Speaker 1 (00:01):
You have to love to laugh. Welcome back to EVE
Sports Radio. It is July thirtieth, twenty twenty five. Yes
it is. It's Wednesday in the Louisville area. We're gonna
have a fantastic, beautiful day. Not as warm as it
has been. It's been dangerously warm, so continue to be safe,
but a beautiful day outside. We've got a great show
in store for you. Of course, you all do know
(00:22):
that this is Eve Sports Radio seven ninety KRD. We've
got Shannon the dude behind the glass. The telephone number
is five zero two five seven one seventy nine hundred.
This is Sports Talk seven ninety and I'm ready to
rock and roll. So let's just bring on my little
co host doing a great job improving daily. I think
(00:45):
his voice might even be better than mine, but I'm
gonna take credit for it. Let's bring on Anthony Eaves
to the show from me. Shannon. Please.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Yeah, we know you had to put your little two
sisters in there on that one.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
I'm always gonna take credit, don't forget it. That's just
the name of the game, Anthony always. So anyway, how
was here yesterday? Were you busy? I know I was, oh,
I was.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
An industry I work in.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
We're always busy. It's put it like that.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
It's it's days going and Monday, half the day our
internet was down. Spectrums had an outage throughout Louisville. I
don't know if it affected everyone. I know it was
out a little bit in PRP and Fern Creek area,
and then it was out when we were a little
bit in Saint Matthew. So we were behind half the
day Monday and playing catch up yesterday. So it's been
a busy couple of days getting things together.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
There you go, well, excellent. Well here's the deal. It's
never out for me, Anthony. I have to work no
matter what. I have to find a way. I can't
say the internet is a problem now. It does cut
me off sometimes, but other than that, I have to
push through. Here's what we've got really soon, Anthony, we're
gonna have a gentleman calling in. That was at the
(01:59):
Fairgrounds this morn and ended about three thirty four in
the morning. Guys, I told you all this National street rids.
You ought to understand it's madness. But people were lined
up up in front of the fair Ground's main entrance
at three thirty four in the morning. I'm going to
let him tell you. The line was so long that
they were backing up the expressway. They had to let
(02:21):
him in early. So we will be having Martin Dunbar,
my roommate who has got a beautiful Nova. He lets
me know he pulled it in front of my home. Yes.
Over the weekend. People are riding by on their bike
saying how nice the car is. It's got a beautiful
I think it's a sixty six Nova, Anthony, but it's
really really nice California car, really nice. So he's ready.
(02:43):
They are ready. Cars are from everywhere. We'll be here,
so he's going to tell us about the process just
to register. Then I'm hoping, Anthony, I still got my
fingers crossed, toes, cross eyes crossed, everything crossed that Randy
Widell will call it. I will tell his story either way.
(03:03):
I'm just hoping that he will do it. I can't
do it the justice that he would, but I will
still tell our audience the story because inspirational is not
the word. They need to know about what this young
man went through. Great high school career with University of
Alabama when the racial barrier was being broken, played through
(03:24):
that along with African American athletes. I've got some great stories.
I'm hoping he will tell you these stories. But he
told me some crazy stories that I will tell you
all about. Also that he's had health issues. He's been
fighting battling cancer. Anthony. They didn't make them. He's a
really good friend of Kybby Harrison, just like I am.
(03:45):
They didn't make them like this guy. Tell you that, Anthony.
So I hope Randy will call him, but if not,
I want to tell that story. Have to, And then
we'll throw the Nasser news to you. We've got to
get to the shooter with this chronic trauma and silothopy cte,
(04:05):
and we'll go through that issue. Targeting the NFL headquarters, Anthony,
which I've told you all. I've been to the building,
not a thousand times, but I've been to the building
ten times.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
And.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Boy, it's just a crazy world. And the note that
the young man left stating why he was doing this,
and we'll talk about that some. And then we're going
to listen to Coach Kelsey. I mean, coach has done
a great job talking about the University of Louisville's basketball
team is not Ducky the smoke, So can't wait to
(04:42):
hear that segment towards the end of the show with
his scheduling, what he's trying to do. I'm telling you,
Michail Brown, Anthony is the real deal. The kid is
really good. I'm really excited to watch him play, and
this should be a super exciting year for the Cardinals.
So we've got a lot to get into anyway, First
(05:02):
and foremost, Shannon, whenever anybody calls, let me know, cut
me off, Anthony, I'm gonna throw it to you so
that you can kind of start the national news segment.
And then when anybody calls in Shannon, just let me
know and I'll go from there. So share, Anthony, I'm
throwing it to you. Tell me about national news. What's
going on.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
Yeah, And we're going through one of those periods, you know,
sports has kind of slowed down for us, starting to
revamp things up going into the end of August. I know,
one of the biggings we talk about in the local
sports that we have and I say local in the
NFL round this is our local team.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
One of them.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Obviously the Cincinnati Bibles with the big holdout that they
had with Skrey Hendrickson in his new contract that he
was trying to sign. Everybody knows Tree Hendershek is the
reigning sack leader last year for the Cincinnati being was
a seventeen and a half. He's being fined fifty thousand
dollars a day that he is being missed now of
training camp. He's trying to negotiate that new contract to
(05:57):
pay him a little bit more money than what he
was getting paid before. But the Bengals said they are
coming to an agreement soon to hopefully get him signed
and into training camp before the opening season comes up soon.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
And the following is supposed to be coming today, supposed
to be coming today, Anthony. They had the news on
that he's supposed to be reporting today or tomorrow. Yes,
that's great news to the Bengals.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Yes, that fine showing up. I never show up until
fifty thousand a day and they say, you know, oh.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
He's reported to show up to camp today. It's funny.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
You know, money makes people do things they normally don't do,
and even when it comes to jobs.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
Well, Anthony, I would have ever missed a day with
that kind of fine. I just would not have participated
I'd have pulled a Parsons in Dallas. I would have
shown up so they couldn't find me. I just wouldn't
participate until I got my contract. Right. But Anthony, we
already have a caller, so we're gonna hold it right there.
We're gonna get to Martin Dunbar. He is out at
(06:54):
the fair Grounds. I was telling you all about he's
got a beautiful nova. Martin Walker es Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
Are you good? How you doing, Jerry?
Speaker 1 (07:03):
I'm excellent. Everybody knows that Martin. This guy here has
been my best friend since I golly, Anthony probably nine
years old, and I've had to carry him. I've carried him, Anthony,
I've carried this boy. He owes me like crazy. Everybody
talks about all the money that we got when we're
at Louisville and Kentucky players and how much we were
(07:24):
being paid. And Martin used to take the money off
my dresser. Anthony, Well, I was being.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
Paid somebody and.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
Go eat it masters, and he was taking somebody I
was getting from the big time boosters. What do you
mean confused?
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Yeah, yeah, you were still with my money. You know
what my little food want. I had a job, Hey,
I was your ni l money, Martin.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
Yeah, here's here's the funny thing, because everybody, Anthony, you're young,
but you heard all the all the money that athletes
were getting in the old days, and how much that
one hundred dollars handshakes it we were getting from boosters
and all those things. Any everybody believed that, and they
believe that I was legitimately taking money of Martin's dresser
(08:20):
to eat Martin. And that's that's the truth, you all,
Martin Dumbart. Is that the truth. And I I mean
my last two and a half years, I rob Martin.
That's just y. You were my name himton likeness. You're
not getting in of it back, though, Martin.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
That's all there's.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
I'm just like A. I'm like, didn c double A.
I know nothing, I see nothing. I'm I'm claiming anything.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
Two point five I got you.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
So that so everybody knows, Now, Martin, when Mark Clayton
and I tell you that we used to pool our
money together to get kings.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
That's right. You didn't have any choice.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
We had no choice. So anyway, Martin, what's going on
out there? You've been out at the fair grounds with
this car show, registration is today. What time did you
get out there this morning?
Speaker 3 (09:17):
I got out here about quarter to four, four o'clove, okay, And.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
People, how deep were you in line? How deep were
you in line?
Speaker 3 (09:27):
I was deep. I was probably about a quarter mile
back from the entrance. So apparently some people were out here,
probably camped up, uh since Mike Lennon's last night, and
they probably came.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
And yeah, came straight from Mike Glenn's. I heard that.
I haven't talked to Dave Hubert, but I heard that
they had over seven hundred cars that might Is that
a Craig statement at Mike Lenning?
Speaker 3 (09:53):
Yeah that I talked to one guy who was setting
up next to us, and uh, he said they had
They announced that they had seven hundred out there last night.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
Mm hmm. Mark. When I left, there was probably two
hundred beautiful cars and they were rolling in when I left.
But I'm glad for the fundraiser. I'm sure people like
I myself all day they had too. It looked like
boots that firemen would wear, and you'd put your donation
in the boots. And when I put my donations in,
(10:22):
the boots were full. So I'm glad and that was
probably the turning in fifty cars. So I'm sure they
raised a lot of money.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
Hey, Jery, Jared, you said the boot was full when
you put your money in. Yeah, so in other words,
the boot wasn't full when you put your money in
as you took it out.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
No, I did not take it out. I beat you,
that's yeah, I know you.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
I probably probably beat the cluse aid last night. No
I did not.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
I did not.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
I made a donation right next to Hey, Anthony, check
check his dress's probably some cash laying up on there.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Out there. You don't have your name on it, dunbar.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
That's all, that's right.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
Dave Huber took me to where I could make my
donation before I left. Nancy, Oh, Martin, Nancy fit me. Well,
that's the owner and I'm not. Mike Lennings and the boy.
I ate so good. The wings are so good, Martin.
The clam chowder was crazy good. The frog legs, Martin, yes,
you got there because.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
I ate those first, right, I know, I know. That's all.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
I just want to let you know, just thought i'd spread,
you know, share the wealth with you. Martin. The frog lager,
it's incredible. So and I ate for free. But I
did make a donation, Martin. Wasn't your money. Wasn't your
money forty years ago? But I did take your money.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
I think it was. It's multiplied since then. You talk
about interest.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
I started saving it when I went pro. I wasn't
saving your money. I was eating on your money, Martin.
So everyone knows. Yes, there were rule violations broken at
the University of Louisville. I stole Martin's money office dresser.
After I did, Yeah, and I went and I used
to go to Masterson's which was about three blocks away Anthony,
and get what I needed, just the truth. So Martin,
(12:16):
we now told the truth. We know who is paying Jerry.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
Eaves, Right, Martin, I want my money back.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
Not gonna happen anyway. Let's move on. What now you've
got your spot. They let you all in. You were
backing up the expressway, so they let you all in early.
Is that a great statement? Correct?
Speaker 3 (12:34):
They let us in about five thirty. Uh, use us
about six thirty and uh but yeah, cars were backing
up on the ram towards the expressway on the Water Center.
So the uh, the Metro police officers, they they had
them to open up the gates before they started a
traffic dam out there. And uh, that's that's interesting part
(12:59):
of the morning. When they open those gates, man, it's
like somebody's opened a tidal wave. Cars, trucks, trailers, every
everybody's trying to get stuff into unloaded because this is
the actual only day that you.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
Can bring.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
A non historic vehicle in a right, So people have
trucks and trailers that they can bring in doing the show.
You can't do that.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
So if you have to bring in the actual car,
you must bring in your car and that has to
be over twenty years old, correct. I think they told
me over years old. Okay, all right, we'll not be
able to enter the fair grounds, correct, come on, okay.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
And so but yeah, everybody's trying to get their spots
and tents set up. You have the big tents going up,
little tents going up, people unloading their scooters and things
like that, Okay, to get set up for because tomorrow's
(14:02):
the big show.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
Will to be crazy out there, Martin. I mean it's
all crazy atmosphere, oh.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
For sure, for sure, because people like I say, people,
there's some good spots because it gets kind of hot
on that asphalt. So there are some good spots out
here to get if you can find some vegetation, that's
what that's what people want. So I can stay a
little cool.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
Yeah, it's gonna be warm, but Mark, y'all have a
beautiful weekend in store. You have a beautiful weekend. You're
not gonna have a heat problems. Truly.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
It's cool right right, But it depends on the rain Thursday.
That's that's the key. When when it hits.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
Can't have it all, Martin, just wipe your cars.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
Well, you know, can't have it. Well, these guys don't
like getting the cars with I.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
Know that one of the cars that they have. I
understand it. But it is what it is, Martin. It's
an outside event. You're gonna have over ten thousand cars there.
What kind of car do you have? Markin? Before I
let you go, what kind of car?
Speaker 3 (15:04):
I've got a sixty seven Nova.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Sixty I would say sixty six sixty seven Nova ext.
I'll be coming back to get the keys. I'll drive
it tonight. Make sure it's ready to go.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
Uh, that's fine. I just make sure you bring that
little snake by so I can drive it.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
Now you're turning about the car up. I'll never let
you in my car. Get I'm not gonna tell her
what you did to my car. No, that's not that's
for off air. Well anyway, Martin, I appreciate you letting
us know. Guys, if you if you can get out
to the fairgrounds, you're gonna see phenomenal cars. You'll see
something that are nineteen thirties, forties, fifties, sixties. You're gonna
(15:47):
see beautiful cars from the original four Days. So anyway, Martin,
appreciate you letting us know what was going on getting
into the rounds this morning. And I will see you
at the event on Saturday. Thank you, Mark. See so
now Anthony, Now the world knows. Yep, I guess University
(16:07):
Louis was in trouble because I stole my roommates money
off his dresser and I did Anthony anthy I did.
Wasn't my fault on Anthony. He would work parties, he knows,
this is true. Sometimes he indulged in the alcohol more
than he served Anthony, so he would come in. He
was easy pickings, that's all. It's easy pickings. Anybody know
(16:29):
Martin Dunbar. He's a Greek guy that's been big all
his life, and he was big at eight eight. But
he would come in and sometimes he would indulge with
the people that he was serving the drinks to, and
he was easy pickings and I had to get my money.
I was hungry. So anyway, we're gonna go to break
at seven twenty three, I'm reaching out one more time. Randy. Please,
(16:51):
I'm gonna tell your story, but I sure wish you would.
This is Eavesworts Radio numbers five zero, two, five seven, one,
seventy nine hundred. We'll talk to you all in them.
It welcome back to even Sports Radio seven six, Anthony.
I'm gonna let you finish up. We're gonna as a
short segment on the national news. We just talked about
(17:11):
and sitting with the Bengals, and he should be arriving
at camp today or tomorrow from what ESPN has said
this morning, Anthony. But what else do we have national
news wise? Before we go to break and we come back,
and I'm gonna speak about Randy Wydell, great player at
Pleasureridge Park, All State, nineteen seventy and seventy one. I
(17:33):
want to tell people this story. I was hoping that
he would but Randy. I'm just praying that you'll call me.
But I will still do the best that I can,
even though I will not do you justice trying to
tell your story. But people do need to know what
you have accomplished, and what your life's been, and what
you've done with your children and what they're doing, and
(17:54):
all the great things that you've had happened in your life.
But Anthony, let's finish the National News please.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
Yeah, of course, it is one of the last things
I want to get into. A topic we hit a
few days ago. There's the five sleepers who could could
possibly win the highsman this year coming up for college football,
and out of the five, I want to know who
you think has the best probability out of these five
because I think some of these are actually good sleepers.
So on here we got Carson Back, the quarterback from Miami.
(18:23):
Then we have Loora Jellers, Yeah, Leonora Sellers, quarterback at
South Carolina Julians saying, quarterback at Ohio State. Then you
got John Mester Jometteer apologize, quarterback at Oklahoma. And then
Ryan Williams, wide receiver at Alabama, the young star from
last year. Who do you think has the highest probability
(18:44):
of these five to win the highest career.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
And I'm going through my notes trying to find my
list because I have them also in somewhere. I need
you to tell me again the young man that's the
quarterback at Ohio State that everyone's saying that if he
out plays very first game, if he outplays Manning in
the very first game this year Texas Ohio State, that
he has a chance to propel himself. What is his
(19:09):
name again, the quarterback at Oho State, Julian saying. Julian said,
of course. You all know that I have very good
friends that live in Columbus and they're high on Julian.
They think that he is the real deal. That they
will defeat Texas and he will counapult himself to a heightsman,
true Heisman candidate with that game. And I'm gonna have
(19:31):
to wait and see. I'm waiting to watch that game.
I want to watch him. I don't think that I
would throw him in that category just yet, but being
at Ohio State National champions last year, Anthony, A lot
of people are talking about that. Myself, Anthony, I like
Manning at Texas. I would say my top runner would
(19:54):
be Manning at Texas. If they defeat Ohio State, I
think that will propel him to be one of the
top guns for the hetman. The interesting candidate Anthony, And
if you look, I said it yesterday with the SEC
is that South Carolina I think now is ranked fifth
preseason prediction for football. They're fifth. And the quarterback that
(20:17):
they have can play Anthony. I've watched that is the sleeper.
What is his name? The young man from South Carolina.
I'm still looking from a note temper, still looking from
the quarterback from South Yes, yes, yes, Anthony. If South
Carolina can shake up the SEC, if he propels them
(20:41):
into the top two or three. I doubted them the
last two years. I thought Kentucky would beat them and
it didn't happen. They've been improving each year. That's my
true sleeper. So those are my three. I'm gonna have
to wait and see and watch. I don't know enough
about the other ones, but those are my three Anthony
that I like. I still think that if I had
(21:01):
to pick one today, if I had to, I'd say
Manning Texas. That's all I would go with Manning. If
I had to pick a height Swood candidate that I
thought had a chance at Wright University, top five program
has a chance to win the NACER Championship, and it's
gonna be a huge part in its success. I would
go with Manning this early. So if you had to,
(21:23):
that was where I would be. That would be my choice.
So I had to wait and see. I still would
like to see. I heard all these he's making three
point five million, four million dollars sitting on the bench.
I don't believe these numbers. I don't, but I still
would like to see that matchup. So I'm waiting to
see the Ohio State Texas very first game of the season,
and then from there I'll give you a better prediction.
(21:44):
So and we're seven thirty one, we're gonna get to
our last break. When we come back, guys, I'm gonna
tell you all about a story about a young man
named Randy Wadell. I'm gonna take you back in history
a little bit and let you know some of the
players that he was playing against, competing the against some
of I've already spoke to numerous players that played in
that era. I'm going to tell you what my brother,
(22:06):
Carrie Eaves, who was supposed to be in the first
black quarterback in the SEC being honest with you all
before he got injured before Holloway at Tennessee, and tell
you about some of the stories that they talked about
the legendary Randy Wydell. After the break, Welcome back to
EVE Sports Radio. Guys. It's seven thirty five, and yes,
(22:30):
it's the thirtieth of July. Can you believe it? July
is almost coming to an end, will be in the
eighth month. Soon, Christmas is around the corner, guys. I
want to take my time because I want to tell
this story correctly, and it's not a story. It's factory
by a gentleman named Randy Whdell. And I have to
build the backdrop for this Anthony so that everyone can
(22:53):
understand the era and time that he played. Randy Whdell
went to Pleasure Edge Park High School. Just simply put
Anthony one of the best basketball players out of the
city of Louisville ever. Randy Wadell class of nineteen seventy
(23:14):
one was a high school icon that led Pleasure rich
Parkrishirst Regional Championship and Kentucky High School State AA State
Final four in nineteen seventy. Randy was a two time
All American Award winner and an All American in nineteen
seventy and seventy one. And I'm going to take you
all back to some of the teammates on some of
(23:35):
the players on that All American team and will resonate
with you A lot of great Kentucky players, a lot
of great Indiana players were mentioned with Randy Waddell. Randy
still holds the school record for points in the game.
He'll probably hold it forever. Scored sixty points to beat Butler,
their art rival now guys in the nineteen seventy district
(23:57):
finals sixty. Randy went on to play basketball at the
University of Alabama. If you don't know anything about the
time in the era, that's why I talk to you
all about. You know, I try to stay in my
lane with politics, but this one kind of crosses it.
This Athletics has always been brought down barriers, not built
(24:17):
them up. So I spoke about that earlier this week.
I didn't like what happened, not letting the venezuellelen team play.
I thought it was incorrect by President Trump and Vice
President Jade Vance. Athletics has always been the sledgehammer that's
knocked down walls the time, Anthony. In sixty nine, Pleasure
(24:39):
Ridge Park was a predominantly white school, not saying entirely,
but predominantly Anthony, Carrie Eves. My brother went to Seneca
High School and it had great African American players. I'm nine, ten,
eleven years old, Anthony, and you're living through the Curier Journal.
At the time. There's no Internet, Anthony. There's not a
(25:01):
lot of things on television or you could see the clips.
You had to go to the games to watch the athletes.
So all I heard was the legendary stories about Randy Waddell,
your uncle Carry. Anthony was the real deal. And I'm
not kiddy, and I'm saying top flight athlete. Was probably
the best athlete in the South. He was a quarterback, Anthony.
(25:22):
He was extremely fast. I mean he was winning the
state title in the state. He played basketball, football, and baseball,
played all three sports. Anthony. He was the real deal.
He was six four like myself and your uncle Larry.
You'd have seen all the NFL trophies everywhere. He just
happened to be God made him five ten and to
(25:44):
hear him and his friends talking about as a young kid,
this white boy named Randy Wydell with admiration because he
was so good. When they had to play Pressure Pleasure
Ridge Park, it was like, oh my gosh, carry was
as fast as anybody in the state. I mean the
fastest in the state. Anthy, Let's just get it straight.
(26:08):
He said, Well, I don't sleep good before I play
Randy Whittell. This kid could play Anthony thirties was every
night he scored forty. Well, he never scored forty Anthony.
He scored fifty or sixty in a high school game.
Anthony sixty and he's not sixteen Anthony. Randy watt Hills
(26:30):
sixty two and ANSID three. He get dunked the ball, Anthony.
He was quick off the dribble. He was shooting at
like bister Pete Merriviage. He wasn't shooting all layups. Anthony
at six' eight west unsil two hundred and sixty pounds
and just couldn't be. Handled, no he was manipulating. People
anthony for sixty in a district. Game you've played in
the district, here you know how competitive. Is he went
(26:53):
to the state tournament did the exact same. Thing. Anthony
he was the real, deal SO i told people these
names would. Resonate he had a very tough Which i'm
not going to really get, into but it's public knowledge
that his father, really really really pushed, him really pushed
(27:13):
him to Where anthony really didn't love the game because
his father really pushed, him no question about, that to
sometimes a little physical abuse not Getting but that's not
the essence of this. Story the essence of this story
is that this young man went through so many things
playing With African american. Players let me tell you a
(27:35):
story that came From Daryn. Griffin randy was really, good
and of course he's three or four years older Than
daryl and five or six seven years older than. Myself,
Okay anthony And daryl was, playing And daryl's in the
seventh eighth, grade And randy said they were just messing
around And daryl And daryl blocked a shot from, behind
(27:57):
And randy was, like who is this young, Kid Daryl.
Griffith and he Told darryl that won't happen, anymore And darryl.
Laughed and many years, Later, anthony many years, Later Scotty
davenport Had Daryl griffith on his. Show he Asked, darryl
give me some of the guys that were the better
players in the city that people didn't. KNOW i want
(28:17):
people to. Know Daryl griffith did not Say Bobby, Turner Jeff,
Lamb Jerry, EA's Rudy. Macklin these are all. Pros just
so everyone, understands these are ALL nba basketball. Players NAMES
i just. Named he Named Randy, Waddell. Anthony he Named Randy,
waddell who Left Pleasure Ridge park went to The university
(28:38):
Of alabama to. Play and that's where this story gets. Interesting,
guys really. Interesting SO i want to slow it down
BECAUSE i don't want to miss. THINGS i told you
that nineteen sixty, seven sixty, eight sixty, nine when there
were great players coming out of this. Area in nineteen seventy,
(29:02):
one there was a player Named Gus. Williams we all
Know Gus, Williams, Seattle, SuperSonics Mount, Vernon New. York that
he was there Before Scooter. Rodden everyone in this state will,
know AND i know him. Well jimmy Dan connor From Anderson.
County he was fourth Team All american nineteen seventy. One
(29:23):
Randy waddell was Fifteen All. American everyone knows these. Names
anthony nineteen seventy. One Quinn, buckner everyone knows that name
from the Undefeated Indiana hoosiers national champions almost went back to.

(29:44):
Joe be to beat him so. Bad i'm glad he.
Did Bobby knight was a great, coach you, guys don't
get it. Wrong And i'm not taking anything away from,
him but he was very. Arrogant and that's just the.
Facts i'm just telling. You my dad told him take
your feet off the coffee. Table that's. Fact So bobby
was a little different. Guy SO i was pulling For
kentucky And, joby just being. Honest But Quinn, bunker which
(30:06):
everyone knows in nineteen seventy just to name some of
the players that were on These All american teams with,
Him Bill, WALTON i don't have to say anything, else
DO i? DO i have to name another name that
played with. Me here's a person that was first Team
All American anthony in nineteen seventy. One both of these,
(30:27):
Players jimmy Dan connor and Now First team nineteen seventy
One All American Mike flynn From, Justinville, indiana right across the. Water, so,
guys the state Of kentucky and The Day anthony were
putting out great. Players Mike flynn started At Kentucky, anthony
just Like jimmy Dan connor got ME aba. Player these
(30:49):
were all high school players guards at the same Time.
Anthony that what they did was put the ball in the.
Basket they were shooting three Pointers, anthony before they were three.
Pointers Randy waddell had. Sixty if there was a three
point Shot, anthony he had had. EIGHTY i mean, that
that's just the. Truth SO i wanted people to understand his.
(31:11):
Athleticism his ability to play the game of basketball was top.
Flight Cem newton recruits him to. Go of, course he
could have gone To, Kentucky, guys he could have gone To.

as a football. Power but Sem newton was getting ready
to turn that program, around and he. Was so he
comes to louis when recruits a young man and takes
him To, alabama a very racial. Climate, guys let's just
(31:55):

That's, all they were not allowed to. Play speaking With,
randy the First African american to play basketball At, Alabama
Wendell hudson was a really good friend of. His and
you have to Understand randy came from A Pleasure Ridge. Park.
Guys we understand when bussing, happened The Pleasure Ridge park
area was not happy with. It these are just. Factual
(32:23):
this is history In. Louisville you can't deny, it you can't.
Erase it's the. Truth but not With. Randy i'm going

Problem wyndow finally Toldy i've never been in a movie theater.
Before you have to understand the times they're In. Alabama

(33:06):
Randy randy, said we're going and they went. Together randy
had a group of the players From alabama come to
his home In. Kentucky they were good friends With. Randon
randy was good friends With African american, players The. Brothers
(33:26):
he invited them to come, in he, said, again players were. Hesitant,
again he was, like what's y'all's? Problem they were just.
Hesitant they were, like you sure your parents are good
with us coming to your? House he, SAID i wouldn't
have invited you if they. Were but it was the
time that he grew up. In, guys it was the
time that we all grew up. IN i was, twelve,
(33:49):
thirteen fourteen years. Old these were the Times randy was
a person that was helping break down these. Barriers he
had a traumatic experience At. Alabia he Didn't basketball wasn't
his favorite. Place it wasn't his safe place because the
experience he had with his. Father everybody it's, public you
(34:11):

were having At alabama when he was going. There the
same stories That Joe namath talked about on the football,
