Speaker 1 (00:00):
What a weekend in Detroit. We'll start with this Friday night,
three sold out shows of the Terrifier. Terrifier three with
Damian Leoni, the director, and David Howard Thornton, who plays
Art the clown Big Q and A's so much fun.
They stop by the TV. They were teas. They were
on with us at Fox two.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Yeah, you spent the weekend with them.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
I that the pictures you posted from Friday night. Yeah,
the crowd behind you.

Speaker 4 (00:27):
I was like, Wow, right.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
I'm gonna play this little quick minute bontage here of
kind of some things here. Congratulations. Talk about a success
story for this film. Thank you for all the films,
but this one is wow. Yeah, it's been a long journey.
People think it's sort of an overnight success.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Yeah. So you know, I created this character back in
two thousand and six.

Speaker 5 (00:47):
It's been in two short films, then in anthology, and
now this is the third movie.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
And it's certainly reached the highest level of popularity with
this one. David, how do you feel about that? You disagree? No,
I don't disagree.

Speaker 5 (01:01):
Now. I think he's gotten pretty popular all of a sudden,
but I know that even happened before Part three came
out like this summer there was he kind of exploded
on TikTok, yeah, which I'm not even on, but everybody
was like, oh my god, you're all over the place
on TikTok.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
I'm like, are you kidding me?

Speaker 5 (01:14):
This is insane, Like millions upon millions of views, pretty
girls walk like peace.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Is there anything you couldn't accomplish in this film that
you said, You know, if we just had an extra
papa million, we could.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Have done this.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
No.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
Oddly enough, no matter what the budget is, we figure
out a way to make the script come to life.

Speaker 5 (01:33):
Yeah, So regardless of limitations, there's some wonderful ingenuity with
my cast and crew.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
We'll always figure out a way. Let's lease welcome. Hey,
what about Carolina put Yeah, it was big, It was

(01:58):
absolutely big.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
And that was Friday night. Saturday was huge with the
people that came up for the photo op. That's what
we were there for.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
Saturday was Saturday. They did four hundred groups of people.
Four hundred groups came up to get a picture with David.
Four hundred groups, yeah, four hundred groups. Crazy, Yeah, to
get a picture with David as as art the clown.
But in the Santa Suit Art the clown, because that's
how this new terrifying movie takes place at Christmas, which

(02:30):
is absolutely like beyond rateed are but U and David
and Damien's the director, And they stood there and they
did pictures, which was really awesome, and you guys came.
I was so glad you were there.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Yeah, And I would have stayed longer, but I literally
started to feel like I was in the way because
I was.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
We all were, and I was hanging.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Out with Linda, who is a delight Yeah, and I
learned so much about like inside jokes in this new movie. Yeah,
and is Bob's wife, and Bob is the manager of
these guys, and so she was telling me like what
some of the one liners in the movie meant, like
the backstory on them. And at one point I was

(03:10):
monopolizing her time and she's like, all right, well I
gotta go, and I so I kept.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
Like you just feel I kept back and away, I kept.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Backing up against the wall, and I was like, you
know what, I could just remove myself from here and
then that would make it easier for everybody. But it
was so crazy, and one thing Linda and I were
talking about was the night before in the screening of
the movie. I think somebody in the Q and A
or maybe it was just amongst each other, but there
were kids like little and even at the photo op.

(03:38):
I mean we were seeing like baby year old and babies.
And I said to Linda, I go, I kind of
want to judge. And then I remember my mom took
me to the Prophecy slash Phantasm double feature when I
was eight.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
Sure there you go.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Yeah, I really have no legs here.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Kids, as you know, and this is pretend, you know,
as the family.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Just sensitize them, so you don't get Chelsea's that's right.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
But Chelsea, you know, Chelsea made an interesting comment to
me just about and you know, listen, people always say
to me, your anchor in the news, you're doing radio,
what do you do all this comic concept for these
hard things for And I always say, and god, Chelsea,
you said it that you were you were surprised by
the crowd.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
You really can't judge a book by its cover. I mean,
these people were all in in their gear and their costumes,
and you know, you just might have one opinion when
you're just looking at them. They were the nicest people. Ever,
so I was I was helping out during the photo
op to watch everyone's purses and bags so that they

(04:40):
and coats and stuff so that they didn't have to
walk up with them. And you know, as I was
telling people like yeah, I'm gonna be at the table,
you know your purse is gonna be fine, they were
just so kind and everyone was so excited and it
was really fun, like watching everyone after they got their
photo taken and like, oh my god, I touched Art

(05:01):
the Clown or oh, that was the coolest two seconds
of my life. I mean, they loved it.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
And it's cool to be in the on the ground floor,
which it's blowing up. It's not as much if for
the first one. Or there was a woman who lives
in Lavonia and she traveled to Louisville for the first
comic con where Art the Clown was. Linda was telling
me this backstory, like when no one knew about this
movie the first Terrifier came out, and how Damien only

(05:28):
made like ninety dollars that day because nobody knew it
was gonna blow up. It's also kind of fun to
be in on the ground floor of this horror icon
that's gonna sure it doesn't already, will you know, join
the likes of Freddy and Jason Damien.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
When Damien was making the second This is the third movie.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
When he was making the second movie, he was still
delivering flowers during the day.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
The director.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
The reason the effects look so good in the second
movie was because pandemic was here. So he spent that
entire year doing the practical effects. But by hand, I
mean he he applied his art, the clowns, makeup, and
does all that himself, and he directs himself, He edits himself,
He does everything.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
It's a really cool story.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
It is.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
They're good guys and because of that event, and because
of them doing what they did, we were able to raise.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
Just just skimming a little off the.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Top, we were able to raise five thousand dollars for
Jays Juniors.

Speaker 4 (06:20):
Which is really nice that they see how much that
will mean to our charity.

Speaker 5 (06:27):
You know.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Oh they did.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
And by the way, as a little thank you for
putting the whole thing together for me, they gave me
at the end of the day, David's.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
Prosthetic that they gave that to you.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
Yeah, it peeled it off his face and it was
in rough shape, but then it forms, it gets its
its shape back. It's pretty cool to have that, yeah,
because that's you know, it's made by them and that's
what they do. So thank you to Damian and thank
you to David and you can check that out on
social media.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
And thanks for helping Jays Juniors. Very very nice of you.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
And thank you for everybody, and thank you to Imagine Imagine,
my God, Imagine for doing this unbelievable event for us.
And thank you to first Class Theedan's Art for doing
all the driving. And thanks to Hollywood Consino a Greek
driving driver, and Hollywood Casino a Greek town, and Courtney
and everybody over there for hooking a nice meal and
rooms for everybody. Uh knowing that you know, we get

(07:20):
a little money for charity, so that was nice for
everybody's partake.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
Thank you
