The Trades Christmas Station one hundred point three w n
C with Jay Towers, Allison Chelsea. Welcome to Monday. It
is time once again for Jays Juniors.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Hello, Hello, Jen, Yes.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Hi's Shy Towers wn i C with Alison and Chelsea.
How are you?
Speaker 3 (00:18):
I'm good? How are you?
Speaker 1 (00:19):
Do you have a few minutes we could chat? Yes,
it's that time of year where we're going through Jay's
junior's applications and we wanted to ask you about Eleanor
and see if you might be willing to tell us
her story.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Eleanor is my three almost four year old. She was
born with Down syndrome and a general.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
Little heart effect.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
She is a delight, the light of our family. She
is soul, full of energy and just I know there's
something stressful about her. She is constantly reminded me that
there are good things in the world. She works is
(01:02):
very hard to do the things that she's doing.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
I have to remind myself of this all the.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Time, that when she's climbing at the playground, that it's
taking her twice as long as her older siblings to
learn to do those things, but also the energy to
do those things right.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
The desire.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
She has the desire, Oh my gosh, she wants to be.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
Like her big brother and sister, and she chases after.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Them and crashes at the end of the day because
she works.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
So hard at it. I think that that's why she has.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Overcome so many of the hurdles that she has just
wanting to be be them.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
And what kind of setbacks does she experience from that
doesn't sound like many.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Well, I mean she fights for those things, right. So
she spent the first six weeks of her life in
the hospital.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Because of her heart effect. Normally they don't operate. They don't.
She had a VSD, several VSDs, and then an AfD,
and they try to wait as long as possible to
operate on them because.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
They're so tiny. But she struggled.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
With breathing and rapid heart which caused her to have difficulties.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
Eating when she was first born, and so at three.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Weeks old, we were transferred from the Nick You and
Troy to the Nick You at Children's because her kidneys
were having some difficulties, and the heart doctor there said,
let's take her heart out of the equation and see
if we can get her eating. If you fix her
heart and so at four weeks old, they prepared the
(02:30):
VSD and the ASD and she was able to come
home two weeks later from the hospital with that and
has worked hard to learn to you know, learn how
to drink a bottle.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
Is growing.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
She goes to PT and OT and speech. Until recently
she was pretty non verbal, but she suddenly has a
plethora of words. And think that from all the hard
work she's been doing in speech, ye want her to.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Be the best she can be, you know. I see
she's a really big fan of blue, and I got
to say I'm a big fan of blue as well. Yes, Blue,
she loves bluey and Encanto was another favorite of hers,
but blue, for sure. We watch a lot of blue,
we play with the toys. That's one of her clearest
words is bluey.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
Oh well, maybe we can get her to say Disney.
We'd love to take you guys to Disney World with
us for our tenth year for Jay's Juniors.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
