Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to Eve Sports Radio. It is July the eighth,
It is a live show, twenty twenty five.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
It's Tuesday. If you didn't know it, Yes, I did
take Monday off.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
I did.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
I took Friday and Thursday off. I hope everyone had
a fantastic Fourth of July.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
I definitely did.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
I had a great picnic with family and friends on Friday,
took care of my mother the rest of the day,
Saturday and Sunday, and I had a great day at
work yesterday trying to catch up at Simmons. So I
hope everyone had a tremendous weekend, also celebrated the fourth.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
And was safe.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Now this is Eve Sports Radio for numbers five zero, two,
five seven, one, seventy nine hundred, Sports Talk seven ninety
kr D. We've got Shedning back from his vacation behind
the glass and he will be working for us like always, diligently.
We've got my younger son on the other line channel.
Let's bring Anthony Eves to the show. Anthony, how are you.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
I'm doing great this morning, you know, up and moving
as always, and we got a lot to get into.
We did take a couple of days also trying to
get back into the swing of things. But glad to
be back on the show this morning.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
I gotcha, got you.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
Yeah, you're trying to adventure into a new job service manager.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
You left my man, Billy Hayes. That's my man. You left,
Billy Man. How did you do that? Anthony? How'd you
do that? How'd you do that?

Speaker 1 (01:26):
But you took a new job as a service manager.
So congratulations with that. But you know, Billy's my man.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
We go wave. Don't tell him I'm a manager. Okay,
there you go, service advice. We were great.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Now anyway, let's get into what we have, and we've
got quite a bit. First and foremost, I think that
everyone has said prayers for all the people that we
lost in Texas. It's over one hundred and the young
people is just heartbreaking going to a summer camp and

(02:03):
what has happened to their families' lives and their lives.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
We all are very blessed to be here. I think
we all know that now.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
And again, when you get up, just make sure you
hit your knees before you hit your feet.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Again, let me repeat that, you.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Hit your knees before you hit your feet, because you
got to pray you got another day.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
And for all the families, we're praying for them.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
I want everybody again if you can try to send
money to help with all the costs and all the
things that are transpiring for a lot of the people
that lost their lives in Texas over the weekend, a
horrific accident again, flooding.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
It's really, really, really a difficult thing.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
And water is the most powerful thing in the world,
without a doubt, it will move anything. So I just
hope everyone understands again, hit your knees before you hit
your feet in the morning.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
I'm sure you say a prayer that you may have
another day. That's all. Some people are more.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
Blessed than others, no question, but but we are all
truly blessed.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
So Anthony, let's get to it, man.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
I mean, let's just go through this week so people
will understand what's going on.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
We'll be on every day this week. You and George
will carry Thursday show live.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
I will be flying to Las Vegas, Nevada. I told Shannon,
I've got a direct flight on Southwest. I'm trying not
to go through Atlanta. That's all there is to it.
When I die, I know I'm going to get stuck
in Atlanta on my way period point blank. But this
time I've got a direct southwest on Thursday morning, straight

(03:42):
to Las Vegas, Nevada for the NBA Summer League.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
I'll watch that. I spoke with Roddy and Scude mccraig.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
They're going to be out part of the Retired Players Association,
so I will see them a little bit during that time.
But that's where I'm headed, and you and George will
have Thursday, then you and I will be back gone
on Friday. We will be live all four days. So
let's just throw it to you, Anthony. We've been off
taking a vacation. Everyone needs one. I'm gonna throw it

(04:10):
to you.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
No, I'm not, No, I'm not it, not yet I do.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
I want people to know I've got Chris fourhand. Everyone
knows the pastor my my rapper pastor really good no
swear words, no cursing, nothing, just really good lyrics. He
has got a new song out and we're gonna play
that coming back out of the first break at about
seven seventeen, seven eighteen. We're gonna play the song and

(04:41):
we're gonna have Chris fourhan on with us talking about
what he's trying to do of the Stella Awards.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
He's trying to blow up Anthony. He's trying to get
big time on me.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
So we're gonna speak to him a little bit going
into that second break and what he's doing, and then
we'll get back into sports. So of course we try
to support back to the community. That's one thing I
want to do with my show. And I can't wait
to talk to Chris. He doesn't know that there's a
huge football game and son played football, Anthony, and there's
a huge football game, first game of the season. I'm

(05:12):
gonna let I'm going to tell him then that I've
got someone talking a lot of stuff to me. His
last name is Mac and their two sons are going
to play first game, Anthony. Both one went to San
Xavier and one went to Trinity, and they're both going
to play first game in college. Can't wait to talk
a little smack. So we've got that at about seven seventeen.
So now I'm gonna throw.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
It to you.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Give me a little national news, tell me what's going on,
leave the NBA, NBA and NFL out. We're going to
do that the second half of the show. But I
do want to talk a little bit about the other
sports the TBT. It's go Golf Classic that's going on.
I hate that I'm going to miss it. But a
lot of things are transpiring. So what's going on in

(05:56):
the world of sports, Anthony.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
We got a lot going on. Obviously, make me hide
off my two favorite topics. But that's okay. I guess
I'll live fly. Since we've been on, we're gonna get
gonna get the boat, We're gonna get your both. I'm
gonna get into my third favorite start off, which everybody
knows is golf. My semi professional career career is just
kicked off in golf. You know, obviously I'm getting a

(06:20):
little older, so I gotta do a little bit more
non contact sports in golf is the funniest sport and
the most frustrating sport of the planet. For those who've
already played, you already know this. This is self explanatory.
Golf make you want to three your clubs in the
trash can, then also makes you want to go out
and buy a five hundred dollars putter. So it's by
psychological game so true.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
I mean, that's so true.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
Your three clubs away and walk straight into one of
the golf galaxies, one of.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
The new TV uh TVC things that we have in
the city, and buy a five hundred dollars.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
It will do both of them to you in the
same day, which is amazing, just amazing.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
It's crazy. But I did want to get into obviously
the John Deere Classic. Obviously that's a big one that
we do have coming up this weekend July third through
the sixth. Just finished, just finished, apologize, it did just finish.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
I'm I said, coming up.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
This is what happens when you take too many days
off of don't don't, don't, don't all vacation. But no,
obviously that did go on the Under Classic. We also
still have Wimbledon going on for the men's and woman's
singles and doubles, which is obviously the hot topic that's
going on right now. Carlos A. Karez will be playing
later on this afternoon, actually later on this morning at

(07:39):
ten am against Charles Nori, so he's the ranked number two.
Old time. The Yoni Center match yesterday, I was kind
of watching up and just keeping up some statists, some
of the statistics yesterday, and it was a weird ending
I'm still not one hundred percent sure how they decided that.
So I think that Gio Dimitri retired. So he was
up six three in the first set, won the first

(08:02):
then he won the second set seven to five. They
got into the third set, which the men's is the
best three out of five, right, and it was tied
up two to two, and I think he just retires himself.
I don't know if it was from maybe from exhaustion
or if it was from injury. I am not one
hundred percent sure the case. But Janick Center ended up
winning that match, even though he technically didn't win one
set going into there in round four playing in center court.

(08:24):
So Yannick Center does advance, I say advanced by default
because he was technically he was losing. He was he
was definitely in the passage or see when it came
that match, but you know, you know, sometimes you just
need a little luck on your side. So he is
advancing as well. Blake Shlton did advance as well. Who
is our American that is driving forward right now? He
won four sets.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
Novak Jokins did.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
Win a tough match to gets Alex de Minor. He
won that three four as well. They both did lose
their first set exactly, which is which is very not
even surprising, but it's been a trend a lot lately.
The ones that usually are winning these matches currently are
the ones that have been losing the first set that
kind of see not everyone, but a lot of them

(09:07):
have and it's just kind of, you know, it's kind
of going down farther down the line. How is that
gonna play out? Going farther into the tournament. I still
like Alcara is my favorite. I just like him. I
like Blake Sheldon a lot too. I just think he
has a couple more things to learn under his belt
before he gets to that next step of being an
Alcarez or Yokic. But he is younger than all of them,

(09:29):
and he is on the Cus line. So I always
like rooting for our Americans as well. I know Cocoa
Golf still went out in the first round. The woman's
side of the singles woman did, which would hurt to
see because she got blown out. I know, we talked
about it last week. So I watched the woman's sides
for all the ladies out there, don't kill me, Yes,
I actually do like watching the woman's tennis but I

(09:49):
do like watching Cocoa Golf, and she kind of got elimonade,
so they kind of It will set me back a
little bit watching the women's tennis as much, but I
still do and I don't. One now I can hate
her and say, oh, I only watched woman's tennis because
of one person. No, but it's about fifty fifty. I'm
just gonna be completely honest. It's about fifty to fifty
when it comes to that. But there's still all for

(10:11):
the lady's side. It's the majority of the favorites are
still in the tournament and they still will be playing
today and throughout the rest of the week. So the
competitors nature is still high. It's still high even without
Cocoa Golf playing in it. So still a want to
look forward to. My mom loves Washington. I come home
from work and she's in the sunroom washing tennis. She
always gets mad at me because she has a pre

(10:32):
recorded and so she doesn't see the master because all
the matches they play in the morning. It's because of
the time difference. And I came in. I keep on
telling her who wondered, who didn't want until she gets bad.
She hasn't watched it, and I keep up with this stuff,
you know, on my lunch break or through and break,
but I always look at scores on my phone. That's
like my side how so everybody knows that I'm the

(10:53):
sports guy at work, so I'm always keeping everyone updated
from trades, free agency signings, NFL season productions coming up
obviously this season, and something I will be personally doing.
We'll be cooking up a couple of some parladies later
on this year between college football, college basketball, and NFL.

(11:15):
So if you might want to win or possibly lose
the money, don't blame me, but we will be doing
that later on.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
Don't blame me.

Speaker 4 (11:24):
Don't blame me, give me a projection. I'm not one
hundred percent and we know that. So that's a fact, is.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
What we have.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
Yes, a lot of great tennis. We know Wimbledon's going on.
It goes on for about a two week period. That's
the only problem. It's so long, there's so many players,
but it's a great tournament. Make sure that you're watching that,
and we'll continue to watch Shelton and hopefully he can
continue to progress. So, Anthony, we're at seven sixteen on
State of task. Like I said, Chris Fourhan should be

(11:57):
calling in or if he has not already, let me know.
And when he does, well, we're going to get to break.
It's his EVE Sports Radio one VERUS five zero two
seventy nine hundred. Even if Chris is not on the
line with us, we're going to come back with his
song so that you'll get a chance.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
To hear it.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
It is really good. We'll talk to you all after
the break. It is seven twenty one. I've got Anthony
Eves on the other line, and I do want people
to know your first day back. I did inform Chris
beforehand to call me at seven forty five, So we're
gonna hold the song until closer to when he will
be calling in and we'll discuss it then.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
So we're just going to continue pushing.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
So here's what.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
We've got, Anthony. We've got a ton of football and basketball.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
We know the football season is about to begin. I
think the NFL training camp start the.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
End of July. College football is right around the corner.
Cardinals are looking good.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
I've got quite a few of my Kentucky fans that
are a little nervous about their football program, not basketball.
But football program, so we're going to be getting into that.
I've been starting to collect all my notes as that
aspect of getting ready for that. But we want to
just start first and foremost with what I'm gonna be doing,
and Anthony, I'm gonna be leaving Erzy to go to

(13:12):
this NBA Summer League, which I go almost every year,
and what we do great, Okay, good, So Anthony, what
we're gonna do? I was gonna, well, we've got my
man on and we're gonna bring Chris fourhand on.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
And I do want people to know that I misled Chris.
I told him seven forty five, so that's why he's
just a little late. Even though he's not late. I
was the one that was wrong. Chris. Welcome to the show.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
How are you hey? What's good morning? Jerry Eves just
glad to be on the show this morning. E Sports
get the last kid off to the University of Louisville
next month and going to be in the marching band.
So you're gonna see me at some games this year,
football and basketball. So perhaps from my son Josiah just

(13:55):
turned eighteen and he's gonna be a University of Louisville
guy like Jerry.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
Well, congratulations, congratulations on that.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
But before we get into it, and Shannon's trying to
load your song as soon as you've got it, okay, Shanny,
you tell me are you ready to let to play
it now? Shannon, let's play it. We're gonna go straight
to Chris Fourhand's song. Let's play it, Shannon, Thank you, Shannon.
That's really nice, really really really nice. Well, Chris Flow,

(14:25):
I should call you by your professional name. Congratulations on
that song. I listened to it yesterday. It's really really good.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
I'm gonna load it on my media for people to
be able.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
To listen to it. And of course everyone knows there's
no swear in our cursing. And Chris flows songs. He's
been doing this. He's been a pastor for a long
time and we're getting things. So Chris Flow, let's just start.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
What are you trying to do?

Speaker 1 (14:48):
You've got a new song out, You've got aspirations to
get to the Is it the Stellar Awards.

Speaker 4 (14:53):
Is what you told me?

Speaker 3 (14:54):
Yes, Stell Awards in Nashville.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
What's going on?

Speaker 3 (14:57):
Yes? The Stell Awards is like the Gospel Grammys this
year it's going to be in Nashville. Last year was
in Las Vegas. Still awards. Like I said, it's the
Gospel Grammys. And the good thing about this year, we
didn't get to that portion of the song. But one
of the last rappers and singers on that song is
a guy by the name of Canton Jones. That hell's

(15:17):
out of Atlanta, Georgia. Canton happens to be nominated for
Gospel Hip Hop Artists of the Year. His album is
Artist of the Year. So I'm trying to get down
there on that red carpet with that Canton Jones and
what it does. It's really a little harder for gospel artists.
And what I mean by harder is it's hard for

(15:39):
us to get the mainstream eyes owners a lot of people.
One of the headlines in Christian rap is a guy
by the name of Lacree. He's doing really, really well.
But you want to get to these shows and these
awards shows, and it costs money. You know. I don't
have a big budget. I'm an independent record company. My

(16:00):
record label is Beforehand Records and have a new website
also Chris flow Official dot com. But you want to
get to these award shows so you can get your
music out and I do music in ministry via way
of rap to get to get to the younger listeners.
You know, they you you a lot of times. You know,

(16:22):
they're not gonna listen to the older gospel. They listen
to rap music. Rap is a billion dollar industry and uh,
you know, just to get the streams and get the
word out. Uh, I need to be at those Stellar Awards.
So I'm doing a fundraiser, you know. Uh, like I said,
my website is Chris Flow official dot com. My cash

(16:44):
app is a dollar sign c F L O W
three two and you could go to the website and
donate R I can give you my information to leave
my information with Jerry and you could donate, or you
could call me directly. Uh, I'm not an the cover pastor.
My direct number is five O two four five seven

(17:05):
four eight four zero. My church is City of God
Church at sixteen sixty West Hill Street, the Church on
the Hills. So we're just doing these type of things
it you know, like you said, I'm not trying to
get rich. It's a ministry that I do. Gospel music
is a very influential music, been around forever. I mean,

(17:27):
it's done most churches, but the effective way to reach
the young people and to reach the younger generation is
by via rap. So you know, I have a couple
of songs that I've done, songs Curtis Blow. I'm gonna
try to get down to Cincinnati and bump into ol
couj in July twenty sixth, twenty seventh, that's the Cincinnati

(17:47):
Jazz Festival. So, you know, just still in the influence
in the hip hop and influenced by hip hop and
just trying to help some young people and try to
deliver the word of God to them by the way
of rap. So that's what we're doing. Like I said,
my website is chrys Flowofficial u dot com and we're

(18:08):
doing some stuff. We're doing a back to school thing
at the library on August the second. I gotta get
my don King gone, Jerry uh. August the second, We're
going to back to school event at the Free Public
Library over on Fourth Street. So I use the music
and the platform to still be like kind of cool
with the kids, and the kids like to hear me

(18:28):
rap and they like the way I deliver the rap
and all that type stuff. And uh, you know, the
Stell Awards is gonna have a celebrity basketball game, and
I'm gonna be able to perform at the celebrity basketball
game as well as have a table and to be
able to rub rub some mailbows with the Kirk Franklins
and the Donny mcclerkins of the world. And just trying

(18:50):
to get the music out abroad in Nashville, you know,
short trip, but that's what we're doing.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
I'll be your first giver. I'm gonna donate two hundred
dollars to help it. Than you get to the Still Awards,
and again you've given out your information. The show will
be loaded so that people will be able to go back.
You gave them a lot of information before we go.
I have them give it to them either give it
to them one more time. You need to slow it
down the presentation though, so that people will be able

(19:19):
to get your telephone number or your cash app wherever
you're having to.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
Collect the money.

Speaker 1 (19:24):
But I would hope to be able to achieve your goals.
I'd like to see that your music is inspirational without
a doubt and wishing you the very very very best.
So I'm a friend giver. We'll just get together. I'm
not much for the cash app. You'll just have to
come by the office and I'll write your check.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
Still, I know where you work.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
You work around the corner. Well, I really appreciate Let
me say, let me say this about you, and I
really appreciate you. And this is not I'm not blowing smoke.
It's guys like you that's in the community. I was
telling my son as I was teaching him yesterday, when
when I was growing up, I looked up to you, Jerry's,
Darryl Griffith, all you type of guys. And it's awesome

(20:06):
to round my circle around my wagon, to be able
to do the community things with you and also to
be able to network with you. And that's what it's
all about.

Speaker 4 (20:17):
You know.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
It's like I said, I'm not trying to get rich,
but when you can get the help from the iconic
folks that's in the community, that's what builds community. And
I appreciate that. I appreciate your show and all of that,
you know, and all the things that you do for
Simmons Bible College and what you do over there with
those guys as an athletic director. So I'm grateful, and

(20:39):
like I said, once again, let me slow it down,
I wrap, I talk fast. But it's Chris slowofficial dot com.
That's chrisflowofficial dot com. And at the bottom of the
page it's my cash app. And my cash app is
dollar Sign C flow three to two, So that's dollar
Sign c fl o W three to two or you

(21:03):
kid call me at five oh two, four five seven
or eight four zero. And I really appreciate Jerry, what
you're doing and what you're doing in the community.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
Here's the deal, Chris, before I let you go at
seven thirty one, we're gonna give for a second break.

Speaker 2 (21:19):
There's a gentleman I know you know who is. His
last name is mac Children.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
Mac Stay is my insurance agent. He's got my homemann. Yeah,
he saved me a ton of money.

Speaker 2 (21:33):
He saved me a ton of money. But he let
me know that you all's two sons are going to
be playing Opening Night. I think yeah, is it at
Center College this year?

Speaker 3 (21:45):
I think it is of Center College. But here's what
he don't know. My son's not playing this year because
he's uh, you know, he's just yeah, he's not playing
this year. He had another year, but he chose not
to uh, because he's supposed to graduate, uh class in
twenty twenty one. But he's gonna concentrate on his studies
and work. And but last year he did win a

(22:06):
Division three Bowl game. But Sheldon Mack is the enemy
from Lexington, Kentucky, and uh, you know, our sons did
play it. Our sons did play at Trinity High School together.
But now he's back to the enemy again because he's
uh you know, he's at Center College and uh and
he's still rooting for ye Sheldon's Uh. Mister Mac is

(22:28):
a really good uh good guy. I love those uh
you know, watching his son play over the years. And
I heard his voice. I think I think mister Mac
got a rap voice. I heard him on that commercial.
They gotta get him on one of those rap songs.
You got rap? Tell him I want to get him
on the next song's potential. Yeah, it's potential.

Speaker 2 (22:49):
Chris reappreciate you. Your song is excellent.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
I will play it again at the end of the show.
Thank you about another and thank you for coming on
the sports radio.

Speaker 4 (22:58):
Well, thank you, Jerry, and thank you, thank you.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Brother Bye bye.

Speaker 1 (23:02):
At seven thirty two, We've got to get to break
when we come back. We're gonna find out either YOURBA
or nay. No one's a bigger Lamar Jackson fan than
Jerry Eves. But we're gonna find out where you stand
after the break. Welcome back to EAVE Sports Radio seven
thirty five.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
Yes, it is July the eighth, twenty twenty five. It's Tuesday.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
You should be halfway to work if you need to
be there at eight o'clock. Of course does NFL. My
favorite sport, Anthony is right around the corner. And I
was listening to some social media watching and going through
my social media platforms and I saw this interview. So Shannon,
please play this interview and say, gentlemen telling Lamar Jackson,

(23:45):
no more excuses, and I want you all's opinion on it.

Speaker 3 (23:48):
Play it for.

Speaker 5 (23:48):
Me, and I'll say this, Lamar Jackson, no.

Speaker 6 (23:52):
Excuses now, no excuses, bro, because you've got a damn.

Speaker 5 (23:56):
Good roster, one of the best rosters in the NFL.

Speaker 6 (24:00):
If you're that guy that they say that you are
get it done this season, it is super bowler bust.
You got Jay Year, Alexander, you got Malachi Starks, Kyle Hamilton,
Marlon Humphrey. That is by far the best secondary in
the league. You have a phenomenal run defense man, and
you got Mike Green, who is a top seventeen, top

(24:23):
fifteen talent, in the first round.

Speaker 5 (24:26):
Y'all got him in the second round. How y'all do that?
I don't know y'all did it, but y'all did it.

Speaker 6 (24:31):
He had the off field issues, but regardless, I was
surprised he dropped that load of y'all.

Speaker 5 (24:36):
That's a steal, and so Lamar.

Speaker 6 (24:38):
Offensively, you got the best tight end tandem in the
NFL by a long shot, Mark Andrews Isaiah likely. You
got Derrick Henry, a first ballot Hall of Famer, Zay
Flowers an emerging star, and you got Rashaw Bateman coming off.

Speaker 5 (24:55):
A career year as the wide receiver.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
Two.

Speaker 5 (24:58):
It's no excuses, brother, Well, guys, Anthony.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
I'm gonna throw it to you.

Speaker 1 (25:06):
Everyone knows that Troder brother is a huge, a huge
Ravens fan. Everyone knows I'm a huge Lamar fan. I'm
not a huge raven fan. I'm a huge Lamar fan.
So I kind of like the Ravens because I pulled
for Lamar, But I'm not a Baltimore Ravens fan. I'm
not everybody says I changed my license plate, but I

(25:26):
do not. So your opinion is it super Bowl bust?

Speaker 2 (25:31):
Bottom line?

Speaker 1 (25:32):
What does Lamar have to do, Anthony to solidify his legacy.

Speaker 4 (25:38):
Of you know what, I wouldn't say so much super
Bowl or bus because that's that's hard to say. In
the NFL, quarterbacks have been winning super Bowls later in
their careers more and more as we've been watching football
going over the last decade and a half. So just
because he's not winning one before thirty, or he's not
winning one, even if he doesn't win this season, it's
not necessarily over for him. I think the reason why

(26:00):
people say that a lot is because more so of
his play style. I think that plays in a bigger
factor because the one the quarterbacks that have one super
Bowl late in their careers are a lot more throw
heavy quarterbacks. And I hate to say it, when it
comes to throw a certain passage and even the sense
they're a little bit more accurate, But they some of
them get a little bit more accurate later on in

(26:21):
their careers. So I'm not gonna necessarily throw Lamar under
the buzz for that case. I do love Lamar, but
he does show signs to where he kind of throws
it a little wayward. His decision making has gotten a
little bit better over the last couple of years, So that.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
Makes it possible lot better, a lot better, a lot better. Yes,
I mean, and I know.

Speaker 4 (26:40):
And he says this about Lamar saying that he has
the best team. It's funny that he only named defense.
That's kind of fun fact you're throwing out there, this guy.
He said, you name a great secondary, a great run defense.
Obviously you have a great run game with Derrick Henry.
But I know, but same time, the run game can't

(27:01):
be everything. Your offense is predicated off. It can't be
RPOs and handoffs to Derrick Henry. You gotta have some
throw game. And I hate to say it, the Ravens
have lacked in throwing game over the last couple of years.
Their wide receivers has not been that good. You know,
before they traded Marquise Brown, he was pretty better.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
One.

Speaker 4 (27:18):
Rashaw Bateman was kind of he was in and out
with injuries on and off. Mark Andrews had a down
year last season. He was dropping a lot of passes.
But he's still Mark Andrews.

Speaker 2 (27:29):
I like him one of the best yeah, I'm not
gonna throw Mark.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
At the same time, even outside he the only person
that has really won a Super Bowl without just an
over the top wide receiver is Patrick Mahons, and he
won with Travis Kelsey, who was the best tight end
in the NFL at the time. But Patrick Patrick Mahons
didn't have a crazy wide receiver court either. But at
the same time, I hate to say that Patrick Mahomes
is better than the.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
Exactly no, no question, not Anthony, that Patrick Mahomes is
the best, no question. Now he got demolished Philly demolished
his team, but him putting them in the Super Bowl
was an accomplishment.

Speaker 2 (28:07):
Patrick Mahomes is the best period, point blank. He is
the goat this era. Tom Brady's the best all time,
but Lamar is very good.

Speaker 1 (28:18):
And this is what I want people to understand. I
agree with the young man. I'm fifty one forty nine
Anthony fifty one percent. I'm still saying Lamar's got more
to give forty nine percent.

Speaker 2 (28:31):
Yes, no more excuses.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
The last year when they added the one and only
Derrick Henry, I was really saying, Okay, you've got enough
to get it done, and Derick Henry was still at
top flight nineteen hundred and twenty one yards last year, okay,
nineteen hundred and twenty one.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
His passing game.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
They've improved, Flowers has improved, Bateman has improved, but they're
still not the duo of the Cincinnati Bengals are other
teams they're not, so I'm not to let people say
that they're not, and everyone knows they're not.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
But they're improving. Period.

Speaker 1 (29:05):
They are getting better. Mark Andrews, other than Kelsey, is
in the top three tight ends in the game. He's
really good.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
Forget the last drop, forget.

Speaker 1 (29:14):
That he's still really I'm not throwing him under the bus.
Here's what I want people to know. With Lamar Jackson. Yes,
now that they do have numerous players, of course, the
young man I mentioned. Zaya Alexander from University of Louisville
played with Lamar, and I'm glad for him, but I
just want people to know the last four seasons he's

(29:36):
missed half the games. So before we beat our chest,
the last four seasons for Ziyar Alexander, that's why he's
out at Green Bay anymore.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
They were paying him too much. He wasn't playing, so.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
Let's just make sure that they're all playing before we
say it's a bus season.

Speaker 2 (29:52):
That's all I'm saying. Let's make sure that they stay
on the field.

Speaker 1 (29:56):
But Lamar Jackson has he seventy four and twenty nine
the Ravens are when he's the starting quarterback. He's three
and five in the playoffs. He has been to the
AFC Championship in twenty twenty four, one game from the
Super Bowl, one game from the Super Bowl, and of
course Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 2 (30:16):
Took care of business.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
He's been to three or four divisionals twenty four, twenty one,
and twenty. He's been the numerous wild cards. Of course
we know that, but he's three and five. I would
have liked to have seen that five and three. I'm
just I'm a fair person when it comes to evaluating.
But I am gonna say this one thing to everyone
that jumps on me about Lamar. When that boy came

(30:42):
out of college at Louisville, nobody would ever said any
of these things, any of these things. They would say
he was never going to be a starting quarterback, period,
point blank.

Speaker 2 (30:50):
I'm not letting people off. So yes, it's time for Lamar. Now,
who I believed in to go ahead and get it done.

Speaker 1 (30:58):
It's important to do it. Darryl Griffin had to do it.
Everyone has that, Michael Jordan had to do it. You
have to do it. You have to win one, period
point blank. You have to win one. So and I'm
not taking that responsibility off Lamar Jackson, but all I'm
saying to all my Lamar Jackson critics, when that boy
came out of college, no one would have set any

(31:21):
of these numbers. Two time MVP, one of the most
accurate quarterbacks for a season ever, Anthony, let me say
that to you again.

Speaker 2 (31:29):
Ever. And that NFL guys, the NBA, I played.

Speaker 4 (31:34):
In that league.

Speaker 1 (31:36):
You got to throw off games they don't play. Sometimes
they play, sometimes they don't. Regular season is a box
of chocolates.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
Not that NFL.

Speaker 1 (31:45):
Mark Clayton is going to come on the show and
tell you they're trying to take your head off every game,
period point blank. So Lamar, I'm excited for the season, Anthony.
I do want to see him get it done. I
do want to see less turn less is more. If
everyone remembers last year at the end, I criticized Lamar

(32:07):
not because he played super in the second half gut
super But he has to understand less is.

Speaker 2 (32:12):
More Denny Crumb's philosophy, Less Anthony is more. He's gonna
have to let his team help him. He can't try
to be Superman. This is not that Nintendo game that
you play, Anthony. It's real football.

Speaker 1 (32:26):
They're out there hitting and their pro players also, He's
got to let his team help him.

Speaker 2 (32:30):
But this is a year that I would like to
see him guide his team.

Speaker 1 (32:34):
Now, one thing I'm gonna tell you the Dallas Cowboys
got a tough stretch, but I'm telling you the Baltimore Ravens.
Their schedule is incredible. Guys, listen to this before we
go to break Anthony. They open up at Buffalo, They've
got Cleveland at home. They've got Detroit, who I thought

(32:54):
before the injuries was a Super Bowl champ.

Speaker 2 (32:57):
I didn't think it would be Philly. I thought it
would be Detroit. Detroit. Week three, Kansas City.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
That's Patrick Mahomes. I don't wantnybody to get it twisted.
Patrick Mahomes is better than Labar Jackson, don't. I don't
wan anybody that ever say I said that, No question.
Week four, Houston, Week five, LA Week six, the Rams.

Speaker 2 (33:19):
So, guys, football's here.

Speaker 1 (33:21):
It's all I can tell you. September seventh, It's own
Ravens at Buffalo eight twenty pm on NBC. Guys will
be the most watched that week, I guarantee you. And
let's get the break at seven forty seven. When we
come back, we're gonna talk a little bit about this NBA.
Welcome back to Edist Sports Radio seven point fifty ten

(33:43):
minutes from eight o'clock.

Speaker 2 (33:44):
You should be there.

Speaker 1 (33:45):
You should be fixing your coffee at your desk, getting
ready to go to work.

Speaker 2 (33:49):
So welcome back to e Sports Radio. Anthony.

Speaker 1 (33:53):
All I'm asking you is this, how does Balanchero sign
a two hundred and thirty nine million dollar rookie Max deal?

Speaker 2 (34:02):
How they even won a playoff series? That's what do
you have they? That's what are your duties? Just tell
me how does that work?

Speaker 4 (34:12):
Well, you're about to answer one of your own questions
because we just talked about last week with the salary
cast that these teams have to pay somebody, and the
man Carroll is the best team and he is the
face of their franchise, So why would you not pay
him to supermax? Who else would you pay.

Speaker 1 (34:26):
I don't know, but I wouldn't have paid him two
thirty nine as he's gotta win a playoff series for me.
But I guess you're right. They must spend the money.
I am the one who brought that to your attention.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
But godly million.

Speaker 4 (34:41):
The thing is, that's not that's not even the huge
contract anymore. T thirty nine million. I'm still paying that.
If you're trying to get to the point where your
team is winning playoff series and winning games, you have
to spend money. You can't go out there and pay
every player ten million year and expect to make a
push in the playoffs. You have to pay to play
now to be in the NBA. And that's true. If
you don't want jess big contraction salaries for the real players,

(35:03):
you're not gonna compete. You're gonna go out there and
lose and get blown out every single night.

Speaker 2 (35:07):
And I got a question for you, any I got
a question for you. Okay, they do. They must spend
the money. There's a salary cap. They must spend it.
One hundred and fifty million, one hundred and fifty four
million this year. It must be spent. I agree with you,
but I got a question for all.

Speaker 1 (35:23):
My NBA lovers, And of course I am an alumni
and I'm going out, but I'm upset with the state
of the game.

Speaker 2 (35:30):
The Lakers just sold, the Bucks have been have just.

Speaker 1 (35:34):
Sold Junior bridgemand two years ago the Celtics sold after
winning the Championships, the Championship, the Trail Blazers have sold,
Michael Jordan's sold, the Hornets. I'm talking about the last
five years. The Mavericks have sold. Got me after going
to the finals, Anthony, hmm. All I'm saying to people

(35:55):
is this, Yes, astronomical money is being spent billion dollars
on the Lakers, Okay, But I mean when the housing market.
I live here in the southerns we know it's strong
because there are not a lot of houses up on
the market, but the NBA of late, a lot of

(36:17):
owners have been coming out. I think they're getting leery
of these large contracts. I'm not saying they are, Anthony,
and I know that they they have crazy money. Steve
Balmer's and those guys have money. I mean, it's funny money.
But still, when you have these many teams that are
selling in the last four or five years, that's letting
you know something. It usould be hard to get, but

(36:38):
right now NBA teams are for sell every year multiples,
So you think these contracts may have something to do
with that?

Speaker 2 (36:46):
Do you think?

Speaker 4 (36:51):
I believe they definitely play a factor. But you know what,
I don't know all the insider on that. I don't know.
The NBA is just a tough business right now. It
produces a lot of money, but the numbers have been
down lately, so it's a lot of people do they
want to keep investing in dumbing money into a business
that the numbers wise has kind of been dying off
over the last two decades.

Speaker 1 (37:12):
And American has an American has that's a fact. Not worldwide,
but dang, it's an American sport. It's held in the
United States. I know George loves to say the world.
I like the world also, but still it's held in
the United States. And now I do know and I
want people to understand. We'll be meeting on it this
week in Las Vegas. That they're talking about going international.

(37:34):
They're looking to move teams to Manchester, They're looking at London,
they're looking at putting NBA franchises overseas.

Speaker 3 (37:41):
Guys.

Speaker 1 (37:41):
So I think that they're seeing that they need to
expand their market, which the NBA has done a tremendous
job of. But I would still love to see the
base America that's basketball. Come on, Anthony started here, Peach baskets,
come on right here. I'd like to see it start

(38:01):
to improve its ratings again. I'd like to see the
people be interested in watching it again. And I'd like
for the players to understand how important it is for
the people in America to.

Speaker 2 (38:11):
Want to watch them.

Speaker 1 (38:12):
That's my only issue and that I don't get from
my counterparts, my colleagues.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
It's my league, my colleagues, and I'm just being a
little critical.

Speaker 1 (38:21):
I think they've taken the money for granted, and sometimes
they're a little arrogant about the way they present themselves. Anthony,
and I think that it's starting to hurt their ratings here.

Speaker 2 (38:31):
So that's all.

Speaker 1 (38:32):
But yes, boy, Anthony Rodney McCray, and he was at
the airport in Louisville yesterday.

Speaker 2 (38:40):
He and Scooter just come back and taking care of
their mother in New York.

Speaker 1 (38:44):
He was flying to Houston. Then he's going to fly
to Las Vegas, he says. Jerry Can you believe how
much money they're given to these guys, I said Rodney.
When I was coaching in the league, I couldn't believe it.
Now now it's straightman. This is monopoly money, Anthony, that
they're earning. It's monopoly money. You're going to soume chay gelligs.

(39:08):
Alexander is close to making a million dollars a game.
And then come on, Magic Johnson satnday contract Anthony in
nineteen eighty three eighty four, twenty five million over twenty
five years, and I sat on the bus with Ricky
Green and Daryl Griffith and said, the league has gone crazy.

Speaker 3 (39:31):
Hear.

Speaker 2 (39:31):
I mean, let me say it to you again. Twenty
five million for twenty.

Speaker 1 (39:34):
Five years, and we lost our minds as players. I
was a player then, and now look at it now, Anthony,
Come on, man, twenty five million was no money.

Speaker 2 (39:44):
Y'all weren't wrong?

Speaker 4 (39:45):
Like twenty five million dollar contract over twenty five years.
I would. I don't even know if that wasn't necessarily
a good thing or a bad thing, but a twenty
five year contract alone is crazy.

Speaker 2 (39:54):
It's crazy, but it did, Antony.

Speaker 1 (39:56):
They were just trying to give him bus was trying
to lock him up long term, Anthony. We thought that
was crazy. So and let you know how the game
has evolved. David Stern did a tremendous job of selling
this league. It is continuing to be profitable. But I
still say the ratings in America stink. That's just the facts.

Speaker 2 (40:15):
They stink.

Speaker 1 (40:16):
So now tell me something else. So we've got which
we're gonna touch tomorrow. We're gonna get into all the games.
I've already got charted out Kentucky. We've got Williams, We've
got Brea, We've got Butler, we've got Robinson. Shephard is
even playing. And so it's Dillingham on the Louisville side.

(40:37):
I've got Chuckie, Hepburn. I'm gonna see Rin Smith Edwards.
I'm gonna watch with the Bucks. I can't wait to
get the Las Vegas to watch these guys start their
next career and cheer them all. So we're gonna talk
about those matchups in those games, and you get to work.
This is Eve Sports Radio, guys, God Willing, I'll be
back tomorrow. But again, I want to say that in

(40:59):
all sincere, God Willing will all be back tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (41:02):
Talk to you, then bye bye
