Speaker 1 (00:00):
Come back to E Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
It is guys, July the thirty first, twenty twenty five,
and I was having a brutally candid conversation with Shannon,
but we're.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Not gonna go to that just right now to Jenn
and we're not anyway.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Welcome back to EVE Sports Radio. It is July thirty first,
Can you believe it, twenty twenty five. Phone number is
five zero two five seven one seventy nine hundred. This
is Sports Talk seven ninety KRD. Guys room was at.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
The end of the week.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
It's almost Thank god it's Friday, not yet one more day,
but welcome back to the show. I'm sitting in by
myself today like I used to do almost every day,
so it's kind of back to the normal routine. My
young co host had to go to work today early,
so everyone has a job to do and that's a priority.
So Anthony left out of here about six in the morning,
(00:56):
so that's fine. So I'm just sitting here flying by
the seat of my pant. It's by myself. Now, now
that I've made that statement, I have so much to
get to it's kind of incredible. So first thing, I
just want to tell everyone that if you didn't know it,
(01:16):
you're one hundred and forty seven days from something. It's
all that I'm saying to you. You are one hundred
and forty seven days from something. That's it simple, that
fact we are close. I'm not going to tell you
what if you're not smart enough, if you haven't listened
to sports radio enough to know the day I called
(01:37):
out even January the tenth, I said, we're close.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
We are close.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
So we're one hundred and forty seven days away from something.
I just hope that I'm here to see it. That's
all that I can say.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
Now, I'm not going to tell you what it is.
I'm not, but we are one hundred and forty seven
days away.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
Just let your imagination grow and think about it and
advance from there.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
So that's for today's show.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
I told you that I appreciate everyone that listens because
I kind of get it back, you know, and people
disagree with me, I get it back. So yesterday, when
I'm trying to work on my golf skills and I've.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
Got I've got a giveaway today, I do.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
I'm not gonna give it to you just yet, but
I do have a giveaway I'm gonna need a ringer
on Monday, and I'll tell you about that in a second.
But I am at the University of Louisville golf course.
I'm a member there, and I'm trying to work on
my golf game. I mean, I've been working on it now, golly,
twenty years. I'm the same. I was awful then, I'm
(02:41):
not awful. I don't want your to get interested.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
I'm not awful. I'm gonna shoot ninety, but I'm not
gonna shoot eighty five.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
It's all there is to it. I'm never gonna shoot
eighty five. I think I'm trying to be positive, but
it is what it is. So I'm trying to work
on my game and next thing I know, someone walks
up to me. I should have gotten his name. He's
a dentist. I know he's listening. He says, you know,
I'm from Lawrenceburg, and I disagree if you all don't
(03:09):
know about Anderson County, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. I made a statement
yesterday and I was insinuating that Randy Wadell, which was
my opinion, was better than Jimmy Dan.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Connor, well Low and Bold. I have a person that
went to school with Jimmy dan Connor. He's a dentist.
I wish you'd call into the show, sir. I know
you listen.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
I wish you'd call in five seven, one seventy nine hundred.
It's simple, call in. He walks up and says, I
got a grievance with you. I'm like, oh god, let's
go to court. This is like almost every day, not
court for let's good therapy. Let's go to court. We
need to go find Derwin Webb, Judge Webb, Judge Judy.
We've got to go find I said, okay, what's your problem? Well,
(03:54):
you know I was in school right before Jimmy dan Connor.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Jimmy dan Connor my system. He didn't have to shoot
all the balls. He says. He was skilled, he could
pass it, he could shoot it. He was big. He said.
His only drawback Jerry, that he was slow afoot. I said, okay,
I give you credit for that. I agree.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
Jesus, guys, I told you about show's going crazy. My
boss went blackbird. My boss sends to be in a
text and forty seven days from Christmas.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
Dummy.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
I'm telling you, guys, guys, I mean boy. The names
I get called boy. So anyway that is correct. It's
un in forty seven days from Christmas. So I'm sitting there. Okay,
we're going through and critiquing Randy Widell his sixty point
explosion against Butler and Jimmy dan Connor. So we start
(04:48):
bantering back and forth and throwing up jabs. Who knows who?
What game we were at? How do you know Jimmy
dan Connor? So I asked the gentlemen. I said, I'm
gonna find out if you truly went Tannerson County.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
He says, how can you cry? I said, I just can?
Speaker 2 (05:04):
He says, okay, shoot. I said, do you know Gladys Hutchison?
Have you ever heard that name for Gladys Hutchison. He's like,
how did you know missus Hutchison?
Speaker 1 (05:17):
I said, I just did. I said, did you know where?
He says, yes, that's the only bee I got in
high school. I said, okay, you and Anderson County.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
I ought everyone to know Gladys Hutchison was Gladys Eves,
which was my dad's sister, who was an African American
who taught French at Anderson County. Just facts taught to
Jimmy dan Connor. That's why my entire upbringing, I'm telling
you all sixty eight, sixty nine, seventy all I heard
(05:50):
at Christmas, New Year's summer parties, Jimmy dan Connor, Jimmy
dan I'm like, who is this Jimmy dan Connor.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Because Gladys Hutchison loved Jimmy dan Connor.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
Jimmy dan Connor got to be Also, he did not
get an AID, So I'm like, okay, you did go
to Anison County because I'm Gladas Hutchison did not give
out aids if they were not iron period, point blank.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
So we were going through it. So he said, I
just want you should go. Look.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
So I went back and I reevaluated the stats. Okay, guys,
you know, if I'm right, I'm right. If I'm wrong,
I'm wrong. High school, we know there's no comparison. Honestly,
Randy Wydell's numbers were phenomenal. They're the best in the state. Okay,
and Jimmy dan Connor had a better team, played well, progressed.
(06:43):
But I still thought in high school I would have
gone with Randy. But Randy played his freshman year and
Alabama did not play varsity at Alabama. Jimmy dan Connor progressed,
you can only play three years of basketball.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
At that time.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
You had to sit at your freshman year, of course.
So Jimmy dan Connor did play eighty five games, average
eleven point four points a game, four rebounds, three point
one assist, got me. Shot fifty percent from the field,
sixty three point eight from the free throw line.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
Jimmy Dan.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
I'm not impressed with that free throw percentage, Jimmy Dan.
I think we need to get in the gym and
work on it. So scored one thousand and nine points
and had a tremendous college career. So I'm going to
back down off my statement. I'm gonna give Jimmy Dan
his due. Met Jimmy numerous times. If people don't know,
(07:38):
Jimmy Dan insurance guy and did quite a bit of
junior Bridgeman's insurance. So yes, I do know Jimmy, and
I've known Jimmy and heard about Jimmy in almost my
entire life. I was born in fifty nine and I
was hearing about Jimmy dan connor in sixty eight, so
that's a long time guy.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
So yes, I'm gonna give you your due, sir. He's
a dentist.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
He knows what I'm talking about. I'm making sure that
I give Jimmy Dan his due. Now think of this,
you all, because we're always getting enamored even with my guy,
even with my guy Caliperry, I mean, very close friend
of mine for forever, all the way back to the
pro days, and you all know that that we always
(08:20):
said how great a recruiter he was, and how he
brought players to Kentucky and all the above. And I
used to tell people Kentucky has always recruited. Well, the
dentist says to me yesterday that reminded me. I did
not remember, but he had to remind me that on
that team Kentucky Kevin Greevey left.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
Everyone knows can really light it up.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Oh how mister basketball, Jimmy Dan Connor, Kentucky's mister basketball.
Mike Flynn, Indiana's mister basketball, just said, everybody understands that
Kentucky has always recruited. We know that was it Off
rupts the last few years. It Off retired nineteen seventy two.
I think he was thirty or thirty one. I think
(09:06):
he was nineteen thirty to nineteen seventy two and over
what was at University of Kentucky in that ballpark. Don't
hold me, but I think it was nineteen thirty, but
I know it was seventy two when he retired. And
Kentucky has always recruited, That's all I want people to know.
They've always brought in top flight players. So yes, Cale
(09:27):
did a great job. Yes he did, and we talk
about it more now. Recruiting used to be when they
got to your school, played freshman ball, improved, then people
got excited about them. But now you know, we're talking
about kids, honestly in the eighth grade. It's crazy. And
we're watching eighth grade aau talking about who's going to
be the next Louisville and Kentucky and Indiana basketball players.
(09:47):
So we know that we the fans have lost our minds.
But still I just wanted he reminded me, and I said,
I was going to remind people today that yes, Kentucky
has always recruited.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
That is my clarification.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Like I said, when I say things, they follow me
like the plague, and I had to look into it,
so I had to back down.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
That's all I'm going to say. I had to back down.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
I'm giving Jimmy his due. But like I told you,
I've known about Jimmy dan Connor forever. And yes, Gladys
Hutchison told everybody at Amerson County French.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
And that was my dad's sister.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
I told you all my family my dad was a microbologist,
was really smart.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
I'm not, but my family is. That's just the facts.
So let's move on.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
I'm going to go to break in a second, and
I've got an issue. I'm going to throw out two things.
One thing is I want to know people's predictions.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
I do. My neighbor, the biggest University of Louisville fan from.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
Campbellsville, not saying from Louisville, from Campbellsville told me yesterday
and my wife, I got witnesses now came back out
of this. Grant, oh gosh, Grant Cox is his name.
He's my neighbor. He told me to do this. I
(11:17):
don't tell people's last names. I try not to. There
are a few people I do.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
But I try not to. But not this time.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
Grad Cox said, I want you to give your listeners
my prediction.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
I said, okay, Grant, give it to me.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
I want to hear it. He says, well, I'm going
to tell you this. I think that University of Louisville
is in the college football playoffs. I said, okay, And
I said, okay, the basketball team plays in the final four.
I said, who you bit off quite a bit, don't
(11:53):
you think? He says, I'm with it one hundred percent.
This is what's gonna happen. I said, okay, great, you
sure you want me to positive you tell your Listen
said okay, I'm gonna do it now.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
My wife is there.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
We're all having a good time chit chatting, going through
a lot of things. I said, Okay, Grant, I'm gonna
put your prediction out there. I want to hear pros
and cons. Is grand Cox correct with this prediction or
is he overstepping his means? After the break, I'm going
(12:27):
to get into my reply. I always give you all
my reply, Guys, I'm gonna give you all my reply
to what Grant said to me and some of the
bantery we went back and forth in my driveway yesterday.
That's one thing. Second piece is that this is kind
of particular. Can't be one of my sponsors either. We
(12:51):
know that there's a golf outing, and if you didn't
know Damien Lee, he's got a golf outing coming up
on Monday.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
August fourth.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
And I need a I need a player. I bought
a team like I always do, and I need a player.
I've got an open spot so that people that listen
that are good golfers, I want one or two to
call in. You have to talk to me. They got
to talk to me, Shannon. I have to interview them
to make sure they have skills, and.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
I know what to ask them. I can tell.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
But I'm looking for a golfer for sure, maybe two
to play in the Damien League golf out at the
University of Louisville Golf Club on Monday.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
So you know, we've got a little busy day. So anyway,
I'm gonna get to break.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
When we come back, I'm gonna give you my reply
and I want to know you All's kind thought on
Grant Cox's prediction. Does University of Louisville go to the
college football playoffs and the Final four in twenty six
both of them be played in twenty six In twenty
twenty six is the question. It's Esports Radio four numbers
(13:56):
five zero, two, five nine hundred. We'll talk to you
all after the break. Welcome back to a sports radio seven.
I'm sitting in there by myself. I don't have to
insult anybody or be insulted by anybody today.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
I don't. Yes, let me just tell you. I told
you boy.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
Social media is amazing. My son, my older son, said,
don't give away my spot.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
I'm not gonna give it away.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Frankie, I told them one, maybe two. So here's my team.
Of course, to myself, I'm the A player. My older son, Frankie,
he's the C player.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
You know. I got to carry him.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
I get to I don't always have to tell the truth.
I can lie sometimes. Let's have some fun. Mike Vine,
He's like me, we're just scrubs.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
We just like playing.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
It's three, so I have one open seat available. I
need a golfer. It's either one of the two. Either
you're a nice person, male or female, makes no difference,
and you just like to have a great time. That's us,
or you're scratch golfer and you're gonna carry us. Either
one is all I need. But we just have a
(15:07):
great time. We get care less where we hit the ball.
We're not trying to We don't care if we score.
We don't know how far we're under or over. We
just go out and injoy ourselves. It's supposed to be
a beautiful day Monday, so I have one slot. It's free.
You do not have to make a donation. All you
have to do is show up. I think it starts
at eleven a m. Monday, but I'll give you all
(15:29):
that information in a little bit. But I'm pretty sure
it's August. The fourth starts at eleven am. So now
let's go back to the prediction. Grand Cox, of course
told me that this was gonna happen. I told him directly.
So Grant, it's funny you said that because I talked
about Louisville's schedule, and I says I have them five
(15:53):
and zero going into the Miami game. So I'm gonna
tell people again.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
Publicly Louisville's fifth by the.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
Coaches and the acc from their media day. Okay, they
slid Georgia Tech in front of them, which kind of
surprised me.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
But Georgia Tech did play well against.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
Georgia the last game of the season, not the playoffs,
the last game of the season, the rivalry week they
played really well. They took Georgia to the end, so
I'm going to give them some credit for that. SEC
is a really good football conference. Eastern Kentucky is a
win for Louisville, period point blank. James Madison is a
win for louis Bowling Green is a win for Louisan.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
Pittsburgh. The fourth game of the week is they win
for Louisville. They're ranked ninth preseason eighth. Excuse me. After
that is Virginia.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
Okay, Virginia's ranked fourteenth fourteen to fifteenth preseason by the coaches.
That's five and oh, period point blank. University of Louisan
was five and oh. And I told Grant at five
and oh, they're going to be ranked in the top twenty.
They'll be fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, got me. So I just
want you all to remember what I'm saying. That's going
(17:09):
into the Miami game. Grant said, I may.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
Go to that game. I said, I think I'm going
to that game myself.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
I want to go down and watch Jay Lucas's practice
and I'd like to see that game.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
So I said, I think I'm going down myself to
that game.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
So if Louisville can go to Miami and win that
game to put them at six, and oh, Miami's ranked
second and puts them at six and oh. They will
then caunipult themselves in the top ten in the college
football Well, the ratings aren't out yet, but they'll be
in the top ten ap coaches Poe. There'll be nine
(17:44):
to eleven right there in that ballpark, which puts them
in the thick of things.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
Then it is just not tripping.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
Up like Louis always does, not tripping up at Boston
College or at Virginia Tech at California.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
Okay, three games don't have to get through, that's true.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
It's nine and oh, guys, that puts them solidly in
the top ten by that time. I do believe they're
started the rankings for the college football playoffs, so we'll
be able to truly start to talk about this. And
I enjoy the playoffs, I do. I like the way
they've formatted. It gives us a lot to talk about.
It makes college really interesting, especially the stretch drive. Then
(18:28):
you have the last three games, Clemson at home. The
place will be Ruckus. It'll be Ruckus at eight and
one or nine, and oh, it'll be Ruckus.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
But Louisville has a chance again if they could defeat Clemson.
I'm not saying they would.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
I have them losing to Clemson, but they have put
themselves in a position and they should have put themselves
in a position to be knocking on the doors.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
Just the facts. I don't get to make the schedule,
but from the way the schedule.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
Lays out after Clinson, they have to go on the
road at SMU.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
Again.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
Lastly, he has done a great job there. They had
a very good team last year. Clinton beat them in
the championship game, but they got a chance. Coach last
league and made a funny statement which I played on
my show last week.
Speaker 1 (19:19):
About the SEC being top heavy.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
But I had to remind people of the acc only
comes in in Florida state have won anything. So they
have a chance to defeat SMU in Dallas, and then
of course Kentucky at home, and I have Louisville defeating
Kentucky at home. So yes, Grant, Louisville has an opportunity
(19:43):
to put themselves in the College football playoffs. So I
just want to do a comparison. I want people to
think about this. I just went through Louisville schedule and
it's their schedule is nothing. Nothing you can do about
your schedule. You have to play your conference opponents. Let's
look at the University of Kentucky schedule. They've got Toledo,
(20:05):
Louisville would win that game.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
They've got All.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
Miss We'd have to think about that game, second game
of the year. I can't just jump up and down
and say that's a definite win for Louisville like I
can with the schedule with James Madison.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
Got me guess.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
I'm not saying Louisville couldn't defeat them, but it's not
the same schedule. Eastern Michigan Louivian would win that game
South Carolina fourth game of the season.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
I don't know if we had when we have our.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Games, which we're going to have our college football contests,
I don't know how many people would pick Louiwood defeat
South Carolina, especially at South Carolina.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
It's just a different level. Fifth game Kentucky has at Georgia.
So Grant, yes, I told you. We have spoke about
this for forever. Sometimes the conference you play in is
a benefit, especially now with the college football playoffs and
the expansion of the teams. You are correct, Grant, Louisville
(21:10):
does have a chance to play.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
In the college football playoffs, a chance because of the
conference that they're in.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
It's just not as competitive, period.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
So everybody again, I have Louisville defeating Kentucky. I have
SMU defeating Louisville. I have Clemson defeating Louisville. I have
Miami defeating Louisville.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
Three losses.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
If Louisville can cut that down and beat one of
the opponents, they have a chance.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
If they beat two of them and.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
Not trip up with the other lesser opponents, and there
are lesser opponents at this.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
Time, they got a chance. Grant, that piece is correct.
Now we're at seven thirty.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
The basketball side, which everybody is really excited about for
both teams.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
We know Kentucky footballs down this year.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
They're gonna win five or six games, but it's just
a different breed with the schedule that they have. I
gave you their first six games. It's a different level.
But basketball, when you're saying final four, that's.
Speaker 1 (22:19):
In quite a bit. I do love what I've seen. MIKEL.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
Brown is as exciting as Daryl Griffith. I think he's
probably other than Darryl west Uncil, which beard maybe the
most exciting player that's coming to the program really and
truly in a long time.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
I mean, the Bradford Smith had quite.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
A bit, Billy Thompson and Milt Wagner had quite a
bit of excitement. But this young man, he's got quite
a bit of excitement coming with him, and he's played
well against grown men competition in the summer. He's done
more than just high school basketball. So I'm looking forward
to seeing it. We're gonna talk a little bit about
that after the break. So again, I need a participant
(23:04):
in my golf outing the phone numbers five zero two,
five seven one seventy nine hundred, and I want a prediction.
What do you think about? Does University of Louisville reach
the college football playoffs and the Final four? It's e
Sports Radio seven thirty two, Phone numbers five zero two,
five seventy nine hundred. Welcome back to Sports Radio seven
(23:30):
thirty two. Sitting here by myself, flying by the seat
of my pants. That's all I've got, Shannon in the
dude in the studio again, guys.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
Does the University of Louisville make both okay? Great. Thank you, Scott.
I'll be with you in a second. That's a stretch,
that's just saying quite a bit. But I mean Grant.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
Proclaims himself as being the largest Louisville fan and Camel's
book growing up as a young kid. So we're gonna
get to Scott and see what Scott has to say
about these predictions or about playing golf with me on Monday.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
Scott, welcome to the sports radio.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
Are you, Jerry? I'm doing good? How much stuff?
Speaker 1 (24:11):
I'm good? Scott?
Speaker 3 (24:12):
For you brother, you must work, you must. I got
keep food on that table, Jerry, exactly.
Speaker 1 (24:23):
You haven't take it to my money and giving it
to your son lately. I agree.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
How did you.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
Say he's doing good good? It's uh, you know, it's
it's it's it's a great way to be a parent
of I love my boys and very proud of them.
If you get a guy a gothic event at a
putt putt court, I'm all in.
Speaker 1 (24:50):
You sound like George if you had some club not
to you to bring you.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
But on Scott, we don't kis Scott. We're drinking so
to orange juice and water. We're playing music loud and
we're partying.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
We can't care less what our score is.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
You'll get all the scuttle, but about all the great
information though, whoever does come and play.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
I'm telling you guys, you'll.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
Find out all the scuttle, but about the agents, all
the everything that's going on, because Mike knows everything.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
I'm trying to tell you. But anyway, Scott, tell me something.
What do you think though? Can the Cardinals?
Speaker 3 (25:22):
Do you know what the schedule? You know it's uh,
you know, I think that that needs to coming to
play when you're picking the players for the are the
teams to playoffs? You know, A a three lost SEC
team over am?
Speaker 2 (25:39):
Okay, No, I just got I agree with you. I'm
not I'm not denying that. Here's the thing I told
people that, oh, come on, what's his name, petty?
Speaker 1 (25:53):
Oh, come on.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
The commissioner of the Big TA, in my mind's going
was trying to make this He's trying to rig this deal.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
He wants it to be just Big ten SEC and
they also rans. He really does. He wants four and
four for SEC four.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
Big ten, and then two to two after that he
wants He's saying the strength of the conference should matter.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
I told people that you have to be very careful.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
They're gonna have to watch the SEC and the AEC
very closely because this is a tricky time. So when
I did compare the schedules, I just wanted people.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
To hear the difference of the levels.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
So for the University of Kentucky to ever reach the
College football playoffs, guys, they dang, you have to win
the SEC. I mean, that's just I don't ever see
that happening. I don't ever see Kentucky reaching the College
football Playoffs. It's just so hard to do. But in
the AEC at this time, it's just not as difficult
Louisville does. If someone asked me, I'd say Louisville has
(26:56):
a better chance football wise than Louisville's basketball team does
go into the final I'm just the opposite of.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
A lot of the people.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
I think the football program has a chance. I don't
think the basketball team will make it to the Final four,
even though I expect great things out of them.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
That's still a big ass, That's all there is to it.
So I do agree with that statement.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
I do.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
So, Scott, is this last year for your boys? Stoops?
Speaker 2 (27:21):
Say? Is it for coach stoops Shannon and everybody says
six games will he'll keep his job? Do you think
he keeps his job after this season? Like I am,
because I don't. Shannon hasn't notified me that I'm not on,
So I'm gonna proceed that I am. So yes, that
was one caller who I hate that I lost you, Scott.
I agree, it's just more difficult for a middle of
(27:45):
the pack SEC team to break through. I just think
it is for University of Louisville to be picked fifth
in the ACC in football.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
I do believe that they have a chance to reach the.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
College football playoffs because I think that they can upset
SMU this season, almost.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
Did last year.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
I think they can play competitively against Clemson, even though
they say this will be the Cleanson of old. And
if they're the Clemson of old, they'll be the flagship
in the ACC and they'll go undefeated in the ACC
like they used to if they're the flagship of old. Okay, great,
maybe Mike's still on. Okay great, I'm glad you'll still
hearing me. So great, So going with that Scott prechitch call,
(28:31):
make sure you take care of your son, keep working
and we'll go from there. So I'm going to get
the break we're at seven forty and just make sure
that everything is straight. But I know you all are
hearing me, because people.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
Are letting me know that.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
I just want to throw out there that when we're
talking about these college playoffs, that everybody understands. Greg Sankey
was more reasonable. He wasn't pushing the envelope. I like
the Big Teams Commissioner Tony Teddy, Oh boy, I'm close.
I'll get it at the break. You're going to be
(29:05):
glad the great thank you is more reasonable because the
SEC and the Big Ten is trying to push people
into oblivion.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
They're trying to just rule the roost.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
They want to have five teams from their conference and
then they'll let you have four or five more. Okay,
thank you, They'll they'll let you have three or four
other teams in. But we have to be very we
the ACC. We're gonna have to stand up, guys, because
this is important and it's important that the ACC plays
well this year in the college football playoffs and in
(29:35):
the non conference games that they do have.
Speaker 1 (29:37):
So Scott, welcome back. Sorry about that, Sorry for losing it.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
Happens. I was talking. I was like, we have, but
I think they think the schedules should should take consideration
a two lost team and the SEC over two lost
team and the ACC. There's two toy different losses. But
(30:02):
I do have a question, Okay, why why what's the
difference as far as talent wise in the ACC and
SEC and it's been the Big Ten and all that.
Why is there such a difference in the in the
in the divisions?
Speaker 2 (30:20):
Okay, Well, I think it's the gap is closing because
of the transfer Portal Alabama's third team used to be
better than the best second or third.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
Best team in the ACC. They're third. It's not anymore.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
It's not okay, so Nick Saven got out, They're not
as loaded as they used to be.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
They still have the best talent, you know, without a
doubt that the breeding ground for the NFL.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
But I think that second tier level is going to
the ACC and to the Big twelve to play instead
of sitting waiting its opportunity like it used to. So
I do think throughout the years, the talent level, well,
the gap will close, But I still think that the
SEC and the Big Ten. Of course, the Big Ten's
(31:06):
won it the last two years with Ohio Saton Michigan.
After that, the SEC has owned the college football playoffs
with Georgia and Alabama. I mean they've owned it. So
Clemson Florida State are the only two teams that have
been able to crack that in the last twelve years.
So we'll have to wait and see if they can again.
Always Notre Dame is always Notre Dame. But I do
(31:27):
think the talent between the conferences will close as this
transfer portal continues. Players will not wait. They'll go elsewhere
to make some money and get an opportunity to play
right away.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
Scott, do you think I had to what they do
with loving and il came about is to close that gap.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
No, I don't.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
I think then a name of to likeness came about
because of fairness. It was time, Scott, and I know
we've gone back and forth. You really didn't like it.
It was time, Scott. Like I told you, last year,
the NFL made the most. Uh, the non profit amateur
college teams made second. Major League Baseball was third, NBA
(32:14):
was right behind Major League Baseball. Then the soccer.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
Leagues and hockey fell after that.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
Just so you'll know, college football made the second most money, Scott,
So it's not amateur, it's not.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
I just think it was fairness. Why this came about.
Not to break up the SEC or the big kid. No,
I don't believe that. But thanks what you call Scott brother? Hey, spot.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
You know that for real? Tell what are your friends
that can play golf to call me? I got a spot.
I gotta want a spot available.
Speaker 3 (32:41):
Well that our fisher churnament. You can put a fresher
tournament in. I feel I'll feel that lake up.
Speaker 1 (32:48):
Homeboy.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
One day, you're gonna have to take me fishing. That's
what you're gonna have to do that. We've got to
set that up. You gotta set that set it up. Okay,
your brother Pscott, thanks for call shid. Let's take us
a break. It's seven forty five. I still got a
spot on a golf outing Damian Lee golf outing. Damien
(33:11):
Lee's going to be there. He's got other NBA players.
There's the Cardon Club is a beautiful course. If he's
never played it, University of Losville golf Course. I just
call it the Cardinal Club because I'm old, but it's beautiful. Simpsonville, Kentucky,
right up the road is going to be a great day,
So I do have a free You do not up
to do anything other than call into the show. Either
(33:32):
be good at conversation, are good at golf. Either one
is fine with me. We'll talk to y'all after the break.
Welcome back to EVE Sports Radio, guys, seven forty eight.
Call numbers five zero, two, five seven, one, seventy nine hundred.
I'll get to my next caller again. Guys. Sports is
just so much fun, it really is. It gives us
(33:54):
something to talk about, breaks the mind the mundane days
that we have of just going to work coming back,
and I think that both programs basketball wise, are going
to be very exciting tomorrow. I'm gonna talk a lot
about coach Kelsey saying he's not ducking the smoke. I
love that little guy. I'm telling you, he's a ball
of stature, great personality, I mean truly, and he is
(34:17):
from the Denny Crump philosophy. He will play anybody and
I like that, I really do. His schedule is super
tough this year, and we'll get into that more tomorrow. Now,
do we have Randy on the line with us? Shannon, Yeah, Jerry,
Randy How are you doing, Randy?
Speaker 1 (34:37):
How are you?
Speaker 5 (34:37):
I'm wonderful.
Speaker 6 (34:38):
I took a couple of days off work, so I'm
doing good.
Speaker 1 (34:41):
Okay, great, I'll get to you next. How are you doing, Randy?
Speaker 5 (34:46):
I'm doing good. How you doing, sir?
Speaker 1 (34:48):
Randy? Well, when you call me sir, you let me
know I'm old.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
But that's still fine because I do the same thing
you were raised, right, That's all. I do the same thing.
So Randy, tell me something. Are you calling about the schedule?
You're calling about playing golf?
Speaker 1 (35:01):
Which one?
Speaker 5 (35:03):
Well, I'd love to play golf with you. I pay
a two days off already.
Speaker 1 (35:08):
Oh come on, Randy, come on, Randy.
Speaker 6 (35:12):
I like the UK and Veil football schedule.
Speaker 5 (35:17):
UK on UK schedule.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
Okay, let's let's do that. Let me let me go
back to that. Okay, uh, let me find.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
Up for a bus schedule. I've got it.
Speaker 2 (35:30):
I got it, just a little slow. That's a prediction, Georgia. Okay,
I've got it. Let's just do it. Louisville Toledo.
Speaker 1 (35:40):
Louisville wins. Kentucky. Don't lose it Toledo.
Speaker 6 (35:48):
Oh yes they do.
Speaker 4 (35:51):
Fan.
Speaker 5 (35:52):
I'm a fan, and Kentucky's gonna lose that game. Thank god.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
Okay, well we're gonna watch the game. I mean, it's
so funny.
Speaker 2 (36:04):
I was just approved for my Kentucky schedule, so I mean,
I haven't picked which ones I'm going to, but Kentucky
proves me. I just have to notify which game I'm
coming too. So Evan does a great job there. I
wasn't choosing to go to Toledo. I think that's a win.
But okay, I'm I disagree with you, but that's okay,
Let's go to ole Miss. Then if you say Toledo's
beating them, then you're definitely saying, oh.
Speaker 5 (36:25):
Misbeats Kentucky loses doll Miss and that would be a
home game for Louisville. So Loovo would win that game.
Even though Lane Kiffen is really good at offense.
Speaker 2 (36:36):
Ole Miss is selected sixth in the SEC season. You
do know that it's Texas, Georgia, LSU, Alabama, South Carolina,
Ole Miss. Okay, boy, I thinkov could beat them. Okay,
since it's a holding game, I would go at Louisville. Also,
(36:57):
it's a coast game. Though that's a dog fight. Both
be scoring it. I know that they're gonna score to
be high scoring, a dogfight. Okay, Eastern Michigan wins.
Speaker 5 (37:08):
Game September, that's a win for both of them.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
Okay, South Carolina September twenty seven, I'm going to that game.
Speaker 4 (37:17):
No, No, I'm not.
Speaker 1 (37:17):
That's that's South Carolina.
Speaker 6 (37:18):
I'm sorry being at South Carolina.
Speaker 5 (37:21):
I know Kentucky absolutely a loss. I think Louisville probably.
Speaker 6 (37:28):
Would lose that, but I think they'd only lose by
four or five.
Speaker 2 (37:31):
Okay, I would pick South Carolina and South Carolina.
Speaker 1 (37:35):
I would at Georgia.
Speaker 6 (37:37):
We know what That at Georgia is a loss for both.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
Okay, Texas at home, I'm going to that game. It's
all come on between the hedges, come on between the hedges.
Is a very tough play place Texas at home. That's
a lowful both team. That's a loss.
Speaker 6 (37:54):
Yeah, Kentucky's gonna lose. I'm gonna say overtime and Louisville
out of.
Speaker 1 (38:00):
Win against Texas.
Speaker 3 (38:04):
Yeah, because I don't.
Speaker 5 (38:05):
Like their quarterback situation. I don't think. I don't think.
Speaker 2 (38:10):
I think they would have done better if they'd have
played that kid more, if they'd have let that boy
run the ball and then due a threat. I think
Texas would have done better last year. Boy, we got
difference of Randy. I'm glad you called we had difference
of opinions. Okay, come on, Randy, let's do this one
more time.
Speaker 3 (38:25):
Texas.
Speaker 1 (38:26):
You think Louisville will beat Texas.
Speaker 6 (38:29):
I think I think they. I think it'll go to overtime.
And I think Louisll's gonna feed him.
Speaker 5 (38:33):
I don't like.
Speaker 6 (38:35):
I don't think he's I don't think he's everything that
he's definitely not dating and he's not alivet.
Speaker 1 (38:41):
Whoo, Well, I have to wait before I make that.
Of course, Eli will.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
Be a Hall of famer. Peyton is a Hall of Famer.
That's I mean, that's a lot to ask. That's like
when people would jump on my man, Lamar Jackson, I'd say,
well that's come on now, that's a lot to ask
before we just thow they kid under the bus. But
that's a huge state saying that Louisville could be Texas.
All right, Tennessee at home for Kentucky. Who you're going with?
Speaker 6 (39:09):
Tucky, you don't have a prayer. Well, Tennessee's got a
new quarterback by Kentucky, you don't have a prayer but
I don't even know who's Tennessee's quarterback is.
Speaker 2 (39:17):
So I don't either. I don't know that, Nico. Okay,
I just don't know enough. I would say I think
the conference is tougher. I would take Tennessee. I think
if Louisville had to go. Here's the reason why, even
though you're just we've already played Old Miss. You have
played South Carolina quality, we played Georgia quality, We've played
(39:38):
Texas quality. I just don't know if Louisville could run
the card against that level competition week in week out.
That's the hard thing about the SEC. So Tennessee Louisville
in that day.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
If Louisville played Tennessee and Louisville's schedule, I think they
have a chance, But not in this schedule. That's why
I'm saying. I just don't think he could Alburn at Auburn.
Speaker 5 (40:02):
Alburn would be Auburn is not any good.
Speaker 2 (40:06):
Okay, I agree Louisville beats Alburt and Kentucky doesn't.
Speaker 1 (40:13):
I picked this. I have go ahead, Kuck.
Speaker 6 (40:17):
He's got a quarterback already proved he can't play in
the SEC.
Speaker 5 (40:24):
Okay, Well, he goes to incarnations or in word or whatever.
It's all.
Speaker 6 (40:31):
And he can play against the Vision three competition, but
that's not SEC competition. He's already proved he can't play
against the SEC competition.
Speaker 2 (40:42):
All I know is Coachoop's better go back to the
ground and pound, be a strong running game and go
from there. Will Levis, Yeah, we've got only one minute left.
I mean Will Levis got beat up playing at Kentucky.
Speaker 1 (40:53):
He's injured.
Speaker 2 (40:53):
Now we know what the Titans, but he was a
quality football player, but he got beat up. If you
don't have an offensive line in the SEC, you have
no chance.
Speaker 1 (41:02):
Man. Hey, I appreciate your call, though. You know what,
I'm gonna finish with that tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
I'm gonna go to the last few games Louisville playing
Kentucky schedule. Great call, sir. I wish you could play
golf with me. Call me uh tomorrow again. I need
one golfer.
Speaker 1 (41:17):
As Esports Radio guys, love you all. You have a
great date. Bye bye.
