Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to Eve's Sports Radio. It is Thursday. Yes,
it is May the fifteenth, twenty twenty five. Phone numbers
five zero two five seven one seventy nine hundred. That's
five zero two five seven one seventy nine hundred. This
is Sports Talk seven ninety KRD. We've got Shannon behind

(00:22):
the glass sitting in today. Appreciate you, Shannon. We've got
my younger son, Anthony. Eve's on the other line. Anthony,
how are you?

Speaker 2 (00:31):
I'm doing fantastic sport.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
How are you?

Speaker 1 (00:33):
I'm ready to row, Anthony. And it's PGA today. I
just want everyone to know. Let me see it again.
We do have March madness. We have football kind of madness.
Now that we have the playoffs in college football. I
like that. Nothing better than the NFL. That is my
favorite sport. Everyone knows that Mark Jackson is my favorite player.

(00:56):
My villain is the goat. Tom Brady the best peer,
point blank. But now we've got the PGA tournament. I
know people are sitting around there morning, going PGA tournament.
Who wants to watch that? I do? Can't wait. I'm
gonna get this yard work done and I'm gonna be
dead on it. That's all I can tell you what

(01:16):
we're gonna speak about that today. Secondly, I'm pumped up
Anthony at seven fifteen special guest calling into E Sports Radio.
We have the one and only, the one and only
Peyton Siva. Can't say it's his first time. Peyton's been
on numerous times with me, Anthony, but we've got Peyton
coming back on on PK's coaching staff, and PK put

(01:37):
out a lot of information yesterday at the a SEC
tournament that's more additional players would be coming. So you
know we're gonna put Peyton Siva on the spot. Even
though he will not be able to announce the names,
I'm still gonna put him on the spot. Can't wait
for that seven point fifteen and we're gonna hear Coach
Kelsey's interview, and then Anthony, we're just gonna talk NBA,
which I'm gonna get ready to throw to you in

(01:58):
a second, the WN which is getting ready to start.
So Anthony, other than this, before we get started, it's
May fifteenth. It's payday for a lot of people. Paid day.
I got paid today from Simmons College. Cannot believe it.
It's unbelievable that I get paid for doing what I
do at Simmons College. I'm not kidding you. It's unbelievable, Anthony.

(02:22):
I can't believe they get it. Remember cost me gives
me a check. Boy. What a good day, the first
thing to fifteenth. Everyone loves that day, those two days
of the month, Anthony, nothing wrong with Payday. So I
just wanted to make sure we've got days for every days.
We got Mother's Day, you know, we accidentally have Father's Day.
You all know the deal. We've got a holiday for

(02:43):
every day, but we don't have a holiday for Payday.
So Anthony, I just thought i'd make one the fifteenth.
I got paid today from Simmons College. What a blessing.
And it's a holiday, So everybody, you can leave work
now paid holiday. Don't you all agree? I should hear
the whole city going, yes, we agree. So anyway, let's

(03:07):
throw it to you, and let's start with what's going
wrong with that WNBA. My Golden State Warriors came out
of there, but that's okay, came out of there yesterday.
What happens? What's gonna happen with this final four? Left?

Speaker 3 (03:21):
With this NBA Playoffs, it's gonna that's it's gonna be
a close contest. Obviously, the Warriors did get bounced out
yesterday as well, they lost one twenty one to one ten. Obviously,
Steph Career being out with that hamstring injury made it
a little bit more difficult for him. Minnesota went on
to win that series four to one. They'll be playing
the win of the OKC Denver game, which OKAC is

(03:41):
up in that series three to two, coming back from
being down two to one earlier on in that series.
So my prediction will most likely be OKAC versus Minnesota,
which I think is the matchup that everyone wants to
see so far.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Yes, no question, Shay Gill, Nicks, Alexander and ant Man.
I'm looking forward to it. I'm telling you that's what
I want to see. But do not sell Joker short.
Nikolaia's very good, Anthony, do not sell Denver short. And
here's the problem. They lost a lot of their role players,
like coach Beard said, and Murray has been inconsistent. He'll

(04:16):
either give you forty five and they'll beat you ten
or he struggles. It just depends on how Murray plays.
So if Denver can get through this game six, Anthony
and create a game seven. You have no idea what
can happen, But I had picked everyone knows okay See
Cleveland Final. I think okay See is coming out of

(04:40):
that one, but we have to wait and see it.
We do have to wait and see. I'm looking forward
to it, though. So who do you think? I mean,
do you think Denver has a chance at all? Or
do you think okay C's going to take care of business.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
I think you always will have a chance with Denver.
I'm not going to ever count Denver out. Are they
in a tougher situation than they have in the last
couple of years. Yes, case, he's one of the better
defending teams in the NBA. They have a better game
plan for how they called nicolea jokice. But Jamal Murray,
his supporting cast, has been a little bit under the

(05:12):
belt obviously when they doubled Nicole. Ok Jamal Murray's not
playing up to his potential.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Paying well, Gordon's playing well.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
I'm sorry. Porter has been awful. Michael Porters is awful.
Awful Christian Brady brother Westbrook for the style, how for
how Okay he's playing them? It doesn't fit Westbrook style
because it can't shoot.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
They don't guard that guy. That's what makes it so difficult.
They don't guard him. They do not guard Westbrook and
at half court said they legitimately just double team joke.
That's all they have to do. And I mean Westbrook
throws up more bricks from that corner. It's like, just
drive the ball, driving kick, just don't shoot. It was

(06:03):
Rockett's embarrassing. I mean, it's just Anthony. It's embarrassing watching
that he guys shoot the ball. And I mean he's
been a very very good player, Anthony. He's got super
numbers in the league, most triple doubles, all the Anthony, Please,
good gosh. That's what their problem. They do not have
perimeter shooting. They do not And I and I'm just

(06:26):
I've been Okaycee from the beginning. I'm staying Okac, no
question about it. So I'm looking forward to this OKC Minnesota, Anthony.
Minnesota got lucky that Curry was injured. Curry puts so
much stress on your defense, Anthony. First thing, he never
stops moving. That's why I couldn't stand to watch Jason

(06:48):
Tatum play walking up the floor. Brown is athletic that
those two guys are walking up the floor. They need
to take the playbook from Curry watching his movement. How
many miles in a game that he runs, how teams
how kerr uses him to improve the other players. His
movement gives other players opportunities to score easy baskets. He's

(07:10):
good for the team. But now all we have is
one guy dribbled for a guy stand and oh I
hate watching Boston play. Good win for him last night.
But the Knicks are gonna cremate them. You wait till
they go back to the guard. They're gonna get killed,
Madison Square Guard. They're gonna get killed. So that's kind
of my opinion, Anthony. What do you like Jaylen Brunson.

(07:31):
You like the way he plays, Anthony, He's.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
Been effective recently. What I said, I would take that
all the way through the NBA Finals. No, I wouldn't.
If I think I hate to say it. I think
it works in the East. I don't think that works
in the West. West Is just has better defenders, bigger guards.
I mean, he's been going against you know, Darius Garland,
He's going against you know, Tyrese Holliburton. Probably in the

(07:57):
next series. These aren't very physical guards. They're very much
so finesse and a little bit more flashiness. He's not
going against SGA who walks you down to the mid
range post consistently. You know, he's not going against even
even the Westbrooks, a little bit more aggressive and physical goings.
But he doesn't play. He doesn't play against those guards

(08:18):
in the East. The East guards are kind of soft
in my opinion, which is usually usually the other way around.
But I think if they do bands, which they have
a good chance against the Pacers. I won't say that
obviously they have to be Boston first to that series
not over.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
But I put my money on it it's over.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
And then we thought that, we thought it was. We
thought it was last night, and they lost almost they
almost lost my thirty.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
Well, but yeah, they were in the gardens though, Anthon,
they were at home and they played well. But you
just wait all the knicks filed out. You just wait
till they go back to New York. This thing ends.
And honestly, when he played for Dallas Brunson, he was
a very good player. I know his dad super I'm
gonna have to get his dad on I mean, really,
really really well. I didn't think he'd be this good.

(09:03):
But he really is a good player, Anthony. And the
thing I like about him, he's physical. His whole game
is predicated on physicality. Now, you're right, Wait till he
starts playing those sixty six guards shake Gillies Alexander with
the armreach of a sixty nine player. Oh, it'll be
a lot different, more difficult. You're right. The West Coast guards,
Anthony are top of the line, there's no question about that.

(09:25):
Their length, their sides, their quickness, just their athletic ability
top to bottom will make it a little bit more
difficult for him and he will have to guard them. Okay, great,
we'll have to guard him. And we got the one
and only, the one and only Peyton' sevelns seven to fifteen.
We're gonna go to break so we come back. We'll
just have him and Anthony can't wait to speak with him,

(09:45):
great young man. I had he and Russ Smith Ron
when we're in the old radio station and had a
chance to speak with him. And all the things, great
things he's done around the city, all the giving he's done,
all the camps he's done. Now he's on Coach PK's staff,
tremendous turnaround li last year. Guys. We can't wait to
speak to the one and only Peyton Seva after the break,
Welcome back to Eves Sports Radio. Of course, I've got

(10:08):
my younger son, Anthony Eves and breaking him in to
the business. Anthony, We've got to introduce this young man correctly.
I want everybody to understand what he's done and accomplished.
Siva spent four season University of Louisville, OH Nine through thirteen,
appearing in one hundred and forty four career games, helping
lead the Cardinals to the twenty thirteen National Championship. After

(10:29):
coming off the bench as a freshmen, seven started every
game his final three years at Louisville, averaging nine point
seven points five point five assists per game. Cevia led
the Cardinals to back to back Big EIA's tournament championships
twenty twelve twenty thirteen. It was named tournament MVP bos
seasons Dang. Peyton Stevin recorded eighteen points five assists in
the twenty thirteen National Championship game. Here's one thing I got, Anthony.

(10:52):
It's the only thing I got him on You know,
I'm not Peyton. I'm no good. Everybody knows I'm no good.
Siva was selected as the fifty sixth player in the
twenty thirteen draft of the Detroit Pistons. Guess what, Peyton,
I was the fifty fifth player. Two to utajays, there
you go, There you go, Peyton. Welcome to the show, brother,
How are you.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
I'm good? Thanks for having me, Thanks for having me?

Speaker 1 (11:14):
Oh, no question, Peyton, appreciate it. No, the city thanks
for having you. And you've made yourself a part of
this town. You've stayed, you've grown with the city, and
we appreciate all the things you've done for the city
of Louisville and the University of Louisville. But let's just
get to it first. Six. We know I was at
the game. We've got this TBT. I've been in all
the games that were held in Louisvil. Tell me your

(11:36):
opinion before the first game two years ago, what did
you think about it, and what do you think about
the tournament now?

Speaker 4 (11:44):
Honestly, I didn't know what to expect with the tvt
and when we first had the first game a couple
of years ago, it was just a chance to really
just play in front of a couple of my friends
and family back here in little and a couple of
the fans. But what it turned out, man, the fans
just came out crazy and it blew us all away,

(12:07):
and that's why we wanted to bring it back the
year after year, and the love and support just continue
to grow. And we had a blast right As you know,
when you leave, you know the city of Louisville, and
you play professionally, it's very rare that you get a
chance to play in front of friends and family again,
especially when you go see so to have that opportunity
to come back and play in front of the best fans,

(12:27):
it is truly amazing and a special opportunity and one
that we couldn't pass up. And I've just been blown
away by the response from the fans and it's been.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
Fun to be a part of Now as we will
know see what will be working under form of teammate
Luke Hancock. We know Luke is the head coach, you're
the assistant, you are the next Bill Russell player, coach
of the field. I've already gotten you pegged and don't
worry about it. We have got Mantres. Harrold's coming back.
David Johnson who I know he and his mother so well,

(12:56):
they're come into my house and eat all the time.
Jay Scruggs, who was he made at Trinity. I knew
that boy when he's in the tenth grade. David Sloan,
who's a very good player. You've got a lot of
nice little additions to your team this year, so you're
all trying to get the money. Let's talk talk about
this million dollars. You are trying to get the money
or not, Peyton, I need to know.

Speaker 4 (13:15):
Yeah, of course, of course, we're always trying to go
out there and win and got a little bit younger
this year, younger talent out.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
There, which is good.

Speaker 4 (13:25):
But yeah, I mean, you know, we got some good
representations of the city at Louisville with those players, like
you said, Sloan and Scrub and David, so they understand
what it means to, you know, play in the city
at Louisville but also have Louisville tie. So we're excited
about having it on the squad.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
Yes, if people are coming in you're listening to Peyton Seve,
assistant coach University of Louisville for coach Kelsey, who was
on last Monday, and we're going to get into that
in a second. Now with the game, I want you
to tell people about the ticket sales. The more we sell,
the quicker we sell, the more home games you all have,
which is the best opportunity you have to win this money.

(14:04):
Let's talk about what they need to do where they
need to go to buy the seats to watch you
all play Payton.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
So yeah, I mean our fining. It's actually accomplished that
goal for us, which is like I said, it speaks
volumes to the stand base. We already sold and reached
our goal of four thousand tickets, So shout out to
the fans where we really appreciate your love and support.
We still have more tickets if anybody wants to buy them,
and we'll love to have them come to the games.

(14:32):
But by reaching that four thousand goal, we down secured
home court advantage throughout the whole TVT tournament, which is
you know, amazing and we saw last year. I mean,
having the home court advantage really helps out a lot,
and especially in tight games where you know, sometimes the

(14:53):
game I mean it's basketball, right, there's highs and lows,
the game of runs, but having that home court behind
you is really something that's impactful to the players to
kind of get us over that edge, and a lot
of people aren't used to playing in front of that
type of crowd, so we really appreciate it and for
us to get that four thousand and go with as
a testament to how much the city supports us. So

(15:16):
I'm super excited about it. I've been about it all
the time and I can't wait to see the response
this year.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
Yes, because it says you all have reached your goal.
For more information on this year's TBT or thevill visit
TBT hoops dot com. That's tbtoops within this dot com.
Now let's talk. We got to talk about that family
up the street. You know, that's team up the street.
We got to talk about them. It's gonna come down
to you again. How do we how do we win

(15:45):
this week? I've been at every game, Peyton, I've been
at every game that's been held it. Of course, you know,
I had to go to my home gym, the fair Grounds.
I love the smell of the popcorn, Peyton, I really do.
The smell of the popcorn and the fairgrounds is just
nostalgic for me. I love it. What we have to
do to get it done. We've got to take care
of the family up the street. What we have to do,
make more shots. What's going on?

Speaker 4 (16:06):
I thought we did last year. I mean, I thought
Stina really stepped up down for them and made some
crazy threes against us.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
But I lost you, Peyton Payton last year against them,
say that again, we lost you. I'm sorry.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
Oh yeah, now I would say, you know, I thought
they did a really good job last year of you know,
Sustina made some timely threes in that second half against us,
that third quarter really you know, propelled them in front
of us. But for us, man, we just got to
continue to play together, continue to make some outside shots
this year, rebound. I thought we did a better job

(16:47):
in the second half last year against them. But that's
what it comes down to.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
Man.

Speaker 4 (16:53):
Can we get those extra possessions right, especially with TVT
and elim ending. If we can get those extra possessions
with our bigs, I think that's that's huge and it's
going to really help us out. Having Mantrez back, having
Jay scrub another you know, dynamite score, having Sloan he's
a great three point shooter, even David Johnson. So I
really looking forward to having those guys out there and

(17:15):
being able to knock down timely shots for us, and
again gonna need the crowd. They're gonna need our fan
base behind us, sharing us on and getting getting that.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
Dub now before we let you go. Of course, of
course Kelsey's on. I was watching the ACC and a
lot of people are predicting you all because you're on
his staff to win the ACC this year, first time
in Louisville history, that if you all could win it
very close last year, great turnaround. I wanted you to
listen to a clip of coach Kelsey speaking about some

(17:46):
of the newcomers. I know you can't talk about them,
but I just want you to talk about the dynamics
of the team. But I want everybody to get a chance.
This is Peyton Siva. Peyton't want you to listen to
a comment that Coach Kelsey said yesterday, play it for me.

Speaker 5 (18:00):
Continuing to add a couple of pieces that you may
hear about here here relatively soon, Loot.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
We're excited to hear it pumped out.

Speaker 4 (18:05):
That's why I'm picking you guys to win it.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
Man.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
I'm just telling you, I'm not trying to put any present,
but I say, who cares what I say.

Speaker 5 (18:11):
I'm just Josh is up in his room going Now
like Kelse, you relax a little.

Speaker 1 (18:15):
Bit, sir.

Speaker 4 (18:16):
You know, I just think you guys are on the
cusp of something unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (18:22):
I don't know, but I do know this that when
the guys all arrive in that first week of June,
there will be nothing ever talked about except for and
you've heard me say this many times, the next thing
we do, and our goal will have to be to
have the best summer in all of college basketball, and
continuing to add a couple of pieces that you may
hear about here here relatively soon.

Speaker 1 (18:42):
We're excited. So that was coach yesterday. And of course
you're speaking with Luke Hankock Witch, the head coach of
the TVT about these new additions. I know you can't
speak about them, but tell me about the players that
are coming in. They'll be coming in the first of June.
I let all the fans know what you expect from
this year's team.

Speaker 4 (19:04):
Yeah, I would say that we have some very talented
players coming in, you know, from the ones that have
been announced with the Ryan Comwells, Mike kel Brown, Asian Lee, Isma,
Nee Lee, all those guys. So very excited about those guys.
Really good shot creators, all forty percent above three point shooters,

(19:25):
and just amazing human beings. And that was one of
the big things for coach kel Seaton's staff to really
go after was just high character players, high character people.
And I know Coach Kelsey said, you know, winning the
ACC championship and all those things are great when you're
you know, picked that way. Thank you guys for the recognition,

(19:45):
but for our culture and our staff, you know, Coach
Kelsey really harps on is not winning those things right
having it. It's about having the number one culture. And
if we can have the number one culture in college basketball,
everything else will take care of itself. It's not the
wins in the law. It's about having the number one culture.
And that's what we try to harp onto our players
every day and that's what we really focus on in

(20:06):
the summer. And as coach Kelsey says, what's the most
important thing is the next thing. And so we can't
predict what's going to go what's going to happen five, six,
seven months from now. All we can focus on is
the next thing, and focus on having the best culture
in college basketball and just being an elite players. Being
elite people come to work every day, work hard, give

(20:27):
it all, and the results will take care of themselves.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
Paid. My younger son who played at Chicago State and
played against the numerous of these players, especially Scruggs and Johnson. Anthony,
he's got a question for you, Anthony, to go ahead,
all right.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
I received how you doing. I know we actually put
we played basketball last Friday.

Speaker 4 (20:46):
Actually, yeah, a shooter right here, the shooter of the
radio station right here.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
Yeah, he is. He could shoot the ball. He's solved though,
hate me soft, just don't let.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
I met dang and to call me like yeah, to
call me out like that. Okay, I know I'm old now,
so I'm a little.

Speaker 1 (21:05):
Bit so throw the bus and you know the deal.
I under the bus. I got him by one draft pick.
You all know I'm no good, but go ahead, yeah,
but no.

Speaker 3 (21:15):
I think the biggest thing I wanted to bring up
was the addition of Mike Coel Brown, obviously the All
American you all got.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
What difference?

Speaker 3 (21:22):
In my opinion, what is the difference that you all
think he brings to the floor being able to be
that good facilitator. I think u of L needs to
make that next step going into the ACC and deeper
into the NCAA tournament.

Speaker 4 (21:33):
Well, I think Mikel what he what he brings is
his high basketball I Q. He's an amazing shooter, he's sneaky, athletic,
and just it's all around good guy that guys are
really going to gravitate towards. You know, I got a
chance to talk to Mikel a lot. You know, his dad,
got a chance to talk to his family. Comes from
a really great family, and there's just basketball junkies, right

(21:56):
They live, breathe, eat basketball, and they're just all around
great people. So what mike Kel brings to our team
is just he's going to come in as a freshman,
you know, but people are going to gravitate to his
his spirit, his basketball knowledge, and the way he's able
to see and read the game. Some of the passes
that he makes are already I would say, if you're

(22:18):
comparing him to senior basketball players in college right now,
he already sees the game that fast and every freshman's
going to go through a learning curve. But with him
hopefully that learning curve is a little shorter, and get
him in in the summer and really work on a
lot of things, you know, getting adjusted to the speed
of the game, the physicality of the game, which I
think he's going to really adjust well to. I think

(22:38):
he's a great piece to our team to have and
we're really looking forward to having him alonger being part
of a great Louisville point guard tradition exactly.

Speaker 1 (22:48):
You know, you answered my question, but I'm going to
ask it again because Chuck he was so good last year.
Let's just be honest. I didn't believe he'd be that good,
and he was really good. He was really good for
University of Do you think that Michael Brown can step
in and fill those shoes or will it have to
be done with Adrian and all of them, Ryan and
I Will all of them have to step in and

(23:09):
help there? Do you think he'll be able to step
in day one and be the point guard of the
future the next Payton see, even though he won't stay
four years, No one stay four years anymore, Peyton, But
do you think he can get it done? Nobody anymore?

Speaker 4 (23:21):
You know, it's it's hard to place those type of
expectations on anybody. You know, Chucky was an amazing point
guard and really exceeded everyone's expectations and coming in. But
you know what that being said, I think Mikel is
a tremendous player. I think Coach Kelsey really gives his
guys the ultimate freedom to really go out there, play
through mistakes, and really go out there and play with

(23:43):
that freedom. And when you have a coach that really
believes in you, unless you play through all those things,
you know, the sky's the limit. I mean, we saw
Chucky just three the year really progress, and I think
that's something that we're going to see out of Mikel.
No one's ever going to replace Chucky. I mean, Chucky's
one of a kind. Chucky's a hell of a player.
But Mikel is a special player in his own right,
and I think he's gonna step in do really fine

(24:05):
and really help us get wins, really help us go
on the right path.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
Gotch Well, Peyton, we appreciate you just taking your time
out to get up this morning to come on EVE
Sports Radio and if there's anything do you need to
get anything else out about the TVT or before we
let you go.

Speaker 4 (24:26):
Now, you covered it, man. I appreciate you just having
a son to speak about it and looking forward to
seeing all the fans there.

Speaker 1 (24:32):
You'll see me, no question, My wife and I'll be
right there on the baseline, and Anthony, you'll see the
Eaves fans. Take care, brother, continue doing great things. Man,
continue with your family, and we love you here in
the UISL. So just continue doing a great job. Take care.

Speaker 4 (24:48):
I appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
Take care. The great Peyton Siva guys, one of a kind,
really really great person. I'm just being honest with you all.
It's seven point thirty Ford is the Sports Radio. Anthony.
We're going to go to our second break, and when
we come back, we've got everything to speak about. We've
got the NBA pre draft that I want to talk about.
Cat fans will take always playing better than I expected.

(25:10):
I'm just letting you all know he is playing his
way to where Anthony. He was not on any of
the MOB drafts, but I've already made my calls. He
played really well and he's been testing really well. Easworts
Radio will talk about it more after the break. Welcome
back to Eve Sports Radio. It's seven thirty eight. It's Thursday,

(25:30):
May the fifteenth. It's payday. I just made it official
payday vacation. Everyone take off. Employers deal with it. Just
don't come to my house asking for any reimbursements. That's
all that I have to say. But it is the
fifteenth of May. So Anthony Peyton Siva, you haven't had

(25:51):
an opportunity to go to the games. You didn't tell
me you played with Peyton last week. Anthony, you didn't
tell me that.

Speaker 3 (25:58):
Yeah, I got will work out.

Speaker 1 (26:00):
You know, I got you. I got you well good.
Before Frankie's wedding, you always and played basketball. You two
are crazy. But anyway, and that's what basketball does. It
brings all families together. I mean basketball through generations, through generations.
Everyone knows everyone basketball is at all sports are, but

(26:22):
basketball is something that a lot of people can play.
All you need is a basketball. There are goals outside.
Baseball is hard to play. You need a diamond. It's expensive.
We know soccer, you can play it. Football. I mean,
that's why they're going to flag football seven on seven
because it's just hard to play. But not basketball. You

(26:42):
can play one on one, two on two, three on three.
There's just it's just so many ways to play the game.
I love the game without a doubt now, and you've
been a little critical with my man old Way, and
I'm kind of a fan. It is what it is.
I'm a fan of mar Jackson. I mean, I mean
a true fan. Everyone knows that. Dang what people say.

(27:05):
But I had no idea about old Wait went into
Kentucky last year. Anthony had no idea. I didn't know
about Oklahoma. I knew where he was from, but I
didn't know anything. That boys made me a fan. Anthony
a hard working kid. He puts a hard hat on
and he was not on any mock draft year Hunt
of us incorrect. That boy played his butt off yesterday, Anthony.

(27:26):
So everyone knows that I've been at the pre draft
the last ten years. Let me tell you, oh what happened. Nope,
I didn't run out of money and nope. Put they
didn't turn their back on me. This is what they said.
They put out a memo because they were athletic directors
from universities that were soliciting to get in. I'm talking

(27:46):
about athletic directors like Josh Hurd's and Mitchell Barnhardt's. Guys,
you understand me, big boys. So they said no, no
at all. Athletic directors were allowed into the pre draft.
So guess what. They google me for some reason, who
knows why. But I am going to call in coach Bert.

(28:07):
Now we're gonna call Adam Silva. I swear to you,
I'm going to I've just been too busy with everything.
I will be in there next year. Mark my words.
You all mark it down Today the fifteenth of May.
They said, Jerry, since you're an athletic director, you can't
come in. I said what. First time, I'm a former player.
Second thing, I'm a former coach. Third thing, I mean

(28:30):
I'd put in more than thirteen years in that NBA.
And you told me because I'm an athletic director of
a D two Christian school with absolutely I have a
golf tournament. The city of Louisville sponsors and supports the
business people. I love them. They do anything I ask
of them. My teams are two thousand dollars a team
because I need every penny to keep my sports program afloat.

(28:54):
I have people work for me for free that give
up their time, and you're telling me I can't get in.
I have no name, anthine, likeness, money, nor would I ever,
I'd shoot myself, Anthony, before I ever recruited for anybody.
Let me say that again, I'd shoot myself. They told
me no. So Anthony, instead of telling you all personally
and taking pictures with them and listening to their interviews,

(29:17):
I have to call people. Well, all I'm gonna tell
you is this always playing the two yard position, Anthony.
Everybody said, suspect jump shot, he shot the ball. Well,
they have stationary shooting drills for people that don't watch
and don't know they have stationary shooting drills. They watch them,
then they make them go through agility drills. The boy
was dynamic. He was athletic, Anthony. Tell everybody about their

(29:41):
great player Broom from Auburn, about his athleticism. Just tell
them this is funny. You all tell them, Anthony, No, no,
it is, it is.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
I mean, I don't know why that's happening, but.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
Maybe Room tell him about tell about his vertical jump.

Speaker 3 (30:07):
It's embarrassing. I'm gonna be completely that his standing vertical
was listening at twenty four and a half inches. Now
for y'all, if you don't know, there was actually a
player who went to Florida who just got drafted. It's funny.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
He's like the heaviest player in the NFL. He's the
heaviest player in college football, like almost four hundred pounds.
His standing vertical was twenty five inches. It's just like,
how is someone who doesn't really you don't really jump
that much in football, who doesn't jump, weighs four hundred pounds,
has a half inch vertical higher than somebody who was almost.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
The player of the Year at the nca last year.
And I'm not saying you gotta be jumping out like
Anthony Edwards, but twenty four and a half inches, for
those who don't know, is almost like embarrassing. I'm gonna
be compltently now. For any athlete, doesn't matter what position
you play, twenty four and a half inches standing vertical
is embarrassing.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
Yet's see what happens to Anthony. A lot of old
people listen to our show. They're old like I am,
and they would say to you, well, you know, Wes
On SLL wasn't a great athlete. Guys. You're remembering Wes
when he was a seventh, eighth, ninth year vet with
the Bullets, the Baltimore Bullets Washington now wizards. We understand, guys,

(31:24):
if you would have seen west On So in high school.
My brother Carrie has a picture of Wes n Sell
rebounding the ball in high school, both elbows above the
room from a standing jump. I watched Western Sell myself
throw the ball up on the backboard of a college gym,
jump up in the air, Anthony, tap it near the
top of the square, turn in mid air and throw

(31:46):
a bullet and hit the backboard at the other end.
I've seen it. It's not I heard about it. I've
seen it. So old people don't say it was Unsell
didn't have vertical because he did. You just remember the
old days when he beat up the NBA. He'd block
him out and he would go get the ball below
the rim. But that's not the west Son So that
played at Louisville nor at Seneca. I'm just telling you, guys,

(32:07):
the athletes that came out of Newburgh were just awesome. So, yes,
a twenty four inch vertical is embarrassing for Broom. I'm sorry.
It is what it is, Anthony. And that was comical
when you showed me that the football player, the largest
football player in the NFL draft had a higher vertical.
But anyway, Broom has some skill, Anthony. He can play.

(32:27):
He is going to find his way onto a roster.
We'll just have to see how well his career goes.
But back to Otega Aunt ten points, played really really well,
distributed the ball off the dribble, made some good decisions.
Of course, he can rebound the ball. He's toughest nails.
And if people want to watch them, they'll be playing
again today. I think it's on ESPN plus. Don't hold

(32:49):
it to me, but you'll be able to watch them.
But I think it's on ESPN Plus. I think the
games start at two fifteen and four pm. Yes I do,
so make sure if you want to watch them, you
can trust me. I will not have the doors clear
shut on me again next year. It just won't happen.
That's all there is to it. Craziness. So players are performing,

(33:09):
playing well, and we'll have to wait and see what transpires.
I just known Anthony did something. If someone knows Boogie flanned,
I got a message on mine saying, Boogie did Bookie
pull hisself out? Is he going back to college? Anthony?
For some reason, I got no message from someone saying
that where is he going to go to school. So yes,

(33:31):
of course they can go back. I just didn't know
he had declared this early that he was not gonna
leave his name in and maybe he has not. Guys,
I'm asking I'm not saying this as a fact. I'm
asking any questions. So anyway, we're at seven forty six
and we're gonna continue to move on with the show.
When we come back, you all are gonna get to
hear Rory McElroy. I love it because everyone wants golfers

(33:55):
to be, you know, mister etiquette and so nice and
so polite, and they're going to get to e Roy
say why he wasn't speaking to d Chambeau after the break.
It's the Sports Radio phone number five zero two five
seven one seventy nine hundred. We appreciate Peyton Siva for
coming on and we'll talk to you all in a minute.
Welcome back to the Sports Radio seven fifty guys. Thursday

(34:18):
to fifteenth Payday. People are sick, Shannon Anthony, people are sick.
Let me tell you what I've been getting. I want
my money from the eaves vacation holiday pay I didn't
say I was paying it. I said your employer's paying it, Shannon,
people are just sick. I want my money from the

(34:38):
Eves vacation holiday. Pay. Take that over with your boss.
I just made it I paid holiday. I didn't say
I was paying it. God Lee anyway, guys, PGA can't wait, Charlotte.
It was in Louisville last year, great excitement. Anthony and
I went out watched Tiger Wood's t off. You remember
Anthony this time last year we watched Tiger TF whole

(35:00):
in part five and put the ball dead in the
middle of the fairway, three hundred and eight yards down
three hundred eight yards, perfectly dead. Guys in the middle
of the fairway. Second shot, he sprays over in the
high rough and comes out with a bogey. Couldn't believe it.
I left after that shot, went to the airport to
go watch the pre draft. By the time I get

(35:20):
to the airport, I'm like, what happened? He bogie ten?
I'm like, bogie ten. Anyway, we're gonna listen to if
you all remember d Chambau after the Masters said that
Rory would not speak with him. He was really short,
and I want you all to hear Rory's reply, because
this is kind of how I approached the game when
I played my friends Vince Taylor and my friends Daryl Griffith,

(35:43):
Bobby Turner, and we weren't buddy buddy. I didn't approach
the game that way. So I want you to listen
to it chan and play Rory McElroy's comments about d
Shambo saying it was not nice set after.

Speaker 3 (35:56):
The final round of the Masters that you barely spoke
to him cause you so locked in.

Speaker 1 (36:00):
Just wondered your perspective.

Speaker 3 (36:02):
On that, and if you've had a chance to speak
to him since that that Sunday.

Speaker 6 (36:06):
I don't know what he was expecting. Like, I mean,
we're trying to win the Masters. I'm not gonna try
to be his best made out there. Yeah, look, we
look we everyone approaches the game different ways, and yeah,
like I I was focused on myself and what I
needed to do, and that's really all that it was.

(36:31):
You know, it wasn't anything against him or against the
just I needed. I felt that's what I needed to
do to try to get the best out of myself
that day.

Speaker 1 (36:41):
So Anthony, what do you think all this camaraderie kissing
and hugging. Yes, Magic Johnson and Isaiah Thomas kissed each
other on the cheek before they started to kill each other,
and I did, I was watching in that that's my air, Anthony,
I was playing. Then I said, gross, I did, I'm
not gonna kid you. But after that, they proceeded to

(37:02):
kill each other, I mean, honestly put in each other
on the floor on driving layups. What do you think
about this huggy, kissy attitude of today's athlete.

Speaker 3 (37:14):
I mean, I think in competitive matches, even for myself,
like I'm not I'm a competitive person. But at the
same time, I'm not gonna be sitting there hugging and
kissing you before again, that's just not gonna happen. It's
I don't know, it's just a mental thing. Just I'm
going there, I'm trying to if I'm trying to win,
I'm trying to be the best. I'm not gonna sit
there and be your friend either. It's just afterwards we

(37:34):
can talk about it. But during the show or I mean,
even during the competitive matches, no, I'm I'm that's not happening.
And I like to you know, one of my favorite players,
even though you know, rest in peace themselves, Kobe Bryant.
Kobe Bryant wasn't friends with anybody. But the thing is
everyone loved him and respected him so much for it.

Speaker 1 (37:54):
Right now, Kobe was not your friend, period, point blank.
He was Pete Rose in All Star Games. Michael Jordan
even slow down, he says, if I was you, I
would just improve, I'd little harder. That's exactly what he said, MJ. Guys.
He was out there to compete. Here's the deal. Rory
was trying to accomplish something that hopefully one day d
Chambeau will have a chance to do. Win them all,

(38:15):
the Grand Slam, win them all, and he was close.
He was in the final group of the Masters, the
most renowned in my opinion, a lot of people say
the US Open, excuse me, the British Open is the
most popular, But in my opinion, the Masters. Guys, it's
always played at the same venue. It's like Churchill Downs
and the Kentucky Derby. And Rory was trying to accomplish something.

(38:40):
And I agree with him one hundred percent. He had
choked once before, like ten years ago, and legitimately choked.
Rory was going out there trying to get it done.
He was fighting his own demons. He was not worried
about d Chambeau. That's not what he was out there
worried about it. He was worried about controlling himself, his
own emotions and making sure that he stayed the course
to the visibility. D Chambau was formidable. He's really good, guys.

(39:03):
D Chambau can win it. Bryson could win this tournament,
the PGA Championship. Right, We've got Ryan Fox one powers
is one under and Alex Noran is one under at
this moment, right this minute, so there are three people
that are one under through two. Hose Ryan Fox is
one under through two. It started at seven am if

(39:24):
you didn't know it, And there's all kinds of ways
to find where this is being played, so you can
watch it on your phone, you can watch it on television.
I know a lot of people are like, oh, why
you wanted to watch that? Because it is good. It
is a difficult, difficult sport to play, That's all I'm
saying to people. And when you say try to master it, guys,

(39:45):
I can't break ninety and I want to and I practice.
It's hard when you're playing it correctly and you're playing
as it lies and you're not rolling it, and you're
not cheating it, and you're putting all your balls in. Guys,
it's a hard sport to break one hundred. So a
lot of we're telling you I'm shooting seventy eight seventy nine.
Don't believe that garbage. If they're not college players, are

(40:07):
professional players and they're sitting there in the seventies, that
means they don't have a job. Are they're the they're
the owners of some big business to where all they
have to do is practice because there's no way it
takes too much practice. Style. But I just want to
give you all some of the matchups Anthony that we're
going to be watching. Of course, Ricky Fowler, Shane Lowry

(40:27):
and Brooks Koepka are gone out already at seven point thirty.
We've got Phil Micholson, Jason Day and Tommy Fleetwood are
going out. But the Mark the eight twenty two matchup,
Rory McElroy, Scottie Scheffler, Xanders Shoffley are all going out.
Make sure you watch it. Justin Thomas goes out at

(40:48):
one fourteen. That's our Odham count of Boy, our Odham
County Boy. And let's wish him the best. Everybody, have
a great date. God willing to be back tomorrow. Love
you all, great job, Anthony, We'll talk to you later.
And again thank you to the one and only Paytency
