Speaker 1 (00:12):
Oh, this is a perfect song for what we're going
to talk about here next. I'm getting a side hustle broke,
so I don't have enough to do in my life.
I'm gonna get a job as a bartender.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Oh hell yeah, like like a go go dancer bartender.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
No no, no, no, no no.
Speaker 4 (00:35):
Could you imagine I'm gonna do like I'm gonna be
like the bartender that you tell all your problems to
and just write writes down information and then uses these
topics for the mojo in the morning show the following week.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
Would that not be a great job to have? Yeah? Job,
I'm wich, I'm wich.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
This this Friday night is a special charity event in
memory of our great friend Tom killer Kowalski, who actually
was one of our great people that work on WDFN
when that radio station honestly should have never gone off
the air. Might have been the biggest mistake that this
(01:20):
company has ever made, was to allow ninety seven to
one to get their own sports station. But we had
Killer Kowalski that worked with us, and every time in
the hallways I would see him all the time.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
We used to go to the bathroom at the same time.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
And he would say, what you guys talking about this morning?
Lots of girl stuff. I would say, yeah, Killer, we're
talking about girl stuff, and he loved it. He would
come in and hang out with us and we would
talk lions and that was when the line. Could you
imagine how Killer would have been if with the lions
the way they are right now?
Speaker 2 (01:52):
Every year he was happy just to say eight and eight, right,
I know that's it, and he'd be happy.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Would let me introduce who's in the studio with us
this morning. You guys have heard him before on our show.
He's always been a great supporter of ours. The man
is the man, the myth legend who anytime I see him,
I always say, what's the discount I can get.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Him at Carl's golf Land. Neil Feleman is in with.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Us right now, and beautiful bride by the way, Can
I just say this, Thank god you actually brought her
this time.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
I told her yesterday I said, you gotta you know,
you gotta come.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
I know.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
She was like, why you were more messed? He brought
in some social media dude. I was like, I don't care.
This guy gets you one hundred thousand hits on your
social media account.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Neil, that's our director of content.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
The director of content.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
Okay, so so Neil Neil is is part of the Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Tom used to do a Christmas party at a very
small probably about the size of this UH studio bar
and Keego Harbor called the brew House. And Tom never
wanted Tom loved kids and he never wanted to see
a kid go without a Christmas. So he started this
(03:13):
Christmas party every year and the owner of the bar
gave him half of the proceeds, and I donate. I
was a Red we season ticket holder. I'd give him that.
And Woe Joe and Stony and a bunch of the
of the Mickey Redman would show up at this little
podunk bar and Tom would win end up making four
(03:33):
or five thousand dollars which he would donate to a
place called Our Children's Fund of West Bloomfield and they
gave Christmas gifts to kids that in Keego Harbor and
West Bloomfield that didn't have enough to have a Christmas,
which is something you was very hard for me to
understand that someone some child in West Bloomfield Tons. So
(03:59):
Tom passed way fourteen years ago and a bunch of
us friends of his, Woody Woodriff, Matt Riley, so on
and so forth. We said we're going to do this
one more time in Tom's honor. And it was crazy.
I mean people were walking in. First of all, you
couldn't move. So some people are walking in, handed money
(04:21):
to people and leaving because there was nowhere to go.
And we ended up raising about twenty five thousand dollars.
Speaker 4 (04:28):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Since then, now going into our fifteenth year, fourteenth year,
we've raised over a million dollars. We raised one hundred wow,
forty three thousand last year just at this one night
at the Lodge, Grill and Bar in Keego Harbor on
Orchard Lake.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
Roads Nacho's in America. There was one year my Stuart Saqua,
my tax guy, said to me, he goes, I'm looking
at receipts.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
Why do you keep putting resilts down?
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Because I would go there all the time and I
would hang out and we'd I'd bring listeners and all
this stuff.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
I'm like, can I rate this stuff off? What is
going on? Let's help me out with this. But it
was always a lodge.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
So the event kept getting bigger and bigger. We had
to move it unfortunately from the brew House to somewhere bigger,
which is which is the Lodge.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Yeah, and the Grouse is still there, yeah, yeah, And.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
The owners of of the Lodge are gracious enough to
give us the entire building and.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
It's got, you know in the stuff.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
First off, there's a ton of in we're in a second,
we'll talk about some of the names of people that
are going to be there because I always, I always
it's kind of cool when listeners of ours come out
to these things and people will do something. But then
I see how many people love Drew and Mike that
you know, Drews on Drews Got one of the most
popular podcasts. They're huge fans of Drew and Mike. So
(05:49):
and then all these Red Wings guys that will come,
you know, current players to to the you know, the
legends and stuff that will come and work the bar.
But then they have so many prizes and so many
things there and they do it for Killer.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
I mean, people, what a legacy like that is incredible?
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Tom Killer COWALSI was one of the best writers reporters
on air sports guys. He knew Lions better than probably
the Ford family knew the Lions, and he was the
only guy that could tell mister Ford, what the hell
are you doing? Get away with it and not get
his credentials taken away from him.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
Yeah, and uh, you know, it's a small group of
us that you know, we're five oh one to three
c we're legitimate charity and we have no expenses whatsoever.
So you know, some printing costs here and there, but
you know, all the money we raise every year goes directly.
He had to four basic children's charities in town that
(06:46):
that we support. And then every now and then we
get hit up from you know, someone that needs a
ramp put in their house or things like that. So
it's just.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
Who are some of the guys that are going to
be first of all, who's working. I'm going to be
there at seven o'clock.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
He always needs to know who he's going to be
and shoulders with.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Because I want Amy Andrews.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
I want better play her story.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
She said, you better play her story.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
We'll play We'll do it tiny news and I will
playask your dupe next door?
Speaker 2 (07:11):
Amy. The event starts at six okay, and goes till
they throw everybody out Tomorrow night, Tomorrow night, Friday night,
and there's free valet parking because you know, parking in
that area is kind of tough sometimes. So you know
we uh, we have a sponsor that pays for the valet,
so you guys don't have to worry about parking. People
show up. It's it's a quick, easy in and out.
(07:33):
Amy's there six to seven, okay, so she'll be leaving
as you you know what. I'm coming early. Then I'll
hang out. Let's see who Mojo's with. Dave Rosma, oh
my god, Mickey Redman, who's always a woody woodruff who
normally closes this year. What he said, you know, I'd
like to be there when there's you know, sober people.
(07:57):
Larry Murphy, uh, another legend legend, red Wing Braillen Edwards.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
And Lady I was like, all these dudes like we're
the ladies now.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
You know what, though, it will be good.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
The ladies hopefully will be our listeners that will show
up there and drink and go crazy.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
And I never charge you for drinks.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
Honestly, the lodge people get because I don't know how
to work anything. I'm like I say, I say the
guy will get, the guy will already go. Yeah, I'll
take uh I'll take two, you know, you know, whatever,
the bats and I'll go, okay, great, I'll pour him
the little bats. I try to make sure that there's
no big head on the thing. And then the guy
give me a hundred dollar bill, Go great, and I
put it right into the budget.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
So all the all tips that are made that night
go go to the charity. And you know, most of
the employees that are working donate their time and their
money to the charity. It's just it's just it's an
incredible thing, and it's you know, it's all for the kids,
which makes it even better. And we've got some really
great raffle silent auction item one of which uh, two
(09:02):
of which were donated by I hear, which is great.
A court side four seats and a court side suite
for the Pistons, which is pretty new and pretty cool.
I guess no one in the NBA has something.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
Oh yeah, none, very few in Cable.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
Uh. You spend so much time with people there. They
got some lion stuff too, I saw it.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
That's amazing football uh from Dan Campbell and one from
Jared Golf autographed.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
And we have again, through the through the goodness of
of iHeart four people. Can uh bid on coming in
here to the studio with you guys and drink and
drink some bourbon.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
I love that you brought in for us campaign. But yeah,
order how do I get invited to Bartend next year
with some of the single young.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
It's done. If you want to, Uh, We'll call Matt
after the show here and we will put you on
the schedule for Tom Matt.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
By the way, Matt. Matt is a guy who I
will say this.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
I met Matt years ago through Jeff Saqua, and Matt
is a guy who's helped us out as a show.
I know, I know he and Drew are personally like
best friends. And he I remember him saying something to
me one time. He said because I said to him,
my go listen, we're nothing to you know, Dream Mike,
Drew Mike are the are the legends. I mean, they're
Hall of famers and and he goes, I think you
(10:39):
guys are going to be good. I think you're gonna
make it like you gave us one of those things.
This was years ago, like we were on the air
for like a year or two, and I honestly I
took it as a huge compliment because he knows so
many people in this town, everybody.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
I mean, I thought I knew a lot of people,
and Matt dwarfs me. I mean, it's crazy.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
Well listen, Neil, thank you for coming in. Neil Feldman. Uh,
Carl's golf land and I did on something to Carl,
like Carl's any good Carl stuff or no.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
Actually we do.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
We do a cash sponsorship everything doing it in memory
of Carl Rose.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
So Carl, and by the way, Carl, you know, God
rest his soul. But man, that guy was a guy
that gave to so many of the kids in the
area too.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
He did, he did stuff.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
You know, we talked, I think the last time that
you were in about the fact that he would do
stuff and he never wanted to be recognized.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
I've never told anybody what he was doing. Yeah, I
mean it was you know, that's just just how he was,
which was really great.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
We're gonna have fun Friday Tomorrow night. It's gonna be fun.
God tonight, Calvi and I are going to the Lions
game tonight.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
Excellent.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
Yeah, we are going to be a wreck tomorrow. I'm
going to be a wreck tomorrow night in the morning.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
So you'll you'll work your way through that.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
I gotta look good for Amy Andrews. We'll be right
back
