Speaker 1 (00:00):
Mojoe in the morning. You know how there's a topic
that's on the show sheet. Our listeners don't get a
chance to see this. Sometimes you do if you see
Bianca posting our topics for the day, like what are
going to be some of the topics, which, by the way,
you didn't post anything yesterday.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
The story was empty last night. I was looking at it.
What was up with that? I actually thought I did,
but I was just so busy I forgot, but I
did today. Okay, see grace, please, no, I'll give you
a little bit grace.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Sometimes it's okay to forget something, but you got to
keep a clean slate, so that we got a clean
slate going. But sometimes you'll hear us promote a topic,
or we will actually put it on our show sheet
and not get to it, and then we don't get
to it until the pretty much last topic of the week,
and it turns out to actually be a phenomenal topic,
(00:45):
Like it's one that I sit there and say, well,
if we would have done it earlier in the week,
we would have probably not had as good calls on it.
I'm hoping that this one is that Kevin, Yeah, last
topic of the week.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
No so I thought you were going Lydia's Leftovers because
this kind of falls in that. Uh, I want to range.
But so this topic was called what secret are you keeping?
I feel like you have these relationships with people, could
be family members, could be friends, where they confide in you,
they view you as a very trusted individual.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Lock and key.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
I'm gonna tell you something, and it's not gonna go
beyond the conversation that we're having. And one of my
friends confided in me he has pledged Omega Sci Fi.
He's pledged the fraternity. And in my mind, I'm not
in the frat world. I've never pledged or anything. But
you are sworn to secrecy, like it's not something you
(01:35):
supposed to go around and tell people, Like nobody is
literally supposed to know fraternity ross.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Yeah, yeah, you're supposed to not tell people you're pledging
a fraternity.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
Nobody's supposed to know, not even your parents, Like nobody
is supposed to know until you cross. That is when
everybody's aware that I am now whatever it is that
you pledged.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Are you hanging out with college kids? He's this No,
not he my age.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Wait a second, he's a grown ass man and he's
getting in a fraternity.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Is that a problem? That's kind of weird. I didn't
know that was a thing.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
It is a thing in a college fraternity.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
No, No, he's not. He's not taking college courses. But
I think they have alumni chapters. I'm not too versed
in it, but I believe they have.
Speaker 4 (02:11):
The they do, but it's usually unless I mistaken. It's like,
I'm part of the alumni alumni chapter for Kappa alp Theta,
which was a sorority I was in in college. But
it's because I was in it.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Huh, that's a big stepper. What does that mean? What
do you mean college? They step?
Speaker 5 (02:26):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (02:26):
Okay, well, but what I'm saying is but what I'm
saying is like I was in it, so now I'm
like part of the alumnia chapter.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
That's how I thought it works.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
No, so mean again, I'm not as versed in this
frat sorrow world as many other people are. If you
are out there and you know more than I do,
please call in and explain. But he is my age,
and he pledged their fraternity, and a lot of people
do it not so they can have like some wild
college time with their brothers and sisters. Some people do
it for the networking abilities, and I believe that's why he's.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Doing and and he also did not abide by the
rules of keeping it quiet, which correct, you just sold
them out on the air and he might get kicked
out of the atturnity.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
There's a billion people out there and that's probably played.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
So did he tell you about the initiation process?
Speaker 3 (03:11):
Is that what you I didn't ask that far, like
obviously he wasn't he supposed to tell me he plays?
So I didn't want to go deep, deep, deep deep
and start what happens?
Speaker 1 (03:20):
Uh in adult life fraternity? Do you have to go
through a hazing period like this? He have to run naked?
I don't know these answers.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
Let's you look like you're in a chair.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Luke and asked Juice and ask them what are some
of the good hazing things that they could do in
the adult one?
Speaker 2 (03:41):
I would love to see.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
I think Luke had one of them where they had
to run to the capitol and their underwear or something
like that, because if they're in Michigan State and you
know lancing there there was one of them, and then
I think there was another one of them. If I'm
not mistaken where I don't know, and I probably shouldn't
be saying all this stuff because I think that they
can get in trouble for quote unquote hazing. There's no hazing.
By the way, these knowledge colleges Luke had won, they
(04:06):
went to church all together.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
Was crazy.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
That's the Michigan State should Yes, as far as Michigan
State knows, that's yeah, that's fair. They're not allowed to
haze at all in these colleges because they'll get kicked
off of campus if they're if they're known to Hayes.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
What's up, Keelee? How you doing? Hey?
Speaker 5 (04:24):
I just want to come in a little bit in
regards to as we talk about Greek organizations, fraternities, and sororities.
One thing that's very big for the black organizations is
that we do have a luney chapters, so it's not just.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
A college thing.
Speaker 5 (04:38):
We do continue this and continue to do things in
our community.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Very big for us.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
That quick question, Yes, is it a bunch of nerdy
dudes just kind of hanging out talking football or what
is it?
Speaker 5 (04:51):
No, it's not. For the fraternities and sororities for the
most part, we have to be have a college education.
But it's a lot of community service, it's a lot
of doing things back in the community.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
But I gotta tell you if I think, and maybe
it's just the black community that can do it without
the nerd fat I think that if you get a
bunch of white guys together doing the same thing, it's nerdy.
Speaker 5 (05:13):
Maybe some might be nerds, but most or not.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
Okay, what's wrong with nerds unless they're volunteering at the
gleaner's food bank on the weekends or something like that,
doing some good.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
I'm going to make fun of these guys.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
So as an adult, they're not hazing them. He's not
getting hate.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
No, they need to They need to bring the fun
back into Achille.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
You know, Hayzan can be a variety of things.
Speaker 5 (05:36):
I think some things can be very simple, dressed tolike
things like that Big Sisters.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
But would you like times can be taken too far?
Speaker 1 (05:45):
Yeah, Kevin, Kevin, would you like to go out with
a group of guys all dressed in the same outfit and.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
On where were going? What would make it cool?
Speaker 3 (05:56):
It might be a good time. Remember that quality we
had the other day. Dress cool cats and kittens.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
I don't know, I don't want to be doing that
with my buddies. Waldope, you're all dressed on. I don't know, Keiley.
I do find it interesting that we look at fraternities
and sororities on regular college campuses and people will look
at them and go, there's nothing good that happens with
(06:23):
these things. But then people in adult life gain a
lot of networking friendships out of the deal.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
And by the way, I very much disagree with that
during college as well, because I mean, yeah, THEATA for me,
I really met very very good friends, but also scholarships.
It gave me so many scholarships that you know, got
me through college without having to do loans.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
I was the guy that used to make fun of
the fraternity and sorority people until my son got into
fraternity and I saw what it did for him and
the life that he now has with all these guys
that are good friends.
Speaker 5 (06:54):
But I also so let me say something else that
I mean a lot of the organizations we have mentor
mentor groups for those that are in middle school and
high school. Yes, and when you talk about scholarships that
are provided the networking, but also just the concept of
brotherhood and sisterhood and just being there for each other
(07:15):
a lot of times going through some trying times. Financial
aid things are talked about for college, it's just helping
out all the way around. And as we talk about
a lot of things for community service, and that could
be a variety of things. But once, even if you
pledge in college, the goal is that you continue on
with your Lunny chapter. Did Yes, the Sigma Theta sorority
(07:41):
came over ninety two at fair State.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Okay, good question for you. Do you think that any
of these uh fraternities that you know of, would they
accept a white fat DJ.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
From the trick?
Speaker 5 (07:58):
Let me tell you college, you gotta have you gotta
have that education, So let me say that.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
But yes, and it's.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
Not just.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
Can we start our own Kevin, let's start our own? Uh,
I don't think like that, Kevin, Kevin not about to
do that. Didn't they do that in the Old school?
Speaker 4 (08:16):
Didn't he start his own fraternity?
Speaker 2 (08:18):
That was a movie, Shannon, Yes, we're going to do this.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
We're gonna start our own like old school, like Shannon
just saying, and we're going we're gonna run naked and
the qua.
Speaker 5 (08:30):
See that's not that's not how it goes come on, Kevin,
keep teaching them, Keep teaching them.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
Kevin trying. Kevin can't, can't. Kevin can't teach me anything.
He gave out their secrets. He told the story about
his buddy. I said his name though you weren't supposed
to be anybody.
Speaker 5 (08:48):
And let me say this, Kevin, if he shared that
with you, that means he's very close to you that.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
I'm not. I'm not gonna say anything beyond that. I
don't want to say. What is it your man, Keeley?
I will talk to you later. Thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
By the way, why is it that there are certain
things that as a white man that if black people do,
they look cool doing it, But if white guys did it,
we would all make fun of them. If a bunch
of white guys got together and we said, hey, where
are you guys from, Hey, we're from Theta THI thigh
and we're what.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
We would make fun of them.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
But then a bunch of black guys get together and
they got the fraternity, We're like, what's up brother? That No,
but I'm saying grown men. No, I'm saying yeah, movie
Land of land Toland. It'd be like, hey, we're hanging
out to the vf W Hall or
