Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome back to Eve Sports Radio. March the twenty seventh,
twenty twenty five. It is Thursday. Of course, it's March madness. Employers,
No work's gonna get done. They'll be talking about the games.
I know that's not going on during the day, but
they started seven thirty eight and everyone will be talking
about the games.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
So I just give it a break, employers.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
That's all Trey get Republic, Mike Vining a bluegrass Billy Hayes.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Town and Country and kind of dodge. Everybody.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Just take a chill, peel. Nothing's gonna happen today. That's
all there is to it. It is what it is,
court physical therapy. It has to go on there. People
have to be rehabbed. So you all don't get a break.
But all my restaurants, everyone else, guys, and it is
March madness.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
So welcome back to the show. And I'm being honest
with you.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
You can't handle the truth, and the city of Louisville,
we're gonna talk about you all today. I don't know
about you all, but I am tired of seeing presidents
being resigning. That's not the truth, we know that, but
resigning from the University of Louisville. We're gonna get into that.
I've never seen anything like it, but sometimes people can't

(01:15):
handle the truth.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
We're gonna talk about that.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
Of course, we know major League Baseball, and my younger
son's gonna bring us up to date on all those
things are here.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
I still can't believe.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
That Jye Soto is gonna make seven hundred and sixty
five million dollars over the next fifteen years. All I
can say to my mom that's upstairs sleeping for their
beautiful self. You had me too early. When I'm mad
at you, gotta lee. They're paying real money now. So anyway,
welcome back to the sports radio. Let's bring on my
youngest son, Anthony Eves, to the show. And what's going on.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
We got a lot going on today. I was gonna
say good morning, and obviously good morning the sports world
is we've been We've been waiting for Thursday. I've been
waiting for Thursday because obviously we know best team in
the country plays tonight.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
You know, I got to go ahead and throw no, who.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Is that best? Who is the best team? Who are
you describing.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
All the best team?

Speaker 1 (02:11):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (02:12):
No, no, no, we're not talking about no We're not
talking about the not these teams that scraped by on
the round of sixty four, We're not talking about that.
I'm talking about the Duke Blue Devils to blowout wins
so far in the tournament. We are trying to throw
out there and solidifying that this year we're making.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
A push.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Arkansas or Florida. Come on, you didn't say Duke. You
said Florida.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
No Florida, Florida. Florda got lucky, they barely won. Okay,
well you're you're well, I don't know if you don't
have Florida at one point.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Okay, he said, I want I want Florida to lose.
I've got Houston. I'm trying to win my contest. It's money.
It's fair game for everyone. Everyone. You're out there to
be fair game. But out of now, I'm gonna pay myself.
Yes I am. Oh, yes it does in this one.

Speaker 5 (03:12):
It's fair.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
I didn't get paid out.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
And you know it's supposed to get paid out. Your
little punk, you're young punk.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
I'm not fair, that's all. I'm the daddy. You the son.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
That doesn't change. I can't whip you anymore, but dad,
I don't have to pay you. It is what it is.
Hen that's just you know, that's a parent's privilege. It's
called a parentsle we all have.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
When Houston doesn't win, that's that's my form of a
reverse whooping. See Houston lose now, will they lose today?
You know, would be realistic. I don't think so they
play for due. I'm just I'm not super sold on Purdue.
I take Houston over them.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
But and there, that's tomorrow and we're going to those games.
That's Friday, Yeah, tomorrow. Yeah. Kentucky Kentucky Tennessee, good old right, Shannon,
don't be mad at me, good old Rocky Top three
times in a row, Shannon, tell me truthfully, do you
think Kentucky can get them for the third time this year?

(04:15):
Three times in a row?

Speaker 4 (04:17):
I think they can do it? Okay, yeah, I mean
we just watched Alabama bea Kentucky three times this year,
So why can't Kentucky do that to Tennessee.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Okay, Well, let's we'll find out. We'll find out. But anyway,
I want it. I want people's comments. So I want
your calls. I want you to call in, let me
know what your thing's gonna happen. Shannon's waiting for you,
so we'll get to it. So Anthony, while we're waiting
for people, and I want to hear what people think
about these games today. This sixteen is one of the
better Sweet sixteens in a long time. I know everybody's

(04:48):
talking about the Cinderellas aren't in it. I don't care.
The best teams advance, guys, that's what this is all about.
If a Cinderella advances, it advances.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
If it does not, it does not.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
That's the way it is. This is not participation. This
is winner, go home period. I've told people that all
the time. I don't want to hear about Cinderella's I
don't want hear about any of that junk the best teams.
It's one game, winner, go home period. Point blank. Maryland
escaped with the last second buzzer beater. Okay, thank you escaped.

(05:20):
But guys, I do not want to hear any more
about all the white It's NCAA tournament. I went to
two out of four final fours, and again I could
whind and say should have been three.

Speaker 4 (05:33):
US.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Reid hit a seventy footer to beat US. I think
one of the first true buzzer beaters. I was standing
next to I mean forty whatever years ago, forty five,
forty six years ago, I was standing directly next to
a sixty footer that went in at the buzzer in
the tournament Austin.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
So, guys, I don't wanna hear to whind it.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Bottom line is, we took our jersey off and gave
it to the trainer equipment manager and said we got
to get ready for next year. In the following year,
we went back to the final four. That's what this
is all about. So, and we're going before we do
our national news, we don't get our first caller on.
Let's bring Ron to the show for mishe.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
Ron? What's up with you man? Long time no hear
from you? Saw?

Speaker 4 (06:12):
Good morning, Good morning, guys, all was good morning. Why
you guys are arguing about Duke in Florida. I just
want to remind you that the team and beat them
both this year.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Who's that now? Who did that? Well?

Speaker 5 (06:27):
I don't know you'll.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
Talk about.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Who did it?

Speaker 1 (06:32):
You talk about your wildcats. You talk about your wild cats.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
I should know they did.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Hey, I speak about one hundred and six to one
hundred games. That was one of the better games, if
not the best game of the year one hundred and
six to one hundred.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
So great.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
Uh. I agree with you about the stuff of U
of L. Jerry, And it's all covered in secrecy. Nobody
gets to know why, you know, and.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Open Records Act. We're gonna find out starting Open Records Act.
We gotta wait, We'll have to wait.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
But Jerry, let's let's be honest. The last ten or
eleven years, it's been one thing.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
After another after another.

Speaker 4 (07:17):
Focus. This is the third president just a very few years.
You know, the way Ben and Pooty left and now
this lady and it just it just goes on and on.
And we know how that the one before left disgrace.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
Yes, But anyways, there's been some James Ramsey, I know,
but I mean, just Ryan, I'm gonna get into it.
But you've got James Ramsey, You've had Pinto, you've had Gonzales,
you've had nearly been a Pooty. I mean, we've had
a Ton, you've had check Sel. I mean, yeah, Lee,

(07:53):
It's it never ends, it never ends.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
I'm beginning, I'm beginning to ends there's as much problem
with the board whereas there is the leadership.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
That has to be looked at. I mean, without a doubt,
things have to change over there. It just is what
it is. We have to wait and.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
See, hopefully right.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Hopefully that there's some legitimate reason why a woman that
came here two years ago with February something February the
first twenty twenty three is gone already, hopefully. But if
it's one of those what we always find out when
the Opening Records Act finally tells us when we have
to dig down, because the University of Louisville will not
just tell us what happens, not going to happen.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
It's just not going heard some things yesterday. But I'm
not ready to go public with it yet until.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
We have to wait exactly, and I have to, but
I don't. I stay away from the allegedly until I
can truly get a grasp. But bottom line is my
opinion is there's too much turnover. I don't care what
they say, period, point blanket makes no sense.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
And more and more payments going out to four hundred
thousand yep.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Always money's always going out.

Speaker 4 (09:02):
Now, now what I really call about. I've been sitting
back for the last three four weeks, actually two months.
And I didn't call in here to reign on nobody's
party or the job they've done, But I just want
to put some facts out. Jerry Kelsey has done one

(09:25):
heck of a job that turning a little around. Yes,
you know, they're in a much much better place than they.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
Were a year ago, truly, without a doubt.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (09:35):
And with that being said, though all the propaganda radio
on a lot of the news media seemed to want
to group Kelsey and Pope together. You know, well, Pope
has done a good job at Kentucky, but Kelsey's done
a great job, and all that talk about coach of
the Year and this and that. I want to point
out some facts because I don't think you can group

(09:59):
them together. And here's why. They both came in about
the same time. They both took programs that had not
one returning player. They both took programs they had to
build coaching staffs, they had to build rosters in about
six weeks to two months, and they both did that. Now,

(10:23):
let's look at what's happened since Mark Pope has beat
eight top fifteen teams, Chelsea's beat none, Mark Pope beat
Kelsey straight up by eight points. Mark Pope has advanced

(10:47):
to the Sweet sixteen with his first team, Chelsea didn't
win a turn game. Mark Pope played in maybe the
best conference from top to bottom in the history of
college basketball. Kelsey played in one of the worst or
the worst.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
Acc I know of the worst, yes, no question.

Speaker 4 (11:11):
So how do you put all that out there together
side by side. I know what the records say, I
know about the twenty six and seven, and I know
what folks record.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
Fantastic record, fantastic record, yes, fantastic.

Speaker 4 (11:24):
But one played, one played in the JV League and
one played in a meat grinder. So to compare these two,
I'll be honest with you, And like I said, this
is not a a I know it's going to come
off like that. Polk's done a much better job. And
that's just my opinion, and that's not the narrative that's

(11:45):
being driven, especially in this town. And if somebody can
argue these are facts, I've given you. These aren't opinions.
If anybody can argue these facts, then give them to me.
Right now. Kentucky's got four victories over teams that were
main in the Sweet sixteen right now, exactly, Uh uh,
lil don't have none of those kind of victories this year.

(12:07):
You know, they held up their two victories over Clemson
as they're shining sard and they went out to McNee
State the.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
First game of the term, the most embarrassing thing I've
ever seen, thirteen points in the first half. I'll I
won't forget that, Ron. But here's why I'm gonna. I'm
gonna explain to you why. Here's why that propaganda is propaganda.
That's what they're paid to do, and that's what they're
going to do.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
And they don't live in reality. They are not gonna.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
Tell the truth. And we know that that's kind of
where we are right now. I'm gonna I'm gonna do
a segment on a coach Hurley and he doesn't live
in reality either.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
You know, there's not always because you win me and
you're in reality.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
But the situation here is that because Louis has been down,
and of course Kenny Payne.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
They love to not coach Payne. They loved to knock you.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
He did it all, he'll do it, got me, he'll
do it.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
He did it all right, he did at all.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
He brought The only reason we're in this position is
that coach Payne did it, no one else because they're
frightened of the other coaches that were here, period point blank.
So Kenny is the whipping dog. He made it easy
for them. Yes, but that is the reason. That's why
I still get the tweets. Jerry, we don't hear you.
And Coach Beard louis was winning. I'm glad Loui was winning.
I'm glad Coach Kelsey did a great job.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
They did.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
But the bottom line is the narrative is that Kenny
Payne did this, and Jerry's and butch Beard wanted Kenny Payne.
So you're not going to hear the end of that.
They're going to run this in the ground until it's over,
even though they can.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
I don't listen.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
I don't listen, but I know that people tell me.
So here's the deal, run because it's easy. Got me,
it's easy. They're not going to talk about any of
the other coaches and all the things that transpired and
all those things because they're friends of those coaches, or
they have friends that are friends of those coaches, are
o athletic directors that University of Louisville. That's why we're

(13:59):
still Churan out presidents. They're never No one's going to
ever admit Louisville for some reason, is on shaky ground
top to bottom, not just the athletics, the entire schools,
on top to bottom. We have changes all of a sudden,
you know. And honestly, we found out I did three
days ago, on today's Thursday. Yes, when they were moving

(14:19):
her stuff out of the office. Security we found out.
I knew two days ago. I said, say anything about it.
I sent Butcher tweet. I said a few other people,
letting them know, guys, it's something. We have no idea
what's going on, but it's going on again at Louisville.
So Ron, when you have your own paid programming, they're
just not going to tell the truth. Because he did
a great job. But no question, the ACC was the

(14:42):
worst league ever, and honestly that's what people Eastern Kentucky.
Ron would have come in fifth place in a SEC
this year. And I mean that right, So what do
you take? No, not just the truth? The league stay
so that in that respect they're looking at the record only,
which is fine, but the league when you're six and
five and you go eighteen into an ACC, you know,

(15:04):
and then you go to the NCAA tournament and we're
down twenty.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
You know that the league did not prepare them for anything,
and that's unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (15:12):
That's all. So I'm going to put it all on
the a SEC.

Speaker 4 (15:16):
I want to clarify one other thing. I don't want
people to think this is a I'm calling in to
say Kelsey didn't do a good job, because that's not true.
He did do a good job. He did next week,
he did, He won the games he was with. Yes,
But one other thing I want to add to this,
And I've heard a lot of this from the media
in town that you know, well, you know, look, they

(15:41):
lost Cason prior and this and met early year. But
I want to say this, no team in America has
had to manage more key injuries in key games than
the one elections in this year. He's been without two
of his best players for a big portion of the
year in big games. I might add too, Oh, yes.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
No question, right, fact, I mean, there's no question about gotcha.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
But I got no complaint with that, right, I've got
no complaint with that. I do, And it's not a
knock toward coach Kelsey or what Josh hurt has done
with that football and basketball program. He's done a fantastic job.
But the a secs to improve. If it doesn't improve,
it's gonna be the Dodo bird. We'll be looking for
another conference. I just want to tell people the truth.

(16:30):
They don't like to hear it. If it doesn't improve,
we're going to.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
Be all this. We're you know, we're saying this about
the conference. But the truth of the matter is too
Duke could very well win it all.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
Yes, yes, no, they're really good. Those young kids. Don't
say that because that new believes that. I gotta get
the break. Ron Great, call you too, Anthony. Can you
believe Ron said do could win it all? A cat fan?
Oh my god?

Speaker 3 (17:02):
It's black realistic answer right there. That's why I'm not.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
You two are sick.

Speaker 1 (17:08):
When we come back, we're gonna hear a little bit
from Danny Hurley and we're gonna talk a little bit
more about this University of Louisville uh not termination resignation
of Kim Checkel, former president at University of Louisville. Eastworts
Radio will talk to you in a minute. Welcome back
to E Sports Radio seven twenty six again.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
I'm gonna throw it.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
To Anthony for the national news. Boy, we've got high
school state tournament news. But I'm gonna throw that to Anthony.
But if anyone remembers a buzzer beater before us reads
nineteen eighty one shot in Austin against of course Louisville,
we were defending champions. That's why I'm gonna talk a
little bit after Anthony about my man, mister Hurley, because

(17:51):
you know, he thinks that winning too puts him in
a different realm. But winning is winning. I give him
credit for winning to but behavior still behavior. We're gonna
talk about that. But I just want to know if
anybody remembers called in and let me know if there
was a buzzer beater in the tournament that shocked the world.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
That's what I want to know anyway, and give it
the national news.

Speaker 3 (18:13):
Yeah, of course, obviously got tons of stuff going on.
We finally got the high school tournament kicked off yesterday. Dude,
it seemed like forever getting started, but he finally did.
But the biggest upset, I gotta say, probably of the season,
but I don't think it is as surprising as I
thought it would. But I felt it coming. I just

(18:35):
you know, it reminded me of a lot of our season.
You know, we have a phenomenal season, beat all the
teams in Kentucky and then got to the tournament.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
And just fell a little bit short and.

Speaker 3 (18:43):
Learn the similar boat as us. But Jay Town did
defeat Saint Xavier sixty four to fifty nine in that
first round against that whoo.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
Gosh, Anthony, I mean, Anthony, I'm gonna have to buy
John Cartney Carney's Galleries a coke.

Speaker 2 (19:05):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
I feel sorry for you. Oh my good. I can't
do that way. I do feel for the players. Phenomenal
year and coach Klein does it the right way.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
Guys.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
When I walked in his gym and that some bucks
said put your shirt den in, I was like, thank you, Lord.
I just can't guys, I can't stand it. I was like,
thank you Lord. That's all I had to hear, being
honest with you. But congratulations to Jaytown, super win. Richard Duncan,
coach at Jaytown. Moving forward, congratulations. We have to talk

(19:37):
about Jaytown now, But I do want to tell coach
Cline job, well done.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
I hate that to you.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
Didn't get I spoke with them, Anthony, and I told them,
it's not about winning it. It's about preparing to win
it and trying to win it. But only one team
wins it. Same thing with this NCAA tournament. Only one
team's gonna win it. That means everyone else was not successful,
if that's how you gauge your success level.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
But they prepared and tried to win it. Great year.
Keep your head up. All to the sat Xavier.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
Players, chin high, chest, forward, shoulders back. Job well done,
and congratulations to Jay Town go ahead an.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
Of course, and obviously some of the other games we
did have gone as well. South Oldham did defeat Danville
Christian sixty seven to forty four. Then we had Ashton
Blazer defeat Callaway County eighty one to sixty four, and
then we had Bowling Green defeat a Derek County in
a close one fifty two to fifty one. For all
the games that we had go on yesterday, the rest
of the Sweet sixteen games will be held today, later
on today and this afternoon as well. For those advancing

(20:45):
onto the Elite eight. Now great, we can't skip. We
can't skip our NBA segment because you know it's getting close.
It's winding down. We're past All Star break, We're go
winding down towards the end of the season, we'll start getting.

Speaker 4 (20:56):
Into the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
But we do have to acknowledge two guys from the
state of Kentucky, and I would say from the state
that played in the state. Obviously, we have Donovan Mitchell
leading his team the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference
and Shae Gills Alexander leading his team in the Western Conference.
You know, I saw the potential in SGA. I know
people are gonna hate me. I did not see this
much potential out of Downvan Mitchell. I'm gonna be completely honest.

(21:18):
I thought he was good at U of L. But
what I thought he would have been taking his team to
almost sixty wins in the season, all star leading score
and points.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
Probably not.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
I just I don't know. At a high school where
everybody just kind of saw him as an athletic guard,
more of a dunker, but he has evolved into something
completely different in his game over the last ten years,
and he's he's a superstar.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
Now.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
That's so you saw Shay Annie I George Williams is
I knew she would be a good player. I never
thought this level Anny, that boy that was numbers are
starting to approach.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
He's doing Jordan things. Now we're not.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
He's not Michael Jordan, but Jesus, I mean, s g A,
It's it's frighten me. I can't wait. I really do
want to watch the NBA playoffs. I don't want I
want to see if Cleveland will progress for Donovan, and
I want to see if Okac Guy's okayc is the
best even NBA. But that Western Conference, the Nuggets are

(22:22):
good with Joka, I'm not gonna say the Lakers are good.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
I'm not worried about the Lakers. I'm just not.

Speaker 1 (22:27):
But there are a lot of good teams on that
side that are going to be challenging. So NBA ship,
they're going to be very good playoffs, very good playoffs.
So I'm waiting to see it. But Shay Gillick's Alexander Anthony,
that boy's m v P no offensive buds, he m
v P.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
Yeah, I don't know what they're even waiting for. They
should just give it to it. He's a bad man.

Speaker 3 (22:47):
I mean, watch had better numbers, I know, but.

Speaker 2 (22:52):
His team Jokers and Joka is just I mean, Joka
is just the truth.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
But I still think with the numbers, when you start
to look at their standings, you got to give Okasey
credit for what they're doing, the winning the way they're winning, Anthony.
Of course, you've got Cleveland with fifty eight wins, and
you've got Okay See with sixty. Denver's got forty six.
That's why the MVP has to go to SGA, has to.

(23:19):
I mean, that's just crazy. Sixty wins, Anthony, that's amazing.
So anyway, but you're right, we do have to start
to look at the NBA a little bit.

Speaker 2 (23:28):
So what else we got on the docum? What's going
on for tonight people?

Speaker 1 (23:38):
I'm sorry, itne somebody just sent to me. All right,
Ricky Bobby, second place is for losers. I said, oh,
good gosh, now we're talking about Ricky Bobby, Anthony. I'm
telling you, people who listen to our show, Anthony are
just flat damn crazy.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
That's all. Second place is for losers. I hear you.

Speaker 3 (23:59):
It's probably like a b In tweet right there.

Speaker 4 (24:01):
That's not landed.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
We say something like that. So anyway, but it wasn't planned.
It was Martin I've go to tell you the place
to go crazy. So what we got going on tonight? Though, Anthony,
who do we what do we have going on tonight?
Who's playing?

Speaker 4 (24:14):
So we got game?

Speaker 3 (24:19):
Well, Auburn doesn't play tonight, but we do have four
matchups going on tonight that are big games. Obviously, we
have Duke versus Arizona at nine forty pm. Tonight, we
got BYU versus Bama at seven pm, two of the
top five scoring teams in college basketball. It will be
a high scoring game, won't be a lot of defense.
So if you want to see a shootoff, that's the
game to tune into. At seven o'clock. Then we got Florid.

(24:42):
We got ob to Walter Clayton versus Derek Queen. Derek
Queen is going to have his hands full down there
with all those big men. But so it's Florida Floora's
got a lot to work on with Queen. We got
Florida versus Maryland at seven forty and I think we
got one of the closest games of the night. I think,
other than the Byubama game, it is Texas Tech versus Arkansas.
Texas Tech has been the sweep team in the tournament.
They haven't been talked about much. They've been kind of

(25:02):
just sliding under the radar. But they're kind of here now.
You know, Arkansas had a lot of buzz beating teams
and make them to the Sweet sixteen. Now they have
a very solid Texas Tech University team, and you know,
they know they have a couple of players. They have JT. Toppin,
who's a phenomenal player.

Speaker 1 (25:18):
M h.

Speaker 3 (25:19):
It's just it sounds crazy for them to make it
this far. I haven't seen a lot of games on
Texas Tech. I'm gonna be completely honest. I've seen maybe two.

Speaker 2 (25:26):
Or three, right right, I agree with I haven't watched
it much.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
I'm just telling you, Arkansas is a tough out, now,
isn't it funny? From oh to five, Cow's gonna get fired.
They're a tough out, Anthony. I know it's a three
seed against a ten matchup, but I'd love to see
someone let me know what the line is for Vegas.
I'd like to know what Las Vegas things is gonna
happen in this game. That's all really, it's not.

Speaker 3 (25:51):
It's not a big spread on that game. The game
is pretty close. The game is five and a half points.

Speaker 2 (25:59):
Five and a half for Texas Tech.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
Texas is five and a half. Duke in Arizona Duce
favored by nine and a half. Florida and Maryland. Florida
is favored by six and a half, and then Alabama
byu Bamma's favored by five and a half.

Speaker 2 (26:14):
Okay, gotcha? Excellent.

Speaker 1 (26:16):
Well, we've got games tonight, so we know what we're
going to be doing. Any We've got a caller and
then we're gonna get to break and we're gonna come
back with a little Hurley.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
Who's our next caller? Up? Shannon? Who do I have again? Ryan?
Welcome to the show. How are you right now?

Speaker 5 (26:29):
You doing Jerry? I remember that game, but you know
I'm old. I watched that game from start to pinnich Man.
It was one of the best games that's ever been.
But I got two or three things this morning. First
of all, Tuxas don't beat Tennessee and they coaching thang
that shouldn't be ascided till the end of the year.

(26:52):
And at portal, they shouldn't do that till the end
of the year because teams, the teams are in the tournament.
You know what I'm saying makes a little bit harder
on him because they're they're playing the game. But I
just want to tell you that my son did play
for Jade Town about thirty something years ago. He'll be
forty eight, and he set the bench. I tried to

(27:13):
get him go to camp and man the first white
the boards. She got remarried and they moved to Spencer
County and I went to every game and he played in. Uh,
he ain't go out like sophomore year. He was six six.
He grew like six inches in one year. And I
worked with him down at the Becher Park and uh uh,

(27:34):
I used to build a beat him, but when he
got about twelve, he beat me in and I never
could beat him again. But I wasn't any good. But
he could have done a lot better. But he is
doing great. He's got a fantastic job. He's got a
big house, and he's doing great. But uh, in this tournament,
in this tournament, and uh, Anthony Duke probably does have

(27:57):
the best team. But now if they play like Yukon did,
like they didn't nobody could even you know, hold a
candle to Yukon last year. But if they have a
bad game, to get the wrong matchup they could be beat.
Thanks for taking my call.

Speaker 1 (28:14):
No, of course, right, let's get to break. At seven
thirty seven, Ryan gave us his opinion. Ryan, thank you
for being a great parent, going to watch your son.
That's what you're supposed to do. It's e Sports Radio.
We'll be back at a minute. Welcome back to Eastports Radio.
We ran two breaks so that we wouldn't have to
rush Anthony. This last segment seven forty four is Esports Radio.

(28:36):
Phone numbers five zero two, five seventy nine hundred.

Speaker 2 (28:39):
We've got great games.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
I'm still got people sending me text for trying to
figure out was the US read the first buzzer beater.
I mean NCAA tournament buzzer beater. So I'm just trying
to find out if anyone knows one before then please
call in le chanon, No text me, tweet me, but
let me know. Now let's go straight to Hurley, Anthony.

(29:02):
Here's the deal after him and I've got real issues
with it, and you're going to get a chance to
listen to him again trying to explain himself out of
bad behavior, and that you kind of knew what they
were getting when they hired him and all the above,
I mean all the bad behavior. They knew it was
coming with me and all the above. And I hate

(29:23):
to say that. The NCAA, they do make bad choices.
They will hire anybody. But he is a superior coach.
He does a great job with his players.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
He does. But I want to let you all know
Coach Crumb said it best.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
Coach Crumb told his assistant coaches, we're not replacing players six,
seven and eight on the bench. We're replacing players one,
two and three. That's how you get better. So I
just want you all to understand Coach Hurley had great
players when he went back to back. He didn't have
great players this year, and they weren't a great team,

(29:58):
period point blank. A great coach well, without great players,
I don't care who he thinks he is, you're not
gonna win one, period point So I want you to
listen to Coach Early explaining himself with his behavior walking
off the floor, and then I'm gonna give you all
the real deal.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
Sometimes people can't handle the truth. Play it for me, please.

Speaker 6 (30:20):
It's my rocket fuel, it's what it's what makes me successful.
In large part.

Speaker 2 (30:26):
The uh, you know, the.

Speaker 6 (30:28):
Intensity, the the intensity, the desire, the competitive fire. It's
what attracts my players. To me, it's uh, it's what's
been able to attract uh, you know success uh for
me at this at this aspect as a coach. Right.
But at times, yeah, I've got to apologize to my
wife and say I'm sorry, I was embarrassing. I shouldn't

(30:50):
have said that, and I trust me, I've had these
moments throughout my career. You know, this is what yu
Kond knew they were getting. This is how I've coached
obviously my entire career. It's just it's and I'm not
bragging about that. I'm just surprised that people have just
discovered it. If they're college basketball experts, they could have

(31:11):
been breaking me down the last couple of years or
even five years ago, you know, getting into it with
fans or coaching my ass off. I've been doing this
for a long time, so you know, it's it's one
of those things where you know, again.

Speaker 2 (31:27):
That's all I needed. Jan Thank you.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
I think you'll get a chance to hear enough of
the excuses, but I wanted you all to listen to it,
and I hope you are listening. Closely, parents and all
our listeners. It's my rocket fuel. Okay, I got you.
Whatever that means, I have no idea what that means.
The second statement that he made though Anthony, he told everyone,

(31:52):
it's my competitive fire. It's what draws players to me. Okay,
that's my issue. That was my issue two days ago.
That's been my issue with him for a long time,
and a lot of coaches.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
I told you all.

Speaker 1 (32:09):
Bobby Knight came to Jerry Eves's home at eighty eight
ten Lynn hall Court got me. Bobby Knight had tried
to recruit Jeff Lamp and Lee Raker and did not
get either one. He recruited them properly. He went, came
to games, came to practices. He came to my home
and asked my dad. He needed to know a decision.

(32:29):
He says, I'd love to have your son, but I
went through issues the year before with Jeff and Lee
and didn't get either one of them. Coach Mitt takes
a job. They're supposed to be coming to Indiana. They
both go to Virginia. He put his foot on my
coffee table, which was my dad's coffee table in my
living room. My dad, who's all five foot seven, look daddy,
military guide, just like Bobby. Look at his staff said,

(32:53):
we appreciate you coming to talk to our son, but
you can go ahead and leave now because my son's
not giving anyone a statement right now.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
Don't care who you are.

Speaker 1 (33:02):
Not worried about your competitive fire, not worried about how
mey chase you through a cross, not worried about you
tapping joe By Hall on the head after you beat
him like you were some big timer.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
My dad told him get the atll out. That was it.
He left again.

Speaker 1 (33:17):
Here I am seventeen years old, impressionable, watching to see
how my father handled things. So when coach Hurley told
you about that competitive fires with draws players to him,
bad behavior, it's bad behavior. It's that old thing I
heard a long time ago about it's street cred when

(33:38):
things happened at certain universities and coaches were coaching them,
and oh, the players are going to love that, because
that's street cred. Because black players can't have integrity and
parents can't have integrity and can't tell people to their
face what is right and wrong. Just fight you all,
just giving it to you all straight. So when I
had prostitutes and dorms. I heard a lot of propaganda

(34:01):
saying street cred will be able to recruit. Competitive nature
draws players to me. Bad behavior should not draw anything
to you, period, point blank.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
Should not.

Speaker 1 (34:14):
There are a lot of good coaches out there, excellent coaches.
But again he was insinuating that that's some of the
reasons why my great players.

Speaker 2 (34:24):
Want to play for me. It was my bad behavior
and I'm gonna tell you all again that behavior. But
African Americans not approached the same.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
No matter how bad y'all want to tell me and
how much y'all turn me off, I'm gonna tell you
the truth. Sometimes you can't handle the truth. I got
a little note in my book, Anthony. I'm gonna show
it to you. I'm gonna post it. Oh Myana, and
now have you do this for Anthony. It was Thursday nine,
four twenty. The function of education is to teach one

(34:58):
to think intensely and to think critically. Intelligence plus character
that is the go of true educators and integrity. That
was nine. I still have that note. I'm gonna post
that note so again when they hit you with that's

(35:19):
what draws my players to me. Nah nah, that's an
awful statement. That's all I'm gonna say to you. Integrity
is what should draw players to you. Characters, what should
draw players to you. Handling adversity. I've been asking everybody
about these buzzer beaters. Guys, I could care less that

(35:42):
us read beat me. I'm being honest with you. I
could care less. It doesn't mean anything to me. I
don't think about it at night. I don't lose sleep.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
Over it at night.

Speaker 1 (35:49):
I talk to you all about it, but it does
not I'm being honest with you. I've never thought about
it when I have family issues, when I've got to
go through things with my boys, my daughters.

Speaker 2 (35:58):
Nope, it doesn't even my mind.

Speaker 1 (36:01):
But this is what crossed my mind when I saw
that a kid hit a seventy footer. We had just
won it the year before, we had won like eighteen
out of nineteen. Guys, we were rolling, and we were
beating ranked opponents.

Speaker 2 (36:15):
Got me.

Speaker 1 (36:17):
And the young man throws up for Arkansas at Hail
Mary in Austin, Texas. Hits to all nets. Seasons over done.
One more game. We go to the Final four again.
We had a chance to win it again. Guys, we
were really good. We had gotten over No Darryl Griffiths,
which was a big loss started two and seven, but
we were rolling little fans that remember we were rolling.

(36:42):
You know what happened. You know what coach Crumb did.
He shoug hat his Sutton's hand, walked off the floor.
He talked to us after the game with an integrity
and character. He told us to prepare ourselves to try
to win the next year. But we had a very
successful year. Trying to repeat a national championship is the
hardest thing in the world to do, and we did
it with Grayson Oyer. That's what he told us. That's

(37:06):
what I remember, not walking off the floor. I hope
they don't like they did us. I hope they don't
like a little spoiled brat kid. I told you, Danny
Hurley ain't scaring anybody, guys. I'm sixty six. Ain't scaring
anybody guys. This fake tough guy that you all get
into with these coaches or they're tough. He ain't scaring anybody, guys.

(37:28):
What they should stand on and be about is integrity
and character.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
That's all. That's why I'm after my university.

Speaker 1 (37:38):
I don't care what people say Jerry, you know, like Louiville,
screw you all. The bottom line is too many changes
means that they're sinking sands, means that things aren't on
stable ground, means that things have to be solidified point blank.

Speaker 2 (37:54):
Boom.

Speaker 1 (37:54):
I want to see a president for fifteen years. I
want to see them, get to see We hired Kim Chuck,
so we wanted to see her plan come intuition. No
plan is two years now. Unless there's a scandal, which
we're going to find out about Louisville fans, which we're
going to find there's going to be an open records Act.
We will find out closed session, what was said, what

(38:16):
the real reasons were, got me, which is what we
always have to do, and then we'll be able to say,
m there needs to be consistency at the university, point blank,
from top to bottom. I have no idea, Jerry, doctor
Jerry Bailey Bradley, Congratulations new president. No interim tag and

(38:39):
his interesting guys, No interim tag, no search committee, no nothing.
We got our person. Okay, we better have our person
this time or they need to fire the entire board.
No more excuses if you're wrong this much and since
two thousand and six, James Ramsey from two thousand and
two to twenty sixteen. I mean we've had intim We've

(39:03):
had postal Pinto Gonzales three interims.

Speaker 2 (39:08):
We've had ben A.

Speaker 1 (39:09):
Pooty twenty eighteen to twenty one, who went to Michigan
State who if you all remember, the heat was on,
people wanted her gone. That's just the truth. It's just
the truth. She beat the troops, that's all. She beat
the posse, that's all. Then we go out and bring
in Kim Chexel February the first, twenty twenty three, force out, resign.

(39:31):
Come on you, you're gonna find out. Yesterday Board of
Trustees at Louis was time for y'all to go, every
last one. It's time for the governor to step forward
and put in a committee. Now that we've already but
if you noticed, there's no search committee. We got us
a president, period, point Blanket's done.

Speaker 2 (39:53):
She is now the twentieth president. No interim tag.

Speaker 1 (39:58):
So guys, humh Even if there was a new board appointed,
are they gonna have to come in and then relieve her?

Speaker 2 (40:05):
I would hope not.

Speaker 1 (40:06):
But again, this board of ours, if they don't see
their non success. Some's wrong period point blundy. Somebody's upset
with what I'm saying. Then you just have you're not
following it. You're blind, you know you want to. There's
plenty of propaganda.

Speaker 2 (40:22):
Turn it on.

Speaker 1 (40:23):
They'll say all great things again, but it's just not true.

Speaker 2 (40:27):
So I'm gonna post it. I got one minute.

Speaker 1 (40:30):
I'm gonna read this to you again. The function of
education is to teach one to think intensely and to
think critically. Intelligence plus character. That is the goal of
true education. That's that where we are today, guys, and
y'all know that. You know, we're so worried about what
we're teaching at schools. We've never taught the truth. You

(40:51):
all told a lot of yourself. I'll take a debate
with anybody. We've never taught the truth.

Speaker 2 (40:57):
It's comical. It's just comical.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
It's where we are today, though, And the bullying. I
didn't even get into the sid that said, hey, I'll
ruin your life. That wasn't new, was it? Haven't we
heard that before? Anytime a reporter does their job, which
is to hold power accountable, next thing, you know, they're stupid,
they're ignorant, they're dumb, and we're going to ruin them.

(41:20):
I don't think that surprises people. EVE Sports Radio have
a wonderful day. Bye bye
