Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome back. You have to love to laugh, and we
better laugh today. We may not be laughing tomorrow. But
it is April the second, Unbelievable twenty twenty four. It's Wednesday.
If you did not know what home day is supposed
to be a very nice, warm, humid day today before
the crazy storms that are supposed to come in. I
do want to mention before we get to call letters

(00:24):
and things, yesterday and there were tornadoes over the weekend
on Sunday night, Fairdale area, Mead County, Breckinridge County, Spencer
County had rough nights. I think we all know that
tonight and tomorrow is going to be turbulent. I am
not sure if I'll even be able to get out
of here tomorrow to go to San Antonio. WILL have
to wait and see. But I do want people that

(00:46):
have lost valuables, homes, cars, that people are thinking about them.
So let's just be safe with what's going to happen
tonight and tomorrow. This is Eve Sports Radio phone numbers
five zero two, five seventy nine hundred. That is Sports
Talk seven ninety k r D. Of course we've got

(01:07):
Shannon behind the glass. Appreciate you Shannon. We got my
younger son, Anthony. What's up, bro?

Speaker 2 (01:13):
The same old Samo.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
We're doing good over here, trying to trying to stay
out of this, this this undermining measy weather. It will
be eighty today, which is nice, but it's it's gonna be.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Such an overcasty eighty.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
I don't it's not even gonna feel like eighty. It
say that, and the best way possible is just it
just looks gloomy outside, like it when it's seventy five
and sunny.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
It just makes you.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Feel more enlightened on the inside.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
I agree. Oh, it's gonna be humid, which is gonna
bring the crazy weather tonight, Anthony, with all the storms,
warm weather, code weather. When they meet like that, you
have ugly weather. And that's what we're gonna have tonight
and tomorrow. So make sure again do not drive through
high water, pooling water. Please don't do it. It's not worth it.
It's just not worth it. Be safe, turn around and

(02:00):
go back live to fight another day, period point blank.
It's going to be very dangerous the next thirty six
hours here, So I want everybody to be cognizant with
what they're doing. Don't worry about getting somewhere. Just make
sure you get there safely. Now, and Shannon, we've got
a lot to get to today. Of course, we've got

(02:21):
McDonald's games, which we're going to get into. Anthony, and
I got to watch University of Louisville and University Kentucky's
player I saw. It surprised me that Malachimarino stroked that
three porter in the right corner. Anthony, I said, big
boys got range. I mean, no hesitation. And Brown played
really well. Mckel Brown for Louisville played really well, handled

(02:42):
the ball, that distributed the ball, so it was fun
to watch. I thought they played defense. It was a
real game. They compete it, so that was a lot
of fun. We've got a lot of coaching news to
get to. We've got to talk about We've got NFL rules, Anthony,
we finally got to talk about this NFL and the
that's right around the court. And of course we know

(03:02):
it's final four weekend for men's and women's NC DOUBLEA.
The best month of the year. I have to admit, though,
college football playoffs is exciting. NC Double A. No matter
how bad they run this thing, and they do right
it poorly and I want people to know again because
we say the NC DOUBLEA and people love to point fingers.

(03:23):
Just whoever your team is, University of Louisville, Kentucky, Indiana,
WKU Butler, just make sure it's your president's in ads.
That's who votes on all the legislation that has not
done what they should have done for all these years.
Just remember that aspect. So but we'll have the most watch.

(03:43):
I guarantee you this weekend will be a great final
four four number one seeds in men's basketball and three
number one seeds in a number two seed with Connecticut
and women. So a lot of people think Connecticut can
get it done. Anthony, I'm not sure, but we're going
to wait. See a lot of great basketball going on.
So basketball, football, the whole nine yards. But I'm gonna

(04:05):
throw it to you, Anthony first, so that you can
cover a little bit of the miss McDonald's game. And
let me don't let me be remissed. Guys. In yesterday's paper,
there's an article at the bottom of the sports section.
I don't know why the article popped up, but it's
how University of Louisville and Kentucky stack up against national

(04:28):
powers in baseball Okay, and Peyton Tusss wrote the article
and it's really really enlightening. I hate to tell Peyton
that I'm glad you did this, young man, our young lady,
excuse me that you did this, but I just want
to let you know that you're about seven years late. Honestly,

(04:48):
I've been talking about this with Coach Beard. We've been
speaking about this for seven years and that's a fact,
and we're going to get into that. Also. I think
you just need to see I've been telling people that
not Josh Hurd, everybody, but the old regime paid the
baseball coach more than the program was worth. And you
all are going to see I was right seven years ago.

(05:11):
So we'll get into that today also, So any let's
just throw it to you first. We got seventy eleven.
I want to know what's going on with some of
the national news McDonald's games and what's gonna transpire. Who
plays who in this NCAA tournament. If people did not know, no.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
Of course obviously for those coming up.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
If you don't know the games that are playing in
the tournament coming up to Saturday on April fifth, we
do got the Houston Cutors taking on the Duke Blue
Doubles aka Mo Squad. They'll be kicking off Saturday at
eight forty nine pm on CBS. The game before that
will be the SEC matchup of the week, will have
Florida taking on Auburn. It's almost like a rerun all
over again. They'll be playing Saturday at six oh nine

(05:51):
pm on CBS, right before the Duke and Houston game.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
There's a first it right there. Seven right there. I
said that I was going to be critical of the
SEC if they did not get it done, and without
a doubt, guys, they did. They did. They represented themselves
the way they represented themselves Throughout the year. They were
by far the best basketball conference, not close. No one

(06:16):
can compete it with the SEC. And I just wanted
to make sure that now that we're at the final four,
you've got two teams there. We had numerous Tennessee in
the Elite eight Kentucky and the Elite sixteen. We had
like seven out of the top sixteen. The SEC did
represent itself when it mattered. Guys, it counts now. I

(06:37):
love regular season, I love all the great wins, but
it matters. You want your plane to win it. Bottom line,
I went to two final fours one to one. Coach
Crumb said, you cut your teeth this time of the year.
The regular season is only to prepare you for now,
so I just wanted to make sure we got that
cleared up. There's no doubt the SEC and men's basketball, undisputed,

(07:01):
was the best conference maybe ever this year. Hopefully it'll
change go ahead, and.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
Of course obviously the SEC did show off for once
this year finally, you know, and I say for once
the other greats. They were eliminated a little bit too early,
I think for everyone's liking. They're losing in the round
of sixty four around a thirty two sweet sixteen.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
For it to be the best conference in basketball.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
We're not saying that every team's got to go to
the final four or even have two in the final
four like they do this year. But it's a better showing.
Even the games that they did lose were a little
bit more competitive than they have been in the last
couple of years, in which we've all just wanted to see.
We just want to see competitive nature. We're not saying
they have to go out there and win the national
championship every year. It's difficult to do as a team, even.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
For a conference.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
But they put on a great show, and where they got,
they'll still have one of the two SEC teams in
the national Championship.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
So that alone, right, there is an accolade that's difficult
to reach.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
So SEC give me your props. I won't say anything
about it this year.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Right, No, No, this year. No. No. A person made
a great comment to me early in the season. I
told your friend of mine in Indiana, he's a dentist,
great guy, I thinks homework hows and go see him
if you need. He is a very good dentist, he said,
But the SEC had not performed, and it had not.
I told him that. I said that was true, that
we were going to evaluate it this year, and I

(08:25):
would be honest and fair period. So I want to
say there were seven SEC teams out of the last sixteen. Anthony,
come on, man, you can't do it anymore. In that you
have to beat each other to get there. They try
to separate you the most that they can. But of course,
could Tennessee Beach, Kentucky to get to the elite eight.
I mean, you can only separate yourself so far when
you have those mini quality teams. But this year the

(08:47):
SEC did their job so well. Have to wait. It
could with this name, imagine likeness and the movement of players.
It could change the shifting sands, could change overnight. But
this year, without a doubt, the SEC rule the roost.
So go ahead, big fellow.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
No, of course, and I don't disagree with you. Obviously,
we didn't have a couple of other things going on
this weekend as well.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
Something that I do want to bring up.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
I know, it kind of blows my mind that Hunter
Dickinson is granted another seven.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
That is that's crazy to me. Seven years in college.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
Oh god, I understand. I don't understand. NBA might not
be for you, but.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
You gotta get get somebody. I'm like, get someone else's
chance in college, all right, this is God.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
If I was, I'll be pissed off.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
I'm like, I don't want to.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
Play that thirty year old man anymore at this point,
like your seventy year Like, if Hunter Dickinson doesn't graduate
with a doctor's degree, I'm gonna be pissed up.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
You better have a doctor's degree, anthy I have. If
he's a doctor's degree, I'm happy with it. But if
he doesn't. I'm through with Anthony. Why did you have
to come to that point? Oh? When I saw it yesterday,
I said, this is as seven years now, there was
a football player Anthony that we know was granted also

(10:05):
played seven years. I just don't. I tried to research
dickersonce I did, Anthony. I don't get the seventh year.
I don't get it. I get the COVID year.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
God, I don't need it.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
That's over. I get a year that's six years. Where
did the seventh come from? An anybody knows.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
I'm a football guy. A lot of them are saying
they're coming from the extra year to getting from like
JUCO and prep schools. A lot of people are getting
another year eligibility. So he's not the only one that's
in that boat now for seventh year a little bit different,
but Zeke Mayo's in consideration for another year as well,
to Dewan Harris isn't considering for another year. And kJ

(10:43):
Adams all from and that's just from Kansas alone. They're
not the only school. There'll be other schools that I
do it as well.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
I agree, I'm not I wouldn't be. I'm just killing
the system just to president's ads. How did what seven
year Anthony? He's a grown man. I mean, this is starting,
This is I don't understand. Okay, I want everybody to
listen to me. Listeners so you all can understand better.

(11:12):
You're supposed to get four years of college athletics, four years.
If you're injured in a year that you've played less
than eighteen point four or five percent of the season,
the NCAA will not they will warrant you another year.
It's a red shirt season if you play less than

(11:34):
eighteen percent of the college team's games. Okay, guys, if
you played one hundred games, you can play eighteen. If
you played fifty games, you can play nine. If you
played twenty five, you can play four and a half.
You got me, guys, eighteen percent somewhere in that realm,
excuse me? Is that what you could do? So that's

(11:55):
a basketball season. You should be able to play about
five games. You injure your they'll give you a red
shirt year. You'll get that year over. That's okay, red
shirt season. That's five seasons. They gave everybody a COVID season.
If you played, Anthony, that's six seasons. I don't understand.

(12:16):
Seven years. I don't get it, and I researched it.
I couldn't find it out. Anthony, I don't know why
they granted the seventh year. If someone knows, please call
into the show. Do you know, Anthony, I don't. I'm
being honest. I tried to research yesterday.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
The only that's the only thing I can possibly think.
They're grand people next year for the ones that went
to Juco in prep school, and they weren't counting that
as an actual season in college basketball, which I do.
Other than that, I'm right than that.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
He did not go to Juco.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
No, No, he didn't.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
So I don't know where it's coming from. But that's
the boat that we're.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
In right now. I don't I wouldn't say that's the
reasonhy I'm bringing it up because I'm like, seven years
is career.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
It'd be different if he got hurt or something, or
he had a medical condition going on he missed the season.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
But he hasn't missed.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
He's played every season all at least thirty games a season.
He hasn't missed a step, which I'll give him credit
for playing and.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Being healthy, but years, that's way too much talking.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
About a hunter. Yeah, do you know, Shannon, Yeah, I.

Speaker 4 (13:21):
Know that was an April Fool's Day joke.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
Oh truly, thank you. Yeah, I don't think that's real. Okay,
oh my god, thank you. I appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
The crazy though, that's.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
The most realistic April Fools I've ever seen in my life.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
Yes, because, yeah, I would be surprised. Thank you, Shannon,
because I tell you the rules, there's no way. Okay, okay,
someone else just thanks John. Someone else said had to
be April Fools. It had to be because there's no
way through the rules that he could play. There's no way.
But I'm like, you know what, but hey, Shannon, there's
a football player that got seven years. That's fact, got

(14:01):
seven years, but not Hunter. Great, thank you, Shannon. Appreciate that.
So Anthony, we're seven twenty. Thank you. Lord. I'm glad
hundred Shannon. Thank you, because I was like, this is madness.
I researched it yesterday, last year yesterday. I'm like, there's
just no way, there's no way through the rules that
you can't get a seventh year. So I'm glad. But

(14:23):
you know what, it's so bad because a football player
did get seven years to where it made me believe it.
Being honest with you, great April foolish joke. They got me,
which is not a problem. Man, got you to it,
and that's all good. So what we're gonna do. We
got people on hold, We're gonna go to break and
when we come back, we'll finish up with some national
news and get into the meat potatoes of today's show.

(14:46):
Thank you for clarification, Shannon. Hey, Shannon, what took you
so long?

Speaker 4 (14:50):
Man?

Speaker 1 (14:53):
Say? How long you go with it? I told I
didn't know. I was honestly, Shannon, I researched it yesterday.
I'm like, I know the rules, How did they do it?
How did you do it? I had no idea, but
appreciate it. You just took too long, Shennon. I'm gonna
get you in the ring, Shennon, I'm gonna get you.
No thanks, Shedding East Worts Radio will talk to you

(15:13):
all in a minute. Welcome back to E Sports Radio
seven twenty five. Yes, okay, great, Yes, I'm coming to
my first caller blending in one second, Shannon just clarified
something for it. So, Shennon, I appreciate that you did, channing,
even though you left just hanging Anthony. I was hanging
with you, brothers, so we're gonna take this one together.
But I do want people to know Oklahoma State received

(15:37):
a big boost in twenty twenty four. We spoke about
this last year when they granted Alan Bowman his seventh season.
And he's not the only one. I'm gonna find another one.
There have been numerous players that have been granted their
seventh season in the NCAA. That's why that was a
good April Fools joke. They got us Anthony, but that
wasn't like abnormal. There have been three of them, so

(15:59):
ann we had three people that have Louisville and Kentucky
ties playing that McDonald's All American Game. Who were they
before we get to our first call.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
Yeah, of course obviously we had Obviously we have men's
and women's. So on the men's we did have Malincot
Marino obviously out from Great Crossing one state championship this
past week. He was in the All American Game as well.
Played better than we thought, you know, keep a couple
of jump shots mm hm, showed some skill. Then we
have Rockwell Brown as well, and then we also have
Zakayah Johnson who was at a Sacred Heart. She's going

(16:31):
to LSU for some reason. The whole time I thought
she was going to U of L. But she's going
to LSU from Sacred Heart.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
But Sacred Heart's got some players.

Speaker 3 (16:39):
If you're from Wouisville alone and you're going to play
at LSU, you know how to play.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
That's all I'm gonna say.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
You know how to play, no question. Molki is no
play thing, and you know how to play. So congratulations
to all three participants in last night's game. Let's get
to our first college. Shannon playing and welcome to the show.
How are you sorry for making your home? Oh?

Speaker 4 (16:59):
Good more? Good morning, guys. I hope everybody's doing it. Jerry,
I was listening just down. I heard that the world
champion had to enlighten you. Well, yes he did, getting
a ring with him. If you get in a ring
with him, he'll and light your head too. So I'm
glad you're not.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
You know what, see, Shannon, this is what I had
to take sea, Shannon. And all I know is that
I got friends, and friends got friends, and we'll have
to slip up on Shannon. You know, I went at
any cost. I heard Shannon in the ring gets a
little dirty, but I'm dirty outside the ring. So see Shannon,
beware all the time. That's all I'm gonna say. I

(17:38):
have to be where if I get in the ring
with you.

Speaker 4 (17:41):
I've warned you, Jerry for years about him, and I'm
telling you he's player in the game and don't go there.
But we'll get hurt.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
I'm not. I'm not. I got a few friends and
bulletiese that may have to take care of him for
me if he gets a hold of me. So do
you think that he wouldn't be on my side? I
guess some really good friends at Billety, That's what I think.
You better watch yourself. I got friends at Bullet East.

Speaker 4 (18:07):
Hey, San Shannon, he needs a lot of mental help.
He's six, So don't let you know.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
Tim Perkins Jimmy Beverly, the principal and athletic director at
Bullet East. Do you know I got some connections. I
just gave you two Tim Perkins and Jimmy Beverley. Yeah,
good old boys.

Speaker 4 (18:28):
I'm sure that. I'm sure the emergency room I have
room for them too. So whatever you do, Jerry, that's fine.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
Okay, forget you. Let's move on.

Speaker 3 (18:37):
Let's move on.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
I'm gonna keep my body parts. I'm standing away from Shannon.
Go ahead.

Speaker 4 (18:42):
There was a great article on the CJ. They sell
some money issues about baseball around the country, you know,
still being non revenue and all that stuff. And I've
come on the show many times in you and I've
discussed uh u of l baseball team over there. You
know the success McDonald said, and he's done a good
job through years and everything, but you know, the economics

(19:02):
of it all is, it's a horrible business decision right
now with the baseball program over there, and you know
there is he is. He is in the top level
pay in the country with baseball coaches. You know, for
a non revenue coach. He's making almost two million dollars
a year. And I've told you repeatedly that program, Jerry,

(19:26):
if they'd open all their books over there, you'll see
they're losing three to five million dollars a year on
baseball easily. Probably. You know, I may be being conservative.
I'm not sure.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
Blende. We said this seven years ago when everybody said
again that I was a hater when we were going
through this and his contract was publicized, and then after that,
I went researched it. It gets a ten percent kick
every year. That's why it increases. Which I'm going to
tell people about this so they'll understand what was transpiring

(19:57):
at the University of Louisville from the time drenches. Why
this is not Josh hurts. But Josh's gonna have to
deal with it. He's going to have to. Period. Two
things have to happen. And I'm gonna get into this.
Either Damn McDonald's have to renegotiate or Louis's gonna have
to fire him. But it cannot continue at this rate,
and I'm gonna explain it to people. I'm gonna prove
it to them so they'll understand some of the things

(20:19):
that were left for Josh Hurd to clean up. People
don't just don't want to hear the truth about what
is transparted at Louisville for the last ten to fifteen
years out of Control's not even the word to where Blanding.
Don't get mad at me. Yes, I went to Louisville, Dangan,
I'm a Louisville louveness, But you don't hire president and
two years later say, here's two point two million dollars

(20:41):
sign this piece of paper and don't say a word.
Four hundred thousand on the spot and three hundred thousand
for the next six months. Come on, God, she made
nine hundred thousand. Something has to do. They've got to
get Louisville straight. Period.

Speaker 4 (20:55):
People can hate me if you again.

Speaker 1 (20:56):
In fact, I've been saying that so long. It's crazy.

Speaker 4 (21:00):
I've been called I've been called a hater to Jerry,
and I'm not, honestly, But at the end of the day,
it's it's an economic catastrophe on the books because they
are losing money over there like crazy on baseball. You
know where my son's had, you know, in Mississippi state
of where he played, Matt You know, you open their books, Jerry.
You look at the Southern teams and they all make money.

(21:21):
It's because of the tenants in that. I mean, I
can I can go over there U of L. And
there's some games through the week over there, there's more
people on the field than in the bleachers. And you know,
I'm not being a smart up like or nothing, but
it's a fact. And they and a lot of times
they have free admission and I want to give them.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
I'm going to get explained it to them, though I
really am today it's in the paper. We spoke about
this seven years ago. I'm just glad that the paper. Finally,
I don't know why the paper decided to do this.
I had nothing to do with Jerry Eves, but we
spoke about this yourself, Coach Beard and I seven years ago.
Well I'm going to explain it to him so everybody

(21:59):
understands what has transpired. Hey, Shannon, all I'm gonna tell
you is I got people sitting in me text saying
I got friends, Shannon, you better get your friends. Adam
just said Jerry you got friends. So Shannon, watch out,
and I'm brother, we might have to have this rumble
into jungle in Bullet East at the hospital in closing.

Speaker 4 (22:19):
I won't say no more about this, but you know,
I just want to tell you something right now. I've
tried to talk vinthing in your head, but but your
friends in low places is not going to be a
world champion. So I just hope you understand what you're
getting into here, because he would tie you in a
nod in one second. I hope you have.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
All I'm telling Shannon is YouTube blending great car and
I'm gonna get into your call. All I'm telling Shannon
is I got people that sent to me. You got friends, Shannon.
That's all I'm telling you. I'm not I'm not standing
by myself, Shannon. I got troops. I got troops. So
Anthony here at seven thirty three, so we gonna get

(22:53):
to our second break. We're gonna say on time so
we can come back and I can break down what's
in the newspaper, which guys has to be corrected. I
don't care Louisville fans. Dollars and cents must make sense.
My dad always said cn T since and se n
SE since they have to make sense, they have to. Well,

(23:16):
I'm glad the article is printed seven years since we
started talking about this, but I'm gonna explain to you
today why they're gonna have to make corrections with the
men's baseball program at the University of Louisville. Quickly. Eve
Sports Radio will talk to you after the break. Welcome
back to EVE Sports Radio. I got Anthony and myself
one of his five zero two, five seven, one seventy
nine hundred. Anthony, here's the deal, Anthony. Since Blandon always

(23:44):
has to bring up how strong Shannon is, and how
good a wrestler is. My phone again has going crazy,
So I just want Shannon to know. I've had now
three people reach out to me. One said that they
have Shannon's back, said, I got Shannon's back, like your show,
but I got Shannon's back. Another person sent this to me,
where I said, I'm gonna read this to you. You

(24:06):
know you have friends that grew up in the projects,
was a college football player, was a professional MMA fighter,
and it's still a police officer. Say I got your back.
So see Shannon's one and one. Then the second person
sent me one and says, you got friends we can
handle Shannon. It's two to one Shannon, right now, watch yourself,
Shannon's all I'm telling you. But you did get one sponsor, Shannon,

(24:28):
you got one sponsor, one sponsor. I mean, come on,
I grew up, we grew up in Mount Washington. Bullet
Eese went to bullet Eese. You're telling me all those
people wouldn't have my back, Shannon. They just haven't called
the show yet. So right now I'm up to one
with the vote. If I got a rigged I wheel.

Speaker 4 (24:47):
They got your back.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
Who's got your front? Who's the only problem. That's a problem, Shann. Problem,
that's a problem, all right, now, Anthony Shannon, here's the deal.
We spoke about contracts at University of louis the obsceen
amount of money that has been spent at University of
Louisville for nineteen years. Coach Bart and I, when Coach

(25:10):
Bertt was on with me, we read these contracts to people,
We researched them. At the time, University of louis was president,
Ramsey was the highest paid president in the country. The
elect director is one of the highest paid athletic directors
in the country. Same thing, so forth, all along the line.
If you all remember, not my Kathleen Smith, but Kathleen Smith,
who worked for the president, made more than some presidents.

(25:33):
She was the administrative assistant. So Coach Bert and I
spoke out about things that were wrong. They were wrong
and they still are. Well. The baseball coach kind of
fell under the irony this article did more comparing Coach
Bert and I never compared Louisville against Kentucky. That was
never our purpose. We never compared the two. We were

(25:53):
just talking about salaries at University of Louisville that were
Astronomiquin at the time, they weren't paying And I'm telling
people now, Anthony, are they gonna to correct this because
they got to pay players and they just don't have
money to throw away the coaches.

Speaker 4 (26:06):
They just don't.

Speaker 1 (26:07):
And I'm glad, guys, I'm sorry. I'm glad. I was
a coach, made a great living coaching. Have no problem
with coaches, but dang that coaches getting players paid and
players not is madness. So the article was done for
Louisville and Kentucky. Baseball twenty twenty four was a till
of two seasons. I'm reading from the article. I'm not
gonna read all of it, but i want you all

(26:27):
to have a jest of what I'm talking about. University
of Louisville is the NCAA Tournament for the third time
of the last four years. I'm talking about baseball, while
Kentucky advanced to the first College Football World Series. The
Wildcats look to ride momentum from a historic run in
twenty twenty five. Even with twenty nine new faces in
the locker room, Cardinals hoped to put an end to
the postseason streak that returned and returned to the kind

(26:50):
of success head coaching Dad McDonald's teams are used to
before the COVID nineteen shortened season. Okay, so we understand
before COVID couse Dan McDonald was successful. They never won
the College World Series, but they did go okay, they
had a very good program. But three of the last
four years they haven't even gotten in to the College

(27:12):
World Series. They aren't even able to participate. So put
in simply, they weren't one of sixty eight, even though
there was not sixty eight teams. But you all understand,
I want to make sure everybody understands what I'm saying now.
The article goes on to break down actual budgets. So
for twenty nineteen Louisville and Kentucky baseball spending on baseball.

(27:37):
Twenty nineteen, Louisville spent four point five seven to two million.
That was three point zero two total athletics spending. Again,
they spent three percent of their total budget on baseball.
Doesn't seem like much, I agree. Twenty twenty twenty, they
spent four point one less, twenty twenty one, they spent

(27:57):
three point five less. Twenty twenty two two they spent
five point two more twenty twenty three they spent four
point nine million, and twenty twenty four they spent five
point five nine million, five million, five hundred ninety one
thousand dollars. All of those fill in the round between
three point two percent, between three percent and three point

(28:19):
seven two percent of total budget. Okay, compared to Kentucky.
Kentucky did not spend as much on baseball. They spent
three point one million in nineteen two point six million
and twenty two point six million, and twenty one three
point one million, and twenty two three point five million
and twenty three four point eight million and twenty four,

(28:40):
which was two point four nine percent of their total
athletic budget. Okay, Kentucky spent less. My argument was never
about Louisville and Kentucky never was. But I just want
to give you all the jest of the article. Then
it starts to break down the important things, the part
that coach Beeart and I was speaking about. It starts
to talk about, well, how does that compare Because coach

(29:04):
McDonald said in twenty twenty two that the school was
not supporting him properly for him to win. He had
a bad season and they weren't building enough facilities or
renovating indoor practice facilities. Things cost money. Guy's done free,
Nothing's free. So he was asking for more of the
overall budget. Okay, so they went and researched. Tennessee spent

(29:29):
thirteen million, okay, five point seventy nine total athletic revenue
in twenty twenty four. Okay, Tennessee wanted if you all,
as you are well known, in twenty twenty four, Louisville
was at five point five million, Kentucky was at four
point eight million. Okay, neither were half of Tennessee's. Makes sense,

(29:51):
and as it transpires, it continues to go down. In
twenty twenty three, Texas A and M was at eight
point two million, while Louisville was at four point nine.
He was at three point five. Okay, So they weren't
spending the amount of money that the teams that were
very very good in the College World Series were spending.
But here's the kicker. I want you all to listen.

(30:14):
They were spending half of what the big boys were
overall budget, half of what the big boys overall budgets
were to win College World Series games. So, just being
honest with you, if you're looking at money spent. Coach
McDonald has a point when he tells you we were
only spending four point nine million when the winning team

(30:34):
or close to winning team was spending eight point two
or we were spending five point five million when Tennessee
was spending thirteen million dollars and cents. To do matter
in sports, it's an arms race. But here's where it
gets squirrely. Okay, when you go to their salaries. Dan

(30:56):
McDonald makes one point seven eight million, one million, seven
hundred and eighty seven thousand, five hundred and sixty seven
dollars last year. You got me out of the budget
which was five point five. That means his salary was

(31:16):
thirty one point nine seven percent of the total budget.
Got me. Let's go to University of Kentucky's. They compared
Nick Mangion. His was nine hundred and eighty three thousand,
three hundred and fifteen twenty percent of Kentucky's total budget.
McDonald's was thirty one point nine seven. Nicks was twenty

(31:39):
point oh seven. Okay, of the total budget. But the
team Tennessee, Tennessee's coach who won it in twenty twenty
five for twenty twenty four excuse me. Tony Vittello. His
contract was one million, nine hundred and sixteen thousand, five
hundred and ninety two dollars. He was fourteen point two

(32:01):
eight percent of the total budget. Dann McDonald's was thirty
one point nine seven. It doubled it. So what I'm
telling you is too much of the money is going
into the hit coaches salary and not into the program
percentage of money spent. Tennessee's coach made more. He made

(32:22):
one million, nine hundred and sixteen, but that was only
fourteen point two eight percent of the total revenue total
budget at Tennessee. Well, da McDonald's one point seven eight
seven million was thirty one percent.

Speaker 4 (32:37):
You got me.

Speaker 1 (32:38):
So both Loeuisveland and Kentucky's coaches salaries when you say
percentage of total budgets were high, Let's go to the five.
Next year, twenty twenty three, Daan McDonald made one point
five six million, one million, five hundred and sixty nine thousand.
Got me. He has a ten percent kicker in his
salary each year. I want people to understand. That's why

(33:00):
from one five to one seven eight, and before it
was one five. The year before he was at one
five seventy because he has a kicker in his contract
that bumps it up. This is not Josh Hurd's problem,
it is. He's got to deal with it. But it
has to stop. It has to either Coach McDonald has
to renegotiate or they got to fire him because you

(33:20):
just can't pay a person. The next kicker will put
him at thirty five percent of the total budget. You
just can't do that, guys. It makes no sense, period
point blank. Now that you have to pay the players,
you just can't financially do what they've been doing. So
at the same time, you've got Nick men Jeon. He
made seven hundred and fifty thousand, twenty three percent of

(33:42):
Kentucky which does not spend day lot Kentucky In twenty
what year was this, twenty twenty two, the University of
Kentucky spent three million, one hundred and seventy two thousand
for the total program. You got to understand, if it
continues at this pace, McDonald will be making more than
Kentucky pace. What whole program? Give it four or five years, guys.

(34:06):
So the mad is that we've told you all about
years ago. You know, we've spoke about this everybody's Jerry
Eves coach Beer, y all are haters. We were just
talking to them about the dollars and cents of college athletics,
and we told them that pay for players was coming
and these things had to stop. Well, if you go

(34:26):
get yesterday's care Journal or google it, you'll see it
in here. You'll be able to read it. Some of
the private schools salaries are not in because they do
not have to disclose, Anthony. They don't have to tell us,
got me, what they pay their coaches, what they put
into their budgets. They're private, but public schools have to
just like we do it, Simmons. Even though we're private,

(34:49):
we still have to turn it in because you have
to turn in certain things for Title nine to make
sure that you're following the rules in the guidelines of
Title nine. So I just want to let people know.
You cannot make thirty percent of the total revenue not revenue,
excuse me, output of your program into one person. And
if you add the assistant coaches salaries into that total,

(35:13):
which is included guys, the coaches are making almost half
the total budget. Again, no matter what you want to say,
it doesn't happen. In any business anywhere, but everybody glorifies
Tom Jurge. This is not Josh Hurd. He did not
write this contract. Like coach of Beard said, I don't
know who was on the board. Then I know a

(35:34):
few of them. They must have been smoking something when
they signed these kind of deals, because they signed quite
a few of them. And we're still Josh Hurt is
still living with this one, which has to get resolved.
It has to new president at Louisville. I don't know you,
Josh Hurt has got to get resolved. You can't continue
to do this. Eve Sports Radio at seven forty nine, Anthony,

(35:58):
we'll be back after the break, talk a little bit
about this final four. I hope I can get out
of here tomorrow. Talk to you in a minute. Welcome
back to the Sports Radio seven fifty two, Anthony. All
I know is that people used to say Jerry's just
mad he didn't get a job at Louisville. They right,
because Tom George paid, they can fire me. I just

(36:19):
needed to get a job at of Tom Jurch right
right there at Dude, I'm telling you, boy, without a doubt,
it's some schools. Baseball is non revenue sport. Anthony, it's
noine revenue. I didn't create that term. It's non revenue
because it doesn't make money. Got me, Anthony, period, I

(36:41):
didn't create the term. That's fact. But some do in
the SEC. Some do make money, Anthony, Some of those
coaches they do make the programs do make money. But
at Louisville it's a nine revenue sport and you got
a coach that's making uh of a thirty percent of
the total budget. I don't know sid that contract, boy,
without a doubt. They need to find out who did

(37:03):
it and charge them. So anyway, who do you think
is gonna do something other than Duke? And this year's
in CUAA and tell me about the women's side of
my bracket. Who's gonna get some money from the sports radio?

Speaker 3 (37:16):
Obviously, I think everyone's other sole favorite outside if even
I would say Duke, and a lot of people don't
like Duke, I would definitely say Florida. Now they do
have a tougher matchup or Rea. Is why I say
a tougher matchup business. I think Auburn scores the ball better.

Speaker 2 (37:28):
Obviously. I know you pick Houston and you're fond.

Speaker 5 (37:31):
On him, which I don't disagree.

Speaker 2 (37:33):
I do like Houston's defense, just the offensive side is
the big part.

Speaker 5 (37:36):
Because Duke in the tournament has played both sides of
the ball phenomenal. Houston can't go up there the Nigga
both and.

Speaker 3 (37:43):
Put sixty five points up.

Speaker 5 (37:44):
I just don't feel too confident in them beating Duke. Obviously,
I'm a Duke fans. I don't feel confident in them
beating us at all. But I'm just saying for the
ones they even pick Houston, I think.

Speaker 3 (37:54):
We have a harder matchup against a Florida.

Speaker 5 (37:56):
And Auburn in the final four rather than Houston. I
think Houston's the weaker of the Let me be completely
honest with you.

Speaker 1 (38:01):
I agree they do not score the ball. I agree
with you, and they're gonna defend you. But they do
have issues scoring the ball, and the other three teams
do not. Period. The other three teams can score the basketball,
no question. So that's a fact. Tell me what's going
on on the women's side of my bracketed he do
you know what's going on? I know I'm in number
two on the men's side, I know who rules the roofs.

(38:21):
But on the women's side of me goes, see what's
going on.

Speaker 5 (38:25):
Yeah, women's side, I'm on the first page still, but
I'm in twenty first. I mean I'm not doing the greatest.

Speaker 1 (38:30):
On the women's side.

Speaker 2 (38:32):
I didn't pick the Lady Longhorns over.

Speaker 3 (38:33):
There, which is one of the few.

Speaker 2 (38:35):
Everyone else is pretty much South Carolina.

Speaker 5 (38:37):
I see one or two Yukons in here, and I
think I.

Speaker 2 (38:39):
See two U. C.

Speaker 3 (38:40):
L A's.

Speaker 5 (38:41):
So if South Carolina gets knocked out, that goes like
the entire first page right there.

Speaker 2 (38:45):
Pretty much.

Speaker 5 (38:46):
You're so right right, I'm in Texas womens. I got
a chance to get in.

Speaker 1 (38:53):
The top three, gotcha? No, I agree, I've got it
in South Carolina, and I'm sitting in ninth with about
the other people. But no, that's not true. But I'm
a ninth place on the women's side. Everybody's trying to
always knock my skills so we don't have to wait
and see. But yes, guys, will be money sent out
next week from EVE Sports Radio. I appreciate everybody participating, Anthony,

(39:15):
because I mean, we got a lot of It's the
first time I went over one hundred on the men's side.
I think I had ninety seven last year, I wanted
to get over one hundred and the women's is the
most I've ever had so and it continues to grow.
Next year we got to push for two hundred men,
one hundred women. So Andy, we got a minute. What's
going on in town and country? They need to get
out and see you for the Terror's hit, for the

(39:36):
terrors hit for Anthony.

Speaker 4 (39:39):
We do you do?

Speaker 5 (39:40):
You gotta come out there and see me. We got everything.

Speaker 1 (39:42):
You know.

Speaker 3 (39:42):
It's I'm telling y'all derbies around the corner.

Speaker 5 (39:45):
Everybody wants to step out.

Speaker 3 (39:46):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (39:47):
It's the definition of keeping up with the Jones is
only wants to pop out in the old ride. Just
something nice to news.

Speaker 3 (39:52):
Give me a town of country forward six year, one
five percent highway.

Speaker 1 (39:55):
There you go, Shannon, great job. Watch your back, Shannon,
I'll watch by front. You just watch your back. It's
Esports Radio. We will be back tomorrow. Be safe tonight.
Make sure you prepare batteries, get your radios ready. Just
make sure that you're prepared for the weather.

Speaker 4 (40:13):
Do not get caught off guard.

Speaker 1 (40:14):
