Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, everybody, Welcome in to the After Show. I'm justin.
It is a Monday. Today is October the twentieth, and
I told you i'd be back on Monday, and now
here I am. And I have a special guest today.
Not only is she special, but she is the most
requested guest on the After Show. Lisa Donovan.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Welcome.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
This is cool.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Yeah, you're right.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
I've never been one on one with you. There's always
been you know, other people in the room. So this
is our moment.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
This is my dream, right, this is my dream. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
So, Lisa, the reason why she hasn't been a guest
on the After Show, I think once or twice you
might have stopped in. It's because you're the busiest person
that I know, No, really like they work you like
a dog here.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
So after that we talk about what I told you
this morning.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
Absolutely. Yeah, okay.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
So to your point, well, this week I have two
book clubs. I have the Ellen Hildebrand one at justin
Me tomorrow tomorrow, and then I have Thursday. I have
to drive to Hartford and I'm doing Jeff Benedict, who
wrote The Dynasty, who did my book club like six months.
I'm here in Boston. He was great, he's doing Hartford.
He has a new book coming out, a Tom Cruise book.

(01:06):
But we're going to talk about the Dynasty all that
Coast stuff. So I drive to Hartford and then I'm
hosting a movie screening at Showcase Cinemas Friday night, and
there's a new development.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Hold on, is this an after show exclusive? This is
an after you're bringing the heat to the podcast.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
In the heat, no one else has heard this story,
bringing it to you. Okay, our boss calls me on
Friday and says, hey, remember that thing I talked to
you about like a couple of months ago, Well it's happening.
I said great. He goes, yeah, you are going to
run a half marathon. I was like what? And when
did I say that I was running a half marathon.

(01:46):
He's like, yeah, don't you I don't know. He goes,
I don't know. But marathon sports. You know we're gonna
You're going to go into partnership with them, and they
know you're a runner, and you talk about it on
the show a lot, which I do. I think maybe
at some point I I said I was thinking about
running a half marathon, and the word is thinking about
so now I am running a half marathon when I

(02:08):
think it's going to be November twenty second. It's in Pabody.
It's a Live Strong charity event. Happy to do it.
So yeah, so I started my training yesterday. I ran
twelve miles.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Oh yeah, you got this in the bad.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
I'm fine with it. But again I was like, okay,
I guess I'm doing this.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
But you have been talking about it for years about
running the Boston Marathon as an ultimate goal.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
Well, the BAA has this thing, they have a three
race thing that they do during the year, and I
had signed up for it like a couple of years ago,
and then you know, I was I couldn't do the races.
So it's like a five k to ten k and
then a half marathon. So their half marathon is November ninth,
and I'm going to be out. I'm going to be
away that weekend, so I can't do it. So that's
when the November twenty second date came around. So yeah,

(02:53):
I've been talking about it, and this is like pushing
me to do it.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Now.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
You know what, this is a turkey trot. It is
it's right before Thanksgiving. You're right, right, it's kind of
like a turkey traad.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
I can have like a second piece of pie.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
So you did twelve miles, so you got this in
the bag.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Yeah, I think I'm okay. Like I just had to,
Like I was like, how will my body feel? And
I feel fine?

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Well, the thing about you is you've been running a
long time. You love to run, and a lot of
people might not know that. You get up super early,
even earlier than us in run most days.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Write I mean, there will be a lot of women
out there are going to relate to this. But sometimes
as a woman, you wake up in the middle of
the night, get two thirty, and you just can't go
back to sleep, right, So we get up at like
three forty five anyway, So I'm kind of like, why
would I just lay here for an hour? Why don't
I just get up, get my workout in, and then
like check that box.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
You get it out of the way exactly.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
Yeah, so then you can go home and do whatever
you need to do or take a nap.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
So yeah, so you get up to if you went
two thirty, you wake up, you get on the treadmill.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
Yeah, I mean I don't do it all the time. Yeah,
but I've done it a couple of times. Definitely.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Yeah, you are a big runner, so this is actually perfect.
I'm actually happy that they did this Marathon Sports. Yeah,
I'm surprised someone hasn't done it sooner.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
It's marathon Sports and PbD. So what we're gonna do
is we're gonna sort of document my journey on social
leading up to the race.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Okay, that's cool. Are you gonna have to like give
updates while running?

Speaker 3 (04:21):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
That would be funny. That would be funny.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
I know.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
I just hope the weather's okay. Oh yeah, and if
it's like a day.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Like today, hopefully the sun is shining, you know what.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
Yeah, but anyway, it's for a good cause, so hopefully
it's going to work out. But yeah, so you'll see
me out in Pebty on November twenty second.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
Look at you come into the after show with an
exclusive for our listeners.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
I do.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
Yeah, you're the most requested person that come on, because
Billy comes on sometimes. Obviously we had Winny, Whinny doesn't
work here anymore, so people were like, you know, should
I I was like, should I continue the after show
right away? Dms and talkbacks get Lisa on, you know,
because this is more of an unfiltered Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
I like it.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
When we're on the air, we have to you know,
fit a certain standard.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
So to say, yeah, and it's timed out.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Yeah, I know you're not gonna swear, but you can
swear if you ever need to, you can swear. I
won't make you do it. I'm trying to do it often,
but you know whatever, But you know, we're doing We're
doing the best we can here, right. There were some
changes on the show, and you know, we move forward.
That's how it is. And I feel like today was better.
I feel like some people were like, you know, not

(05:21):
so much angry at us somewhere, but just like, Okay,
this is a change, this is different, and we're going
to figure it out. And I got a lot of
talkbacks from today, people being like, you know, okay, I
can get behind this.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
We're sad about it with the change we are too. Yeah,
we definitely definitely are sad about it.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
It was shocking.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Yeah, I was.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
I was talking to Winnie this weekend and she was like,
we were talking about some of the kind of the
people that were upset or whatever, and she was like, yeah,
you know, and this is from her. She goes people
just don't understand the business. She's like, I get it.
How many times was she working here when this happened
to other people? And it's not just in radio, it's
in all media, all companies really, you know, and it sucks.
There's no other way to explain it. Yeah, yeah, Lisa,

(06:01):
real quick. I went to Screamfest this weekend at Canoby Lake.
It was very busy, but I went through all the
haunted houses and I had to be strong for my
son because he's only eight.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
Yeah, I'm terrified of them.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
You don't go in them.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
I was thinking about doing the Abington one.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
That one's scary.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
Okay. The last time I was there, I dropped Max off.
He was probably in tenth grade with a bunch of
his friends. I'm I for some reason, I got out
of the car in the parking lot, walked them in.
Getting back to my car, they have.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
People in the park yeah, with chainsaws and chainsaws.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
The guy literally it was like a blood curdling scream.
I was like, get me out of here. I was terrified,
so I didn't even imagine what goes on inside. But
I want to go.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Yeah, it's fun. It is fun, gets scared. Lisa Gemma went,
she's still. She didn't go press, she didn't go in
the haunted houses, but she was walking around with the
scary guy. She got to scared a couple of times.
Did they touch you, No, they can't talk. Yeah, they
can't touch you. But you know, when you go in
with your kid, it's like, you know, you've got to
be strong for him. But they got me a couple
of times.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
It was fun.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
So check it out. Well, Lisa, this is great, Thank
you so much. Will you come back? Will you come back?

Speaker 4 (07:12):
Of course I will when you're not running around to share. Yeah,
when you're not busy as ever, there's a lot to share,
all right, everybody Tomorrow another after show. Who knows who
I might bring on, Maybe Lisa again, maybe someone else,
but you have to listen to find out.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
So yeah,
