Speaker 1 (00:00):
I can't believe it yesterday, What a difference that day makes.
Yesterday I was already counting how many friends of mine
had tickets to go to see the Tigers play this year,
and who would have playoff tickets and take me to
the Alds, only to realize that they lost the game

(00:21):
yesterday in tragic form, and possibly if they lose today,
their season is over. With the Tigers blew it yesterday,
i want to talk real quick about something and tell
me if you guys think that I'm crazy on this,
and if I'm not, you know, completely crazy, I'm going
to call this guy this morning on the air. Yesterday

(00:44):
in the bottom of the eighth inning is when the
Tigers blew it.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
You were watching the game because we were texting, absolutely.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
So bottom of the eighth inning, you know, the whole
thing collapse. And I'm texting with our group tax here
Mojo in the morning. I'm texting with a couple of
buddies of mine that are huge Tigers fans and friends
of mine.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
I'm texting with a buddy named Chad.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
My buddy name Chad sends me the most angry text
ever in the two words are spoiler alert. He gets
all upset with me because I go, I can't believe
they just blew this game, and.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
He says, spoiler alert.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
I have the game DVR ing at home, and I'm
gonna watch it when I get home. And I wasn't
trying to see what happened during the game. All right,
explain something to me. Can you DVR a sporting event?

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (01:40):
No, well you can't.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
I got any ready for your answer?

Speaker 1 (01:45):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Wait, go ahead? Yes? Why do you say absolutely?

Speaker 3 (01:48):
If I'm not in a position to watch it because
I have an event I got, you know, something going
on that prevents me from an experience in it live,
then yeah, I'm gonna watch that when I get home.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
But you can't expect that people aren't gonna tell you
what happened during the game.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Yeah for sure. Well, I mean I guess maybe he h,
I don't know. You gotta at that point, it's like
I can understand if he's I'm not gonna be on
social media.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
I'm gonna put my phone on do not disturb.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
I'm gonna turn off my alerts if I got like
Google alerts or ESPN.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
He probably had.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
His his feel safe in place to check all those boxes,
but he forgot the Mojo bucks.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Yes, oh yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
When I hear people, When I hear people DVR like
things like the Super Bowl, I'm like, are you really
gonna go back and watch it?

Speaker 2 (02:36):
You know?

Speaker 1 (02:37):
I mean, I maybe you want to like watch the
halftime performance all over again, or you want to watch
the I don't know, singing of the national anthem or
something like that, or you want to see a commercial
or two again.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Okay, I get it, but you can't.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Like say, I'm gonna DVR the game and then I'm
gonna go back and I'm gonna watch it at a
time when i have more time to watch, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
Y'all used to do that all the time, when y'all
used to record on VHS and rewatched a You've definitely
done that before.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
By the way, don't call me an old head without
calling me an old one, am I line you no, But.

Speaker 4 (03:09):
Do we get for a specific show? To me is
very different to actually like watch the show and you
can avoid I feel like spoilers harder now with social media,
but a game, it's like it's being talked about everywhere
in real time, you know, radio, TV, online, you see
it everywhere.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
I actually did I. Well, I will say this to you.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
I was recording a couple of different sporting events, but
it was only because I was watching it at the
time recording it. I recorded the Malice at the Palace. Okay, okay,
So I recorded that game. I was watching that game
out of Friday night sitting at home, in which, by
the way, was the best thing to record.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Because I'm rewinding that crap like crazy.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
And I recorded the Cubs winning the World Series against
Cleveland back in sixteen.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
So those are a couple of things, and I'm happy
I did it because I was a lifelong Cub fan
and I still am a lifelong Cub fan.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
All fairness and go Tigers.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
Obviously, I love the Tigers beat the White Sox all
the time because as a Cub fan, I hate the
White Sox.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
Cubs in it right now.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Cubs blew it yesterday too, similar fashion, no game, they
got exactly what the Tigers have. They got to win today,
but they're at home. So they got a win today
against San Diego at home. But Manny Machado hit a
bomb yesterday.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
I know that name. Manny was the man. What's up, Keith,
how you doing?

Speaker 5 (04:26):
Cubs?

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Baby, Yes, go Cubs go. What's going on? Keith? What
do you what do you think about that? What do
you think about the taping the game?

Speaker 5 (04:34):
I also, by myself have that World Series in DVR
because unlike my brothers, I didn't get to go. But
if you don't DVR the game, how are you going
to see yourself on Friday's club game? The stretch?

Speaker 1 (04:51):
Well? You know what that? Can I tell you something
that's interesting? Why were you saying? Do you sing this
seventh thing stretch?

Speaker 2 (04:56):
There?

Speaker 5 (04:57):
Yeah? I was calling on TV singing it quotes yesterday
and tag you guys on Instagram?

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Did you really?

Speaker 1 (05:04):
I'll check it out hey, real quick, Keith, I'm gonna
ask you a quick question about uh to tell what
you got me? You got me on something? I was
gonna say something. No, no, if you're gonna but here's
Cabs Cavs right in the whole. If you're going to
record a game, then you got to go off the grid, right,
You just cannot turn anything on until you get home

(05:26):
and you're going to watch.

Speaker 5 (05:28):
Yeah, No, you gotta shut the phones out. You got
to go on airplane mode.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
You can't correct.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
What's some crazy crap that you guys record, Like what
do you guys record? Many of you guys, you guys
are streaming services.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
I was going to say, I have, like do you have.

Speaker 4 (05:42):
It where you could put something in a library so
anytime the episode airs, it goes up in a special place,
like I do that with Dateline. Any dateline that's an
NBC or Oxygen goes in there. What do you have
YouTube TV or what do you have YouTube TV?

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Okay, you can.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
DV though you can report, Okay, yeah, I'll never do it,
though it's nothing that I'll watch like that.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Do you ever record any of the Pistons games so
you can watch yourself at all?

Speaker 3 (06:04):
The only way I can see myself as if I
watch it on NBA League Pass because League Pass shows
all the time outs and all this stuff.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
That the best is if you have NBA League Pass
or if you have I think it's Prime.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
I think on Amazon Prime.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
I think if you get the NBA games on there,
the commercials go on and they don't play commercials during
the game, and all you hear is Kevin at the
games here like oh my god. So when we will
watch games and sometimes locally you don't I don't get it,
but if I'm down in Florida, I'll listen and I

(06:37):
can hear Kevin's whole thing going.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
On d v R, and I'll come to Florida. I
didn't even know DVR was still a thing. No, what
is it called now? Is it?

Speaker 4 (06:47):
I used to be called TV, wasn't it. I still
remember that little noise I got it with me.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Hold about a second, you're ready for it? Here you go, Shannon,
I got a t VO still in the studio?

Speaker 2 (06:56):
Hair, Yes, do you remember that?

Speaker 5 (06:59):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (06:59):
One.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (07:01):
When I was younger, I remember, we would record stuff
simply so we could fast forward past the commercials.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
So yeah, I'll start recording it and then start watching it. Okay,
that's actually a great point. I will say this to you.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
The best is when you're watching, Like if Chelsea and
I are watching ninety Day Fiance, we will wait on
ninety Day Fiance for twenty minutes, so it's like nine
to twenty. We start watching it and then we finish
exactly at the same time.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
But we've never watched one commercial during the whole Can
I tell you something though?

Speaker 4 (07:28):
Some of the streaming services are putting ads in there
that you can't fast forward through and it's driving me nuts.
They're not super long, but it's still like fifteen or
twenty seconds of an AD and I always it's just
like your reaction to grab your controller and try to
fast forward, and I'm like doing it when you can't
do it.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Like I pay the premium price so I don't have
to watch the ad and there's still some on there now.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
By the way, I'm not going to talk about this
because I was listening to our podcast this week and
like how many commercials. By the way, please thank you
to our advertisers. We love you very much. Yikes, but

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
