Speaker 1 (00:00):
Okay, Hi everybody, Welcome to a Monday morning. Justin Winnie
and welcome to the after show.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
You.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
I hope your weekend was fantastic. I hope that. Uh yeah,
I don't know why you're singing. I thought we were past.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
That, like a whisper thing. Yeah, it was very soft.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
But big news for Winnie and I, both of us
who saw this coming. Both got brand new pets. A
lot of people know. I got a kitten. His name
is Jack's. We love him, by the way, had a
great weekend with him. Now, before we get to your
dog quota, I only had two cats in my life.
They weren't even mine. They were my wife's, right, so
they lived with us. But they were the Joker and

(00:41):
they were older. Joker was okay, he was a little
bit more friendly. Queen he hated everybody. She loved my wife.
But they weren't friendly at all. They were black cats
and whatever. So I kind of was like on cats.
But Jack's, he's an orange cat, is so friendly. It's
my boy. He's a kitten. He all he wants is
human affection. He comes, he sits right on me, I

(01:03):
pet him, he falls asleep when I pat his head.
He plays with the kids nicely. Gemma is you know,
she's only two, so she like swats him and stuff,
and he'll play with her, but he doesn't pull his
claws out, so it's really nice. So we had a
great time with him. And then I come in this
morning and I can't believe he didn't tell me this,
And we rescued a dog, Yes, named Coda.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
I did on Saturday Shepherd. Yes, he is beautiful.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Where'd you get the dog?

Speaker 3 (01:28):
The MSPCA and Salem.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Okay, so walk me through this. Okay, what prompted you
to go to the shelter? Is that a shelter? It's
a shelter and get a dog.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
So I've been thinking about it for a while, and
you know, I grew up with dogs, but I haven't
had one, you know, on my own.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
And I was like, you know, I think I'm.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Ready, like I and everyone thinks because I'm like such
a bitch like I do like animals. I'm it's not
the person that's like every dog I want to bring home,
like I just you know, that's just not my vibe.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
It's just like but I was like, you know, I
think I want a dog.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
So and there's lots of dogs in my building and
and all that.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
So I was like, you know what, I think we
get a dog.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
So originally I was looking and I went through Galas
Beth's palas, which was where he got Titus Billy, and
they were having an event in Salem on Saturday from.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Twelve to two Salem Mass Yes, at like.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
The treetop or something, so you can meet and get
the dogs. Because they have more dogs that are like
staying in foster homes. They don't really have I don't think,
like a shelter vibe, so you couldn't really go see
them until like they approved you and all this whatever.
Bess PCAs the shelter. You just walk in and you
can meet dogs. So I said to my I said
to my mom, I'm like, oh, you want to go
with me? And she's like, yeah, let's go.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Yeah, I'll go. If you want to do anything Saturday morning.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
I'm like, okay, cool, soak at my parents' house on
Saturday morning. And my dad goes, oh, I'll come too,
So I was like all right. So it was my mom,
my dad, and my sister and my little sister and myself.
Now my parents love dogs, but like they're just not
ready to get another dogs, like, you know, they're retired
and like my mom helps with the kids, and I
just feel like they just don't want the full commitment
of a dog.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Could they get a dog that's older though, and you.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Know, yeah, But I think for my mom it's more
of like she doesn't want to wait, Oh, I want
to go for the day with my husband.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Who's gonna let the dog out, Who's gonna go feed
the dog? You know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Like, I just think this obviously is responsibility with having
a dog like that. So my mom was like, I
just think they want a dog, but they're not ready
to have a dog again. And so I think it's
like low key all of our dogs, it's my dog.
But like, don't get it twisted, Like my sisters are facetiming,
like let me see coda, And I'm like, okay, you
guys never face timing whatever.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
Well, you have a babysitter or anytime a dog sitter, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Exactly, he can go to my mom's or my sisters
can say at my house. Anyways, So we go to
the Salem location and they opened eleven thirty.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
We get there right at eleven thirty, and so we
see two dogs.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
First one was called a fiest dog, which basically it's
like a little like street mud.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
That's like from like the South.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
Now, hold on, were you looking for a bigger dog
or he did not care?

Speaker 2 (03:44):
So I definitely didn't want like a tiny dog I've
always had.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
I had my first dog ever was a shepherd pumpkin.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
And then we have a big, big dog out, Yes, exactly,
yeah I do.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
So I didn't want a little dog.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
But I was down from medium like thirty forty, you
know whatever. So we saw the first dog and it
was like a mutt and it looks like a little lab,
and he was connecting way worth more with my mom
than me, Like I really was like, eh, you know.
Then we got the second one that came in was
like a black curd mouth. It's one of those like
a black mouth you would. It's like a little another
melt mutt. And it was good, like a little little

(04:18):
mid size, And again I just wasn't connecting.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
I'm like, maybe I don't want a dog. I'm like, well,
maybe why am I here?

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Maybe I don't want a dog Because my mom's like,
you don't seem interested. I'm like they're just not I
just it's not like these two dogs were just not
doing it for me. So my dad looked at the
list because they have like an internal list besides the
one online, and there was Coda, and Coda wasn't on
the website when I looked, like the day before because
I need like twenty dogs at this location, and my
dad goes.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
Can we see the shepherd?

Speaker 2 (04:43):
And I thought it was gonna be more for my
parents because my dad again really wanted a shepherd, goes,
I'm not breaking home a shepherd, blah blah blah blah.
And I'm like, well, just humor him, like like, just
let them have and let them see the dog. So
they're like, yeah, we can bring Coda in. So they said, oh,
she's a little shy, so why don't you guys all
just sit down in his chairs and let him come
to you. So he walks and he comes right over

(05:04):
to me and doesn't leave. I'm like, this is my dog,
Like instantly new that was my it was my dog.
I knew in thirty seconds it was my dog. And
I was like, I want this dog, and so I
got it and the same day adoption at MSPCA.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
So we went home with him with under two hours.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
And he's been at my house since Saturday.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
And when he got to your house, he walked right in,
no problem, right.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
So first we stopped at my parents' house because we
were all, you know, how to get my car or whatever.
And we had ordered lunch because we hadn't eaten all day.
So he came into my parents' house, we ate lunch.
He didn't jump up, didn't look for food, just sat
down my niece's ate she was over, was good with her.
And then I brought him to my house and me
and my dad set up his crate and all that.
I put him in the crate so I could go

(05:43):
back and get my car and left with my dad.
He whimpered him for like maybe twenty seconds. So I
was like at the door waiting. I'm like, I, it
feels so bad, come back.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
He's cool.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Then I went out for dinner that night, and I
think now he knew that I was going to come back.
Didn't make a peep when I put in the can
in the house. Nope, completely house trained.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
That's pretty coo.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
No. I mean, like when he's an angel baby, like
he is a chills dog and He is mild temperament.
He has a little bit of a like one of
his legs as a little arthritis in it. So he's not
really big on too much play.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
I mean he doesn't love.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Like he'll be cool like one dog or two dogs,
but wouldn't be good in like a uh, what's that
like puppy daycare?

Speaker 3 (06:20):
Yeah, like he doesn't want to do any of that.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
So where is he now?

Speaker 3 (06:23):
He's at my mouse.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
Oh he's just chilling. Yeah, he's just in his great
do you know any of his backstory?

Speaker 2 (06:27):
So he was with a family for three years. He
just turned three last week. His birthday's on the sixteenth,
so he just turned three. And it seems from what
they said, they just were having they were moving homes
and he couldn't go where they were going. And he
knows paw, he knows to sit, so he knows.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Community's a trained dog.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
He's a trained dog. He responds well to his name.
I don't think there's any type of abuse. He's a
beautiful dog. He's like a yellow.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
Reddish Yeah, I saw the picture of him. Yeah, beautiful dog.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Yeah, fifty pounds and he's the temperament's great, So I
don't know really much much about where he came from,
but it seems like he was in a loving home.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
And that's it.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
That's just said he came from a home. They probably
got him when he was a puppy. And there you go.
So wait, so you've been gone since whenever you leave
for thirty am. So are you nervous that he's gonna poop? Head?

Speaker 2 (07:14):
That he's good for They said he would normally stay
six to seven hours in the crate, No problem, Okay,
So I am gonna I don't think I'm gonna stay
for me and I take the meeting on the phone
just so I can go check on him.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Because he didn't poop before.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
And I was a little nervous by that because he
seems to be one of those dogs that he takes
this is like gross, But I know some dogs they
can eat and poop like within five minutes. He takes
like an hour or two after he eats to go
to the bathroom.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
So he has slower digestion.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
So so I didn't.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
I don't have time in the morning necessarily to always
like wait for him to go to the bathroom. Of course,
I took him out the peano all that today so
I'm curious to see how we want to get home,
and then like tomorrow I have nurse Siona and all that.
So my sister's gonna go like later on in the
morning and take him for me.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
So you said it yourself, it's our dog. It's oh,
they can help.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
It's our dog. Like it's my dog. It's like my dog,
but it's the a Cory.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Is your mom retired?

Speaker 3 (08:02):
Yes she is, so there you go.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
My brother goes, hey, no, like, don't impede on my babysitting. Oh,
I'm like, all right, whatever, But no, it's it's it's
little I'm lucky because I have them and they want
to be involved.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
But also he's a great dog.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
And he can be left alone and he doesn't need
to have, you know, someone watching him.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
Twenty four to seven.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
That's great.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
He's adjusting period. It's been amazing. He was only there
for four days at the shelter, so I think I'm
kind of lucking out, but he's not.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
Really.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
He didn't probably look really, you know, yeah, feel abandoned.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
Maybe, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
It seems like he's adjusting to your house pretty good.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
He really is.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
So that's really good. Yeah, that's look at us, right,
I know, pretty good, pretty good.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
But you have kids, yeah, the kids?

Speaker 1 (08:44):
Yeah, but yeah, other than that, it was a good
weekend Turkey Toss coming up on Wednesday, Thanksgiving. Everything's happening
very fast. Then we come back for a couple of
weeks jingle Ball, then vacation or off for two weeks
like usual on the holiday. So it's gonna happen really fast.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
Winnie, Oh my god, I've just thought about this.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
We have the well two days off right now, and
then we have the four days off and then we
have two weeks, right, ye, yeah, two weeks.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
Then it's two right, fifteenth, yeah, two two weeks. We
have two weeks jingle Ball, come back for a week.
Yeah yeah, yeah, that's how it's gonna go. Our last
day on the air will be the twentieth of December.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
And actually that's a good thing too, that you have
a new cat and I have a new dog.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
We can hang out with our animals.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Yeah, I love it. Ye, I mean, he's he's really good.
And I posted the video on the Answergram with the
ice so cute on an iPad.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
How BIG's he gonna get?

Speaker 1 (09:38):
I don't know, no idea I don't really know much
about him. I don't really know.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
Yeah, yeah, we got to jump in this meeting for
Turkey Toss. But for those that we're going to tune
in and we're hoping that we were going to comment
on the Maddie Boston Globe story, there's really not much
to say. I got a bunch of d ms about it.
There really wasn't anything new new information. And there was
about his care which is great, but well there wasn't
hold on. There wasn't I know. But this is the

(10:03):
thing that's like people are like, oh my god, you
got to talk about this. Well, there's nothing really to
talk about. It was a lot about his career in
the Hall of Fame and you know, looking back on
his career, which is awesome, But the Billy stuff, there
was nothing new. Like everyone knew they had a falling out, Billy,
Lisa and Matt, right, they had a falling out, and
you know, he retired and now he's in Florida and

(10:24):
they're not friends and that's between them. I don't I
can't say. You know, it's the people that say, oh
my god, Billy, that monster, like you don't know what
the fight was about you have no idea what happened,
and I just for me, I just want to say,
why not, Why shouldn't the focus needs to be on
Matt's career, Like he had a great career, like I mean,

(10:45):
amazing forty one years and he got all the accolades.
I mean, listen, listen, he's the king. That should be
the focus. And here's the thing. When he retired, okay,
and it ended he was already gonna retire anyway at
the end of the year. Like it's the comments that
get me going are the ones that say, you stole
the show, you backstabbers. That seems to be the backstabbers.

(11:08):
It's like, bro, Matt took a whole year off, mondays off,
so Billy, Lisa, you and I could do the show
to prepare for when he retired. It was going to
be a handoff. Unfortunately, there was a giant falling out
between them, nothing to do with winning or I and
it happened months sooner.

Speaker 3 (11:25):
And to be fair, he moved to Florida years before.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
Well, he talked about that. I thought that was interesting
that he did talk about that. And the thing about
you know, he thinks that moving to Florida. He was disconnected. Yeah,
no showing there. So you mean that could have played
a part as well. But it's not our business to
say this is exactly what happened. Like, it's not our business.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
Can I can't make your correction though. Sure this bothered
me because you know, I like things to be accurate.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
I just want to want to know you're a big journalism.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
Okay, I try everybody it now.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
And if you weren't paying attention for three four years
ago when the Demi Levado scandal happened, he never interviewed
Demi Levado. I don't think he he doesn't even remember that.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
He didn't interviewer. He makes things up that never happened.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
It was we were just talking about when Denny was
going through a pronoun thing.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
I mean, I think she's well.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
Billy had the Storians entertainment that she was non binary,
and he made some jokes and then the boss told
him to stop. Yeah, and he got upset and he
quit on air. Yes, and then he quit on air.
And then he came back the next day and there
was an incident on the air with Backs where and
he braided backs Well, he told her he found out
that she didn't podcast the day before the show where
he quit, and he got very angry, and yes, he
yelled at her and berated her, and it was a

(12:29):
big thing. And then backs ended up moving to Philly.
It was a whole thing, right, And here's the thing. Yes,
all that stuff did happen, but please let's focus on
the good of what happened forty one years. He was honest,
he was going to retire. Dream it's a dream.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
He become a millionaire to just talk shit, it's a dream,
it's all. It's just an ice dream. Our dream is
ten times what we make, right.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
I would love that. I would love that that too.
You know, we're happy be And here here's another thing
that I just want to add to this, Okay, before
we put it to bed. We will never be able
to create the Matt recreate the Maddie in the Morning show.
We don't write Matt No, and I'm just Matt' show
is Matt show. Yeah, he did it his way for
all those years and people fell in love it a

(13:17):
generational listening. This show is never going to be that show.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
It's a different show, right, And I hope think it's
not lost on any of us. That part of our
career was with Matt.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
That well, people dm me and said to me that
the my newspiece, Maria Stefanos, justin how could you not
mention Matt? Okay, First of all, I did an hour
long interview with Maria, and I did talk about Matt,
but she didn't edit it because it wasn't it was
edited down. There were a lot of things I talked

(13:48):
about you and the news piece. I told the whole story.
I swear to God, I swear to God. No, I
just in general, talking like I did when I talked
to Maria. I said, when Maddie retired, Lisa, Winnie and myself,
like it was a whole conversation he headed down to
three minutes. That's just how it works. But you know,
it's like, come on, dude, like what are we doing? Like,
of course, I'm grateful for Matt. I never I love

(14:10):
all these I love all of them. They've all been
good to me, you know, But this thing about it
just brings up all the hatred and the like Billy
cast listen here, Winnie. Yes, we know Billy and Lisa
more than anybody else. Yes, but if you've been listening
to this show, for many years. You should pretty much
figure out that Billy Costa and Lisa Dunovan are two

(14:32):
of the most harmless people that would never hurt anybody
steal the show really, right, come on, I know I.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
Get it, but I always say, if you take their
personalities right that you felt on air right, and you
remove them from microphones, you'll probably get sweeter versions of
Billy and Lisa right, and a harsher version of Matt
because you saw it, it would play it in front
of your eyes. Like people are like, don't want to

(15:00):
just look at the facts. You heard things happen on air,
and can you imagine how things were off air with
someone that spoke like that on air?

Speaker 1 (15:09):
Well, he talked about that in the piece too. He
talked about like he got very nasty at the end.
Everybody knows that, and that's why it's so shocking to
me that people, even though they don't know what happened, yeah,
that they're like, you know, they know, but they still
are like, you know, oh my god, I never listened
to that show again after you left. All the show
is just awful. And the best is the people that
say that the show is awful and they haven't listened.

(15:30):
Then they go on to describe the entire show. Yeah,
it's like, okay, it's okay. If you don't want to listen,
it's fine, it's fine. But you know, I just all
I'm saying is like, please focus on the positive of
Maddie's career and everything. It is sad. I agree, it
is sad that a friendship friendships that long ended.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
But also he's only seventy five. Soon, Like there's like
this is retirement.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
You're retired.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
This is right, Like we'll turn about him coming back right.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
Like I'm saying like, okay, like, no, you're retired, you
made your money, you're in Florida, you have the ultimate
retired goal.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
And I don't know the thing.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
I don't understand what he thought it would look like
for him to come on the show, Like what do
you want to do? Talk about your golf game? Some
more like we didn't care when you when you were
on the show.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
That's not fair because people did. Can't people do? You
may not, but I'm saying people do.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
But since it's been two three years, remove do you
think Sally now cares about your golf games?

Speaker 1 (16:22):
I don't, Yeah, I don't.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
I just don't know what he would want to talk about,
Like he doesn't care about pop culture.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
He doesn't like you know what I mean, Like it's
not like he's this hit and happening guy.

Speaker 1 (16:31):
Oh, he wouldn't fit into this show.

Speaker 3 (16:32):
He would have into the show. He wouldn't for sure.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
I mean, if you do a podcast, people request him
to do podcasts all the time. He could do that.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
And if things had lets on a better note, maybe
if he did a Wilber show, they would maybe say, oh,
come talk about it.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
But it didn't. It didn't. It didn't work that way.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
Like, well, it's beating a dead horse. It's like over
and over again. I mean, yes, it's it sucks. But
you know, whatever happens between them men, you know what.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
And then one year three, Yeah, but I just.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
There was no backstabbing. There was no nothing. It's it's
as simple as like things got taken too far and
in Billian Lisa and the friendship ended and they have
chosen not to And you.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
Know what's funny, it's not even like the two of
them were asking for him to retire all that. They
were actually just asking for him to be kinder. And
then he took offense to that.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
Yeah, yeah, you know what I mean. It's unfortunate, but yeah,
if you're listening to this, please there's just just let's
let's focus on the good, the positive of everything that
meant that he did. He's a legend in Boston, Hall
of Fame, all that good stuff. Yes, it's sad that
they're not friends anymore, but it stop it there, Like,
there's no need to yell and scream. We're a new show.
We're trying to find our way or I think we're

(17:40):
doing fine, and you know, we show up every day
and try to put on a show. Is it easy?

Speaker 2 (17:46):
Now?

Speaker 1 (17:47):
It is not easy. It is hard to do, but
this is our dream. And when we show up every
day to do that, do we fall short? Yes, but

Speaker 1 (18:04):

Speaker 2 (18:05):

Speaker 1 (18:09):

Speaker 3 (18:11):
That well, no, my good friend back says, I have
to screen record.

Speaker 1 (18:15):
It for him. There you go. Uh for everyone else.
We'll be back tomorrow with another after show. So I
have a great day.
