Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's Mojo in the morning show.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
You know, I wanted to ask this question yesterday and
I didn't get a chance to do so, so I
want to do it.

Speaker 3 (00:05):
I know.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Last week on the show, keV talked about how his
mom was going to introduce keV to her boyfriend from Atlanta,
and keV was going to meet this guy for the
very first time, and it was like keV giving the
guy the whole hey, what are your intentions with my
mom type thing?

Speaker 1 (00:24):
How did that go? My sister said I was disrespectful? Why?
I don't think I was disrespectful. Honestly though, I felt
like a little disrespect was necessary, just to let him
know that it can go there if it need to
go there. WHOA, what what do you mean? What happened?
I don't know what happened. First off, I'm already of
the mindset that I need to show him that again,

(00:46):
it can go there if it needs to go there.
I think a little healthy fear is appropriated these type
of situations. If you're a father and you have a daughter,
I feel like you understand that, like you have to
have a little level of healthy fear and whoever's trying
to court your your mom, your auntie, the woman in
your life type of thing. So I was already had

(01:06):
that energy in that mindset going in. So I'm sitting
in a little lazy boy waiting for him to pull up.
I hear a knock at the door. My mom get up.
She excited, which was beautiful to see, Like, my mom
was so happy. She was so excited that like really
made me.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Feel good because how long have they been talking?

Speaker 1 (01:22):
So I got more understand I got to understand more
about how they initially even met each other. They've been
knowing each other for years before my father was even
married to my mom. Really, like they've been knowing each
other for a long as they grow together. So my
grandma grandmama and his mom knew each other, okay, and
then that's how like they kind of knew each other
like from there. But then he moved to Atlanta, my

(01:44):
mom got married, and then like they didn't really keep
in touch because she was married at that point. This
is a reconnection exactly. So I'm sitting in a lazy boy.
Here a knock at the door. My mom gets giddy.
She goes, I'm like, no, sit out, I got it.
I'm gonna get him at the door. I go to
the side doors. That's typically where she tell people to go.
Go to the side door. He ain't there. I'm like this,
he ain't even here. She's like, he might be at

(02:04):
the front door. I go to the front door. He
ain't at the front door. Now I'm pitsed, like, pick
her damn door. So were you guys going switching?

Speaker 4 (02:12):
I was.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
I went to the side, but like, what other doors are?
Where's it going? It's either the front of the side,
living in the window. So I go to the front door.
He's not there. Now I'm pissed. So I come to
the side door. He comes. I'm like, I wish you
would pick a door. So that's like the first thing
you said it in that tone, Yeah, I might pick
a door. So then he kinda laughing, I'm like, what's
going on?

Speaker 4 (02:31):
Man?

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Give him a nice dad shake and say, I'm okay,
you finally here?

Speaker 3 (02:35):
Huh?

Speaker 1 (02:35):
I was the trip. I was a drum. So now
I'm kind of like, you know, a little aggressive in tone.
So he know, like.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Cap doesn't sound like a like the friendly cab. It
sounds like the if you f with my mom, I'm
gonna kill you for.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
That's that's that's the energy I felt was necessary for
this interaction. So he comes in, I'm like, all right, man,
have a seat. You know, got to tell him to
have a seat. You know, I have a seat. You
know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Picked the seat area? Have you point to what if
he sat in lazy boy? Uhde probably and would be
like I was.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Sitting there, or or allow him to feel comfortable, not
to get his guard down. So you can tay the way.
I think your sister's right, but go ahead and keep going.
You got to ask you some questions. I don't know.
So he sat on and I'm okay, how was the drive?
We get through all of that, and then it started
to be like a little too friendly. So then I
was like, I know for a fact, I said, I
know we're joking and having fun right now, but I
need to be serious with you. You're the dad on

(03:27):
the Bachelor hometown visit. I was like, this is my
mom and you need to be respectful of respectful of her,
respect her, keep her safe, and like I said some
stuff like that, like you know, I guess generic type
of stuff. He's like, I get it. Yeah, my mom
was there and my sister was there, and my sister
like her eyes was like she couldn't believe. I was
talking like this, What did he say to you? Did
he like come back? And he was kind of like

(03:49):
I understand, he's kind of just like then I was
the crazy part. This is where I think my sister,
my cousin Gerar caught Gerard had called me. I was
talking to Gerard, but I'm talking about the guy his
name Marcus. I'm talking about Marcus while he in the
room like he had my mom a little boyfriend here
or whatever. Everything like my mom a little boyfriend in here.

(04:10):
I'm trying to all of it except for that. He
was like, let me go get my gud. He was
kinda just joking. That's it cool Marcus Marcus. So after
that yesterday I did like help. My sister said, you
were being disrespectful, like he's a grown man. You was

(04:32):
talking to him like he wasn't your elder. You gotta
be so I did apologize. I was like, listen, if
I was disrespectful. My sister said, I was disrespectful, I
do apologize. I did not mean to be disrespectful, and
he was like, I get it. If it was my mom.
I completely understand. Didn't show up empty handed or did
he have some grapes or anything?

Speaker 2 (04:50):
He wasn't raised right, He ain't bring the grapes. Did
he bring your mom anything like?

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Not that I think about it, he didn't. He didn't
show up with flowers or nothing like. Nothing that you
saw exactly. I don't know if he had anything in
the car for her, but he didn't come to the
door with anything. Is he staying there or is he
staying at hotel?

Speaker 2 (05:03):
He's saying at a hotel. He's been here for a while.
He doesn't leave until tomorrow. So I like this first off.
I think your mom deserves the best. And I like
what you said about how they know each other. I
think it's wonderful that it's somebody that she grew up with.
I think those connections and reconnections are always great. I'm
glad that she's not, you know, un tender or something
like that. You know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
But your mom is on the phone with us right now.
Good morning, Hello, beautiful.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
Lady, Good morning.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Now are you good?

Speaker 2 (05:30):
The queen has arrived, ladies and gentlemen, and your prince
was just telling us about his interaction with Marcus by
the way Marcus, I hear, is a good looking man.

Speaker 4 (05:42):
Yes he is.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
And how did you feel that your son behaved himself?
Because his sister didn't think he behaved himself.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
I think he did pretty good. Okay, he gave him
some questions until he wanted to tell him.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Yeah, did Marcus make any comments at all when these
guys were away about anything with Kevin?

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Or was he cool with everything?

Speaker 4 (06:11):
He was cool with everything.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
You know.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
We we appreciated the way he conducted himself, and Kevin
even apologized.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
Lia said I was disrespectful. Do you feel like anything
I said or how I presented myself at any moment
during that initial meeting was disrespectful?

Speaker 4 (06:31):
I don't think so.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Well, if you don't think so.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
And now to the second date update here, we're gonna
find out how was How was the date? I like
that he's staying in a hotel, that he's that he's
you know, a gentleman like that. And have you visited
that hotel? Do we have an air Apple air air tag?

Speaker 3 (06:58):
What goes on?

Speaker 1 (06:59):
And ve that's what? That's another thing I told her.
I was like, she a grown ass woman. She could
do what she want to do, but be respectful of
my Mamah.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
Oh yeah, he did say that.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
Has Kevin always been protective like this or is this
is this?

Speaker 4 (07:18):
And he's always protective?

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Kevin?

Speaker 1 (07:21):
Are you happy for your mom? Absolutely? I mean I
might have said this in there. You were so excited
and that warmed my heart because you have been through
a lot, obviously divorcing my dad when he went to jail,
raising us, and you've put a lot of your life
on pause to lift my sister and I up higher
so we could see at a level that maybe you
didn't see. So to see you as happy as you were,

(07:46):
to see this, this string that hasn't been plucked that
sounds nasty, crazy, like you know what I mean, like
as a metaphor, to see this, this part of you
that I haven't seen in a long time, just warmed
my heart. I love to see it. I'm so happy
for you.

Speaker 4 (08:01):
Well, thank you so much. And when Marcus came to
the door, Kevin.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
Said, I'll get it.

Speaker 4 (08:06):
I'll get it.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
At what door? Is he?

Speaker 3 (08:10):
He?

Speaker 1 (08:10):
You know, the front to side like brouh pick a door.
You know what I love? Is I love?

Speaker 2 (08:14):
He changed his voice too, like he went from fun happy,
what's up? Cav to all right, Harry, He deepened his voice.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
A little bit.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
How does it make?

Speaker 2 (08:25):
How does it make you feel knowing that, you know,
for what, Kevin kind of has been the man of
the house with you, you know, with everything. You know
that over the years, like he talked about with his
dad and stuff.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
But how does it make?

Speaker 2 (08:37):
How does it do you like this idea that he's
kind of being protective keV?

Speaker 4 (08:41):
I like the idea, you know. It warms my heart
to know that he loves me so much. And when
Marcus did come into the house, you know, we embraced
and I kind of looked at Kevin and then he
just stood back and he got a smile.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
You know, I love you.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
How did keV was? What's it like to see your
mom happy like this?

Speaker 1 (09:07):
It's beautiful, man, Like I haven't seen her as happy
for a while, and she deserves happy and everybody deserves
love and happiness. So hopefully this is I want her
to move on to Atlanta, get the hell out the city.
No no, no, let's get Marcus up here. Or maybe
we can change the scenery.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
Man, would you ever would you think of that if
if this relationship goes further, would you relocate.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
I've thought about it.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
Yeah, yeah, this is I don't know. I want her
to stay here. Maybe be a snowbird, you go back
and forth or something like that. Yeah, this could be
your thing.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
I love you.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
I love this because I will tell you that I
love the relationship that you have with your children. And
I think it's wonderful when your kids are happy for you.
And it sounds to me like Kevin and Melinda both
are very very happy for you.

Speaker 4 (09:59):
Indeed, Jerry, and I'm so glad that they are.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
Do you guys have a song, by the way, you
and Marcus? Is there a song? And all?

Speaker 4 (10:12):
Well? You know we did go to the Queen of
Legends concert and Stephanie Neills really turned it up.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
Oh okay, okay, do you guys hold Do you guys.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Hold hands when you're at the concert together? Yeah? Kevin,
y'all hold anything else?

Speaker 4 (10:42):
No, Kevin?

Speaker 1 (10:45):
All right, all right? We love you so much, so
happy for you.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
Thank you so much. Mojo and I did I did
wear your T shirt over the weekend.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
All right. Hey, by the way, if you want come
have a talk with Marcus too, we'll go here we go.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
Tell Marcus I know some people in Atlanta too.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
I want to, I say, Marcus, I got some friends
on Peachtree Street.

Speaker 4 (11:10):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
Okay, all right, don't you be messing with my mama here.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
All right. We love you, talking to talk to you.
Bye bye, son, she said, by you, say bye. I
thought she was talking to you.

Speaker 4 (11:24):
I was talking to him.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
I love you, I love your mom.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
