Speaker 1 (00:00):
Now this morning show in Boston, Billie and Lisa in
the morning.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
It's just a great start to my day on kids Away.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Well, let's get the day started.
Speaker 4 (00:11):
Then.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
It is a Wednesday, and all I know is we have.
Speaker 4 (00:18):
Some sun outside right now.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Yeah, little sun.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
But I also see some very dark clouds off in
the distance Atleasta.
Speaker 4 (00:24):
What does that mean for us?
Speaker 5 (00:25):
Now, it's just gonna you're going to see increasing clouds today.
But it's tempt still in the low seventies, So that's good. Okay,
So you can still have outdoor plans and might see
a pop up shower tonight.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
Got something to do do it today? Justin how those
chickens do. And I worry about them every night when
I go to bed. Really yeah, I keep thinking something
just tragic is going to happen to those poor chickens
up there in the wild.
Speaker 4 (00:48):
You're not hoping for that, are you? No, I'm not
all forms of life.
Speaker 6 (00:53):
Well, we have nine chickens. They're in my garage in
a little kind of makeshift coop and we built the
coop out back, so we're waiting to predator proof it.
We have to do some digging this weekend. Hopefully it
doesn't rain too much and then put them out there
in the coop. But yeah, that we love the chickens.
My wife loves them, my daughter loves them.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
They have names. Yeah, so you know, God forbid, I
hope nothing happens.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
And you haven't seen a single wild animal sniffing around yet.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
Nothing.
Speaker 6 (01:18):
We don't let them out, you know, free range in
the yard, you know, with a big yard because.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
This hawks, oh God, nature takes its course.
Speaker 6 (01:29):
And you know when the hawks come down and grab
the chicken, they can't pick them up, so they just
bite them and they leave them, which.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
Is now hawks are evil. Yeah, I mean they just
stalk their prey, they swoop down and then when they
see their moment that chicken doesn't have a prayer.
Speaker 6 (01:47):
Yeah, but we're gonna do a good job predator proofing it.
You know, there's raccoons, there's bobcats, possibly bears, I don't know.
We live right yeah, it woods. But thank you for caring.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
But it seems like a very sophisticated town you've built
for them up back.
Speaker 6 (02:01):
Well you should see the stuff my wife's been buying,
all kinds of chicken, stuffy chicken baskets, chicken signs, I
mean crazy.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
She's really lost her mind when it comes to the chicken.
Starting to get a little concerned.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
I can't wait for the eggs though.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
It'll begin. Oh, I'll bring you guys some eggs. That's
the best part of it. Yeah. So last night Lisa

sure because Lisa was being honored as the Woman of

our lives.
Speaker 3 (03:03):

your two boys, Max and Rye were all at the
same table. Her mom flew in from Bluffton.
Speaker 5 (03:10):
Yeah, it was nice having her here because you know,
they never get to see anything or you know, they
never get to go to anything.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
So it was nice that.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
I welled up well right next to our boss. I know,
he was sitting my to my immediate left. I had
to be careful. I didn't want to think of it.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
I think they'm Dylan had a good time.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
Yeah, you don't want to be whimpering next to the
boss now.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
But he stayed the entire he stayed until the very end.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
Yes, he did.
Speaker 2 (03:34):

She's really really attractive and very strong and has just
a passion for, you know, helping people.

but then he said next week they actually start building.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
I'm just saying, so that's tonight, right And when he
you have a gray streak in your hair speaking of
blow is that intentional? I'm just like I just noticed.

the Emerald.
Speaker 5 (07:43):
Necklace Conservancy all of the park systems that we have,
these beautiful park systems that I enjoy because I love
taking walks, you know that. Yeah, So it's party in
the park and I'm hosting it from twelve to pre Yeah. Again,
like everything kind of happened all at once, you know
what I mean, Like when you're looking at your calendar.
But I'm so excited because I've never been able to go.
They push the time back this year, so it starts
(08:06):
at twelve. Usually would start earlier so we would always
have the show, so I couldn't go.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
But this is the event, Billy. You love with all
the hats.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
Yeah, a lot of Derby like hats.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Oh, a lot of hats.
Speaker 5 (08:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (08:16):
So you're a busy woman.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
Place that's literally you.
Speaker 5 (08:21):
I'm literally getting my hair and makeup done in our
public restroom outside.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
I'm the lobby, all right. Last time you did that,
I snuck into the ladies room and got a little touchoup.
Speaker 11 (08:31):
Okay, let's not admit that the emerald necklace is a
real thing.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
I was introduced to it by my TV show Meet Boston.
It's like a beautiful area. It is beautiful, nice place
for walking and just a lot of flowers and yeah nice.
Speaker 6 (08:45):
All right, we'll have fun lease for everyone else. If
you want to leave a talk back for the show,
if you want to get your voice heard on the radio,

Speaker 3 (09:00):
Whenny, you have a gray streak in your hair?
Speaker 8 (09:03):
All right?
Speaker 3 (09:04):
Wow, the entertainment with the Billy Costa. I had never
noticed it until this morning. I turned right and it's
like eye, did you just cover it up? Oh my god, you.
Speaker 8 (09:23):
Do like flip my hair?
Speaker 4 (09:27):
Well, you know, lemonies dark have.
Speaker 8 (09:29):
Very dark features and dark hair, so.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
On the top.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
When I got some grays too.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
We all do oh yeah, back delight.
Speaker 9 (09:38):
Okay, but this one's telling me I'm half his age
gray he did.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
When you have a gray streak, it's awesome, Okay. Celts
and the Knicks back in Boston. I Game five a
win or go home situation for the Celts. They need
to win three games in a row. Jason Tatum gone
for the rest of the season and then some. He
(10:03):
had achilles surgery yesterday and recover he's going to take
a while.
Speaker 12 (10:07):
It's typically six to twelve months, and Tatum will, I'm
sure have around the clock treatment, but there are certain
timelines that you have to abide. By so he'll be
non weight bearing and unable to walk on his foot
for a bit, and then you slowly progress being able
to walk with a little bit of pressure.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
I got to tell you something about the achilles. I've
had like a tiny, tiny tear in my achilles for
about five months. It will not go away. I can't
even imagine the pain if it's ruptured. Yeah, I think
it kind of rolls up into your leg. They have
to go in and kind of pull it down and
reattach it.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
He was crying in the wheelchair.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Yeah, I felt so bad. And by the way, don't
forget we have an in studio bet tonight whether or
not Nick's fan Timothy Shalome is going to be in
the TD guard for the game. Justin and Lisa say yes,
he'll be there. Whinnie and I say no, I have.
Speaker 5 (11:06):
A little information about that. I just saw daily mail Justin.
I mean, again, this doesn't really it looks like Kylie.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
Is in the Turks and Caicos right now with a girlfriend.
Speaker 6 (11:16):
A yeah, but we never said I never bet that Kylie.
I think Timmy's going to be there, right.
Speaker 5 (11:20):
But so it actually might work in our favor that
she's kind of away now and he can come up here.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
There's the mush. She went to the church.
Speaker 9 (11:31):
I hate you, Billy, I have your bag.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
I saw this her.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
I'm like, wow, she gets around.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
Yeah, yeah, and that's exactly how the mush happens. Okay,
seconds and she's not even in this zip code, right,
Kylie Jenner. But seconds after I made the bet, she
flew to the Turks.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (11:54):
Well, Whennie made the bet initially to me and then Billy,
you jumped in on her side, and right away I
knew she was going to lose your.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
He was also the biggest moves in the whole world.
They called the mush because everything touched her mush.
Speaker 4 (12:05):
Can we go to the racetrack and to tell we'll
give him his tickets already ripped up?
Speaker 3 (12:09):
Yeah, okay, I think there will be celebrities in the
crowd tonight.
Speaker 8 (12:14):
But I needed that money to help pay for my grays.
Speaker 4 (12:19):
Get a little touch up.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
Yeah, you could go to like a body shop and
they've got sprays and like they have stick paint sticks.
That's what you can get a paint stick.
Speaker 4 (12:29):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
So Bill Belichick is a schedule for an interview with
Michael Strahan this coming Friday morning on Good Morning America.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
This promo is running on ABC SO.
Speaker 13 (12:39):
New England Patriot and now University of North Carolina football
coach and legend. Now this week, she's live on GMA
Michael Straighthand with Bill Belichick The Morning Exclusive Friday Live
on Good Morning America.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
Yeah, the question is will Jordan be there and will
she do something to screw up his appearance? This could
be another bet.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
I think she'll probably be there, me too.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
You think she'll be like she was in the CBS interview.
I think she will be there and she's gonna screw
it up.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
I don't think so.
Speaker 5 (13:09):
I think he has a PR person now and I
think she'll be there like in support of him, like
he was in support of her at the pageant.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
Can I mention my one connection to the pageant that
I'm oh?
Speaker 5 (13:18):
Yes, So yesterday I was at Russo and they were
the sponsor of the pageant up in Maine, and the
manager of the.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
Salon was one of the judges.
Speaker 5 (13:27):
She said The New York Times was reaching out to
her like legit ap New York Times like real publications,
wanting to know what the judging process was.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (13:38):
Yeah, she loved the girl that won. She said, the
girl that one is absolutely stunningly beautiful.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
And wasn't the guy who hosted it from Mario Rossertu.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
Yeah, he's in charge of the pageant.
Speaker 4 (13:46):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Yeah, okay, who knew?
Speaker 3 (13:49):
Red Sox, by the way, lost to the Tigers in
eleven innings last night. Just announced Pete.
Speaker 4 (13:55):
Rose is Yes. Did they play a Fenway? No? No,
not a fund No, they're in Detroit. Waka.
Speaker 6 (14:01):
I was going to say, because I know you were
at Fenway yesterday, I certainly was, you know the mush thing.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
But you know, imagine if I was at Fenway during
batting practice and they lost the game two hours later
by fourteen runs, that's the mush. Okay, So justinounce Pete
Rose is no longer banned from baseball. Neither is Shoeless
Joe Jackson. Both were reinstated yesterday, making them eligible for
(14:30):
the Baseball Hall of Fame. But Pete Rose is dead now.
But when he was alive, he said, give it to
me when I'm alive, or don't give it to me
at all.
Speaker 14 (14:40):
I don't see much sense and putting me on the
ballot after I die. Most of the people who root
it for me my whole career. Would love to see
me in the Hall of Fame as a living player,
not as someone as ten feet under. What good would
it do my family? They put me in the Hall
of Fame after I die because I'm the one that
did the work. I'm the one and put the time in.
I'm the one who was dedicated to the game of baseball.
(15:03):
I was the one dedicated to my teammates and for
the game of baseball in general. I tried to sell
the game for my twenty four years as a Major
League baseball player by going after every day and busting
my ass and trying and entertain the people.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
I gotta tell you, gambling or not, he was one
of the greatest. He was amazing. Pete Rowles that you
guys are probably too young, Oh god.
Speaker 4 (15:26):
Oh greatest enter of all time.
Speaker 5 (15:27):
Did you know the career record for most HITSES four
fifty six by Pete Rosey is not in.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
The Hall of Fame?
Speaker 7 (15:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (15:34):
Yeah, anyone named that movie besides Billy No.
Speaker 5 (15:39):
Did you know the career record for most HITSES fifty
six by Pete Rosey was not in.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
The Hall of Fame.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
Jerry Maguire classic film by the Mercy.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
I haven't seen it. Oh, you got to say it
is classic. Justin ounce, Janet Jackson will perform and receive
an Icon Award at the American Music Awards May twenty
sixth in Vegas. And by the way, she starts her
Vegas residency next week. Just like Julie, She's an icon.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
I love her.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
And the Office spinoff called The Paper premieres in September
on Peacock.
Speaker 4 (16:12):
That was just announced.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
And Blake Shelton says post Malone inspired his new album.
Speaker 15 (16:18):
I mean in some ways he post Malone kind of
got me a fire lit under me. We had a
song last summer called pour Me a Drink. Somebody the
Frisco people.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
The Frisco people are in the house tea good song.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
Justin pour Me a Drink. I'm just saying.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
Post Malone comes to July Stadium May thirty. First, I
want to mark that down. Kasha, who by the way,
did our jingle Ball back in December, was on Jennifer
Hudson yesterday. Her song TikTok probably her biggest tip right
pretty She says she didn't expect anything else.
Speaker 16 (16:55):
It's weird because the dummer got the better, which was
confusing because I like to think of myself as a
fairly intelligent human being. But it just got dumber and
dumber and better and better. So when I listened to
the final product, I was like, this is too dumb.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
Kesha comes to the ex Infinity Center July twenty fourth.
Kim Kardashian wrapped up her testimony in France yesterday. I
Don't Forget You was robbed at gunpoint in twenty sixteen,
and she was wearing a giant diamond that apparently she
bought with the insurance money from the robbery.
Speaker 5 (17:29):
Yeah. I just thought it was really weird that she
was wearing like a ten million dollar necklace and a
chial about being duct taped and thrown in a bath tub.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
I just it was so strange.
Speaker 6 (17:40):
Right, Yeah, it was like a flex type thing.
Speaker 8 (17:43):
Maybe try to steal this one, right.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
Man, you're duct taped, that was and gagged in a bathtub.
Speaker 9 (17:52):
Maybe it was her being petty because she's like, ha ha,
you're over there.
Speaker 3 (17:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
Anyway, don't forget.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
Kim Kardashian is in a new TV show called All's
Fair Gonna be on Hulu. She plays a lawyer. We'll
actually gonna.
Speaker 5 (18:06):
Question our own boutique women representing women.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
You're not the only ones to suffer abuse.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
Plenty of women inflicted, don't they.
Speaker 4 (18:22):
She's like a lawyer, madam.
Speaker 8 (18:24):
I saw the whole trailer.
Speaker 9 (18:25):
It's based on, like Laura weiss Wassman, Weisserman or whatever.
Speaker 8 (18:29):
It's that Ryan guy that does everything. He hires the same.
Speaker 9 (18:32):
Five people, Ryan Murphy, Ye, Tim Kay, Sarah Paulson, niece Nash.
Speaker 8 (18:37):
Like you can already know who's gonna be in the
show American Horror Story.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
That's when he played. I think that was her first
acting game, right.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
It looks prettyoy this morning, spreading joy and positivity wherever
she goes.
Speaker 9 (18:49):
It's true he hires the same five people for everything.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
Anyway, you know he's keeping it tight.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
Once you get in his little war Tex, you're good.
It comes to Hulu in the fall. By the way,
our buddy Ryan Seacrest is going to be on Mark
and Kelly this Morning. Oh no, I used to host
that show. I know now he's coming back as a guest.
That's pretty cool. Cynthia ar Revo going to lead a
one woman production of Dracula, which is set to premiere
next year. In London's West End. She'll play all twenty
(19:17):
three roles. Ooh yeah, and you've got the wicked author.
Speaker 5 (19:21):
Least I did Gregory maguire next Wednesday, May twenty first
at Johnson, Maine for the book club.
Speaker 4 (19:26):
That's a big booking right there.
Speaker 8 (19:27):
I'm sorry all twenty three.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
Yeah, she's an amazing woman. That really amazing.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
Yeah, she's so talented.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
For the record, this morning, Tory Lanez is pulling through.
Oh good after being stabbed fourteen not seventeen times?
Speaker 8 (19:43):
Is that funny to you?
Speaker 3 (19:44):

Speaker 4 (20:10):
How you doing Ryan your mock countdown from.
Speaker 10 (20:16):
The Planet's fitness Kiss one Oway Studios. We're back with
Villy and Lisa in the Morning on Kiss one eight.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
Okay, so we are three days into the ticket Tag
contest right now. So I'm expecting a winner every single time.
The way it works is we're going to call a
name that person as fifteen minutes exactly to get back
to us. And if they do, Lise, what do they get?
Speaker 5 (20:37):
Okay, they get three day passes VIP passes to Boston Calling,
which is Memorial Day weekend at Harvard Athletic Complex. I
go every year. It is the event of the weekend.
There's people like t Pain coming, Luke holmbs, TLC, Avril Levine,
Dave Matthews band, Fallout Boy.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
There's something for everyone.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
Imagine seeing all these shows in one weekend as a VIP.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
Yeah, it's amazing.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
So here comes the name. Ready at Lil Underscore Lanai.
One more time at Lil Underscore Lenai. Not to be
confused with Linae. That's something else, although maybe she does
call it Lenae. Who knows. But fifteen minutes from now,
and if you call in within the fifteen minutes off,
you go to Boston calling, three day VIP passes.
Speaker 6 (21:24):
And what that person did was they entered on the
kiss Instagram. Remember that's what you have to do, isn't
just listen to win? You got to do the first step,
which is enter on the kiss Instagram the very first post.
You just all the directions to all right there, enter
and then listen to win. So I see the phone
lines are ringing, so hopefully we'll be a winner in
the meantime.
Speaker 17 (21:43):
Good morning, it's the Mayor of the South End. Today
is national donate a day's wages to charity Day. So
from listening to the show, I know I can donate
to Lisa's Rate a Reader, Billy's Dog Charity, Justice Recovery
Program charity. Let's see does when he hab a charity?
(22:05):
Wait a minute, I wrote it down here. It is
when he's rent fun.
Speaker 8 (22:09):
You have a great day everyone, that's right.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
The mayor really knows us.
Speaker 8 (22:13):
Thank you.
Speaker 6 (22:14):
Yeah, you want to pay it forward today it's raising
a reader.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
By the way, when did you say.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
You can rent someone to read to you bedtime?
Speaker 4 (22:26):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (22:27):
Guys, regular guy Bob here on time. I'll see.
Speaker 4 (22:30):
I've got a joke of the day for you.
Speaker 18 (22:32):
Where do you go when you hurt yourself playing peekaboo?
Speaker 3 (22:37):
You go to the ICU.
Speaker 6 (22:41):
We waited for Bob's returning there it is we go
Bob playing peekaboo.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
Yeah, joke of the day.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
We'll take it. We'll take anything on the talkbacks.
Speaker 8 (22:51):
Good Morning team.
Speaker 19 (22:52):
I may or may not have a fun fact for you,
But I was googling.
Speaker 18 (22:56):
The new TV show Real Housewives of Island and Rich
Tomorrow's wife is going to be one of them.
Speaker 20 (23:04):
That might be fun to watch.
Speaker 8 (23:06):
Have a good day.
Speaker 3 (23:07):
Oh do we have a confirmation on that?
Speaker 4 (23:09):
I don't. I don't know. So Rich Tomori used to
work here.
Speaker 6 (23:11):
His wife, Rosie, apparently rumored, is going to be on
the Real Housewives of Rhode Island. We did ask Rich
and he said he had how he worded it though,
I said what's going on here? And he said, I
have nothing to do with that, and say we have
nothing to do?
Speaker 4 (23:27):
Well, can we call him?
Speaker 3 (23:28):
Let's just call him.
Speaker 6 (23:29):
Well, he's probably sleeping, let's wake him up. He works,
he worked. I don't think he wants to talk about it.
Speaker 9 (23:34):
Yeah, they those contracts are aye. God, I did see
her pictures floating around for it. So and hey they
got married quick. I think she needed to be a
housewife for the show to start.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
You know what's interesting about Rich who, by the way,
was you before you? Justina is my mentor here? Yeah,
he's not even calling us when we're off the air.
Speaker 4 (23:54):
No.
Speaker 6 (23:55):
Remember, I wished him congratulations on his marriage, and he
left me on red. He did apology, guys, but he
read my messages didn't respond.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
Now I mentioned it.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
I complimented and congratulations, congratulated Rich a couple of times,
and I never heard of Is he ghosting us? No?
Speaker 14 (24:10):
No, no.
Speaker 6 (24:10):
I talked to him after he said he just it
was all hectic. He had just gotten married, so he
was kind of all over the place.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
That's Rich Damari Sinatra Sundays by the way, Cappo and he.
Speaker 5 (24:20):
Sang at my dad's eightieth birthday party. He drove all
the way to Pennsylvania. Yeah, he's a great, he's a
he's a great.
Speaker 8 (24:27):
Guyn Frank back from the dead.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
Well, yeah, that's what he's. Well, he's a lounge singer.
He's a crooner. Whinny stop tick, Whenny whinny thrower shot.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
I'm trying to get when you have a gray streak
in your here?
Speaker 18 (24:44):
Okay, okay, A quick question for Winnie, Hey, real quick,
does thee oh.
Speaker 21 (24:53):
My god, just said, oh my god, you can edit.
Speaker 4 (25:04):
That out of the West Coast feed.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
Yeah, let's be the Latin on.
Speaker 4 (25:07):
Hear that one, I think we have.
Speaker 3 (25:09):
I'm one and done?
Speaker 22 (25:11):
You know what?
Speaker 4 (25:11):
Can we be two and done?
Speaker 2 (25:12):
Sounds like he has a gray hair across her this morning?
Speaker 23 (25:15):
Light up, Winnie.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
Let's go to that line before you never good morning,
good morning? Oh Lena, is that you?
Speaker 2 (25:32):
That's me?
Speaker 19 (25:32):
Oh my god, I can't even believe it's shaking.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
Yeah, is it Lonee or Leni? It's yeah, Otherwise you'd
be a screened in porch.
Speaker 19 (25:46):
I get that off.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
Yeah, I'm a little I'm a little tired up plate
watching at least again an award. So okay, let's send Lisa,
tell her where she's going.
Speaker 5 (25:56):
Okay, you're going to Boston calling, but you get the
three day v I P he passes for you and
a guest, so you're covered.
Speaker 4 (26:05):
Now, do us a favorite? It's ane, she's not the porch.
Speaker 3 (26:13):
Do us a favorite? Tell all of our listeners how
you did it?
Speaker 19 (26:18):
I just tagged someone else on the empty Instagram post,
so easy. Yesterday I wasn't even tagged until yesterday. I
heard Lisa like announced who was going to be there,
and I was like, oh, I want to see them,
and I tagged it and here I Am today.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
Boom, you're a winner. Oh you go, Boston calling. That's
very cool. So congratulations. Hold on, Producer Riley's going.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
To get you there.
Speaker 19 (26:39):
Okay, thank you so much.
Speaker 17 (26:41):
Boom and Lisa.
Speaker 3 (26:46):
So, Lisa, it looks like driverless cars are coming to Boston.
That's right.
Speaker 5 (26:51):
Waimo, the self driving car company, is coming to Boston.
Speaker 24 (26:54):
A self driving taxi service will be hitting the streets
of Boston. Waimo, which is part of Google's parent company,
Alphabet Inc. It's planning to test a limited number of
vehicles in Boston neighborhoods on the mass Pike.
Speaker 5 (27:08):
Well, now, so this is the way it's going to work.
They're coming to Boston. So they're going to be Oliver Boston.
They're going to be a ninety three on the mass Pike.
But they'll have human autonomous specialists behind the wheel. So
what's happening is Weimo is getting to know our area
and once they know our area, then they'll have the
driverless cars available.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
And it begs the question, of course, would you get
in one, right? That's the question for me.
Speaker 4 (27:33):
Never right.
Speaker 5 (27:36):
I've been in the Tesla self driving mode with friends
and it was really scary.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
I have to say it was very scary.
Speaker 5 (27:43):
So I'm not getting in one of those. If I
have a different option, I'm going to use a different option.
I'll get in a regular taxi.
Speaker 6 (27:49):
Well, there's been some issues for sure in other cities
San Francisco or elsewhere in California. We've covered those issues
many times on this show.
Speaker 22 (27:57):
It was just going in the circles, like around the
fifth sixth times, that feeling was very uncomfortable where you're
strapped in, you can't open the door, and this vehicle
is just going in circles. So somebody obviously at the
control tower realized that there's a malfunction, and then they're
trying to fix it. But the kicker is they're trying
to fix it and they're trying to use my phone
(28:17):
to fix the problem.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
Here's a question. Okay, these are all hypotheticals. Okay, here's
a question. Let's say you're in your own car that
you are driving yourself and the driverless car hits you
or rams you.
Speaker 4 (28:31):
What do you do insurance wise?
Speaker 3 (28:32):
There?
Speaker 4 (28:33):
It's not like you're exchanging information with anybody.
Speaker 5 (28:36):
I think it's the parent company alphabet Anks responsibility and
they're going to pay you big time.
Speaker 6 (28:41):
Yeah, they have some kind of controller like that guy
just mentioned, right, They have people that are working somewhere
that are kind of monitor monitoring the cars. But yeah,
there's there's been a lot of issues while they were
rolling these out in other cities.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
We're in a way, MO. It was going the wrong way.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
We called custs over support and it stopped us right
here and wouldn't let us out of the car. And
we kept saying, hey, we're we're on a highway please,
cars kept honking at us, and.
Speaker 8 (29:07):
It would not move.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
It would not let us out, No one per customer support,
but actually move the way, MO.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
So now we're walking on Mopack and our Waimo is
still there. This is insane WAYMO.
Speaker 3 (29:23):
Now, at least you said you you said you were.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
In one Tesla has a self driving them.
Speaker 3 (29:28):
Right, Okay, So were you nervous?
Speaker 4 (29:30):
Were we were afraid?
Speaker 5 (29:31):
I was, and because they didn't tell me at first
what was going on, and then they told me, and
I just I don't know again, like I maybe I'm
more of a control freak, like I think like we
should just be behind the wheel holding the wheel right.
My concern though, is with the weaimo is getting stuck
inside like that one guy did where they locked the
doors and you can't get out.
Speaker 6 (29:52):
Yeah, I mean, eventually this is what it's going to be.
Eventually it's headed that way. They're all all taxis are
going to be driverless. Why do we have runs that way?
Speaker 8 (30:02):
I don't want to get away. I'm not getting in way, moo.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
But this is this is taking jobs away from people too.
Speaker 4 (30:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (30:09):
And there's that and trucks like tractor trailers. I mean
that Tesla's rolling those out. There be no drivers.
Speaker 9 (30:16):
We don't need that because what if it could crashed
with a bunch of you know, stuff on that could
be poisonous or for the environment or for people.
Speaker 6 (30:23):
And you I'm not saying I'll never get in one away, moo.
I mean I won't be like one of the first,
but you know, eventually, I guess I have to go somewhere,
like five minutes down the street, I'll jump in one.
Speaker 3 (30:34):
Well. You know what's interesting. I just discovered last week
that my car has driver Assist, which is for parking
or parking assist, and I won't use it. Like what
if I put parking assists and it bashes into the
car behind me, Like, what do I do have to
hang around?
Speaker 18 (30:49):
Now?
Speaker 5 (30:50):
It's interesting that you mentioned that because it's like the
more we use all of these automated systems, the less
we're using our own motor skills, like and that's a problem,
especially like for kids coming up, like they don't have
to do anything anymore.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
Hey, maybe we can protest. That is a protest.
Speaker 8 (31:05):
I'll go to.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
Right, Yeah, no, I will march.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
Yeah, me too.
Speaker 3 (31:12):
Oh, you know, Lisa will make the signs. And they're
not gonna be like everyday signs. They're gonna be designer signs.
Speaker 10 (31:20):
Now it's topic time for the Billy and Lisa in
the morning.
Speaker 3 (31:25):
Okay, So driverless cars are on their way to Boston.
That's the topic this morning. God, what's next? Pilotless planes?
I mean, I don't choke because you never know, call
me old fashioned. I don't know. I don't think I
would get in one. But let's go to John and Quincy.
You can kick things off. John. What do you think
driverless cars? John? Yello?
Speaker 9 (31:49):
John?
Speaker 4 (31:50):
Oh? Okay, one online one he's been holding for a while.
All right, let's go to one online one one. Good morning.
Speaker 18 (31:59):
Okay, maybe it's maybe it's Warren.
Speaker 3 (32:01):
I don't know, okay Warren all right, okay, okay, a
little bit different than Warren.
Speaker 8 (32:08):
Warren. Okay, w A r e n.
Speaker 6 (32:12):
It's hard because when they say they tel producer rally
their names sometimes they're muffled.
Speaker 4 (32:15):
The don't understand where.
Speaker 3 (32:16):
Sorry Warren Warren, good morning. So what do you think
driverless cars?
Speaker 18 (32:21):
Yeah? So I actually loved it. I experienced it for
the first time last week. I took a business trip
out to San Francisco for a massive like it conference,
and I wrote it like I don't know seven eight times.
I mean, surface is the service isn't perfect, but uh
it was. It was incredibly cool, I think being in it,
and I definitely think there's some hesitation because it's like
(32:44):
you say, there's nobody else in the car with you
except other passengers that you bring with you. But you know,
it was very conscientious. It has all these radar things
that looks like a Google you know, map car if
you will. And they're really nice vehicles there. Jaguar I
think it's like a Jaguar Pace. Oh wow, it's it's
a nice vehicle to write. And first of all, in it,
(33:06):
they're all new, clean and all the things that you
don't like about Uber or whatever. You know, those aren't there.
But of course there's also some people that hate them
because uh, you know, they're Uber drivers and they're taking
away from I don't know, I guess a job potentially
or yes, well Warren, does.
Speaker 2 (33:23):
The car talk to you at all while you're in it?
Speaker 17 (33:26):
No?
Speaker 18 (33:27):
So the way it works is it's all through the app.
And uh, there's uh they have they have audio microphones
in the car that are only used if you press
the button requesting help. They do have cameras on to
watch the inside of the car all the time, but
it tells you, just like Uber, you know your car
will meet you here, you know, three minutes and uh,
(33:48):
you know what, I never had a camp had that
happened a lot with Uber. Never had like get SFO
on the way in the guy like couldn't find me
somehow at SFO. I don't know how it seemed possible,
you know, no such problem with this guy. So well,
you know that this.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
Is so creepy though the camera's watching you.
Speaker 18 (34:04):
Oh yeah, it's yeah, but that's no different than anything
else though it's it's it's there to protect their property
and your safety. So if something happens, but I get it.
I mean, I just didn't think about it because there's
not like a screen in the thing that you know
where you're looking at yourself. It's just uh uh. You know,
they have strict rules no smoking, no eating, no alcohol,
(34:26):
stuff like that. But I think it's probably just a
mostly to make sure that it's a femless experience. And yeah,
the car pulls right up. You can set up auto
unlocked on your phone and then if you have that
set up, then as you walk up to the car,
it just unlocks and you can get in or well
then you can choose the music and all that good stuff.
Speaker 11 (34:45):
You know.
Speaker 4 (34:45):
Warn I love Uber drivers.
Speaker 3 (34:46):
It's just the car is always overly scented, like if
they could lose the scented tree. Were there scented trees
in the driverless car?
Speaker 18 (34:55):
No very natral smell. And they're all very clean. I
I mean it was barely It looked like a brand
new vehicle practically.
Speaker 6 (35:02):
Because the ubers are their own cars. You know, these
are probably cleaned by the people that work at Way
More Quick.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
Wan.
Speaker 4 (35:07):
What's the price compared to Uber for rides in the way.
Speaker 18 (35:11):
You know what it was absolutely competitive. I took you know,
several rides depends on you know, you know, there's surge
and other pricing, just like Uber. But it's like I
took one ride across town in San Francisco from uh,
you know, probably like three four miles. It was like
seven bucks.
Speaker 3 (35:27):
There you go.
Speaker 18 (35:28):
Another one that was like thirty bucks. It depends on
the time of day and where you're going.
Speaker 4 (35:31):
Well, thank you Warren and say hello to Wand.
Speaker 2 (35:38):
It was like really into it.
Speaker 4 (35:39):
Yeah, yeah, very informative.
Speaker 3 (35:41):
Yes, he made me want to fly to San Francisco
just to take the car.
Speaker 5 (35:45):
When he said it's competitive, wouldn't you think it would
be cheaper because there's not a driver that.
Speaker 2 (35:50):
They have to pay. I would think it would be.
Speaker 11 (35:52):
Point yeah, point, that's why. And that was interesting. Yeah,
the same price. Yeah, they're parking it. And honestly, I
love our Uber drivers. They probably listen to us right now.
Oh yeah, we don't want to take their jobs.
Speaker 4 (36:01):
I don't know. We stand behind the Uber drivers.
Speaker 2 (36:04):
I'm left.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
I would march for them.
Speaker 4 (36:07):
Yeah, you know, I'm just.
Speaker 8 (36:08):
Saying this was something I'm marching for.
Speaker 3 (36:10):
Yeah, let's go to gen she's in Natick. Jen, what's
your deal. Have you been in a driverless car yet?
Speaker 17 (36:17):
Uh?
Speaker 19 (36:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 20 (36:18):
I was actually similar situation. I was at a conference
in Phoenix, e the end of January and stay with family,
so I had car like rides back and forth, but
to the airport on my last was the middle of
a work day, and so I was like, I'm going
to try this. Let's see how it goes. My aunt
and uncle were like freaking out about it, and I
(36:39):
was kind of with Warren. I was like, it was
pretty seamless. My I will say this my complaint. What
two things. Number One, the algorithm tells you where it's
going to pick you up. And I was in the
middle of a building when I requested it, and I
went to one side and it was the other side.
Speaker 3 (36:57):
Yeah, well it's still And.
Speaker 20 (37:00):
I was like with two giant suitcases, like sweating my
middle aged white lady ass off setting to the car.
Because it only waits for like five minutes, it was
once I got there, it was lovely. The other thing
it doesn't do, when I will say this was kind
of a quirk, especially after hauling my butt and being sweaty,
is it doesn't let you control the temperature from the
back of the car. So like the radio is great,
(37:23):
you know, all this stuff. Being able to take the
channel was awesome. But like when I was sitting in
the car sweating and Phoenix heat and I had to unbuckle,
and then of course the car is like yelling at me.
Speaker 3 (37:33):
But isn't there a line you can call or something
and temperature they can fix that.
Speaker 4 (37:38):
Isn't there a line you can call or a button
you can.
Speaker 8 (37:41):
I don't know.
Speaker 20 (37:42):
I mean, I don't know. I didn't even think of
it in the time. I was sort of like fascinated,
like why you know, But it went through. I mean,
I went through construction, I went on and off the highway,
and I went to the airport. All of that stuff
was great, and at least for me, it was cheaper
than using Uber. It was like five dollars cheaper, Okay,
So it was like the difference between like I think
(38:03):
it was like seventeen dollars versus twelve dollars to get
an airport in Phoenix from where I was.
Speaker 4 (38:07):
So they're like air traffic controllers for cars.
Speaker 20 (38:10):
Yeah, I was a little worried about like when I
got to the airport, like what was going to happen
because I had all this stuff to get out of
the back of the car, but it had like a
like a button when you're done. It basically says like,
when you're done, press this button and your ride will
be over. So it kind of like took that pressure
off of like having to get everything out of the
car super quickly.
Speaker 3 (38:29):
That would suck if it took off with your luggage.
Speaker 5 (38:31):
Imagine if you press the button by accident, right, But
imagine if you press it by accident, right.
Speaker 20 (38:39):
And start driving off with my luggage. Yees.
Speaker 3 (38:40):
All right, Well, thank you for the call. We got
to move on because we have a lot of calls,
a lot of talkbacks. Let's go to carry in Townsend. Carrie,
what's the deal, Yes or no driverless cars?
Speaker 23 (38:51):
I say yes. I I like Uber I you know,
I use it all the time. But I'm definitely going
to try it out because I am so done with
getting into my cars and the heavy smell of cologne
on the drivers is just nauseating.
Speaker 3 (39:06):
Sometimes. I don't think it's colonne. I think it's like
scented trees. They're all like all over the car.
Speaker 23 (39:13):
Whatever it is, I'm definitely gonna try it out. It's
you know, it sounds like a good option, and you
know we'll give it a whirl.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
All right, Well, thank you and the good luck on
your travels, and let's go to Ryan, who's in Framingham.
Speaker 4 (39:25):
Hey Ryan, what's the deal? Ryan? Okay, we don't have Ryan.
You have a talkbacker? Yeah, Ryan bounced.
Speaker 7 (39:34):
Hey, this is Jeremy from Charlestown. You guys are talking
about Waymo and all I heard was all the people
complaining about all the bad things. But I gotta be honest.
We've spent a bunch of time in Arizona and we've
used Waymo a lot. And the best thing is a
parent of somebody with a young daughter, it's really great
because late at night she takes away Moo. She's not
getting a car with some sketchy driver in an uber
(39:54):
And honestly, we've taken Waymo a lot and it's we've
had no problem and it's it's awesome.
Speaker 2 (40:00):
Yeah that's an upside.
Speaker 3 (40:01):
Yeah, that's definitely upside. But we do want to stand
behind our uber drives. We have a lot of them
listen and we thank them for that. And it's something new.
