Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to Eve's Sports radio. Guys. It's the first
that's unbelievable. Twenty twenty five.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
It's Thursday, it's a beautiful day. We're on the front
side of Churchill Downs as quiet as a mouse. There's
no I announced yesterday. People did hear my correction, there's
no dawn at the Downs this morning. It's only few media,
Miss Gwyn, Anthony and myself. So we're gonna let you

(00:32):
all know what it's really like to be at Churchill
Downs by yourself two days before the dirty. So, of course, Shannon,
I know Anthony's trying to get on. Anthony, Are you
with me? My son, youngest son, Shnon Anthony, are.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
You I mean, yeah, I can. I can hear you
talking from far away, but I couldn't hear you in
my headphones, so I thought something was going wrong over here.
So I had to hang up and call back. You go.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
And then I'm sitting and I want everyone to know
I'm sitting dead at the finish line in Churchill Bounds
on the rail so that when the Derby horses and
Oaks horses come out, I mean the first time that
I will be this close to them, actually seeing them gallop.
I've watched them walk by me, but I've never seen
the exercise, So we're looking forward to that between seven

(01:21):
fifteen and seven point thirty. But guys, it's like a
magnificent morning, a little overcast when's blowing.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
But if you were here, I'm telling you it's just bucket,
Miss Anthony.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
What do you think when you just gaze, I can
see the University of Louisville Putball Stadium to my left side.
The American flag is blowing. I mean, just majestically as
it could be.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Henny, what do you think? What do you see?

Speaker 3 (01:49):
You know, it's the smell of Kentucky, is what it is.
It's getting to become the Churchill Down, especially early in
the morning. You see, and I always go through I
say it over and over, getting going through the routines.
But you see the things that go on behind closed doors,
See the trailers coming through, see the tracks coming out,
prepping the track for the derby and oak horses coming

(02:09):
on the water the month, so it's not too hard.
They don't crack any hooves. They do a lot of
preparation coming in for these horses, and even just on
their practice and warm up rounds that they do for
about fifteen to thirty minutes. There is so much preparation
to it. Even the workers. The workers are here at
four thirty five o'clock in the morning. We get here.
We look like we're late. We look like we're relate

(02:30):
when we're getting here because it's already packed. There's venues
setting out, they're set up for drinks, and they're like, well,
the races don't come on to twelve two forty five.
People are here seven eight hours before that. Make sure
everything is spot on.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
The money, spotting on the money. You hit that on
the head. They're prepping the track. I want people to
understand before they bring out the derby and oaks horses,
they clear the track and they've got the water.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
And they've got the chemicals.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
I mean, they've got the graters coming out to make
sure that they level this track out to where so
when they come out, guys, it's perfect. You see a
truck going by me right now, it's spraying something and
then you think that would brainwater. Yes, it looks like
it's brained water. Guys, to get this track perfect for
the fifteen to twenty minutes that the Kentucky Derby horses

(03:16):
and the Kentucky Oats horses are on his track.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Guys.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
I mean, it's just unbelievable the detail that they go
through trying to get this track ready for these magnificent horses.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
They really do.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
We know that there's been fatalities of course, and horses
have been passing away on tracks, but it's not because
the lack of detail or preparation. I'm telling you. That's
why we're here today. We wanted to come and just
see and explain to you all what goes on before
these horses ever step onto the track.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
So right now it's really quiet, it's just some majestic time.
I'm looking.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
I see four trucks across this way. I see they've
got the infield set up. Guys, it's here now. One
hundred and fifty first running of Kentucky Derby is on
and a pod dust and I want everybody to enjoy
it and enjoy it with your families, watch it on television.
Make sure you have your pods, cut up all the
horses and pull them out to where you can just

(04:16):
enjoy the track.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
I've been doing it all my life.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
As the last ten years I have had presidentials and
I've got to meet some of the biggest names in
horse racings. And I told you that some of the
nicest guys in the world. It's just crazy when you
get to meet a horseman. And the reason why is
this ninety nine percent of their existence. You don't know
anything that they're doing. You don't know that they're up

(04:41):
every morning at four fifteen. You don't know that they're
walking through those barns with those horses at four forty five.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
You don't know that.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
We have no idea what goes on with the training
and the feeding and the cleaning of the stalls. All
we know is the greatest two minutes in sports, Anthony.
We do not get the true meaning of horse racing business.
So Kenda mcpeteon del Roman tell me all the time,
gratefully we're superstars. The week of Derby, the week of

(05:09):
the Preemus, the Belmont and the breeders gup, he said.
Other than that, we're just working stiffs. And that's what
they are, guys. I mean, they're truly working stiffs. They
work this business. There are no days off. I'm trying
to think about it now. There are no Christmas, New Year's,
there are no days off every day. These horses have
to be taken care of every day. That's what the

(05:31):
owners are paying for. There are no days off. It's
during a sixty five day business, Anthony, and it's you
have to love it. That's why these horsemen guys, you
wouldn't be in this business if you did. I love it,
no question.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
So it seven fifteen.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
We'll go to break right before then because we want
to make sure we're on when the Derby horses come out.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
But and you just don't know.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
I'm sitting here looking at my Derby pigs and all
I'm gonna tell you is this American promises coming. It
is number five. You all know that that's my horse,
d Wayne Lucas. My dad loves him. That's deceased. But
I'm telling you you love that man until they lost.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
And then he was mad at he and then he
pulled the horse. If you won't know anything about the
horse raising business. When they would lose, my dad, Oh.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
He held that horse. He's gonna run him another day.
He didn't want to extend that horse. I had the
right winner. It's always the trainers guy.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
These guys, he's beat up. You all just don't know.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
These people are after those trainers. Why'd you hold the horse?
God the jockey to hold him all? You didn't run
him right to took you out too early? All the
things then, So now you all hear the John Deere
tractors that are going around right now, Anthony, grading and
leveling the track.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
That's what you hear. So you saw chemicals, then he
saw water.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Now you hear the graters going by. Guy's preparing this
track for the Derby and Oaks horses. I'm gonna let
you take us to break before we come back. Tell
me what give me a little bit happened in the NBA?
And he not the old story, but what happened to
your Lakers?

Speaker 1 (07:08):
Athe?

Speaker 3 (07:09):
What happened my Well, first of all, I'm not a
Lakers fan, so I don't throw that out there. I don't.
I don't care if they lost. So obviously we had
we had two games going last night in the Western Round.
A couple of things. Obviously, the Rockets did take care
of business, beating the Warriors one thirty one to one sixteen.
It was I'm not gonna lie. It was an ugly score.
Even at halftime. I think they were down by almost

(07:30):
almost down by twenty five to thirty at halftime. They
were down forty to twenty four in the first quarter,
and they went down thirty six to twenty five, and
they just never really recovered after that. They tried to
make a surge in the fourth. I was scoring them
by twelve, but at that point it was just kind
of too late. They kind of threw the talent at
that point. But I did. I did too. Warriors are
just a little beat up. I think they're just they're

(07:52):
missing a piece. I think they're really they're missing a
solid bit, man. I just don't think they have and
I think some dunes down there has been tearing them up.
They bring a lot of physicality, they bring a lot
of defense. They do try to guard. I will say
that much Houston does. A lot of teams in the
West do like the guard and it makes it difficult,
you know, in the Warriors. And I hate to say
this much loves Steph Curry. Steph Curry still phenomenal, but
you know, we can you can kind of see those

(08:14):
guys that we've watched growing up over the last couple
years kind of going on their dcloud on the way
down in their careers. Just father time. It's just it
is what it is. And you know, you got eighteen
year olds out there that are full of energy, explosively
ready to go, and you're thirty seven, thirty eight years old.
It's just your step slower. No matter how much of
train and how much you're in shape, you're always gonna
be just a step slower.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
And I'm new Golden State was not gonna bring their
a game.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Now you wait two Game six, Anthony, Game six, Houston's
gonna all of Golden State.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
Yeah, all they're all they're missing are the missing his game?
All the missing is Game six play.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
Yeah, that's all they're gonna find out.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
It'll be their first time for these young Houston players
to be involved in the game six.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Game seven. Don't find out.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Great, And let's get to break because I want us
to be on Anthony when the horses come out.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
We'll finish up with the NBA and Hockey League later
on in the show.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
So, guys, is the sports radio I'm sitting, I mean
directly across from the finish line at the world renowned
Churchill Downs.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
Twin spires are behind us. It's quiet here.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
There's no dawn at the Downs today and soon. They
should be bringing horses out.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
So again I'm seeing the ups playing landing. I hope
the layoffs do not affect any of the people at
our city.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
I hate that it's going to affect people, but I'm
hoping that it doesn't affect very many people in the city.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
Are Lois.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
This is the sports radio phone numbers five zero two,
five seventy nine hundred. We'll talk to you and be
back from Churchill Downs after the break. Welcome back to
Eves Sports Radio. May the first, twenty twenty five Thursday.
Of course, I'm looking at huge screens on the front

(09:54):
side of Churchill Downs and they just had a huge
picture of American promisee his horse and he was standing
riding right next beside his horse. So the Derby and
Oaks horses are coming out. This is e Sports Radio, Anthony.
We should be seeing them coming around the corner really soon,
because they're starting to walk out on the track as
we speak. But again, quiet on the front side. The backside, guys,

(10:21):
it's like ants. There are so many people there. There's
so many people. It's just so congested. They're showing us
glimpses of it right now. It's so congested. It's unbelievable.
People are taking pictures with their Derby horses. A lot
of things are going on, people are scurrying around.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
But I do enjoy it over here.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
I did it last year or two years ago, and
I said, I'm always going to come back because you
get to hear it and smell the.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
Track, that's all.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
And they're starting to release the Kentucky Derby and Oaks
horses as we speak. So Anthony, it's getting close. It's
almost that time that we'll be able to get us
some great shots of these horses. Now, I want to
tell you you never know who knows who, but my
ex teammate, a Ballid High School named David Stanley, Martin Dunbar,

(11:09):
David Staley and I my senior year, my junior we
won the state my senior year. Manuforcet and mail More
High School beat us in the region. I'm going to
the state. I still mad at Manu Force for that.
I tell him every time.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
I seen him.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
But Anthony, David Martin and I used to get in trouble, guys.
I just want y'all to know that we used to
get He used to be mad at us all the
time because we were troublemakers, good trouble makers, but we
were always hanging out.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
Well.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
David always donates to my golf. Outing is a tremendous guy.
He's really really his family. They live in Honting Creek,
straight up the street for me. But he's part owner
of a horse that I had no idea about Burnham Square,
Ian Wilkes's horse, Brian Hernandez Junior. They're twelve to one,
and David's telling me that he thinks his horse is

(11:59):
going to get some need this year. Anthony, So I
may have to put two dollars across the board. I
may have to on David Stanley's horse Burnham Square. I
just might have to do that. Since I got insider
trading information, Anthony, I might have to go with it, Anthony.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
Man, just just keep the two dollars, man and buy
me chicken, all right, Anthony.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
You don't think twelve to one's got mouth to Anthony?

Speaker 3 (12:23):
Well, I know, but you want to look at your
rights as they're coming out.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
Now they're coming, I know, here they come, Anthony ms Gwynn. Yep,
we're going to start to get the pictures at come
on up on the rail and they're coming out. Guys,
they're coming toward us right now.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
So if you hear me kind of get excited or
lose my composure, which I do all the time, that's
because they're so close to us. When they're so close,
get pictures. Well, guys, there's American promise. It goes right
by us. And he's got someone riding behind the horse,
you wall taping with his phone, taping them gallop their

(12:57):
citizen bull. So both of bought bad for horses and
come bias his grandating who people like jogging very slowly,
you all very slowly in the wrong direction, just to
let you know, but that's how they start.

Speaker 1 (13:14):
I can't see the training horses on the outside. I
can't see who's coming by us right now.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
Oh, Rodriguez, it's Rodriguez Anthony right there. Citizen bull has
turned around. Citizens bulls kind of running sideways.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
Guys. I don't know what that means, but I'm just
giving you verbatim.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
Flying mohawk Anthony, what do you think about? Flying mohawk Anthony?
Looks good, JOCKI is standing up on him, but ears
are ears are pronounced?

Speaker 1 (13:40):
Looks good?

Speaker 2 (13:42):
I mean, guys, I've never been this close. Ms Gwynn
is taking video. I don't want to speak too loud
because I don't want to spook them. But I'm telling
you I'm eight feet from If I reached out, I
could get close to Rodriguez. Because for some reason they
bring them out on the real guys.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
Then they gallop back on the inside to the middle
of the track.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
But when they bring them out, I mean they're directly
next to us. Unbelievable quick kick. That's a Oaks horse
just came by us.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
That quick kick. Anthony.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
Oh, guys, I wish I could experience this. I hope
I can describe it to you. To watch them come again,
see a little smoke coming out of their nose?

Speaker 1 (14:22):
Andy, what do you think? What do you see it?

Speaker 3 (14:25):
No, it's it's extraordinary. Is It's something you don't get
experience on a daily basis.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
So Andy, there there goes Kenneth mcpete's horse render judgment
right there, right in front of you. Kenny's horse looks good, guy.
Kenny's horse is big, Guys, he's big. He's much taller
than some of the other horses.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
Amazing. Well, this is just you hear them.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
You could probably hear the hoofs as they're starting to
jog and.

Speaker 1 (14:53):
Stretch the horses out.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Sovereignty just went yas Anthony, Sovereignty a beautiful chestnut. Years
of pronounced irving treatments. Really good guy. I'm glad I
came back. I'm being honest, Anthony, I'm just so glad
I came back. This is the first time I've been
on this side to where you can get so close
to him. On the backside, guys, they have the reil

(15:16):
further away.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
You can't get as close. Cheers. That is a Oaks horse.
You can't get as close as you can on the
front side.

Speaker 2 (15:24):
And watch them go through their paces and watching people
video their horses.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
Guys, so they bring them out on the rail in.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
The wrong direction and they take them back in the
middle of the track.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
I haven't seen anybody on the rail yet.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
Finally just went by and who you get old?

Speaker 1 (15:45):
They're Sandman. Guy.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
Sandman is a gray horse. My dad used to love
putting money on gray horses. What do you think, Ay,
what do you think about Sandman? I didn't know he
was a gray horse.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
All her as well. About sad Man is that he's
electric out the gates, so we'll see when he comes by.
I'm over getting nervous. His horses are walking by too close.
I think I'm gonna get kicked.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
I mean, you are that close to them. Just goin.
Make sure you get Anthony pictures of Anthony.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
Yes, I mean, guys, when we say we're this close,
have I stuck my arm out over the rail? I
could brush the horses close. As they're walking them out.
You know, you hear them galloping.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
And sovereignty you all here going by there.

Speaker 2 (16:29):
You can hear him breathing a little hard and stretching
him out a little bit on the stretch drive. Some
of them are just standing up on them. They're just
giving them a little gallop. And sometimes you can see
them stretch the horses.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
Out a little bit as they go by. Oh man,
I'm in all Anthony.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
You talk about those powerful animals over one thousand pounds, guys,
and their ankles are the size.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
Of hours publisher. Anthony.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
Here comes publisher, Here comes publisher. The jockeys are just
as cool.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
I'm telling you. They're cool, little guys. You all.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
I'm telling you they're on top of these powerful animals.
They handle them like they're nothing.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
They're taking. If you look to your left.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
Anthony, they're taking some of them to the panic to
get to see them. They're walking into the paddic. We're
gonna go back there next after this break, because they.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
Want them to get used to the paddic. Oh man,
mm hmmm.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
I've never written horse, Anthony, Oh, yes you have. I
used to ride them in Orlando. You ridden a horse.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
I didn't ride them. I was too young.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
You're too young.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Frankie did. That's right, you and I his mother rode
frank rode Ansley Road. I was frightened. I'm not getting
on horses, and Anthony was too young to ride when
we're in Orlando.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
That's so true, Anthony.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
I don't know if I'm ever going to get on
a horse. I love watching them run, but I just
don't think it's made for me. I think I'm too
fat anyway, two hundred and seven pounds. They don't need
to carry this much luggage, that's for sure.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
They can do it with you.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
Yeah, that's a movie, antheity, that's a movie.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
Oh guys, I just wish you could see him running
by the flag is just handing pronounced. I'm telling you,
the wind is going just perfectly for the flag to
be waving, just like you see in the movies. I mean,
it's just a movie backdrop. It is a true movie backdrop.
Back here, you can truly make a movie. So I
mean they're not someone hasn't come and made a movie

(18:38):
during this time. I mean, it's just I'm sure Churchill
Downs would not allow them. But it's a perfect, just
perfect place.

Speaker 1 (18:45):
So here's the deal. I'm gonna put money on d
Waye Lucas number five.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
I have to put money on can make Meat's horse
Render Judgment, and I'm surprised to see the size of render.
That is a very very very big horse. So I'm
gonna put some money there. You still haven't given me
your picks, told me where you're gonna put your money.

Speaker 1 (19:09):
And I need to know.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
I told I told you yesterday. You just weren't paying attention.
See you get caught sleep. I don't even know if
I can give my picks, because if you win money,
I might be upset. I think for Oaks, I think
my wondering Oaks. I'm gonna go with five G the

(19:31):
number eight horse. Okay, honestly, there's so there's so many
good options for Derby Sovereignty is walking by right now.
It's huge.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
Mm hmmm huge.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
I do love sovereignty journalism. I've seen a few. And
then there's bays are running by there with sandband right now.
So I don't know, there's so many options.

Speaker 2 (19:52):
I just can't. You guys have never been this close.
I've just never been to experience them. With the horses,
the horses are very calm, guys.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
It's it's routine for them.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
I haven't seen any of them disturbed and not bother
with us speaking. I mean, we're so close to them,
we could touch them, but they're not phased.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
They do not have the blinders on.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
Sometimes they'll put blinders on them and Anthony and the
Derby and they have a hard time keeping their focus,
but that's not an issue. A lot of horses now
are going back and to their barns. I see that
they're now leaving the track. They're only on here from
seven point fifteen to seven seven thirty five, so they're
starting to leave the track as we speak. Some are

(20:36):
taking them to the paddock so they can walk there,
trying to get ready for the Oaks, which is tomorrow
about five point fifty one and then Derby which is Saturday.
Huge monitors, John, I just you all, being a layman

(20:57):
that I am in the horse business. I want people
understand that they've got the hot walking horses that just.

Speaker 1 (21:04):
Calm them down.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
But these are magnificent animals and they're only three years old.
It's really early for these horses. When they're four or five,
when they're at their strongest, they're much more physical. But
right now they're immature babies, and that's why the crowds
really disturbed them, and anything out of the ordinary.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
Could spook them.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
Testastic just going by Anthony, it spook them because they're
just so young in this business. They've only had three
or four races. So publisher with the jockey standing up
on him, they have not released the publisher.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
The hot horse has been riding alongside him the entire way.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
All he's doing is standing up on him, just truly
walking him around the track.

Speaker 1 (21:49):
It's all that he's doing. So what we're going to
do at is we're going to stay on task. It's
already about seven. What time is it, guys, I'm lost
thirty Oh man, I'm glad you ought to get any
great pictures of this.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
We're gonna post all these things is when Blackbird is
getting the video for us. We're gonna post them so
that you'll be able to see the horses up close.
So maybe you'll be able to go on to the sports
radio and maybe it will help you make your decision
on You're gonna put a few.

Speaker 1 (22:22):
Dollars on again. East Avenue is out. Have fun with
the guys.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
Don't gamble things you can't afford. Everyone knows I'm not
a game where I'm not, but it is fun. I
am gonna put two dollars across the board on my
on my number number five favorite university and have fun
with him. But actually have fun with Oaks and Derby.
We get the super Bowl every year, the Super Bowl
every year. The world will be looking at us, Anthony,

(22:49):
and you're gonna look at it and that horse is.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
Gonna bite you. Yeah. Who is that horse right there, Anthony?

Speaker 3 (22:55):
That's Burnham Square.

Speaker 2 (22:57):
Burnham Square. That is David Stanley's horse trained by Wilkes.

Speaker 3 (23:03):
No horse, you bet, you say. The horses over here
is gonna bite me. See looks just like a five
dollars going down the drain.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
Burnham Square. Yes, that's spoke with David Stanley yesterday. It
just adds to it when you know people that are
involved in the horse business and you get to see
their horses, and he's excited. He'll be here tomorrow, Thursday, Friday.
I don't know if it's coming on on Saturday. I
know he's coming today.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
After tomorrow. I will see tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (23:28):
I'm not coming to the track today. So we're gonna
leave it right there at We're gonna work our way
to the Paddick area during this break. But this is
EVE Sports Radio. We got chatting the dude behind the glass.
We got Miss Gwynn videotaping Anthony, not me. I got
a face for radio. But Anthony, he needs to be
known and we'll.

Speaker 1 (23:46):
Be back in him.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
Welcome back to Eve's Sports Radio. It's seven thirty four.
We're at the front side of Churchill Down. They're getting
ready for the racist today. They're preparing all the boxes.

Speaker 1 (23:59):
Guys. I had never.

Speaker 2 (24:01):
Anthony where I'm standing right now, I had never seen before.
But guys, they've got beautiful open air boxes, larger fifteen
yards off the rail.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
That are just fantastic.

Speaker 2 (24:14):
They're preparing them, getting them ready for today's racing. They're
getting all the drinks prepared. Guys have been here, like Anthony,
you said, they've been here for quite a while preparing
for this, and I'm truly just getting it in people's ways.

Speaker 1 (24:28):
Now. That's what I do on esports Radio.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
So Anthony, let everybody know what's going on with the
rest of the NBA games. In the National Hockey League,
we haven't done any national news all week.

Speaker 3 (24:40):
Yeah, so obviously with the NBA games we had last night,
we did. We did have the Lakers go out in five?
Was the Lakers in five? Lakers eliminated in five? They
lost one, three to ninety six. You've got more embarrassing.
I hate to say, it's embarrassing. If you let Rudy
Gogarag go for twenty seven points and twenty four rebounds
in forty minutes, you don't deserve to win any bafflore game.
I'm sorry, I said no. You can hate me for

(25:02):
the you can hate me for the Rudy Gobert slander,
but he's got to be one of the worst All
Stars I've ever seen in my entire life.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
Did you hear she she kill O'Neil says, when you
let that boy have numbers, you know you're awful.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
Oh you're horrible. He can't even score. You let him
almost go for thirty and like, I'm like, twenty four
rebounds made it even worse. I'm like, at that point,
you weren't even boxing them. You aren't even guard him.
He's out there playing by himself.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
I told you one thing. Anthony Davis is sitting back
now at Dallas going hmm. I told you so, everybody,
Anthony Davis, Luke is gonna show you he'll take the
Lakers to the finals. Anny Davis said, Lebron James is
a load. People just don't want to ever tell the truth.
He is a load, Anthony. You have to carry that boy.
He doesn't run back. He can plays on every call.

(25:45):
He's played a long time, Anthony, but it's time for
him to really look at giving it up. I mean,
he's just playing for numbers now, he's not playing for championships.
And I'm glad that he's healthy and that is big
that he states that is healthy this long. Guys, you're
not winning in anything with Lebron James, period, point blanker
JJ riddikin start to lie to you all with his
son sitting on the bench.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
All they want.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
You're winning nothing, absolutely nothing, that's all, So go ahead
and finish out with the Nation News.

Speaker 1 (26:13):
I'm just I'm so glad.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
Bye Lakers, Bye bye.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
Go ahead, Rudy, finish it up.

Speaker 3 (26:26):
Yeah. Of course. Then obviously we got a couple of
games going on the night in the East and in
the West as well. We got the Knicks taking on
Fishiness to night for their Game six, New york'slub three
to two on that one, seven thirty on T and T,
and then even after that we got the Nuggets and
Clippers going on their Game six as well. Never made
a huge surgeon a comeback to where they could take
this series to night, So we never know. You counted
didn't brown earlier in the series of how they look,

(26:46):
But they put some things together and they're winning games.
I think they'll get the Clippers done tonight. I think
they'll take care of business.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
Okay, excellent.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
I mean Jamal Murray, Jamal had a huge game. If
Jamal plays his ability gains Denver.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
He showed us he did. He showed us. He showed
us Jamal Murray Bubble edition back in twenty twenty. I'm like, look,
all you needed?

Speaker 1 (27:09):
Was that all?

Speaker 3 (27:09):
He needed was that one game, that little confidence CERs
that forty three points is gonna take my long way
in this Western Conference. I promise you.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
I talked about Donovan Mitchell seven threes and Jamal comes
and goes with eight threes. I'm telling you that your connection,
they've been balling Chake Gilders, Alexander Mitchell. I mean they've
been balling Jamal Murray, they've been balling Anthony. They've really
been playing well. We've got things to watch. Players that
we know that we pulled for are really playing well.

(27:36):
I think it's gonna be okay. See in Cleveland in
the finals. I'm looking forward to it.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
I don't care.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
I'm sick of the Lakers. I don't hear about the
Knicks in Boston. I know you like Boston, but I'd
like to see Cleveland, OKC.

Speaker 1 (27:48):
I really would Chake Gilders, Donovan Mitchell.

Speaker 3 (27:52):
I think that'd be the most like evenly matchup series.
I think, from guards all the way down to big man,
I think that is by far the closest between You know,
you got Jared Allen going against hard and Sign, you
got Evan Mobigains, Schett Holgram, Mitchell and sta Darius Garland
and Jade and Williams, and then you also got Isaac
Okorrel and.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
They both teams have a lot of pieces. Their role
players are phenomenal. That's what the big difference is between
these two teams. Every team has all stars and guys
that can go out there to score. Selx just have
the same thing. That's why there was a strong contention,
because their role players can come in there and pick
up the slack when they all this done. Peyton Pritchrick
can score sixteen points in the night. Derek White can
go for twenty points in the night. That's the difference

(28:32):
maker pursuing a lot of these teams. That's the reason
why I'm not so sold on teams like the Knicks
and the Pistons. It's just, you know, if they don't
go out there their superstars, their superstars don't play well,
they struggle to get win games. Or they do win games,
they are very very close. There's not fifteen or twenty
throwing blows like there is in the West exactly.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
Struggle to score, Anthony, No, they struggle to.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
Score without a doubt, Anthony, And now all the other
horses are out Anthony, Look at that horse now, they're
straight him out.

Speaker 1 (29:01):
Like you said, guys, they.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
Have brought out horses that may be running Saturday creminary
races or maybe even today. Would you see them really
training these horses. They're full all out running down the stretch,
I mean running. And there's probably with the Kentucky Oaks
and Derby. I probably we probably had training horses out
twenty five told all the horses weren't out. Now I'm

(29:24):
looking at at least twenty five thirty horses on the
street side when they released the track to all the
other horses to come and train.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
Probably more. Huh oh, I'm an Anthony.

Speaker 2 (29:35):
I had no idea, but you know I'm standing the brand, Anthony.
I'm standing in the wood Reserves Winter Circle. This is
the winner, Sir. I had never been here. Churchill Down's
got the roses. I'm standing right here, amazing.

Speaker 3 (29:48):
I think they can't take they can't kick you out
your our path allows the Winter Circle this year, it does.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
You know, Darren Rock.

Speaker 2 (29:57):
That's all Anthony. I have to admit people have been
taking care of me. Darren Rodgers, vice president of of
the marketing here not marketing of the media here at
Churchill Down's is taking great care of us, going yourself
at I.

Speaker 1 (30:10):
So I want to let him know I'm appreciative.

Speaker 2 (30:13):
But yes, I'm standing in the winter circle watching these horses.

Speaker 1 (30:17):
So there are a few more people behind you now, Anthony,
than I expected. And I know there's no dawn at
the Downs, but I see it. You're coming to me.

Speaker 2 (30:26):
Yes, there's nobody over here, but it's starting. The excitement
is starting to build.

Speaker 3 (30:31):
Yeah, they got flooded over there pretty quickly. I turn around.
There's a whole basketball team of people behind me. I'm like, well, unexpected.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
When I turn around, guys and start to look, I
am dead first Derby eighteen seventy five. This is one
hundred and fifty running of Kentucky Derby in twenty twenty five,
and I'm right in between the two Twin spires.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
Guys, the originals.

Speaker 2 (30:58):
It's nice know they've been redone, but still it's just majestic.
It's just the history. It's the horror of understanding. The
longest sporting event ever is the Church of That is
Kentucky Derby, Anthony.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (31:13):
Televised radio back in nineteen twenty five, TV nineteen forty seven.
Call Anthony nineteen forty seven, forty eight, they televised the
first Kentucky Derby. That'll let you know, guys, what we have.
I mean, honestly, this is the Mecca, this is the
super Bowl. I know, people, I do understand that the
prices are low pricing, I.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
Understand, and you all know I'm not a gambler.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
I'm not, but you still can't beat the history and
what this thing is all about. There always hasn't been
a lot of money in the Kentucky Derby. It was
just about trainers and horses and.

Speaker 1 (31:48):
Jockeys who loved it.

Speaker 2 (31:51):
I mean, these horses now hauling, they are rolling, guys,
my goodness, they're rolling.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
And you want to go back to the paddish I did.

Speaker 2 (32:01):
I was going to make a bad decision. I was
going to make a bad decision. No what am I
looking at? Across the way and on the video screen Sovereign.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
Though on the on the board, so it goes in
there shows their last workout. So it shows the fur
links that they ran and the time that they ran it.
And so they ran five fur links and the men
in one second fifty nine seconds. It shows their top
track times of the last workout. They tracked their workouts timing.
That's how much to do everything, So they don't just
come out here and just run in circles. Just agreethm.
That's like a track star when he wants to get
ready for a four and a meter. Even when you

(32:31):
run in the practice rounds, you still want a time.
It's you want to know where you're standing at if
you're going hard, even in your practice round for even
if you're going your seventy five eighty percent, where you
stand to kind of give you more of a numbers.
We like to say that Derby is a big statistical game,
and it is in a certain rail, but at the
same time, a little bit has to just do with
luck of decision making. But do you want to come
out there, You want to have the best odds and
the best opportunity for your horse to win. You have

(32:53):
to know that the patient likes to run at time
behind it the time behind the other horses, which plays
a huge factor in it. So you know, Sovereignty runs
at a faster pace than Sandman, and you know Sandman
is more of a distance racer than a sprint You
want to hold him back more in the second group
than the first group and be that leading horse to
go out there and tire himself out.

Speaker 1 (33:13):
It's some guys. They're showing the horses.

Speaker 2 (33:17):
Like Anthony said April twenty seven, they showed sovereignty running
one of the better times, one of the better splits
on the track.

Speaker 1 (33:25):
And they do. Guys.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
They track everything, I mean absolutely everything. They're they're coming
down out of the paddock. You've got horses on the
track they're training. It looks like these two horses.

Speaker 1 (33:37):
Are you even going at each other? A little bit
out here, guys, and they.

Speaker 2 (33:41):
Shut them down once they pass the finish line.

Speaker 3 (33:44):
The trainer horse with the racing horses, they'll usually run
together to keep a pace. They usually have a pace horse.
They usually see two horses running fast as usually under
the same owner.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
Okay, excellent, and I'm glad you know because I do not. Guys,
we're at seven forty five. We're gonna get to our
last break. We're keep this thing a task. All I
can tell you is please come out to Churchill Downs
next week. The following week, go to be here. Spring
meet will be here for a while. Come out here,
enjoy yourself. Bring you forty fifty bucks. It's not that

(34:18):
it chances to get in. Make some wagers, cheer on
the horses.

Speaker 1 (34:22):
Make sure you buy your hot dog. I've been eating
these hot dogs since I was probably six years old.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
If you ask me what do I remember, I'm telling
you on my deathbed, I'm gonna say the hot dogs
in Churchill Downs.

Speaker 1 (34:33):
That's what I remember. Hot dogs and a coat.

Speaker 2 (34:35):
That's what my dad used to about it, and told
me to go sit down over in the corner and
be quite amy.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
I went.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
I used to go pick up old tickets. Oh lord,
losing tickets. People would tear something up.

Speaker 1 (34:45):
They wouldn't.

Speaker 2 (34:45):
I'd say, is this a winner? My dad would take
it out of my hands at me and just tear
it up. He says it's on the ground for a reason.
It's a loser. I said, oh, probably one of yours.
My dad would get mad. So anyway, guys forty six
and Eves Jery's is Gwyn Blackburn standing in the winning
circle Wood Reserves winner circle at Churchill Downs.

Speaker 1 (35:07):
We'll be back for our last episode in a minute. Wow,
come back to Eve's Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
Maybe the first twenty twenty five were at front side
of Churchill Downs. I was trying to walk to the
paddock like I was a trainer or a horse, and
two ladies told me that's a no go. So they
would have to tackle me if I tried to walk
in double no go today. So we're just letting you
know how close we are. Fantastic morning, beautiful morning here

(35:34):
at Churchill Downs. All I know is this, guys, when
I'm looking at Miss Gwynn Blackburn, who does not have
headphones on, but she's at every event with us, I've
never ever stood where I'm standing now. And to watch
these animals run as fast as they're going all the
way through the finish line, Anthony, and to watch the

(35:55):
jockey stand.

Speaker 1 (35:56):
Up on them amazing. I do know this.

Speaker 2 (36:02):
For people that are listening and have not come out
to the track, you need to make it a family
event one.

Speaker 1 (36:09):
Day this spring. Come and buy grandstand seats.

Speaker 2 (36:15):
They're at the far left end where I used to
as a little kid, Anthony, and we would come in
and I don't know if in the old days happening
you could bring your chicken, you bring your drinks, let.

Speaker 1 (36:24):
You do anything they did. People didn't have money, We
didn't have money for that.

Speaker 3 (36:27):
Well, Okay, man, they got boozed you. Now you're not
bringing in your fried chicken from Proger in here. Okay,
you got luck. Let you even We even let you.

Speaker 1 (36:37):
We lucky.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
We let you bring the bag in here. Man, we
didn't check it and patch you down. Make sure you
ain't coming in here and turning the john.

Speaker 1 (36:42):
Wait four, No, it's not gonna happen. But guys, guys,
you need to come out. I mean, just to stay
in this close.

Speaker 2 (36:51):
I'm in all, I really am in all of what
I'm experiencing right now, and each year it gets better.
So let's good luck to all the trainers, Anthony, all
the jockeys, all the owners that have put in tons
of money into these horses to have this experience and
this opportunity to run and one hundred and fifty first

(37:11):
running of the Kentucky der w and Oaks.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
Yeah, and I see you backing up, Quinn. Guys, we
could touch that horse. Wow, goodness, gosh, you all gosh.
I mean, guys, were advenis from them. They walk by
us like it's nothing.

Speaker 2 (37:30):
They're just huge, I mean, just amazing. Shannon, you're gonna
have to get out of there. You're gonna get down
to the track one day. You got to get them
out and get you out of that that cuvey hole
that you're in that closet. You're gonna come out of
experience this one time. It is really a sight to
be seen. And guys, the backside, there's so many people
over there, it's bumper cars. All that you're doing is

(37:52):
walking bumping into each other. Now you may bump into
d Waye Lucas or Bob Bafford or Bale Roman or
Kenneday Pete, but it's just.

Speaker 1 (38:01):
Now. Security is keen Anthony's playing. Guys.

Speaker 2 (38:04):
To get here, we had to drive to the fairgrounds,
go through metal detectors, put your bags through, get on
the bus they bring you here. When you get off,
you go through metal detectors again. You have to scan
your paths to get through. It's almost like a retina scan.
I was getting ready to say soon you have to
look at it. I mean, the security is so high
because of all the things that have happened at different

(38:25):
sporting events, So there's nothing here that they have not
thought about and covered. We broke Martin Dunbar in two
years ago. There is absolutely no way we could ever
do that again. Absolutely no way at all.

Speaker 1 (38:40):
So at the parties. I was at the Urban League
gala last night.

Speaker 2 (38:47):
That's why I'm telling people I'm standing up because if
I sat down, I would fall asleep. I am so tired.
But we had a good time. I don't know who
the entertainer was, but she was good. She was more
rock and roll. She made a lot of noise. Coach
Houston and Alice Houston walk.

Speaker 1 (39:03):
Out with us. But it was fun. It was for
a great event.

Speaker 2 (39:05):
A lot of money was raised for the Urban League
and all the things that they do with down payment assistance,
which bj Moseley, one of my players.

Speaker 1 (39:13):
Has had down payment assistance.

Speaker 2 (39:14):
I've got Stephen Spaudy and another one of my players
that is involved with the down payment assistance. So there
are a lot of great things that their plan is doing.
We had a great time. The only problem is I'm
sixty six and I can't burn the cabin of both
hands had me. So you tell me what parts is
going on now? Yeah, so Russell got burdy what's going
on in the city after?

Speaker 3 (39:33):
And then look at that's exclusive So you can't be
just throwing out there on the radio. All right, I
told you two information now you're just spilling it like
a cup of water. Folks, we you didn't hear that.
We do know about the Sports Illustrated party, but most
of these parties are invite only for the most part.
You know, you gotta be in a circle of circles
to getting these. I know my brother's going with his fiance.

(39:56):
I will not be going. I'm gonna be relaxing at home.
I'll be watching the Racis and now I will come
out to the track Saturday and I will watch experiences.
You know, I got to go to my rooftop. Makes
me feel important even though I'm not. But hey, I'm
choking it in all right, I got I got to
pass around my neck. I'm walking through here like like
they know who I am because I do, baby, because
we eat sports radio.

Speaker 1 (40:20):
I'm telling you, like New Road. Yes, a lot of
parties going on the barn stables. What's going on?

Speaker 3 (40:28):
Yeah, they still have the Phillies and Sally's going on
on Friday night. If I'm not long with this, Friday
night's fake. Go and stick your hand out here and
see if a horse and bunch to night.

Speaker 1 (40:37):
No, it's moving away.

Speaker 2 (40:43):
How want you know? On a sad note Anthony last
night behind like during your bridgemand everyone knows or at the.

Speaker 1 (40:51):
Urban and we know last year, last you know years
here and last year.

Speaker 2 (41:01):
They now said it was going to be his last
and it and.

Speaker 3 (41:09):
He that part God works mysterious. Was he like he
knew he.

Speaker 1 (41:17):
Died, guys.

Speaker 2 (41:18):
I mean that's what a great junior bridgman without a doubt,
all the things that he did. And like you said
last night, he was a giver and did not.

Speaker 1 (41:27):
Want people to know. And sometimes I used to argue
with him, and I'm being honest with you. We build
his plan and I would argue with he and.

Speaker 2 (41:35):
Couple on my would say no, I said, Junior, sometimes
people need to know that you're giving. They do, and
we used to argue about that. But he was a
giver without a doubt. And his family said that they're
going to continue to do the same thing as his
daughters spoke at the Urban League gala.

Speaker 1 (41:53):
Guys, I would not be on live.

Speaker 2 (41:56):
We will have Tuesdays tape show from Wagner's Restaurant.

Speaker 1 (41:59):
It's a great show. Please listen.

Speaker 2 (42:00):
If you weren't able to listen to it on Tuesday,
come out and experience this.

Speaker 1 (42:04):
Thank you all.

Speaker 2 (42:05):
We love you all for listening to us, toleraten us,
and we'll talk to you all on Monday.

Speaker 1 (42:09):
God willing love you, Thank you, standing bye bye
