Speaker 1 (00:00):
This story. This story blew me away when I read
it this morning. You know, people put these things up
on Reddit. You just read it. I don't.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
It's very upsetting to me because when I'll Google a
story that I want to read, sometimes redd it's the
only place.
Speaker 3 (00:13):
But you can't.
Speaker 4 (00:14):
You have to install the app. You can't really see things.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
You have an account, right, it sounds you can just
openly search.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Yeah, and then when you finally can kind of get
in there, it's just a bunch of people talking about stuff,
and I'm like, well, I don't really care about your opinion.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
How do you find what you're looking for? Like, what's
of interest to you? Like the only reason that I'm
ever on Reddit is because I type something into Google
and it.
Speaker 4 (00:34):
Immediately comes out there, not just.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Going to the website and like, oh, I'm going to
browse it like tmz.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
This was allegedly a gen zer who works at an
AI startup company, but she wrote to her boss saying,
I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the work. My
energy feels a little off, so I'm not getting that vibe.
So she said she'd be out July twenty eighth to
the thirtieth and it ended with we'll talk soon, And
by the twenty eighth was a Monday, so she basically
(01:02):
took a super long weekend. Is my energy feels off?
A valid reason for taking off? One other thing, she
is an intern. She's an intern at a startup, but
still like, I mean, an internship used to be like
this is my foot in the door.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
One hundred percent used to be that.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
I mean a lot of people that have major careers
in our field interns. Yeah, I'm torn because on one hand,
I'm like, you really could have just had a cold
and this would have been a lot easier, but she
just went the straight I'm not feeling it.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
Yeah, I'm not getting the work vibe right now.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Is that because and this isn't a slam, This is good,
But like people like Sean Mendez or Lewis Capaldi, they're
very outspoken about and other people that I'm.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
Not their mental health hell for them.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Yeah, so they're seeing that and they're like, so we
can just say that and you I mean and in
a way like what you're saying right and good?
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Yeah, I mean I could see maybe, Yeah, I listen.
There are certainly days we get up more like eh,
I feel like doing this today.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Burnout's real and everyone needs some time off. With that said,
I think as an intern, you're not really afforded that luxury,
Like you're not even in the real world yet. So
I think that that's just a bad move. I mean,
I mean, yeah, I think it's a separate issue.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
It's not so much what she said or why she's
doing it. It's that generation of they don't I mean
I used to see it with our interns, like on
day two, don't get to be on the radio yet, Yes,
Like you may never get to be on the radio.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
What you want to do is prove yourself and hustle
around here and then we're gonna want to do that
burn out. Yeah, but I don't know.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
It might have been a mistake to go to everyone's
softball game. My mom missed all of volleyball. She was like,
you know how parents have to go to every game
like kids think everything like it's gentle parents.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
Everything I do is special? Are you not? You know
what I mean?
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Yeah? I don't know. I think you're onto something with
saying about like you mentioned some of the artists and
stuff that had been vocal about it, which is which
is a real thing. But but again, I think we
were all in a position and at some point where
you almost feel like you need to lie over that,
like you'd lie, you'd say, like you said, I don't
feel well or something. But it simply like everybody feels
(03:25):
okay with just saying, hey man, my energy is not
right today, I'm out.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
Well, that's why I want to give her credit.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
Yeah, because I would feel the need to like And
that's the thing too, you had well I don't know
about interns, but we have sick days, but you can't
use them unless you're sick, and you can't use them
in advance because you have to be sick. I think
we also have a hard time wrapping our head around
just calling out because we don't have jobs we're calling
out is really easy. What's going to happen if one
(03:52):
of us calls out? Like figuring out how show on
the air? Now?
Speaker 1 (03:56):
I always removed us from the real world because we
don't have real life. If this one out the world.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
If we had office jobs, though, maybe it would start
calling out a little bit more.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
Yeah, I guess, I guess the questions are you good
at using that excuse?
Speaker 4 (04:09):
Are you?
Speaker 1 (04:09):
Are you okay? With I mean maybe it's I don't know,
maybe the boss, like because it's very transparent, it's like, hey,
Alicia told me the truth. The truth is good.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
I guess if.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Because there's a heavy workload.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
Taken out of that statement.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Yeah, these vibes would be off every day then if
that's all right, well there you go. Let us know.
We'll pop that up on social media too. Curious you
know your thoughts
