Speaker 1 (00:00):
From the Planet's fitness Kiss one Owait Studios. We're back
with a Billy and Lisa in the morning on.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Kiss Hey guys, so welcome back.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
At the start of the show this morning, Lisa put
up the link for the Jody Pico event which is
coming to Big Night Live August twenty eighth. It is
being called the super Bowl of book club events and
it is very quickly selling out right, Lise.

Speaker 4 (00:24):
It is, and we have a very special guest on
the phone right now. We have Miss Jody Pico. Hi, Jody, Hey,
how you doing.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
We're great.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
This is a dream of mine to have you on
the show and then to have you coming to Lisa's
book club.

Speaker 5 (00:39):
Oh, it's my pleasure. And wow, the super Bowl of
book events. I'm feeling pretty special this morning.

Speaker 6 (00:44):
That's great.

Speaker 4 (00:45):
Well that's what we do here.

Speaker 7 (00:46):
Ray.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Oh yeah, we've got March, We've got everything. This is amazing.

Speaker 5 (00:51):
Can't wait. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (00:53):
So we'll be a Big Night Live with you August
twenty eighth, and you're going to sign all the books.
This is in part because By any Other Name is
coming out in paperback in August. So this is like
a big sort of like celebration of that right.

Speaker 5 (01:06):
It's a huge celebration. It's literally the only event that
I'm doing for this paperback. And this is my favorite
book that I've written, and I could talk about it
forever and ever and ever. So I'm thrilled to get
the chance.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
To do that.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Jody, can I ask you a question about the book world,
the book business, Like we hear there's a lot about
it's out on paperback. When do you make the decision?
When is it okay to go ahead and launch the paperback?
Is there a rule of thumb you follow?

Speaker 5 (01:34):
Yeah, that's way above my pay grade. I actually have
nothing to do with that. It's actually the publisher's decision,
and it's usually based on they look at kind of
the stream of hardcover sales and they see are they
still selling really really strongly, Well, then we're not going
to release a paperback. So, like you know, there was
a remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt, which was

(01:57):
an incredible book, and that was in hardcover for years
because it was selling so well. So it's really a
decision made by the publisher and we just, you know,
we authors go, hey, great, that's awesome.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
I do I know, right, exactly. I want to do
a big shout out to our mutual friend Jody Lisa Genova,
who is right amazing. So she's done my book club
twice and she was actually the person who connected me
with Jody. So a big shout out to Lisa, because
she's a big believer in Lisa's book Club and she
loves you, and she wanted to make sure that we

(02:30):
could do this, So I just wanted to say thank
you to her.

Speaker 5 (02:34):
Absolutely, it's a mutual admiration society. I think she's an
incredible writer and an incredible human.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
I also told Billy that your last eight novels debuted
at number one on the New York Times bestseller list.
How does that happen?

Speaker 5 (02:46):
Yeah, again, that's all sales, and I have very little
to do with it. I'm incredibly grateful to the people
who rush out and buy it or pre order the book.
In today's world, pre orders are what really sells a
book because all of those pre orders tend to dump
right into the first day. And yeah, it's every time

(03:07):
it happens. It's a little shocking.

Speaker 8 (03:09):
You know.

Speaker 5 (03:10):
I'm very I consider myself very fortunate. I work really,
really hard, but I also have the most devoted group
of readers. And you know, in this thirty five years
I've been in this business, I have not lost sight
of how lucky I am to have them.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Well, you know, it's great, Judy, you have the most
devoted group of readers, and Lisa Dunovan has the most
devoted group of book club members.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
Yeah, this will sell out by the end, by the
end of the show, I'm sure.

Speaker 5 (03:34):
Well, it sounds like a match made in heaven. I'm
true it is.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
And we do so much for raising a reader. And
everyone's just like so thrilled that you're coming to Big
Night Live. Are you working on another project right now?

Speaker 6 (03:45):
I am.

Speaker 5 (03:46):
I'm very very deep into the book of mine that
will come out in twenty twenty six, and you know,
who knows, maybe we'll even talk about that at the event.
We'll see I like.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
Yeah, big announcement, breaking little from Jodie, a little see.

Speaker 5 (04:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
Do you have it, Jony, do you have a special
place that you'd do your writing, like within the house?

Speaker 7 (04:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (04:07):
The funny thing is that I started writing when I
had a kid. I had just had a baby, and
then within three years I had like two more kids,
and I was literally writing anytime they were napping or
like watching Marnie or not hitting each other with sippy cups.
And you know, and then as they went into school,
I started to take my laptop places. I would write

(04:28):
in the you know, in the parking line at the
nursery school or at swim practice. And then they all
went to college and grew up and became adults. And
now the place I love to write the most is
in my house on the third floor, in the attic.
It's my very, very messy workspace, but I have everything
at my fingertips, all my research, anything that I really

(04:48):
need to get to to write a book is right there.
I can write anywhere, and I have written anywhere, but
I prefer to write in my attic.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
How long did it take you to write by any
other name?

Speaker 5 (04:59):
You know, most of my books, even the ones that
feel like they took fifteen years, take about nine months.
It's quite gestational. And you know, the same thing happened
with by any of the name. When I put together
the actual time I was working on it, it was
about nine months total. And that's from the beginning of
research till the end of the first draft.

Speaker 7 (05:19):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
We also read Matt Honey in our book club like
two years ago. That was a fave. So I'm again like,
I I'm so excited that you're coming because we've been
we love you, all of us, all of us as
book members.

Speaker 5 (05:32):
I am so excited. You know. I live in New Hampshire,
so Boston's my city and I'm just I'm thrilled. I mean,
when I used to live back in in Needham and Newton,
I used to listen to Kisslinoi, so oh, I mean, yeah,
you guys are my jam Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
I like that. Well, thank you for that.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
I got to ask you, though, when you're invited to
cocktail parties or holiday parties, do you always feel the
need to bring books?

Speaker 6 (05:59):
You know?

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Never?

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Never?

Speaker 5 (06:02):
You know what, It's funny you should say that because
I also write librettos for musicals and one of my
most recent musicals was in England, was on the West End,
and the director had this character who was a writer
show up with a book and I was like, excuse me, No,
nobody would do that, you know. To me, that is
so self serving. Most of the time when people ask

(06:25):
me what I do, I'm like, oh, yeah, I write.
I mean, I never volunteer information like that. What I
do do, however, at cocktail parties is trot out excellent
details and facts from research, because I have so many
great little nuggets of facts that I've tucked away in
my brain.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
What are you reading right now?

Speaker 5 (06:45):
I just started reading, and I literally mean like cracked
it open, The Undertaking of Heart and Mercy, which is
supposed to be this very strange, little interesting book. And
it's not a new book, but it's been on my
list for a long time, so I decided to give
it a whirl.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Yeah, you have to know that Lisa was just writing
it down. She's going to make it for the next
book table.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
I always take all of the author recommendations because you
know they're great. So that's that's amazing. So I think, Jody,
I think you also shared the link on your Instagram.
What is your Instagram?

Speaker 5 (07:17):
My instagram is at Jody Pico.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
Okay, so the link is up live there too. It's
at mine, Lisa Donovan one O eight. Get your tickets
because this is going to sell out folks by probably
the end of the show.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
Oh bye, It's very close to selling out right now,
so that's huge. Jody Pico, thank you so much. For
calling us this morning. We were and thank you so
much for listening to us over the years.

Speaker 5 (07:38):
Of course, yeah, of course, I can't wait to see
you guys live. Thank you so much for having me.

Speaker 4 (07:42):
All right, we'll see August twenty eighth at Big Night Live.

Speaker 9 (07:46):
Jolly and Lisa all the morning.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
We're working so many different stories this morning. One that
we haven't mentioned yet I'm kind of fascinated by. It's
this ride in Mendon, Massachusetts, Lisa.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
It's at the Southwick Zoo and yesterday people were stranded
for up to three hours thirty feet up in the air.
It's basically like a ski lift, that's what it looks like,
and it takes people around the zoo, so you go
over all of the animal enclosures. Well, people were stuck
on the ride for up to three hours until every
single person could be brought down, and they.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Were stuck right over the alligators.

Speaker 6 (08:22):
Yeh oh man, you imagine.

Speaker 4 (08:25):
I can't even imagine.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Three hours, three hours. Well, the alligators like down below,
snapping and everything.

Speaker 6 (08:32):
I'm telling you. Rides are fun, you know, at the
Southwick Zoo or carnival wherever, but there's malfunctions sometimes, and
that's why I don't go on.

Speaker 7 (08:40):
The idea sounds cool like you can like be above them,
but like this happens, and how did they get you down?

Speaker 4 (08:46):
And it's called the sky Safari Skyride. It has broken
down once before a few years ago.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
So yeah, well you see this on ski lifts a
lot right where the chair it gets stopped. But you know,
you just worry about getting down. But when you're stock,
you don't know what's sticking the ride, like it could
collapse and you're following you into a family of alligators.

Speaker 6 (09:07):
Yeah, and if it was.

Speaker 7 (09:09):
Like an enclosed type of thing like a Ferri's whale,
but this was open, like your legs, your legs were dangling.
It's not like it was an enclosed thing. If you
fell and this kid was on the ride when.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
It was moving, I was actually very happy.

Speaker 10 (09:24):
I loved it, and Telecott stuck.

Speaker 4 (09:26):
I was.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
I was like, I hate this side.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
Imagine it's like terrifying.

Speaker 6 (09:35):
Yeah was okay.

Speaker 4 (09:36):
Yeah, they got everybody down safely, but.

Speaker 6 (09:38):
Imagine if they fell into the alligator enclosure. Imagine an
alligator bit my hand, Oh my god, turn them down
and floor and the rough down my leg it just
popped up. Tucked me down on my prime.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
And we're back with Billy and Lisa in the morning.

Speaker 11 (09:56):
I'm not reading a morning post, but if I got
to wake up early, might as well get a good
laugh on Kiss one Away.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Now the entertainment update with a Billy copstap.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
Okay, Before I get to the entertainment report, I do
want to say a loving happy birthday to my sister,
Cheryl Steele, who's celebrating her birthday today and will be
celebrating with her tonight.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
It's her birthday justin Bay.

Speaker 11 (10:24):
Mom, stop but a cakeday. The fame sass shake. Birthday
going on his money.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
And day face.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
Is my birthday?

Speaker 3 (10:32):
All right?

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Happy birthday, bitch.

Speaker 7 (10:36):
I love her.

Speaker 6 (10:37):
What a brother in law you are? Okay?

Speaker 7 (10:39):
All right, she's she is.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
We were just with her on Saturday night.

Speaker 8 (10:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
Yeah, wrote a song for her birthday. That's incredible.

Speaker 6 (10:50):
Well, happy birthday, Cheryl. I love Cheryl.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
Yeah, agree day. Mom stop put a cake.

Speaker 11 (10:54):
It's my birthday and I'm gonna make the famous ass shake.
It's my birthday on Monday.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
Birthday.

Speaker 4 (11:02):
Every day is my birthday.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
Actually, the story is j Low's birthday is this coming Thursday,
and she's releasing that song called Birthday on her birthday.

Speaker 7 (11:19):
Great love that Yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
Okay, Wild finished to the Red Sox game last night,
Socks and the Phillies in Phillies, Socks and the Phillies
tied to two. In the tenth inning, Socks catcher Carlos Nevaez,
his catcher's mitt, manages to interfere with the bat on
a check swing. The winning run for the Phillies walks in.

(11:43):
We've got the call interview to call.

Speaker 6 (11:45):
The feuds overturn.

Speaker 12 (11:46):
There is petcher's interference. Batter's award of birthday everyday, Scot
is over. This game ends on catcher's interference. The run
will score and the Phillies win it on a walk
go off of sorts on a review catcher's interference to
push in the winning run.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
Now, you got to imagine if you're sitting at that game,
you don't know what the hell's going on, right, because
you can't.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
Hear the play by play, right.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
All you know is suddenly of Philly's ballplayer is walking
home and game over.

Speaker 6 (12:19):
When I showed the slow motion, you could see, I mean, yeah,
Claire's day. Yeah, his glove went out too far.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
That kind of a finish hasn't happened in a game
since nineteen seventy one. And speaking of sports, Patriots training
camp starts tomorrow in Foxborough and by the way, free
and open to the public tomorrow. You've got new head
coach Mike Vrabel, You've got new receiver Stefan Diggs, and
of course you've got quarterback Drake May.

Speaker 6 (12:46):
You got new guys in here, new staff. Kind of
got to keep on getting to everybody, kind of you know,
show my work ethic and then kind of from there,
as the season comes around, try to take a next
step of leadership and leave the offense and hopefully leading
this football team.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Nice sounds pretty epty.

Speaker 6 (12:58):
You also Matt Hollins, who they got in the office, right,
It was quite the character.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
So things are looking good.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
Yeah, I can't wait for He.

Speaker 6 (13:05):
Doesn't wear shoes except for on the field. He's barefoot,
off the field barefoot.

Speaker 4 (13:10):
Like that's that's weird.

Speaker 6 (13:11):
Oh yeah, just he goes out at night barefoot. He
doesn't believe in shoes, what yeah, or sneakers.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
We got to get him on the show.

Speaker 6 (13:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Maybe he's onto.

Speaker 4 (13:21):
Something audities that could be a good topic someday, like right.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
Yeah, personal Auditi says it's injury prevention.

Speaker 6 (13:28):
Oh, that's what he says.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
How does that prevent injury? He could step on a nail.

Speaker 4 (13:31):
He could just wear slides or something.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
Yeah, actually it should be in his contract that he
wears shoes.

Speaker 4 (13:38):
That's a good point, right.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
It's like they say, you know, like remember Tom Brady who.

Speaker 4 (13:43):
Was sky diving or shiving, and then Ben Roethlisberger was
riding a motorcycle and got into that horrible accident.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
Think about the risk of injury. Barefoot walk in the streets, right,
sounds weird to me.

Speaker 6 (13:55):
He's a he's known as the weirdest guy in the NFL,
and you have him.

Speaker 7 (13:58):
He's well, justin he's kind of like you. He does
know he does cold like plunges, right, he believes he
wears shorts. He played for Buffalo last year, like shorts
to the game in December.

Speaker 6 (14:10):
There are some similarities, but there's other things that are
super weird weird about him. He doesn't go in elevators, Yeah,
he doesn't believe in them. He has a phobia of cats. Okay,
he doesn't like cats. Okay, yep. And he's known for
like the weird outfits, the construction outfits.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
Well, the gates in Foxborough if you want to go
check him out and everybody else out. Opened at nine
point fifteen tomorrow morning out at July Stadium. By the way,
the Patriots tomorrow are having dog adoption Day at Jellette.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
Like the New England Patriots. That's so cute.

Speaker 4 (14:48):
I love that they're doing that.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
Yeah, I get out and adopt a dog.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (14:51):
Can I add one more thing here? Yeah? Not to
carry this on another oddity, Yeah, he doesn't believe in utensils.
He only eats with his hands. He says it's more
natural and hygienic.

Speaker 7 (15:01):
Okay, well so people do.

Speaker 4 (15:03):
It's a cultural thing in some countries.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
But yeah, I don't think it's his gin.

Speaker 4 (15:06):
I just think the shoot thing is the weirdest thing
on that list. Yeah, that's weird.

Speaker 6 (15:10):
He calls them prisons.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
Oh you've really got a deep dive going on in there.

Speaker 6 (15:16):
Yeah. He's my guy.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
You know.

Speaker 6 (15:17):
I'm into the weird stuff too. He's a little bit little.

Speaker 7 (15:19):
When he did.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
Didn't you used to have a connection to the Patriots.

Speaker 7 (15:22):
I worked there, Yeah, I did. I did work there.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
Hard to get this guy on the show.

Speaker 7 (15:26):
Okay, I mean I don't know who I can do.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
Anybody speak to you over there?

Speaker 7 (15:30):
No, not really. I mean people do, but not the
ones they can give us. Mack Hollins.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
Yeah, just so you know, if you ever left here,
we wouldn't speak to you.

Speaker 7 (15:38):
You barely want to speak to me and I am here.

Speaker 6 (15:42):
We'll reach out to mister Kraft.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
Hey, the latest one that to Coldplay in say doan
the cheating scandal. The new CEO for Astronomer, that's the
company the guy was ceo of. H He put out
a statement yesterday saying he wishes it didn't happen the
way it did, but Astronomer now is a household name
and he's only a tempt right.

Speaker 7 (16:05):
Yeah, he's the co founder.

Speaker 4 (16:06):
Yeah, until they find someone.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
Every day we get more weird stories about who was
there and who was with who, and what was going
on at the game or the concert that night. Oh
boy uh. Mariah Carey says the new album is going
to be out September twenty sixth. Were a lot of
people waiting for this.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
Hey, Cary, and I want to request marks type dangerous Thank.

Speaker 4 (16:29):
You Anderson pok vibe. I'm getting it from that song. Yeah,
you can hear it her Man Man.

Speaker 7 (16:35):
Maybe he's reignited her want to do new music.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
I was gonna say this could be a relaunch thanks
to Anderson Park.

Speaker 7 (16:41):
Plus at summertime. And I feel like now the money
from last December starting to taper off, so she needs
a little summer hit.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
All right from the one song.

Speaker 7 (16:50):
Well, but I mean it's every every December.

Speaker 6 (16:52):
She's maybe she'll make some money when they you know, now,
when the album comes out, and that'll roll her rt
In's in November. First, Yep, it's time.

Speaker 7 (17:00):
Wow, it's I gotta tell you, Bill, more people want
Maria Carry music than Jalo music.

Speaker 4 (17:05):
So that's yeah, that's definitely.

Speaker 6 (17:09):
What do you say?

Speaker 4 (17:14):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (17:15):
Sad news.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
Malcolm Jamal Warner from The Cosby Show died and it's
how he died that's really shocking everybody. He was vacationing
in Costa Rica. He drowned in a riptide.

Speaker 4 (17:28):
Right he went out to see, got swept away by
a current and then bystandards had to pull him in
and he and he didn't make it any It's horrible.

Speaker 3 (17:36):
And it's funny we were talking about well, everybody's talking
about it. I mean, he was THEO Huxtable on The
Cosby Show. But he had a lot of other credits
under his belt.

Speaker 7 (17:44):
He was a Grammy Award winner.

Speaker 4 (17:45):
And he works all that with with He was with
Berkeley College of Music.

Speaker 6 (17:48):
Yeah, a lot with that.

Speaker 12 (17:49):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (17:50):
He was in American Crime Story, He was in the
People Versus oj Dexter Community, He was in Suit Sons
of Anarchy. He was in all of the Fresh Prince
of bel Air. That makes a lot of sense. He
was in that. Also made appearances on Sesame Street. But
he was a musician. He had a lot going on.

Speaker 7 (18:10):
And think about it, he's been famous since he was
like about fourteen.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (18:13):
Never any scandals, never any issues, just like a nice
guy that was always working.

Speaker 6 (18:18):
You know.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
Bill Cosby even commented.

Speaker 7 (18:21):
Yeah, he said, I like it felt like when his
son was murdered, which I didn't know his son was murdered.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
Well, the character he played on The Cosby Show was
based on his son.

Speaker 6 (18:30):
I think, Bill Cosby, I don't think so.

Speaker 2 (18:33):
Is he not in prison? I thought he was.

Speaker 7 (18:35):
He let him out like a couple of years ago.
Because he's like blind and deaf. I don't know, like
he's I don't think he can hurt anybody right now.

Speaker 6 (18:42):
Okay, he's a skin dog. We know what he is.
Let's just move on.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
Hey, don't forget a lot of beach talk on the
show this morning. We're talking about beach pet peeves and
things like that. The annual sand castle competition on Revere Beach.
I used to host that for several years.

Speaker 7 (18:58):
Well, you'll host anything, won't you.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
I'm sorry, I really enjoyed. I was thrilled to be asked.

Speaker 7 (19:04):
Did you knock down some of them? Like when you
got when you didn't get, you know, and you got annoyed.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
At may have had a clumsy moment. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
Oops, sorry, that's a legendary.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
Yeah. It starts this coming Friday and goes throughout the
weekend from.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
The Planet Fitness Kiss One Away Studios. We're back with
Billy and Lisa in the morning on Kiss.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
Okay, so we've got the Gracy Abrams contest going on.
I'm loving this contest because the prize is so unique
and so big. All you have to do is send
us a talk back when you hear a Gracie Abrams song,
and if you do, you get floor seats for her
Boston show this weeklies.

Speaker 4 (19:40):
Okay, right, you got to go to Boston. But then
it qualifies you to go to LA and sit on
the floor. So you've got this amazing trip to LA too,
Like this is unforgettable.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
And we have a winning talkback, Giana, let's go.

Speaker 8 (19:51):
I would love the Gracy Abrams tickets. My sister she's
going to be a junior in high school this year,
she said, a little bit a rough time throughout high school,
So I would love these tickets so I could take
her and have a fun night with her and just
let her know that she's worth having fun with.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
Oh yeah, baby, that's a jam right there. I think
we've got Gianna on the phone. Hey Gianna, is this
Gianna from the Vibros?

Speaker 2 (20:21):
I wish not?

Speaker 9 (20:23):
How are you?

Speaker 2 (20:24):
We're good?

Speaker 3 (20:24):
And it wouldn't be legal anyway. You can't win if
you're a Gianna from the Vibros.

Speaker 9 (20:29):
Show, definitely not.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
Where are you from, Gianna?

Speaker 9 (20:33):
I'm from Malden.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
Oh justin grew up in Maldon, although probably in a
different circle from you, a little bit older too. Yeah yeah,
So tell us about your sister.

Speaker 9 (20:45):
She is, she's going to be seventeen in September, and
she's changing high schools and we're having a little bit
of a hard time. So I'm super excited to be
able to bring her and just have fun with her.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
See, I'm glad I asked there. It is another perfect Winner.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
Funny.

Speaker 9 (21:00):
We actually we saw Lisa at cold Play on Tuesday
night at Splitsville. We were sitting there and I was like, Mom,
is that Lisa? It was so nice to see you.

Speaker 4 (21:09):
Oh, nice to see you too. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (21:11):
That was fun, wasn't it.

Speaker 9 (21:12):
Oh my gosh, it was the best show.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
You didn't go over and say hello to Lisa? Did you?

Speaker 9 (21:18):
We were sitting at the table and she walked right
by us.

Speaker 6 (21:20):
She did.

Speaker 9 (21:20):
She was nice enough to say I it was oh.

Speaker 3 (21:22):
Because she's usually surrounded by bodyguards.

Speaker 6 (21:27):
Is your sister a big Gracy fan?

Speaker 3 (21:29):
She is?

Speaker 9 (21:30):
She's Actually I didn't really know much of her music,
and my sister she was like, I love Gracie, so
I've been listening to her more and more. So it
works so great.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
Well, now you and your sister are going to be
on the floor for Gracy Abrams.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
No, you're gonna have tickets for Gracie Abrams.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
God, why did they let me talk about a good Okay,
so you're going to see Grace Abrams in Boston with
your sister. But then you qualify for the grand prize,
which Lisa and I are going to be announcing Thursday.

Speaker 4 (21:59):
More right, which is floor seeds to Gracie Abrams in
Boston and then the flyway to LA and floor seats
in La.

Speaker 5 (22:06):
Too awesome.

Speaker 9 (22:08):
Thank you so much, guys, I really appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
How'd you like a flight to Los Angeles? Pretty cool?

Speaker 9 (22:13):
That would be That would be great.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
You got to be listening Thursday morning.

Speaker 6 (22:17):
Be the best sister ever.

Speaker 2 (22:18):
Yeah, and hold on, and now you get to talk
to producer Riley. She's really cool.

Speaker 9 (22:23):
Awesome, Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
Okay, hold on.

Speaker 6 (22:25):
So the contest continues on all the way up until
showtime tomorrow. The grand prize winner is Thursday. And the
next time we played Gracie, I'll give you the hotel
is in the ten o'clock hour, Billy.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
And Lisa every morning, just want to wait, talk back leftovers,
justin you must have a pile.

Speaker 13 (22:41):
Good morning, Lisa, Billy Winny, justin.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
Two things.

Speaker 13 (22:46):
We happened to be in Europe last week and we
were staying in Monte Calo and Benson Boom was fun
right outside the Hotel. It was awesome. And also, Billy, Justin,
I saw you at the Binnacle yesterday and I saw
it little g You guys are awesome. I love you all.
Have a great day.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
Justin made his debut on Dining Playbook with Me yesterday
all over the North Shore. By the way, that episode
will be airing on Nesson this coming Saturday morning at
nine and Sunday night at nine on Nesson.

Speaker 6 (23:17):
It was so much fun. Thank you for having me
as a guest on the show. I got to see
Billy's other life. Yeah right, I only know the radio life,
but seeing what Billy does after ten am was pretty
amazing to watch.

Speaker 3 (23:28):
But you did a great job. We had a lot
of fun. We were on the water, we were out
boating from town to town. We were in the cars.

Speaker 4 (23:33):
And Billy so he gave you some food challenges he did.

Speaker 6 (23:36):
Yeah, that'll be on the episode. I'm convinced that Billy
only invited me on to watch me eat.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
You're probably right.

Speaker 6 (23:43):
Him and Mike Rocket were you what.

Speaker 7 (23:46):
In a weird way?

Speaker 6 (23:47):
Yeah, cause you know how to eat because of my
crazy diet.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
Okay, I'll give you an example.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
Okay, I think it was at the Barnacle in Marblehead
and there was a giant you know.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
Seafood platter.

Speaker 3 (23:57):
Fine seafood platters get everything from shrimp to onion rings,
Diffrench fries to fried clams, the scallops. And I said, Okay,
between now when I start talking and when I finish,
which is well under two minutes, you need to be
finished with the plate.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
And he was, he smashed it. You did, Yeah, he smashed.

Speaker 6 (24:15):
I did my best. I gotta say the longboard, longboard
and Salem, you have the biggest lobster role you'll have
to see in your entire life. And that was the
first challenge.

Speaker 7 (24:25):
And I devoured so Billy and list that we do
our after show. Me and Justin and we were talking
before you guys left, and he said, oh, you know
I'm going to the show today. I'm not going to
eat though, And I was like, no, you are though,
because it's a food show. He's like, I'll have like
a bite. I go, it's gonna be fried food. It's
it's seafood in the summer. No, I can't do that.

(24:45):
And I go, that's what you have to do if
you want to do the show. Yeah, he did it.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
Another funny story.

Speaker 4 (24:50):
It is yesterday, your cheat day.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
I made that my cheat day. Yeah, another funny story. Okay,
this smacks of Justin. So we're leaving our final shoot.
And at the final it was in Swampskot on the beach.
It was called g Bar and Kitchen and the food
was phenomenal. I mean a giant dish with lamb and
keenwa and kale rice and Aaron cheeny ball everything. The

(25:12):
food was beautiful, right, and Justin was loving the lamb.
It was beautiful, and you know, he said, you know,
you think I can take this home, the rest of it.
And I said, oh, sure, I'm sure they'll pack it
up right, And they did. They packed up all the
food from the table in four boxes. Justin didn't see
the boxes, right. So he and I are walking to

(25:33):
the cars. He said, I can't believe they didn't give
into food. They said they'd give it the food to
take it home. My producer, Calista called me. She said, oh,
she had one more question for me, and I said, oh,
Justin didn't get the food. She said, it's sitting right
here on the table. It has his name on it.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
Four boxes.

Speaker 6 (25:47):
I wanted it, so Lisa, the lamb was unbelievable good.

Speaker 7 (25:51):
I'm so hungry right now.

Speaker 6 (25:52):
Oh my god. It was so good and it was
a great time. So I look forward to seeing myself
on TV. How I did.

Speaker 7 (25:57):
I can't wait to watch you eat on TV.

Speaker 6 (26:00):
Well, you can see a teas on my Instagram at
just to Beezy. There's a video of me devouring the law.
Oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
And by the way, we started the whole thing at
the Salem Waterfront Hotel with my Crocket, who co hosted
the show with me, and we were on the boat.
We had a ball.

Speaker 6 (26:10):
It was a lot of fun.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
Saturday morning at nine on nesson Sunday night at nine
on Neston.

Speaker 6 (26:14):
And then in August our vacation. I'm going to Peetown
with Billy, first time ever in Petown.

Speaker 14 (26:20):
Very exciting to hear that Justin is going to pee Town.
You're going to have a blast. I highly recommend not
going to the dock or under the dock.

Speaker 9 (26:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 14 (26:36):
Time from that, you guys are have a great time.

Speaker 6 (26:38):
You know.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
It's weird that he mentioned that. Last summer when I
was in Peetown, I was looking for an ATM on
one of the back streets and somebody said, oh yeah,
there's one in that building downstairs, so I had to
go under the dock to the ATM machine.

Speaker 6 (26:53):
What'd you see it's a party. Oh you saw some set.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
It is a party.

Speaker 12 (26:57):
Boy.

Speaker 6 (26:58):
Well, there's some concern about going to p Talent with
Billy because you know how he is.

Speaker 2 (27:02):
I'm gonna be the gayest person I ever walked here.
I'll be outrageous in Petown. It's clothing kids one away.

Speaker 1 (27:11):
It's the morning wrap up on Billy and Lisa in
the morning.

Speaker 6 (27:14):
Well, it feels like Christmas out there this morning. It
is Lisa Donovan. Her book club announcement was this morning.

Speaker 4 (27:21):
It was we have Jody Pico joining us August twenty
eighth at Big Night Live. Tickets went on sale this morning.
You buy the paperback. She's only doing one event for
this paperback release and she's doing it with Lisa's book Club,
so it's pretty huge. There are a few tickets left,
so just go to the link in my on my
Instagram Lisa Donovan went Away or the kiss Instagram has

(27:42):
the link to.

Speaker 6 (27:43):
Yeah, it's swing fast and we had Jody on this
morning to talk about the book club and what she's
up been up to, and she lives in New Hampshire
and has spent a lot of time in Boston. Is
a big fan of us on Kiss Went Await.

Speaker 5 (27:53):
I'm thrilled. I mean when I used to live back
in Niedham and Newton, I used to listen to Kiss
Went Away. So oh yeah, you guys are you guys

Speaker 6 (28:02):
That's great. It's gonna be a great event for a jam.

Speaker 8 (28:05):

Speaker 6 (28:05):
So look, if you want to go act fast. Yes,
this thing will sell out for sure. Also, this morning
our topic time whereas a beach pet peeves. This was
a least a list that Lisa had. There was so
many good ones right like smoking on the beach and uh,
just so many good ones.

Speaker 10 (28:20):
Okay, so quick story from the beach. A couple of
weeks ago, I went to spend.

Speaker 7 (28:26):
The day at the beach.

Speaker 10 (28:27):
I took a nice little nap, finally fell asleep, and
I was woken up by a metal detector swinging next
to my head, beeping super loud.

Speaker 7 (28:36):
So yeah, they might be cool.

Speaker 13 (28:37):
And it's nice that they help people find.

Speaker 10 (28:40):
Their missing jewelry, but when you're woking up from a
nap with a swinging and beeping metal detector, it's just
really not vibeing.

Speaker 7 (28:49):
I wonder if someone has like a pacemaker, like a
fake you know rod in them, if they find that,
they will beep, oh wow metal rod like in your
leg or something.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
Imagine accidentally shut down the pacemaker. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (29:02):
They always amused me when I see them out there
with the metal detection because it's more of a hobby thing.

Speaker 4 (29:06):
I feel like, yeah, they're very determined, like.

Speaker 6 (29:08):
They're looking for stuff, but it's more of a way
to relieve stress.

Speaker 2 (29:10):
Well, most I think are retired. Yeah, you know, so
this is what they do.

Speaker 7 (29:15):
I don't think anyone who's like loose change or jewelry. Right, yeah, yeah, you.
