Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, well this is going to be a weird one.
Welcome to the After Show Podcast. My name is Justin.
Typically I would say Winnie would be here as well,
but when he is not here, and it's been several
years since she hasn't been here to do this podcast
with me. But I'm here and Billy Costa is here.

(00:21):
Thank you for joining.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Is this my first podcast?

Speaker 3 (00:23):
This is? Oh, you idiot, You've been on a million
times now.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
I'm sitting next to you, Like, do I get an
entry song or something?

Speaker 1 (00:31):
I can make one if you commit to doing, you know,
a regular appearance on the podcast, so we.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Could be like the next Joe Rogan or something. I
think we're behind the ball on that.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Okay, But the thing is that, you know the after
show we're going to talk about all this stuff and
Winnie and everything. Yes, but the after show is done typically.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
Every day after the show, and you're the busiest guy
I know, so you can't commit to doing it all
the time.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Yeah, that sounds like a very large commitment.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
But if I were to continue the after show podcast,
which I would want to even though I'm a little
bit upset, would you commit to maybe a couple of
days a week.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Absolutely, okay, absoluutely okay.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
Now, for our people that are listening, what's going to
happen is this is going to come a day soon
where I'm gonna say the show's gonna end.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
I'm gonna say, Bill, can you jump in for the app?
I got TV, I gotta shoot at Capri, I gotta
shoot meet Boston, I gotta meet Michelle. I got a gala.
I can't get prepare.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
For instance, we don't have a podcast tomorrow, do we tomorrow?

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Yeah, Tomorrow's Thursday. Of course we do. That's what we do. Anyway,
welcome in. Yeah, this is a weird one. This is
definitely a weird after show podcast. So this podcast was
started back in twenty eighteen Billy Wow with Bes and I.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Oh that's right, hey x Yeah, remember they had that
podcast Guy at iHeart iHeart come in.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
They flew him in from California.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
They flew him in to talk about how important podcasting
was and how we had to come up with an
original podcast and you know the best thing to do
would be doing after show. So and I did it,
and you would join sometimes sure, yeah, And then Beck's
left and then Winnie came on.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
And then Winnie became my co host. We became co
host together.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
I would comment occasionally with you and Winnie.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Right, you almost got his band several times.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
Oh really, Nobody spoke to me about that.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Uh, yeah, well we deal with that.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
That's interesting you say that, because my biggest fear was
if I were to come in with you and Winnie
somehow I would lose my job about something we said
as a group.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Unless you said something super offensive. But it's not really
regulated by the FCC, like terrestrial radio is.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
All right, you know, you can swear fuck just like that,
you can swear fuck.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
All right.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Now we're on all right, so let's get to it.
So this has been really tough. It's been really really tough.
Billy went to Africa, right, This was planned a year
in advance, and while Billy was in Africa, Mikey, Lisa
and myself were doing the show covering the show. So
on Tuesday, Billy was not here, the show ended and
literally out of nowhere.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
We were told the change was happening. Yeah, like out of.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Knowing, and I still didn't know I was in Africa.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
You had no idea.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
It was actually a crazy story because I was on
the phone with Billy after the show. So Billy's in
the bush talking to me about being in the bush,
and so he's going on and on, and I'm getting
ready to record the podcast with Winnie and I'm sitting
here and I'm getting annoyed because I had to go
leave ready for this.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
I can't believe you remembered this.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
I forgot. Yeah, So I had to leave. Gandhi was
in town for three hours in Boston. She came in
on a boat from New York on an endorsement, so
she was going to be here, so I had to
go meet her.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
So I'm talking to Billy. I'm looking at the clock.
I gotta record the podcast, So I'm like, where is Winny.
I'm getting you know it? So then I jump out
of my studio on the phone with Billy. Billy's talking
yucking it up with the Lions. Yeah, And I'm looking
around and then I see an office store shut and
I go over and I look in and I just
see tears, and I'm like my heart dropped. And I
said to Billy, I gotta go, and I hung up

(03:58):
on Bill and Bill starts panicking in Africa.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Now I'll give you my perspective. I'm standing in the bush,
all right, I'm isolated, I'm in the middle of nowhere,
and I'm talking. We're having a normal conversation, and then
you started getting distracted and you were like, yeah, oh, no,
hold on, no hold on, and then I gotta go
and you hung up. And I'm there standing in the
bush with a phone in my hand and nobody to
talk to. And then I texted you. I said, dude,

(04:22):
you're killing me. What happened? And then the next thing
you texted to me was holy shit. Do you remember that?

Speaker 1 (04:30):
I might. I couldn't believe it. I was like it
was like entering in an outer body experience.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
I still didn't know what holy shit meant.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Yeah, I know. I didn't know what what to do.
I could not believe that it was happening and what
would happened.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
What was happening was that the company that we worked
for made changes around the country, right, and so DJ
Farne was affected here, as was Winnie. And you know,
they told us like these changes had to happen.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
They weren't.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
They didn't ask us, they didn't content and say like, hey,
is it okay? If it was like this has to happened.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
They didn't even wait till I got back from Africa.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
Right, And this affected so many people across the country.
It is so terrible and so sad, and you know,
there was really nothing that we could do. So our
hearts are broken. We're broken, are broken. All of a sudden,
one of the people on the show gone, yeah, just
like that. So then it was a weird week because
Billy was in Africa, right, So Mikey was covering Monday, Tuesday,
and Wednesday. He went away Thursday and Friday, so it

(05:24):
was just going to be Lisa, Winnie and I. But
then with the change Mikey did Wednesday, we didn't know
what to do. So we ran a best of Thursday
and Friday. We were off Monday, so you had several
days of people being like, wait, what's going on? Yeah,
you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
It was very the same thing because you told me
when I was in Africa. He said, oh yeah, we're
gonna do best jobs Thursday and Friday said what the hell?
You said, Holy shit? What happened?

Speaker 3 (05:46):
Yeah, it was. It was. It was crazy. So the
whole weekend we were off and we didn't know what
to do. We didn't know what it was going to
look like, what it was going to be. And basically,
you know, this is the way that I've learned, you've
worked in this business a long time. Is it works.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Is like people don't understand how we do feel upset
that we do the we do have feelings too. And
I said it on the air today and it's so true,
like people tune in, they know what's going on, they've
seen Winny's video, and then they tune in the hairs
laughing right, and they're like, look at these fucking monsters.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
But it's what we have to do. It's what we
do for a living, right.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
We can't talk about it the entire show. We addressed
it several times yesterday against a couple of times today.
We kind of throw it in when we can in
different hours so everybody can hear it now. You know,
when he posted the video was super emotional. I feel
for her. It's like, no, you never want to see
anybody lose their job, never, never, never, never, And yeah,
I don't really know what to say.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
I don't I get the anger, but I don't.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
Get directing it, directing it.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
At us so much. I get it, but you have
to look at our point of view and how we
feel about it. Yes, we're upset, but like we work
for a company, We work on a show and they say, hey,
we have to make this change and this is what
the show's going to be.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
And we're like, okay, yeah, you know, we don't have
any say no because the decision comes down from headquarters, correct,
from somebody we've likely never even met.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Right right, this is way above us.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Yeah, and the other part of the surprise. The running
joke in this business is that if you get called
into the office on a Friday, you're screwed. Yeah, that
didn't happen on a Friday, So another reason that we
didn't see it coming up on a Tuesday. Holy shit.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
I mean I was driving home like did this just happen?
Like what is going on? What are we going to do?

Speaker 1 (07:37):
So, yes, we've talked to Winnie. I remember I called
her as soon as she left.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
She came in. She was crying.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
It was like, very emotional. I said, I'll call you.
I called her. I talked to her. She kind of
you know, she wasn't crying as much. She's just like
this it is what it is, you know.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
I'm scared. I said, it's gonna be okay. And here's
the good news. The good news is that she wasn't fired. No, right,
it sucks, but she was basically laid off, so she's rehirable.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
She was told several times she's.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
Rehirable anywhere in the country and anywhere, you know what
I mean, when that time comes.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
So it's just really sad, man, and I lost so
many people listen to this after show, and so many
people are kind of coming at me being like, on
one side, God, you know, we feel for you, justin
like losing your partner essentially, and the other people are like,
you fucking monster, How the fuck couldn't you save her?

Speaker 3 (08:28):
You know what I mean? And I'm like, man, I'm
a little guy in the totem pole.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
Yeah, and let me ask you this, do you or
does anyone have any doubt that Winnie's gonna be fine? Oh?

Speaker 3 (08:40):
I was, Yeah. I was talking to some listeners last
night because I'll respond to people that don't yell at me,
even the something that yell at me, like, I'll respond
to And I'm like, who loves money more than Winny?
She is a hustler and she'll be okay. And you
know what, she might get picked up somewhere else in Boston,
possibly right here in town, right.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
Here in town. So I think Winnie's just going to
be just fine. But you know, I feel I put
myself in her shoes.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
Right.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
Think about it. You're on this show with these three
other people that you built this show with. Now all
of a sudden, you're sitting at home.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
Yeah, she started the show with us.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
Yeah, it's just really tough. She's been here for ten years.
She said that in the video. She's been here for
ten years. So we just wanted to come on and
explain kind of our side of the story. If you
still have anger, I'm sorry, as am I, but there's
three other people on this show, you know. So I
hate to be the one to say if the show

(09:32):
goes on, but like, think about what do we do?
Protest not show up to work. It's not going to
get us anywhere. It's not going to get us anywhere,
and it's not going to help Winnie. The most important
thing is that we still love Winnie. We still we
talk to Winnie. This is this, Yeah, that's that's how
it is. And Winnie, if you're listening to this, we
love you and don't worry. Someone will pick up your

(09:54):
fire cracker ass in two seconds.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
She's probably already signed a deal.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
Oh my god, I can only imagine you know her. Yeah,
she'll be she'll be just fine.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
So the after show, I wanted to continue, So maybe
maybe we could do something like rotating.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Yes, you could have me, you could have Lisa, you
could have producer Riley.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
So oh yeah, so I want to clear that up too,
so Producer Riley. So another thing that happened, Billy is
the we post videos right last week, and so videos
were posted of Mikey and Lisa and me, and Riley
was on the video not talking, but she was on
the video because it would cut to her when maybe
when she'd move. Producer Riley did not take Winnie's job,
per se. Producer Rally is running the board and helping

(10:34):
me and doing producing things. She does not talk. You know,
maybe if she has something to say, we'll throw her on.
But she didn't fill you know that job. Producer Riley's
very low. She's I've been in her position. She's working
her way up. Yeah, that's what she's doing. So shout
out to her. She is a hard workers. She shows up,
but she is not talking on the show. But yes,
maybe I'll have producer Riley on. Who else could i

(10:55):
have on from the building.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
From the building Ashley? Maybe like Ashley from Jamming.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
I don't know. I'm just trying to fight.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
Have Ashley on, Santy on who's funnier than him?

Speaker 3 (11:06):
Santy? Oh, Santy hired me and.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
Yeah, and they're in the company.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
So yeah, you know, I stopped pulling salespeople in.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
Oh god, yeah, I'll actually pulled the boss in Dylan.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
No he won't come on. No, no he doesn't.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
You know, he was a job.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
He was on the air. Yeah, yeah, he doesn't come on, though.
He explained it to me like this. He was on
in the nineties, maybe early two thousands, he said, but
he had to make a decision where he was going
to do one or the other. Yeah, on the air,
off the air, and he chose off the air.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
All Right, we got a lot of people in the building.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
So yeah, it'll be And I can't guarantee a five
day podcast. That's what Winnie and I were so good
at that, Winnie especially, you know why, because if we
did five days, there's.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
A bonus Winnie.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Drive.

Speaker 3 (11:51):
The bonus yeah, she's driven by the bonus.

Speaker 1 (11:53):
Hopefully she will get that bonus too, because you know,
even though she was let go, she did work.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
What month are we in ten?

Speaker 2 (12:00):
So we got to work on that. She's got to
get her bonus.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
I'll make sure. Don't don't worry. She'll be knocking down
my door for that. And if she doesn't get it,
she'll be knocking down your bill right now. Oh yeah,
there she is. But anyway, thank you everybody for listening,
and thank you for understanding. And if you're angry, it's okay.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (12:17):
And for the people that say, like I'm never listening
to that radio show again, we cannot make you listen.
But all we ask is that you give us a chance,
and that we're hurting too, is what we want to say. So, uh,
we'll talk again soon. Hopefully tomorrow. I'll see who I
can get to. Maybe I'll pull Brian, the sales guy.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Oh yeah, he jump on in a second.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
We got a band, you know, I know, I know
Brian who does sales. Hair. We had now Riley is
now that she's on the board, producer.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
Riley, she used.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
To get the guests, so now we don't have anybody
to get the guests. Billy sent Brian the sales guy,
to get Steve de Filippo from Dabio.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
Couldn't be happy to do it. Now. He's here at
three point thirty in the morning.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
He beats us in here, he gets here. He's an
early bird. So maybe something. No, no, no, no, he's working. Okay, yeah,
let me tell you. He is the He runs my
Power of Recovery account, right and I was talking to
him the other day and they go, he is so
on point. Yes, every day at six a m. They
have an email from Brian, an update on what they're doing,

(13:14):
the money they're spending, what it's doing on the air.

Speaker 1 (13:17):
All right, wait to go, Brian. All right, guys, we'll
talk again soon, hopefully tomorrow. And again, thank you, We
love you. And man, we're doing the app show again.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
This feels good. Thanks Bill.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
