chickens do. And I worry about them every night when

just tragic is going to happen to those poor chickens
up there in the wild.

Well, we have nine chickens. They're in my garage in
a little kind of makeshift coop and we built the
coop out back, so we're waiting to predator proof it.
We have to do some digging this weekend. Hopefully it
doesn't rain too much and then put them out there
in the coop. But yeah, that we love the chickens.
My wife loves them, my daughter loves them.

hope nothing happens.

And you haven't seen a single wild animal sniffing around yet.

the Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester.

It's the New Law Award, so it's like the Women's
Leadership Award.

It was amazing.

It was They just did such a great job with
the event with a video that they produced.

Necklace Conservancy all of the park systems that we have,
these beautiful park systems that I enjoy because I love

But I'm so excited because I've never been able to go.
They push the time back this year, so it starts

had achilles surgery yesterday and recover he's going to take
a while.

It's typically six to twelve months, and Tatum will, I'm
sure have around the clock treatment, but there are certain
timelines that you have to abide. By so he'll be
non weight bearing and unable to walk on his foot
for a bit, and then you slowly progress being able
to walk with a little bit of pressure.

I got to tell you something about the achilles. I've
had like a tiny, tiny tear in my achilles for
about five months. It will not go away. I can't
even imagine the pain if it's ruptured. Yeah, I think
it kind of rolls up into your leg. They have

reattach it.

A self driving taxi service will be hitting the streets
of Boston. Waimo, which is part of Google's parent company,
Alphabet Inc. It's planning to test a limited number of
vehicles in Boston neighborhoods on the mass Pike.

Well, now, so this is the way it's going to work.
They're coming to Boston. So they're going to be Oliver Boston.
They're going to be a ninety three on the mass Pike.
But they'll have human autonomous specialists behind the wheel. So
what's happening is Weimo is getting to know our area
and once they know our area, then they'll have the
driverless cars available.

is just going in circles. So somebody obviously at the
control tower realized that there's a malfunction, and then they're

to fix it and they're trying to use my phone

Yeah? So I actually loved it. I experienced it for
the first time last week. I took a business trip
out to San Francisco for a massive like it conference,
and I wrote it like I don't know seven eight times.
I mean, surface is the service isn't perfect, but uh
it was. It was incredibly cool, I think being in it,
and I definitely think there's some hesitation because it's like
(32:44):
you say, there's nobody else in the car with you
except other passengers that you bring with you. But you know,
it was very conscientious. It has all these radar things
that looks like a Google you know, map car if
you will. And they're really nice vehicles there. Jaguar I
think it's like a Jaguar Pace. Oh wow, it's it's
a nice vehicle to write. And first of all, in it,
(33:06):
they're all new, clean and all the things that you
don't like about Uber or whatever. You know, those aren't there.
But of course there's also some people that hate them
because uh, you know, they're Uber drivers and they're taking
away from I don't know, I guess a job potentially
or yes, well Warren, does.

The car talk to you at all while you're in it?

So the way it works is it's all through the app.
And uh, there's uh they have they have audio microphones
in the car that are only used if you press
the button requesting help. They do have cameras on to
watch the inside of the car all the time, but
it tells you, just like Uber, you know your car
will meet you here, you know, three minutes and uh,

you know what, I never had a camp had that
happened a lot with Uber. Never had like get SFO
on the way in the guy like couldn't find me
somehow at SFO. I don't know how it seemed possible,
you know, no such problem with this guy. So well,
you know that this.

Is so creepy though the camera's watching you.

Oh yeah, it's yeah, but that's no different than anything
else though it's it's it's there to protect their property
and your safety. So if something happens, but I get it.
I mean, I just didn't think about it because there's
not like a screen in the thing that you know
where you're looking at yourself. It's just uh uh. You know,
they have strict rules no smoking, no eating, no alcohol,

stuff like that. But I think it's probably just a
mostly to make sure that it's a femless experience. And yeah,
the car pulls right up. You can set up auto
unlocked on your phone and then if you have that
set up, then as you walk up to the car,
it just unlocks and you can get in or well
then you can choose the music and all that good stuff.

It's just the car is always overly scented, like if
they could lose the scented tree. Were there scented trees

new vehicle practically.

Because the ubers are their own cars. You know, these
are probably cleaned by the people that work at Way
More Quick.

What's the price compared to Uber for rides in the way.

You know what it was absolutely competitive. I took you know,
several rides depends on you know, you know, there's surge
and other pricing, just like Uber. But it's like I
took one ride across town in San Francisco from uh,
you know, probably like three four miles. It was like
seven bucks.

Another one that was like thirty bucks. It depends on
the time of day and where you're going.

I was actually similar situation. I was at a conference
in Phoenix, e the end of January and stay with family,
so I had car like rides back and forth, but
to the airport on my last was the middle of
a work day, and so I was like, I'm going
to try this. Let's see how it goes. My aunt
and uncle were like freaking out about it, and I

was kind of with Warren. I was like, it was
pretty seamless. My I will say this my complaint. What
two things. Number One, the algorithm tells you where it's
going to pick you up. And I was in the
middle of a building when I requested it, and I
went to one side and it was the other side.

I was like with two giant suitcases, like sweating my
middle aged white lady ass off setting to the car.
Because it only waits for like five minutes, it was
once I got there, it was lovely. The other thing
it doesn't do, when I will say this was kind
of a quirk, especially after hauling my butt and being sweaty,
is it doesn't let you control the temperature from the
back of the car. So like the radio is great,

you know, all this stuff. Being able to take the
channel was awesome. But like when I was sitting in
the car sweating and Phoenix heat and I had to unbuckle,
and then of course the car is like yelling at me.

But isn't there a line you can call or something
and temperature they can fix that.

was great, and at least for me, it was cheaper
than using Uber. It was like five dollars cheaper, Okay,
So it was like the difference between like I think

it was like seventeen dollars versus twelve dollars to get
an airport in Phoenix from where I was.

So they're like air traffic controllers for cars.

Yeah, I was a little worried about like when I
got to the airport, like what was going to happen
because I had all this stuff to get out of
the back of the car, but it had like a
like a button when you're done. It basically says like,
when you're done, press this button and your ride will
be over. So it kind of like took that pressure
off of like having to get everything out of the
car super quickly.

That would suck if it took off with your luggage.

That's right.

Waimo, the self driving car company, is coming to Boston.

A self driving taxi service will be hitting the streets
of Boston. Waimo, which is part of Google's parent company,
Alphabet Inc. It's planning to test a limited number of
vehicles in Boston neighborhoods on the mass Pike.
Speaker 5 (27:08):
Well, now, so this is the way it's going to work.
They're coming to Boston. So they're going to be Oliver Boston.
They're going to be a ninety three on the mass Pike.
But they'll have human autonomous specialists behind the wheel. So
what's happening is Weimo is getting to know our area
and once they know our area, then they'll have the
driverless cars available.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
And it begs the question, of course, would you get
in one, right? That's the question for me.
Speaker 4 (27:33):

I've been in the Tesla self driving mode with friends
and it was really scary.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
I have to say it was very scary.

So I'm not getting in one of those. If I
have a different option, I'm going to use a different option.
I'll get in a regular taxi.

Well, there's been some issues for sure in other cities
San Francisco or elsewhere in California. We've covered those issues
many times on this show.

It was just going in the circles, like around the
fifth sixth times, that feeling was very uncomfortable where you're
strapped in, you can't open the door, and this vehicle
is just going in circles. So somebody obviously at the
control tower realized that there's a malfunction, and then they're
trying to fix it. But the kicker is they're trying
to fix it and they're trying to use my phone
(28:17):
to fix the problem.

Here's a question. Okay, these are all hypotheticals. Okay, here's
a question. Let's say you're in your own car that
you are driving yourself and the driverless car hits you
or rams you.
Speaker 4 (28:31):
What do you do insurance wise?

It's not like you're exchanging information with anybody.
Speaker 5 (28:36):
I think it's the parent company alphabet Anks responsibility and
they're going to pay you big time.

Yeah, they have some kind of controller like that guy
just mentioned, right, They have people that are working somewhere
that are kind of monitor monitoring the cars. But yeah,
there's there's been a lot of issues while they were
rolling these out in other cities.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
We're in a way, MO. It was going the wrong way.

We called custs over support and it stopped us right
here and wouldn't let us out of the car. And
we kept saying, hey, we're we're on a highway please,
cars kept honking at us, and.

It would not move.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
It would not let us out, No one per customer support,
but actually move the way, MO.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
So now we're walking on Mopack and our Waimo is
still there. This is insane WAYMO.

Now, at least you said you you said you were.

In one Tesla has a self driving them.
Speaker 3 (29:28):
Right, Okay, So were you nervous?

Were we were afraid?

I was, and because they didn't tell me at first
what was going on, and then they told me, and
I just I don't know again, like I maybe I'm
more of a control freak, like I think like we
should just be behind the wheel holding the wheel right.
My concern though, is with the weaimo is getting stuck
inside like that one guy did where they locked the
doors and you can't get out.
Speaker 6 (29:52):
Yeah, I mean, eventually this is what it's going to be.
Eventually it's headed that way. They're all all taxis are
going to be driverless. Why do we have runs that way?
Speaker 8 (30:02):
I don't want to get away. I'm not getting in way, moo.

But this is this is taking jobs away from people too.

And there's that and trucks like tractor trailers. I mean
that Tesla's rolling those out. There be no drivers.

We don't need that because what if it could crashed
with a bunch of you know, stuff on that could
be poisonous or for the environment or for people.

And you I'm not saying I'll never get in one away, moo.
I mean I won't be like one of the first,
but you know, eventually, I guess I have to go somewhere,
like five minutes down the street, I'll jump in one.

Well. You know what's interesting. I just discovered last week
that my car has driver Assist, which is for parking
or parking assist, and I won't use it. Like what
if I put parking assists and it bashes into the
car behind me, Like, what do I do have to
hang around?

It's interesting that you mentioned that because it's like the
more we use all of these automated systems, the less
we're using our own motor skills, like and that's a problem,
especially like for kids coming up, like they don't have
to do anything anymore.

driverless cars?
Speaker 18 (32:21):
Yeah? So I actually loved it. I experienced it for
the first time last week. I took a business trip
out to San Francisco for a massive like it conference,
and I wrote it like I don't know seven eight times.
I mean, surface is the service isn't perfect, but uh
it was. It was incredibly cool, I think being in it,
and I definitely think there's some hesitation because it's like
(32:44):
you say, there's nobody else in the car with you
except other passengers that you bring with you. But you know,
it was very conscientious. It has all these radar things
that looks like a Google you know, map car if
you will. And they're really nice vehicles there. Jaguar I
think it's like a Jaguar Pace. Oh wow, it's it's
a nice vehicle to write. And first of all, in it,
(33:06):
they're all new, clean and all the things that you
don't like about Uber or whatever. You know, those aren't there.
But of course there's also some people that hate them
because uh, you know, they're Uber drivers and they're taking
away from I don't know, I guess a job potentially
or yes, well Warren, does.
Speaker 2 (33:23):
The car talk to you at all while you're in it?
Speaker 17 (33:26):
No?
Speaker 18 (33:27):
So the way it works is it's all through the app.
And uh, there's uh they have they have audio microphones
in the car that are only used if you press
the button requesting help. They do have cameras on to
watch the inside of the car all the time, but
it tells you, just like Uber, you know your car
will meet you here, you know, three minutes and uh,
(33:48):
you know what, I never had a camp had that
happened a lot with Uber. Never had like get SFO
on the way in the guy like couldn't find me
somehow at SFO. I don't know how it seemed possible,
you know, no such problem with this guy. So well,
you know that this.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
Is so creepy though the camera's watching you.
Speaker 18 (34:04):
Oh yeah, it's yeah, but that's no different than anything
else though it's it's it's there to protect their property
and your safety. So if something happens, but I get it.
I mean, I just didn't think about it because there's
not like a screen in the thing that you know
where you're looking at yourself. It's just uh uh. You know,
they have strict rules no smoking, no eating, no alcohol,
(34:26):
stuff like that. But I think it's probably just a
mostly to make sure that it's a femless experience. And yeah,
the car pulls right up. You can set up auto
unlocked on your phone and then if you have that
set up, then as you walk up to the car,
it just unlocks and you can get in or well
then you can choose the music and all that good stuff.

Warn I love Uber drivers.
Speaker 3 (34:46):
It's just the car is always overly scented, like if
they could lose the scented tree. Were there scented trees
in the driverless car?
Speaker 18 (34:55):
No very natral smell. And they're all very clean. I
I mean it was barely It looked like a brand
new vehicle practically.
Speaker 6 (35:02):
Because the ubers are their own cars. You know, these
are probably cleaned by the people that work at Way
More Quick.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
Wan.
Speaker 4 (35:07):
What's the price compared to Uber for rides in the way.
Speaker 18 (35:11):
You know what it was absolutely competitive. I took you know,
several rides depends on you know, you know, there's surge
and other pricing, just like Uber. But it's like I
took one ride across town in San Francisco from uh,
you know, probably like three four miles. It was like
seven bucks.
Speaker 3 (35:27):
There you go.
Speaker 18 (35:28):
Another one that was like thirty bucks. It depends on
the time of day and where you're going.
Speaker 4 (35:31):

It was like really into it.

Yes, he made me want to fly to San Francisco
just to take the car.

When he said it's competitive, wouldn't you think it would
be cheaper because there's not a driver that.

They have to pay. I would think it would be.

Point yeah, point, that's why. And that was interesting. Yeah,
the same price. Yeah, they're parking it. And honestly, I
love our Uber drivers. They probably listen to us right now.
Oh yeah, we don't want to take their jobs.

I don't know. We stand behind the Uber drivers.

your deal. Have you been in a driverless car yet?

I was actually similar situation. I was at a conference
in Phoenix, e the end of January and stay with family,
so I had car like rides back and forth, but
to the airport on my last was the middle of
a work day, and so I was like, I'm going
to try this. Let's see how it goes. My aunt
and uncle were like freaking out about it, and I
(36:39):
was kind of with Warren. I was like, it was
pretty seamless. My I will say this my complaint. What
two things. Number One, the algorithm tells you where it's
going to pick you up. And I was in the
middle of a building when I requested it, and I
went to one side and it was the other side.
Speaker 3 (36:57):
Yeah, well it's still And.
Speaker 20 (37:00):
I was like with two giant suitcases, like sweating my
middle aged white lady ass off setting to the car.
Because it only waits for like five minutes, it was
once I got there, it was lovely. The other thing
it doesn't do, when I will say this was kind
of a quirk, especially after hauling my butt and being sweaty,
is it doesn't let you control the temperature from the
back of the car. So like the radio is great,
(37:23):
you know, all this stuff. Being able to take the
channel was awesome. But like when I was sitting in
the car sweating and Phoenix heat and I had to unbuckle,
and then of course the car is like yelling at me.
Speaker 3 (37:33):
But isn't there a line you can call or something
and temperature they can fix that.
Speaker 4 (37:38):
Isn't there a line you can call or a button
you can.
Speaker 8 (37:41):
I don't know.
Speaker 20 (37:42):
I mean, I don't know. I didn't even think of
it in the time. I was sort of like fascinated,
like why you know, But it went through. I mean,
I went through construction, I went on and off the highway,
and I went to the airport. All of that stuff
was great, and at least for me, it was cheaper
than using Uber. It was like five dollars cheaper, Okay,
So it was like the difference between like I think
(38:03):
it was like seventeen dollars versus twelve dollars to get
an airport in Phoenix from where I was.
Speaker 4 (38:07):
So they're like air traffic controllers for cars.
Speaker 20 (38:10):
Yeah, I was a little worried about like when I
got to the airport, like what was going to happen
because I had all this stuff to get out of
the back of the car, but it had like a
like a button when you're done. It basically says like,
when you're done, press this button and your ride will
be over. So it kind of like took that pressure
off of like having to get everything out of the
car super quickly.
Speaker 3 (38:29):
That would suck if it took off with your luggage.
Speaker 5 (38:31):
Imagine if you press the button by accident, right, But
imagine if you press it by accident, right.
Speaker 20 (38:39):
And start driving off with my luggage. Yees.
Speaker 3 (38:40):

I say yes. I I like Uber I you know,
I use it all the time. But I'm definitely going
to try it out because I am so done with
getting into my cars and the heavy smell of cologne
on the drivers is just nauseating.

Sometimes. I don't think it's colonne. I think it's like
scented trees. They're all like all over the car.

Whatever it is, I'm definitely gonna try it out. It's
you know, it sounds like a good option, and you

about Waymo and all I heard was all the people
complaining about all the bad things. But I gotta be honest.
We've spent a bunch of time in Arizona and we've
used Waymo a lot. And the best thing is a
parent of somebody with a young daughter, it's really great
because late at night she takes away Moo. She's not
getting a car with some sketchy driver in an uber
(39:54):
And honestly, we've taken Waymo a lot and it's we've
had no problem and it's it's awesome.

Yeah that's an upside.
Speaker 3 (40:01):
Yeah, that's definitely upside. But we do want to stand
behind our uber drives. We have a lot of them
listen and we thank them for that. And it's something new.
Are we late to the Weimo party? I'm getting that
impression between Arizona and San Francisco. A lot of West
Coast people are traveling in the West Coast taking WEYMO,
and we're just getting it. I feel like we're a
little late to the party.

Well, our streets are really weird.

I mean construction. There's a lot of construction. Some streets
don't make any sense. So I think the Waymo's going
to it's going to take it a long time to
get to know the area.
