Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, it is Mojo in the morning. I think
that Bianca is at the right door. Now, I think
we now know Bianca.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
You there, Yes, I'm here.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
How are you Are you with our good special wish
letter writer?

Speaker 3 (00:16):
Yes, I'm here, Good morning, Good morning.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
So those that hear Nicole call the show often and
every now and again have a little funny thing to say.
I mean, actually more than often she has something funny
to say. They don't know what your real job is. Uh,
they only know you by your your your superhero job.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
Okay, right, she is exactly.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
A school administrator, Nicole is, you're the principal of the school.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
I am.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
I'm the proud principal of ao Home, a dps c
D school we serve as children pre k to eighth grade.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
And Nicole reached out for breaking and entering Christmas wish
to tell us that the kids that go to her
school don't have have coats and gloves and boots and
all the rest of that stuff. And as anybody that
is listening that as a parent knows, you get pissed
off when your kids don't bring their coats and boots
and stuff like that home with you. But imagine as
a parent sending your child without it because you just

(01:16):
don't have the means to be able to buy it. Yeah,
and that's got to make you as well as all
the teachers and the parapros. That's going to make you, guys,
really really heartbroken, because these poor kids want to go
outside and have fun in the wintertime.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
Absolutely, And not only is it heartbreaking because they can't
have the winter fun. Any of our kids can even
come to school because some of our kids walk, some
of our kids stand at the bus stop and it's
been cold, and a lot of our children don't have
proper winter attire. We have tried our best to accommodate
them with gently used coats, you know, but it's just

(01:54):
really not enough. And so I reached out to you
guys to help, and you answered the call, and I'm
just so appreciative.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Well, we are appreciative of you because you are such
a great friend us. And are we close to where
the kids are going to be? Because I'm gonna have
Shannon read the letter before you walk in there. I
want to have Shannon read this letter.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Okay, okay, cool, go ahead. All I want the.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Listeners to hear the beautiful letter that was written for
all these kids.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
Dear Mojo in the morning. My name is Nicole Armstrong
and I am the proud principle of Ale Holmes Academy
of Blended Learning and Elementary and Middle School located on
the east side of Detroit. I'm reaching out to see
if you'd be willing to help some of my students
who do not have the proper winter attire to battle
the freezing temperatures that Michiganders face. As winter approaches, the

(02:44):
cold becomes more than just a change in weather for
some of our students. It becomes a daily challenge. Each morning,
our children walk through our doors eager to learn, yet
some do so without the warmth and protection of a
proper winter coat. For many families in our school community,
providing basic necessities is difficult. A warm coat may seem

(03:06):
like a small thing, but for a child, it means comfort, confidence,
and the ability to focus on learning instead of the cold.
No student should have to sit in a classroom shivering
or dreading the walk to and from school. I am
reaching out with hope in my heart and a sincere
request for your support. By donating a new or gently

(03:27):
used winter coat, you can offer more than warmth. You
can offer, dignity, care, and the reassurance that somebody in
their community sees them and cares. Your generosity has the
power to change a child's day, their winter, and their
sense of belonging. I am deeply grateful for your compassion
and continued support of our students and families. Thank you

(03:49):
for helping us ensure that every child in our school
feels warm, safe, and ready to learn this winter. With
heartfelt appreciation. Misfitnical I love.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
It, Nicole.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Wow, they get you when they read the letter. I
know that's not.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Nichole is the greatest. She loves I love you.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
She can break that fourth wall down like better than
any I want you to know something called in your letter.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
You said something.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
You said something about how maybe we can get together
with some listeners and get some gently used. There ain't
nothing about gently used that we want to be part of.
Here on the Mojo in the Morning, our great, our
great donors to the Mojo in the Morning, breaking and
entering Christmas Wish program year after year always will tell me,
whatever you do, if you're going to grant a wish,

(04:42):
do it for children, because this is the spirit of
the season and they want kids to be able to
enjoy it. So this is what we're doing for you
and for all of these kids. Every one of these
children at Ale Holmes Academy of Blended Learning on Detroit's
East Side is getting a a winter coat so that
they can go home warm today. And I want Lydia

(05:05):
to walk in because we got extra surprises for them.
Are they like in an area where we can talk
to all of them?

Speaker 3 (05:09):
Yeah, we're gonna go in right now, ready, yes, all right, yeah, all.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Right, I'm gonna.

Speaker 3 (05:16):

talk to them.

Speaker 1 (05:28):

Speaker 2 (05:29):
All right, where's the microphone?

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Do you have the microphone?

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (05:34):
All right, let's get the microphone.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
We're gonna get okay, going we lost the microphone.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
We had lost the microphone. That's all right. I got
a loud voice. I can make I scream loud.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
All right.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
We can get everyone to be quiet, and then we
can I want to hear nic.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
I think we can. I love when Nicole yells at me.
I want to.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
Everyone on FILA. All right, wow, hi everyone nice.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
All right, We need you guys.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
To be extra quiet.

Speaker 4 (06:08):

the Morning.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
And we have a little special guest and surprise for you.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
He has Mojo from Ojo in the Morning on the phone.
Right now.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
You guys got to be extra quiet because he's going
to say something really cool. Okay, all right, go ahead, Mojo.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Hey kids, Hi guys, how you doing.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
I wanted to tell you that your principal, Nicole, told
us that you guys have done an amazing job of
listening to your teachers, working hard and making sure that
your work is always turned in and always thrown showing
that effort that you guys all have at Ale Holmes
Academy of Blended Learning. And so from our family here

(06:49):
on Mojo in the Morning to your family there at
Ale Holmes Academy of Blended Learning, each one of you
kids is going to go home today with a brand
new coat so that you can keep warm and make
sure that you guys have the opportunity to play outside.
But more importantly than that, you guys are all getting

(07:10):
a gift card so that you guys can buy whatever
thing that you want for Christmas that's on your Christmas
list from the Mojo in the Morning Show.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
It could be a toy, it could be a stuffy,
it could be shoes. Whatever you want, you get to
spend that gift card.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Okay, are you guys excited?

Speaker 2 (07:28):
That's awesome. Guys.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
I think they're a little soccer now.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
All the faces are so amazing.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
You guys are getting coat and gift cards and so
many things for Christmas.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
Nicole asking all the principal questions, Lydia, will you tell
everybody how much the value is fifty? Every kid's going
to get a fifty dollars gift card, so all these kids.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
So that's so tall.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
I was so excited right now.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
This is amazing.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
And Nicole Hay, Nicole, I want to ask you this
question because you've talked to me numerous times. You've told me,
you've told me many times about how fulfilled you feel
being a principal, But you also told me how much
it is difficult because you want to take every one
of these kids home with you.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
What is it about these kids that are so special?
You know?

Speaker 3 (08:26):
I see myself, I see myself and the children. You know,
I grew up my mother worked hard, but I grew
up in a rough poverty areas, but I still went
to school.

Speaker 4 (08:41):
And when I look at.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
These kids, I just see their potential because I had
teachers and educators that cared about me, and I just
want to do the time for them.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
Well, you're doing it. You're changing lives, and you and
all your great educators.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
There are going to give me a last gift card.

Speaker 4 (09:01):
You can switch it just like that.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
I'm going to take care of you.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
You know what the world needs more Nicoles. We love
you so much, beautiful lady. I love you, and I
love those kids. And can those kids all make some noise?
