Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to EVE Sports Radio. Yes it is, Yes,
I'm pumped up, and yes it is July the eighteenth,
twenty twenty five. It is Friday. It's raining, but I
guess we're used to it now. The weather has changed.
It's like Florida weather. Rains, then sunshine and thunderstorms, then
sunshine and rained and sunshine. So we're into the Florida

(00:24):
weather now. That's all. We get, all the weather, all
the seasons in one day in Louisvio. That's for sure,
all the seasons. So welcome back to E Sports Radio.
All numbers five zero two, five seven, one seventy nine hundred.
This is Sports Talk seven ninety KRD. Of course we've
got Shannon behind the glass. Appreciate you Shannon, and we've
got all you. We appreciate you all listening, no question,

(00:47):
and the show's doing really well. I appreciate all the support.
Continue listening. If you agree or disagree, just continue listening.
Now you know we've got our cast of characters. That's
all I'm going to say. It depends on how they
take that. They can take that good or they can
take that bad. Let's go throw it first to my

(01:08):
younger son Anthony Eves. How are you doing, Anthony, how'd
you take that introduction? You know it?

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Sometimes I say, I let you do your own thing.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
That's the best. Okay, that's the best. That's the best thing.
That's how the best way goes, Anthony. So I'm not
going to say anything. You take it the way that
you want to take it. I just said casts of
characters that could be good, that could be Looney tunes,
straight cartoon characters. I don't know. The only thing I
know is we still don't have the other guy here

(01:41):
with as yet, so he won't have an opinion. I
will repeat it when he does. Called Indo Anthony, He's
going to get the introduction also, But welcome back to
the show Man. We've got a lot to get to,
that's all I know. Weather's crazy, Anthony. I mean, the
weather's just crazy from yesterday, thunderstorms, lightning. I was coming

(02:01):
home on US forty two at three in the afternoon yesterday.
Anthony and I went from fifty five on the water
since sixty Jonathan Brownsboro Road, through all the lights. By
the time I get to I want to say, right
by Ballot, right by Paul's Food Market, Anthony we were

(02:22):
doing five miles an hour. You couldn't see the car
in front of you. I mean, you couldn't see the
car in front of you. It was just that bad.
And it was like that. It's like that for probably,
thank you Shennon for probably five minutes. I mean I
could have walked as fast as we drove. It was
raining so hard. But Anthony, we got the other guy,

(02:43):
and I told you I was not going to bar
anything from him. So the same introduction I gave you.
We all know that on Monday and Friday we had
the cast of characters. Depends on how they take it.
Let's welcome the one and only, bring you Williams to
the show. How do you take it? George? Is that

(03:03):
an insult? Cast a character? Oh?

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Man?

Speaker 4 (03:07):
Because I'm with you, so anybody knows that you're around,
it's got to be some kind of character you fooling with.
I mean, you ruined my reputation, but hey, what the heck?

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Hey, I did it easy, George. You came easy. Hey, George,
you came easy. Brother.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
I know, I know we want we were an Anthony reputation,
but hey, I wasn't worried.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
About matches exactly George, we're both too old to worry
about our reputation.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
Well it's been shot for a minute. So we look
at my fam.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
Good seeing yesterday. It was good seeing yesterday.

Speaker 4 (03:41):
Oh yeah yeah, telling me at Giant seen in a minute.
It was really was that he was a mother boy.
You're talking about the rain, that he was a boss though,
Joe range time, my range starting and now you go
twenty five degrees.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
He's right up. Now, look, George, serious part of this ship.
And then we're gonna get back to having fun on Friday.
But yesterday I am, and I want everyone to know
that our guy, and I mean our guy. The show's
got you oldes guy. He's been around here. His names
well right now we all know that George and I
spoke with Kyby Harrison. I just want you all to

(04:18):
keep Kyby in in your prayers. Kyby's the tank, as
we well know, he's the tank, no question, nobody's going
more than Kybe Harrison. And he's got a birthday. He's
got a birthday coming up. You know, he's fought it off.
He's got a birthday coming up. But I just wanted
everybody to know keep Kyve in his prayers. Struggling right now.
He's got these infections that he's having problems with his limbs.

(04:42):
We all understand the diabetes, and I'm not going to
get into all that, but I just want everybody to
keep Kaby in their prayers. And George and I spoke
with him yesterday. I've spoken with him every day for
the last three or four. But Georgie had a chance
to talk to you yesterday, and so did Coach Beard.
So I just want everybody to keep copying your prayers.
You got anything else, George.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
Oh, yeah, day. You know, he's still a fight. He
still sounds strong, but you know what I mean, he's
going through a lot, and we, like you said, we
need to keep him in his prayers, and we're trying
to like send him pictures and you know, keep his
spirits as much as you can. I mean, and uh,
let like I said, we're all going to get over
this day. So let's all play for Coby and hope
he does what he can do.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Exactly, no question, guys. So I just wanted to make
sure we got that out and I will continue speaking
about that. I talked to Cindya's sister, who's the very,
very very best to our family, his daughter, right, and
just keep copying your prayers. That's all I can say.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
So anyway, a fighter, he's a fighter, Joe. He doesn't
lay down what you're talking about. Then fell out amulances
and I mean, you think about what this boy's been
through since we've known him, just since we've known him exactly.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
George, when he called my show, I had no idea,
and my all high school coach coach, I said, do
you know who that was? I'm like, no, He said
that guys known as well as anybody in the city
Kybe Harrison. Then I started researching. Then I found out
about his daughter, and I found about he and baseball, softball, basketball, football.

(06:17):
I'm like, God, this man. And then after that we
became very very good friends. So I just wanted to
let everybody know Gray Whitlock. Everyone knows Great Whitlock. It's
like his son, you know, Whitlock is letting people know.
So I just wanted to make sure that everybody keeps
Kyby Harrison in their prayers. That's all. So Now, George, Anthony, mister,

(06:41):
we're gonna We're gonna let Anthony go straight to the
national news because that's what we're gonna get in. We're
gonna get into the football. I got some questions from you,
George and Anthony, and we're gonna start with Coach Stoops
and Vince Morrow. But I want Anthony to lay out
the national news, so give it to his aunt.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Yeah, so obviously we got a ton going on. US
Open is going on early this morning. I always forget
that the Open comes on before I even wake up,
so I come downstairs. That's already on TV. They're already
on Hold twelve. So I'm like, they have been playing
since like four am. Wow, But it's it's early. So
if you if you're not a true golf fan and

(07:18):
you wake up at a normal seven thirty eight o'clock
time for work, you'll miss You'll miss almost half your half.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Absolutely, I've been up, George. You know I'm crazy. I've
been up. I know it's enough. I'm ignorant. Hey, but guys,
I've got a clip that we must play because it's
hard to get it on. Anthony. You Paul is right there.
You will finish. Please play Coach Stoop speaking about Vince Morrow,
because that's our first segment. Hit it for me.

Speaker 5 (07:44):
You know, anybody that's you know, making a decision to
leave the program. I think I don't think there's any
like perfect way to do that, you know, So I
don't hold any animosity towards that at all, or towards Vince.
I greatly appreciate our friendship and what he's done to
help us build this program for twelve years. And uh,
you know, he was instrumental in.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
A lot of ways.

Speaker 5 (08:05):
But you know, with that, I say the same thing
about myself, about everybody in our program. I mean, it's
about the program. It's about so many individuals and so
many people that, you know, I think that's what the
focus on in this program, and these student athletes and
everybody were resilient. You know, you just got to pick
up and move on quickly. And so I greatly appreciate him.

(08:29):
You know, I still think the world of him. Uh,
but we moved on quickly.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
I mean it's took us. So, guys, that's Coach Morrow
speaking about we all know, that's Coach Stoope speaking about
Vince Morrow leaving the University of Louisville. They're Archie Nemesis. Interesting, Yes,
leaving Kentucky. I'm sorry for Louisville. So, guys, I mean,
this is just what a story and what a sidebar

(08:55):
is going to be throughout the entire season. I understand
Coach Stoops saying it's time to move on. It is,
and he's correct with that, but this is going to
be spoke about all year. We know that building up
for this game. What a build up. So I don't, George,
I'm still Anthony Twist and twein with this. I have

(09:17):
been fired from jobs that I've done, excellent jobs from
the one is the Charlotte Hornets, the best team and
the furthest they've ever gone in the NBA playoffs. And hey,
right after that, two of the coaches, Lee Rose and myself,
we lost our job. Paul Silas made a decision going
in a different direction. Okay, it happens in our business.

(09:38):
It's a big boy business. And I made a decision
to leave the University of Louisville and Coach Crumb to
go work for Paul Silas and the Charlotte Hornets. So
I've been on both sides of this, George, I have
done both. It wasn't personal when I left Louisville. I'm
just gonna be honest with people. They're like, how could
you do that? Well, it was really simple, George. I

(10:00):
had X amount of years in as a player on
my pension, Okay, three point three. They do them in segments.
I'm not going to get into the actual segments, but
this is how you get paid. Each segment, you get
paid more money through the NBA.

Speaker 6 (10:15):
So when I had the opportunity to go back and
had a three year deal, George, which meant I would
get again more segments, more money on my retirement, it
was really.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Worth it to me. First thing, at University of Louisville,
coach Crumb at that time, coach Olsen was paying seventy
five thousand. I made your seventy five, George. That was easy.
Second thing is that each year that I did in
the NBA added to my pension, George, which has made
me very, very very comfortable. I made the right decision.

(10:46):
It was financial, but there's no question I made the
right decision for my family and I So, George, there
are a lot of things that go on and transpire
with this and Anthony, what do you think, George, we're
going to get into Coach Stoops, We're going to get
into the SEC has Kentucky picked way down coach Stoop said,
he's put his head down and gone to work. He

(11:06):
stopped all the talking. His team hasn't been talking, which
is the right thing to do, George talking that when
games work does What do you think with this leaving
with coach Vince Borrow leaving going to Louis But what
does that do to the Kentucky program?

Speaker 4 (11:23):
Well, well, Jerry, I think I think it does. It
does several thanks Jerry. You know, you know, after after
a period of time, you get to a point where
you out grow one another. You know, that program left
grow one another. You know, uh uh, sometimes it's it's
a time for a change because you want to go
in the direction and the coach want to go in
a different direction. So you got to account for that.

(11:45):
Like you said, it's also a financial uh milestone. So
you know, we know he's getting more money to leave
that program because he wouldn't come up out of that,
you know. And and like you said, Jerry, he may
have some alternatives and stuff maybe going what's going on?
It can sucky that you know, we don't know behind
the scenes, you know, with administration and stuff that made
him leave. It was just a time for them to

(12:06):
separate because during times, you know, you get you go
to the hiatus, and then it's time for each person
to see what them made of and go in a
different direction.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
Couse.

Speaker 4 (12:15):
You know, sometimes you some people think you made them,
other people think I made you. So sometimes it's time
for you approve yourself where you staying in the business.
So I don't really know what went on, but I
think he's made a decision, Like you said, this best
for his family investing him.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
Absolutely, Jored I agree with you there. I mean, there's
a lot of things we just don't know. But the
sports business, guys, it's a lot of fun, but guys,
it's a difficult business. I am telling you, when you
make a career in the sports business, you're a tough character.
That's all I'm saying. Anthony, what do you think of
the movement Vince Morrow to Louisville? Anthony, that's the thing.

(12:52):
It's not leaving. But he left a Louisville. What do
you think of that, Anthony? I know he because rom
had a relationship. What do you think.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
You know?

Speaker 2 (13:02):
And you know we all know that sports comes down.
It's you know, it sounds like it's.

Speaker 7 (13:07):
A selfish business, but when it comes to sports, you
gotta think about yourself. And that is completely true, because
I hate to say it. In most lines of businesses
you work in the professional field of athletics, most people
will put themselves over you because they have to support
their families and feed their families as well. So if
you have a coach on there, he could be your
best friend of playing you love the deathly. If he's

(13:28):
out there losing games or you're going two to ten,
you're gonna both be unemployed. So you have to make
a decision of where I have to feed my family.
As much as I love this guy and I care
about him, he's just not putting us in a situation
or putting the organization in this situation to be successful
long term. And that's what sports is. You want long
term success, not short term success. And so sometimes it

(13:51):
comes in some people. Some people will leave for money issues.
Some people just leave because they think it's a better
opportunity to forward their career, and that's what sports is.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
Everyone wants to get to the top, so which at the.

Speaker 7 (14:01):
Most prestigious schools get paid the most money. As much
as they say down inside, they might say they love coaching,
but No, and one thing that is true that I
would believe to in the time that money does bring happiness.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
It does.

Speaker 7 (14:15):
It brings financial freedom. You can do whatever you want,
you can take care of your family. It brings your happiness.

Speaker 8 (14:20):
No one wants to live.

Speaker 7 (14:21):
You're coaching and you're on the road, never.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
See your family, and you're making twenty k's.

Speaker 4 (14:25):
This is not realistic.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
Yeah, they have to pay more money. Well that's one
thing that Kentucky did compensate in tomorrow. Well, there's no
question about it. We were looking at Louisville's compensation are
there are a few outside entities that are paying that,
so we don't know the exact amount. But again, they
were both lucrative contracts and I wish them both the best.
It was it did surprise me. I'm not gonna kid anyone.

(14:51):
It really shocked me when I saw heard the rumor
and then we saw happened. Twelve years together, I thought
I had a great marriage. Kentucky's in a tough spot,
which we're going to get into after the break, trying
to crack this egg of the sec George Anthony has
said it before. It's minor league NFL and alab anyone says,

(15:13):
and it's the toughest football conference in the country period. Yes,
the Big Ten is one of the last two. Congratulations
to the Big Ten. I'm going to give you your
kudos with Michigan and Ohio State. But still the SEC
has six or seven since twenty fourteen. There is no
comparison period. The SEC is rugged. So we're going to

(15:35):
talk about what Kentucky has to do. We've got from
the SEC media Day where Kentucky's rank. I'm going to
talk about that, what the University of Kentucky has to
do to move forward and is it possible for them
to advance in this football league that they're in. E
Sports Radio. It's already seven to twenty one. We'll talk
to you after the break. Welcome back to EVE Sports Radio. Guys,

(15:59):

I've got George Williams, the one and only. I've got
Anthony Eves. Hey, guys, we've got callers lined up, but
I do want to get this out before I get
to our first caller George and Anthony. I had someone
send me a little information saying Big Dog took a
four hundred thousand dollars pay cut. There was a problem somewhere,

(16:21):
So George, I'm just giving information that I received during
the break. So anyway, guys, we're gonna we will find
out sports business. Nothing is a secret. We will find out.

(23:21):
Of course this is a sports show. But I can't
say that all the time because I got crazy George

Speaker 4 (23:31):
Oh Judge, slick click, slick, back it up, back it up,

to leave that gual, you know what I mean, he's
one of the more prominent guys. We know you know
what I mean, I don't know what he may say next,
Jerry Eve. So we gotta put him in there? Can
we do that? Can we just? Can we just slide

(23:51):
him in there somewhere somewhere, Throw me in the.

Speaker 10 (23:54):
Box of chocolates, because you know you're gonna get there.
You're gonna be in the box of chocolate. I got
a question though, for you, mister Eve. We lost you
for about seven eight months, and now we've done lost
your son. What goes on with the East family?

Speaker 1 (24:08):

Speaker 4 (24:09):
I took the appear from his show.

Speaker 1 (24:11):
He's not gonna be on TV just yet. He's working
on it, but he's back. Anthony up your National News
before we get to our next caller. But you know what.
The one thing though, George and Anthony, I gotta say,
I hate to tell you, Ron is a Thomas Jefferson
man right, and George I terrorized Thomas Jefferson. I mean

(24:31):
I gave him nightmares. Jose Slaughter, I know him personally, George,
I gave him nightmares.

Speaker 8 (24:36):
George, why are you playing.

Speaker 4 (24:39):
Your guests home? And didn't tell him up? Man?

Speaker 1 (24:41):
I can't. I'm just so glad Ryn my Man and
Landing reminded me of his birthday. What a great day.
And I'm gonna terrorize him.

Speaker 4 (24:51):
All day the happy birthday day, Happy birthday to him. Huh,
what is that guy?

Speaker 9 (24:57):
Hey?

Speaker 1 (24:57):
Ja?

Speaker 4 (24:58):
I can all I can say, though, Jerry is you've
got to you got to face Simon Jefferson a couple
of years later, a couple of years before then. I
don't think those roads are becoming your mouth.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
You're trying to talk about the old Thomas Jefferson. I
got you. I hat I give Thomas Jefferson. They're due,
without a doubt.

Speaker 4 (25:15):
The Ron Thomas Thomas.

Speaker 1 (25:18):
Like I said, George, it was. They were the people
don't even know about Thomas Jefferson High School anymore. They
were the real deal. Fiss And we'll get to our
next caller. Finish the national news there.

Speaker 8 (25:31):
Yeh, do my best here reading driving will bear with me.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
Don't do that. Don't do that. I got it. What
you want me to talk about to open I'm trying
to tell you, I'm getting dicey out here. Okay, Well
that mean okay, TVT We've got great games coming up
Kentucky Place tonight. Louisville plays tomorrow twelve thirty. Jorge already

(25:55):
tell you we're both going to be at the game
in twelve. I'm going to get there. I'll be a
little late and out early, George, because I got a
pack day tomorrow, but I'm gonna stick.

Speaker 4 (26:04):
My head in.

Speaker 1 (26:05):
But that's always players I like on Kentucky's roster. Willie
kley Stein is a difference maker, Good a difference maker.
The Harrison Twins are difference makers. Cantoner is a very
good player, Lamb. I can't wait to watch play. I
can't wait. People we left these guys out. Hey, Sean
Woods is gonna be serious about this if those guys
aren't playing. I guarantee you yo. Sean Woods a great

(26:28):
Kentucky basketball player and coach more Heads State, and he'll
get them out of there. Sean's not gonna be playing.
Sean's gonna be trying to win it. Trust me. Sean
will be pulling players if they're not getting it done.
I tell you that. On the Louisville side, Errol Clark's
a difference maker. Jay Scruggs, I really like Jay. You
know that, George, He's a.

Speaker 4 (26:46):
Really good player.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
He's still in shape. Raymond Spauty Shamebodhan and Shane's not
a difference maker anymore. Mintress Harrow is David Johnson. One
of my favorites is Chris Jones. We have to wait
and see what happens then want he may be, he
may be Man with Lukenko takes him.

Speaker 4 (27:02):
Out of the game.

Speaker 1 (27:03):
George, you know that, Uh.

Speaker 4 (27:07):
Hey, Jaw, I'll say that, I don't know. I will
say this. I will say this, Jack, Chris is a
difference to make one way out of the other, no questions.
We don't never know which other.

Speaker 1 (27:21):
It's gonna be an interesting week and in this tvt
winner Take All in a million dollars said no, no,
and you just continue to work doing your thing. I've
got some questions for you. But first, before we get
to we've got to bring onto one n only. I'm
just trying to tell you straight up. Ac you get crazy,
I'm cutting, so keep it in the middle of the road.

Speaker 8 (27:42):
Welcome to God, Good morning.

Speaker 4 (27:50):
I wonderfully see. Always a pleasure, always a pleasure.

Speaker 8 (27:54):
Well later today I'm gonna call a show in Tuscalusa.
I call everywhere because show, you run the show. I
carry every station behind my back like Lebron James. And
best of all, I'm.

Speaker 1 (28:12):
I'm glad.

Speaker 8 (28:13):
You know you know what funny thing about the whole frame?
I know you have a contest in six weeks, and
I'm gonna mention that, you know what's so funny about
that whole thing. Lebron and Bronny they could be successful
or whatever. It's their personal business. I'm like you, mistery,
at least it's playing with his son. I'm like you.
You guys are so us what you're doing. Get off

(28:37):
the subject. I don't want to hear no more Jordan Kobe, Lebron,
no more Darrel Russell, Eliven, whenever, whoever it gets closer,
come talk to me. I'm I don't want to hear anything,
nothing but Michael.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
George's closer, Michael George's closer, Bryant Johnson's closer more than five.
I agree, I agree, but they're closer than Lebron that
you just slapped me with.

Speaker 8 (29:09):
That said done deal. It's a done deal. Eliven is
more than everything, Okay, dune deal. I don't want to
have conversations. Eliven is more than everything.

Speaker 1 (29:17):
God, why I didn't. I'm not disagreeing with you. Who's disagreed?
You said? Lebron James. You said Lebron you said that,
You said Lebron James and we were jealous, and you
said we were jealous about Bron James.

Speaker 8 (29:31):
The amount of time, the amount of time.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
He can't he's like you. He can't play and you
can't play.

Speaker 8 (29:41):
No, No, you're absolutely right, he cannot. But you're absolutely right.
Is why do you do this? You know that God
cannot play, but he's in the NBA. Don't take this personally.
What about your two kids? They ever made it to NBA?

Speaker 1 (29:56):
No, they weren't good enough. That's fine. That's he's not
good enough either. He's not good enough. You know. That's
why I say playoffs.

Speaker 8 (30:08):
His son made the playoffs, but you guys never did it.

Speaker 1 (30:11):
For you, jail, I didn't make it to the playoffs.

Speaker 8 (30:14):
Mister, let's about you love it. I don't know why
you know that's what you did. I had to point
out the fact you don't listen. That's the problem about you.
It's not my problem, mister Eaves. You have a contest
for weeks.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
Correct, Okay, I do football contest, I will yes, I do.

Speaker 8 (30:36):
I hear I hear By declared July eighteen, twenty twenty five,
at seven forty five am I am withdrawing myself from
your contest. Yeah, let me tell you the reason. Here's
the thing, cont mister Eaves. I appreciate you for the contest,

(30:56):
and I competed, But let me tell you your contest.
I'm sorry, it's a total joke.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
Right, you're right? Why a c Why because you cannot
say eleven championships or six or five? You never won anything,
so it should be a joke to you. Could you
never want anything?

Speaker 8 (31:16):
I read, sir, excuse me, sir two years ago, two
years ago, I do want a contrast about squat boys
in a high school football game. I could back it up.
I am withtrolling myself because why am I predicted Louisville, Kentucky?

Speaker 1 (31:31):
As you one more questions? I ask you one more question.
Here's the a I got one more true person told?
How many weeks? How many weeks did you compete in
my contest over the years? Be honest, Acy, I.

Speaker 8 (31:45):
Have been in your show again, it's recorded. You can
go back and live two years and I competed only
three years this year for the year I'm patrolling you.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
Just hold and here's the deal. George Wis and listeners.
You said you won two high school games in three years,
and you're saying that you're competing like you George.

Speaker 8 (32:16):
Everybody comes back to me, everybody comes after me I
all and over again.

Speaker 1 (32:23):
Hold up, let's make them bet every day. Let's make
them wait, AC and you don't collect. I want people
to know A C does not take the money. I

Let's do this, AC, Let's do this. You and I

with the kind. It's just me and you. And when
I bust you a C, I'm gonna let the world know.

so I'm gonna give you a replacements, but they should
be winning your money. You know who dose replacements? Aorry
