Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's up everybody? It is the After Show and you
are listening to me justin. Welcome in. I hope your
weekend was fantastic. I believe we did have a podcast
on Friday. We did with producer Riley. Got my memories
like doing so many things at once.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
But we're back.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
I'm back on a Monday, and it's just me today,
just checking in Tuesday. Hi, don't want to leave you
hang in. I know some people use this podcast as
part of their routine, which I deeply, deeply appreciate. And
there's my wife texting me at this moment. Oh okay,
sorry to interrupt there, it's chicken stuff. Every time she
(00:37):
texts me, it's chicken stuff.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
I kid you not.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
And by the way, I did ask her if she
would come on the podcast, and she said she would
depending on her schedule. She has a tough schedule working
and she manages all these people.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
I really know what she does. She works in the
addiction field, but.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
I don't know exactly what she does as far as
the managing of the people.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
I think she manages other nurses.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Anyway, she just sent me a red shed seventy two
in solar white rooster statue with string lights. Okay, it
just keeps going. By the way, did you see my
Instagram yesterday? I caught a ring video of her with
the chickens, yelling at them for jumping up and trying
to bite her.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Hi, you gotta back it up, Dottie.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Yeah, that's Dottie do. She just jumped up to try
to get the food that she was holding. But it's
funny because I'll check the ring camera just randomly when
she goes in there. I see if I can catch
any content, and sometimes I do, And there was a
lot of content at my house this weekend. I don't
know if you follow my Instagram at just to be easy.
If you don't, you can go check it out. Though
you don't even have to follow. I don't even care
(01:41):
about that. But the nanny video, we were crying laughing.
So let me set this up. I get home from
work Friday and so my mother in law, Nannie, lives downstairs.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
I love her.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
She's crazy as ever, but she's just retired, so she's
home all day long, bored. You know, she's I think
she's u y has she got laid off from her
job of a long time, and she's right around that age.
I think she's like sixty three. So she got laid off,
and so I think she's collecting unemployment, and then I
think she's gonna go into retirement. I think that's what
(02:13):
it is. But she's home all day long and she's bored,
and so on Friday, she came upstairs and says to
Jen and I, I want to take the kids to
Great Wolf Lodge, which is a big swim park in Fitchburg.
I want to surprise them. We said okay, and I
was gonna stay behind because I had some to do
with the house.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
So she was gonna take Jen and the two kids.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
So she got the room and she wanted to surprise
them with a trip to Great Wolf Lodge, which they
would love. So she comes upstairs with the phone. I'm
laying on the couch half dead because it's Friday, and
you know the rule in my house don't talk to
dad on Fridays. So she comes up with the phone.
You know that, And you know how like older people
hold the iPhone when they're gonna do a video.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
It's like all weird.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
And random calls the kids and Able and Gemma and
has them stand in the living room to make her
big announcement, ask.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
You too, if you would like to come with me,
not to.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
Great Woods.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
We're leaving now. Ye oh no, Great Woods didn't close
thirty years ago, Daddy. Then you know what, it's great
Great Wolf Park Lodge. I was laughing so hard.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
If you did not see the video, their faces, it
was like all of the life was sucked from their face.
They were expecting something and they don't know what Great
Woods is. Obviously, Great Woods is the Expinity Center, which
used to it was Great Woods, then it was the
Tweeter Center, maybe something else in between, and then now
it's the Exfinity Center.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
But there she goes, Nannie, Great Woods.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
Oh my god. But anyway, they ended up going. They
had a great time. They were there Friday to Saturday.
And then if you if you get an overnight there,
you can stay in the water park all day long.
And so they were there all day Saturday, they came home,
and then yesterday Sunday I had people over for the game.
She still had the great Wolflage airs on, just living
(04:10):
it up at my house. Hilarious. But anyway, so that's
what I did this weekend. I was Friday to Saturday
was great. I was by myself. It was a nice
little break. I watched the Ed Sharon documentary, which was fantastic.
It's called One Shot. Make sure you check that out.
And then I watched all eight episodes of The Beast
in Me with Claire Danes on Netflix. Another fantastic show.
(04:32):
It's like a nail Bier thriller. I mean, Claire Danes
just plays that role of the manic like crazy person
so so well. And I don't know the actor's name,
but he was good too, but the Beast in Me.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Check it out. And then on Sunday I had football.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
I did some working out this weekend, so, you know,
pretty low key going into the short week, and obviously
Turkey Toss is Wednesday, and then we're off Thursday and
Friday and the rest of the weekend. So I'm looking
forward to that. Turkey Toss is gonna be good. I mean,
it's always a fun time. Looks like maybe rain I
don't know, we'll see. It's busy, man, We're coming to
the end of the year. We get all the year
(05:06):
end stuff, all the producing countdowns, and I don't know,
I guess that's where I really earned my paycheck. So
thank God for producer Riley helping me out. She is
a God send for real, Like behind the scenes, the
show does not operate without her. I mean she's really
picked up the slack and really has helped me tremendously.
I'm telling you, you want to produce a Riley in
(05:28):
your life. Like Billy always says, you need a Justin
in your life. I need a producer Riley in my life.
So and I want to give a shout out too.
She's actually sick. I'd bring her in, but she's sick.
I feel bad for her, the poor thing. She had
her first weekend shift. She's gonna be doing Saturday nights
nine pm to midnight. Now imagine this. This is a
really cool story. Like she starts on the street team,
(05:50):
she gets as a phone screener producer, and then obviously
there were changes on the show and she ends up
going into the studio.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Now she's running the board and running the behind the scene.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
Sometimes she's on the air once in a while off
like you know, if something she wants to say something,
or she has to add to a story, she'll come on.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
And then she was like, I want to be on
the air.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
So I was doing the five am pre show and
Saturday morning for years. That's how I got my foot
in the door. And so I offered them to her.
Talked to the boss. The boss is like, yeah, like
the way that she sounds. So she's been doing that
and then she's like, I want to do a weekend shift.
So she recorded the air checks and she emailed the
boss and said this is what I want to do.
(06:31):
The boss will listened to her one time and was like,
you're on. That's pretty good, man, that's pretty good. That's
good for her.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Man.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
You gotta hustle, You got to get you got to
get your thing, man, you know. And she doesn't make
a lot of money. So thank you to producer Riley.
There's my little spiel on her and she's my neighbor
right down the street in Salem, New Hampshire.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
What else, what else did I miss? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (06:53):
So short week, we come back for a week, then
it's chingle ball. Then we have a week and then
we're off the two weeks of Christmas, which god, I
cannot wait for.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
That is gonna be fantastic. I'll be ready to you know,
I'll be.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
Ready to come back into work after like two days
with my kids because they drive me nuts, but I
love them. I love them so much. So anyway, thank
you for listening. Tomorrow. I don't know what's gonna happen tomorrow.
I'm gonna do my best. I you know, I promised
all these guests and everything, and I just feel like
I kind of did it too soon with the end
of the year stuff, and you know, we've all these
(07:27):
meetings and bullshit that nobody cares about. But I promised
that stuff is coming. Like maybe it's after the new year.
I'll start to ram things up a bit. There are
people that I want to get into into here. There
are people hitting me up that want to come on
the podcast. So I believe I do have Nurse Fiona
coming in, though I think that's gonna be next week,
next Thursday.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
My girl, Nurse Fiona is gonna come in. I love her.
So anyway, that's it. Leave a talk back on the
iHeart app.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
If there's anything you want to hear, any guests that
you want to hear, Please don't leave talkbacks and say
I want to hear Maddie or I want to hear Winny,
because that joke is old.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
We got to move on, you know what.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
I mean, I did see Maddy posted though, Happy Birthday
to Marianne, which is nice. Nice to see Marianne down
in Florida. Nice to see Matty's face too. God, it's
been how long since Matt's been gone? Twenty twenty five,
twenty twenty two. Yeah, so a little a little bit
over three years. That's wild. You know, I don't know
(08:27):
there was all this controversy around Matt. Obviously, the whole
thing was like crazy, and you know, we've kind of
talked about it and gave details on it, I know
online because I don't read Reddit, but I have a
cousin that's like big on Reddit, and anytime the show
is mentioned, this is going back to Maddie and then
even to current days. He sends it to me. So
(08:48):
that's how I see it. And then I start reading
all the Reddit threads. That's where I've read, you know,
all like the crazy shit talking about me was on Reddit.
But if you go on there still to this day
is people asking like whatever happened with Maddie and stuff?
And I'm like, wow, it's these years later and these
people that just don't listen, you know, they probably didn't
even listen to Matt when he was on, but they
knew who he was. So people just don't know, you know,
(09:11):
and I don't know. The thing about Maddie is that
he's such a legend man. Like, you know, Maddie and
me were buddies, you know, I mean, we still buddies.
I mean, he calls me every once in a while,
We talked. He was up for over the summer. He
hit me up, he had a question about something. We were
shooting the shit for a while. There's no bad blood
between Maddie and I. I mean, he was nothing but
(09:32):
good to me.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
I love him. Obviously with other people that was a
big issue, longstanding.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
But as far as him retiring, you know, because sometimes
I'll see stuff online and just like you know, trashing
our show and stuff, which is is fine, Like I
understand all that, especially if you listen to a show
for so long, but I wish that what I could
say to people is you can never recreate that show.
You can never have another Matt Siegel, Like, the dude
(10:00):
was an absolute legend, funny, witty. I mean, look at
what he did. No one will ever do that again.
Number one in the same market for forty years. I mean,
it's insane. So it was such a huge blow and
such a huge loss when he retired and that was it.
And then the new show launched, and the Building Lisa
(10:20):
show is not the Maddie in the Morning Show. They
will that can't be so the fact that you look
at the new show and you're like, oh, this show sucks.
You know, it doesn't do this or it doesn't do that.
It was never going to be like that, you know
what I mean. It's a different show, and some people
like it and some people don't, and it is what
it is.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
You know, you like the new show, you don't.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
I think. I think we did a good job. You know,
it's not easy, man, This is not an easy thing.
It's not an easy thing to do every single day,
you know, to show up and entertain and be funny.
And Maddie was just so so good at it. Think
about that. He did no prep. Think about all the
prep that I do for the show. He did no prep.
He was just a natural. He could just turn on
(11:01):
the mic and he would find the joke. And a
lot of that joke was like Billy, like making fun
of Billy and like that stuff was hilarious. But Billy's
not Maddie and he never will be. Billy is Billy.
You know that's who Billy is. Billy does his thing
and we all do author our thing together. So happy
birthday to Marianne. I guess was what I'm saying. I
saw his post on Instagram, So everyone else, we will
(11:24):
talk very soon. Thank you for listening after show, Army,
and again, please leave it talk back. I want to
hear from you, guys. I want to hear what you
have to say if you have an opinion about something
that I talk about. If you have a question about
the show or about anything, I'll answer it. Just leave
it on the iHeart app. So love you guys.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
