Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to EVE Sports Radio. It is seven o five.
It is Thursday, July the seventeenth, twenty twenty five. This
is Eve Sports Radio. Phone numbers five zero two five
seventy nine hundred. That's five zero two five seven one
seventy nine hundred Sports Talk seven ninety KRD. Hope everyone

(00:23):
had a tremendous Wednesday. I was busy. I did got
a super busy Thursday in front of me. So I've
got to have a quality day's work today on Simmons,
on EVE Sports Radio and at Simmons College. So let's
get this off in Rowman first and foremost. I have
to say this, Anthony before I bring on Anthony. I'm
gonna bring you on, Anthony, but I have to say this.

(00:45):
I was just going through my computer at the last
second before the show to just make sure I hadn't
missed anything. Anthony. You know the world's going crazy. Bradlee Bill.
Everyone knows. Bradlee Bill played for the Phoenix Suns with
Devin Booker who I forgot his name yesterday and Kevin Durant.
Could not reach the playoffs. Anthony. They waived him, they

(01:08):
cut him, and they owe him one hundred and eleven
million still owed on his contract he signed with the Clippers,
or he will sign with the Clippers when he clears
waivers for eleven million dollars a two year deal twenty
two million bucks, which means now the Sons will come
off the hook back to ninety million. Anthony, Come on, man,

(01:29):
how you cut a person you owe one hundred eleven
million dollars too? He must be off way, Anthony, is
Bradley built any good at all? He's I mean, and
they cut him and said bye, we'll give you one
hundred and eleven million to leave. How bad is that?

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Yeah? He hasn't really even been good since the Wizards.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Even on the Wizards.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
It's hard to evaluate someone's real skill on such a
bad team. I mean, he could score on the Wizards.
I won't give him credit on nap. On the Suns,
he was horrible, and the playoff games even worse.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Exactly the Sons let him know. They signed Devin Booker
to two year, one forty five. They kept Devin and
they cut Bradley Beal and owed one hundred and eleven
million dollars. I guess they just told him. It's a
crazy world, Anthony, All I know is God Mama had
me too early. I should be mad at my mother upstairs. Anthony.

(02:21):
The money is crazy. But anyway, welcome to the show,
young fellow. Hope you're gonna have a great day. I
know you're busy, but we've got a lot to get into,
Anthony before we hit national news. And of course we've
got the TBT this weekend. Guys, we've got the Open,
which I'm watching right now. The Open. It's going on.
If you don't know anything about golf, it's the last

(02:42):
major and it's about to start storming. Anthony. They said
they'll get ready to get a thunderstorm that people wouldn't believe.
So I can't wait. That's the whole thing about the Open,
the carnage, the wind, the rain. You all have seen
it before they play if there's no light, I mean,
they play, so Anthony, I can't wait. It's gonna be
carnage soon. So anyway, I'll let you give those scores

(03:06):
we're going to get into and still stay with the
top ten quarterbacks. We really didn't get past the top four.
We didn't because of all the controversy. We haven't. I
like our top four. I think those four are for
the best quarterbacks ever in the NFL. They can really play.
So I've got some interesting information on that, But we
didn't touch Dak Prescott not being in the top ten.

(03:29):
I want to get your opinion on that a few
other things. But so we've got a lot. But the
key to today's show, Anthony, the key is that I've
been telling people for years, this is the reason you
should listen to EVE Sports Radio. I'm gonna tell you
the truth. I'm gonna tell you before everybody else tells you.
You're gonna know. And right now, college football there's a

(03:52):
little war between the SEC and the Big ten. They
are the big dogs, and I'm going to explain to
people what's going on. M's transpiring with his college football playoffs.
College football is right around the corner. These paid games
you're gonna give Indiana's paid games. I'm gonna talk about
Louisville and Kentucky's paid games that are gonna go away soon, Anthony,

(04:13):
They're gonna go away. It's gonna become very competitive, really
really soon, which is how it should be. I mean,
it's how it really should be. So anyway, the best
of the best should rise to the top. So we
got a lot to get into, but I'm gonna throw
it to you first and let you well you know, no, no,
I'm not Anne. I I've been debating this back and forth,

(04:34):
back and forth, back and forth. But as you came down,
I'm not gonna say his name. But I got a
really close friend of mine, really close friend of mine
that's going through his second bone marrow transplant in the
last three months. And you know, we're always telling people
look at the bright side, making sure you get up

(04:55):
on the right side of the bed, get up with
a good attitude. It could always be worse. Well, you know,
you hurt me, And we're not gonna say his name, Anthony,
But I was talking to him always. I give him,
I mean, I give him more grief than the law allows.
But again, guys, we've got it pretty good. And as
long as you can get up, get all your faculties,
have your balance, you can walk, you can talk, put

(05:18):
a smile on somebody else's face, because it can be worse.
You could get that call tomorrow. I could get that
call tomorrow. We don't know what our lives in store
for us in the future, but we do know what
the present is today. So it's always say it's a

(05:38):
it's the present, which is a present. Make sure put
a smile on somebody's face at work today. That's all
I'm saying. Do a great day's work. We're gonna do
that on today's show. So anyway, I'm gonna thought to you, Anthony,
let's get to what's going on in the national news.
Take your time, break it down. What's going on nationally?

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Yeah, I know, well, we got a lot in the
national news and more so I want to get into
this now, but I don't know if I should hold off.
But obviously the Big Conference we've been talking about between
the Big ten SEC kind of who was the big dog,
and obviously the Big Ten was two favorite teams, two
of the best teams in the conference, and then two
bids to get in. So they won four teams automatically

(06:21):
from the Big Ten to get in the only reason
why I'm bringing this up because a team that was
in the college football playoffs last year, which I'm talking
about IU, which I talked about them all year, but
obviously the biggest thing was their strength of schedule, and
I wasn't knocking what they did last year. Last year
was a huge turnaround season for them under Signetty. So
last year, I'll I'll give them a bypass for last year,

(06:43):
I really will.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
But this year, just.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
Looking at the non conference games, I can't.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
I just can't.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
And I understand a lot of teams don't play good
competition in the off season. And I say the offseason
before conference game, they're playing older They're playing Old Dominion
started off, which is fine. Old Dominion has pretty been
a good mid major school in football, But then they

(07:10):
played Kennesaw State. Kennesaw State might as well not even
have a football program. I'm gonna be completely honest with you.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
It's that bad. It's bad.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
They'll they will beat Knnessas State by one hundred and
they'll play backups. Then they play Indiana State, which if
you're a real sportsman, you probably don't even know they
had a football.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
Team so bad. I coached in Indiana State, I worked
in Indiana State. I lived in Terrell. You weren't born.
I know where Indiana State is. I've seen their football teal.
The competition is not there.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
And then even going into the regular season schedule, it's
very similar to last year. I really only plays maybe
one good team out of their entire Actually I give
them to this year and the readers. Why I can
say two is because these are teams I know for
sure I'm gonna be on the on the top ten.
The customer want to make the College FOOTBA playoffs, which
is Oregon in Penn State, Illinois, Iowa, U C l A, Maryland, Wisconsin,

(08:10):
and Purdue. You just don't know what you're gonna get
from them. For two, Purdue was one of the worst
teams in football. Last year they won a game Wisconsin.
Wisconsin hasn't really been that great since they had Russell Wilson,
so who knows about Wisconsin. And then Maryland. Maryland had
to his brother in the last couple of seasons, but
he was okay. He wasn't a superstar, but he kept

(08:31):
him afloat. So Maryland's program. UCLA football has got a
little better. But are they going to be a college
football playoff team? In my opinion, no, they're not. It's
their conference that they play on their side, just the
competition isn't good enough.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Now.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
If you were to throw Ohio State in there and
swapp on those teams out, I would say Indiana has
a very valid schedule, But They only have two games
on there that I think that they will have a
real chance of actually losing and possibly getting blown out.
Who actually knows. Oregon and Penn State.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
Those are the only two. The other games, they could
go out there.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
And win all ten games. They really could, and they
could be in the same session as they were last year.
Last year they came in with the one loss obviously
when they're playing later in conference, and they played Penn State.
But it's only they only lose to the teams that matter.
So it's hard to keep throwing teams like this in
the college football playoffs or even in the talk of
that when they're not winning against competitive teams. So Big

(09:24):
Ten fight for automatic, Well, yes.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
They're trying to, Benetti, Tony Panetti, their commissioner, is trying
to fight for he's trying to strong arm Anthony the situation.
He's trying a strong arm. And now here's the funny
stat for the ACC. And I've knocked the ACC for
quite a long time. The ACC since twenty fourteen has
won as many college football championships as the Big Ten.

(09:48):
The Big Tens just made a great run the last
two years. Anthony, that's all the last two years. But
you've had Florida State and Clemson in the ACC. We
had Michigan and Ohio State back to back. They both
have three and just let you know that. It's interesting
how this goes. But no, the Big Ten wants to
flex its muscle. It's not trying to muscle out the SEC.

(10:12):
It knows it can, but it's trying to muscle out
everyone else. And that's what I've been talking to people about,
with the strength of your schedule, why it is important
for teams to be good. Why Louisville fans get mad
at me when I said, no, no, no, we want
a good conference. We do not want Oh Louisville's great
and the reci be bad. No, that's not good for
the overall strength of your conference. You need it. So

(10:35):
that's part of the show which I'm going to get into.
I'm going to talk a lot about what's going on
with these conferences and what they're very lucky. I've never
met twenty feteeny and he is the commissioner of the
Big Ten, but I have met Greg Sankie, the commission
of the SEC, and the other conferences are lucky that

(10:56):
Greg Sankie is calmer because if Greg Sankie on the
same page as the Big Ten, they would push out
the rect of these. They'd have one team in the
college football playoffs and that's it. And they can't do
it without the SEC and the Big Ten. They cannot.
That's where the revenue generators are. So we're gonna get
into that anty. We won't touch any more of it,

(11:17):
but I'm gonna get into that today. That is the
cruxt of this and right now people just don't understand.
Some people want it all and Tony Paniti, the commissioner
of the Big Ten, he wants it all, he really does.
And Greg Sankius has a more broader outlook on college athletics.

(11:42):
People should be happy. They're very, very lucky, and that
is transpiring. So we're gonna get into that.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
What else we got going on Nashville, And of course,
obviously we do got some golf going on, which we
just talked about a few minutes ago, but we do
have Round one of the Royal Purtish Golf Well Open.
It's funny and I actually saw a post on it
yesterday that Wyndham Clark had got banned from this tournament
because he had messed up his locker the prior week,

(12:11):
I think different a previous tournament which I didn't know about.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
Yes I did. Oh, yes he toward the locker room
when he left. Yes, and they banned him.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
He didn't make the cut. How you going to beat
up a locker because you didn't play.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
Good, Anthony, And just lets you know some people are
a little childish. But yes he did, and yes they
should have banned him, and they did the right thing.
But no, no, it's open. If people do not know,
it's on USA right this minute. It's been on since
four a m. The Open, and all golfers know. But Anthony,

(12:47):
a lot of people just aren't golfing fanatics like you
and I. They don't watch it as closely, they don't
follow it. But it's at Royal Port Rush. It was
established in eighteen eighty eight. That's how how long this
golf course has been. Around one hundred and thirty seven
years old. The last Open that was played there was
twenty nineteen, but Shane Lowry was the winner. Really good course.

(13:12):
A lot of people think that Roy McElroy is the favorite,
but I'm telling you right now, Scotti Scheffer's minus one.
West Wood is minus four Owinson is minus four. There
are a lot of players out there now. I'm waiting
to see what Justin Thomas can do. I'd like to
see him get going. But if they're playing in the
second tier, which I think they are, Anthony, they're going

(13:33):
to get a run of this. Sometimes golf is the
luck of the droll. But that's what's going on. It's
on USA, It's been on since four am. And turn
it on. I mean, guy's turn it on. You just
have to educate yourself about the game of golf. I
know it's a little slow, but Anthony, I enjoy watching it.
I do. It's a very difficult game to play, and

(13:55):
this game's different. Links golf is different, Anthony. To protect
is the greens, the fairways, the sand traps, Anthony, they
roll to the traps. I mean, you have to be
very very careful where you place your ball as soon
as the wind kicks up. If the weather was good, Anthony,
for four days, it would be honestly a minus eighteen.

(14:19):
But when the weather gets dicey, which it always does.
People remember those pictures of Tiger Woods with the hats
blowing off and Phil Nicholson with his pants come and loose.
I mean, guys, the wind starts to howl and you
have to play golf like you bowl, and they played
the golf game on the ground. You want to get
the ball on the ground as quickly as possible. It's

(14:40):
a different game. So I want people to watch it.
It's really really interesting to watch him play this game differently.
I think I forgot which one Tiger won. He won
so many, not as many as Jack. I don't want
anybody to get it twisted. But he won a lot
of tournaments. He never hit a driver, Anthony. He won.
He was hitting three woods and four irons and three

(15:01):
irons because he wanted to get the ball on the
ground as soon as possible. He didn't want it in
the air. He didn't want the elements to affect the game.
And that's what this opens all about. So guys, the
thought process is completely different. So if you get a chance,
watch this. When Brooks kept his minus one, he used
to be a pitbull in majors, but the minute he

(15:21):
went to Live Tour and took that money, he's just
not the same. Bottom line. But anyway, and we're gonna
get to break. It's seven twenty one and we come back.
We'll finish with the Open and the rest of the
national news. We've got a lot of car shows and
I'm going to reach out to Dave Hubert. I promise
you all about the National Street Rides coming to town

(15:41):
July thirty first through August third. I even have people
coming in to stay with me for the car show,
so we'll talk to people about that after the break.
Welcome back to these Sports Radio seven twenty four. Hey, Anthony,
tell me something, man, really quickly when you start to
look at some of these salaries, some of these payouts,

(16:02):
and it's starting to reign at the Open right now, Anthony,
this is what golf's all about, right here, baby. It's
an outdoor sport. And Anthony Bradley Bill gets sent away
and someone owes him one hundred and eleven million. Okay,
see Anthony the thunder and congratulations to Shake Gilders for
winning last night. He asked me Awards Athlete of the Year.

(16:25):
But I got a question, ann They paid Shay Gildicks
Alexander how much? Oh, no, excuse me, three hundred and
eighty million over five. They paid Jalen Williams two hundred
and eighty seven million over five. They paid ched Hogrian
two hundred and forty million over five they got any

(16:49):
millions left? Anthony, maybe I can call him Asthma tryout.
What do you think this is monopoly money? Anthony? My goodness? Okay,
see just they're the one of the youngest teams to
ever win NBA. Can they repeat? Anthony, hasn't been a
repeat in seven years? Can they repeat? Maybe eight?

Speaker 2 (17:07):
I think I think it's doable. That's don't think it'll
be easy. I mean, they almost have their full roster backs.
For the chemistry there, the players are there, same coaching,
you know, they have all the right ingredients to try
to do a run and make a back to back run.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
And they kept all the role.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
Players, which is very important on a lot of teams.
So we'll just have to see, you know. Obviously there's
a lot of you know, a lot of factors that
play in there. They played their first real long season
of their entire career, so fatigue plays a factor. Obviously,
the injury bugs sneaks around on a lot of teams
as well, So there's there's always a lot of different
little small things that you can you can put in
that pot to be like they're gonna be a contender.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
To repeat again.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
But at the same time, there's you know, one ankle
role in a playoff game that we've seen for a
lot of teams in the past, trust and you're eliminated.
It's one angle role. It's not even a broken leg
or anything. It's one ankle row.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
It's a it's a It takes you one hundred percent
correct with that. It's so much luck staying healthy. That's
why being young does help. But still, one ankle roll
can happen anyone an eighteen year older or a thirty
two year older, it can happen. Here's the difference on Anthony.
I want everyone to know I wouldn't research this. This
is going to really really tickle you all. Nineteen eighty

(18:20):
two Jerry Eves Utah Jazz, I mean forty thousand dollars
fifteen thousand from Nike. We were thirty and fifty two.
My second year with the Utah Jazz. We go fifty
two and thirty and we lose in the Western semifinals
to the Phoenix Suns. That was cal Mason see really
good friend of mine. And when we were eliminate Anthony

(18:43):
going to the second round, I got a thirteen thousand
dollars check. Okay, for going two rounds in the NFL
and NBA playoffs. The NFL, my mind's gone. So Anthony,
I just want to explain why did I say NFL.
This is the reason why I researched this nineteen excuse me,
correct two thousand with the Charlotte Hornets. Again, we have

(19:10):
a very good team. That's mash Burn was our leading scorer.
Baron Davis. We had a really, really, really good team.
Elden Campbell, PJ. Brown. We were really good. We lost
it in the seventh game to Milwaukee in the Eastern
Conference semi finals. Okay, Anthony, that year, I remember I
went back to my taxes. I got a thirty seven

(19:30):
thousand dollars after taxes check, thirty seven thousand dollars. I
was like, boy, that's a lot of money. We went
to Florida. I was like, WHOA, I was in hog Heaven. Anthony. Well,
this year's champions Oklahoma City. The winning team received eight
hundred and twenty eight thousand dollars per player. Their pool

(19:52):
was twelve point four million dollars. Okay, Athony, Now we
didn't win it, so I can't compare. I went back
and found the teams that lost in the semifinals, Anthony.
The teams that lost in the semifinals received to check
for one hundred and ninety three thousand dollars. Okay, Baseball

(20:13):
and basketball are better than the NFL. The NFL payout,
Anthony perk player for the Super Bowl three hundred and
fifty seven thousand max payout. Major League Baseball when they
win it, max payout is four hundred and seventy seven thousand.
I mean, the NBA really pays these guys, I'm telling you.
But just to let people have a comparison, I was

(20:35):
in hog Heaven, Anthony at thirteen thousand and thirty seven thousand.
They're making a little change right now. Anything. That's all
I can say. There's a little money being spread around
in this athletic field today. That's all I know. I
just wish I could go back in time, go back
in time, Anthony, and do this thing over again. Guys
are getting paid. So let's move on what we've got.

(21:00):
We're at seven twenty nine. You already touched my topic,
which I'm going to get into when we come back
after the break. Uh, let's talk about my third son, Anthony,
who will be on with us next week. Congratulations to
who Anthony, who just got a head coaching job. Who.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
Well, obviously we talked about the other one. We talked about,
you know, Jay getting the job Doun of Miami.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
But yes, you're right, you're right, another one only sons.
You're right, You're so right. I forgot about when we
spoke about Jay, which is another one of my sons.
Without a doubt, he kind of raised you and we
were all in Cleveland together. That was your hangout. He
was older than you. That was your hang out, boy.
But you're right. We just had Nolan Smith Anthony, And
it's so funny. I get a text from someone saying

(21:48):
I hear Nolan's getting the Tennessee State job. I picked
my phone up, call Nolan. He picks the phone up
and says, Pops, I'm signing the contract as we speak.
I said, okay, I'll let you go. But yes, Nolan
Smith signed with Tennessee State. So happy for that young man.
I do not know what to do. I told people

(22:13):
his dad was one of the best persons I ever met,
and integrity was first, middle, and last with him. Derek Anthony,
he did things the right way all the time. It's
all there is to it. He just it was inning
in his core. I don't know how. Never knew his dad.
His mother raised him, never knew his dad. Didn't make

(22:35):
a bit of difference, Anthony. Everyone will tell you say,
Derek Smith, we called him smitty Bob. Everyone knew what
you were going to get his very very best. Now,
funny story, true, Anthony. He does get hit pretty good
in the Alabama Birmingham game to go in Alabama in Birmingham, Anthony,

(22:57):
in their arena to go to the Final four, nineteen
eighty two. He gets popped in about the eight minute mark,
eight minutes left in the second and half, and we're
probably up to six. Lancaster is really rolling. I'm playing well,
he's playing well. He's down there. Doctor the late great
doctor Ellis is down there with him. He's on the
floor in front of their bench. This is true story, Anthon. Oh,

(23:22):
you know, it's not as long as you think. But
I thought it was ten minutes, but it was probably
two or three minutes. We're all huddled up together. Rodney's
looking at me and Wiley and I'm like, I'm gonna
go get him. Wiley Brown like he always did. He
loved to instigate. Go get him, e Anthy. I trot
down in front of their bench. You've got doctor allis

(23:45):
working with Derek's y'all. Derek sitting there on the ground.
I said, Oh, we don't finish this game or not? Anthony,
that boy he was Oh it was a sailor show.
We're cursing each other going back to the bench. I'm
telling you, he's calling me every name in the book.
Their bench is looking at us like we were crazy.

(24:08):
I mean this Geene Bartow was their coach, Anthony, their players,
all of them, their coaches. Today, they come up to
me and they talk about it. We can't, but we
talk about it every time we get together. Anthony. I said, Derek, Oh,
we're gonna finish this game. Naa, You're gonna lay on
his damn floor, man, Anthony. I want to say, the
next six minutes, nobody got a rebound for either team

(24:28):
up and then Derek, I'm telling you, he went and
got every ball, Anthony, and then he would outlet it
to me so hard. He would throw it to me
so hard it was funny. I mean, Anthony, he was
trying to knock me down with the ball. Boil boil
the good old days. That's all I can say. But

(24:48):
Nolan's dead. I'm telling you guys, well, first player to
make a million dollars well, one of the first guards
to ever make a million dollars was Derek Smith. Anthony
Gus Williams was one, of course, Magic Johnson's Dereck Smith
was in the top five to ever make a million

(25:08):
dollars a year. People don't know this about that boy.
He came to Louisville at sixteen and a half years old, Anthony,
he was starting at seventeen and a half, starting on
a national championship team. Going back to yesterday. And I
know I'm going on with this, but I want people
to understand what winning is. Nobody's a bigger fan. I

(25:29):
want my caller Mark. Nobody loves Lamar Jackson more than
I did. But I'm telling you what. I want you
all to remember, Louisville fans, what made Darryl so special?
That senior year, he told Jerry's to shoot it. I
shot it twice, we were down four. I tied the
game up. Derreck Smith shot it the third time down

(25:50):
they filed him. He rose in the free throws. Daryl
shot it the fourth time. That put us up four.
Got me. Then Rodney McCrae rode in his free throws. Guys,
Daryl didn't come and shoot every ball. Daryl let his
teammates help him. That's why it's imperative that Lamar learns
through coaching. Through coaching, you must be coached to give up,

(26:12):
to give up of yourself. Daryl did not shoot it.
Go watch the tape. Daryl Griffith did not shoot the
ball the last seven possessions. He shot it once. Freshman
and sophomore shot the ball. That's what a champion does,
and griff is a champion, period, point blank. I told everyone,
the nicest guy. He never said any word to me

(26:34):
ever on the court giving the ball. You messed up
nothing ever. I mean, guys, it's just unusual. But he
wanted to win a championship and he yelled at me
to shoot it. That's the difference. So we're gonna get
the break. But I'm so happy for Nolan Smith. But
his dad, honestly, he's one of the greatest ever at Louisville.

(26:56):
Total person, not close, and he could play his butt off.
Is the sports radio it's seven thirty five. Tell me something, Shannon.
I know I set you up. Do you have my
little clip ready for me? Shannon? Next segument? We'll do
it when we come back. Shannon, have it loaded. I
want people. You all are gonna die laughing when you
hear this one? Is it Esports Radio? We'll talk to

(27:16):
you in a minute.

Speaker 3 (27:17):
Can you drink right after a few like this?

Speaker 1 (27:23):
Give me another one in Briddy.

Speaker 3 (27:25):
Fred Samson, you just left the house of the Lord,
and now I'm in my house. Oh, y'all ought to
be ashamed drinking like a school of fish. My Bible says,
do you not drunk with wine?

Speaker 1 (27:41):
What he said about Scotch hold it.

Speaker 3 (27:46):
Don't let him out yet. I got something to say
to these heathens. Ain't gonna stand still and listen to this?
Chapter five two said the Lord and the Lord have
called you in righteousness to bring out the prisoners and

(28:08):
them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

Speaker 1 (28:12):
I don't hear no amen in there?

Speaker 2 (28:15):
Can I get amen for t the funny too?

Speaker 1 (28:20):
All right? Let me hear something in there. If you
want to get out this mess. You're not the only one.
They know something about the Bible. Remember this, he who
he running down Lippus will get their lippings splitter with
one of the guys. I could help it. I saw
that yesterday and you all have to understand. It's not

(28:42):
Frice Sandford, it's not who is from Louisville. They've got
little babies with their faces on them. It is so funny, boy,
I'm telling you it's comical. But anyway, they're the very
they were the very best. I'm telling you. Slap stip
comedy Esther and Frince Handford. Boy, just go back if
you need a laugh. And Bo, I'm pulling for you. Also,

(29:05):
I'm not gonna tell you what Bos going through, but
Bo's going through something healthwise, so Bo, we're pulling for
you also. So anyway, Anthony, you missed, Anthony. I used
to watch Fred Sanford after done with school work, sitting
in the room five thirty six, and it was so funny.
Get back just in time to watch it. Oh god,
you just cry laughing. He was a funny individual. My goodness. Anyway,

(29:29):
back to the show. This is Esworts Radio. It's seven two.
Got Aunt on the other line. I know, Aunt, you're
about to get out of here. You're still with me, Anthony, here.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
You don't, well, no, I'll be here the full show.
I'm work because I works Saturday.

Speaker 1 (29:45):
Okay. I got Yaka a good deal. So here's the
deal then, Anthony, I'm gonna read to you. I've been
telling people it's important that the conference is good. And
here's why why Big Ten desperately wants to read college
football playoffs. And Tony Paniti, he is the commissioner. The
Big Ten dropped any pretense that the vision of the

(30:07):
future format of college football would be a bus for
any other than his conference. Of course, he's not trying
to push the SEC out. The SEC is the pit bull, Anthony.
They are. They won six or seven championships since college
football playoffs started. Alabama and Georgia ruled the roost period,

(30:27):
point blank. Lsu Joe Burrow stuck his head in there, Anthony.
But the SEC is the top dog. There are the
two big money conferences. Okay, So now that we've gone
to this playoffs, and if everyone remembers, I'm not talking
about when I was twenty eight, Anthony, I'm talking about
eight or nine or ten years ago. We had eighteen

(30:49):
playoff that went enough, we're in a twelve team playoff.
Now they're thinking about increasing it, thinking about increasing the
amount of teams in the basketball NCAA tournament. You all
remember those days when he said the welfare of the
student athlete was important and we didn't want him to
play too many games. Remember that, Anthony, How that's gone

(31:10):
out the window. It's all about the money now that
they have to share some of the billion dollar revenue
they have, and now the business is under stress because
they have to pay the people that made all the money. Man,
I just want to make sure you all remember eight
or nine years ago we were concerned about how many
games they played. Well, Anthony was not just throwing Indiana

(31:36):
under the bus. They were not. He was not. When
he came down this morning speaking with me, I said, Anthony,
I've got Louisvo's non conference schedule, which I'm going to
get into when we start talking about the details of
what's going on in this college football playoffs. Tony Paniti
does not like teams. He'll tolerate Indiana, but he doesn't

(31:56):
like it to non conference schedule. He wants him to
play more games in conference. He doesn't like these week
nine conference games. Okay, So We've got University Louisville. There
are going to be four no also anything. I mean,
louis was paying two point seven to five million for
teams to come into the Ellenin Stadium to get beat

(32:18):
up on. Okay, e Ku guarantee five hundred and fifty
thousand dollars. James Madison, their fee is one million dollars.
To play. We have Bowling Green. Their fee is one
point two million dollars according to the game contract, to
come in and get beat up on. All schools do this,

(32:41):
got me, guys. University of Kentucky, same thing. Everyone does it.
They'll play some lame ducks to help get their team going.
Now here's the difference, guys. When you're in the SEC,
you can do that because your conference schedule is so
tough and it is. Don't get mad at me. The

(33:03):
facts are the facts. Here's Kentucky lego, that's a win.
Ole Miss Conference game not guaranteed. Eastern Michigan that's a win.
You got me. Those are two games. Listen to the
remainder of their games. South Carolina defeated Kentucky last year. Georgia,

(33:24):
it could be national champions Texas maybe National champions Tennessee
was in the college football playoffs last year, Auburn trying
to regroup, Florida. We do have Tennessee Tech. That's the
third one. Vanderbilt who had some great wins. Don't forget
Vanderbilt beat Alabama last year. You all don't say, oh, Vandy,

(33:47):
Vandy beat Alabama last year. And Louisville. So, guys, these
non conference opponents for leagues like the ACC hurt them.
Hurt them because the ACC doesn't uplift them. The teams
in the league aren't good enough. The league is bad,

(34:07):
so you've got people making money decisions. Tony Pandi is
one who could care less about the a SEC. That's
why the article says, and the Carrier Journal picked this up.
This is a SEC columnist that wrote this. Top Meyer
why Big ten desperately wants to rig college football playoffs

(34:27):
after they don't care anything about at all? The ACC
are the best interest of the ACC at all. They're
just worried about their pocketbook. Now, Greg Sanki, he's more
stable with this thought process. And there's some things I
want to read you on that, Anthony. They are important

(34:48):
for people to understand when you say what is truly
going on, well, this is the real deal. The Big
ten in the SEC would be assigned for automatic bid spot.
If Tony Panetti had his job, the top two from
each conference would get and then they'd have a play
in four teams would be able to play for two

(35:09):
more spots. That means three, four, five, and six. Anthony
would have a chance to play in to the college
football playoffs both Big Ten and the SEC, which means
the end of the season games are more important Anthony.
More people would go, there's more interest because you could
be in seventh place. Anthony saying, I've got to have

(35:29):
a big upset. I need someone to beat someone. I
can slip into the top six and have a chance
to play into the college football playoffs if I'm in
the Big Ten or if I'm in the SEC not
the ACC. He says, we'll give you two maybe maybe.
If they're in the top twelve, you'll get your conference
champ for sure. Then there's a maybe on the second.

(35:53):
Tony Panti could care less about the ACC at all. Well,
Greg Saki's thought process on that is different. The commissioner
of the SEC. He wants teams to play and Beniti
wants to only count conference games, so we will know

(36:14):
who opens up Ohile Stateton Texas play first game this year. Okay, Anthony,
great game. I like to see those games. I'd like
to see more of those games other than these pay
games that Indiana has, Louisville has, Kentucky has, a lot
of teams have them. But I would like to see
a more challenging non conference schedule for some of these

(36:34):
ACC schools to give them a chance to show their
wares that they can compete with the Big Ten and
the SEC. So a lot of these pay games that
we're looking at truly harm you because you get no
credit for winning them. You're not going to anymore. Indiana did,

(36:54):
and a lot of people think that Louisville's easy schedule
non conference schedule helps them get off to a great start.
But guys, if your conference is not good, they're going
to push them out. The format is four four two
two one four for the SEC, four for the Big Ten,
two for the ACC, two for the Big twelve, and

(37:15):
one for whoever's left out there. You know, the pack
towel is trying to stay alive, but whoever's out there
is what he's trying to do. So I don't. I
don't know if people understand the importance of balance, the
importance of now scheduling truly non conference opponents that can

(37:36):
make your team better, more interesting games for the fans
to buy. I mean absolutely, Anthey, we're going to the games.
But who wants to see e k you get killed
at Louisville. Who wants to see Kentucky destroyed Toledo? The
ultimate Kentucky fan, the ultimate Louisville fan. Yes, but people
that want to see good football. No, that's not what

(37:58):
you want to see. You want to see lay games,
and I think it's important they do that. You gotta
go to break. I got one question for you, Anthey,
do you think Louisville can make the college football playoffs
this year? Two great running backs, mass Miller, Moster really
puffing is one of the better quarterbacks, even though he
lost his job last year. Can they make a push

(38:19):
before we get the break through it?

Speaker 2 (38:21):
Everybody has a fair chance, That's all I can say.
So they go out there and they perform and they
win games. Jay can, But honestly, in the ACC and
let's see unlet's Clemson and Florida State are at the
top of their game. Louis was going to have to
go undefeated.

Speaker 1 (38:33):
Gotcha. Oh that's a great point. Great point, Eves Sports Radio.
We got to get to our last break. We'll talk
to you in a minute. Welcome back to Eves Sports Radio. Anthony.
I'm gonna read this quickly. Big Ten teams to play
tougher non conference games, and Patini's playing most bids would
be awarded based on conference performance, so teams could schedule

(38:54):
tough non conference matchups without worrying about the effects of
a loss. You've got to have a postseason format that
makes the regular season better, Patini says, go make sure
the Big Ten. The problem with that line of thinking,
if playoff assets is based mostly on conference standings, then
non conference games would be caoll would be glorified exhibition. Anthony.

(39:18):
They are glorified exhibition PA. Team's correct on that statement.
These teams that everyone is playing, everyone Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville,
they're glorified exhibition games. They're not going to lose. It's
going to be fifty something to fourteen. It's a blowout.
And we're going to talk about the great numbers that
all the quarterbacks have when they're just glorified exhibition games.

(39:41):
I think they need to change that to where the
SEC has to play the Big ten, the Big ten
has to play the ACC, the SEC has to play
the Big twelve in games and non conference, so that
it is a competitive nature where we can take total
games into our determination of who gets in and who

(40:03):
is not. That's all. So you're gonna have teams that
are four and oh Indiana last year Anthony, who played nobody,
I'm sorry, and they were had the luck of the draw.
They got the least of the good teams, and the
Big Ten they get into the college football playoffs. We
watched them play Ohile State and hold the ball. We
saw when they should have been passing the ball trying

(40:25):
to score it. We saw them running the ball, running
clock because they didn't want to get beat bad. And
we saw it. We watched it. So they do need
to change certain things to where teams have to play
outside of their conference, more competitive schedule. Now, I'm gonna
do the same thing we did for Kentucky. You and
I Anthony, Kentucky, Louisville Eastern Kentucky. Who wins that game?

(40:47):
I went your opinion, hit me quick.

Speaker 2 (40:51):
Louisville Winnesday game?

Speaker 1 (40:52):
Okay, James Madison, who wins that game? Louisville Bowling Green?
Who wins that game? Louisville Pittsburgh first conference game? Who
wins that game?

Speaker 2 (41:05):
Louis Still when they can get.

Speaker 1 (41:09):
There? You go for four? Oh, I have the same thing.
Virginia's Game five? Who wins that game? Louisville Dust gotcha
at Miami? First real game, first real game? Anthony, just facts,
who wins that game at Miami?

Speaker 2 (41:25):
I think Louisville has a good chance. I'm not sold on.
I really don't like Carson Back that much. I'm gonna
be completely honest.

Speaker 1 (41:30):
Okay that when I gave him a loss, that was
my first loss. But I can understand you saying Louis
of winning that game at Miami, Carson Back, I took
Miami Boston College. Who wins that game? Louisville w Virginia Tech.
Who wins that game? Louisville Dusk California. Who wins that game?

(41:50):
Louis us is again, guys, that's why it's important to
play tough non conference games. Then they've got Clemson s
m U in Kentucky, which will talk about tomorrow. Anthony,
We're not going to rush through those three. We'll talk
about those tomorrow. You'll have a great day, put a
smile on somebody's face. Esworts Radio Live in the Present.
I love you all, Bye bye,
