Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome back to Eve Sports Radio. It is January the ninth,
twenty twenty five. It's Thursday in the Louisville area. My
phone number is five zero two five seven one seventy
nine hundred. That's five zero two five seven one seventy
nine hundred. We got Shannon behind the glass waiting for
your calls. I've got my younger son, Anthony Eves, and

(00:24):
I sitting in with you. Anthony, welcome back are you.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
I'm doing fantastic. How are you this morning?

Speaker 1 (00:31):
And I slept like a baby last night. I didn't
get up to use the bathroom, and that's what old
people do. I slept like a rock. So I'm doing
really well. I woke up at about five ten Anthony
wide awake, ready to go. So I've been ready. I've
really been ready today. I don't know what happened yesterday,
but I slept like a baby. I don't even think

(00:52):
I rolled over. Its crazy, so sometimes maybe I just
was busy yesterday, but I didn't do that much. But anyway,
let's get away from that. I'm doing great. So let
me tell you what ant We know that the weather's dicey.
People are going to work side roads are still bad.
They're trying to get those plows to Just make sure
that you're patient with each other and be safe. You

(01:15):
know that we've got another snowstorm coming in. Snowstorm coming
in Friday night, so again Saturday morning, three to five inches,
which is a large sum on a regular snow day,
but what we've had the last week and have three
to five inches seems like a dusting. But we're gonna
have another snowstorm, so we just have to make sure
that we're ready. Make sure that you keep your water

(01:37):
dripping in your sinks upstairs, any outside pipes you may have,
make sure that you take the hoses offside the spickets
outside your home. Do not leave the hoses on. It
will burst your spickets, so make sure you take those off.
They're just things you have to do to win arise
your house. And make sure you leave your cabinets open
underneath so that the warmth from the house can get

(01:58):
to the pipes. Things you should do. So a lot
of tips, they've had them all over the news the
last three or four days, but I just want people
to be cognizant to the things that you can do
to try to save you some grief. Because water pipe's bursting.
There is no fun in the wintertime, trust me. So anyway,
that's what we've got going on. Games have been being played.

(02:20):
My siblings College Falcons have a game Saturday against Wilberforce
and that games still on. So things aren't being canceled
as we speak. That's not saying they will not, but
at this time games are going off. We have to
announce tomorrow if we're gonna have Friday games in high
school sports. We'll check with a doctor Brooks who's over
the Jerferson County school system and find out what's going

(02:42):
on with that. So there's just a lot of uncertainty
with this weather. School is out again for the school
systems in the area, so people, you'll have kids out playing,
so just make sure that the drivers stay off your
phones and make sure you stay safe watch what you're doing.
So that's what we've got, Anthony, as for news. As

(03:04):
for sports, though, we kind of rushed off and we
weren't able to finish, and I told people we were
going to really get into the University of Kentucky game,
and we're going to do that today. I do want
to mention again that the next Simmons college game Day
will be held at Odam County. I've got Odham County

(03:27):
versus South Odam, a coach Renter, the old Ballad coach
Hall of Fame coach state champion, has now taken the
job at Odham County, trying to revise that program. And
we will be there next Friday, the seventeenth. So I
will be calling the princepn AD today Anthony to line
all that up. But we will be at Odam County
on the seventeenth of January seven eight am. So it

(03:50):
should be an exciting time. And Odham and South Odham
is a huge rival, Anthony, huge rival. I've never seen
the game, but I've heard about it, so it should
be a lot of fun out what's going on in
Odham County. Our friends just straight up the street from me.
So that's what we've got. Now let's get to Kentucky.
And we have said when Kentucky defeated Duke, came from behind.

(04:17):
They defeated Gonzaga, came from behind, got behind Florida, but
was able to come from behind in a very good
game win six one hundred. That I said, that's not
a good habit. I told Kentucky fans. I said, I
know that you're really happy with your team. This is
about a week and a half ago, but I didn't
like some of the signs that I was seeing. They

(04:38):
were winning, but I didn't like to see the signs,
and now they're starting to show up a little bit.
First thing, the SEC is just a magnificent conference. It
just is. It is what it is, Anthony. So that's
the first part. Every game is going to be a challenge,
absolutely every game. Georgia was supposed to be one of
the worst teams supposedly in the league. But guys, they

(05:02):
only who came into the game of the eleven twelve wins.
I don't know how you call that a bad team.
But still, Kentucky's got a few flaws that I wanted
to talk to people about, and I want to start
going back to the Florida game and I told people,
I said, I understand. It feels good when all the
shots go in the basket, Anthony, When all the shots

(05:24):
go in the basket, oh, it just looks it's a
beautiful sport. It looks so effortlessly and easy. But that's
not what happens any What happens is sometimes you've got
to grind out game. Sometimes your defense has to win games.
Sometimes your defensive rebounding, which coach Poke you spoke about
the last two games, has to step forward. Sometimes you

(05:48):
have to be physical. A lot of people think physical, Oh,
you got to throw people down. That's not physical. Coach
Crumb used to teach it. The best physicality is positioning
your body in the right position against your opponent. That's
what physical is. Okay, great, okay, yes, great, we'll get
in Anthony. We've got the one and only George Williams

(06:10):
calling in on us. Let's have George, George, welcome to
the show.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
How are you?

Speaker 1 (06:15):
You got it? What's going on? What's going on? Trying
to stay warm?

Speaker 3 (06:23):
Trying to stay warm? Feel me? You take a beautiful
web outside, but you know, trying to do my part
and stay inside.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Okay. I just wanted to make sure you know this
it in Friday, don't you.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Yeah? No, I didn't. Yeah, I'm thinking you.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Not just George, we cannot You called me yesterday and
I knew don't talk about I wanted to make sure
we both knew we cannot open our mouths yet. We'll
do that. Well, we'll do that tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
We will do right. But no problem, George. But what
I'm gonna do with leet you and that and you
take over? Man, I'm going back to Be.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
You're going back to that. Okay, then, George, because a
lot of part of George, George, I can't make the event.
So you're going to the event. Correct.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
I'm going to represent, you know, I gotta represent.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
Okay, there you go. So tomorrow you'll be able to
let everyone know what's going to transpire today, which is great.
We're not gonna say another word about it. Okay, go
back to Be and get you some rest in Georgie,
and you.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
Have a great day.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
Ol.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
So my brother, stay safe, Anthony, Yes.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
Sir, Oh did George tell you to stay safe?

Speaker 4 (07:38):
You were going?

Speaker 2 (07:39):
I talked to you, okay, I thought you're talking to you.

Speaker 5 (07:44):
Get a lot of hate.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Lately, George.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
He's given you a hard time.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
He says you've been giving him a lot of hate lately.
He thought you were talking.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
I'm just trying to make him grow up, Jay, He's
got to grow up. It's not an easy world out there.
I didn't let you grow up like that when I said,
will be hard on you, you know, I gotta do this
thing for his son that has no easy paths to
get to the start of jail. You know that.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
That's all George. Make sure you let him know it.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
Talk to you more.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
All right, So good, that was good, But no, tomorrow
George will have a lot to report and I can't
say anything else about it. It's really really good. I'm happy,
very very happy. But we'll report it tomorrow now, Anthony,
back to the University of Kentucky. They've got a problem
with defensive rebounding the ball, okay, they have a problem

(08:32):
with boxing out. I think they've always used their athleticism
and they've forgotten that they're playing in the league that
has better athletes than them. That's just the truth. And
it doesn't mean that Kentucky can't win. But they're gonna
have to play differently, they really are. They're gonna have
to be the smartest team. They're gonna have to position themselves.

(08:52):
They're gonna have to do what they do offensively. See guys, okay,
in your opinion, before I tell them some of the
things Kentuck yes to do, what do you think Kentuch
yes to do defensively to shore up some of the
problems they have defensive rebounding the ball, anthony, allowing low
post position for low post players, those things, what do

(09:14):
you think they need to do.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
For a smaller, undersized Kentucky team in the SEC, There's
there's a lot of small intangibles that got to be
done throughout the entire team, from top to bottom of one,
obviously boxing out, finding bodies, and two I think with
a lot of the better offensive players, I think even
in the low post, like John Broom from Auburn, you
might have to double John Broom in some games. It

(09:38):
just depends on the scenario in how you're playing. It
doesn't have to be every play. I think sometimes you
can try to score them up and go one on
one defensively, been sometimes you got to send some bodies
and get the ball in his hands and make other
players just make shots. I mean they will, but even
in the SEC, consistently expecting a team to go out
there and shoot forty five from the three line, it

(09:59):
won't happen every night. You have the one team I'll
go out there and do what Kentucky did against Florida,
who will hit every shot. But in some of those
scenarios you have to go out there and make other
people really make plays. And it's pressure to go out
there and shoot forty percent from the three line.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
Even open.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
It's still hard to do in college basketball. Most kids
can't shoot that well. Honestly, you have maybe an a
handful of the conference. I can really go out there
and just really knock down shots. But other than that,
you have to make them hit perimeter shots and rebound
the basketball, find bodies, box out, and push the ball
in transition. That's what Kentucky's gonna have to do. Being small.

(10:34):
They're playing small blue right now. So you have to
be a team that is scrappy, that gets after people
and moves the ball down the floor.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
No, I agree, Kentucky fans understand this. I've said it, Anthony.
It'said I'm saying. I've said forever to my assistant coaches
when we were going out to recruit. I can teach
players to play defense, and I can teach players to
box out. You can. You may have to get after
him a little bit, but you can do that. But

(11:03):
you can't teach players to make change at a cash register.
Kentucky has talented players. They can make change. They can
play a Florida game and win because they have talent.
What Coach Polk's gonna have to do is he's going
to have to take the dogs to the junkyard and
he's going to have to teach them, and he will
the things that they're going to have to do with

(11:24):
the physicality that they have to do it with in
a certain manner. That does not mean they're throwing people down, guys.
That does not mean that they're playing oh physical basketball,
getting into foul trouble early. That's not what I'm saying.
What I'm saying to this when people talk about physicality,
let me explain it to you. When you hear Mick
Cronin going in there, we're not tough enough. And it

(11:45):
sounds good. I mean, that's really good for sound clips.
But as a coach, what Coach Polk is going to
tell his team is that we must position ourselves. Anthony
just said that they may have to double team the
low post. Okay, what does that mean? By double teaming
the low post, that stops Andrew Carr from having to

(12:06):
three quarter the low post player to not allow the
entry post passing is easy to where they get on
the top side and when people shoot the ball and
your players on the top side, it's hard for them
to get into defensive rebounding position. I'm just being honest
with you. Coach Osten, Coach Houston, and Coach Crumb used
to fight about this. If you all remember David Corzine,

(12:26):
you weren't even born Anthony, but player named David Corzine
at De Paul killed Louisville because Coach Crumb continued to
front the post and they would throw it over for
layups or they would shoot the ball. And David Corzine
was sixty eleven to two fifty Anthony two forty at
the time, a very large player. He wasn't athletic Anthony,
but he had position, so he rebounded the ball and

(12:46):
put it back in. So by doubling the low post,
you keep your post players in position to block out.
So there are a lot of things you have to
do defensive concept wise to help your players. Because Andrew
car is a very skilled player, but he's not really
really physical. So for when you put him in a

(13:06):
fifty to fifty position for rebound with some of the
athletes that Georgia has, guys, don't be surprised if he
comes up on the latter side. So coach Polk's gonna
have to put him in a position to be successful,
which means keep them behind low post players, have them
force low post players off the box, which they can
do double team low post players to make them throw

(13:27):
the ball out so when the ball is shot, you
are in position to rebound the ball. Got me. Kentucky
does have Anthony the one gentleman. I really think Williams
is doing a good job. He's having eight rebounds a game, Anthony,
that's a good job for the minutes played. He's everingly
eight rebounds a game. But again you've seen in games

(13:49):
when he's out of position. That's where the coaches are
going to have to come in with the videotape, find
out why he's out of position, what's going on with
the defensive possession. I don't know their complete scheme, but
they do, and when they're going through this, it's an
O saying, there's always help, the help. If I'm in

(14:10):
the stress defensively and someone helps. You always want an
offensive player in between the two defensive players. Kentucky fans,
if you ever see two defensive players side by side
or back to back, the concept is bad. You should
see a Kentucky player, a offensive player, a Kentucky player
fronting him. When you're doing things like that or with

(14:32):
pick and rolls, you will see the offensive player run
a pick and roll. You'll see the defender of the
pick step out. You'll see the guard of the pick
and roll come behind. You'll see them double team the
ball to force the ball away from the basket. That's
what you do when you point two people to the ball.
You're trying to dictate what you want them to do.

(14:53):
You're trying to say, this is a threat to my defense,
so I'm double teaming you. This is a no note.
So these are the kind of thing that I'm going
to want to watch when I'm watching University Kentucky, especially
with the next game. And I do believe they got
Mississippi State. I mean, Gody at Mississippi State and what
a season. Fourteenth ranked again, it's going to be a

(15:16):
super challenge. I think Kentucky will be up to the task.
I think that Kentucky fans you will see defensively, you
will see blocking out. You will start to see some
of the concepts that coach Polk put into place coming
into tuition because the players understand now too, that this
league is going to take all details to win. Let

(15:39):
me tell you something, Anthony john wood And used to
tell people, tie your shoes up right, put your socks
on correctly, keep your shirttails in because all details matter.
I hate shirttails out. I do you know. I didn't
allow it at any team. The small details matter. If
you can't take your of the small details, you're not

(16:00):
going to take care of the big details. At the
eight minute mark of the second half, when you need
a big box out, you're gonna forget. You must build
on your details. Kentucky offensively is fine. Guys. They will
not always shoot the way that they shot against Georgia,
but they still have to fix the other pieces, the
other facets of the game that they're gonna have to

(16:21):
correct so that they'll be able to go. Guys. I'm
still staying with my ten and eight being a great year.
I think Shannon said eleven and seven to me off air,
which is everybody, guys, that's gonna be a great year
this year in this SEC. So it's seven twenty one, guys.
I forgot to tell you, this is the last day

(16:42):

so of course get in your contest scores today for
the games. Yes, my email is j L. E a

got a new court spot that we taped, we cut
last week that should be running, so let's make sure
we try to get that on. Joe. Now, Anthony, here's
what we've got. We've got people calling in, of course
wanting to leave their score, so we're going to get
those in. Then you're going to give us the news
of the week and we will continue from there with

(17:47):
the show. Let's bring on Bland in first landon. Welcome
to sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (17:52):
How are you morning, gentlemen, how's everyone doing? And Jerry here,
you got the champion here today, so you could be
very very fortunately he took time out of the schedule
to be on your show.

Speaker 1 (18:03):
Are you talking about Shannon? Are you calling Shannon the champ?

Speaker 4 (18:07):
He is the champ. He's the greatest World of heavyweight
champion in history. He is a champ.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
M you hear that, Jam I heard it. I don't
know if I have to accept it, Shennon, but I
heard it. You don't have to. You do have to
accept it. Though he's Shannon Shannon. This could be Miami
all over again.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
The champ is here, the champ here.

Speaker 4 (18:30):
Jerry, I think you need to let him try out
your new knee instead of going to piscical therapy to
see if it's fixed yet.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
That's not even funny. That's not even funny because y'all
want to do bad things to me, And that's not funny.
That's not that's not that's just not funny. So I'm
just telling you, letting you all know that Shannon, you
will not see. I'm telling you it's the snake in
the grass. All of a sudden, you'll be in all

(19:00):
that you can't get out of Shannon. You can't get
you can't even you can't even get out of your
house right now, so I'm not worried about that. It'll
be one, two three. Hey, Shannon, let me tell you
the gentleman that called in earlier this week. Jimmy Beverly.
He's one of my Bulletese guys. I got Tim Perkins.
I got a lot of guys that you just not
gonna know. All of a sudden, have you panned? I'm

(19:22):
gonna run away? What do you mean he's one of
your bulletese guys.

Speaker 5 (19:24):
You realize I'm from Bulletese, right, I'm a bulletes Yeah.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
Know exactly. I'm just letting you know, so you better
watch out when you come out of the door. That's
why I'm letting you know.

Speaker 3 (19:33):
His name is Jerry.

Speaker 4 (19:34):
He called Jerry. I don't care who you called, Jimmy, Jimmy.
It don't matter who you call. Uh, this man is
the dirtiest player in the game, Jerry. He wrote, all you.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
Better call an ambulance. I hold up. Now, there you'll
go again. See I'm glad this is on national radio.
So that hey, guys, something happened to me. You will
go get Shannon. That's all I'm gonna say. Go get
Shannon's number. One the old sus back all right, Bland,
and let's get to work then, since you all trying
to intimidate me on my own show, that's okay, let's

(20:06):
get with it. You got Texas Ohio State. You haven't
won a contest this year. I've beaten them.

Speaker 4 (20:12):
Yeah, but I got.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
No. No, you got to break you.

Speaker 4 (20:19):
You pulled the carpet out for underneath May. But that's okay.
I'm gonna get this.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
I'm a carpetbager also, Okay, Okay, I like being a
carpetbager with you, though.

Speaker 4 (20:28):
Now you're not. You're not doing the first one, and
I Jerry first. You want to go to Texas and
Ohio State.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
Texas Ohio State first, and we're gonna do Penn State,
notre Day. I've got them written down that way. I'm
gonna stay to the form Texas State, which is Friday
Nights Gate.

Speaker 4 (20:41):
Ay.

Speaker 1 (20:41):
I'm taking Jarry's.

Speaker 4 (20:42):
World, right, I'm taking Texas thirty seven in Ohio State
thirty four.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
You may be the first one. You may be the
first one. You are you're the first one. I mean,
that can't happen. Now, that's Anthony's team. Texas could win.

Speaker 4 (21:04):
I mean, they're playing in Jerry's world. But you know,
I get the All State support. They are really playing
well right now, So I get all that. I really
do that that's going to be a heck of a game.
I think it's going to be high scoring.

Speaker 1 (21:16):
But close. Yes, high scoring, because neither team is going
to play any real defense. I agree, Penn State, Notre Dame,
Jerry both ways? Do you?

Speaker 4 (21:26):
I got Notre Dame in this from twenty eight to seventeen.

Speaker 1 (21:30):
Twenty eight seventeen, Okay, let's go. We have got Wow,
we've got Texas. Excuse me, Notre Dame. Give me your score.

Speaker 4 (21:41):
Yeah, I got Texas winning the national championship, Jerry, thirty
four to thirty one?

Speaker 1 (21:45):
Okay, are you coming into the patch for the real money?
Are you staying out?

Speaker 4 (21:53):
I'm going to say that I got to get on
the board, Jerry. I don't. I can't handle you in
the in the chicken track.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
Okay, that's fair, that's fair, that's fair. Blanded, Okay, I've
got you, nasty champion. You have Texas thirty four, Notre
Dame thirty one.

Speaker 3 (22:12):
Correct, Yes, sir, I've got you.

Speaker 1 (22:16):
Is your wife going to put in her scores today.

Speaker 4 (22:17):
There she's there. Thank you, Jerry, you all have a
good day. Thank you.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
Take care of Bland. Mary.

Speaker 4 (22:22):
How are you?

Speaker 1 (22:23):
I'm good.

Speaker 6 (22:24):
How are you doing today?

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Good? Mary? I hope you win. Mary, I really do.
I like the women, not the man.

Speaker 7 (22:30):
I believe, I love it.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
So we're going to start again. You've got Texas in
Ohio State.

Speaker 6 (22:38):
I have Ohio steak twenty one Texas eighteen.

Speaker 1 (22:44):
Oh okay, that's an unusual score. Most people have Ohio
State winning the game, but not twenty one eighteen. You
think it's going to be a defensive struggle. I have
to wait and see. I'm not going to say anything predict.
You can't predict. I honestly, people think it's rigged or what.
Every time my wife calls it, I said that score
is never gonna win. Next thing, I know it wins.

(23:05):
So I'm not gonna say that you may win with
that twenty one eighteen. Penn State and Notre Dame. Tonight's game,
where are you?

Speaker 6 (23:13):
I have Penn State twelve and Notre Dame twenty.

Speaker 1 (23:20):
Okay, sure, so that means that you have an Ohio
State Notre Dame final. What is your score?

Speaker 6 (23:28):
Yes, I have Ohio State twenty and Notre Dame thirty five.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
Okay, you got Notre Dames and that's Chams. Well Marcus Freeman,
well congratulations, let's well, let's go with that. Are you
getting into Briars Bush with mar or you staying out
and fifty dollars on the line.

Speaker 6 (23:46):
I'm staying out. I'm staying out, Jerry, Mary, Between.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
You and bland and you all are rich and you
all don't want more money. I can't even believe that
Blanding's gotten. I can't even believe it.

Speaker 7 (24:00):
Are you?

Speaker 6 (24:01):
So thanks?

Speaker 1 (24:07):
Son?

Speaker 7 (24:07):
Play major league baseball.

Speaker 1 (24:11):
I'm not giving in Sun play major League baseball. Anytime
I'm a little short, I go to Blanding and I
can't believe you too. But Mary, I love you. I've
got you down, and you did not get the wish
for the two fifty. Take care.

Speaker 4 (24:23):
Thanks, thank you, Mary.

Speaker 1 (24:26):
Anthony. Can you believe that? And the next time you
see Blanding for me, walk up and say chicken? Can
you do that for Anthony? That's all I want you
to do.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
We'll probably just laugh at you, but I'll do it.

Speaker 1 (24:39):
Yeah, do it. Please make a chicken sound for me. Also,
when you see blanding, Cory, you go chicken. That's all.
That's all I want. So now, Anthony, I haven't gotten yours.
Before I go to my man AC, I haven't gotten yours.
I want your scores, Anthony, Who you have so we
get to break for I get AC.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
Who do you have?

Speaker 1 (25:00):
Texas Ohio State? I need your score. You can't win,
but I just want to know how close you are?

Speaker 2 (25:06):
Yeah, yeah, I know I win every week and I
just can't win.

Speaker 5 (25:09):
What was out there?

Speaker 2 (25:09):
I guess you could take my score. You'll get pretty close.
I'm gonna say, I'm gonna go Texas. I'm gonna say
twenty eight, Ohio State, twenty.

Speaker 1 (25:22):
Seven, Okay, Penn State, Notre Dame.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
I'm gonna take Notre Dame. Let's take Notre Dame thirty,
Penn State twenty.

Speaker 1 (25:32):
Four, Texas Notre Dame.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
It's gotta stay truthful. I'm gonna stay. I'm gonna say
with my longhorns, twenty seven, Notre Dame in twenty four
on that one.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
Okay, good, no pro game, that's we're not gonna do that.
Let's get to AC before we get to break, and yes, sleepless,
my good morning. Your scoring his wife gave me this
one more point. Here you go sleepless is just without
a doubt he's one of those Florida State criminals, I mean,
seminals sleep. Let's call the show. Let's get to a
C before we go to break a C. Welcome to

(26:06):
need Sports Radio. Please bring some sanity this time, ac
some sanity. How are you?

Speaker 7 (26:12):
Good morning, good morning, good morning, Thank you so much
for taking my call. Happy year to brother Anthony, Brother
Shannon the Dude, and mister Eaves. Hey guys doing, we're good.

Speaker 1 (26:22):
Good.

Speaker 7 (26:22):
Let me give you my prediction, and I have a
lot in my mind, but I'm gonna solve one problem.
That'll be mister Blandon. I hope mister Blandon will be
listening because this is truthful. I'm gonna let you know.

Speaker 1 (26:34):
So I am nothing negative.

Speaker 7 (26:47):
I'm gonna no, I understand. But I know the reason
why mister did not win the contest so far. I
know the reason. I'll let you know. So let's go
with the contest.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
Let's go Texas, Ohio State, Ohio.

Speaker 7 (27:02):
State Buckeyes thirty eight, twenty eight.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
Okay, Penn State, Notre Dame, I have your.

Speaker 7 (27:12):
Irish twenty eight eighteen, A lot of people have.

Speaker 1 (27:17):
Been leaning on Notre Dame, and honestly, I'm gonna get
my scores. Also, at the end of the day, I
do think that Notre Dame wins that game. Let's go.
You've got Ohio State and you've got Notre Dame. Give
me your nastier champion.

Speaker 7 (27:30):
Mister asy And I told you since all season, Ohio
State is gonna win the whole thing. And they are
going to win the whole thing. Ohio State, buck eye
is big forty five twenty four.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
Hey, okay, are you getting in the briars bush? Are
you coming in with you, sir?

Speaker 7 (27:46):
Because I don't do that because I'm too. I'm too
and now undefeated against you for last two years. So
if anything, don't worry about shunning the dude. You should
worry about me because you haven't beaten me yet. Baby.
Here's the thing. Miss let me tell you something.

Speaker 1 (28:02):
You know.

Speaker 7 (28:02):
It's right, It's absolutely right. Mister Blanden. He got robbed once.
I don't know how he got twice. Week five, he
did get robbed. Let me tell you why he's Let
me tell you he did not win the Yes, he did.
You and I when we went back and forth. We
get it. Do you know the reason why he hasn't
won it contest since week five? Do you know the reason?

(28:24):
Let me tell you the reason. Because he's not focused.
He's focused and concentrating on Shannon the dude, the wrestler.
If he stops drooling all over Shannon, he could have
won something. But he is not. That's his problem. That's
not your problem.

Speaker 3 (28:41):
But it's a fact.

Speaker 7 (28:42):
He did get robbed in week five, but he didn't
robb him last fourteen weeks. Mister Eames, I'll let you know, baby,
So when mister Blandman calls in, he should apologize to
himself because he's not focusing, he's not concentrating. That's not
anyone's problem. I hope you have the medication to solve.

Speaker 1 (29:01):
We got a medication, but I wouldn't be giving it
to Bland and I'd probably be giving it to.

Speaker 3 (29:05):
You ac.

Speaker 1 (29:09):
He's going anyway. Guys, it is seven thirty seven, it's
Eve Sports Radio. We'll talk to you in a second.
Welcome back, John Carney. We need to change that commercial
because that portion is done. My Cardinals took care of
your cats at Kroger Stadium, so I just wanted you
to know it's time to change it. I want to

(29:30):
give you your chance to redeem yourself. We have to
come up with a new commercial, so John, let's let's
get to work on that. Because with that portion, that
chapter is done. I got you there. You did bounce back.
So we need to change the commercial. So at least
you can be on the upper hand for about a
month or two. So let's change that commercial. John, give
me a buzz today. Welcome back to EVE Sports Radio.

(29:52):
I got Anthony Anthony at AC without a doubt. Anthony,
I have no idea when he's ever beaten me. And
then I'm not kidding. I do have to give him credit. Anthony.
He writes down everyone's score. He does, he does, but
he's still wrong. Blanda did not win Week five. He
did not, He didn't. So I don't care what Acey says.

(30:14):
I've got him all too. I keep all of them, Anthony,
every solitary week, I keep the scores of everyone, and
I want everyone to know it's on tape. You can go,
you can look it up. Shannon. You have to tell
them one day how they go and find a podcast
and they can listen to it, no question. So let
me tell you this. This is the craziest thing. I

(30:37):
had a person send me this. I told him I'm
gonna read it to everyone. Good morning, sir, this is sleepless.
Whatever score your wife has, give me one more point
for the winning teams. And I'm not kidding you. That's
how crazy this is. So let's get to our next call. Anthony.
We got Travis, Little Travis on the line. Travis, welcome
to the sports radio. Long time, no talk to How

(30:58):
are you? Travis?

Speaker 4 (31:04):
Are you there?

Speaker 3 (31:05):
Are you there?

Speaker 4 (31:06):
Are you there? There?

Speaker 1 (31:06):
You go?

Speaker 4 (31:08):
I'm sorry about.

Speaker 5 (31:08):
That fat past the phone.

Speaker 4 (31:11):
Well, I tell you that.

Speaker 5 (31:14):
He's a he's a nut. There's something.

Speaker 6 (31:21):
I got.

Speaker 4 (31:25):
I got, I got one point.

Speaker 5 (31:26):
And then I'll go and give him my scores.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
Uh and hold up, hold up before you give the point.
I want everybody to know on Eves Sports Radio, anything
but swear words can be said to Jerry's, Anthony's, George Williams,
and I'm not gonna lie to you. I got a
guy named Roan, that's my boy. He's the biggest cat fan.
But you can nibble on him a little bit, but
not a lot. But everybody else is off limits. You
just call it. If you got something negative, it's got

(31:50):
to be toward me. I don't let people talk about
my other callers. People should be able to call in
and say what they want to Jerry's but I just don't.
And Travis isn't about you. You haven't called in forever,
So I don't want you to think this is about Travis.
Travis adn't called in and goll lie almost. You've only
called me twice in about two or three years. Travis,
you cut me back.

Speaker 4 (32:07):
No, I called you a few times last year.

Speaker 1 (32:10):
Okay, I got you anyway, My worst is about you.
Got you. You keep working, Travis. But I don't want
people to think this is about Travis. It is not.
I just had to get that out as a public information. Okay,
trapping go ahead.

Speaker 5 (32:24):
So we spoke the other day, and I just want
to bring it to light because it was the same
old business. It wasn't a paid game. Clinton didn't expect
to come in.

Speaker 8 (32:33):
Well, they probably did expect to come to the Young
Center and get screwed by the officials.

Speaker 5 (32:37):
But so now, over the past five days, I've been
keeping track Jerry.

Speaker 4 (32:42):
They're four to one at home.

Speaker 5 (32:43):
Somehow, some way, they've average shooting fourteen more, are fifteen
more free throws and nine more three pointers than their opponents.
I mean only at the Young Center do I see that.
I pay attention to a lot of teams. I go
to the box scorer, and we got the team staff
some stuff.

Speaker 8 (33:00):
I think you can tell a lot about stats.

Speaker 5 (33:02):
I mean, that's not all you can tell. And sometimes
teams are all for Sometimes, like you said before, referees
have a bad game. But there's a pattern here and
I'm I'm just here for it happened now.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
But here's what I told you when you called me.
I was in the weight room. I said, Shannon and
you were talking about Hepburn when he shot twenty free throws.
I told you that's unusual. I'm not guys, I've been
doing this my whole life. That's very unusual when one
player shoots twenty free throws. I agreed with you that.
But the Clemson game, I stayed. Listen to me, Travis.

(33:35):
You asked me, how does Louisville do it? I said,
because Louisville plays low post basketball. They played below the
free throw live. I said, they played the old Anthony Mason.
That's what I told you before the game. I told
you that you said, okay, you would watch it. Well,
it wasn't Chucky hepburn and the Clemson game, it was
Handley and he did and he did post up in

(33:56):
the second half, and he did play on the big
box and team. They're so enamored that louis was going
to shoot threes that they allow players the old Denny
Crump to post upon the box and drove files. I
stayed Travis because I wanted to see myself. Because I
saw the Louisville game. I told people about it. The
intentional foul on the block shot on come on, Jerry

(34:19):
Chucky was not an intentional file. And then I told
you the intentional file that they called on the Kentucky
player car when he pulled the young man down. I said,
you know what college has gotten so soft as sickly.
Those weren't intentional files. They need to stop that. But
the files that I think Hamley shot eleven free throws.
He was posting them up, he was going through their body.

(34:39):
He was drawing contact, and their fissues were not They
were not being misled. They were making the cred calls.
The twenty throws I'll give you. I gave you. I
will give you credit on the twenty But the Clemson game,
if I was Clemson's coach and I've got the audio,
I might play it tomorrow for you. Travis in the
press conference after that, he's, boy, we were just out

(35:00):
of kilter. We just never played our style. They didn't
They didn't play physically like they played against Kentucky. They
were very physical, Travis. They had a seven photograb offensive
rebound three feet away and tried to pass it to
somebody two feet away, hit Louisville's chess player dead in
the middle of the chest. The Louisville player thought he
was intentionally throwing it at and they picked it up.
He wouldn't even shoot the offensive rebound. It was just

(35:22):
it was Clemson did not play a good basketball game.
I'm sorry.

Speaker 5 (35:26):
Well that's that's that's better than what Kentucky does.

Speaker 8 (35:29):
They get offensive rebounds and then throw it out to
the three point line because they're so solid.

Speaker 1 (35:33):
But Travis, here's the deal, though, no, I would if
you all ever see Jay Billis, please tell him to
say that's that's the best time to shoot a three.
Get out of here. That's the best time to get
a three point play the old fashion. Yeah, the NBA's
in doubled all that exactly. The NBA is in troubleshooting
all that garbage threes, and they are. People are telling
them they're sick of seeing those garbage three pointers thrown

(35:56):
up college. Does it weigh too much with the wrong players. Man,
When you get an offensive rebound, attack the basket, get
a three point play the old fashioned way that Jay,
But that's great, don't. Jay has no idea. That's crazy.
Attack the basket. You can get it the old fashion way.
But the Clemson game, I'm not gonna let you have

(36:17):
the free throws. I said, Chucky shooting twenty, No, he
won't shoot twenty free throws. Again. I agree with you,
I Stone, Travis, agree with you. That won't happen in
a conference game.

Speaker 7 (36:29):
Okay, let's get well.

Speaker 5 (36:31):
The last thing, the last thing I'll give the sports sports. Uh,
the last thing is it just seems strange to me
when they go to Virginia they shoot one more free
throw than their opponent.

Speaker 1 (36:42):
No, on the road.

Speaker 5 (36:44):
So I mean the change though, you.

Speaker 1 (36:46):
Know we'll find out. You know, we got Pittsburgh coming up.
Great point a, Travis, let's watch it. Let's watch it.
Louisill plays Pittsburgh. Kentucky's got Mississippi State. Let's everybody watch it.
I'm with you. Georgia shot Bbby five thirty six free
throws on you are? Was it thirty eight? Travis thirty nine,
thirty nine? Yeah, so guys. I mean it's just weird,

(37:07):
but let's watch it. Let's get to the games. You
got Texasles State, Texas Isle State.

Speaker 5 (37:12):
You well, my man Anthony over there, Good morning Anthony.

Speaker 4 (37:17):
By the way, he.

Speaker 8 (37:22):
Stole my thunder because I got the I got looking
Warren's I've said back in about week four that was
my team to win it all, and I.

Speaker 9 (37:30):
Just I'm sticking with him. I still think they're gonna
win it all. So I go Texas, Texas bets Ohio State.
Let's go thirty to twenty four.

Speaker 1 (37:44):
Let me just check. I think you'll find it. That's
why I keep them in order, because I can go
back and check them quickly. When Blandon asked me, why
you're fine When I keep them in order, I can
go back and check the scores, and I know where
to look. That's why Blanded I always do this. You know,
I'm just a third grade reject to keep things simple
for me, Pittio Da Penn State Notre Dame.

Speaker 5 (38:06):
I would like to go against the Green and pick
Penn State. I know most people are picking Notre Dame, but.

Speaker 9 (38:12):
I just don't trust trust James Franklin in a big spot.
I just don't.

Speaker 8 (38:16):
I think they've had a great draw up to now,
and uh, I just I just I like. I like
Notre Dame's coach a lot, coach Freeman.

Speaker 5 (38:25):
I think he's really really good.

Speaker 4 (38:28):
Yes, yeah, so I'm gonna go.

Speaker 8 (38:32):
I'm gonna go Notre Dame wins. I think it's gonna
be a low scoring game. I'm gonna say Notre Dame wins.

Speaker 5 (38:39):
Twenty three to.

Speaker 9 (38:43):
Twenty no twenty three seventeen.

Speaker 1 (38:47):
You're fine, that's of course, I take it. Okay, You've
got now Texas and Notre Dame in your national championship game.

Speaker 8 (38:55):
I'm gonna go Texas wins. I'm gonna go. I'm gonna
go with one of Anthony scorers. I'm gonna go Texas
wins twenty eight, twenty seven.

Speaker 1 (39:08):
You can you can take you to Texas twenty eighth,
Notre Dame twenty seven, Texas National champs you're coming into
parts patri Withney Travis. Are you checking? Of course? Of course,
all right, I know you're not. You're too crazy. You've
got the Ravens and the Steelers. Is your game?

Speaker 3 (39:28):
Mhm m hmmm.

Speaker 1 (39:30):
Good all these games, boy, This Saturday Sunday's gonna be
some great profiles starting tonight.

Speaker 5 (39:35):
I mean Thursday, Friday.

Speaker 8 (39:36):
You've got Kentucky, You's Mississippi State, and Little's got pitt
on Saturday, and you've got the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (39:41):
That's gonna be.

Speaker 5 (39:42):
A great weekend. Let's go.

Speaker 3 (39:48):
I'm gonna go the Ravens.

Speaker 9 (39:52):
Twenty seven, Pittsburgh twenty still.

Speaker 1 (40:02):
I'm going. Golly. Let me see, I came bet against myself,
came bet against myself. Let me make sure I gotta
check my one dang game and I want to do that.
Come on, Jerry, where is that game? Yes, I'm taking
the rains. I took the under and I'm going with
the under again twenty six. Taken the under, Travis. I

(40:23):
gotta get to break, Travis, love you brother. It's Eve
Sports Radio. It's seven fifty one. I gotta pay some bills.
We'll be back after the break. Welcome back to the
sports radio guys, this show is blown by it's seven
point fifty five. I hope you're close to work and
the same thing with you. Make sure you're safe out there.
Do a great job for your employer. But here's the deal.

(40:46):
We had some honors thrown out yesterday and I can't
get to all the all of them, but I do
want to congratulate Reverend Cosby for the hometown Hero banners
that will be going up. Also, Will Smith, we all
know KCD University of Louisville catcher, Dodgers World Serious champion.
His is going up. I would be remiss if I

(41:08):
did not say Jimmy Ellis. A lot of people here
will not know who Jimmy Ellis was. He's deceased now,
but he did and did hold the heavyweight champion built
in that ALI period when he was on his hiatus
fighting the court system. But Jimmy Ellis is another one
of the recipients, and I know his family. Jerry Ellis

(41:28):
always plays in my Simmons College golf outings, always supports
Simmons with his money and his time. Just a great family.
There are a lot of people. There's a Ken Clay
I know. Also, we've got Teddy Abramson, just a lot
of great people who you'll see there are posters going

(41:48):
up on billboards and buildings around town. We just wanted
to make sure sirgr was also one of them. In
Masters was another. I think I've named them all, but
two or three of them I have personal ties with.
And congratulations the Reverend Cosby, president at Simmons College, pastor
of Saint Stephen's Family Life Center in Saint Stephen's Church.

(42:11):
A great job to all of the recipients, and congratulations
and let's just keep moving the community forward. This is
E Sports Radio. God willing. I'll be back tomorrow. And Shannon,
you're not popping my knee out of place. You and
bland and are not frightening me. I will be back.
The champ is here, Shannon takes away. Man, love your brother.

(42:31):
Talk to you tomorrow. Well no, you want not tomorrow,
but I'll talk to you on Monday.
