Maine has a crazy law about clam chowder!

You gotta love the hootspa of Maine. You know, people
apparently throughout history. I mean you'll hear it now, Like
I don't think that that you can just do stuff
like that, but you know, whoever's in charge can just
throw it, just.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Throw it on the wall and see if it sticks.
Maine made it illegal to put tomatoes in clam chowder
in nineteen thirty nine.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
I think that was the right move. They made it illegal.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
It's not an official law anymore because probably someone went over,
so it's not on the books anymore as an official law.
But they will still shame tomato chowder fans.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
But isn't Manhattan clam chowdered tomato based?

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Well maybe that's how it became a Manhattan thing, because
Maine was like, get it out of here, gotcha?

Speaker 1 (00:51):

And I don't think that they belong in a clam chowder. Well,
no one's always people are always gonna pick regular clam
chowder over Manhattan clam chowder, are they?

Speaker 1 (01:01):
I like a Manhattan clam chowder because it's spicy, you
know what I to be honest, and I like New
England because it's creamy. I like them both.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
I have to take myself out of the conversation, even
though I had a strong opinion, because I'm not eating.
