Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, I'm about those Detroit testing by de Troy.

(00:08):
Zach asked me if I was gonna give Kevin crap today,
And well, Zach, if you want to come on in,
you can come in studio for this one. He goes, hey,
see what Kevin's wearing right now? And I said, what's that?
He goes another man's name on his back, and he
knows that I focus on the front, Bro, not the bet.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
He knows it. He knows that I like to give crap.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
But I'm gonna say this, Zach, I'm not gonna give
Kevin crap because he can get away with it. We
can't because we are unathletic white dudes, and Kevin can
get away with it because he's an athletic black man.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
Here's the thing, Bro, you can wear whatever you want
to wear. I'm not the person that's gonna go around
seeing that grown me and can't wear jerseys. I'm not
that person. I'm gonna weare whatever the hell I want
to wear.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Do you think I could pull off a basketball jersey?

Speaker 2 (01:04):
You wear jokahs? You can do whatever you want.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
Here's here's my here's my caveat with that, though, I
don't mind the jersey as long as you have a
shirt on under it. The guys that wear the jerseys
with nothing their armpit, hair sticking all out the sides.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
No, you're not about to check in and play twenty.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
You got a Patrick ewing it back in the old days.
Patrick only guy with the shirt on that. But I
will say I will say this though, Shannon, and let
me ask you this. I think guys can pull off
football jerseys, Uh, hockey jerseys and maybe maybe baseball jerseys.
Guys cannot wear basketball jerseys if they're if they're on

(01:42):
a unathletic Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Where are these rules from? What are you talking about?

Speaker 1 (01:47):
I want to see I want to see Zach in
a Cade Cunningham jersey.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
I would look fighter, but it would be it would
be kind of weird. Bro. Like I'm not I'm not
a basketball player, Like I'm more of a hockey guy.
So I look good. And those are bigger jerseys. But
like the basketball jerseys, they cover my love handles. And
I'm not trying. I'm trying to see the flats, you know,
they're a little bit more fitting.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
They don't grow big, and if you go big on it,
then it looks really awkward.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Are there like okay, Shannon Anna and Lydia Biaka? Are
there certain things like guys shouldn't wear like it's a
base basketball jersey one of those things. Or if a
guy comes and tries to talk to you, or like
say west ad One, would you look at him kind
of crazy, like what are you wearing right now?

Speaker 4 (02:31):
No, that doesn't bother me so much. Like if you're like,
first off, you can pull off anything, really anything that
a lot of guys couldn't. But yeah, there there's stuff
that guys wear that I'm like, oh.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Like kivas, guys should not wear unless.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
In Colorado, unless you live in Colorado.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
And I'll give you another one too.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
No guy, except for the catcher on a baseball team,
should wear a hat backwards.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
I'm sorry, you cannot wear a hat backwards.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
No, I disagree with that one. I say, you can't
wear your sunglasses on your half.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
That drives me. How about when they put it on
the back of the.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
Head upside down?

Speaker 2 (03:14):
How do you get there? For me, it's a fanny peck,
but like not across your body, but around your waist.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
I'm like a Disney dad, you can pull that off.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
I'm hot.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
For you.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
All right?

Speaker 1 (03:27):

Speaker 1 (03:41):
Come on, he is Jalen Durant eleven and two. Look
at this guy? Look how look how sexy he looks.
Although he doesn't it with the hoodie on, he's cool
with it.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
Kate. He can kind of get away with it. What
you got on? Kate? Yeah? What do you got?

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Kate?

Speaker 2 (03:56):
What do you What are you wearing? This one? He
wants to know. I'm wearing a Turkey shirt because I
represent Thanksgiving.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
I'm gonna say this to you, guys should never wear
like some of these shirts that I'll see guys wear like.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
You can't like ugly Christmas weaters.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
You just can't randomly just start wearing ugly Christmas tell
me randomly it's the season.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
Oh see, I think that that's money when guys do that.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
I don't know. I don't like it. What's up? How
you doing? I don't like? What's up? Ken? What's going
on with Mojo?

Speaker 1 (04:29):
What's happening. Man, we're talking about things that guys can't wear.

Speaker 5 (04:33):
No this with the jerseys.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
I think you're going off the nineteen eighty five white
guy rules.

Speaker 5 (04:38):
That they rerid the rules a few years ago. You
just put it.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
You put a hoodie under the jersey.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
You're good to go.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Good to go.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Kevin looks good with the hoodie under the jersey. Yeah
he can pull that off. Yeah, Kevin reach edition on
keV knows book.

Speaker 4 (05:13):

Speaker 2 (05:15):
I gotta be honest, baby, So I was just gonna
say that when my husband and I first met twenty
something years ago, he used to.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Wear a fanny pack and it wouldn't bother me.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
If I'm being completely honest, And you know, I fell
for him that I was in my early twenties. He's
a little bit older than I am, but his friends
made fun of him so much that he stopped using it.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
But now the man cannot find his wallet a fanny pack.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
Right, as a man, we have things too, right, I
got keys, I got a cell phone.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
I'm gonna ask him, Chad Steak, I got a wallet, and.

all the time, cargo.

I said, keV could pull it off very if you
guys could. And same thing with butt flair.

husband and featuring that thing around, he said.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
She said, he turning around. She turned around exactly. Do

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
