thought that shingles may have affected her vocal cord, right,
you know, because it was spreading this past weekend. I

phone yesterday, I couldn't believe. Now it was a technical glitch,
but it's just the timing of it couldn't have been
more perfect.

and they've created this really fun fan experience at the

go to it, and like they've got like memorabilia and
pictures and all this fun stuff regarding Survivor.

And isn't it going to be hosted by Boston Robb Yes, yep. Now,
producer Riley, who's standing next to me, probably doesn't know
who Boston Robb is. But he was on one of

the daves killed, sending love to his family and asking

for compassion, and I meant it.

Nor was it my intention to blame any specific group
for the actions of what it was obviously a deeply
disturbed individual. I don't think the murderer who shot Charlie
Kirk represents anyone. This was a sick person who believed
violence was a solution and it isn't ever.

To recap, Kimmel was taking off TV because of comments
he made about the Charlie Kirk gilling. Last night. He
reached out to Charlie Kirk's a widow, Erica, over the weekend.

A very beautiful moment. I don't know if you saw
this on Sunday. Erica Kirk forgave the man who shot
her husband. She forgave him. That is an example we
should follow if you believe in the teachings of Jesus
as I do. There it was, that's it, a selfless

act of grace forgiveness from a grieving widow. It touched
me deeply.

He got emotional several times, really emotional during the speech
last night. He also mentioned the fans for sticking by him.

To know him well is to admire him immensely, even
if he takes the whole summer off.

President of the United States made it very clear he
wants to see me and the hundreds of people who
work here fired from our jobs. Our leader celebrates Americans
losing their livelihoods because he can't take a joke.

By the way, some ABC affiliates are still holding out
keeping Kimmel off TV. They say more than twenty four
percent of affiliates across the country. All kinds of theories
as to why Disney was so determined to cancel Kimmel,
and I'm sure we'll see more and more theories out there,
but that's what went down last night.

Yeah. The new one is that Bob Iger at Disney
wanted to kind of straighten the ship, get away from
the politics for he retires, to get Disney more aligned
with like you know what they do that's one theory.
I mean, who knows. I think. My opinion is I
think that, you know, kimill should leave politics out of it,
and the President should stop tweeting insults at Jimmy Kimmel.

I mean it's upsetting. Doesn't the president have to run
the world. I mean, like him or not, he's running
the free world and he's tweeting insults at Kimmel. So
maybe if they both just Kim's funny.

Yeah, no, I totally agree. K Kimmel was creative.

But I agree, I'd love to see them take politics
out of late night TV. It's they're entertainment shows. And
I'd love to see the presidents stop with the ridiculous tweets.

Yeah, he was at the UN speaking yesterday, you know,
handling world business, but then he put out a tweet
towards Kimmel, and it's like, just step away. That's my opinion,
But who.

Am I Especially in the middle of your address to
the UN General Assembly, there is no focus on business. Yeah,
there's so much going on in the world. But again,
both sides just need to back off a little bit.

Like, I love Kimmel's feud with Matt Damon. Yeah, I
love money and it's fake, it's it's creative. Yeah, the
mean tweets, legendary segments. Yeah. And then Gamo, who doesn't

older days late night shows, it was all about entertaining people,
give people an escape before for bed, and there was
never politics. And I just again, I just think lose
some of the anger.

So while Kim's Kimmel's back, So do we think that
these you know, affiliates will eventually bring Kimmel back? I
don't know.

I mean, you never know what's behind decisions that people making,
giant conglomerates. I think it's I think it's kind of weird,
and I think it's kind of weird the way they
cancel Colbert. You know, he's still going to be on
until mid next year, and yet he's canceled. That didn't
make much sense to me either, right right, it's true.

because I could see this guy's heart.

Human, but he could barely fit in this private airplane seat.
And he started talking to us describing what it was
like to go through a day in the life of
just being him and his weight. Like he would say,

you know, I never turned the radio down in the
car because when I pull up to a stoplight, I

up to bury the sound of my own breath wheezing.
Every morning that he would wake up, he said, as
soon as he would wake up, he would thank God
that he didn't die that night, because he felt like
he was going to die every night went to sleep.

I think for me and my team, the doctor, the organization,

back one hundred percent not rushing it. But I haven't

is I'm not working out rehabbing six days a week
for no reason.

then you went into the real World which was huge,
and then the Kardashians. But like when you talk about
like competition reality shows like The Bachelor, The Amazing Race,

and Survivor, I have to say my favorite of all
time because I've watched so many versions is the Bachelor franchise. Like,
if you think about it, you've got The Bachelor, the
Bachelor at Bachelor in Paradise, now the Golden Bachelor, and
I think they just keep reinventing themselves in a way
that you know, we were saying off the air. Sometimes
it doesn't hit, but it has hit more than it

has well.

It's definitely the most successful franchise in reality TV.

I would have to say yeah. I mean they have
a lot of viewers. They do well, otherwise it would

Survivor first came on, I remember watching the first couple
of episodes. I remember the guy from Rhode Island that

And it makes you wonder all these reality shows over
the years, did you have a favorite?

Well, I remember, like like when reality TV first started,
you had you know, you had the Osbourne's, you had
this civil life with Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie, and
then you went into the real World which was huge,
and then the Kardashians. But like when you talk about
like competition reality shows like The Bachelor, The Amazing Race,

and Survivor, I have to say my favorite of all
time because I've watched so many versions is the Bachelor franchise. Like,
if you think about it, you've got The Bachelor, the
Bachelor at Bachelor in Paradise, now the Golden Bachelor, and
I think they just keep reinventing themselves in a way
that you know, we were saying off the air. Sometimes
it doesn't hit, but it has hit more than it

has well.

It's definitely the most successful franchise in reality TV.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
I would have to say yeah. I mean they have
a lot of viewers. They do well, otherwise it would
be canceled. Same thing with Survivor. You might think to yourself,
people still watch Survivor. I mean it's the forty ninth season. Yeah,
I gotta be honest.
Speaker 3 (29:12):
I didn't know it was still on. But when the
Survivor first came on, I remember watching the first couple
of episodes. I remember the guy from Rhode Island that
won I think the first season and then went to prison.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
For tax evasion. Right, well, there was that Richard. Yeah, yeah,
I think the very first might have been you know,
correct me if I'm wrong, The Real World, Yeah, Rob,
early nineties, that was kind of the first one. And
then I think for Family maybe the Osbourne's.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
It was the Osbourne's definitely.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
Right, that took you inside the home, you got a
behind the scenes look. And then the Kardashians, of course,
is probably one of the biggest, which was created by
Ryan Seacrest. Oh yeah, our brother hare oyah. Yeah, that
was yeah, that's I mean, that's is that still on
the Kardashians. Yeah, yeah, it's who.

I really liked Amazing Race because it kind of took
you around the world in a creative way. And I
was a big fan of Fear Factor. Oh I fear
That was Joe Rogan right coming back.

He used to come in all the time studio.

Yeah, infamously Joe Rogan down the hall at jam and
Santy he came in because he was doing comedy in
Boston and uh, and he put Santy in a chokehold
and he knocked him out because he's an MMA fighter.
Oh yeah, Santy went legit out. He has the video,
it's probably posted on his So wow. But that's coming

of re y It definitely was, so it makes sense.
Yeah for me, it was the v H one shows
and MTV. Obviously Jersey Shore I did watch and that's
still around. But then there was like Flavor of Love.

That was a good one for two years.

Yeah, and then Rock of Love remember that one. Brett
Michaels was another dating one that was good that was
on VH one, MTV had some good ones.

So my favorite shows, I would have to say is
Love at First Sight and Love is Blind, Absolutely love
those shows.

Yeah. And the issue with a lot of these reality
TV shows is, you know, they create drama, you know,
they create storylines, you know, because they want it to
be a certain way. And that was one of the
criticisms of The Golden Bachelor the first season, there wasn't
enough juice. You watch the reality shows for the juice.

Well, I mean tonight, you know, the Golden Bachelor starts
and mel Owens is the Golden Bachelor, and he just
strikes me as a flat.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
Tire, you know what I mean.

You just did your entertainment at seven ten and we

the first season of The Golden Bachelor. I thought it
breathed new life into the franchise.

get along as well as the first season did, because
that was one of the things that my son Riley
was saying, like they were all like too chummy. I
feel like maybe this season there might be some cat fights.

Yeah, I think Riley, your son said it. He said
the women were more in love with each other than
they were with The Golden Bachelor. Yeah, and he ended
up being a creep right.

but not talk about the best competition show, The Challenge
going on for over thirty seasons now, definitely one of
the best.

Yeah. So you had The Real World and then you
had the Challenge. Yeah I don't even remember that. Sorry,
you had the rail World and you had Road Rules
where they would take him on the road, and then
they put them together and picked the contestants from each
show and had the Challenge, which is still on.

I've never watched that.

Oh, it's so good. There's a local guy that's been
on a bunch of them CT he's local. And then
don't forget Ashley down the Hall was on the rail World.
Oh that's right, she was, Oh that was right, Yeah,
she was there. They had a Boston season, they did,
They did, I think early on.

Yeah they did. Oh my god, because we had one
of the guys on.

But when you think about the industry that reality TV became,
I mean it's massive. Listen to all these shows.

and so many shows that I completely forgot about.

Do you guys remember Shot at Love with Chila Tequila?

That show was wild. I remember that Chila Tequila. There
was a local contestant on that show too, from my
city in Malden. Really yeah. Yeah, they were like completely
unhinged these shows.

I just want to make note of how absolutely unhinged
early two thousands reality TV was. I don't know if
anybody remembers that show Next on MTV, and it was
like somebody would get off the bus and then their
date would be waiting for them and they'd take one
look at.

Them and be like no.

And then they were like really problematic shows like The
Swan where they were essentially like, this woman is so ugly,
We're getting her extensive plastic surgery to change her life.

I remember it was like one season and then it
just became like a horror show. Remember Joe Millionaire and
then we found he came in and then we found
out that he wasn't a millionaire.

Yes, it was a complete fraud. Fraud. Yeah, and they
were all vying for the millionaires love. Oh, we're going
to be set for life.
