Speaker 1 (00:00):
It is the Mojo in the Morning show. Phone numbers
eight four to four Mojo Live eight four four six
six five six five four eight. The text is ninety
five five zero zero. If you do have a comment
to say, make sure you tell us. If you're a
first time long time, if you text us, look for
a call from us. Lydia will call you because she's
gonna ask you to go on the radio with us,
because we'd love to hear your voice and love to

(00:21):
get all participation in here. Kevin's got the question to
ask that was brought up by what his mom said
to him. That's a fact, and it deals with women,
and do women like when guys do this? What's up?

Speaker 2 (00:37):
I need to ask cause you a little young, but
cause you still got an opinion, I need.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
To ask Lydia, and of course Chelsea here, So I
got to ask Chelsea.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
My mama said, I need to die my beard now,
Chelsea sitting on my left, the left side of my
face rest right.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
She got to be kind in this one because her
husband throws in an occasional die in his beard. You
do occasional. You do every word for you doing it
like a couple of times a week I do a little.
It's called the beard wash. So when when did you
start doing that?

Speaker 3 (01:06):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
I think I've been doing it a long time. It's
been a while, like since you started gray. So I
started getting gray in my twenties. I actually started I
had gray. I remember we used to go to this
who was the the hair hair stylist that we used
to go to in Royal Oak. You and I both
went to Kitty Kitty? What a name? Kitty? Where is
Kitty at me? They shut up the George for six

(01:27):
alone to have a blessed day, brought you George. Yeah,
but we should ask George what he thinks of this,
saying call him up? We should ask her? Yes? All right?
So I'm thinking die on this, on this thing. I've
been doing it. Probably I didn't care at all until
I got to be like forty five, close to fifty,
and then it got bad for me. But I think
that when I was in my thirties it was cool

(01:49):
to have gray hair because people already knew you were
in your thirties.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
I think that if you over die though, because you
can't have a dark beard and then gray hair.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Perkins, the famous fuel Perkins from Fox to Detroit.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
You need to match.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
But I like gray, and men like for me, and
I feel like for my generation about in me? Do
you like me? Man?

Speaker 2 (02:17):
You just turned forty five? You supposed to have gray hair?
Like if you all here dark hair, I'm looking like
you trying to hold onto something that you need to
let go. What do you do you think mine looks unnatural? No,
I didn't know you. I wouldn't have known you died it.
I don't die it all the way I die. It
kind of like a little lady, a little light. It's
occasionally just otherwise it could get really really here's where
it gets gray. Yeah, that's where Mina started, like when

(02:40):
I was when I and it's crazy.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
I don't been through some crazy stuff, it must.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
I literally thought about this earlier this week where last
year I remember doing Pistons games and getting my hair
cut and seeing literally one gray hair come out of
my mustache and using the scissors to just cut that
one hair out.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Now it's like I got five six growing just in
a mustache with a whole side burn slash.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Nick Carr going great, and my mom, because we had
the funeral, she was like, you need to touch that
up a little bit. She's like, just grab the mascara
and just do a little something on your mustache.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
I'm like, bruh, mascara. Mascarat? What is mascara? Is like
old school approach? Yeah, on that old school. Tell her
to die. Tell her that we have Yeah, we actually
had a U. Grady, let me careful.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
It stains everything, not just your beards.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Stand our shower. I'm calling U. Katrina, Hi baby, how
are you? Beautiful? Lady? I am wonderful. How are you?

Speaker 5 (03:43):
Hi?

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Everybody Katrina from six to line your thoughts on this, Katrina,
Kevin Dye and his beard, Oh well, first of all,
have is so handsome either way, don't say that, but

(04:05):
I do. Yeah you wait, hold on, cav you're your thirties. Yes, yes,
a quick beer washing would be great. I don't want
to do honestly, Katrina.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
I don't want to have any physical enhancements.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
I just want to keep it natural.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Yeah, But at the same time, it's kind of like, damn,
Like I'm not trying to be out here and looking like,
you know, mojo or something.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Hey, you're on the streets, You're you're fighting new girl.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
You need to have a little I think I think
a quick little wash is no big deal. If it
was like and you're a young baby, you got you
got time for your gray Who is the guy there's
a local, uh political guy that's got gray hair, or
he's got gray hair all over the place and he's
a young guy. Forget who it is? Or really yeah,

(05:01):
I see him on CNN every now and again and
stuff like that. But I think he might be from Detroit.
He always looked good with gray hair. Like Black men
do one of two things. Either they can go all
the way gray yeah and be you know, be gray,
like what the hell is his name from? Shashank Redemption, Morgan, Freemer, Freman,
or or they they get the dark black hair, like

(05:24):
jet black hair and they're like ninety years old and
you're like, how the hell.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
Is that guy still this way? Like my thing, I'd
rather go great and be bald. Shout out to all
the ball homies out there, like, I'm not trying to
be bald, but gret I just can't see myself doing that.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
I think it's too young.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Give it, you have time, give it some more years,
so you're letting it go.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
But now say young Prussian secksh.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
But the thing. Appreciate that.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
But the thing is, like I watched the BT Awards
a couple of days ago. Kevin Hart has black hair,
black mustache, black beer, and it's clearly like you're dying.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
He's like fifty, isn't he? Or late forty? Yeah, but like,
why are you doing? I just feel like it's kind
of I don't know. It just don't work for me.
You want to see that's for him, that makes him feel.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Good, makes him feel confident.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
I hate when people tell anybody what they should be doing.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Yeah, they gotta gotta wake up in the mirror, look
at themselves and feel good about it.

Speaker 5 (06:17):
Right.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Hey, old and Jason wants to comment on this. Jason,
what do you think about Kevin wanting or his mom
wanted him to do this?

Speaker 3 (06:23):
Yeah? Yeah, bro, bro, don't don't don't do it. Leave
it Rocket, I'm telling you right now. I get whip
last looks all the time, bro breaking next out here?

Speaker 1 (06:38):
How old are you?

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Salt and Pepper baby? I am forty five? And there
he started.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
This started probably uh about seven years ago through me. Okay,
got you? Was it a tough transition? Like when you
started to see those initial grays did you pull them
out or cut them off? Or did you say, okay,
this is where we're going.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
I accepted it and I rode with it and it's
beautiful and is beautiful.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Okay, okay, Hey, hold on, Claudia, what do you think, Claudia.
Jason says no, Katrina says, it's how you feel. What
do you think, Claudia, Gary, huh.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
Bro?

Speaker 1 (07:28):
What is she saying? I don't understand? Stay black, Jimmy Arry?
What the hell is she saying?

Speaker 3 (07:34):

Speaker 1 (07:36):
That's Kevin you're saying, I'm sorry, I can't Claudia. Where
are you from? Claudia Morejo?

Speaker 3 (07:45):

Speaker 1 (07:49):

care of yourself. Hold on, Tiffany wants to make account.
What's up, Tiffany. Hi, I'm truly with Kevin.

Speaker 5 (08:56):
Stay all natural.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
My husband is thirty two. I'm thirty seven, and I
love the grain and beard. And he said I earned
everything on one of them between you and the kids.
That's awesome. I love that. Amanda. What are your thoughts
for Kevin?

Speaker 5 (09:12):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (09:12):
He really doesn't have a lot of gray. I think
he's full of graphs. Look weird, he's plucking up on side.
What do you think, Amanda?

Speaker 4 (09:23):
I think keV is a trendsetter and to take it
back to the nineties and do some frosted.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
Tips, join the boy band. You need to do the
whole thing. I've never seen them. Oh my god, you'd

what's going on?

Speaker 3 (10:16):
Look? Hey, care checked me out? Bro? Man. Look look

Speaker 1 (10:35):
Bro, Yeah, don't. I you can't do that. Yeah, all right,

wanted to die Like I say, I'm going to die
my hair, and she's like, she wouldn't dye my hair
like you know for me. She said, I'll do anything
for you, but I'm not gonna do because I don't
think you'd look good on that. I will really, Yeah,

man with gray hair. What do you think about this?

Speaker 3 (12:09):
Good morning everyone? How y'all doing what?

Speaker 1 (12:11):
I'm fantastic? What do you think about keV wanting to
do this? Or guys in general?

Speaker 5 (12:16):
Listen, It's all about you how it makes you feel.
I don't mind my gray at all, but some guys
really do mind it. And like I was with keV,
I would rather have hair. And you can grow any
color of the rainbow as long as there's hair on
my head. The beard, it's up to you on that beard.
Hair is also a little different. It takes really dark
really quick, though. But I'm all about the blending of

(12:38):
the gray. I don't want to take it all out.
I just want to blend it. Yeah, kind of like
what Mojo does.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
So make sure it looks natural.

Speaker 5 (12:45):
That's the biggest thing, right absolutely, And and also when
you're in the sunlight with glasses on, you can always
tell a guy guys color on their head.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
It's too dark. It doesn't look right.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
Yeah, hey George, that great hit. Different when you're coming
out the range Rover. I'm going.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
That's that's that's a little different peoplending with the chrome.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
We'll talk to you later, George, See you, man,

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
