Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, friends, It's been a long long time. Some would
say an eternity, but we are back. I am back
on the after Show. Hi, everybody, Happy New Year. I
hope your holiday was fantastic. God, the last after Show
was I don't even know, more than two weeks ago,
maybe even three weeks ago. I don't know. December is
(00:20):
just so crazy here at the radio station. But it's
all over, man. We got through it all. Had a
beautiful two week vacation. I missed you guys so much.
There were a couple of times during the vaca where
I thought to myself, I should just get equipment at
home and I could record an after show from my house.
It's actually something I might do in twenty twenty six,
(00:40):
you know, like I could talk to my wife. My wife,
if I'm at home, she would join the after show.
I think maybe some of my crazy friends too. I
don't know. We'll see what happens, but it's good to
be back. I hope everybody had some time off enjoyed
the holidays. I know I did. I love Christmas, I
love New Year's, I love love the holidays. I know
people get stressed up about it, but I don't know
(01:02):
it's you know, my past I spent a lot of
holidays not around my family, so you know, I really
cherish everyone that I can, even when my kids drive
me crazy, which trust me, keeping my son busy for
two weeks was not an easy feat. We'll go over
some of that on this podcast as we catch up.
I did take some notes. This might be the first
time ever because it's been so long and so much
(01:24):
has happened in my life. And you know, if you care,
if you listen to this podcast, if you care about
the Billy and Lisa Show, then you know I'm going
to share about some of these things that I did
while I was off. And I want to start with
this one because this was a very special moment. I
did post a video. It did get a lot of views,
which I'm happy about. It's the my wife's gift before
(01:45):
Christmas with her best friend Katie. I don't know how
we pulled this thing off, but it was. God. It
was like one of the most impactful moments one of
in our marriage because my wife is not easily surprised
at all, So the fact that we were able to
do this, to plan this for a month, I don't
think I talked about this. I may have alluded to
(02:07):
it on the After Show, but basically, her best friend
Katie moved to North Carolina earlier this year. She's been
down there and they you know, they're best friends. They text,
they talk, they have each other's locations on their phones.
So that was an issue too, because you know, Jen
will check her location for fun all the time, and
if she was on her way up here driving then
(02:28):
the surprise would be ruined. So she ended up turning
the location off. So we started this around Thanksgiving. Katie
had the idea, Hey, I'm thinking about driving up at
sixteen hours and seeing Jen. And then I said, why
don't we surprise her and I will tell her we're
booking a hotel for her and I before Christmas, kind
of like a pre holiday gift. But then you'll come
(02:51):
in surprise and it'll be YouTube that go out to
dinner and hotel and all that stuff. Because if you're
a mom, you can identify with this. All my wife
really wants is like time to herself, right, Like the
children are all over her more so than me. They
want mom NonStop. You know, if we're in the house
and my son is sitting right next to me, he'll
(03:11):
yell out to my wife in the other room to
get him something. You know, same thing with my daughter.
So she just wants time away from the kids, if
you know what I mean. So the plan was set.
She was gonna drive up on the Thursday before Christmas.
So the week before Christmas, on that Thursday, she was
gonna drive up, and then she was gonna spend a
(03:31):
day or two with her family in hiding with her
location off, and then Saturday morning we were gonna get
up and around noon I went to the gym, came home,
and then we started packing. So my wife got her
nails done, she got waxed, she got she started packing
her bag. I'm fake packing my bag and she was
(03:51):
gonna come around twelve. So it was tough because my
wife's itching to get out of there. So she's like,
why don't we leave right now? Like my momie is
gonna watch the kids. Why don't we just leave? And
I'm like, no, she, you know, she wants to wait
until one o'clock. For whatever reason. I had to go
downstairs tell Nannie one o'clock, tell her we can't leave
till one o'clock. So we're in there, bags are packed.
(04:13):
My bags in the living room. Her bag's in the
living room. Katie's like five minutes away. I'm like okay.
So then I had to get my wife into the
front the back of the house because if the kids
or her were in the front, then they would see
Katie pull up. Okay, So we had to get to
the back of the house while Katie pulls into the
driveway and alongside the house, so if you're walking towards
(04:35):
the front living room, you would not see her car.
And then also we have ring cameras, so I had
to have Katie duck down under the camera because I
knew and she did. My wife would look at the
ring camera on the fridge, so she's five a couple
of minutes away. I say to my wife, Hey, I
want to show you in the family this jelly roll
(04:55):
clip from an interview podcast he did on Joe Rogan
and it's that we played it on the show. It's
him talking about or being surprised about being in the
grand opry. It's like a real emotional moment. So I
pull it up and Jen goes, I saw this. I go, right,
but Abel hasn't, and I want him to see this,
and she's like okay. So we're all sitting there watching it,
(05:16):
and you know, I have my phone kind of down
behind my side with the ring camera. I see Katie pullin,
I see her creep up the stairs, and then once
she's in place in front of the door, I'm like, okay,
I pause it. I go shoot Jen, there's a Christmas
gift I got for you that I want you to
open before we go. It came early. I'd like you
to open it. And she looks at me, like, what
(05:37):
are you talking about. I'm like, it's on the front porch.
Do you want to get it. I think it's be
a good surprise, something you can open and maybe use
at the hotel tonight. So she's like, what the fuck
are you talking about? So she starts walking towards the
front of the house, and as predicted, she stopped at
the fridge and clicked the camera and she couldn't see anything.
There was no package and there was no person or
(05:59):
anything because Katie was duck down. And then you could
see this video by the way on the Instagram, and
then she I was recording on my metaglasses and then
she went down and then there was Katie and she
was completely surprised, and you know, I said, we're not going.
I said, this good news and bad news. The bad
news is we're not going to the hotel tonight. The
(06:20):
good news is you and Katie are And it was
very emotional. She had the best time. I got her
dinner reservations at her favorite restaurant, which is Black and
Blue in Burlington, right across from the Burlington Mall. So
she went. Her friend Kerrie joined as well. The three
of them are all kind of best friends. They went
to dinner, they went to the casino, did a little
(06:40):
bit of gambling, and then they went back to the
hotel and she was just texting me NonStop, like I
cannot believe you did this, Like this is one of
the most amazing things. And I don't know, man, I'm
not the best, best husband. You know, I think I'm
a good husband, but you know, I make mistakes. I
fall short all the time. But you know, moments like
this make me proud, you know, to be a loving
husband and somebody that you know cares about my wife
(07:02):
and she deserves it all in more, I'll just say that.
But so that was really cool. That was a really
really cool moment. You can see the video again on
my Instagram. So Christmas went really great. The kids got
their stuff. We didn't get them as much many things
because the surprise was a Ruba. We have We're going
to a Ruba in March hopefully, I mean good thing.
(07:23):
We're not going this week. That's a disaster. People can't
even fly out. But we are going in March. And
so that was their big gift. But you know some
of the other gifts. I got my wife something she
wanted a hair dryer. I got her a Starlight calendar,
which is kind of a digital calendar. And then I
got her a little bit sappy hair. But I got
(07:46):
her this book that says it's it's called thirty Reasons
Why I Love You, and then each page there's a
title and then the page is blank, like with notepads,
so it'll say I love you the most when you
and then you fill in the answer. So I did that.
I filled up the whole thing and gave that to her.
(08:07):
That was good. She cried. And then I got her
also this this drinking kind of adult game called Sip
or Sin, even though we don't drink, but I thought
it would be cool for like a night out if
we got a hotel somewhere. It's kind of like dirty
things that you play as a couple, you know. I
think one of them was, you know, if you pull
this card, you have to twirk on my face, just
(08:27):
like silly things, but kind of sexual too. So I
just she had both gifts. She was like crying from
the book and then she had this Sipperson drinking game
thing and She's like, what the fuck is this? And
I'm like, I don't know, I'm all over the place.
So that was cool. She got me slippers, which I
really really really loved, and like some other small things
(08:49):
that I liked. But the family came over. It was
a great Christmas Eve, great low key Christmas. Also during
the break, you know, I did a lot of working out.
Shout out to drive and stay in New Hampshire. That's
my spot. I've kind of moved away from you know,
traditional weightlifting and more into longevity cardio fitness, and they
have classes there which I really really like, a lot
(09:11):
of circuit training, a lot of high rocks training, so
that was really good. I was able to get up
every morning go there high intensity and you know high
rocks that kind of training is like you know, sled poles,
sled pushes, burpies, broad jumps, biking. You know, it's some
weightlifting too. But I think I found a new love
there because I mentioned on the show today my shoulders
(09:32):
messed up. So you know, I'm trying to getting away
from the you know, back in biceps day. Today's just stay.
You know, I really am trying to improve my cardio
fitness and you know, look, and I'm not trying to
be like this jacked guy. I just want to be
in shape, you know, And I feel like I'm chasing
this body building goal when I have no you know,
(09:52):
plan to step on stage or do anything like that.
I just want to be fit. I want to be
healthy and I want to be here for a long time.
So you know, I do a lot of things to
support that. You know. I do ice bass every day,
I do saunas every single night. I monitor my sleep,
you know, things like that. I'm always trying to improve.
I guess performance, you know, if you will. So a
(10:12):
couple of other things I went did did during the vacation.
I saw the Mentalist at the Chevalier Theater. That was
a friggin moment. Okay, shout out to the Chevalier. I
was able to go with my friend Adam. We met
the mentalist Oz Perlman. Before the show. We had a
small group with us. They put us in these groups
of like four to six people, so we came in.
(10:34):
I talked to O's for a while about Billy's Sun,
Chris Costa, and we took pictures. And then there was
a little girl there ten years old who was a
big fan. So he was able to do his mentalist
thing to her, which was really cool. I did post
a video of it, it was on my stories, but
basically it was a quick thing. He just told it
to think of a number between one and one hundred,
and he was able to guess it. He wrote it
(10:55):
down on a piece of paper. But during the show, okay,
he was doing a amazing things. Okay, And I guess
the argument would be that when he has crowd participation
in these things, is he paying these people? Are they
paid actors? Are they working for him? But let me
know what you think about this. He had five people
(11:17):
stand up from the audience and he asked them to
think about a celebrity, dead or alive, who you would
want to have dinner with. So the first three he
was able to guess right off the bat. He kind
of asked a couple of questions, now, mind you, Like
one of the women was, you know, Susan from Somerville.
You know, I'm like, there's no way she's working with
the mentalists. But he was able to get the first three.
(11:40):
Then there were two people left and he goes, I'm
gonna up the ante here. I already did the you know,
the first three, I guessed it, but I want to
really blow your minds. So he gave whiteboards, these little
whiteboards to the last two people with a marker, and
he told them to write down the celebrity on the board,
but like keep it close to them so no, but
he could see it. So they both did it. And
(12:02):
then he said, I'm gonna have somebody in the audience
come up and guess who the celebrities are. I'm not
gonna do it, They're gonna do it. So he pulls
out a frisbee from his little like, you know, drawer
of goodies, and it's a flimsy Amazon frisbee that literally
could go anywhere in the crowd. He threw it and
it went right in front of me, but like it
(12:24):
flew all around the chevalier and almost ended on one guy.
Then it like bounced off him and landed on this
one kid that was like kind of right in front
of me to the right. So this kid gets up,
walks on stage and he says to him, Okay, you're
gonna guess the celebrities. You're gonna close your eyes and
you're gonna cover your ears. He said, I'm gonna touch
(12:45):
you on your back and it's gonna come in your mind.
You're gonna say the name. And I'm like, there's no
frigging way, And sure enough, the first woman he does it.
He touches the guy's back, you know, he has his
eyes covered, his ears plugged, touches his back, he goes
say the name, and he says Rachel Maddow. So then
the woman he says, turn your sign around. Sure enough,
(13:07):
Rachel Maddow. And he did the same thing for the
next For the last guy, which was Julius Caesar, celebrity
he would want to have dinner with. Okay, how the
hell does he do that? Now he did a bunch
of other things. I'm not even gonna go over at all.
But when the show was done, the guy was right
in front of me. So my friend Adam and I
literally grabbed the dude and I'm like, hey, come on,
(13:27):
can I ask you a question? He goes, yeah, you
are you working with this guy? I know you probably
can't tell him whatever, and he goes, dude, no, he goes,
he had to have He goes, I don't know how
to explain it, but I heard a voice in my head.
It sounded like a computer voice. So I don't know
if he had a device or something, but when he
touched me, there was a voice that came into my
(13:48):
head that said the name and I just said, you
know what they said to me essentially, So I don't
know what kind of tricks he has. But my friend
thinks that he was able to put the thought into
his head, but he clearly said that he heard a
computer voice. But either way, however he does it, it's
really really cool. So that was a warm up show
for O's. I was talking to him about a backstage.
(14:08):
It was like a warm up test show and it
went really well. I mean, all the Wilbert people were
Bill Blumenrch who owns the Wilburt Andrew shout out to
him too. He was there. It was a big hit.
So I would expect a nationwide tour and if he does,
I would go. I would go again. Also on the vacation,
I went to Kill Tony, which is a comedy show
(14:28):
at the Box Center, which was good. It was Kill
Tony's kind of this live show where Tony Hingecliffe and
all his friends are up on stage and they bring
people up from the audience. They have a one minute
to do their best comedy bit and then they either
roast them or they praise them. And there's been a
bunch of comedians that have kind of gotten famous from
(14:49):
being on Kill Tony, and they had their own tour.
I was mistaken. I thought that it was Kill Tony.
I thought that it was the actual show Kill Tony,
and it wasn't. So months ago, Ernie Bach, who's a
good friend of Billy's and a good friend of the
radio station, he calls in, you know, through his at home.
He has a studio, Ernie Back, and so he calls
(15:11):
in every week. Billion I talked to him, and I
have this joke with Ernie that once a year I'll
ask him for a favor, which is tickets to a
Box Center show and he's super cool about it. So
I said Ernie, my one asked, this year has come up?
He said, no problem, what is it? I said, kill Tony?
He said cool. Literally three days later tickets showed up
at my house. So shout out to Ernie Baak. He's
(15:32):
super nice guy. But when I got the tickets and
they got closer to the show, I started looking up
the show more and it's called The Killers of kill Tony,
not kill Tony. It was still fantastic, super funny, super edgy.
We had a great time. I went with three of
my friends. We went to Post nineteen seventeen. Would shout
out to them. By the way we went. We paid
(15:53):
there wasn't like a I know they advertised a lot
on kiss went to wait, but I didn't have any
gift cards or anything. I had gone there previously and
loved it, so I brought my friends back. So shout
out to them, Jason Karen and his wife. It really
is fucking amazing restaurant. They have reading Ann Lexington. But
I went twice during the vacation, so that was the
second time. But we went there and then we went
(16:14):
to the show. Got there a little bit late and
when you get tickets from Ernie back he has the
buck suite, right, so I thought the box suite just
meant the seats. They're on the second level, right along
the side. They're always like private, they're always mostly empty
when I've gone, only like they're the tickets that Ernie
gives away, essentially. So we go in there. I show
(16:36):
the tickets to the person. They're like, oh, you're on
the box suite. So they sit us down. The show
is already going on. We're watching the show for about
ten minutes and then I get a tap on my
shoulder and it's the woman the usher who I forget
her name. She was so nice and she's excuse me,
can I see your tickets again? So she looked at
them and she goes, you're actually in the front row
(16:56):
down there. I'm like really, and she goes, yes, I
can take you down there. But do you know that
there's this sweet rate here that you can use that
has an open bar, desserts, bathroom, a really nice lounge furniture.
I'm like, no, I had no idea. She goes, come on,
let me show you. So my friends and I go
into this like private suite and there was nobody else
(17:19):
there up there, so it was just us. So she
brings us in there during the show and she goes
all this alcohol, regular drinks, full bar, all these desserts, bathroom.
I mean, it was fucking incredible. My friends were like,
holy shit, you actually are cool tonight. You know what,
Justin tonight you're cool because every other day it's like,
oh cool, Justin works on the radio and whatever. Like
(17:40):
they don't care. They that's the thing. They don't care
what I do and you know who I meet or whatever.
They just love me for me. That's why they're my
close friends. But let me tell you that night of
Kill Tony, they were mind blown. So a couple of
my friends do drink. They're like normal or whatever. So
they had their drinks and then my mother friend and
I had some coed diepepsies. We brought them up and
we sat and watched the rest of the show and
(18:02):
it was just fantastic. So I don't know, I share
those things, not never, just I want to be very
clear about something when I share things like that. And
I don't need to say this because people that really
know me from listening to the show or know me
in real life know that I don't ever say these
things to flex on anybody or to like, look at me,
look at me. I'm super grateful for everything, and listen.
(18:24):
I asked Ernie Book for tickets one time a year.
It's kind of this running joke that we had. And
so what was the other Oh, Shane Gillis was last
year or the year before. Some years I didn't even
ask him. You know, it's just I don't like asking
for things like that. But it was super nice of
him to do that. And now I know for twenty
twenty six, if there's a show coming to the Box Center,
I'm gonna get in the box suite. So that's pretty cool.
So that was great. Also, my family and I went
(18:45):
to Great Wolf Lodge Foxwoods. It just opened. I don't
know in the last year we've gone to Fitchburg. My
kids love it and it was really really nice. I
was kind of like, oh, man, like we're on vacation
in packed the kids in the car. But let me
tell you it's it's great. It was great. We stayed
in a room and had a bunk beds in it.
(19:07):
The water park was amazing. They had zip lines. I
did that. I posted some pictures of me ziplining, they
went outdoor hot tub and then yeah, it's connected to Foxwoods,
which is which is cool. I'm not a big gambler.
I talked about this during the show. But there's something
really really funny hat happened. I'll share that in a second.
But so we were at Great Wolf. We spent the
day there. We drove down in the morning early. You
(19:30):
couldn't check into the afternoon, but you could use the
water park. So we went in and brought a change
of clothes. They have all the slides and everything. My
kids just they love it so much. So we went
there and then we kind of did the arcade. They
have all the games, and then we got our room
and then that night we went to the casino. We
went to dinner at Guy's Guy Fieri's place, which was good.
(19:50):
It's right in the middle of Foxwoods. Like, my son
was blown away because we're walking through and there's all
these you know, slot machines everywhere, and he doesn't understand
that he's eight years old. He can't play them. And
I get it, like they look like you want to
play them, the slots, you know. So there's a thing
with my wife and I in slot machines in gambling.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
Right.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
Neither of us are big gamblers. And this is actually
an interesting thing because when you talk about addictions, right,
obviously my wife and I struggle with drug addiction, right,
So addictions come in many different forms, right, And gambling
is roped in along with drugs and alcohol and sex
and you know, all those things kind of you know,
(20:34):
the disease of addiction is all encompassing, right, But when
it comes to gambling, we're just like, we don't really
like losing money. I guess if you say so. We
have a rule whenever we do go to casinos, which
isn't that often, we take out two hundred dollars and
then we just play and then once the money is
run out, then we leave. We don't take more money out.
(20:54):
It's just a fun thing. My wife plays the lowest
bet possible, right, like a quarter or fifty cents, because
she's there for fun. She wants to keep pressing the
button and she's hoping to win. But you know, she
makes her money least, she stretches it out, whereas I
I do dollar bets sometimes five dollar bets, three dollar bets,
because I feel like that pays more and She's always like,
(21:16):
you're an idiot, Like we're here for fun, Like if
you win, you win, who cares. It's about playing, it's
the time spending. And I'm like no. So we're in
the casino, and obviously we have kids with us, so
we can't gamble at the same time. So first her
and her friend Brooke. Our friend Brooke went off and
gambled for like, you know, thirty minutes or whatever. Well,
my friend Alan watched, and I watched the kids, and
(21:38):
then we ate dinner. They didn't win. They came back
lost their money, so we eat dinner. So after they're like,
now you guys go, So I take two hundred dollars
from the ATM, and Jen's like talking mad shit. She's like,
don't worry, he'll be back in ten minutes, five minutes.
Maybe he does these big bets. He's gonna win all
this money, but it just goes quick. I don't know
why he does that. This is what she's saying to Brook.
I'm like, okay, I walk over to a machine with
(22:01):
my friend Alan. I put one hundred dollars in, I
do one dollar bets. I press it once, I press
it twice, I press it the third time, five hundred
dollars win. Okay, Now I'm like riding high. I'm like, okay,
what's the plan now? So I took out two hundred dollars.
Now I had five hundred dollars. So I thought to myself,
(22:23):
I still have one hundred. I can gamble two hundred
more dollars. If I lose it, I'll walk away with
three plus thee hundred that I have. And that means
I doubled my money. So that's what I did. I
started doing five dollar bets and just blew, you know,
I was hoping to win big. I blew through the
other two hundred and then I cashed out. I went
over and got the cash and I had four hundred
(22:44):
dollars and I walked back up to my wife and
I'm like, Hi, you doing win now? She's like, no way.
So that was an interesting moment there. So I doubled
my money there. So yeah, that was New Year's Day.
We went to Great Wolf. We came back just the
next day on Friday, and then this past weekend we
were just chilling. I was anxious to get back man,
anxious to get back to work. I do very, very
(23:05):
well with routine. I don't know if that's from being institutionalized.
It may be. I don't know, but you know, the
first week of vacation is great, it's relaxing, unwinding. But
by the second week, and I know a lot of
you feel this way, it's like, what day is it.
I'm itching to kind of get back to work. I
don't want to get up early again. But I don't know.
(23:27):
I was so happy when when I got up this morning.
I mean, I'm lucky. I have a job that I love,
you know, I love coming to work. And there were
so many moments during the vacation where I'd see a
story online or on the news or wherever, and I'm like, damn,
I wish we were in to talk about that, you know,
some of the drama with the Patriots or just anything.
Speaker 2 (23:44):
You know.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
I see these stories and I'm like, oh man, we
would be covering that story. So I don't know. It's
going to be back. It's a brand new year. I
hope big things are going to be happening for the
after show again. You know, guests will be coming in.
Power of Recovery is coming back next Tuesday, So please
get your question in. You can always leave talkbacks for me.
I will get them any time of day. You have
to be listening on the iHeart app, though you can
(24:06):
listen anywhere, but you have to be listening on the
iHeart app to leave it.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
Talk about hi again. I just tried to leave a
callback a message. I just wanted to continue telling justin
how much I think you are the greatest. You're so inspirational.
Your interview with Maria back over a year ago with wonderful.
I recorded it but lost it when we had issues
(24:35):
with Verizon. All right, I'm going to continue.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
Thank you so much. I don't know about the greatest.
It's nice to hear those things, but I do appreciate
you that saying that. And yeah, that Maria Stefinals interview
from Channel five that was actually one year as of
last November. I did send a note to Mariasdefinals, just
thanking her again, wishing her happy holidays. Like that video
like changed my life in a good way, you know,
(25:02):
like putting it all out there, putting my life and
my history out there. Because I talk about that stuff
on the radio, but not as in detail. But in
that video I kind of was raw, unfiltered, like this
is my history, this is where I come from, and
this is where I am now. So that's on my
Instagram by the way, at Justin Beasy. It's pinned at
the top so you can watch it.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
That.
Speaker 1 (25:22):
That was quite the moment. So thank you for those words.
And yeah, you can leave talkbacks at any time. I
love hearing from you guys. Also, we have a new
phone number on the show and a new phone screener.
I want to clear this up a little bit. The
new phone screener, her name is Katie. So when the
changes were made last year when when he was let go,
(25:44):
they eliminated that position. So I want to clear this
up because I did get some messages about this. So
when that change happened, which sucks, we know I've talked
endlessly about it. But when that happened, they eliminated that position.
That's what they told us. So Producer Riley is running
the equipment. She's not talking on the show. The show
is Billy, Lisa and Justin. That's the show that's left.
(26:06):
We might go to Riley on different things, but she's
not a fourth mic. That position was eliminated. But by
bringing Riley in to now run the board and run
the show like off the air that left a phone
position open, so I was answering the phones while live
on air, Riley was running out of the room, so
it was important to get somebody in there to answer
(26:27):
the phones, and we were lucky enough to find Katie.
And Katie is our new phone screener. She's very lovely.
I'm sure we'll bring her on the after show at
some point so you can meet her. She lives in Cambridge.
I don't really know a ton about her, but she's
super nice, super willing to learn, which we love. So
we welcome her to the Billy and Lisa Show. But
just to clear that up, like people, oh my god,
you know, which is understandable. I listen. Any outrage that
(26:49):
anybody has about anything that happens, I do understand because
it shows that you care, that you care about this
what we have here, So that means a lot to me.
But just no, like that's what was told to us,
right Like, we work for a company and they said listen,
this is being eliminated, and so that's that voice is
no longer here. I don't know if that's going to
change ever, I have no idea, but as of right now,
(27:11):
that's what's happening. So there you go. Wow, I've been
talking for twenty seven minutes. I can't believe it. Well,
I told you I had a lot to talk about,
and there was still some stuff on my list that
I did not get to. I bought a car, right,
I got a car, which was very cool. I trade
my car in every two years because I don't want
to put work into it. And I believe that a car,
my car is very important because I get up at
(27:33):
three o'clock in the morning, I have to drive into work,
I have some small children. There's a lot of reasons there.
So you know, there's two different schools of thought there.
You could get a car and pay it off as
quick as possible, but by the time I pay it off,
then I'm at you know, one hundred thousand miles. You know,
I put thirty to thirty five thousand miles a year
on a car, so a lease is out of the question.
(27:53):
Or I would lease. So yes, I'll pay the car off,
but by then I'm over one hundred thousand miles. Now
I'm putting all this work into it. Things could go wrong,
and you know the cars in the shop, so to me,
it's worth spending a little bit of extra money to
trade the car in every couple of years. So I
wanted a specific new car, and you know, shout out
(28:14):
to Kevin at Highline Auto and sail into Hampshire right
down the street from my house. Now, you know, I'd
always gone to other places like McGovern or, you know
herb Chambers, just like Dale which are great, but you know,
he was recommended that he could maybe find the car
that I was looking for. So I went into Kevin,
don't know him, didn't know anything about him, just walked
in and said hey, I'm looking for a car and
he was like booda doo. Found the car in New York.
(28:36):
That was on the Monday of Christmas week. Found it
on Monday, punched the numbers in, said okay, I'll buy
your car for this much and this will be your
new monthly payment. And the math was math and so
what does that mean? That means to me? When I
think about money that goes out every month, I think
about like, okay, how much is it going to more
is it going to cost me in insurance, in registration
(28:58):
and per month? And so when I put all those
numbers in and figured it out, the math was mathing right,
This little boy math there and it worked out, so
I got the car. It got shipped on Monday that day,
was here on Wednesday, so I was able to get
the car Christmas Eve. It's beautiful. I love it, love it,
love it so much. So I don't know, man, just
(29:18):
good things. It's all good things going into the New
Year's It stays a positive mindset. It stays doing the
right thing right. That's the biggest thing for me. Staying
clean is obviously always number one, but after like you know,
the first several years that stopped being really said, it's
more like just implied, right, that's always going to be
(29:39):
number one. Everything else is number two, three, four, and five.
Stay clean, staying in recovery, staying helping people, staying helping
myself and working on myself will always be number one.
But after that, it's like, yeah, do the right thing right,
keep showing up for my family, for my job, treat
people good, you know, all that stuff I will continue
(30:01):
to do. But yes, staying clean is number one. So
I hope everything as well in your life. If you're
going through stuff, I understand, I know that my turn
is coming. All of our turns are coming. We had
a call her on the show this morning whose sister
is going through chemo. So is it a happy New
Year for her? I don't know, probably not. One of
my close friends is going through chemo right now. He's
(30:24):
forty four years old. He has colon cancer. So he's
at Mass General. He's a just finished chemo. Now. He
takes a month off and then goes into radiation. But
it's very very scary, very scary, some of the stuff
that he tells me. He was one of the guys
that went to kill Tony with me. I love him
so much, and you know, we're at dinner and he's
talking about, like in detail about what going through chemo is, like,
(30:48):
you know, and I don't even I can't even explain it, man,
you know, just the forgetfulness, the you know, dysentery orientated,
just you know, message you up and he's battling through.
So hopefully he'll be okay. So if you're going through
things in the New Year, you can get through it, man.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
You know.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
I always believe that as long as we're still breathing,
we have a shot. Right. That's That's one of the
things that was told to me early in recovery. As
long as you're justin you're still breathing. Yes, you just
came off the street. You have nothing, You are homeless, penniless,
your family won't talk to you. You have warrants for
your arrest. But you know what, you are still fucking breathing.
And as long as that is happening, you have a
(31:31):
chance and you can build up from there. So I
want to say happy New Year to you all. Don't
forget the new number on the show eight seven seven
six one seven one one eight. The old number nine
to three one still does work for a little while,
but we are transitioning out because that technology that that
phone number used is way outdated. That's why we were
(31:52):
getting dropped calls and all that stuff. So we got
a brand new number eight seven seven six one seven
one one o eight. That's the number to call. But
as always, you canna gave talkbacks at any time on
the iHeartRadio app and again only on the iHeart app
listening to the after show for the after show, you
got it. I love you guys so much. I can't
wait to talk to you, can't wait to hear from
you tomorrow. I'll grab somebody on here because I don't know. Man,
(32:15):
I don't want to talk to myself. Every single day,
thirty two minutes of talking to myself. Can you believe it?
We'll talk tomorrow. Peace,
