Speaker 1 (00:00):
Feeling good in the d on one hundred point three
w and I see this morning. My uh, it's never
easy for me feeling good in these project by Planet Fitness.
There you go. How about this? A woman who could
not swim sprang into action to save an eleven year
old girl who was drowning at a park in Florida.

(00:22):
The girl was collecting shells and accidentally slipped into the water.
Now the girl's autistic Bridget Addison, saw her ran in.
She was able to pull the girl to the embankment.
This happened earlier this month, and now they're reunited through
a local news report. Bridget says she doesn't consider herself
a hero, but believes that if you see someone in distress,
you help them. And again, this is a woman who's like,
I can't swim, but I also cannot let an eleven

(00:43):
year old yeah drown.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Well that's that thing that happens to you when it's
like people that run it akes over. Yeah, a building's
burning and you run into it.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
You also can't withstand fire.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
But someone's in there and they're gonna die, So someone's
got to do something.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
By the way, I also think, and this is not
a knock to anybody. But if you're an adult and
you can't swim, like that's insane, you have to. I mean,
I'm not saying you have to be an Olympic swimmer, yeah,
but you have to. You have to be able to
get in a pool and at least kick your life.
I mean, you just got to kick your legs and arms.
I know it sounds it is easy. I think. I
don't know, but for whatever reason, if you're somebody that

(01:18):
says I can't swim, I think you should at least
know how to save yourself swim. Right. No, it's funny that.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
You say that because over the weekend I was picking
up some subs in ann Arbor and there was a
little swim school in the strip mall next to it. Yeah,
And I mean, I grew up on the water my
whole life, so it's easy for me to say. I mean,
I was thrown into water before I was a year old.
But all I think all little kids should should have
should like and the fact that there's little swim schools everywhere.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Without a doubt. Yeah, but I'm saying like as an adult,
like I mean.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Yeah, ideally seeing with like.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
Knowing CPR and stuff. I think those are things you
got you never know.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Yeah, and like you said, it's just moving your legs
and arms.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
It's not right man. We're joined by Fox two meteorologists
Alan long Street. Alan, good morning, Yeah, good morning, Hello Hello,

away yesterday and it was nice enough to do a
little neighborhood walk.

walked around. You know. He's mister fitness.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Now, yeah, jogging nice. He does a little marathon. You
and Amy could do a dual marathon.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
I'm not doing a maratha.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
Thinking that maybe he can be on your next get Fits.
I would love it. I would love nothing more. You
know what we need to do when you to do

Detroit all these different places and it's a it's a

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Seven hours of work out between you.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Get to drink beer in between, wouldn't but you do
you jelse? Okay, thank you? Yeah, So that's that.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
If we're gonna do some tailgating on Sunday for the Lions.
How are we looking this weekend? Perfect?

Speaker 3 (03:07):
I mean, I mean, look, if you want the fall field,
no sorry, but we're like eighty Saturday and Sunday, comfortable
nights and no rain. So we got another drive stretch
of weather probably no rain until I mean next weekend maybe.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
So it's a while all right, very good looking forward
to a down Long Street. And by the way, check
out Allen's video where he scares Derek. It's so funny.
It's on their social with the Weather Boys. And I
also watched yesterday a bit of your interview with Dave
Quiet's wife, Melissa. Melissa, who was so nice and what
an amazing story about her, and she's turned his life

(03:38):
around and her life around and thinking of food in
different ways and all that.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
The thing I loved most about her was her willingness.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
We didn't know her, me and Derek.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
I met her for five minutes, but her willingness to
jump in and bully Derek with me. I was so
so pleased. Is awesome, Derek, What a nice peach you
had to come in

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
