Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome back to Eve Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Yes, it is Tuesday, January the fourteenth, twenty twenty five.
January twenty twenty five, unbelievable, January the fourteenth.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
This is the brand.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
I've got my younger son on the other line, which
I'll get to in a second. My mind is somewhere else,
as you all can tell. There's so many things spinning
in my brain. But the phone number is five zero
two five seven one seventy nine hundred five zero two
five seven one seventy nine hundred. This is Sports Talk
seven ninety kr D. We've got Shennon behind the glass

(00:38):
manning the phone like always, and we've got my younger son.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Anthony Eaves with me. Anthony, welcome to the show. How
are you.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
I'm doing amazing this morning.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
How are you?

Speaker 2 (00:49):
And they just have too many things going on in
my little pea brain. You know, I've got to simplified things.
That's why I take notes. I've got cheat sheets every day, Anthony.
I told you that I've got cheat sheets every day
because I've got too many things spinning, spinning in my brain.
So Anthony, we all know that we've got football to
talk about. We know that we've got basketball games to

(01:09):
talk about. Tonight's games.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
We know that.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
We've got golly the college football contest. We know that
we've got the Ravens Bills. I think this game will
be one of the most watched football games. All football
games are watched, but this one's going to be highly
watched and very competitive. I think right now the Bills
are one point favorites, and I mean it's going to

(01:34):
be a good e We've got the You're gonna are
the Ravens and now they've bet so the Ravens are favorite.
Yesterday the Bills are favoring. H Okay, thank you shev O.
Well good An. I'm glad I've got you on the show.
That just lets you know your friend of mine told
me that they were betting the Ravens. But this game
is going to be just whoo how competitive it's going

(01:56):
to be. We will talk about last year, last Night's debacle,
which was awful. But first, Anthony, before we do anything,
I want to address something that has been quietly kept.
But I want people to understand what my man Scotty
Davenport's going through.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
A beloman.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
A lot of people here don't understand the business of
college athletics and what Scotty is doing for Bellaman and
what he's taking on the chin for Bellaman to help
fund that program and help propel it to one.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Day great heights in division and basketball.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
But if people don't know, Scotty has lost I think
seven in a row. He's lost nine out of ten.
It's really really, really tough right now. They're owing four
in the conference in three and fourteen overall. But I
want people to understand that Scotty's trying to fund Bellaman's program.

(03:00):
I've had people ask me when you want to talk
about Bellaman, when you're going to say something about Belaman,
and everyone thought I was going to just be negative,
which is not at all. I have lived this at
North Carolina and t and at Howard University with coach Beard.
I understand what Scotty's going through, having to play pay games,

(03:20):
having to make money, then trying to get your team's
confidence and focus back. When you go into the conference,
when you can at that level compete, and Scotty will compete,
He'll get it turned around.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
But I want people to understand when you play pay games.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
And you have to go out on the road and
play the university of Louisvils all the time, and Northern
Kentucky ball states, Wyomings Cottorado's for a check, Vcus for
a paycheck for a paycheck, and I'm sure that they're
paying somewhere in the ballpark of eighty tow one hundred

(03:57):
thousand dollars.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Now.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
When I was at North Carolina and T eleven twelve
years ago, Anthony, I was playing for no less than
sixty five, no more than ninety, So I'm sure Scotty's
playing for no less than ninety, probably to about one
hundred and ten thousand dollars a game, to bring money
into the program, to help fund the program, to travel
for all the sports, to take a burden off of

(04:21):
the other sports so they don't have to pay as
much for men's basketball. They make men's basketball fund itself.
So I just wanted everybody to know. I want Scotty
to know, Scotty hanging there, continue coaching, just like I
know you're going to. Your team will turn around. Continue
being disciplined with your team, practicing.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
The right way. The ball will go in. It will.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
But I just want people to know that Coach Beard
and myself we have gone through this gauntlet that Scotty did,
I did.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
For nine years, nine years.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
So everybody, all my friends, I call them my friends,
love to jump on my record, and I think I
was ninety nine and one hundred and I don't know
seventy or eighty. And then I told them legitimately, honestly,
I had eight pay games a year times nine. I
won four or five of them. Got you, Andy, I

(05:14):
won four or five of them. Scotty hasn't gotten him
one of those, but he will. Oh, yes he has.
He got Louisville last year. Yes he has. He's got
in University of Louisville, so he has gotten him a
payday win.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
He'll get more.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
But most of the time, when you put yourself in
that situation, you're gonna come out with a loss, period,
point blank. So Scotty just keeps striving, keep working players
at Bellaman, believe in the system, believe in your coach,
and the ball will go in the basket, and all
of a sudden you'll see them on our six or
seven game winning streak. So I just wanted to make
sure I got that out there because a lot of

(05:49):
people they just don't understand it's all the same.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
No it is not. I've talked to people about Anthony
the officials, and the officials are awful. I'm not gonna
lie anymore.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
I'm starting to say football and basketball it's getting to
be awful, especially with the replace. But when you go
on pay games, you know you're gonna get cheated. I'm
just telling people, flat dad, bottom line fact. You know
you're not gonna get any calls anywhere. Guys, this is
every university. You're not gonna get any calls. The officials

(06:22):
know you're there for a check. You know you're there
for a check, and the home team knows you're there
for a check. Doesn't mean you can't get a win.
But you're gonna have to be ten to fifteen points
better than the home team. That's all there is too
to win that game. So Scotti love, you just keep
on working.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
Brother. Now an where do you want to start?

Speaker 5 (06:40):
Man?

Speaker 1 (06:41):
Where do you want to start? Today? Seven twelve? Where
do you want to start?

Speaker 3 (06:46):
We got to go ahead and starts. Since you love
to talk about him so much, because you think Mike
tom was going to the Cowboys, we're talking about Mike McCarthy.
We have let's do that.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
You can wear up and down.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Mike Tomins is just gonna randomly just switch to the
rival team and go to the cow But the worst
management ownership in NFL history right now.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
I don't think there's no question about it. There's no question.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
I don't think it's gonna happen.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Here's all I'm gonna tell people. And this is my
opinionated show today.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
Guys.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
I was arguing a really good friend of mine and
the Bengals didn't make the playoffs and haven't made it
about two out of three years.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
Anthony, maybe, but I don't care what anybody says.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
If you said I'm taking a lottery and I'm drafting
a quarterback and I haven't built my team like Baltimore
built their team around Lamar Skills, I'm taking Joe Burrows. Now,
put Patrick Mahomes on the pedalstal By itself. I'm just
talking about that division. I'm taking Joe Burrows. Okay, you

(07:52):
got the Pittsburgh Steelers, you got the Ravens, you got
Cincinnati got Cleveland.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
Cleveland's awful. I agree.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Bad decision giving twenty five fty thousand guaranteed dollars that
Deshaun Watson. That was a bad decision. We knew, and
they did it. It was a bad decision. So throw Cleveland out.
Cincinnati is two or three players away, Anthony from being
a super Bowl contender defensively, not offensively.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Don't need help they could get. I hate it when
they let mix It go.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
That was crazy. I mean they had Joe. That was crazy.
If someone tells me they won't pay, just like the
baseball team. But I'm telling you that league is brutal.
I take Mike Tomlin any day of a week. He
just puts his team in the playoffs and gets killed
for it.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
That's all.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
He just puts his team. Let me say it again,
in the playoffs, he gets killed for it. I wish
that Jerry Jones would get out of the way and
give the job to Mike Tomlin. I really do. I
would be a Cowboy fan again. I change my license plate,
like everyone says, Anthony, but you're right, not gonna happen.
I see they're talking to Dion Sanders. Hey, that's the
luck with that. I mean, honestly, everybody says Dion couldn't

(08:57):
do it. He did turn around Colorado.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
He did, he did, so good luck with that.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
But I am a Mike tomlin Man, and I would
love to see him with the Cowboys. He just needs
to get a offensive coordinator, Anthony, that's all. A good
offensive coordinator and a truly good quarterback. And we know
that's hard to do because I mean we watched Sam Donald,
Justin Herbert Jordan love. The NFL playoffs, guys, is a

(09:26):
tough It's the toughest league my opinion, sports league going. Boy,
you've got to be prepared, you've got to be good.
That's why Lamar, Josh Allen, they make it look easy, guys,
because they're really good. Patrick Mahomes, I don't even want
to talk about him. He is the young goat, no
offensive butts. But there are a few people that make
it look fairly easy. You know, Lamar has struggled in

(09:47):
the playoffs. He has Anthony, He's played well. He played
well last game. I think if they keep it in
his will house, they make sure that they slow down
the rush by making him hand that ball off and
he running the ball. Also, I mean, you've got a
freight train behind him. I mean, come on, Jervy, what
do you do with that freight trade? What do they

(10:08):
call him? What's that little car's name? That Lamar Jackson
was describing Anthony. He was describing the running back. It
was as crazy, where's my mind blanked down?

Speaker 1 (10:20):
Yes, the car I didn't hear.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
I didn't hear that one.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
You didn't see that Anthony.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
Lamar was trying to describe Henry, and he says it
was like the movie The Car and then when the
little red cars racing through all the cars Anthony in
the movie. He says, that was backed Henry running through
all the defenses. Yeah, Lightning McQueen, That's exactly what he
was talking about. It was funny, but I mean, when

(10:47):
you've got such a running attack, it helps. But Anthony,
I'm telling you, I just my opinion. If Jerry Jones
had any sense at all, which he doesn't, he would.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
Go get Mike Tomlin.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
Period point established the Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
Everyone's already talked about the Cowboys do everything a little
bit differently than every other team in the NFL, which
is true. You know, a lot of their philosophies don't
make sense to about nine to nine percent of the
people that watched sports. But the rumors when they were
talking about Mike McCarthy was coming back and he's going
to resign his contract with the Cowboys. They waited so
long to make that decision of where they're gonna let

(11:29):
McCarthy go, or if they're not a lot of the
good coaches already getting picked up, you could let him go.
Mike Rabel has been on the table for months. Yes, him,
they let him go to the Patriots.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
Yes, he's a very good coach, discipline oriented, which is
what the Cowboys need. But their owner is not disciplined. Anthey,
so I mean Jerry Jones is in discipline you just mentioned.
I mean, you're one hundred percent incorrect. They should have
let Mike go. McCarthy's done a fine job, put him
in the playoffs. He's a super Bowl coach with the
Packers with Aaron Rodgers. I mean, he's a very really

(12:03):
good coach. But the bottom line is we knew that
they weren't going to keep him. The Cowboys were not going.

Speaker 5 (12:07):
To keep him.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
So Anthony, Jerry Jones, Oh, Anthony, it's so so funny.
But everyone may have heard Jerry Jones talking about yesterday.
He was being sarcastic again, which he's been quite a
bit lately, saying, who was here at the press conference
when I bought the Cowboys. Anthony got me? Who was

(12:32):
here in nineteen eighty five? Were any of you all
here when I bought the Cowboys? And I said, I
was in it to work it. I wasn't just going
to be an owner to buy it and stand back,
but I was going to work that, Anthony. But here
sitting there saying that I worked at Southwestern Life Insurance
Company in Dallas, Texas. Fred Rice and Bob Shaw were

(12:54):
huge sports guys. They had tickets to the Dallas Cowboys.
I used to go to the games all the time
for free, Anthony at the old Cowboys Stadium. And I
was at the press conference when Jerry was talking that
junk seeing who was there.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
I'm sitting around TV going I was. I was that.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
You're don't too old, Anthony. But again, what did he do?
He had Jimmy Johnson. He had the best coach in
that era for pro sports, and they turned that thing around. Anthony.
One in fifteen. Everybody to understand, there was a one
in fifteen season with Jimmy john Next thing, you know,
eight and eight, next thing you know, super Bowl, super Bowl,

(13:35):
super bowls got me. But what happens Jerry Jones couldn't
handle that Jimmy was getting the notre ride because Jimmy
ran the program, couldn't handle it. All of a sudden,
they fall out And Jerry Jones has won four playoff games, Anthony,
in twenty five years. I just want people to understand
that he's won four playoff games in twenty five years
and he doesn't think he should change something. Well again, Anthony,

(13:58):
that's delusional. Because you have money doesn't mean you're right.
That's just the bottom line. But right now, boy, we
think if you got money, you have power and that
means you have to be right.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
That's not true. It's just not true. Statement.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
So anyway, Anthony, when people heard that yesterday, I hope
they were I was there. I was, so that's all yep.
I lived in Dallas. I worked downtown Dallas. I live
right by SMU and Highland Park. I was at the
press conference when the big No one could believe that
the Cowboys were selling that's all Tom Landry fired. Nobody

(14:36):
could believe.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
What was going on. It was a big to do
in Dallas, a huge to do.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
So anyway, it's seven twenty when we come back, we'll
finish up with that thought. I'm gonna ask you what
you think about Dion Sanders going to Dallas. This is
e Sports Radio phone numbers five zero two, five seven
one seventy nine hundred, and we've got a tape that
we're going to listen to that Shannon has loaded for
me to you all know again differences. I gave you

(15:03):
all the difference between Mick Cronin and Mike Tomland last
week so you could hear the difference. I'm gonna let
you hear the difference again and let you make your
own opinion. It's Esports Radio for numbers five zero two,
five seven, one seventy nine hundred. We'll talk to you
in a minute. Welcome back to Eves Sports Radio seven

(15:25):
twenty four. Can you believe it's the fourteenth of January
twenty twenty five. Louisville Place tonight at Syracuse, Kentucky Place
tonight at home and Simmons Cause of Kentucky has our
home game, our first game of the year. We kick off,
so we've got Hartzburg coming five and seven, So if
you can make it out, come out to our game.
Also tape the Cardinals and the Cats. That's what I'm

(15:47):
going to do. So anyway, let's get back to it, Anthony,
what do you think of Dion Sanders's possibility going to
the Dallas Cowboys working for Jerry Jones? Does that work?
Because Dion's personality, he is large. Can those two heads
fit in the same room?

Speaker 3 (16:05):
You know what? I just don't know if any coaches
a fit with Jerry Jones right now.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
And just.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
I don't even say he's too much. He just doesn't
do enough. It's it's kind of the opposite. It's just
he kind of sits back, he kind of waits for
the cards to unfold. Then he's kind of shorthanded, and
then he just kind of makes excuses and then he
fires and lets go of the coach.

Speaker 4 (16:27):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
I think Dia would be a great fit in Dallas
because Dallas is a big spotlight team, which Ston really
does love. He did at Jackson State, He's done at
Colorado personality wise in his mono. I think in the
Cowboys is a good mesh because it's like coaching the
Lakers in the NBA. You have to have a personality
to be able to coach those teams. You can't sit
back under the spotlight kind of in the dark, like

(16:48):
you do with maybe like the Charlotte Hornets or the
Cleveland Browns, you just don't get as much. You don't
get as much hate when you lose, but you don't
really get that much love when you win, and you're
just kind of ingres When you go to Dallas, they
would expect you to win games, they expect you to
win playoff games, and they were expecting to see a
super Bowl within the next couple of years. That's just

(17:09):
how it is. It doesn't matter if your team you
have the worst quarterback in the NFL or if you
have the worst GM ever, they want to see results.
That's just how Dallas is. It's America's team, So Dion
is a good fit. I know that they're gonna have
to restart though. That's the thing. The team isn't terrible,
but they have to restart. Dak Prescott is not your
super Bowl quarterback. I'm sorry. No, it hasn't been a

(17:31):
super Bowl quarterback in really the last ten years. That
has just been very okay.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
I'm gonna say I would disagree with you on one espect.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
If they tell him he's got to be Tom Brady,
he'll never win a super Bowl. If they get him
a running game and let him play off of a
true running game. He is a game manager. He would
be more than adequate. But for some reason, they thought
Dak Prescott. I mean honestly, Jerry Jones just thought that
Dak Prescott turned into Tom Brady.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
I don't know when, but he did. He did.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
Prescott.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
His best comparison right now when it comes to skill wise,
with a little bit of a worst team is Jalen Hurts.
There you go Jalen Hurts and Dak Presscard and very
much the same boat. And people are going to disagree
if you go and watch it.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
He throws it better in Jalen, but not much better,
but he throws it better than Jalen Jalen.

Speaker 3 (18:22):
Outside of Jaalen, Dalen's running game is a little bit
better and his little touch push that he likes to do,
the rack up balls, touchdowns. Jalen Hurts isn't that impressive.
He just has a lot better team he's got. I
think he has a better receiving corps. He's got a
j Brown, Devonte Smith, and he has the best running
back in the NFL right now. It's tape on Barkley.
If you go statistical wise, defense, best coaching for one

(18:43):
of the top three best coaching philosophy. So it's just
like you put him in the best situation possible.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
Jalen hurts if you it is, but if you threw.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
If I put Lamar Jackson on the Eagles, he probably
has two Super Bowls right now.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
I mean same same kind possibility. Yes, Eagles possibility. Yes,
running game, running scheme. Yes, they play very similar, no question.
Here's the deal, an, I want you to listen to
this clip. I want everybody to listen to a clip.
I'm gonna go to my first caller, but I want
you all to hear. You'll hear Magic Johnson speaking about
the Commander's owner, the Washington Commanders, and how they've gone

(19:21):
about this compared to the Dallas owner.

Speaker 1 (19:24):
Please play it for me, Shen.

Speaker 6 (19:26):
You said, what does it take new vision, new owner
with a strategy picking the right people first, our coach,
coach quinn Adam Peters, and then we all step out
the way and let them do their job.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
How culture and people? That is how culture and people.
So that's it. Don't make this about us.

Speaker 7 (19:47):
Consideration to find it getting somebody else at no, just no,
I bought the team I think the first thing that
came out of my mouth anybody here was at that
press conference.

Speaker 5 (20:00):
Okay, somebody asked, did you buy this for you kids?
And I said, hell no, I bought.

Speaker 4 (20:03):
It for me.

Speaker 5 (20:05):
And I didn't buy an investment. I bought an occupation,
and I bought something that I was going to do.
I was forty six. I bought something I was going
to do for the rest of my life. The facts
are that since I have to decide where the money spent,
then you might as well cut all the book out.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
You said, what does it take? There? You go? Thank
you so again, guys. Jerry's concept.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
Who y'all heard in the background after Magic Johnson was
the owner of the Washington Commander Josh Harris. He is
the one you heard speaking about getting out of the way,
letting people do their job. Then you heard someone asking
Jerry Jones, would he give up power? No, it's it's
not going to happen. That's what he said. He bought

(20:47):
it for one hundred and forty million back in eighty five,
eighty six, and he's not going to give up power.
That's not what he's going to do. And he's won
four playoff games in the last twenty five years, someone
in a press conference needs to ask him, does he
think he's been successful? They need to ask that question
because he's always talking about super Bowls. He keeps continuing

(21:07):
doing it the same way. So I guess he thinks
he's been successful, Anthony, he must. It must not be
a super Bowl or bus for him, even though he
says that, But it can't be because he continues to repeat, repeat, repeat,
So let's go to our first caller, Anthony. We've got
Ron on the line. Ron, what would he sports radio?

Speaker 4 (21:24):
Are you good morning, guys? How are you guys this morning?
We're good good? So, Yes, first off, the problem in Dallas,
it's not Mike McCarthy, it's not Dak Prescott. It's it's
none of those. And no, there's not a chance in

(21:47):
hill that Mike Commin would go to work for that guy.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
Okay, don't say that, man, I need that.

Speaker 4 (21:53):
I'm sorry. He is the problem. He is the problem
with kill. He's gets out of the way. It's not
going to get fixed. Sorry, it's not. No, it's his toys.
Just like you said, he got all the money, he
made the rules. Yes, you're right, I'm not here captain

(22:16):
Mike McCarthy. But he was good enough. He was very
successful when Green Bay won a Super Bowl. They were
good for several years. Wife was there. But as long
as that guy down there is tinkering with the RUSS,
tinking with the personnel, the game playing and everything else,
it's not gonna get fixed, just the way it is.
One other thing, Jerry, we know that if you were

(22:37):
going to Dallas games in eighty five, you were going
for free. Well, I did go for free.

Speaker 2 (22:43):
I'm not kids. I couldn't afford those games. I couldn't
afford them. I did go for free. Ch Insurance Company
owned the tickets. His name is fred Rice bob Shaw's deceased.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
Now.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
Fred Rice lives right up the street from me here.
I see him all the time, eat breakfast together and
first watch the Truth. And they own the tickets. Right now,
that's all I gotta don't conference right, because they bought
the big expensive tickets.

Speaker 1 (23:11):
That's how they got in the press.

Speaker 4 (23:12):
Reference Ry, I know you well enough. I knew you
wouldn't buying tickets.

Speaker 2 (23:16):
Come on, man, No, I couldn't afford it back then.
Durham couldn't afford it back then. Can't afford it. Now
you had no expensive These tickets are shoo oh.

Speaker 1 (23:25):
I bet that's why I give fans.

Speaker 2 (23:27):
All the credit. Ron fans should get credit because they
pay a huge nut for these athletes, these owners, everybody
they do.

Speaker 4 (23:37):
Two other points I wanted to make for Camp One is, uh,
you're correct, and I'm glad you brought up Delaman and
Scottie because we don't hear Fromier Crawford anymore. We don't
hear from propaganda radio. You know, they they were flying
their flag as long as they were having a little

(23:57):
success there at the beginning anything, you were going well.
But soon as things got bad, it's like they don't
exist no more.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
Right.

Speaker 2 (24:05):
Uh, I want people to know that exactly. It's just
a very difficult situation. But no, I agree with you
hundred percent. What's your last one, big fellow.

Speaker 4 (24:14):
One other thing was just say you had a caller
and I respect his opinions very much because he's very knowledgeable,
especially around football. And I'm talking about Butler. When he called,
it was talking about, you know, the Cali Perry thing.
Come up, h I want to I want to point
out something to people about that. Cali Perry's eleven and five.

Speaker 1 (24:39):
Yes, he's oh and.

Speaker 4 (24:40):
Three in the SEC. MHM, p K is eleven and
five and he's oh and four in the SEC. So
let's don't get it twisted here. And they're talking about
one of them being coach of the year, one of
them being.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
Fired and then interesting, No, it's a great point.

Speaker 4 (25:02):
Look at the fact you know the fast, that's what
you know. If Cal was playing in the JV conference
over in.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
The ACC, I can't give you to JV. I can't
give it to JV. But you're a hundredercent right. Let
me hold it, Roun. I'm a fuck god, I don't
have it. No, no, no, Ron I said yesterday. I'm
not disagreeing with you. Ron. You're one hundred percent. Everybody
knows Cal and our boys and your one hundred percent right.
The a CEC has what four wins against the SEC,
four and thirty and that's yes, four and thirty is

(25:32):
the record. The SEC is very competitive right now, very competitive.
Kentucky has to win, has to score ninety plus to win.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
That's just facts.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
They can do it. They can make change, but they
have to because that league is competitive. Guys, it just
is this year.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
SEC. But here's the kicker, Ron. I want people to
listen to me.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
Close you two, the ACC doesn't have a winning record
against any Power five conference.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
That's all I'm trying to.

Speaker 2 (25:59):
Tell people any now. Just so ThEC not the Big ten,
not the Big twelve, nobody. That's never happened. It's got
one team in the top twenty. It's never happened. I mean,
I'm glad Louis was coming back.

Speaker 4 (26:14):
They just go off the loss of Georgia, which was
a quad one loss. They went to Mississippi State, Nobody
had beaten them there this year. They want it, got
a quad one win tonight, they rolled back right back
with another quad one game, a team ranked eleventh or
twelveth in the nation. And then they turned around Saturday
and play another top five team, Alabama.

Speaker 1 (26:35):
Alabama.

Speaker 4 (26:36):
Meanwhile, meanwhile, tonight y'all are at Syracuse playing the one
hundred and forty third ring team of the NET.

Speaker 2 (26:45):
It's just I'm I hate it because people get mad
at me. I'm the one who said the a SEC
was falling five six years ago.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
Ryan in a year now.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
I mean I hated because I wanted people to start
to take notice when it could have been directed five
or six years ago when you said, and we're gonna
get the break, all Propaganda did was push, push push.

Speaker 1 (27:06):
But obviously and they were like, oh, you just don't
like us. Now it's here. RN.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
The ACC will be lucky, it gets four teams in
the NCAA tournament, It'll be lucky. That's just unheard of. RN.

Speaker 1 (27:17):
That's not why Louisville got in the conference.

Speaker 2 (27:19):
They got into the ACC because in the old days,
six seven, eight teams got in. More money, more teams
in the tournament, more money for the conference, more things
you can do for your school. That is, it's about money.
I hate to tell people that it is.

Speaker 4 (27:34):
They need to lead to be good. Yes, yesterday on
Propaganda Radio, they were paying. Both are new, Both new
coaches have done good job. I want to make that clear. Okay,
Pat Kelsey and Mark Pope are both on outstanding jobs.
They both had to build a roster within about sixty
days of taking a job. They both had roster rebuilds,

(27:59):
complete coaching staff rebuilds. Kentucky. You know, whether people would
have realized or not, Kentucky was in the same boat.
They had no returning roster, no returning coaches. They had
to rebuild just like a little bit okay, And they
were painting up with the same brush yesterday about you
know which one would you vote for coach of the year? Well,

(28:19):
first off, I don't think either one of them they're
gonna be coach of the year. But listen, let's get
something straight. Mark Pope now owns four quad one A
wins and he'd beat Yucky by eight cooks. So you
can't paint these guys with the same brush. I mean,

(28:41):
you may want to, and you may think I'm being biased.
I'm trying not to be here, but you got.

Speaker 2 (28:46):
To saying, is this and that Ryan is that they're
trying to say that from the dolgrums that Louisville has
been the last I don't say two years, the last six,
seven years, eight years, which going on with my program,
we've been in the doldrums that there's a bright light
coming back, but no coach Polk in Kentucky has done

(29:07):
a fine job. And they're gonna be tested tonight. They're
gonna be tested. I'm the one cat fans I said
ten and eight, Shannon said eleven and seven. I've had
people twelve and six. I'm staying with my ten and eight,
five hundred and this year quality is a quality year.
I'm just being honest with people. So Ron, we gotta

(29:27):
get the break is already seven thirty eight. Great call,
it's Esports Radio Anthony. When we come back, we gotta
talk a little football Eve Sports Radio. But talk to
you in a second.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
Welcome back to EVE Sports Radio seven forty two. Got
Shannon behind the glass, Anthony throwing.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
It to you. Give me sports of the day. What's
going on in sports?

Speaker 3 (29:48):
Yeah, so we got tons. Obviously, today we have our
first round of the Swing twenty five l I T
Tournament bracket. Obviously we have all sixteen teams tenn'ed it
off today. Games are starting at five thirty pm. All
will wait up to seven thirty pm.

Speaker 4 (30:02):
Got a couple of.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
Good games going on.

Speaker 4 (30:03):
Obviously, we've got my.

Speaker 3 (30:04):
Ballot Bruins taking on Fern Creak ten and six dollars.

Speaker 4 (30:08):
Will get that six seed.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
You know, they might have just a little dirty but
you know, I'm just biased.

Speaker 2 (30:11):
You know six seeds exactly, we are biased.

Speaker 3 (30:18):
Multiple l I T champs. I just I don't see
the sixth seed, but hey, you know, I see how
it is. But obviously you know we got the front
runner out there, Manuals what twelve and two, and then
also Saint Xavier eleven and two.

Speaker 4 (30:28):
I've got to.

Speaker 3 (30:29):
See play this year, and I was depressed, have to
say the least. I like the young kid, the freshman.
I don't know why I forget his name all the time,
and then I try to find it, I can't find it.
It's gotta be the most frustrating thing on the playing
for me.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
Well, we know, we know Males is Jordan's.

Speaker 4 (30:45):
So Josh Lindsey, Josh Linley, Josh.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
Lindsay is the young man exactly exactly, But.

Speaker 3 (30:53):
I think they do have an all around nominal team.
The hope I know, I hope he can turn it
around four and eight. And Trinity is just it almost
looks it looks looks unreal. Trinity is always the powerhouse.

Speaker 4 (31:07):
Usually Sam Xavier is decent.

Speaker 3 (31:09):
But they're not as good as what they were when
we played Saying Xavier even a couple of years before that.
When I saw the record, their records were you know,
they were average. There were good records, they weren't great.
There's usually Trinity as a team that you had to
worry about, especially when it came to on the private
schools guy, there was usually Trinity's Casey Y and Cal
and you didn't really have to worry about as much.
Sam Xavier was usually second. But four and eight, that's

(31:31):
I hate to say it, that's the worst record in
the l I T right now, other than senatat two
and eight in Cal at two and six. That's the
only thing with Cal. Cal doesn't play a lot of games.
They've only played eight games this year.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
That's amazing. But I guess with the weather, Anthony, maybe
I can't believe that. I'm gonna tell you what. Yeah,
you need to get out and watch Jordan Mitchell with
the freshman a male he Anthony six ' four. I
told people not yet, but he could be the next
Allen Houston. He's going to be six to six when
he leaves here. He is a really good player, just
like the young man at Saint Xavier. The city finally

(32:07):
has true freshmen, Anthony, that are really good. I'm not
talking about five ten good. I'm talking about both of
them are going to be six three to six six.
Both of them are very athletic and play can shoot.
That are going to be very good, going to be
highly recruited by all the colleges in the country. Kind
of an exciting time again for basketball. We've been missing this.
We just have to keep those two kids. If I

(32:29):
have to pull a ali, if I have to stop
the planes, the trains, the bus station, we just can't
have them transferring out.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
I don't want to hear that junk.

Speaker 2 (32:36):
They will be recruited from Male High School and Saint Xavier.
They don't have to go anywhere, and that's just a misnomer.

Speaker 1 (32:44):
They do not.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
So I wanted to be in this dilemma. I was like,
are they even going to stay in louiss The real
thing is good.

Speaker 1 (32:50):
Reason, no reason not to.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
And it's just and a lot of them that have
left Anthony haven't played where they've gone.

Speaker 1 (32:57):
That's the funny thing.

Speaker 2 (32:58):
Then they're transferred back to somewhere else, transfer back to
somewhere else.

Speaker 1 (33:01):
They don't have to leave to be recruited. I don't
know when that started. Anthony.

Speaker 2 (33:05):
If you can play, they will find you, period, point blank.
They found Butch Beard at Breckinridge County and UCLA recruited HM, Anthony.
We're talking about the sixties. Butch Beard, no cams, Anthony,
no television. Anthony just magazines and newspapers, was recruited by UCLA.
If you can play, they'll find you. It's just all

(33:26):
there's to it. I don't know who started this, but
they lied again to make people believe this madness. But yeah,
we got the LT. What else we got going on?

Speaker 1 (33:34):
What's going on with the college side tonight?

Speaker 3 (33:37):
Oh, we got a couple of big college games coming up.
Obviously we have U of L in Kentucky both playing
to night, big big games. Kentucky, No, I hate to say.
Their schedule never gets easier.

Speaker 4 (33:48):
I will say that much.

Speaker 3 (33:49):
It only gets worse throughout the season, which sucks to say.
But they do have They host the thirteen and three
text saying them AGAs tonight. UK does have a favorite
spread of six and a half on this game. Over
on this game is one hundred and fifty nine points.
They're there and be nothing but a score. In fact,
that's eighty points piece.

Speaker 2 (34:07):
How Kentucky plays, that's how Kentucky belaves. If they do
make you Anthony, they can score, they can make change.
They do need to learn how to guard the yard
a little bit better. They need to get a little
bit better defensively. But they can score the ball, they
can make change. Now, I'm gonna tell you this, Anthony Buzz,
good friend of mine. Buzz donated ten thousand dollars to

(34:28):
Simmons cause of Kentucky after he saw our documentary during
the final four what six seven years ago.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
He's made donations since then.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
He is going to dirty this game up, Anthony, Kentucky
is gonna come out bumped and bruised. Listen to me,
Cat fans, you'll really be upset with the officials tonight
because if they swallow their whistle and let the teams play,
it will be a football game. Buzz believes in physical play.
Oh Anny, this one is gonna be a war. So
they better get ready. Better buckle up, but a cup

(34:58):
because tonight's game. Cat's better be ready to be physical.
I mean just it's a tremendously And then like you say,
you blink your eye, you've got Alabama.

Speaker 1 (35:06):
Come on, Anthony, sometimes you have to give credits.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
The SEC is a monster this year period. So yeah, great,
good job. So let's go. We've got those two games.
And your mom just left and she's listening to you
saying you're doing a great job like always, and I'm
doing a bad job, Anthony. You know that's how it is.
You get all the accolades, I get all to blame.
So let's talk about last night's game. That's about last

(35:33):
night's football game, Anthony. Oh gosh, before we you know
we're gonna go to break it SEPN forty eight. Let's
get our last break in at and when we come back,
I want to express to people that players do play
poorly in first half of games, but coaching decisions are irrehissible.
I can't believe the decisions that they're making. EVE Sports

(35:53):
Radio will talk to you all after the break. Welcome
back to EVES Sports Radio. How quickly the show has passed?
Seven fifty one, Anthony. Before we jump into last night's game,
I want to make sure Cardinal fans the passing of
Ricky Gallen played with that seventy five seventy six Final
four team six eleven center. Everyone remembers the big alfro

(36:14):
that he used to wear. Just a quiet young man
work with the Boys and Girls Club, did a tremendous
job in the city of Tampa, and a great loss
to one of our fraternity members. So rest in peace,
Ricky Gallen and also tomorrow. We've always talked about great
athletes Wesley Cox and Bill Butler, Denny Crumb's first year

(36:35):
at Louisville. I'm going to tell you a top three
athlete ever will be on with us tomorrow. Alvin Simms.
I got a chance to coach Alvin my first year
at Louisville and Denny's assistant his senior year with Dewan Wheat.
We lost to North Carolina from going to the Final four.
Alvin Simms a top three athlete and a great player,
great person, done a great job with his family. He'll

(36:57):
be on with us tomorrow. So Anthony, tell me what
you think about the Vikings game. Quickly, Vikings were just
a Sam Donald played poorly.

Speaker 1 (37:07):
It happens. But what did you think of the game?

Speaker 2 (37:11):
You know what?

Speaker 8 (37:12):
I think. Sam Donald has an impeccable regular season, but
I've known him from the Panthers. Didn't they got playoff Donald?
That is fineest right there. I'm just gonna go ahead
and tell you some players are good in the regular season,
and when that pressure comes around for the playoffs, they
don't show up like you expect him to. And I
don't want to sit here in bash a player. But
Sam Donald is one of those players. He's a great

(37:34):
regular season. But to be like Sam Donald's gonna be
our quarterback to take us to the super Bowl, that's
not gonna happen, just not right now. In his career,
he's he's been in the NFL a great time. I
think he's above average quarterback. He's as Stargian quarterbacks. This
year he was top ten, top fifteen, he was a
growing the best backups in the NFL for a long time,
but the best backups for a long time in the NFL.

(37:56):
But a Super Bowl contending quarterback, He's just not that
coin for a player right now.

Speaker 2 (38:02):
Okay, Anny, there are quite a few quarterbacks had a
tough spot this weekend, justin Herbert Jordan love All did.
But I'm gonna tell people this UCLA nineteen eighty Anthony
I stunk the gym up the first half, and when
I got to watch the game forty years later, I
saw that a lot of my teammates did also got me.

Speaker 1 (38:22):
But I'm gonna be honest with you.

Speaker 2 (38:24):
When Kevin O'Connell went for it on fourth down when
it was seventeen to three right before halftime at the
fifty Anthony, and they they got sacked. He gave the
game away, Anthony. Coaches aren't supposed to make irrational decisions.
That's all that I've seen lately. I don't get it anymore.
It's like they've gotten arrogant, they've gotten cocky. Oh, I
don't care. Let's just go for it. That's not what

(38:46):
we pay coaches for, Anthony. You pay coaches to make
good business decisions. Seventeen to three, that game's not over.
We don't know if Sam Donald would not have played
better in the second half.

Speaker 1 (38:58):
He has the ability to, and there were four three.
He is a good quarterback.

Speaker 2 (39:02):
Yes, he played poorly last week in Detroit, and he
played poorly last night, But it doesn't mean he could
not have played better in the second half. But when
your coach makes a decision that he made at the
end of the half to your quarterbacks struggling, let's just
think this through everyone. Sam Donald was struggling in the
first half. He was Your offensive line was struggling, they
were your defense was struggling. They were moving the ball

(39:24):
at will. All these things are true, and your mind
st I don't care. I'm going to go for a
fourth to down on the forty eight yard line. Come on,
they get sacked, they go down. And I'm not saying
Sam can play or not. I'm just saying that coach's decisions.
You're right, he was poor when he was with Carolina,

(39:46):
but coach's decisions are supposed to put their players in
positions to be successful. What he did was set it
up for a complete disaster, which it was. It was
the worst playoff game i'd seen. Minnesota was ill prepared
to play, and I was just surprised. I truly thought
that they would bounce back after the Detroit game, Anthony.

(40:07):
I was expecting a better showing. But when O'Connell made
that decision, I said, I just don't get it anymore.
I don't get coaches. All the things I said is
Shreadn't Sam was playing poorly? Why would you say he's
going to complete the pass. Your offensive line couldn't block anyone.
Your defense wasn't stopping the charges at all. Excuse me,

(40:27):
not the chargers, the rams at all. So Anthony, what
did you expect?

Speaker 1 (40:33):
Well?

Speaker 2 (40:33):
Ends up being a sack they seeing, You know, touchdown
games over at halftime, game is over at halftime. I
went to bed at I watched first three minutes, watched
them drive it down, get another field, go of the rams.
I said, I'm done. I went to sleep, and I
mean that shouldn't happen in playoff games. It shouldn't.

Speaker 1 (40:49):
So what we've got is this.

Speaker 2 (40:53):
You know, we've got coaches that have to make better decisions.
We've got coaching decisions by owners. We've got to see
if owners can make correct decisions for their franchises. Jerry
Jones has been doing this for a long time, and
he's been making poor hires ever since. Jimmy Johnson his
very first hire, a real football coach. He ran that team.
He made great trades, Anthony, you talked about trades. He

(41:16):
traded hershel Walker. We're as sitting there going you traded
hershel Walker for nothing but young draft picks. He went
and got Ken Norton junior. People don't even remember. These
names have to be old. But he wouldn't got I
lived in Dallas, That's why I know he wouldn't got
players defensively small quick We're like, what are they doing?

Speaker 1 (41:33):
The next thing you know, Dallas is playing for super
Bowls after super Bowls after super Bowls.

Speaker 2 (41:39):
So anyway, great job, Like always Anthony, be safe. You
all have a great day, watch all the sports. If
you can make it out, seven's college plays at night
five and seven. I'd love to see you. Ten dollars
for adults, five dollars. I let kids in for free.
I'm at the gate, so just bring your kids to
have a fantastic time at These Words Radio. I love you,
talk to you tomorrow.
