Fox 2 News Headlines: Moldy A/C Units?

There's a recall on window A/C units which unlocked one of Jay's childhood memories.

A couple of Fox News headlines today things going on

as the summer heat returns. There's a nationwide recall for
one point seven million window air conditioning units. The affected
models are the Media U AM I saying the right
media and Media MIDI, m ID, Media MEDIAU and Media
U plus. The company says the units can unintentionally collect
and spread mold into the air. That's not good. When

I was a kid on Coolie Avenue in New Jersey,
our house was I don't know, a little, probably the
size of the studio and the other two and that
was it. Yeah, And I remember, and we didn't have
air conditioning, but where there's a there was one window
air conditioner. My parents in.

Their bedroom very hot.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
And my brother and I were wheezing and dying. Yeah,
at at one hundred and seven record degrees in New Jersey,
we were allowed to get our sleeping bags and sleep
on the floor of our parents' bedroom because they had
air conditioning. Yeah, that was it.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
I think it's funny that the window unit wasn't like
in the living room to cool down the whole house.

But that was.

Normal anybody that had that situation. It was always in
the parents' bedroom.

Yeah, always, always, yeah, And it was always and it
was so and it was always like, it's so hot,
can't we just all go in to mom and Dad's
room because it was it was the only place that
there was air conditioning and it was only on at night.

I made her feel guilty for something the other day too.
I said something, Oh oh yeah, my dad was trying
to fix that. Remember do you remember alson? Remember they're

Yeah, you know what I'm talking about. It's like square, yeah,
and it makes that noise. It's on a stick and

but there's no electricity to it. It's just like it's

right right. And I and I said to my mom
just the other day, I'm like, oh, yeah, I remember
wanting to desperately use the vacuum and I was, you said,
I wasn't old enough, so I had to use that
stupid thing to picked up nothing. She's like, who remember

Knew I was so traumatized, always complaining.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan has laid off at
least two hundred and twenty non union employees and eliminated
more than four hundred open positions. The company is trying
to cut two hundred and eighty five million dollars in
costs due to rising medical expenses. Over five hundred employees
also took voluntary buyouts earlier this year. I don't like
that now. I think that's because you know, when we're
down at Hollywood, CAAs you know, Greek Town, we see

the gigantic Blue Cross Blue Shield building right there.

Well, also, I mean that's what you that's who you know.
I mean, there's lots of different insurances, but I mean
that's the one you.

Curious as to why people need to cut costs. Is
it so that you just don't have to trickle it
down or is it just right so is it saying
you can get a big bonus. That's what I'm That's
what I always wonder. I'm like, because I feel I
have Blue Cross Blue Shield. I mean I feel like
you should be doing okay, Yeah, and I feel like
being really rich is good enough. Well, and I also
feel like and I'm not talking about them, I'm just saying,

this is a story that happens with lots of in
every industry and you don't know, like what is the reason,
because you shouldn't be struggling.
