(00:00):
I'm so excited this morning because Iget to talk to one of the people
who's going to be performing at theCohoes Music Hall this Saturday night. The
Sixties Show is back. This showis incredible, and joining me this morning
is the co founder, producer andmusical director of The sixty Show, Craig

(00:21):
O'Keefe. Morning Craig, Good morningJamie. No, it's my pleasure.
It's my pleasure to have you. This show is amazing. As I mentioned,
you are a co founder, soI'm going to bring it back.
But before I do, I wantto let everybody know the show is happening
this Saturday night at the Cohoes MusicHall. All right, you can get

(00:44):
tickets very simply. All you haveto do is go to the Cahoes Music
Hall dot org the Cohoes Musical dotorg. I've also got you linked up
on my page ninety eight three trydot com. Keyword morning. All right,
now that we've gotten that important stuffout of the way, Craig,
let me take it back. Allright. You are an amazing musician.

(01:07):
You have played with all kinds ofpeople. What made you decide and when
I I you know, like everythingfrom playing you know Smashing Pumpkins, an
Oasis, Sublime, Wheezerd. Thelist could go on and on and on.
What made you decide to go,Hey, I really want to put
on a show that showcases all ofthe great different music from the sixties.

(01:30):
Well, first of all, thankyou for the compliments. Always good to
get compliments in the morning. Iappreciate that, very nice of you.
But good questions. So yes,I was a recording and touring and musician,
wrote music, had record deals, did all that stuff for many years.
A lot of ups and downs,a lot of ups and downs.

(01:52):
But um with this. I decideda while ago I wanted to put together
a show I envisioned about the nineteensixties. And I'm a big nineteen sixties
kind of pop culture enthusiasts, reallyhave a great interest in not just the
music, but the historical you know, the pop culture, all the references,
all the things, and the sixtieswere are known about in any case,

(02:15):
So I put together I had anidea to put together this show,
and I had the idea, starteddoing it in LA and moved to New
York, audition hundreds of musicians, and there's been a few different versions of
the cast. We have an amazingcast now, which I like to say
is the final version and easier saidthan done. And that's how I put

(02:38):
it together. Wow, pretty amazing. And it sounds like just based on
how much effort and time you tookinto making sure you found the right people,
that the rest of your bandmates arealso as for lack of a better
word, as obsessed with the sixtiesand the details and the music of the

(02:59):
sixties as you are, exactly, and I thank you for bringing that up.
So when I auditioned all these musicians, I auditioned some major major players.
Your listeners know who these players are, and um, but I chose
people who are also the people Ihave now the cast member musicians are also

(03:20):
amazing players, but they also havea love and understanding of the nineteen sixties,
not just um again, the music, but you know what was?
What were the sixties about? Butwhen they play or when we're playing songs,
they know how to approach it.Why should we play it like this?
Is there? Who's the musician onthis? Who produced it? Why?

(03:42):
Why is this sound like this? How do you play it like this?
And when we play we play everythingnote for note just like the record,
And I want to be really clear, we're not if it's not like
the record, If it's not notefor note, we don't do it.
And we're not using any samples,no prerecorded music, no back and track,
just the six of us with ourtwo hands each playing these songs.

(04:04):
And again, the show is alsoabout not just recreating these songs, but
it's a show about time traveling backto the nineteen sixties, and we use
there's lots of historical videos and images, and there's a light show and the
images and videos we use. Idon't want to give it away too much
if any of your audience members haven'tseen us, but they pertain specifically to

(04:27):
that year of the song we're playing, or something about the song. There
are stage costumes that aren't cliche hippiedippie frat boy stuff, but it's legitimate,
like Carnegie street suits. We playonly the vintage instruments, the vintage
gear, We have stage props andlook like in nineteen sixties variety show.
There's narration involved and it's a highenergy, fast moving show too. So

(04:49):
that's kind of what your listeners shouldexpect if they if they choose to come
see us. Well, yeah,I really hope that you do. You
choose to go to the Sixties Show. I'm going to be there on Saturday
night. I really hope that you'llbe there as well, because as Craig
has been talking about this show, and again i'm speaking with Craig O'Keefe,

(05:10):
co founder, producer of the SixtiesShow, who we're going to see on
stage on Saturday night at the CohoesMusic Hall. It sounds incredible, man
if it feels like, just basedon listening to you talk like we're gonna
do like we're gonna enter the CohoesMusic Hall and basically go back in time
for an hour and a half twohours. Well, well, when you
enter the Cohoes Music Hall, Iwas only there once last time we played

(05:34):
you already are back, You're backin time maybe to the eighteen sixties.
Yeah, a great, very charming, very unique venue. And what's great
about this venue, Jamie's. Wenormally don't play places this small. We
play bigger theater, So this isa great place to catch this show at
a smaller a smaller venue. Soyeah, but like you said, it,

(05:57):
as soon as you walk into thetheater, and I don't want to
give it away it's you're already inthe vibe of you're back in the sixties,
and if the show starts, you'rereally going to be back in the
sixties. And I don't want togive it away. How we do that?
Wow? I cannot wait? Allright, the show is this Saturday
night at the Cohoes Music Hall. You'd still have time to get your tickets,
but get them fast. As Craigsaid, it's a smaller venue.

(06:21):
