Speaker 1 (00:00):
Getting ready for Thanksgiving tomorrow. We're at fifty degrees. It's
(00:02):
going to get colder, but the warm part of your life.
Little Jays Junior's trip next week starting on Tuesday, and
it's time for another call. Hello Robert, Yes, Hey, Shay
Towers at wni C. How are you?
Speaker 2 (00:16):
How you doing?
Speaker 1 (00:16):
I'm doing good. I'm here with Allison and Chelsea from
the Morning Show. Great. Hi Robert, Hi, Robert, Hi, how
are you good? We want to talk about Sullivan. I
know he was born prematurely, right, Yeah, he was born
at thirty weeks old.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
He spent three months in the nick you down at
Children's Hospital?
Speaker 1 (00:37):
And is he going to need hip surgery at some
point here? And I know he uses braces in a wheelchair, right, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
He's in a wheelchair. He has his own special wheelchair.
He does have braces. We're actually waiting for his new
set to come in. And yeah, he has to have
hip surgery. They're thinking that it's gonna actually be like
a double hip surgery because the left side has pulled
out forty three degrees right side. They want to do
the same surgery so it doesn't happen. And then also
(01:05):
he has to have his hamstrings cut and his achilles
tendons to reset the muscles because right now his legs
are just completely wonky. I guess as you would put it.
And then the hip surgery. I think they said they
want to do it around May, closer to his fourth birthday.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
So when he was born at thirty weeks, how many
weeks did he spend in the.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Nikio he was in there for I think it was
twelve weeks.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
The first week he was there, he was in that
little incubator like the toaster thing. He had the roovy
belling lights on him, you know, like the blue and
yellow lights. Yeah, on a breathing machine. For the first
month and a half he was there, he had a
feeding tube. That's the only way he could eat. Wow.
And he's still you know, his failure to thrive and
wait because of the surrebl pals he has. I mean,
(01:52):
he's three years old and he weighs twenty three pounds.
He has the cognitive of I want to say, like
a one year old. And then also the day care
he is in is a special needs daycare. Every child
she has has some sort of disability, so you know,
it really helps with Sullivan interacting with them because they're
all different. Yeah, you know, like I said, every day
(02:12):
it's just a challenge for him and his life's going
to be a rollercoaster. And you know, I heard about
your Guys program and obviously you know what I by
any means will not have I guess you would say
the funds to be able to, you know, have a
great vacation for him. But you know it's I was like,
you know what I'm gonna try. It would rock his world,
I guess you would put it.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
This little guy's been struggling since he literally hit the air,
so it sounds like he is due for happy memories.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
You know. The reason he came so early is because
he was also diagnosed with fetal alcohol syndrome. His mother's
not in the picture anymore. It's his step mom. She
is mom to him. I mean she is there for him,
like to day, she's every appointment. But yeah, he also
does have fetal alcohol syndrome. They believe that's why he
came so early. You know, he was actually trying to
(03:00):
get out of what they call it. The best way
to put it is like a toxic area for him. Heartbreaking,
So you know, and then on top of, you know,
going through everything that he already had. He also went
through withdrawals in the nick. You what are therapy days
like for him? So therapy for him with physical therapy,
they work on his core, his arms, They they're working
(03:21):
on his legs, but they're not doing too much because
I don't want to do too much due to the
hip surger he's gonna have to do get you know,
they're gonna have to relearn everything, so they're not really
pushing for the legs right now. And then he's working
on speech therapy, which actually he just had tubes put
in his ears, so that's actually helped with that. The
doctor described, you know, hey, you hear underwater, you're gonna
(03:41):
talk like you're underwater. You hear French, You're gonna speak French.
Right knowledge he's had those tubes done, his speech has
gotten a little bit better. He is a little more
vocal now. He wants to be self sufficient so bad.
It's just his body and brain do not allow him
to do so. He is a fighter. This kid has
been fighting the day he was born. That's why he's
(04:02):
got such a strong name. Day in and day out.
This kid that has no quit in him. The worst
thing about all of this is he is probably one
of the happiest babies around. This does not stop him.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Well, listen, Robert, you need to say no more for us,
because we are absolutely positively taking Sullivan and you and
the family to Disney World for our jays Junior's trip.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
How's that sound? Are you serious right now? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (04:28):
All expenses paid off to Disney World in December with us.
It's our eleventh trip. The park, passes, hotel, spending money,
food money, everything is all set and taken care of.
You just show up with the family and we'll jump
on that Jersey Mike's plane and head down to Disney
World for a couple of days for what will be
the best family vacation of your life.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Oh my god, I'm speechless. This isn't a joke. No,
it's not a joe. We do that.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
Why would we sit on the call and have this
long conversation for a joke. We're doing this.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
We're doing this because because we never catch a break
with anything dealing with Sullivan, and it's just hard to
believe that something like this is actually going to happen
for him and us.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
Well, we think it would be really nice for you
and his stepmom and stepsister and step brother.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
I mean the entire family to be able to come.
Oh my god, that's awesome. You guys are amazing.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Now you've got got a streak of good luck that
starts today.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
I sure hope. So that is amazing. Thank you guys
so much. You're so welcome. This is probably the best
news that I could have gotten by Biden by far
well good. Like I said, every phone call that has
to deal with Sullivan is always bad news, and this
is wow. This is a break that he needed, that
we needed.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
Yeah, your whole family.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
You guys have no idea of the amount of joy
you're going to bring to all of us. Oh we
know the joy.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
We've done it and we can't wait. That's why we're
so excited to have you, because you're not gonna believe
how much joy you get.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
Thank you guys so much.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
And you're so welcome, Jay and your vacation does have
it all and it's going to be a spectacular time
next week. We couldn't do it without our partners, Jersey
Mike's Planet Fitness, Kroger Mascow, Canterbury Village, Imagine Theaters, Glenlar
Trail's connectic, our new partner this year, Village of Rochester Hills,
and our charitable partner, Angels of Hope. We will see
(06:20):
you soon, my friend.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
Thank you. Okay, bye bye
