Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, look at that.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
The phone lines ringing NonStop for the past hours since
the last time we gave out sold out jingle Ball tickets.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
It's a hot show.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
It's coming up December fourteenth, jingle Ball presented by Capitol
One and starring ed Sharon. It's going to be amazing
and yes, the only way in is to win. We
have a pair of tickets right now for Coller twenty
five six, one, seven, nine, three eight. You will need
a keyword, and the keyword is going to be reality
because in my house, all my wife watches is reality TV.

(00:28):
Obviously the Golden Bachelor we cover on this show. Reality
TV shows have been around forever. You any favorites, lease.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Well, I remember like like when reality TV first started,
you had you know, you had the Osbourne's, you had
this civil life with Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, and
then you went into the real world which was huge.

Speaker 4 (00:50):
Yeah, and then the Kardashians.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
But like when you talk about like competition reality shows
like The Bachelor, The Amazing Race and Survive, I have
to say my favorite of all time because I've watched
so many versions is the Bachelor franchise. Like, if you
think about it, You've got The Bachelor, the Bachelor at
Bachelor in Paradise, now the Golden Bachelor, and I think
they just keep reinventing themselves in a way that you know,

(01:15):
we were saying off the air. Sometimes it doesn't hit,
but it has hit more than it hasn't.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
Well, it's definitely the most successful franchise absolutely in reality TV.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
I would have to say, yeah. I mean they have
a lot of viewers. They do well, otherwise it would
be canceled. Same thing with Survivor. You might think to yourself,
people still watch Survivor. I mean it's the forty ninth season.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Yeah, I gotta be honest. I didn't know it was
still long.

Speaker 5 (01:37):
But when The Survivor first came on, I remember watching
the first couple of episodes. I remember the guy from
Rhode Island that won I think the first season and
then went to prison for tax evasion.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
Right, well, there was that Richard.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Yeah, yeah, I think the very first might have been
you know, correct me if I'm wrong. In the real world, Yeah,
rober early nineties. That was kind of the first one.
And then I think for Family maybe the Osborne's was.

Speaker 4 (02:01):
The Osbourne's definitely right, that took.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
You inside the home, you got a behind the scenes look.
And then The Kardashians, of course, is probably one of
the biggest, which was created by Ryan Seacrest.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Oh yeah, our brother Harolyah.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
Yeah, that was yeah, that's I mean, that's is that
still on The Kardashians.

Speaker 5 (02:20):
I really liked Amazing Race because it kind of took
you around the world in a creative way.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
And I was a big fan of Fear Factor. Was
Joe Rogan right coming back?

Speaker 4 (02:31):
He used to come in all the time studio Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Infamously Joe Rogan down the hall at jam In Santy.
He came in because he was doing comedy in Boston
and uh and he put Santy in a chokehold and
he knocked him up because he's an MMA fighter. Oh yeah,
Santy went legit out. He has the video. It's probably
posted on his social Wow. But That's coming Back hosted
by Johnny Knoxville Bill.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Oh really yeah, now Johnny Knoxville. Which show was that Jackass?
Which was kind of show?

Speaker 4 (03:00):
Yes, it definitely was.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Ja Yeah for me, it was the VH one shows
and MTV obviously Jersey Shore I did watch and that's
still around.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
But wo Then there was like Flavor of Love.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
That was a good one for two years.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Yeah, and then Rock of Love remember that one, Brett Michaels.
There was another dating one that was good that was
on VH one. MTV had some good ones.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
They had the original great ones.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Oh yeah, good Morning Morning, Cue Whinny Yesterday. That was
hysterical satan.

Speaker 6 (03:36):
So my favorite shows, I would have to say is
Love at First Sight and Love is Blind, Absolutely love
those shows.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
Have a great day, guys, Thank you.

Speaker 5 (03:46):
Hey.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Reality question? Uh is below Deck considered a reality show?

Speaker 4 (03:51):
It is Dudley's catch.

Speaker 5 (03:53):
I like below Deck, Top Chef, Hell's Kitchen, The Apprentice.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
The Apprentice is one of the originals.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
And the issue with a lot of these reality TV
shows is, you know, they create drama, you know, they
create storylines, you know, because they.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Want it to be a certain way.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
And that was one of the criticisms of The Golden
Bachelor the first season, there wasn't enough juice. You watched
the reality shows for the juice.

Speaker 5 (04:15):
Well, I mean tonight, you know, the Golden Bachelor starts
and mel Owens is the Golden Bachelor, and he just
strikes me as a flat tire.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
You know what I mean. I'm sorry. He just is
bad energy.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
You just did your entertainment at seven ten and we
played the sound of him tire.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
He sounds like a bowl. I think it started in
two thousand and two, so I watched it. Shut up.
I don't know. I'm not into this. I don't think
this one. No, but we'll see.

Speaker 5 (04:43):
I don't know, but I will say they grabbed me
with the first season of The Golden Bachelor.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
I thought it breathed new life into the franchise.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
And I think that the ladies are not going to
get along as well as the first season did, because
that was one of the things that my son Riley
was saying, like they were all like two on me.
I feel like maybe this season there might be some
cat fights.

Speaker 5 (05:03):
Yeah, I think Riley, your son said it. He said
the women were more in love with each other than
they were with the German Bachelor. Yeah, and he ended
up being a creep right.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
Oh like Gary next level creep?

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (05:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
And by the way, Bill, who could forget your favorite
one of all time? The Real Housewives?

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Oh yeah?

Speaker 5 (05:25):
Remember I actually vowed to never mention the Real Housewives
on this show, and I never did until that monster
called into the show.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
Teresa Juday's secondary moment. She had a little spat on
the air with Billy.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
And I said to you, no, I don't do real housewives.
I never have.

Speaker 5 (05:43):
Oh, we got to put her on. She's good, Teresa,
and right away she attacked me.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
She definitely did. But we held our ground with her.
We definitely did.

Speaker 7 (05:52):
So.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
The new season of Survivor is airing right now, season
forty nine.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
Crazy, it's been on that long.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
We were just talking about reality shows a few minutes ago,
and Shannon Fairweather, who is a local girl, is on
the show. She grew up listening to Kiss When to Wait,
and she's in the studio. Welcome to the Billy and
Lisa Show, Shannon.

Speaker 8 (06:11):
So good to be here. It's so funny to be here.
I just have to say, because I grew up watching
this show, and I grew up going to school with
my mom listening to this show. So to be here
it's very full circle. It's very cool.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Well, your mom, Julia's in studio with us too.

Speaker 5 (06:25):
Your mom and dad owned the greatest bar in Boston,
which is arguably the greatest bar in Boston.

Speaker 8 (06:33):
Without a doubt, without a doubt and speaking of full circle,
you know the reason why I was so inspired to
go on Survivor was actually because of Boston Rob, who
I know you both know in love. I mean, who
doesn't love Boston Robe.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
I'll go way back with Boston.

Speaker 8 (06:45):
Y're in that chair several Josh, everybody goes way back
with Boston Rob. And I was I think like seven
when he went on the show, and I was so
inspired by him going on. And we were just at
the Greatest Bar on Monday with him at the Survivor
caf at the Greatest Bar, which is a whole nother ordeal.
If anyone's looking for a Fijian experience in Boston, they
can go to the Greatest Bar.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
So go ahead. There's a watch party tonight.

Speaker 8 (07:08):
There is there's a watch parket party actually every week.
And if you want to play some Survivor games, if
you want some what is it? Mom?

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Savice?

Speaker 8 (07:16):
We got Savic?

Speaker 1 (07:17):
We love Yes, who doesn't love Sevich? You didn't know
what Savice was.

Speaker 8 (07:21):
I'm all set on Savich's the.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
Greatest serving Savich Survivor food exactly.

Speaker 8 (07:28):
It's quite the level of from me the chicken fingers
right exactly.

Speaker 5 (07:32):
Wow, Okay, so how did you land apart on the show?

Speaker 8 (07:38):
A lot of casting, you know, a lot of casting,
a dream and determination. That's how I got on the show.
But for those who do want to go on the show,
I just want to say, it's so possible, right, you
see these opportunities. You see Jeff Probes come out and
he says, do you want to be on Survivor? And
the truth is, you can actually get on the show.
It's really funny. You just send a video and it
can really happen.

Speaker 5 (07:58):
Jeff Probes the host of Sir However, he's actually there
for the auditions.

Speaker 8 (08:02):
So not for the auditions, I'm speaking of the commercials
that come on when you're watching the show. So all
the super fans know that in between the shows, on
the commercials, Jeff comes out and he says, this could
be you, This could really be you. You could come
out and play this game. And so I saw that
one day and I was like, you know what, I
really could actually, I really could play this game. So
I sent in a video and a lot of casting,

(08:24):
a lot of process, a whole year, really a whole journey.
But they all do such a great job, and you.

Speaker 7 (08:29):
Know, I am.

Speaker 8 (08:31):
Yeah for the show Island right right, and you know,
as a Boston girl who loves her her trips to
Florida and who has never been camping, it was definitely
an adjustment.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
They tell you, like where you're going to be, so
you know how to pack, or like how does that work?

Speaker 8 (08:49):
Oh there's no packing. Yeah, there's no packing. It's very legit.
We're not brushing our teeth, we're not showering. So something
I actually had a practice was like going in the
ocean and figuring out to like how to make sure
my hairding gets super not. So that was like a
process for me. But in terms of in terms of
like really getting ready for the show, for me, it
was mental because I was like, if I can mentally
prepare for this experience, I can handle anything. I can

(09:11):
handle the rain or the challenges or the mental parts.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
Did you change the way you ate before you started
the show?

Speaker 8 (09:17):
I just tried to eat more. Everyone tries to kind
of gain some weight going out there so that you
have a little extra meat on your bones before you
go out, so then you know you have a little
extra nourishment like in your tummy.

Speaker 5 (09:27):
Now I know we have to be very careful. Okay, yeah, yes,
we don't want to give anything away. Can you at
least tell us what the hardest part for you was
the hardest.

Speaker 8 (09:40):
One thing that was hard for me was while I
was out there, I missed my boyfriend's thirtieth birthday. Oh
and as someone who just like really loves my family,
you know, I went to Bentley University partially just to
be close to my mom, just partly, I'm to say,
close to home. It was hard to be away from
them and you're completely no contact, and there's something hard
about that. But as the days go on, it actually

(10:01):
becomes really beautiful because you get this whole new perspective
on your life because you're so detached, because you're so
far away that the appreciation that you have for not
only a home cooked meal or a bed, but for
the people in your life. That was just such a
great gift that I got from the experience.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
So for somebody who doesn't even camp, because neither.

Speaker 5 (10:20):
Do, yeah, yeah, yeah, you slept on the ground yea
in the jungle like of Fiji.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
Do they give you bug spray?

Speaker 8 (10:29):
So yeah, you have buck spray, You have bug spray,
and you have sunscreen. You know, they actually used to
not give you those things. But I think people were
like suffering so badly. They were like, let's I was
a lot, just a little bit, you know. But in
terms of sleeping on the ground, I don't know. I
know you haven't watched the show in a while, but
the shelters are not comfortable. I don't think there's any
such thing as a comfortable survivor shelter. I think that's

(10:51):
a myth. I think it's a legend. So I actually
prefer find, yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
And everything and create a roof and yeah.

Speaker 8 (10:57):
Like you make a little bed. And the nights there
are so crazy because you really do fall asleep once
the sunsets, you know, and that's something I wasn't used to.
And you don't know what time it is, so you
fall asleep when the sunsets and you wake up with
the sunrise, and so all night you're waking up and
your only ability to recognize how long was I just
asleep for? Was the stars moving above you.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
She has things crawling on you, oh.

Speaker 8 (11:22):
Yeah, oh yeah, something you get woken up by, like
a little crab on your foot, or like one time
a rat ran across my body, actually right over your body.
Right over my body.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
Did you ever get bit by anything?

Speaker 8 (11:32):
Or I actually still have a little like bug by
on my hand. I'm not sure where that where that happened.
But you're you're out there. You're definitely out there.

Speaker 5 (11:40):
Okay, contrary to what you believe. I did watch several
seasons okay, okay, but I always wondered, where's the camera
crow sleeping out like they in a fancy hotel a
mile away or something or.

Speaker 8 (11:54):
Yeah, so I wouldn't call it fancy necessarily, but they're
definitely set up out there in Fiji nowadays, there's up
and one thing I really appreciate about the experience is
actually how incredible the camera crew is out there, Like
CBS Survivor, they're legit, they've been doing it for so long,
and to see the dedication of everyone on that team,

(12:14):
it's it's incredible. It's amazing what they do. And there's
people out there with you twenty four seven. So you
wake up in the middle of the night, you sit up.
There's a camera guy right there. Yeah, in the night,
in the night around not necessarily creeping, you know, he's
like standing there.

Speaker 5 (12:29):
He's well, do you ever try to like bribe one
of them for like a sand words, you know, offer
them a gift card to the greatest bar or something.

Speaker 8 (12:38):
I did my best to like befriend them the best
I could, But I feel like the most I was
able to get out of them was just like someone
who smelt fresh right and.

Speaker 3 (12:46):
Can also like you feel a little bit safer knowing
that there is somebody out there with you.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (12:51):
Yeah, quickly you said something off the air, you said
the show wouldn't be what it is without the host
Jeff Brobs.

Speaker 8 (12:58):
You meant that, absolutely meant that, you know, Jeff Probes
is like a living legend to me, specifically, someone is
such a big fan of the show. Going out there,
I didn't know what to expect. I'm like, is Jeff
really as involved as it seems? And Jeff lives, breathe survivor.
You can't doubt that, You can't question that. And the
enthusiasm that he brings to the show and the way

(13:19):
he really cares about the cast two is really really impressive.
It's incredibly thorough and genuine. So Jeff is the real deal.

Speaker 4 (13:27):
You're the secret sauce about Jeff? He really is.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
Yeah, and you won that's amazing. I'm kidding. Well, they
were just kidding. Well, they're not going to email Bill.

Speaker 3 (13:42):
From the Planet Fitness Kiss one of eight studios.

Speaker 4 (13:45):
We're back with Villy and Lisa in the morning.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
All right, So the Bruins home opener is tonight at
the TD Garden against the Chicago Blackhawks. A lot of
expectations on the Bes and this season will all be
watching And if you want to watch inside the TV
and we have a pair of tickets right now for you,
be called twenty five at six one seven nine three
one one one eight and you will be at the
home opener tonight. You'll need a keyword, and the keyword

(14:11):
nice and easy is going to be Bruins. And how
about this, Speaking of the Bruins, how about the president
of the Boston Bruins on the phone right now, Cam Neely,
not just because of the new season, but because of
Comics Come Home, which is coming up next month.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
We love that event.

Speaker 7 (14:28):
The the oh.

Speaker 5 (14:31):
Yeah, and back to the bone is a keyword, because
we have a Cam Neely from your Boston Bruins on
the phone.

Speaker 7 (14:39):
Cam you there, buddy, I am Billy. I see what
you did there?

Speaker 1 (14:43):
You know, n't smooth, buddy.

Speaker 4 (14:44):
Come on, hey, Lisa, right, I'm great.

Speaker 5 (14:48):
Cam.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
Now became your theme song? Is it still your theme song?

Speaker 7 (14:55):
I don't have a theme song. You know. They should
play that long time ago as well.

Speaker 5 (15:01):
Okay, but I'm just saying, when you walk into the
luxury suite, the presidential suite at the TV Garden before
the game, they should play bad to the Bone and
then you waved everybody.

Speaker 7 (15:13):
That's not a bad idea.

Speaker 5 (15:15):
Here we go again, buddy, comics, come home. How many
years is this?

Speaker 7 (15:20):
This is twenty nine. We lost a couple during the
COVID years, but this is twenty nine, which is kind
of crazy if you think about it.

Speaker 5 (15:30):
And it's really a beautiful story. I was there at
the beginning. It's a beautiful story. How it was born.
We get new listeners to the show every day.

Speaker 7 (15:40):
Cam.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
Can you briefly tell us the story how it was born?
The foundation?

Speaker 7 (15:45):
Yeah. So, just before I got traded, my father was
having seiziers. This is April of eighty six. He started
having caesars. I got traded in June and subsequently found
out he had a brain tumor. And then while my
dad was going through that, my mother wasn't well and
ended up having cancer of the secum, which is part

(16:05):
of the colon. So you know, as a professional athlete,
you get asked to do a lot of charitable things,
and I was like, Okay, if I'm going to give
my time, I want to make it more meaningful. So
I got involved with more cancer related charities. And then
I said, well, as a family member of a cancer patient,
I kind of saw some things that were needed for today.

(16:27):
I'm a big believer in research obviously, but I noticed
that there was a gap to be able to help
patients and families today. So while playing in Vancouver, the
Canucks were heavily associated with the Ronald McDonald House, and
I really liked that concept. So I, a long story short,
ended up connecting with Tufts Medical Center at the time

(16:50):
New England Medical Center and they said, well, we have
a vacant wing. If you want to renovate that, you're
welcome to do so. And that was the the birth
of the Neely House, the memory of my parents. It's
really to help cancer patients and families and we've had,
you know, since it's open, we've had over forty thousand families.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
It's amazing.

Speaker 7 (17:13):
It really is. I mean, it just gives you an
idea of the need for a facility like that. And
you know, we're very blessed with the support we've got.
As I've said many times, most everybody has been touched
by a cancer in one way, shape or.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
Form, well as it happens to Cam. I lost my
dad to a brain tumor.

Speaker 5 (17:29):
But it's amazing when you've seen the Neely House and
the foundation grow. I mean you really see your money
at work. And now we've got comics come Home. It's
happening again November eighth, and I know Dennis Leary traditionally
kicks off the show and it's one of the highlights
every single year. I always wanted to ask you, Cam,
when does he start rehearsing that.

Speaker 7 (17:52):
Oh yeah, I mean he does our event in Michael J.
Fox's event, and you know he hosts both of them,
and they're a week apart art. What I do know
is that he starts, you know, not long after both
events are done. You know, he starts cultivating ideas and
how he's going to kick off each each event. But
with the comedy show, I know he works on it

(18:14):
probably eight months leading up to and then really fun.
You know, his schedule is crazy right now, he's he's
in Ireland shooting a series. So you know, I give
him all the credit in the world for for not
only not only putting putting the show on and and
kicking it off, but inviting all the comics that have

(18:36):
come over all these years, and gratefully they have donated
their time, which also is a huge benefit to the foundations.

Speaker 5 (18:42):
And let's not forget Dennis Leary is also an outstanding actor.
I mean everything he's in, he's really good. And you've
got an outstanding lineup. Sebastian Menascalco is coming. Is this
his first time in comics come Home?

Speaker 7 (18:56):
Yes, it is, And we thought we might have had
him a couple of years ago, but schedule didn't permit.
He said, believe me, it'll be back, and he was
true to his words. So anybody that knows his comedy,
it's it's gold. So we're very excited to have Sebastian
this year.

Speaker 1 (19:12):
And I can't remember if you've had Sarah Silverman before.
She's hilarious.

Speaker 7 (19:16):
Oh, she's the right. She came early on in our benefit.
I don't know what year it was, but it was
early on and we're thrilled to have her back. She
is the right.

Speaker 5 (19:28):
Yeah, I got to tell you the Morning Show, the
entire Morning Show goes every single year and Lisa am
I lying.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
We just laugh one minute to the next.

Speaker 4 (19:35):
It's our favorite event of the whole year.

Speaker 7 (19:37):
Well, it's you know, the beauty of it is, you know,
everybody's going through something in life, right, and you know,
the last bunch of years has been very, very toxic.
If you if you will and to be able to
be able to you know, whether you're dealing with someone
that's not feeling well or ill, or whatever's going on

(19:57):
in your life, you can go to this event and
help raise money, but also laugh your butt off for
a couple hours. It's not a bad not a bad
way to spend an evening.

Speaker 5 (20:07):
You know, you're right, Cam, if you're feeling down, something's
going on with the family, why not go to one
of the best comedy events of the entire year. And
it's always at the TD Garden. Although it didn't start
there or did it camp.

Speaker 7 (20:19):
No, I mean, you know, initially I'd asked Dennis, would
you do a benefit for the foundation? I thought it
was just going to be him doing an hour set
and you know, we'll raise some money. And he said, listen,
I'm going to invite Thomics come home. Was really about
a lot of local comedians, you know, got their start
here in Boston, whether they're from Boston or in Massachusetts.

(20:41):
But you know, there's as you know, Bill, there's a
lot of great comedy houses in Boston area. So we
started the Orphium was twenty five hundred seats when we
sold out right away. We kept selling out. Then people
kept asking, you know, can you put me on a
waiting list? I want to go. Yeah. Then we went
to the Aganist Arena and I think it was six

(21:01):
or seven thousand feets and and then Dennis says, as
we were approaching in our twenty at Dennis goes, do
you think we can get the garden? I said, well,
I'm fairly certain we can get the garden, But do
you think we can sell it out? He goes, I
know we can sell it out.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
Yeah, You've got some connections at that garden.

Speaker 5 (21:18):
Speaking of the garden, cam my son Chris's company I
think is right above your office in the garden for
