Speaker 1 (00:00):
You know that pretty much. I live next to a Kroger,
so I'm in there like every other day and between,
you know, whether it's a prescription or just my foods,
I'm always in Kroger.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
I'm pretty much in Microger every day too.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Yeah, and then like every couple of weeks. You know,
there's a couple of things that like I'll go to
like a cost Go for well because.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
You need forty rolls of toilet paper at one time, right, Also.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
The electronics I like to go. I like to go
to Costco for like, oh there's a so no speaker here,
that's reasonable, Like I like that stuff too. So anyway,
some people loved it, and some people just like to
go for the samples. But there's a couple of little
known things about Costco that are secret that people don't know,
and I read them and I was fascinated. I thought

(00:43):
we would share for you Costco people. Number One, you
don't actually need a Costco membership to go there. If
you know a member, they can purchase a Costco cash
card on your behalf, which you can use at your leisure,
so I can get you. Are you a costcomember, Chelsea?

Speaker 2 (01:00):
My parents are so I'll just go with them if
I ever need any then.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
But if we wanted Alison to go because she wanted
to stock up on like I don't know, coffee cups,
you know, by the hundreds, we get you a car
to gift card and then you can say, well, I've
got this card and you don't have to have a membership.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Okay, cool, Well.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
That is kind of cool, but at the same point,
you still need an in well, you still need it,
I think so.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Yeah, there's a rotissarie chicken that they do there. It
has its own fan page. The company moves one hundred
and fifty seven thousand whole birds every single day, estimating
they lose thirty to forty million a year by sticking
to the price of four dollars and ninety nine cents.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
For these entire chickens.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
People love the rotissary chicken there, and they know they're
losing money, but they don't want to go from the
four dollars in ninety I mean, think about it. I
appreciate that your family has for dinner four ninety nine
for a fully cooked rotissari chickens.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Pretty good.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
That's huge, and they may not be losing money because
if they're getting you in there to buy the chicken.
You may pick up something else while you're there, of course,
you know, for going to Costco for just one thing.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Right, there is a Costco store that has a horse
and buggy parking lot for the for the Amish.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Is it amish amah Amish? So this is in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
And I wish I would have known about this sooner
because I have a friend who's a travel nurse and
she's there right now, but she's leaving on Friday for good.
She took that picture of her.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
I know.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
They consider shopping to be a treasure hunt. The company
regularly relocates things like toiletries, light bulbs, and other frequently
replenished items so the customer will search for them and
see a new area of the store.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Well that's smart, that's smart marketing.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
And how about but also what I mean? They are
America's biggest car dealer. They've moved nearly six hundred and
fifty thousand cars in twenty eighteen, making it the nation's
biggest car dealer. Because you could buy a car there,
you could buy.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
A coffin a coffin there, I know, yeah, you know,
it's funny.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
You know. I love Modern Family And there's an episode
of Modern Family where Cam is trying to get Mitch
to go into Costco to buy diapers and being snoppy
about it. Yeah, He's like, I don't want to go
into Costco to buy diapers, and he winds up going
in the store and he sees this printer that he's
always wanted, and finally he just looks at him and
he goes, what is this place? Like, there's everything right right?

Speaker 1 (03:14):
So there you go, you Costco shoppers. Some little known
facts for you
