Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, it's Mojo on the morning show phone number
eight four to four Mojoe Live.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
The text nine to five to five zero zero.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
If you do hear something on the air that reminds
you of a story, make sure that if you text us,
you pick up your phone because Lydia is going to
call you to come on the radio with us.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Shannon, when your name caused an.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Issue, Well, all of this drama over the weekend with
Shador Sanders and the draft made me think and his
dad for that matter, but just made me think about
how family members that lead another that go first before
other family members in anything.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Let's explain that story. Cool career.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
Okay, so Deon Sanders obviously Hall of Fame football player,
some respect. Guys got, you know, a very successful couple
of kids that played for him at Colorado.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
His kid was in the draft.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
They projected him to be one of the top three
picks in the first round.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
He got pushed down to what was it the sixth
frown or fifth rowne? Was it fifth or six?

Speaker 1 (01:02):
So he got pushed down and didn't get taken later
and a lot of people claim that it was because
of bad interviews that he had and that he seemed
like he had too big of an ego. Many people
also assumed that his dad played a part in this
because the rumor, you know, his dad was obviously somebody
that had a big mouth and when he played, but
he backed it up. And I think that there was

(01:24):
a lot of people that thought that dad was also
going to do that with his kid now as a pro.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
So, yes, this is actually an.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
Interesting There are always just preconceived notions, right, and so
my question to you is have you ever been treated
better or differently because of your name, your parents' name,
your siblings name, your name. And it made me think
about like, you guys know this and you make fun
of me incessantly for it. I was such a goody

(01:51):
goody growing up elementary, middle, high school, and so I
think one, I'm the oldest of three girls. So once
I went through school and then they see my sister
show up with the same last name, they know that
she's they expect her to be like me, and we
are very opposite personalities.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
And see, I would think that that would be easier
to follow than what my son Jacob had to follow.
And his brother Joe, who was as dumb as rocks
and uh, and a troublemaker in school. Jacob used to
When Jacob went to Notre Dame Prep, he would go
into classes and they would go are you Are you
Joe's brother?

Speaker 2 (02:31):
And he would go, no, I don't even know him.
That's exactly what I mean.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
But I think that in your case, there's a preconceived
notion because of who your sibling is.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
I think that your sisters had it actually not that
bad because they go, oh, yeah, I got another student
that's you.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Know, like she well, then they got my sister Emily,
and they're like, oh, okay, she's different.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
And then they got my.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
Sister Jacqueline, who is kind of a combination of the
two of us. Weepel like, she's maybe right in the middle,
but so she evened it out for everybody.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
Did your sister follow in your footsteps? Kah No, in
a bit of a rebel bro. But I was always
the man. So I don't know how that. I'm just
I'm just saying, homecoming King, I just.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Did my friend. Why does it not surprise? Is good?

Speaker 1 (03:18):
You know, it's interesting with this shoot or Sanders thing.
First off, we're gonna talk a bunch of the dirty about.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
This next dirty, we will. I mean it set, but
he had the party he threw with all the cash.
That was the problem. I think. I don't think so.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
I think him throwing like this his party and doing
it live streaming on Twitch and him kind of yeah,
being like a little bit arrogant two things. And I'm
it's no doubt the guy's got talent, but I don't
think he has his dad's talent. And I think that
it comes to a situation where some of these teams
were taking quarterbacks, Like I saw a couple of the

(03:56):
teams taking quarterbacks.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
I never even heard of these guys. But here's the thing.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
He's not the first athlete to celebrate getting drafted. Let's
not act like he invented going to the club and
throwing money. Let's let's stop there. Secondly, let's not act
like ninety nine percent of the athletes that got drafted
are going to be Hall of famers. It just doesn't
work like that. So comparing him to his father, who's
arguably the greatest cornerback that ever played the game, isn't

(04:21):
a fair comparison. They just don't like how loud his
dad is, and.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
People don't like people who show off. And flashy and
talk that talk.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
But again similar to his father, he talked it and
backed it up, and there was a reason why he
was projected top threes because he's a good athlete.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Here's what I heard.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
One of the problems was I heard a guy on
one of the blog sites or whatever say his dad,
Dion Sanders said, I want to coach my son in
pros and when there's a draft, the coach has a
say so on who they're going to pick. And no
coach wants to have a dad that tries to become

(04:56):
the coach, like he doesn't.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
They don't want that.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
And I think a lot of the coaches, including you
know a Hall of fame coach, that Pittsburgh coach what's
his name, that's Mike Mike Tomlin, who was like, I
don't want Dion Sanders in my coaches room.

Speaker 4 (05:10):
So in March, Dion just signed a five year, fifty
four million dollar contract to coach at Colorado.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
Right, but he hid that in a second like Bill
Belichick and go to college or what's going on eve high?

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Hey, Well, my son got in trouble at high school
for making a meme about the assistant principal and He
got off easier because his oldest sisters were in the
National Honor Society.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
One of them was the president.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
Of the National Honor Society.

Speaker 5 (05:40):
Okay, so they saved his bacon big time.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
I like that. That's actually interesting.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
So having a very smart, nice sister pays off in
this case.

Speaker 5 (05:53):
Huh yeah, yeah, because oh my god, he literally he
could have gotten in a world of trouble.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
Yeah. Fortunately the school knew our family well enough from
his sisters that they went easier on him than if
they If he.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Had been the oldest, he would have been in a
lot of trouble.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Shannon's case, there's three of them. In my case, we
had six, so I had I was the baby of six,
so I had to follow the progression of six. My
problem was my brother, who is the closest in age
to me. He got kicked out of the high school
that I went to. And the reason he got kicked
out Bill Bill got kicked Bill got kicked out of

(06:36):
Merris High School and he got kicked out for threatening
to fight the teacher.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Who I ended up having my sophomore year.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
So I go into to Coach Swanson's class and Coach
Swanson sees my name on the list, and actually it
was funny because my mom had passed, so my dad
was kind of like, you know, single parenting me for
that time. And I remember saying to my dad, is
there any way you can get me onto that class?
My dad like, no, You're going to go to the class.
And honestly, the teacher was actually pretty cool today for

(07:06):
good reason. See, my mom was sick and dying of
cancer at the time, and he told my brother Bill
that he was lying.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
About my mom.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Wow, my mom being sick and dying because my brother said, Hey,
I couldn't do this because my mom is dying, and
you know, we were you know whatever, and he said
an excuse and the guy goes, yey, you're probably lying
about that. My brother walked up in the front of
my brother was like a crazy taekwondo black belt, like
he was nuts. I mean when I say nuts, he
was nuts, but he was a taekwondo or so. He

(07:35):
was also very you know, uh, you beat somebody's ass.
And he got up there and kicked the guy in
the head. He did a roundhouse. Hell yeah, Bill, If
you never met my brother Bill literally black Bill, Bill, just.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Don't meet him in Alley. He's one of those guys.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
He's one of those guys that's he's lovable, but he's
also nuts.

Speaker 4 (07:58):
Why didn't you say taekwondo? Could you think I can
lift my leg over? My name?

Speaker 2 (08:03):
Taekwon? Doll me? I couldn't figure that out?

Speaker 1 (08:09):
A four four Mojo Live A four four six six
five six five four eight text nine five five zero zero.
Do we have listeners today? All right, we're calling this quits.
We're going to go to breakfast right now.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
We're imagine if we did that? Do we not extreme
lovel tweets? I'm so hungry? Do we not explain, like
what the topic is to get a call on this?

Speaker 4 (08:28):
It was like the second it was a great time.
This is a great topic. How is it?

Speaker 1 (08:31):
How did your name or how did the you know
the the sibling or or your parents maybe even whither
or help you because of the name that you have,
Like how did that happen?

Speaker 2 (08:42):
I mean, I want to I want to hear some
of these stories.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
My favorite is the texture who says Lydia must have
called them a couple of times because they sent a
good uh, a good example of this and it says sorry,
can't talk there's a crane making noise. Is it a
bird or is it or an actual crane crane?

Speaker 2 (09:01):
That your great disappointment though because of your siblings, Like
my brother was so great that I was a disappointment. Really,
You're not a disappointment, it really was. I was a
bad kid, that is the way. Come on.

Speaker 5 (09:13):
My brother got three years of college done by the
time he graduated high school and was just like super smart,
who was a varsity athlete, Like he was super popular,
he was super cool.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
And then I came in and I was just a menaces.

Speaker 5 (09:25):
So every teacher came in with the hopes of ME
being like this great kid, and then they were so
annoyed by week three.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
But I see, I don't see you being a menace.
I see that maybe you're not one to finish college.
That that that fast I look at. I want to
know what the Megan was. Maybe this is the last
week we find out the truth behind Meghan.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
I want. I want some of her high school classmates.
We actually heard teachers call this.

Speaker 4 (09:48):
Because I love Megan's teacher said that you were a
bright spot to her day.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
Teachers either loved me or hated me. I was very polarized.
I don't know why I still feel like you owdored
in your brother? Why significantly older? We're not even closing.
H what's on Crystal High?

Speaker 3 (10:07):
I've had this sober time long time?

Speaker 2 (10:14):
What's going on?

Speaker 1 (10:17):
In high school?

Speaker 2 (10:18):
Boys were scared to talk to you when they found
out who my brother was by our last name. Why
is he like a guy that would be? He was,
you know, he was like a sports guy and everything.
So when they found out, they were like, oh, I
can't talk to you. You touch my sister, I'll beat
your ass. One of those type of things.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
Pretty much. Probably that is something that's good. He should
be that way. He should actually make sure that keeps
those boys away from you. What's going on, Kate?

Speaker 2 (10:45):
How you doing good? How are you good? Oh? This
is an interesting one. What do you do when you
got a twin?

Speaker 4 (10:51):
Hi?

Speaker 2 (10:52):
Tell us that story?

Speaker 4 (10:54):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (10:55):
So I have air and we were like poster.

Speaker 5 (10:58):
For like this strength, so like get us fired up.
And he had like an abbreviation for cusswords and we
didn't think anything of it. We got called down to
the office. My sister was waiting for me, and then
as soon as I got there, she was like oh, Kate, like,
don't go take them down?

Speaker 4 (11:16):
And I got let off and.

Speaker 5 (11:19):
Never been called out of the office with their senior
year and Jewels had been sitting there waiting and because
like with.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
Me, which was which twin was the bad twin? You
were them? Are you are your sisterol o Jewel? Jewel?
You bad person?

Speaker 1 (11:33):
You She's probably gonna call us up next and go
for a second. That's not how I remember, April.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
What's up?

Speaker 1 (11:40):
Hi?

Speaker 5 (11:40):
Good morning, guys, Good morning. So I have three older brothers,
and growing up they were not very good, law abiding
a citizen.

Speaker 3 (11:51):
Growing up, so.

Speaker 5 (11:54):
It was fun being the little sister and because nobody
ever messed with me because they you know, they had
our he made a name for themselves and then they
knew I was the baby. So then, but when I
started dating boys is when I started noticing that being
known as the little sister anymore was not very cool
because nobody really ever wanted to date me.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
But even more so when I.

Speaker 5 (12:16):
Got into high school, they wouldn't recognize the last name
and they would immediately ask are.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
We going to have any issues?

Speaker 2 (12:23):
And I would have to say no.

Speaker 5 (12:26):
And then when I started driving in the town that
I grew up in I would get pulled over and they,
I mean, it seemed like every top knew the last name,
and it would be an automatic search sometimes.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
Oh all the time every time.

Speaker 5 (12:44):
And I was young and nervous, so like I would like,
I would just start to freeze every time I'd get
pulled over, so I would immediately say go ahead, because
I didn't want any.

Speaker 2 (12:54):
Get I would take everything out of my car. At
that point, it would be a.

Speaker 5 (13:00):
Oh my god, I actually have an aunt, an aunt
who works for the school district, the high school that
we all went to. So Ever, so they noticed some
people that still actually that work at the school that
I went to school with now work at that school,
and they recognize the last name, and they're like, are
you related to something? Oh no, And then she would

(13:22):
have to admit.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
The aunt, that's unreal.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
God, the brothers that were the criminals are causing problems
for everybody. Listen to this one, Tiffany. This is the
most infamous of any of the stories that we could get.
People were afraid of you because tell everybody of your
famous uncle or relative.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
Yeah, my uncle is Jimmy Hoffa.

Speaker 5 (13:46):
Oh. People were like being mean to me or something.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
I would be like, my uncle is Jimmy Hoffa.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
Now, Tiffany, I got to ask you, where do you
think your uncle really is? Is he alive?

Speaker 4 (14:02):
I honestly no, he's not alive, but I've always I
don't think he is.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
But I feel like he's buried in like.

Speaker 4 (14:07):
The cements back like where the bridges and stuff was
going Detroit, because that was all going on at the time.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
Wow, there'd be like no way to not know.

Speaker 1 (14:14):
So when you go Tiffany Hoffa, there, I mean, they're shocked.
The last name alone, that is that's insane. Wow, unreal.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
God. Well, I'm sorry, but what happened to your uncle?
You know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (14:28):
Yes, my name, my name is Mojo shakur My my
dad is Tupac
