Speaker 1 (00:00):
Check one two one two one two is this thing
on Oh My God After Show podcast. I'm here to
say goodbye and happy holidays. It is time for vacation,
but you know I couldn't leave you guys hanging. The
show is over. It is ten thirty. I finally am
finishing up all of the work that I've been doing

(00:20):
and had to do today as we slide off into
vacation and close out twenty twenty five. I just wanted
to say to you to the after show Army, thank you.
I love you, and yeah, thank you for being you.
I appreciate it so much. I do my best to
do a podcast as much as possible. And you know what,
today's show was so so much fun, man, so much fun.

(00:42):
Make sure you check it out on the podcast. We
had the end of year Awards, which is something that
we look forward to every year. We also had the
talk Packer of the Year. Kim is our talkbacker of
the Year. I know some people probably upset about that,
but I don't know, Man, she brought it. She was consistent,

(01:03):
very funny. Anything that we're talking about every day, she
has something to add to it, which is why the
mayor of the South End won too. You know, he
adds to the show, and I feel like every talkbacker
adds to the show in their own way. But you know,
Kim stood out from the very beginning, so she won.
And then of course there was Billy's boyfriend who joined
the same thing, joins the show every single day. But

(01:25):
I gotta be honest with you, even Billy's boyfriend left
a talkback nominating Kim and said he thought Kim should win,
So shout out to him. And of course Sarah from Maine,
who is a regular talkbacker but went the extra mile
when she went undercover at the Jordan Hudson pageant that
was earlier this year. Man, so much happened this year,

(01:46):
and I'm looking forward to twenty twenty six. You know,
it's been a wild year. You know, there was some
changes obviously, the change to the show, the big change
that you know, kind of shocked everybody, and working through
that and you know, trying to find our way, and
you know, we're doing our best. To shout out to Winnie.
She has her podcast. If you miss her, make sure
you listen to that. Support her, Support her podcast, because

(02:09):
you know it's if you're a fan of what she says,
and her as a person her as a on air personality.
She has a podcast that you can listen to. You
can listen to both. You can listen to our show,
you can listen to that, or you can just listen
to that. It doesn't listen. It's a free world, free country.
You can do whatever you like. So, yeah, a lot
of changes on the show this year, and you know,
we did our best to find our way. It's a

(02:31):
different show. One of the things that drives me nuts, though,
is people say that the show is not edgy enough.
Billy kind of alluded to this a couple of days
ago on the podcast, and I get what's missing from
the show, right, is that kind of you know, off
the top random comments. I know that's missing on the show.

(02:53):
But when you say that the show is not edgy,
I mean, look, you know we're playing crazy clips, like
crazy things. I'm playing talk back saying crazy things. I
mean what other radio show is playing crazy you know
Billy things that he's saying and kind of like riskue things.

(03:13):
You know, the show is not all vanilla. So you
know I get that the anger and listen, I've talked
on and on about this. I'm not going to like
keep going about it. But I do my best best
to bring some edge. But I do understand that observation
because it's true that is missing. I can't do that.
I can only do that through the clips. You know,

(03:36):
that's not who I am as a person. That's who
Winnie is as a person. That's what made her valuable, right,
that's who she is in real life. She says those things.
She doesn't think about it, she just says it. And
it's funny sometimes, sometimes it's crazy, sometimes it's absolutely wild.
And that was kind of the you know, the added
part of the show. And again, I can't do that.

(03:59):
You know, I'm not That's not who I am. That's
not who Billy is, that's not who Lisa is. So
changes to the show I think we did okay, I
think kind of it's kind of died off or whatever.
But going into the new year, it's the highest ratings
that we've had in a couple of years, which is
good news. It means people are moving around, they're listening more,

(04:19):
they're they're tuning in, they're liking what they're hearing. So,
you know, it just makes me feel good because you know,
I put my heart and soul into this show, you know,
even all the stuff from today. You know, it's what
I love doing. I love audio. I have this weird talent, man,
this weird ability to save audio, save it a certain way,

(04:42):
and pull it up really quickly. So you know, I'm
always working throughout the year and kind of saving all
these funny things and then you know, I save them
a certain way so that I can find them, so
that by the end of the year I can compile
everything because I'm big on reusing things, you know, And
you know, that's the advice I always give two other shows,

(05:03):
because you know, other shows, whether it be in the
building or outside the building, will come to me and say, hey,
how do you do this? Like how do you do
that with the audio? And that's one thing I'll say
is every day, when you have a piece of audio
that you think you may use again, you want to
store that in a way where you can find it.
You want it to be organized. And that's that's a

(05:24):
big thing that I have going is the organization of
all of my audio. How I store it, and that's
how I'm able to pull it up really quickly. It
sounds amazing, right, It sounds like how does he do that.
It's just a system that I'm consistent with and it's
proven to be successful. So you know, I love putting
together these compilations at the end of the year. I

(05:45):
talked about it on jingle Ball Day. I get in
seven eight in the morning. I don't have to be
at the garden until like four o'clock, and I literally
come in here, I get a nice meal, and I
work by myself, and I put together everything for today's show,
something I've always done and I mentioned on the show.
A really cool moment with Kim in the studio was

(06:06):
after it was over, I walked out and our boss
Dylan was sitting on the couch outside listening on the
iHeartRadio app to our show, to the segment dying laughing,
and I was like, man, like that just warms my soul.
You know, it makes it makes it all worth it.
You know. I love what I do. I get to
live out a dream every single day I show up.

(06:27):
It's not easy to get up every single morning. It's
not easy to be funny and engaging every day, especially
in a world with so much going on, so much bad,
so much negativity, especially with things going on in all
of our lives, family stuff. You know, everyone has problems.
I have my own problems at home, you know. I
get stuff with my son going on, my wife, my family.

(06:51):
And to show up five days a week and put
that aside and be entertaining and be engaging and be funny.
It's not easy, man, It's not easy. But I do
my best. I do my best, and I always just
try to have an attitude of gratitude. Man. That's what
it is. It's looking at life in a positive way

(07:13):
because how your life is going to go is a
lot on your perspective, right. It's the kind of like,
you know, I'll quote my friend Randy, if you step
in dog shit, you could be happy that you can
be upset that you stepped in dog shit, or you
can be grateful that you had shoes on. It's all
about perspective in life. I could sit here and complain
about so much shit. I can do the victim mentality

(07:36):
and woe is me and poor me, and I'm not
where I need to be. I don't have enough money,
I don't have this, I don't have that. None of
that stuff matters, man, because we only get one life.
You know, I don't want to go down a whole
like spiritual road here. But you know, we only get
one life, We only get one shot at this. It's like,
what am I gonna do? What am I gonna do
to better my life? To empower others around me, to

(07:58):
raise my kids, to be a good husband, and overall
just be a good human, you know. And that's you know,
when I got clean, I did so much bad before that.
When I got clean, I started to do the right thing.
And that meant no more lying and no more treating
people badly. And I've been consistent in that too. See.
The keyword is consistency. Consistency with things like the audio

(08:21):
at work, and consistency in life with treating other people
with respect and love and dignity, you know. And that's
why it hits me so hard, with like the negative
comments and the overwhelming amount of comments about like this
and that and tearing people down and what we're wearing.
And Billy and Lisa are too old. Let me tell you,

(08:42):
Billy Costa is the youngest seventy plus year old guy
that I know. Right, this guy is like a machine,
Like try doing what he does. It is you think
that I'm a hard worker like this guy comes to
He has two TV shows, a radio show host gal Is.
He has two RATES shows. Actually I don't know how
the fuck he does it, but he is full of

(09:04):
energy and full of life and just a fun guy.
You know. I don't know what you think. Maybe because
you hear these crazy things that he says, then maybe
he's a bad guy. Billy is like the nicest guy
you could ever meet. And it's funny because last week
there was a party at Ernie box house. I couldn't
make it, but it was really cool that Kevin Bacon

(09:25):
was there, Karen Reid was there. I knew some people
that went and I couldn't go. But I was at
home and I was just like looking stuff up that night,
and I'm like, oh, Ernie, you know, and I know Ernie,
And I was kind of looking at his story and
stuff and his dad and the car dealerships. And I
came across a Rereddit post and it said is Ernie
Buck a good guy or not? And there were people commenting,
you know, mostly yes, but no, no, a lot of haters.

(09:48):
You know, he's not a nice guy. Yes, he is
a nice guy. I met him. He's a very generous guy.
Music Drive all this stuff, and then randomly someone wrote,
I don't know about Ernie Bak, but Billy Costa actually
a really nice guy, and that turned into a whole
thread of people being like, Billy Costa is actually the
nicest guy ever. I met Billy at this restaurant. He
came in to eat here. You know what I mean.

(10:09):
If you've met Billy and had any kind of interaction
with him, you would know that. You would know that.
I know sometimes this persona of this crazy guy on
the air can maybe think that he's a certain way,
but trust me when I tell you he is not.
And the same thing with Lisa Donovan. Just the sweetest,
sweetest person ever, for real. So I love my team man.

(10:30):
Shout out to producer Riley too has busted her ass,
literally busted her ass. I did see a bad producer
Riley comment, what is that you act like? Producer Riley
replaced anybody? She did not. She still part time, does
not make a lot of money and busts her ass
every single day, just like I did. So shout out
to her and all that she does. And she baked

(10:53):
me some cookies and stuff like that because I don't
want a gift, but I will always take food because
it's the holiday season and I've been eating. So with
all that being said, I want to say happy Holidays
to all of you. The after show Army, we will
not talk on this podcast until the new year, So
I'm going to get a lot of relaxing done. I'm

(11:13):
going to the Mentalist Sunday night. That's gonna be good
with my buddy Adam. And then I'm going to kill
Tony the next weekend with a bunch of my friends,
and I think we're gonna take like an overnight trip
somewhere with the fam, kind of last minute that should
be fun too. I'll probably want to, like, you know,
leave immediately. I'll leave after ten minutes because you know,
I love my kids, but they drive me absolutely bonkers.

(11:35):
But like, those are the memories that I remember, you know,
I always say, I think about Disney. The last Disney
trip we went twice? Did we go twice or once?
I think we went twice. God, anyway, the last one
we went to now mind you, when we went with
my son, I think he was like four maybe, and
within five minutes of getting to Magic Kingdom he was like,

(11:57):
I don't want to be here. I want to go
back to the hotel pool and we're like, we have
a pool at home. What are you talking about? And
as I look back, I can think, like, there were
a lot of pain in the ass moments. It was hot,
he didn't want to walk, we had to rent a carriage.
He wanted to he didn't want to go on the rides.
But I don't remember any of that, Like it's weird.
I only remember when I look back on it. The

(12:20):
first thing that comes to mind is joy. I think about, man,
that was fun, you know. And you know, if I
really think about it, I can think about, oh, it
was stressful, but overall it was fun. And that's why
we're trying to give our kids experiences. One of their
gifts this Christmas is a trip to Aruba. This is

(12:42):
a trip We've been planning all year long in anticipation
of Christmas. So we've been saving and I've been using
my credit card for the miles like an adult. I
got like a really good credit card, a venture X Cards.
I've been using that in building up the miles. We've
been saving money and we finally planned it paid for
for at in full, and for Christmas, we are going

(13:03):
to give them the gift of Aruba. We brought some
suit well, my wife brought some bought some suitcases and
some pictures of Aruba, and we're gonna go back in
March for the March vacation, you know, and they're gonna
remember that for the rest of their lives. They're not
going to remember every toy that we got them, they're
not going to remember that, but they'll remember every vacation

(13:23):
or times we went away to Great Wolf Lodge anything
like that. It's all about the experiences. So I don't know.
I'm not gonna go off on an another tangent. I
want to say I love you guys, and have a
great holiday, have a happy new Year. We will talk
in twenty twenty six. Bye.
