Speaker 1 (00:00):
Now to a group of high school seniors who had
transformed a standard yellow school bus and to a camper.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
For the ultimate cross country summer road trip.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
And it's all for school credit. Yeah, now there's been
a bit of a change. First of all, welcome guys,
Thank you so much.

Speaker 4 (00:15):
We're so excited to miss.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
It's even more exciting than ABC and Good Morning America beyond.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Yeah, we're feeling the love. We're feeling the excitement. Now.
You guys were telling me off the air. It started
with how.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Many guys this bus that you bought used and kind
of tricked out?

Speaker 4 (00:32):
It was about ten guys fully on their project or
five guys fully on their project, and then ten people
helping out when they can, coming around and doing different
different jobs.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Uh huh.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
And the bus? How much did you pay for the bus?
And how bad and condition was it?

Speaker 5 (00:48):
Yeah, so we actually bought it on Facebook marketplace for
seven thousand dollars, which we thought was a steal and
did not know you could buy buses.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
At seven grand. It was a steal. Was it in
pretty good shape?

Speaker 6 (01:00):
So?

Speaker 5 (01:00):
Actually the bus was from California initially, which means it
has no rust because it's kind of.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
Oh there you go.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
That's like having a boat that was on the lake
all the time something like that. Okay, it doesn't appreciate
as much. Okay, So now you're going to head off
on a journey. Now, where's the journey taking you?

Speaker 4 (01:17):
So we're hoping to finish up the bus in a
few days, maybe a week, and then we're gonna take
some smaller trips around the northeast sort of figure out
how to actually live on a bus, because ten people
in a bus is crazy, especially like a twenty five
foot bus.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Oh boy, yeah, it's not a full length school bus
that people might imagine, right, it's a kind of a
mini bus.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
It's a short bus with ten of you living and sleeping.
How and what do you eat during this journey? Well,
we have Sebastian.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
You're gonna be okay, what's the short bust?

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Did?

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Okay? You can laugh? Yeah? So where were we? Where's there?

Speaker 2 (01:56):
So? Where in the country are you guys going? Initially
for the main time.

Speaker 4 (02:00):
Mapping this out for you, Well, we're gonna we're gonna
do We're gonna send a Google format to all of
our followers and ask them for their location and what
to do in that location and hopefully we'll get back
this huge map of everything we can do in the
country and then sot of just draw a line from
dot to dot to dot all the way to California
and maybe touch the Pacific at the end.

Speaker 7 (02:20):
Now we need to mention that you've amassed two point
two million followers on Instagram in about three weeks.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
That's part of the story, right.

Speaker 5 (02:28):
Yeah, it's been not a part of the story we
thought was gonna happen, but it's definitely been kind of
a crazy right.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Well, we want to be honest with you selfishly, that's
the main reason we wanted to have you guys in
because we want to know how we.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
Can capitalize on you.

Speaker 7 (02:42):
We need the bus bump.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Yeah, by the time the journeys are you'll probably have
twenty million followers.

Speaker 5 (02:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
We think that a lot of the reason why people
like following our journey is because it's inspiring to see
a group of people, a group of friends, just decide
to do something and really execute on it. And I
think that's something that we've really been exc about, just
the ability that we've had to be able to, Oh no,
we don't know how to do something. Let's watch a
YouTube video and get it done.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Ah.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Oh, I do that a lot.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Yeah, I do that.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
But what are the living accommodations going to be like?
Because now it's ten guys. I don't think originally ten
guys were going on the journey, right yeah.

Speaker 6 (03:17):
I think we originally thought we were only going of
eight or nine. Yeah, and so we only put in
five beds and.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
These are very small beds, right yeah.

Speaker 6 (03:27):
There it's three bunk beds and we have two kind
of tables and seats that convert also into beds. And
then we're just going to have a bean bag where
someone can sleep, a couple of hammocks, and hopefully a
tent on our roof deck.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Spend the night in a bean bag under the stars
on the roof.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
Yeah, what about rain and extreme wind?

Speaker 6 (03:47):
Going to really hope that doesn't happen.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
Want to have So who's driving the bus?

Speaker 5 (03:55):
Yes, I think there's a few of us that we
are we believe are fit to drive, but we definitely
to go to driving school kind of figured out and
go from there.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Have you thought about the possibility that halfway through the journey,
one or two of you might just say I'm out
of here.

Speaker 5 (04:11):
I think we're placing bets.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
At this point, I was gonna say, is there any
side bets on this? Who goes first?

Speaker 4 (04:16):
We have three bets right now on who's who's going
to go first?

Speaker 2 (04:19):
But once again, if you just tuned in, we've got
Ben Rhodes, Croft, Ben Siegel, Sebastian Romero, all of them
from Milton Academy. Now, which one of you played tennis
with Max Donovan at least his son?

Speaker 4 (04:31):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Is he any good? Can you beat?

Speaker 4 (04:33):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (04:34):
No, I cannot beat him?

Speaker 3 (04:35):
An incredible tennis player. God, those wacky Douneopian boys. I'm
just saying, how about eating? How are you gonna eat?
What are you gonna eat? How are you going to
prepare it?

Speaker 4 (04:45):
So we have a big fridge like it was actually
such ginormous fridge that we slide into the kitchen. And
we also have an we're hoping to do an electric griddle,
assuming he doesn't fry our battery when we plug it in. Yeah,
and we'll like cook eggs on it. Maybe have a
little kitchen there.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
This is going to be an incredible experience.

Speaker 7 (05:04):
Is there a bathroom or a shower? All of us?

Speaker 3 (05:06):
A good point?

Speaker 5 (05:07):
We are we're working on it right now, there is not,
but we are. We're hoping to get something in always
do the planet fitness thing like that we talked about.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
I'm sorry, what's the planet all over the country.

Speaker 6 (05:18):
Yeah, people if they like don't have a reliable shower,
like people that live in buses or means, they get
a ten dollars you know, card to plant fitness and
they can shower.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Well there you go. Well that's right.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
How you're going to wash?

Speaker 3 (05:30):
Like is there running water? No, there can't be.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
We do have running water for a sink, but showers
are going to be a different story.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Oh boy, you know you figure it out along the way.
So take me back to when you got the beat
up bus. Okay, what was the most difficult thing you
had to do to get the bus ready?

Speaker 5 (05:51):
I guess getting it ready the we're kind of like
we started by just ripping everything out.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (05:56):
And one of the hardest parts is like I don't know,
there's like that plastic liner on the bottom of the bus,
like right when you walk in, and it just took
us I don't know, three four days with like pick
axes essentially just trying to scrape the plastic off them.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
Really.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Yeah, see I've never had to do that, so I
wasn't aware there was a plastic You're tearing the floor
up on a school bus.

Speaker 7 (06:14):
Well, they this was part of a school project. So
you guys had a timeline, right, or a timeframe that
you had to get it done by. Correct.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
Yes, correct, you're nervous. Oh, super super super nervous.

Speaker 5 (06:25):
We did not think we could do it, but it's
been really great to see everyone kind of show up
and work really hard.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
What's the most advanced technology you're going to have on board,
like an iPad?

Speaker 3 (06:36):
Is that it phones? That's it. That's all you hear.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
You have some fancy electric electrical stuff. We have a
big battery and Ben can talk more about what.

Speaker 5 (06:45):
They're Yeah, yeah, we actually we follow just a ton
of different YouTube videos. We'll have some solar on the
top charging the batteries during the day, h and also
the alternator and the engine will also.

Speaker 6 (06:54):
Charge some of the batteries.

Speaker 5 (06:55):
So we're hoping that gets us kind of enough to
charge our phones, keep seeing running the Instagram and.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
Well, speaking of technology, we've got a plan for you guys. Okay,
first of all, you've got to pay attention and listen
to the iHeart app the billion and list the morning
show on.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
The iHeart app. Anywhere's a free app.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
It won't cost you nickel, right, and then we want
you to call into the show regularly and be our
correspondents from the road.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
We get updates.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
Oh yeah, yeah yeah, leave leave talkbacks if you're going
to listen on the iHeart app.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
Right, it's free.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
So then you pull us up, you listen live, and
there's a little red microphone. You hit that and you
can send a voice recording and I'll get in and
put it on the radio.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
Oh my goodness, like a daily a daily update everyone in.
Oh yeah, just a quick talk back and then you're
on your way.

Speaker 5 (07:41):
Oh yeah, coast to coast.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
Here we go.

Speaker 4 (07:42):
We'll be talking with a lot of super interesting people
as well. Along our way. Maybe we'll meet some people
that we can bring on as well.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
See. I love the way you're thinking already, you're thinking
like a correspondent. Wow, this is gonna be awesome. We're
going to be following along. Okay, just pretend we're on
the bus with you. That's the Heart radio app. By
the way, just make sure you're walk you want to walk.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
It in, guys, I gotta tell you, weren't you just
at the prom?

Speaker 2 (08:07):
We were, Yeah, and now you're getting on the bus
and touring the country.

Speaker 4 (08:11):
There we took we took a bunch of bus photos
at prom. We did a we did a day day
blank for the prom.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
Quickly, how can people follow you on Instagram? Let's get
some more followers. It doesn't hurt.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
It's boys dot with dot the dot bus and the
girls on the bus have their account called girls dot
with the Dot Bus.

Speaker 7 (08:32):
What girls on the bus?

Speaker 3 (08:33):
Yeah, okay, you buried the lead, but we gotta go
all right,
