Speaker 1 (00:00):
Billy Costa, our Fearless Leader, is in Africa on safari.
It's his wife, Michelle's dream. I don't really want to
do it, but he's doing it out of love, and
so we've been checking in with him every single day,
and you know a lot of people are concerned.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Good morning, everybody. I just went in to thank you
for keeping everybody in the loop with Billy's trip to Africa,
and it's funny how concerned I feel for him, just
as if he's part of my family. And I guess
you guys are my morning family. So thanks for keeping
us in the loop and love your show. Have a
good day.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
Well then let's get the daily check in with our
fearless leader. Billy. Dude, what's up? Oh man?
Speaker 3 (00:42):
You know you want to talk about a medical emergency?
I came very close to one a couple of minutes ago.
Right outside my tent window. There was a showdown between
two hippos, wilderbeast, a herd of elephants and baboons, all
staring each other down. Now you need to understand they're
all like twenty feet outside my window.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
So did were they going to attack each other?
Speaker 4 (01:09):
Well, the hippos were stalking. They're in the water and
they keep their eyes above the water. This is how
they sneak up on you know, their prey. It's just incredible.
Would you would I'm witnessing out here.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Were they going to attack on each other? Are an
attack on you? Hippo was looking at Bill.
Speaker 4 (01:26):
Yeah, well there's another story I can tell you last night.
First of all, there's no darkness like the darkness of
Africa at night. I mean, you can't even see the
hand in front of your face. Right. So, there was
one point last night. And again, by the way, in
case you didn't hear, yes, I slept in a tent
(01:48):
in Africa.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
I noticed, Billy, I noticed that you are fully clothed
in bed.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
Well, understand, I've never slept in a tent in Boston.
So at one point in the night, because I was
struggling going to sleep, I thought I was hearing a
group of elephants passed by my tent. Couldn't be sure
because it's so dark. Sure enough, I go outside in
(02:15):
the morning there's elephant dung right outside my window. My god,
do you think I'm making this up?
Speaker 1 (02:23):
How big was that pile?
Speaker 2 (02:24):
It is?
Speaker 4 (02:28):
It's just a pile of dung. You know what I'm
talking about, much like this show. But anyway, there was
another moment last night, having the fact that it was
our first night in the tent. And by the way,
I need to point out, we're at the hide large
here at Kewongbi National Park and this place is amazing.
(02:48):
But we have a bathtub outside the tent. Okay, So
Michelle and I decided to have tubby time. Suddenly, now understand,
we're in the darkness in the wild, and suddenly I'm
sitting there in the tub naked as you should be
(03:08):
in a tub with your wife, and it suddenly hit me.
I'm like, oh my god, I'm not Oh there goes
an entire herd of wildebees right by me. I say, Michelle,
I get again out of the tub. I don't feel
I could be in a position to protect you if
anything should happen, right, So I get up, naked, go
back into the tent, and without thinking I locked the
(03:32):
door behind me. So now I was worried about protecting
her outside. Now I left her outside in a tub, naked,
locked out from the tent.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Oh classic, Yeahla, Although we know that she's protecting you
on the trip I mean that's pretty clear. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
Well, I always said all I have to do is
outrun her. So did you see any of the posts
that Michelle put together that I could produce her?
Speaker 3 (03:58):
What about the Giants Fighter?
Speaker 4 (04:02):
Okay, here we go. You're ready for this one. Now,
I understand. We go out on safari at five in
the morning, five thirty in the morning, right, So we
pull over for breakfast, you know, coffee in the middle
of the wild at a watering hole. Right, So we
pull up the jeeps that we get out and the
staff you know, serve a great breakfast. And we're standing
around and every time we were riding around, I'm looking
(04:24):
at these giant bones, you know, scattered around the park.
And I turned to Michelle and I said, you know,
I like to get the story behind the bones. So
our guide, who by the way, is a real hot shit,
sorry to swear, So Peter takes Peter takes I'm very nervous.
(04:45):
Peter takes us over to the bones and he said, yeah,
and I decided, you know what I want. Michelle says, hey, Billy,
hold up the bones, right. So I hold up the
bones right next to me, and then Peter runs over
and he said, wait a minute, let me look at something.
And he looks inside the bone that I'm holding very casually,
and there's a black widow spider in the from my hand. Really, yeah,
(05:10):
you have NOTHI Lisa, how are you?
Speaker 3 (05:13):
I'm good.
Speaker 4 (05:14):
I'm like, we're kind of worried about you.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
I have a genuine question, Billy, what is the airhorn
doing for you at night? Air horn?
Speaker 4 (05:23):
Yeah? Good thing you brought up the airhorn, because you
know they leave the airhorn in the room, and at
what point do I use the air horn? Right? So
when I ran back in from tubby time, you know,
I climbed in bed, got under the covers and picked
up the air hoorn and Michelle finally walks and she says,
what the hell are you doing? So I found out that,
(05:48):
let's say, hypothetically a ba boom decides he or she
wanted to join us in the tent. Well, I got
to sound a horn or possibly a lion that it's
a little too cozy for me, you know what I'm
talking about? So is it going to scare them away?
I ran and got the here, So what's up?
Speaker 3 (06:07):
What's on tap for tomorrow?
Speaker 1 (06:09):
What are you guys doing tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (06:11):
You mean, oh we have we have another safari in
five minutes. Oh really, we're on the move here, Okay,
we're constantly on the go. Yeah, but yeah, we did
one at five point thirty this morning. It was awesome.
And by the way, I'm learning so much about conservation
here in Africa, and a lot of the trip is
about that, about the protection of the animals, the protection
(06:34):
of the environment and the ecosystem. And Theanal and Emma
are are leaders here, and I mean they are absolute experts,
and we're going to get them on before the week
is up, and you'll meet the team with us. By
the way that I mentioned they are from all over
the world, the Netherlands, Belarus, Mazatlan, Mexico. I mean, we're
a group of eight and they're from all over the world.
(06:56):
And by the way, young and beautiful people.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Okay, thanks for that.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
Protection of the animal is very important, Billy, But we're
worried about the protection.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
Of Yeah, and I've got one thing I want to
say now that I.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
Never thought i'd ever say in my life.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
I don't I have on iPhone to get it.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
Hut.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
Everybody here is calling home, They're calling spouses, they're texting,
they're posting with their iPhones. I can't do a damn
thing with my.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
Girls to switch.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
Dude, Donal, can you come over here for a second.
Donnell's get a couple of quick websites. I want to
make sure we get them out because you can see beautiful,
beautiful pictures and video masks.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
Tell them where to go.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
You go to Atlas one Expeditions dot com if you
want to join the same trip that Billy is on
this year. We're running the same trip in June and
October of twenty twenty five. All right, there we go,
and if you don't mind, folks, I gotta go. We're
on Safari an am.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
Yeah he's from Cambridge, Cambridge. Yeah, we're talking about Donald. Yeah,
Donald's still here, but he's lived across the world for
many years to the acquire. Anyway, we'll check in with
Billy again tomorrow. Hopefully he'll be okay. But yeah, we're
on this thing.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
I was just watching Billy's posts on Instagram of him
and his in the tent in the middle of Africa
with all the beautiful animals, and all I could think
of is I really hope those animals don't get a
true taste of Boston. They have their own five star meal,
Billy Coster, right in front of them. It would be delicious,
but man oh Man, a cookbook and a dish, nothing
(08:38):
could be better.
