Speaker 1 (00:00):
Okay, Whinnie, welcome in everybody after show justin Whinnie. And
I was looking at yesterday's podcast title, Winnie, it's labeled
as down with the Sickness. That's a song from somebody
that's disturbed. Good catch, that's a good workout song. And
I think I am still down with the sickness. It's
just my nasal. I feel fine otherwise. I mentioned yesterday
(00:22):
I had been sick all weekend. Literally, it just went
from symptom to symptom.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
It's weird.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
You know you have a cold and it's just a cold.
This was like sore throat, headache, fever, chills, and then nasal.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
So how do I sound better? Really?
Speaker 1 (00:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Yeah, from yesterday, you're a little bit more nasily interesting.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Interesting. Well, I'm gonna go to Billy's event tonight.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
YEP in Lindfield.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
It's going to be a super spreader event.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Well you and Billy are you there? Well, we both
have colds, eats, a viral thing that we've I've been
tested for everything.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Billy has the same thing.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
I have one hundred and fifty Oh and that's I
won't shake hands.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
I'll do fist bumps.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
If people want ted pictures.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
I won't put my arm on them.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
You're gonna have to be a selfie who guts about
your arm, your face cheeked to cheek with them?
Speaker 2 (01:07):
What should I do wear a mask?
Speaker 1 (01:10):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:10):
I think it's they're if they're at the event, they
most likely might probably listen to the show. Well, no,
they're They definitely in the show, and they probably listen
to the after show, so they'll know and maybe they'll
be okay to risk that to get a picture with you.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Oh, they would do that for me, They probably.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Would, Okay, so nice? Who would you Who would you
risk like an ailment for for selfie with?
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Okay, I thought you were gonna say a person. I
would say my kids.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
No, No, no, like what what celebrity? Yeah? Who's somebody
that you're like, Oh, I need They're right there in
front of me. I need a picture. I don't care
that they have a cold. I'm gonna take a picture
with them.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Um hmmm.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
I would say maybe like a Jay Z or someone
like a nineties rapper that I had.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
Bars low, because I think for most people, I would
if I really wanted a picture with them and they
had a cold, I'd be like, it's two seconds so
you know they have a cold and they're contagious. It's
a cold, and you're Yeah, if it's a cold, it's
one second for selfie. That will last me a lifetime to.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
Think about a cold though, right, Like you think about
how often we're exposed.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
I think it was all the time. With sickness, we're
exposed all the time. I feel like.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
It's it's in that moment when you're exposed, how strong
your immune system is at that time. Yeah, you know,
because as this happened to you, especially in my house,
not every time one of my kids and my.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Wife gets sick. Do I get sick?
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Yeah, and not every time like I got it now
Jen has it, but Abel and Gemma are fine, right, So.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
I think it just depends, so you might not get it.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
You say that as your as you're sorry, frogs out.
I mean I grew up. I have three siblings, so
there were six in my parents So there were six
of us in the house. In my parents' house is
not baby and me and my sisters shit in a room.
So I don't think there was every time we're all
six of us, God's sick at once.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Yeah, some people thought of that house.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
It didn't happen like that. So yeah, no, I think
you're I think you're good.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
And it's a little early in the season for me
to get sick. I usually don't get sick until later on.
And I know that because in November I go to
Vermont every single year and I'm always every year parentot
of be getting sick, you know, during that weekend, and
every year I don't get sick leading up to it
or the weekend. I get sick after. So it's a
little bit early.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
But I don't know.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
Question for you. You talked about hip hop rappers, jay
Z whatever, DMC came in. Oh yeah, I knew nothing.
I mean I was off the grid for like, you know,
seven days. What the fuck was that?
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (03:31):
He Okay, So he had an event at Ernie box House,
Oh my god, because they're working on this musical for
it's called rock Bottom. It's about it's to support recovery. Yeah,
And why Ernie Bok is involved is because on part
of the musical is DMC and like a bunch of
rock legends, the guy from Arrowsmith, which Stephen Tyler, no, no, no, no,
(03:53):
the other one Tommy Hamilton, the one I didn't know
the guy Simon from Bad Company. There's a bunch of
rock people, you know. Ernie's into that world. So DMC
was here for the musical to like record it. And
he also got a proclamation on City Hall Plaza from
the City of Boston for his work in recovery.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
He's been in recovery a long time?
Speaker 3 (04:12):
How long has he been sober?
Speaker 2 (04:14):
A long time?
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Like he was like, did hard drugs?
Speaker 1 (04:17):
I think it was more alcohol. But did you know
that he had a voice issue?
Speaker 3 (04:21):
No?
Speaker 2 (04:21):
Yeah, I didn't know this either, So I did a
bio on him, read up on him.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
I mean, I know DMC, but so he blew up
obviously run DMC pioneer of hip hop. I think in
the nineties late nineties his voice started to give out
from all the yelling. Think about when he performs right, yes,
and he had like a big scare. And then he
changed the music that he did. He did more like
singing or you know, lower thing. But you can still
(04:47):
hear it in his voice. Interesting, his voice cracks a
little bit. Yeah, he came. He was ten minutes late,
so live. Yeah, so put into perspective. We go on
the air with him at eight fifteen. We're supposed to
be in commercials at eight twenty Yep, he walked into
the studio at eight twenty six.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
What the fuck did you do?
Speaker 1 (05:04):
We had been teasing him and everything, you know, they
said he was two minutes out. He was really ten
minutes out. So we just put him on and let
him run. Yeah, we didn't go to commercials until like
eight thirty seven, and then you.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Had a pop Pug and then you entertainment.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
What was it two minutes, two three minutes? Yeah, but
it was worth it. He was really really good.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
I mean he's one of those guys, like he's media trained.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
I mean, he's one of those people. I mean I'm obviously,
like I'm not a huge hip hop head, but like
at the end of the day, like I everyone knows
who that they literally helped invent hip hop. So you
have you have to have him on, Yes, you have to.
And then growing up, I used to watch Run's House.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
Yep on empty Oh yeah, yeah, was he on that?
Speaker 3 (05:42):
Not that I can recall. It was more run in
his family and his kids.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
Yeah I remember that.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
Yeah, no, that Yeah, that's how I kind of really
like learned about them. But I saw that I said
to my boyfriend, Like what the fuck? Of course, like
the week I'm not at work, it was like we
had some cool guests.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
He has all these side projects.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
Yeah, they all are like em they're a run on
his name and play on his name. And he brought
in the cookies. Daryl makes cookies. Yeah, they were packages around.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
They're good.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
They're like one hundred and fifty calories and a package
and they're basically like two soft cookies. But they were good.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Oh I wish I was here I have them.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
Yep, they were very good.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Hey did I hear going to Ruba again?
Speaker 2 (06:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (06:19):
When are you going?
Speaker 1 (06:20):
March?
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Okay, because I heard you tell I think Santia Ashley,
you're booking a Ruba, but I knew you were going
back and forth about not going to Ruba, going somewhere.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Actually the listeners are the ones that made up my mind.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
There was overwhelming amount of people that said, do a
Aruba again instead of an all inclusive in can't.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
Kun or dr whose idea was dr?
Speaker 2 (06:38):
It was jeninies.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
You know, in all inclusive you know the foods included,
the flights and everything they do, but it's quite pricey.
Oh and the other issue is this is we want
two rooms, right, so we don't want the same room,
so we'd have to get adjoining rooms or a villa.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
You know.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
So in an all inclusive they do have family rooms,
but it's more so, which was fine, but we settled
on we're going to go with Alan, my friend, his family,
and my family, so we split in the airbnb.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
Oh okay, a giant. I'm just trying to catch up
with your life because I don't know what's going on.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Well, Lloyd knows.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
You know so much about it.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
Now that I've listened to five years worth of after
show podcast, I think Winnie will be able to give
you a new summary of your addictions. Justin I think
you're on your way to trying hot yoga next now
that you're enjoying regular yoga.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
Oh it's funny you say that I am doing hot
yoga now.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
My sister doesn't truly like it.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
I sweat it's really fun I missed it the last
two weeks. I was sick this past week. But yeah,
it's been uh, it's been good.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
Yeah. I definitely have recreated the idea like the synopsis
of your drug abuse. I think I got it correct.
I just give it out a little differently than you do.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Yeah, I've heard it.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
I can tell your story.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
I mean, one of the first things you learn when
you get clean is that addiction is much more than drugs.
Drugs is just a symptom of the disease. The disease
is addiction.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
Did I miss my guys?
Speaker 2 (08:06):
Who oh power?
Speaker 1 (08:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (08:07):
Yeah, they were bummed out.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
Oh my god, I'm so sad. They coming back.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
They'll be back in end of October. Okay, early early
maybe early November, bro, I'm so oh.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
Also, I booked a trip yesterday and I didn't ask you.
We're off the like the ninth, Like the nineteenth of
December is our our last show? Right?
Speaker 4 (08:28):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (08:28):
We haven't figured that out yet?
Speaker 3 (08:30):
Can it be because I booked a trip.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
Yeah, I mean we're going to push for that two weeks.
Is that what you mean?
Speaker 3 (08:35):
Yeah, because we always do that and yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
So I looked at it the other day.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
So Christmas is on a Thursday, right, so we'd have
Wednesday and Thursday off that week. So I'm gonna say
our last day would be the.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
Nineteenth, right, because I have a flight the nineteenth.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
We'll take that week off and then the next week.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
New Year's Eve is on the thirty first, so Thursday
we'd half off anyway, It's New Year's Day, so we wouldn't.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
Come back for one day exactly. So we'll have the
two weeks, okay, because I literally.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
My trip yesterday and I was like, I'm pretty sure
we always have that off.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
But and then, you know, I try to be we
try to be accommodating to Billy and Lisa in their
schedules for vacation. That's something we've always done. But in
March Io I did. I did ask Lisa and.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
She was like, let me check.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
But then we realized that Alan's wife, Brooke is in
nursing school and you cannot take time off.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
The nurses during her break, which.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Is March sixteenth, which is like the same week every
It's the third week in March, right, So I had
to book it.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
So hopefully it all works out. If it doesn't, we'll
just figure it out.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
I'm sure. No, So I was I was asking, because
we booked it. We're going to San Diego in December,
and I was like, we're gonna betraying that in a
couple places, but I love San Diego. My boyfriend's never
been and he had enough points for first class. Oh
so excited because I was like, oh my god, like
flying first class on a six hour flight is like awesome.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
But I've never been on a plane that has first
class only.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
Yeah, so it like Delta American Alaska. It's like the
first you know, six rows are like just chew. Right.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
Oh, there's not like a curtain the separation.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
Yeah, there is. So you come into the first six rowsly,
then there's mighty little curtain and then there's comfort, which
is like extra leg room, and then so it's like
it's kind of like divided up a little bit. But
I was just like I said to him, I'm like, okay,
you have enough points for a first class and like.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
Look at you.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
Well, because I said, but first class one way, I'm like, okay,
I would rather fly first class one way than use
all your points to fly round trip like economy, because
I had enough points to fly back in economy. Wait
December nineteenth, and when are you coming back December? Actually
we fly in we fly overnight into Christmas morning, so
(10:45):
we get back Christmas morning at like six am.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
It's like home alone.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
Yeah, so you go on the nineteenth Oh wow, you're
going for six five days.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
Yeah, so I figured we get we're gonna get there
like eight o'clock their time, and then we'll have like
four like full days, so it's like five nights. But
then because you're there all day on the twenty fourth,
it's like the twenty at the twenty it's really five, right,
twenty at twenty first, yeah, a twenty third, twenty fourth,
it's like five full days because we fly out at
like nine pm or ten pm on the twenty fourth.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
Yeah, because you have to.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
That's one thing we didn't take into account last time
we went to Aruba is the travel days. Yeah, because
that even though you might have some hours, you know,
you want the full days, right, So you leave on
the nineteenth, so you'll have the twenty at twenty first,
twenty second, twenty.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
Third, and then all the twenty fourth because we file
like ten thirty at night on the twenty fourth.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
Oh yeah, that's right, because.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
We get we land at like six am our time.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
Well, you're going to be on a plane as Christmas,
I know, right?
Speaker 3 (11:40):
Will it be Christmas twice for me? Maybe? Maybe, depending
about what time zone I'm flying over. Wow, I mean
it's the best time, but we don't have kids or
anything like that, Like I don't have to be home
Christmas morning.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Fuck it.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
Anyways, all right, well that's good.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
I was just checking because I said, I said to myself,
I'm just gonna do it, because I'm pretty sure we
always have it.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
We're definitely gonna push for that. It's that it's always
the same thing. Jingle balls on a Sunday, we come
back work that week, and then we're off for the
rest of the year.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
That's just the way it is.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
So it's the way it has to be. And we
have like four vacate we have four work company holiday days,
so we only take like actual a week of work.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
Right, yeah, which is our last week of vacation. So
all right, I'm gonna go home and get ready for
this meet to Eat event. If you're going, I'll see you.
If you don't want it's at six. If you don't
want to get sick, stay away, Billy.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
Billy kind of is trying to guilt me into going,
but then he said, oh no, never mind, I forgot out.
You're coming from the cell short.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
It's gonna be rough where I'm coming from. Once you
get to ninety five it's a nightmare. Yeah, and you
know you're gotta go up ninety three?
Speaker 3 (12:39):
What what's you? Or I could go one twenty eight
to ninety five. I could go yeah, but either way
it's gonna take me like an hour.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
You take a lot to pass. Yeah, all right, everybody,
we'll talk tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
Be well.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
Heye,
