Speaker 1 (00:00):
Saint Patty's Day, of course, is celebrated March seventeenth. Is
that a Sunday typically?

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Well, no, the seventeenth is always act to day.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
It happened to be Sunday this year, okay, And you're
probably wondering.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
I mean, we know it's big in Boston.

Speaker 1 (00:13):

see the Saint Patty's Day parade, I have a list. Wow.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Gee oh, let's hear it. We're going to start at.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Number five And number five on the list is Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,
where Lisa's husband Tim Dunnovan is from. Really so you
remember that as a big parade.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Never have chosen that city, you know, the one that
always surprised me.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
I'm sure going to spoil your list, but I have
to get it out of my eye. Yeah, Chicago paint.
They die their river green.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
They really get in Chicago, really gets.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
Into I don't know, as are they in the top
five bill It so happens they are number two on
the list in the country.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
There you go, because they die the river green.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
They do yeah quickly. Number four is Reno, Nevada.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
That's weird.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
Number three is Savannah Georgia.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
We like Savannah, Savannah. I'm gonna be in Savannah in
a week.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
And a half.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
You'll be there for Saint Patta.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Yeah, oh my god, you should have offered to host
the parade.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
You'll have to go to the parade.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Leasi Well, uh yeah, those are memories. So Jenny Johnson
and I hosted the Saint Patas.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Oh we we remember. Are you gonna do it again?
You think they've ashton?

Speaker 1 (01:21):
I said, oh, well, I'll be away on vacation.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
You said no, Yeah, Oh it was so good last time.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
We interrupt Anny c n's regularly scheduled program to bring
you the two hundred and thirty fourth Boston Saint Patrick's
Day Parade featuring special guests Boston Rob Season five, American
Idol contestant Hey Love Brown, Alan Ghibli on special float
appearances by Connie the Cannoli from Mike's Pastry.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Joe the Doe Piano Doozi. Hundreds are gathered from their

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Here's our hosts, Billy Costa and Jenny Johnson.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
We are perched in our booth here about two hundred
feet from the starting line, and the will Kalaine Singers
and when I tell you just a sampling of what
you're gonna get from this incredible parade?

Speaker 4 (02:16):
Are you not doing it really because you're going to
be away of my education because you don't want me
to pull the clips and play them back.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
No, I'm on vacation. I'm sure you're gonna pull the
clips all next week.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Anyway, that's true. Yeah, they're righty the it's the giant bulldog.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
That is quite the bulldog.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
I wonder how long it took to blow that thing up.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Yeah, okay, Jenny, she's a hard hitter.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Okay, you know what, let me ask you how many
parades have you hosted?

Speaker 2 (02:45):
I actually hate parades.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
So the purpose of this whole story was to tell
you the number one city for watching a Saint Patrick's
Day parade, And of course it is this city of Boston.
And I think it's because Jenny and I parade.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
No, not just a million Irish people and selfie and
like one square mile that doesn't help.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Probably have something.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
To do with it that it's Yeah, it's definitely sealthy. Boy.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
We're ready for Saint Patty's Day, aren't we.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
That's mikey V's birthday, Saint Patrick's oh, yeah, which makes
sense for him.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
He's a big party here. But he's not Irish, No,
he's not. He's Jewish and Italian. Yeah, oh I don't know. Yeah,
Jewish and Italian, I believe. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
I never really celebrated Saint Patrick's Day, but I did
attend the South Boston parade semi recently.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
It was quite the same. Yeah, I mean a great time,
but you can't get to even get there if you
don't live in SELTHI is. It's a nightmare.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
And I just remember leaving the parade walking and there
was a group of kids in front of me, and
one of the kids was so drunk he couldn't walk,
and his friend was just holding him by the shirt
and just guiding him all the way down in the
kid just kept bouncing off fences.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
And yeah, you know, I've got quite a history because
when I was really young, my mom's sister, my aunt
Dorothy or Dotty, lived in Southea on East Date Street,
and we would go to Southee for the parade. We
actually slept over our.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
House a lot when we were kids.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
And then in high school, one of my best friends
rest in peace, Dennis Clinton. His family was big and
Irish and they had a huge Saint Patty's Day and
you'd go there just to watch your right, justin you'd
go there to watch the drunk people and the fights
in the streets.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
If that doesn't qualify for number one in America, what
on earth does? And by the way, I honorable mention
at number seven on the list is Worcester, Massachusetts.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Oh for the entire country. Look at the spillage from Boston.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Oh yeah, always surprised me, Like the same Patty's Day
parade is really a big deal in the city. And
to my knowledge or my memory, the Dropkick Murphy's never
in the parade.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
I don't think so. I would think they would have.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Been to do some research on that. I'm not sure.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Because we had the Will Kleine singers or whatever. Yeah,
and you know characters five and first New England, Garrison
Star Wars characters, a lot of Darth Vader's
