Speaker 1 (00:00):
The litigants for our next trial are now entering the courtroom.
This morning here on the Mojo on the Morning Show,
we're going to talk about what could be one of
the biggest cases to come out of Detroit in a
long time. This morning on the show, we have a
special guest in the studio with us. Although hold on,
Lydia's in my ear saying something. Say it on the radio.
(00:22):
You said that I'm supposed to play like some type
of music here right now instead of the people's court music.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Yeah, So Dank has a single out right now and
it's I'm gonna consider her walk up song.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
It's called so what. Oh, So I'm playing hold on a.
Speaker 4 (00:36):
Say I love this, Hold on a second, Hold on
a second, let me let me get it here for
a second.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
I'd do this right.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
If you're coming in studio, if you're willing to wake
up this early in the morning and come in with us,
I got to make sure I do it right. You
heard this woman's story first here on the Mojo in
the Morning Show. You saw it all over social media.
This woman is a national femom. Uh and now she's
gonna spin this off into a big time payday.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Did you hear that.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
I divorced Chelsea and now I'm marrying Dank Dama Dank
to Mill Dank Toms.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
We're getting married together.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
I got to marry her now because when she gets
her big court settlement, I want to have some of them.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
How do you feel about that? Yeah, I don't know.
I promise you I'm good with my money. I'm good
with my money.
Speaker 5 (01:25):
I'm trying to right. Let's do that first.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Yeah, I know we're gonna make some money. We're hell
last name, real quick, here we go.
Speaker 5 (01:31):
What about the money right now? I'm worried about my right. Hey,
here we go.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
Let's play some music then? How about that? Then? What
do you think a right? Is this the clean version? Hopefully?
Speaker 4 (01:43):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Okay, young girls always what about what?
Speaker 5 (01:49):
Who dank?
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Love?
Speaker 5 (01:50):
Is what Dank got going on? Worry about shaw? Get
a man, keep him in? Do that first? Say no
one think because they ain't never handle love it.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
And I will never find Yeah, we find it was,
but that mean we hate each other.
Speaker 5 (02:09):
O't slip and no if they try an we'll be
breaking never. You know, he's say I'm not you know,
not a play with me?
Speaker 3 (02:20):
You're like, it's unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
What did she sound like that? She sounds like a
leah it's by the way, Why did they wait? Why
do they call you a rapper? This sounds like you're
you're a performer, you're a singer.
Speaker 5 (02:40):
I am, I am.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
We're talking what microphone are you talking into? The microphone
keeps falling.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
I am an artist, who know I do both rape?
Speaker 3 (02:50):
That's amazing. What's this song called?
Speaker 1 (02:58):
People got to know your name that didn't already know
you're from your music because of the story that came
out about how you were going to a family member's
house to go watch a Lions game and you called
for a lift to come and pick you up and
take you over there. You obviously called for a nice
(03:21):
lift because a Mercedes came to pick you up. So
was that like a lyft Ex what do they call
their platinum or something?
Speaker 5 (03:28):
It was just a regular lift, Like I never had
to do nothing extra? Would live?
Speaker 2 (03:31):
You know?
Speaker 5 (03:32):
I just called me live.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
That's the car that showed up. What didn't specify?
Speaker 5 (03:37):
Okay, okay, I'm just like okay.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
When you first saw that it was going to be
a Mercedes picking up, you're like, oh man, damn that's nice.
Speaker 5 (03:44):
I was just like, okay, I'm about to get.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
A ride because I got Mercedes already late, Like I'm
texting my cousin.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
I get kills.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
I'm telling you, I ain't gonna lie if I schedule
a regular lift in a beam resumple of.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
I got a little bit. So the guy.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Pulls up and when he pulls up, he sees you
walking towards the car. And this is the audio, which,
by the way, great job on catching and capturing this audio,
because if you didn't have this audio, nobody.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Would believe your story.
Speaker 5 (04:16):
True.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
Yeah, here, listen to this audio. Guy heah, my car
is small.
Speaker 5 (04:22):
I can fit in this car? Yes, I so you'll
sadden me. I can't. I'm getting to live because I
can't sit in your car. Yeah. What makes you think
I can't hit in a car?
Speaker 6 (04:38):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (04:38):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 5 (04:39):
What makes you think I can't sit in this car?
For you? My best friend has it is?
Speaker 7 (04:45):
That's not where in this that I can see.
Speaker 6 (04:46):
That's the same time, you know, I'm sort more and
more specifically, do I got very fire?
Speaker 8 (04:55):
Oh my god, I have a question, though I haven't
questioned before, because one thing he said caused you to say,
I need to start recording this.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
What did What was the first thing he said to you?
Speaker 2 (05:06):
He started rejecting me. He's like, sorry, mam, I came
into my car. I said, this is really happening.
Speaker 5 (05:12):
People need to see this. So I pulled up my
phone off.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Okay, and that's what happened. Okay.
Speaker 8 (05:16):
So it's just a continuation of what he had originally said.
Speaker 5 (05:20):
A lot of people were saying like, oh, she set
that up. No this I did.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
This happened, you know, like I needed I had a
reason to start recording him.
Speaker 5 (05:31):
Checkted me. Was my reason for recording?
Speaker 1 (05:33):
Yes, so he did. He just it's saying there, my
tires are what did you say tired? My tires are That's.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
What I thought.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
He said, Yeah, he said his tires was tired, and
I just wanted to what do they have to do
with me?
Speaker 9 (05:46):
It seems like you shouldn't be driving anybody at that point.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
That so so he leaves you out there, which your
lawyer came on with us.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
John came on with us, right, and he came on
with us.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
And when he came on, he said to us, you
know that he told us about the discriminatory, you know,
situation and how Michigan does have weight as a discrimination,
that you cannot discriminate against somebody because of their weight.
But then we started having more conversations about this and
realized what a horrible position to put you in. Thank god,
(06:18):
you were coming out of your own home. What if
you were coming out of the club at night, or
you were stuck in a situation where your car was
broken down on the side of the you were.
Speaker 8 (06:28):
Impaired and needed that ride to get somewhere safely, which.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
Is probably most reasons why people take lists.
Speaker 8 (06:34):
So did you did you file a complaint with Lift,
like via the app first, or how did that happen?
Speaker 2 (06:41):
I want to talk to my feelings was hurt, Like
y'all just don't understand, Like I couldn't believe that was
happening to me.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
Yeah, you know, like I could believe.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
I just didn't believe that it happened to me. Like
after it happened, I went back inside my house and
I sat there. I sat there for a minute before
I called somebody because I was like, this really happened,
you know.
Speaker 5 (07:01):
I was chipping out.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
But I didn't say nothing to live. I didn't report
the driver. I didn't do none of that, you know.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
So the the guy obviously, and I'm not judging him
based on this, but he sounded like he was I
don't know, a foreign guy or something like that, right,
And I don't know if if the guy was, you know,
he didn't seem like I mean, even though the things
he said didn't seem like he was a horrible human being.
He just maybe thought that you could not have fit
(07:32):
in the car, advocate in that or not.
Speaker 5 (07:35):
No, he locked those doors.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
He locked the door.
Speaker 5 (07:39):
They locked the doors on me, and I'm like, what, like,
is you for real?
Speaker 3 (07:43):
So he locked the doors like you were going to
rob him or something.
Speaker 9 (07:46):
Man.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
Basically, it's crazy because at least at least I would
have thought and I would have given you and I
don't know how you would have felt about this, but
I would have said, Okay, the guy, he's tried if
he got out of the car, walked around to the
other side, opened the door and said, let's try.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
So he didn't even want to try to see if
you could fit in the car.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
That's what I'm saying. I said, how you know, how
you know I can't fit in here? My best friend
got the same car. He didn't even at least try.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
And you ride in your best friend's car, the same car.
Where do you sit in that car?
Speaker 3 (08:18):
Front?
Speaker 5 (08:20):
I dropped his cars. You can say anywhere in a
living so it doesn't matter.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
So hold on, let me listen to the rest of this.
Let's say it. Believe me he was tramping cars. Yeah,
and you have no space?
Speaker 5 (08:34):
How I don't have no face? I got no space
from the dead. How do you not? I don't have
no phrase.
Speaker 8 (08:41):
Because I tried people, I don't never have to order
uber XCU.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
It's interesting that that the whole idea that you need
a bigger car, You need a bigger car. Which do
you when you order? You order cars the same size?
You have gotten into the cars and they have had
good service in the past.
Speaker 5 (09:00):
Yes, Like I always order a regular.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
Carna names some cars that you fit into. Like what
kind of car did you drive on the way over here?
Speaker 3 (09:08):
What'd you take?
Speaker 2 (09:09):
Well, I have a personal driver, so he picks me up.
He picked me up in a big truck like an expedition. Okay,
all right, But like when I'm alone by myself, I'm
doing regular, regular woman things.
Speaker 5 (09:21):
I want to go get my nails dead. I'm gonna
call me and.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
Lift, you know, and what kind of cars? Come?
Speaker 7 (09:24):
Do you drive?
Speaker 9 (09:25):
Car?
Speaker 3 (09:26):
Do you have a car?
Speaker 5 (09:26):
No? I don't drive it.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Okay, okay, I'm a princess.
Speaker 8 (09:32):
Is gonna ask what kind of car do you?
Speaker 5 (09:36):
I do?
Speaker 2 (09:37):
I do want to transfer into driving on my own, yeah,
you know, but right now I just.
Speaker 5 (09:45):
I'm good.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
The reason I ask you about the about the kind
of cars because when you go into a courtroom and
I'm assuming this and we're gonna have zach On with us,
hold On Zach as your attorney.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
He's on the phone with us.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
Zach you know for a fact that the uh Lift
attorneys are gonna ask her, you know, have you ever
it into car A or car B or car C?
Like I think they're gonna well unless unless that I'm ready.
But that's why I was asking. I'm asking what what
are the cars?
Speaker 3 (10:10):
Like? What?
Speaker 1 (10:10):
What car is that same size? Because you say you
fit in that car you set in the front.
Speaker 5 (10:14):
I don't know the name of the car, but I
swear like it was.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
I went to the grocery store for Thanksgiving and I
had four little girls with me, y'all.
Speaker 5 (10:22):
The car was so small. It was a blue little car,
but like it was small.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
We all and you all got it.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
We all sat in that car, like I don't know
what type of car was, but it was a small,
little blue car.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
And it was probably the same size, if not smaller
than that car.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
Than that car, I've been in little cars like I'm
only five feet you know, I'm just big, a little big,
you know, but I ain't got a little bit, but
I'm big.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Listen, Can I be honest with you. I've always been large,
larger guy. I was at one point four hundred pounds,
and at four hundred pounds, I would get in Uber
left and I would call for an Uber left, and
I usually would call for a bigger car just because
I'm a six foot three guy. But I will tell
you I've got friends that have smaller cars. Usually they
(11:05):
let me sit in the front seat of the car.
I mean, there's ways to get in the car. There's
way they could put the seat all the way back.
They could figure it out. At very least a guy
could have attempted to do something or said, hey, I'll
stay here with you. Let's call another car, instead of
the way that he was doing it by locking it.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Zach, let's go to you real quick, Zach. You there, yep,
I'm here, Zach.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
What have you heard from Lyft? The last that we
talked to John was, you know, over a week ago,
and we found out that Lyft never responded to this,
you know, media attention that's been going on.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
Have you heard anything from them now?
Speaker 7 (11:40):
We still haven't heard anything. The only communication we've had
is they left a couple of comments on Deja's original posts,
but they haven't responded to us since the lawsuit's been filed.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
When did they comment?
Speaker 7 (11:54):
Daja It probably still has a comment, but I think
they just made a blanket, generic statement that they don't
condone discrimination.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Comment, Zach, as you know, an attorney that obviously fights
you know, uh, cases like this where people are being
discriminated against.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
What is typical?
Speaker 1 (12:12):
Would they wait until the courts put everything in motion
before they would come out and comment?
Speaker 3 (12:21):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (12:21):
You know, It's hard for me to say that there
is a typical route that companies like this take. I've
had companies, do you know, do either one where they'll
either wait till they have to respond based on the
court rules, or they'll come out, you know, right away
and try to remedy the situation. So I don't know
if there's a typical route, but I can't say I'm
surprised that we haven't heard from them yet, so you know,
(12:45):
I expect that we'll be hearing from them within the
next few weeks. But this isn't out of the ordinary.
Speaker 8 (12:50):
Are we seeing for a dollar amount here or what
are what is the amilodask?
Speaker 7 (12:57):
Well, we haven't. We we haven't disclosed the number yet.
I think it's too early for that. You know, Desa
has has been consistent that, you know, she just wants.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
Justice in this case.
Speaker 7 (13:07):
So hopefully Left will do the right thing and cooperate
with us and you know, we can resolve this amicably.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
Desia, do you want just an apology or do you
want a financial settlement on this? To make them really
feel the pain over the fact that they did this.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
I want them to do something about it, Like I
want them to add something to the EPP. That's what
I want, because I'm not the only person that.
Speaker 5 (13:28):
They did this too.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
Like I got a lot of people reaching out to
me right now, even have lift drivers reaching out to me,
like I would never did that to you.
Speaker 5 (13:34):
He wasn't supposed to do that.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
My main thing is just ask something to the app
because I just feel like I just like I keep saying,
I just feel like everybody put big people in a category,
and if that's going to happen, then accommodate this world
for us accommodator.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
There's a reason why it's already a protected status.
Speaker 9 (13:52):
There's enough situations of harm happening that we said we
legally have to go through this process to protect people.
So this isn't like a one off or a wild scenario.
This happens so often there's a law about it. Now,
does anybody the law? Does anybody know if the guy
who is the driver has.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
Come forward and said anything, or is anybody.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
I don't think so, like I didn't bother him, I
didn't report them, you know, So.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
I don't know because I wonder. I mean, obviously, this
audio is so famous. I mean it's been everywhere.
Speaker 8 (14:27):
I mean it's been I have seen your TikTok everywhere,
daily mail everywhere.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
I feel you, if.
Speaker 4 (14:34):
It's a law in place that prevents discrimination of all kinds,
then these companies that operate in the states where such
laws exist should be held by the same stand And
I get.
Speaker 9 (14:45):
Really frustrated that the weight one is dismissed so often
by people.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
We would not do this for religion, We.
Speaker 9 (14:51):
Would not do this for race. We would and if
somebody did, we would say, you're horrible. And the fact
that this gets dismissed so openly and so often.
Speaker 5 (15:00):
And by the public is infuriating.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
Zach.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
Do you know, and you, guys, I'm sure probably have
had some of your people go through this. In any
of those terms of agreements and any of that stuff,
is there anything in there about if you can't fit
in the car or any of that stuff? Like, do
we know if there's any any in the hidden print stuff?
Speaker 7 (15:22):
You know, I haven't seen anything like that. But it
really doesn't matter because the law says you can't discriminate
based on weight, So you can't contract yourself out of
the Civil Rights Act. So the Civil Rights Act protects,
you know, protects people based on their weight. So it
doesn't matter what the lyft contract says. They have to
follow the law.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
Monica has a piece of advice for you, Zach. If
this does go to court and appear before a judge, Monica,
what do you think that Zach and John and Daja
should do?
Speaker 3 (15:53):
Yeah, Hi, good morning, guys.
Speaker 8 (15:55):
So girl.
Speaker 6 (15:56):
You hi, you need to show up to court that
day and the exact same make and model vehicle and
get out with a smile on your face to literally
prove your point right.
Speaker 9 (16:08):
Then and there.
Speaker 8 (16:09):
There's not even a court needs at that point.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
Yeah, well, that's an interesting thing that actually could be
even like one of your little media things that you
could do, Zach.
Speaker 5 (16:18):
Yet find.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
I think this And by the way, the reason I
asked that question, and I know there's people that are
like that was rude that you would ask that question
is Daisy, you have said before that you've gotten into
smaller vehicles and I don't know cars as well either,
even though I love cars. But there are if you
can prove if you basically and Zach you're going to
do this because you guys are great lawyers, You're going
to prove that. Hey, at very least if the guy
(16:45):
attempted to help you out, that's where discrimination ends. Like
if that guy just got out of the car and
attempted to say, hey, let me help you, and Zach,
would you am I right in saying this if he
would have said, you know what, I'm going to get
out of the car with you. I don't think you
can try, you know, try to do it, and then
said let's call another lift or another one.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
There would be no case here, right, I agree.
Speaker 7 (17:10):
I mean I think if if he would have even
tried to let her get in the car, things would
have been a lot different. I also think, you know,
part of what struck me when I watched the video
is when he started talking about his tires, because that
made it obvious to me that he wasn't worried she
couldn't get in the car because her tires.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
His tires have nothing to do with that.
Speaker 7 (17:29):
I mean, he was targeting her because of how much
she weighed, and I think his tires comments shows that.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
Yeah, well listen, we're getting married, Zach. I hope you
know that I'm calling all the shots right now for
Dank because I just want her to be good with
her money that she's going to make out of this
whole deal. You know, what's the most money that you
guys have ever won for a client in the past, uh, Zach.
(17:55):
I want to make sure you're a good enough attorney
for this.
Speaker 7 (17:58):
You know, I can't disclose a lot of these things
are confidential, but it'd be enough for you.
Speaker 3 (18:03):
I can promise that. All right. You know what, No,
he likes Peter Millar.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
You gotta double X, double X. All right, So what
about the music thing? Let me ask you about your music?
Is your Is this going to help your music? Have
you gained followers off of this?
Speaker 5 (18:20):
I have? Let's find the positive.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
Do you look at that as a positive?
Speaker 2 (18:30):
I look, I'm dank. I gotta be dank. At the
end of the day. I didn't show up as Dason.
I showed up as dank.
Speaker 5 (18:36):
So when it comes to my music and when it comes.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
To my craft, for my work, I'm always in good spears.
Speaker 5 (18:41):
I'm always hoping for the biz, you know.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
Okay, all right, well listen, Zach, thank you so much, buddy,
you and your great attorneys over there fight for this
woman here.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
Okay, yeah, thank you.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
I love If anybody knows who that lyft driver is. Uh,
We're not gonna harass him, but I'd like to get
him on the air with us. I'd love to see
if we could get him to come on and apologize.
I mean, I'm assuming that this guy is a human
being that has a heart and didn't, you know, want
to hurt anybody. I'm just going to make that assumption,
because I just don't think that people genuinely would be
that mean. But I can only imagine that that guy
(19:17):
probably is going to be faced with a lot of
scrutiny for what he did that day, and maybe he
learns who, you know, Dank is as a human being
and looks at her more as a human then looks
at her as a person who's plusized. You know, Dank,
thank you. Will you hang out with us for a
little bit? I will, all right, We love it. She
by the way, asked if she could vape in the
studio as long as long as I don't see you. Okay,
(19:41):
I can't see it.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
So bad right now.
Speaker 5 (19:45):
I literally wait.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
To the doctor, what do you got? What flavor do
you have of? Maybe you and I go out back. Actually,
you know, I know somebody Megan Zach and Teresa Lucas
will take you out back if you guys want to.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
You guys can hang out back
