Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome back to EVE Sports Radio July twenty second, twenty
twenty five, Tuesday in the louisvi area. If you did
not know it, Yes, I am watching Jerry Jones on ESPN.
I'm finished with the Cowboys. I've been finished with them
last year. I'm still done with them. So do not
put the Cowboys on Jerry Ease. I'm done with the Cowboys.
But welcome back to EVE Sports Radio. Phone number is
(00:24):
five zero two, five seventy nine hundred. That's five zero two,
five seven to one seventy nine hundred. This is Sports
Talk seven ninety kr D. I've got Shannon, of course,
Shannon the dude behind the glass. We've got two co
hosts with me again today not casting characters today, not today.
We've got Anthony, Anthony, Welcome to the show. How are you.
(00:48):
I'm good.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Anthony, where are you? I'm right here there you God,
just no casting kid, no casting characters. And the next gentleman,
mister intellectual, Alfred Butcher beer, no casting characters. It's not
George Williams and Anthony. I'm coach. I'm introducing you correctly.
How you doing, coach. Welcome to the show.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
I'm doing okay this morning, Jersey. It's a beautiful day
here in the New York area, so can't complain.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Well, I know one thing, waiting for you and Anthony
to answers like waiting for Christmas Jesus Christ. All right? Whatddy?
You sleep in your eyes? What's your problem with you two?
Not ready to go? Seven o'clock? Coach beer? You're a
military you six o'clock practices.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
You cut us off, didn't even respond your problem? Anthony?
Please you can you give us a chance? Hey, Anthony?
He plext me Anthony, Anthony. He texted me on my phone,
get up. But he at six forty two right now.
(01:56):
If I had my phone on at six forty who
you know, maybe I would have responded. Then I called
him back, I said, why did you text? You know?
I told you I was gonna talk to you. So
that's okay. It's just your father, don't worry. That's who
he is.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
All I know is this. Someone said that the gym
doors had to be open at Virgeymnasium at five am,
and you weren't opening those doors. That was me. So
somebody was walking out of that house a four point
thirty The apartment straight down Georgia Avenue to have those
doors open for the trainer at five o'clock. That was me.
(02:38):
So I've just lived under that creed coach of Beard.
I never was in the military, but I was in
your military, and I haven't changed. I'm an early bird,
period point blunt. So guys, I've gotten to rock and roll.
So look, I'm a thought to Anthony again, the young fellow,
to get the national news out.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
Of the way.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
We touched it yesterday, but we had so much which
that we really didn't go in depth to Scottie when
Scottish did, Scheffler did, winning the Open and all the
other things nuances of his win. So I'm gonna let
Anthony do that and talk about la family. Tell me, hey, shennon,
give me the correct pronunciation of the Lexington team.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
I mean, I'm probably the wrong person to ask for that.
I mean, it's it's not even you know, it's Spanish.
I don't speak Spanish, but I believe it's law familia.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Lat familiar. There you go, Anthony, You're gonna give us
the information on lat Familia and we'll go from there. Then,
Coach Beard, you and I everyone knows when Coach Beard
comes on. We usually have serious topics, So the two
serious topics today, of course, we're gonna start with President
Trump and the name engined likeness House representatives. We're going
to get into that serious topic. And then we're going
(03:53):
to also get into the Terry Rogier serious topic that's
far from over, and I want to present some of
the facts to my listeners so they'll have an opportunity
to understand what is truly going on and what transpired
with that Terry Rozier, a gambling situation that's going on
right now. So those are the serious topics. So Anthony,
(04:14):
we're gonna throw it to you. Of course, Coach Beer.
We've got great car shows going on this weekend and
next Hot Rock Nationals. I have Dave Hubron with me
on Thursday. We got a lot of things. We've got
Nolan Smith probably calling in tomorrow coach to talk about
his new head coaching position. So you know, we've got
a lot of things to touch. Shador Sanders and his
(04:35):
rookie Jersey even though I can't tell you what his
number is going to be, but Shador Sanders and two
hundred and fifty million in Jersey salesmaning fourteen million in commission.
So we got a lot to touch. We're gonna touch
first after Anthony does the National News, Anthony coach beer,
We're gonna get into this president's Trump and what's going
on with name infant likeness, and I just want to
(04:56):
give people some facts again, some facts. So hadn't you
I'm throwing it to you.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
So obviously we're getting into the TVT. We obviously know
a lot of familiar They do play to night at
six to play Evelyn Drive at six pm tonight. So
they're in round three of the tv T. There's still
a lot of teams in it left, so they still
have round three. Then they have quarterfinals, Final four, and.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
Then the finals.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
So honestly, to win this money, you gotta win about
five you win about six games in a row. They
know they don't make it.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
They don't make it.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
Easy, that's for sure.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
For all these guys that are out of shape.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
I don't know how they play it.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
All these games almost back to back days.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
But hey, they're better than me. I guess they.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Had a hard time crossing half court. I was at
the Little People game. They had a hard time crossing
half court. A lot of them, man, Coach Beard, players
are going to injure themselves out there playing in this
TVT trying to play full court basketball. Coach, they're gonna
injure themselves. I'm telling you. For a million dollars, Coach Beard,
(06:02):
that's not a million apiece. That's a million for the team.
That might be sixty or seventy thousand per platter. If
you win, if you win, win, if you win.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
So if they play, if they played five or six games,
so they're making two hundred thousand, they're making two hundred
thousand per game. As a team. Okay, that's a team.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Yeah, I understand. I see your math. I'm not saying
it's correct, but I see your math.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I like to see him fight over
that money. Okay, go ahead, Anthony.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
I wish it will, wish it will, go ahead.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
And hey, look man, you don't realize all these players
aren't making as much money as you think overseas. So
this is probably the most money we'll see all year.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
They got to see it first, Anthony, You got to
win first to see it. That's faith.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
Okay, sometimes you can't see it sometimes just walk by faith,
now by sight obviously, you don't know if we're gonna
win it out.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
But nobody's going.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
Into the tournament and be like, oh man, we're gonna
We're gonna lose in round three. No, everybody thinks they
can win.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
That's why they're still here.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
I got you, Coach Bear. Their belief factor is more
than mine because I see their bodies and Coach Beard.
For them to play back to back games, I'm not
gonna happen. It's not gonna happen, that's all. There's a little.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
Different than you playing in nineteen eighty for.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
Zero dollars and zero sis nineteen eighty I was puaying
in college and then Anthony, I know there were no dollars.
That's why that's why I fight for the money today.
I got robbed.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
They're trying to play for money, but it's but you
have to understand it's not. It's not all about EVT money.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
You gotta realize a.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
Lot of these guys are getting contracts off of this tournament.
There's more that comes to it than just TV two
prize money. A lot of got contracts overseas contracts.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
Oh well, Coach Beard, I think he may be right
on that. I'm gonna tell you this, though, Coach Beard,
A lot of these players, and I mean off numerous teams.
When you recently said they were playing overseas, Coach Beard,
I don't know what leaves they're playing in. I have
no idea much they're making. But Coach, their bodies do
not say they were playing in any leagues anywhere period
(08:20):
at all. That's all I'm saying, Anthony, I've been doing
it all my life. Coach Beard, I look like I'm
in better shape than half the players that I watched
play at Louisville the four games. Seriously, I'm just being
honest with you. I don't know where these guys are playing.
The coach Overseas must be an awful league now because
when we watched them, and Anthony, you watched them, Coach Beard,
(08:43):
they're more air balls they made shots, Come on, they're
more turnovers, ball dropped out of bounds and assists. That's
just the truth. So I don't know what leagues they're
playing in, Coach I really don't. When I played overseas, Coach.
When I played in the Philippines, Coach Beard, I averaged
forty plus a game, and I was in I played
the entire game, every game, So I don't know what
leagues they're playing in anymore, Anthony, because their bodies do
(09:06):
not say that they're in shape. And you know that
he tells the truth. Do their bodies look like they're
in shape.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
No, I wasn't disagreeing with you. I'm just saying there
is so many niques overseas that you do know that
half of these players they go over there and everyone
says they're a professional athlete. Half the players are out
there honestly probably breaking even if not losing money. Just
to Sayfesson app.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
Yes, yes, yes, I made your brother go play in Cheshire, England,
Anthony coach beer Frankie, and he didn't want to go.
He says, they're only going to pay me fifteen hundred
a month. I said it, Frankie, you got your degree.
You're going for the experience. You get to see the
world for free. He was twenty two years old, and
he did and it was a great experience and he
was going to go back. He injured himself and one
(09:51):
thing leads to another wind up being on the amazing race.
But he wasn't going for the money. There was no money.
So I want people to know when you hear these
guys they're playing overseas. Anthony's telling you, right, they're making
four hundred and fifty bucks a week, six hundred dollars
a week. They're not making money. Guys. Again, it's another lie,
but people love to believe it, and players loved to
(10:12):
live to themselves. But that is the truth. They're not
making a lot of money.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
No, but so, but Frankie's experience is entirely different than
some of these guys. These guys are desperate to make
some money, what little bit of money that it is.
And so therefore that if what Anthony is saying, yeah,
well basketball is bad everywhere and they should get in shape,
(10:38):
you know, because they auditioning for a job. But they
don't look at it like that.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
No, No, Coach Beer, that second game, Peelayers had a
hard time crossing half court. Just watch the games. I
mean people did we know? So anyway, Coach I just
don't understand. I said yesterday the word professionalism. Hmm, I
don't see it. I just don't. And Coach Beard, you
and I have been in this business for a living,
(11:06):
college and higher our entire lives, and I don't care
anybody says them players get a lot of themselves. They're
not playing, they're not in pro they're not professional condition,
they're not working on their bodies, they're not. So it
is what it is. Coach. We have to move on. Now, Anthony,
what tell us about Scotty? How now, Coach Beard, is
this crazy one and ninety seven days from major number
(11:30):
one for Scotty to Major number four, that's exact same
days as Tiger. Now, hey, that's crazy, Coach Beer, you
have to admit that's a crazy stat for them to
land the exact same And do you think Scotty is
going to make the Tiger run? First you, Coach Beard?
Then Anthony, who knows golf? Cause you don't know anything
(11:52):
about golf. But that's all right. I'm not gonna tell
people who don't does he make a tiger rot?
Speaker 2 (11:58):
I right, like I called you Sunday and I said,
is this guy so much better than everybody else? And
you said, yes, Okay, I talked to you and God
heard about golf. Okay, I don't know much about it,
but he's so far better than everybody else. And mentally,
when guys start to say, you know, when he has
(12:20):
the leaderboard and we're all playing for a second, he
has mentally beaten them. Okay, so unless he gets unless
he gets you know, injured, because golf is a crazy
sport and it messes with your body, he has a
chance to make a run.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
He does. I mean, Coach Beer, I just I hate
saying it because his technique, golf, Coach, you have to
hit it on the correct spot on the club. Anthony
knows this. The way he's dancing when he's swinging, his
feet is moving. His footwork is awful. I don't know, Coach,
He's the most consistent bad golfer I've ever seen in
(13:01):
my life. I mean, if you look at traditional footwork,
his is awful. He dances when he swings. He hits
that ball, did center that club face the exact way
he wants to ninety eight percent of the time. It's amazing, Coach,
it really is. But I still say if he gets
a little twisted, and it happens with every golfer, Coach Beer,
(13:22):
he gets a little twisted, I think that he'll fall
back into the pack. But right now he's the best
golfer in the world. It's not close. Roy McElroy's second,
It's not close. Like Roy said, it's not close. So Anthony,
what do you think about Scotty his performance minus seventeen?
Speaker 3 (13:42):
You know, and I think it's hard for us to
even realize in a lot of sports because all of
our favorite players are starting to get older and retired
and kind of dropping out of that athletic race. Scotti
Scheffler not putting in comparison, but he is kind of
close to our modern day Tiger Woods when it comes
to a skill aspect. Now, does he have the same
amount of hypeotime brings maybe to a tournament, not necessarily
(14:03):
not yet. You know, when Tiger shows up. If Tiger
were playing at Valhalla, which he did, it was sold out.
Is old Scotty show play no matter how good, No
matter how good or bad Tiger Woods was, you just
want to see him play because the name.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
Is so iconic.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
Scottie Schaffler's skill level is hot. His name just doesn't
have the same level iconicness as Tiger Woods does. But
when it comes to a skill set aspect, he can
compete at the highest level if we've seen him do so.
He is running across the PGA scene. Over the last
two years. He wins tournaments at a very high number,
which is hard to do in golf. When he's winning
thirty three percent of the tournaments he plays, and that's
(14:37):
an unreal number for golf. That's unreal, unreal, Yeah, and
so crazy thing. It's hard for us to get to
that point. It's the same thing for basketball too. Like
I saw a chart yesterday, all of our favorite players
about to retire. Kevin Durant's thirty six years old, step Period,
thirty six, Lebron forty. You know, the list goes on
(14:58):
at all Chris Paul forty years old, Guys that we've
known and grown up on, that we've seen over the
last decade decade and a half. They're kind of falling
off the board now. So people are having to find
kind of new superstars and new faces of the NBA
and new faces of the NFL playing to those roles
and then the switch accommodation is hard. It's hard for
me because I'm like, you know, I used to be
I used to be a huge Cam Newton fan and
(15:19):
the Panthers, and now our team's horrible. So I'm like, well,
I gotta kind of find somebody else to kind of
fill those shoes, because you know, my god's not there anymore.
So you know, I like Bryce Young and C. J. Shroud,
and you know, do they handle will they stand up
to those accomplishments of maybe a Cam Newton, I don't know.
Same thing with Scotti, Sheffeer and Tiger we don't know.
But as of right now, you kind of have to
(15:40):
enjoy their ride while they're there, because it's like we
passed it up so quickly. It feels like Lebron just
got drafted a few weeks ago, and then at the
same time he's been there for twenty years.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
Coach Beard, I told you my listeners a crazy Coach Beard.
It's just came across my phone. He's not gonna make
a run here, and he's running from the police.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
I don't think he's ever coming back.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
Anyway. Coach Beard, I didn't do it. I promise you
all that hit my phone, I promise you. Oh my goodness. Anyway, guys,
it's seven. We're gonna get to break Coach beerd when
we come back. We're gonna jump into what's going on
total with his name, image and likeness, situation with college,
(16:33):
and I'm gonna present to everyone just some real raw
numbers so that they'll understand the magnitude of why Jerry Ease.
Coach Beard says that we were robbed and I'm going
to prove it to you after the break. Esports Radio,
y'all stay with us. We got missed intellectual Alfred Butcher,
Beard and Anthony. Great job Anthony, not even for parade, Scott.
(16:58):
He's not coming back. We'll talk to you all in
a minute. Welcome back to any sports radio. Yes it
is seven six. I've got Coach Beard. Anthony's on the
line with me. Before we get into serious business, I
just want to Coach Beard. I played in Spaulding's golf
outing yesterday for Roger Berkman at prisimmin Ridge golf Course.
Turned out to be a beautiful day, Coach, no rain.
(17:21):
It was cart path golf, so we had to do
a little walking. But I'm healthy now, coach, so I
don't mind walking at all. I walk when I play.
But I was with a group, coach of great guys.
Most of the time, Coach Beard, people that have played
in these golf outings, they put you with groups and
sometimes it's like ah, Coach, I was with a group
of guys. Former judge Charles Cunningham watched you play, Coach,
(17:44):
got me. I mean we had a Blais in the
cart with me. We had a ball Coach Beard, Bobby
Cunningham and ed it was an A plus golfer, so
we had one A plus golfer Coach, but they used
my ball a few times. I was happy with the
way I play, Coach, But I'm gonna tell you what, guys,
we had a fantastic time. I appreciate you all letting
(18:04):
me be a part of your team. And Judge Cunningham
said he's gonna play in my Simmons golf outing this year,
and I just appreciate his donation to Spalding what he
was doing for the schools there. And Coach I didn't
even have to ask, and you know I would have asked. Coach,
he says, you just let me know when your golf
outing is. I'm in. Bobby always had a ball, but Coach,
(18:25):
I asked them. And I do this all the time
because everyone asked me, how is it traveling the NBA.
What was the difference those things? Got me? Ed asked
me that right off the bat. And everyone has questions
when you're kind of like the celebrity golfer about tell
us about what we hear about. But they just don't know, Coach,
they don't know. See, Jerry, you know I'm different. You
(18:45):
know I'm crazy. I asked them what was their favorite
game they watched? Okay, Bobby went to Kentucky and Louisville,
so I had he was splitting half. What was to
all of them? I ask him all the time, who
is your favorite player? Got me? Coach and cat fans,
(19:09):
you all would be super surprised that always go to
the BUI era A lot of people and listen to
love Dirk Minifield. I mean, that's my man. But honestly,
more people say Dirk then they say Jack. I'm just
telling you the truth. Well, Coach Bert, last yesterday I
asked them what was your favorite game? So I think
(19:31):
ed told me the eighty three Kentucky Louisville game when
Louisville made the comeback win in overtime, when Dirk Minifield
said he should have dunked on Charlotte on the Come on, Jerry,
my mind on. You know this is pitiful, Coach Beard,
I'm just gonna mind blake on Charlie. Oh, come on,
(19:54):
Coach Beer to let you know when you're getting old.
You are getting old. Center who's starting for his coach
took Wiley Brown's job. Wiley and Scuter went to the bench,
Lancaster Gordon and Charles Jones. Charles Joneses said he was
gonna dunk on Charles Jones. I was like, you weren't
dunking on Charles Jones. That was one of the games, Coach.
(20:16):
One of the games, Coach Beard, was your Houston Louisville loss.
He went back to that game yesterday. This is the truth,
he said, Boy, I was just heart broke with that
game when you all lost to Houston. One of course,
was the nineteen eighty champion game. He said, win in
it for the first time put us on the mark.
And he said a interesting statement, said we beat UCLA
(20:37):
iconic and we beat Duke in eighty six. They weren't
iconic at the time, but they are now. So he said,
those games, but Coach, we had a great time. Just
let you know. I asked him a lot of questions, Coach,
I just like to know. But yes, more people said
Dirk Minifield than Jack Gibbons, and that interested in Kentucky
really did so anyway, coach, our listeners, there it is.
(21:01):
We're gonna get into this situation where seven point thirty
I'm gonna lay it out for you, coach, We're gonna
go to break, and we're gonna come back with you
so that we stand our segments and you have plenty
of time. But we all understand that the payment of
these athletes has distracted people from the real issues. And
(21:23):
everyone is so fright with college going under and paying
the athletes is gonna break all the above. So I
want to give people before we go to break actual
numbers twenty funny thing when I wouldn't get my research
(21:44):
based on the nonprofit point nine ninety tax return. Let
me say that to you all again. Based on the
non profit Form nine tax return. Coach college athletes and
two athletics made thirteen point six billion. Let me read
(22:06):
that to you all again, based on the nonprofit Form
nine to ninety tax return. So guys, you don't understand
what I'm saying. Nonprofit college athletics made thirteen point six
billion in twenty twenty two, So guys, just give me
five years of that at sixty eight billion. We know
(22:29):
that there was not that we were not making thirteen
point six billion in nineteen eighty. I understand that, coach,
but I was looking for a rough formula. One person
has estimated over the last fifty years, college athletics has
made over two hundred and fifty billion dollars. Let's go
back to the nonprofit form nine to ninety. So when
(22:54):
we're looking at that kind of money, I want to
preface one more thing before we go to break In
twenty twenty two, athletics, by the nonprofit form nine to
ninety made thirteen point six billion. Let's break down professionally
Baseball ten point nine billion, the NBA nine point nine billion,
(23:15):
the National Hockey League six billion. We understand that the
NFL rules the roost, and they were at this is
twenty twenty two, around twenty two billion. So if we
put college athletics coach Beard in the spectrum with the
professional boys, they were seconds. But don't forget they're the
(23:37):
only ones that turn in non profit Form nine to
ninety tax returns. So, guys, like I've told you, this
has been a stam for over fifty plus years since
Walter Bauers called people student athletes and university started making
money over fifty years ago. Not thirteen point six billion, no,
(23:57):
but a lot of money. So when you start to
look at the colleges, Coach Beer and I want people
to remember these numbers. If you go to the high
priced schools, you've got some schools that report they made
over two hundred million last year. The Texas is the
big boys. Got me the SEC schools with those huge
football revenues, right, Coach Beard, University of Louisville, University Kentucky,
(24:19):
they're in that one hundred and twenty to that one
hundred billion, forty million dollar range a year. Just to
let you all know, this has been going on for years.
So before we start crying in our milk for the colleges,
oh the colleges, I just wanted to give you all
some of the numbers based upon the non profit Form
(24:41):
nine to ninety tax return. So, coach, we're gonna go
to break. When we come back, we're gonna throw it
to President Trump. What they're talking about within the executive order.
He should stay out of it, period point blank. The
college you should do it. We're going to get into
that after the break. This is Evesports Radio. Y'all stay
with us. We'll be back with Coach Beer's opinion, talk
(25:03):
to you in a minute. Welcome back to Sports Radio
seven thirty seven. Welcome back. I am the brand of
course Coach Beer and Anthony, and we're not leaving you out. Anthony.
We want to get your young perspective. Coach Beer, you
heard the numbers. Okay, you heard the numbers based upon
the nonprofit Form nine ninety TAXI turn. I want you
(25:26):
to tell me what you think. First thing, and foremost,
the federal government has more important things to do. Since
twenty twenty three December twenty twenty three, Coach Beer, thirty
one point thirty one point five trillion dollars in dead
twenty four point six trillion held by the public. Okay,
we have other things to do, President Trump, you do
have other things to do. You really do. So getting
(25:49):
back to why everyone's asking for help, Coach why is
it such a big deal that no one wants to
share this kind of crazy revenue? Is my only issue,
and after you and giving your point of view, I'm
going to solve this thing for people. I'm going to
make it easy for him. This formula that no one
can come up with, I'm going to give you the formula.
I told you this morning, but I'm going to give
it to everybody before we leave today. So coach, your
(26:12):
opinion President Trump speaking about this executive order, should he
do that? I say no. Secondly, the House of Representatives
has created the Score Act, the score scr Act, which
is student compensation and opportunity to do rights and endorsements.
So coach, I'm throwing it to you from there. I've
(26:34):
given you enough information, Jerry.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
You know, through all of this, all we've talked about
is money, right, and we're talking about institutions of higher education.
We have yet to hear anybody talk about getting a degree,
going to school, all right, And back when I came along,
that was the only thing they talked about. And we
(27:01):
tried as student athletes to get a you know, to
get an education, get a degree, and then if you
played professionally, it was like icing on the cake. Now
all you hear is money, money, money. I think you
sent me something about what the Texas football coach stated.
(27:23):
You know, you come to Texas for the culture, you know,
for the experience, and not for the money. And and
they spend more money on players than anybody in college athletics.
Speaker 1 (27:36):
So coach, I sent you in the forum telling them
they had five Malesaratis out front, came on campus. That's Ferraris.
Excuse me, that's all.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
So I'm trying. So I'm trying to understand exactly what
we are talking about here, you know, I really am.
I'm trying another. I am trying to understand it because
you can't have it both ways. You can't. You can't
(28:16):
give all the money, okay, all the money to your
coaches and no money to the players, or you give
all the money to the players and no money to
the coaches. I mean, this thing, this thing has gotten
to be really crazy. I thought you a long time
(28:36):
ago about players getting paid.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
You did.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
I'm glad, Yes, I'm glad they're getting paid because with
this amount of money that's you know that out there,
you know, they should share it with the people who
you know, who helped these universities make money. They should
share it because they.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
Do. Some of the fans also coached. So here's off
the pool. I want the fans. I want the fans
to understand where does this money come from. The first
pool is network slash media. I researched this coach. I
did all day with this. That's the first pool of
crazy money network slash Media. The second pool of money
is conference in the NC DOUBLEA, your affiliation, that is
(29:21):
your Bowl games, that's your basketball NC DOUBLEA men and
women's basketball tournament. Right, the women's tournament the last three
years has turned a profit. It did not before then,
but the last three years it has got me. The
third pool of money are the donations coach, and ticket
sales by the fans is the third pool of money.
Those are the three pools of money, coach, that we're
(29:44):
talking about.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
But the fans, you're paying that money to be entertained. Okay, okay,
they're paying that money to be entertained. So that's a
different you know, that's a different category in itself. I
just find it fascinating that, you know, you, you hear
(30:06):
all these administrators talking about, well, the players are making
too much money, shouldn't be making any money. They're getting
an education, and I haven't heard of it about I
haven't heard anything about a player, you know, getting a
dog on degree and moving on. I really haven't.
Speaker 1 (30:24):
Well, because that's now I'm not going to throw the
universities under the bus. Coach progress, yeah, degree, no, but
coach the players have to progress. They are getting their
greed degrees at a higher rate than the regular students.
I can't let you do that.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
They are that's always Jerry, that's Jerry. That's been that's
always been the case.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
Anyway, something a date now, that's only the last twenty years, coach,
and not back in our day, coach, Coach Beer. I
have to be honest. Coach Crumb took a lot of
fly because early on a lot of his players were
not graduating. It hit public news was on sixty minutes.
I can't give you that one. And then since then
they worked. You got yours, what centil gods, But that
(31:07):
was not the average coach I got. Mine was on
a five year plan. But I got it. But that
is not Coach Beard. That's not a true statement. It
is now. It was not then. Can't give you that.
Mm hmm. It is now. So you got to give
credit for that. You got to give him credit for that.
But I'm still saying this money issue, Okay. President Trump
(31:28):
says that he's going to maybe a point, maybe maybe
we are that Nick Saban and yeah, I know, and
the Texas tech billionaire Kobe Campbell. He may establish a
board okay, with those two guys on it, and all
the two people publicly, you can go google this. Nick
(31:49):
Saban and his wife were in front of Congress, I
do believe, a group and they were speaking about this
three or four years ago before the players got paid,
and Nick's wife said publicly that they had a bunch
of recruits at their lake house on their lake boat.
I want to give you an example of this, the
(32:09):
lake house and the lake boat that they were on enjoying,
having fun, jet skiing, all those things being pulled behind
this fast, fancy boat was more than any of the scholarships,
all of the scholarships on the football team that year.
But she says publicly, this is Nick Saban's wife, that
all the parents talked about were money. But yes, dang
(32:30):
it can come on, yes, don't you think they should
want some? Don't you think they should want the boats
and the lake houses and the jet skis? No, that
was the only no. No coach Beard, when I've already
told you all for a fact or a two hundred
and fifty billion dollars was made before athlete got a dime,
(32:52):
And if an athlete got a dime, then he was
thrown out. With the bath water, and we know that
coach he was thrown out with the bath water. So
I just want to let people's opinions true opinions. How
crazy is that at the lake House? Not their real house,
the lake House, and we don't know how many houses
Nick Saven has, but his wife was upset that the
(33:14):
moms were talking about the money. Get away from me,
Coach Beard.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
That the same house. Is that the same house that
Alabama bought for him, so that he can relax.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
Do exactly exactly, Coach Beard. All I'm telling people is
that when you hear executives part of the NCAA speaking
as a former student athlete, it's comical and ignorant period
point blank, and arrogant period period point blank. So again
(33:46):
I've said this, Coach Beard, you and I have done
extremely well. I'm the most blessed person. I have stole
more money through athletics through my relationship with you, Derek
Smith and west Unsel. I mean, Louisville was great for me.
That's why I stand up for Louisville. Coach Beard. People
always are and Cody, you're a little negative. No, I'm
(34:07):
just not gonna say good things about people. They didn't
do good things. I'm not doing this period, Go somewhere else.
Don't come to Jerry's for that, not doing that. And
we're gonna get to this Terry Rogier because that's another
athlete that is putting a benchmark on Louisville athletics. That's
not good. But you know, nobody wants to say that.
And what era he played under, We'll have another street
(34:30):
named after somebody. Coach Beard, coach. I'm just not the one,
but I do know that I've benefited from sports. But
this nine being paid and listening to people and their
ideologies are crazy. So if y'alln't think over two in
the bion dollars is not enough to be made for
free before you truly paid the athletes, you got to
(34:51):
be crazy. And why is it in America? I want
somebody to tell me that when the bottom finally gets paid.
Dang it, We've got everybody. We've got the President of
the the United States talking about two hundred million dollars,
two hundred billion. Excuse me, we got thirty one point
five tree and we've got more than that. It's over
forty three. And I know that. I'm just telling you
all from the number I pulled. Come on, guys, when
(35:15):
the bottom in America gets paid, it is time to
end a coach, and I'm going to preach it until
the end. It makes no sense. The athletes are finally
making a piece of this bottom dweller pie that they're getty.
Here's what needs to happen. Sorry about this an, you
got to listen and learn. Coach beer is real simple
(35:36):
before we go to break and get onto Terry Rozier.
First thing, it is a university coach, and they should
be paid for the degrees that they're soliciting when they
come in as freshmen and they choose the major. There
should be certain majors that make more than others, and
they should be paid upon that. And if they get
excellent grades, not the coaches. Guys, We paid coaches for
(35:56):
players' grades. How stupid is that? As stupid as it gets,
I'm just telling you, as dumb as it gets, then
they should make more. Second piece, just like we know,
we've got the network money, the conference money, the school money.
Second piece is future talent. Yes, we're paying for kids
that we don't know if they'll be good or not.
(36:16):
That's a piece of it. They need to get a
group of guys together that understand athletics. A Butcher Beard,
a late great Jerry West, pat Riley, A West until
the late great people, a Dan Issel that have been
in this business. Every university has players that know the business.
They're late great junior bridgemand got me, coach Beer and
come up with a pay skill for them coming into school,
(36:39):
period point blank? What a freshman Dall's all American makes?
What are two star makes? Come up with it? Boom
across the board. The third piece is, coach, when players
do produce in games, which is what we want to see,
they should be paid for when they produce big in games, Coach,
they should get bonuses. We want to see great basketball.
(36:59):
Pay them for a game, for great games, pay them,
coach Beer, got me? We pay coaches for x amount
of wins. We pay coaches for advancing in the NCAA tournament.
Pay the players, period point like. This isn't hard, coach.
And the last piece is if you stay on the
course with your university, just like the NBA, and you
stay your team for four years, coach, you get another bonus,
(37:22):
period point blank. How hard was that you can do that?
Coach Beer? We could do that in a week and
we could come up with it correct numbers and get
this thing done. That's all they have to do. Nobody
wants to share the money. So we are on this BS.
So we have our president talking about it, and we've
got a House of representatives, congressmen talking about it. Because
college peop don't want to share the money their centers,
(37:45):
that's all. So coach ber don't want to let you
finish it before we go to break What do you
think so we can touch this Terry Rozier deal? What
do you think needs to happen? Does President Trump need
to stay out of it?
Speaker 2 (37:59):
He just stay out of that lane. We already know that. Okay,
I still you know you you've said the same thing
that I've said to you time and time again. If
the n C two A would have paid these kids
by their five star rating for star rating and whatever,
you know, and it would have come out to about
a million dollars right off the bat, most of these
(38:21):
kids would have stayed because, you know, a million dollars
at that time was something that they never even dreamed of.
Now they want a million dollars just to come to
your university. And now the universities are crazy about giving
them a million dollars. So deal with it the way
you can, and that is pay the kids. Just that simple.
Speaker 1 (38:46):
Broke. We already seen Nico Leolava, Nico the quarterback Tennessee
said no, how about to a pay cut? When university
say no, they will set the pay scale, Coach, which
is fine, Which is fine, that's all. They're not gonna
pay what they don't have. That they're not trusts me.
So let's get the break, Coach. When we come back,
(39:06):
we've got to talk about mister Rosier. After the break,
Eastworth's Radio, we talk to you in a second. Welcome
back to East Words Radio, Coach, Beard. Here's the difference.
You gotta get back up tomorrow. Coach. Can't be sleeping
the NBA because the rose Yer is a whole story, Coach.
The Rosier is the whole story. Anthony knows it's a
(39:28):
whole story. It's a whole show. And I don't want
to rush your coach. I don't. It's just so much
to this nursia. So you gonna have to get back
up and listen to this segment, Coach, because you know,
coachbur what do you think you've got two minutes. The
state of the game right now. The state of the game,
(39:49):
where is it?
Speaker 2 (39:51):
Jerry, I really don't know. I'm talking about, you know,
professionally and non professionally. I don't know where where the
game of basketball is. It's not pretty to watch. Uh.
I don't know if the kids, you know, at a
very early age are being taught the fundamentals of how
to play. I know they can't pass the ball. If
(40:14):
they don't if they if they can't throw a lot pass,
they don't know what other paths to make. All they
all they've been able to improve upon is, you know,
is shoot threes. And we got everybody shooting threes. We
got damn sinners thirty five feet from the hoop. It's
(40:34):
just you know, six foot seven feet tall. I've never
seen anything like that in my life.
Speaker 1 (40:42):
The scoring was at one. If they're at one forty
a game, I would say, I love to change, but
they're not. And you're right, seven footers. Everybody living on
a three point line, Coach, everybody's evaluated by shooting the three.
So coach, listeners, well, tomorrow we're going to get into
I really am to break it down, coach. So they
can understand what's transpiring so people can make their own decision.
(41:06):
And we've got to talk about your Doris Sanders. And
then it's the NFL season that's coming on, Coach, because
I'm excited about that. So go to Bend on time tonight, Coach.
And I'm praying for your brother. I'm gonna let you
talk about that tomorrow. What's going on with your brother, Coach,
no question, We're praying, all right, Eastwoods Radio, Anthony, you
get to work, Coach, Beards, you get up, get some
(41:28):
breakfast in you, and I'll talk to you all tomorrow.
God willing love you. Bye bye, Lady Beard
