health challenge.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
That's what happened with Lindsay.
Speaker 5 (02:03):
And we're going to hear the story about her son, Jacob,
about her husband, about our family, and you'll quickly see
why we feel a Jays Junior's trip is perfect for
this family.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
Hello, Hi, Lindsey.
Speaker 5 (02:21):
Yeah, Hello, it's Jay Towers with Alison and Chelsea at WNIC.
Speaker 6 (02:25):
Hi, good morning. What are you doing nothing?
Speaker 7 (02:29):
Just working?
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Are you in the thicke of things? Are we allowed
to take you away from work for a few minutes?
Speaker 6 (02:33):
Yeah, that's no problem.
Speaker 5 (02:35):
Well, we don't want to keep you from work too long.
I just wanted to ask you a couple of questions
about Jacob. I know he's had an extensive past here
at seven years old and a big story.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
Can you just tell us some more?
Speaker 7 (02:47):
So?
Speaker 6 (02:47):
He's going to be eight years old in a couple
of weeks, and he was born with Down syndrome in
too heart defects, excuse me, and he is just he's
a happy, happy boy. That he is non verbal, but
he has his way of expressing himself to people in
other ways with hugs and smiles, and he can tell
you what he wants by pointing you're showing you. And
(03:10):
he just had a long journey. We have the autism
diagnosis as well, and so he has both the dual
diagnosis of Down syndrome and autism. And then the diagnosis
Celiacs is something recently Celiac disease. We are getting we're
trucking through that journey right now.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
There's like there's like ten things here. I'm looking over it.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
I'm reading each one and I'm like, jeez, could Jacob
have like one more thing to deal with?
Speaker 6 (03:39):
I know that's how we feel at times. It's it's hard,
and my husband always said, you know, we just have
to take it one day at a time, So that's
what helps get me through it. But yes, it's a
lot to take in.
Speaker 7 (03:51):
And we have a really good.
Speaker 6 (03:52):
Support system, Like our family has been there for us
day one, so we are just really lucky. My mom's
that my rock. Sorry, sorry you emotional talking about it.
My mom's been my rock since day one. She came
with me to all my doctor applants when I was
pregnant with Jacob because my husband couldn't take off all
that work. And then when he was born, he had
(04:15):
to go to the doctors once a week so weight
checks because of his two heart defects, he wasn't gaining
enough weight and they were worried about failure to thrive.
So my mom was there for me, like at every
single doctor appointment. So I don't know what I would
do without her, But yeah, it's been a long journey,
but we try to see positive because that's what gets
(04:35):
us through it. We don't want Jacob to feel that
negative energy either.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
And not only has he had his health issues, but
your husband has as well.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
Right.
Speaker 6 (04:46):
Yes, he had a massive esteemic stroke two years ago
on our wedding anniversary.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Oh my god.
Speaker 6 (04:52):
And they didn't think it was a stroke at first.
They're like, you know what, he's only thirty eight years old.
We think it's just vertigo work. I just and so
the initial set scan did not show a stroke because
those show bleeds, and this was an a scheme of stroke,
which is a clot in the cerebellum. So they said
he needs an MRI to rule out any other neurological conditions.
(05:14):
They ruled out anything else.
Speaker 7 (05:16):
But just this stroke.
Speaker 6 (05:18):
So he had this stroke and then he has some
brain swelling. It was close to having a craniotomy. They
looked at me and said, we'll do everything they can
to save your husband's life.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Oh my god.
Speaker 5 (05:29):
How has that affected him just day to day even
now like today.
Speaker 6 (05:32):
So he can't go back to work because he was
a truck He drove a semi truck and delivered locally
for a company and he has like permanent vertigo. Anytime
he ends over to pick something up, stands up, he
gets really like how he can still function and he
can talk. It didn't affect those type of things, but
right now it's his vertigo dizziness that has taken a
(05:55):
toll at his mental health. Definitely, because he was a breadwinner.
He brought in all the money, like he made more
money to me. He contributed, and now he can't. So
he's so defeated. But I try to lift his spirits
as best as I can and just tell him, you.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
Know, we got this, Lindsey.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
Just tell him to be an influencer slash podcaster.
Speaker 6 (06:19):
That's a great idea.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
He can do it from home. That's just what you.
Speaker 6 (06:23):
Need in the house, Lindy, exactly right.
Speaker 5 (06:27):
