Everyone Knows A Name Dropper

I walked in this morning, I heard Alison and Chelsea
kind of talking about someone we work with or was
it somebody we work with?

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Yeah, you know, you know how people name drop, but
it's a name everybody knows.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
You know, someone that's like you name drop because you're
trying to brag.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
So this is a person we know who name drops
personal friends of theirs who we've never met in our lives. Yeah,
and kind of almost waits for you to be impressed,
and right, I don't.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Know who they are. I don't know who they are.

Speaker 4 (00:31):
Like says so I went to the movies with Madison
and Jessica and Jacob and and it's like that has
nothing to do with this story.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
I don't know who any of those people are.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
And she'll drop them in again later multiple and almost
wait for you to be like, No, not Madison and Jessica.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Jacob, And this is like these people that she talks
about are of No.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
They don't tell us not relative to the story, okay,
and really don't impress us much. No.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
I used to get annoyed in school.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
I don't like when I was in even at a
young age, things annoyed me, like even like in like
first grade, second grade, Like there was a girl that
wouldn't say my mother when referring to her in class. Now,
the fact that I can still remember this shows how
nuts I am.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Yeah, and how much it bothered you.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Bothered me tremendously, But I didn't have what I have
now to be able to address it.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
So she has.

So she would say things like, you know, imagine a
bunch of second grader's talking and then she's like, well,
mommy says that I'm not allowed to blah blah blah, and.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
I'm like call them mommy or dad.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
You mean your mother, right, you know, like it's not
not my Mommy sures.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Like that would annoy me, but I do.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
I'm with you, like I hate when you step into
a conversation and people reference names and don't put it
what is it a preface?

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Like right?

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Well, and even as like you know, we're journalists in
a way, and sure it's like in a story, you
have to set up who be Simpson is because if all.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Of a sudden you're reading it and all.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
The you know, you're backtracking paragraphs like wait, did they
introduce B.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Simpson?

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Because I don't you can't just you know you have.
It has to be part of the you know, Uh,
it has to pertain to the story. You can't just
throw it in there and expect everybody to know what
you're talking about.

Speaker 1 (02:22):

I also get I also get bothered by when people
address their spouse again that you've never met or never heard.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
About, right, Like, Hi, I'm Jay, Hi, I'm Fred, Hi Fred?

Uh? Melinda and I spend some time, uh, and I'm like,
I don't know.

Is that your wife daughter? Right? And when people assume
you know the names of.

Everyone, they know something you know what bothers me. I
have a friend, She's been my best friend forever. I
know her family very well. They're a second family to me.
Instead of calling her brother by his name, which I
do know, she'll say my little brother, and I'm like,
we are almost thirty. He's not far behind. You don't

Kind of along the lines, I don't even know if
it's like relative to this particular conversation, but along the
lines of what Chelsea said. When me and my sister
are talking and my mom comes up, she says, my
mother and I was like our mother. She always says
my mother, and I'm like our mother, and I.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Was here first.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
That's like listening to who's on first, right back and
forth for hours.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
