Speaker 2 (00:24):
Thirty Shannon first dirty of the morning, actually fourth from
last dirty there.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
I like that description matter all right.
Speaker 4 (00:33):
So more than thirty people have now been indicted after
this huge federal investigation into illegal sports betting operations. This
news came down at the end of the show yesterday.
Lots of updates for you. Some key names in these
indictments Chauncey Billips, former Detroit Piston, of course, Super Miami Yeah,
(00:54):
Terry Rosier, and Damon Jones, former NBA player and assistant coach.
And the allegations are extensive, insider passed non public information
like injuries, lineup changes, et.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
Cetera, et cetera to betters.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
One scheme involved the use of tech to cheat at
underground poker games backed by organized crime families aka the mafia.
And when I say tech, I'm talking about and we'll
get more into this throughout the morning, but X ray
poker tables, so when cards were turned over, you could
see what hands everybody had around the entire table, Glasses
(01:31):
that showed these sorts of things, decoys, cell phones, I mean,
just crazy, crazy stuff. This is FBI Director Cashpittel.
Speaker 5 (01:42):
But as you now know, individuals such as Chauncey Billups,
Damon Jones, and Terry Rozier were taking into custody today
former current NBA players and coaches.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
What you don't know is.
Speaker 5 (01:54):
That this is an illegal gambling operation and sports rigging
operation that span the course of years. The FBI led
a coordinative takedown across eleven states to arrest over thirty
individuals today responsible for this case, which is very much ongoing.
Speaker 6 (02:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
Patel flagged the charges as a major threat to the
integrity of professional sports and the legal sports betting market.
Speaker 5 (02:17):
Good morning today, we are here in New York to
announce a historic arrests across a wide, sweeping criminal enterprise
that enveloped both the NBA and Lacasinostra. Not only did
we crack into the fraud that these perpetrators committed on
the grand stage of the NBA, But we also entered
(02:38):
and executed a system of justice against Lacasinostra to include
the Bonano, Gambino, Geneveaci and Luchase crime families, and you'll
hear more about those details today. The charges and the
arrests that were taken down across this country range from
wire fraud, money laundering, extortion, robbery, illegal gambling.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Right right by the way.
Speaker 4 (02:59):
When I heard that clip yesterday, I was like, I
have a friend with the last name Jennevci.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
Her family was connected.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
By the way.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
This is really sad for as a Pistons fan, as
somebody that literally idolized a lot of those guys that
were on the four team to know that somebody like
Chauncey Billups, who was honestly wished came back to Detroit.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
I wish he was our general manager. I wish he
was our coach.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
I wish he was somewhere because he's a great ambassador
to the team that he would do this for poker,
and he would do this for who knows what kind
of money, And you know, I always looked at him
as a man of integrity and I'll let the process
take its place. I'm happy that he hasn't been accused
of betting. It sounds like on the games and messing
(03:49):
with the integrity of the sport. He was doing it
for purely with the poker part. But I will tell
you sometimes when there's smoke, there's fire, and I think
that you dabble in a little bit of a poker
you may bee dabbling in a little bit of pulling
guys out of games, or you know, messing with the lines,
you know, I just it makes me sad, like I
(04:11):
really do. In Terry Rozier, you know, the idea that
he would fake injuries or you know, Damon Jones, the
idea that he would let people know that Lebron wasn't
going to be playing in a game before anybody else
so they could put big money on bets.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
That's just sad, man. It's integrity of the sport, you know.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
And it's just if you don't have the integrity to
just go out there and play the sport the way
that the sport was made, and you got to do
this for a little bit of money, and you already
make this much money, you probably shouldn't be making that
much money. You don't have, you don't have your financial
advisors working your money the way that they can do
it legally.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
But yeah, gambling's gambling is an addiction.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
And I'm going to play a clip later to this
morning of Charles Barkley inside the NBA saying it's not
but it is an addiction. This I don't know necessarily
if this is an addiction or this is just criminal.
Speaker 6 (04:58):
You know, I can understand. I share the same passions
as most people. We grew up. We love the sport
of basketball. Like you mentioned, born and rays. Being in
the city of Detroit, Chauncey has a special place in
all of our hearts. I understand America's infatuation with celebrity,
which is why we're only focused on the basketball players.
We also need to be as focused on the crime
(05:21):
families that are really the ones pulling the stream yet
that need to be the big ass story La coach Nostro.
All these damn mob families, they're the real ones out
there that not only are shaving points and betting, but
hurting people physically. Yeah, when they aren't able to pay
these bets like that means to where their pictures that
I'm only looking at Chauncey and Terry.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
We're close.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
That still exists in five Well, it exists not just
with them, but it exists with mafia families that are
mafia families from all cultures.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
That's what I mean.
Speaker 4 (05:53):
It's just funny, all right. Are you guys gonna be
watching the World Series Game one tonight?
Speaker 3 (05:57):
Game for Williams for Al Williams.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
Gonna take the field tonight ahead of Game one of
the World Series in Toronto, performing alongside the gospel group
Voices of Fire. He's performing. Jonah's brother is going to
be performing at Game two. If you are a Joe
Burrows pans, it's.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Wild that Toronto has the home field advantage. I always
thought the Dodgers were like the best team in baseball,
but I guess they didn't finish the regular season the best.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
And lastly, this is a great story.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
At California, Mom goes to her local goodwill to find
some Halloween costumes, grabs a mask for five bucks. Okay,
turns out to be a rare vintage version of the
Scream ghost face mask. She sold it later on eBay
for more than seven hundred and fifty dollars.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
Yeah, picked it up.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
It was like kind of dirty, kind of worn, but
it had the brand fun World stamped under the chin,
and she was like, oh, maybe this is something through
it on eBay starting bid ninety nine cents because she's like,
I'm not mean to price, you know, god, gaate price, gouch,
thank you, it's Friday. But she's like, maybe somebody else
wants this final sale seven hundred and seventy dollars.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
Inspiration for the screen movies. Yeah.
