yesterday and I was insinuating that Randy Wadell, which was
my opinion, was better than Jimmy Dan.

went to school with Jimmy dan Connor. He's a dentist.

He says, okay, shoot. I said, do you know Gladys Hutchison?
Have you ever heard that name for Gladys Hutchison. He's like,
how did you know missus Hutchison?

I said, I just did. I said, did you know where?
He says, yes, that's the only bee I got in
high school. I said, okay, you and Anderson County.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
I ought everyone to know Gladys Hutchison was Gladys Eves,
which was my dad's sister, who was an African American
who taught French at Anderson County. Just facts taught to
Jimmy dan Connor. That's why my entire upbringing, I'm telling
you all sixty eight, sixty nine, seventy all I heard

at Christmas, New Year's summer parties, Jimmy dan Connor, Jimmy
dan I'm like, who is this Jimmy dan Connor.

Because Gladys Hutchison loved Jimmy dan Connor.

Jimmy dan Connor got to be Also, he did not
get an AID, So I'm like, okay, you did go
to Anison County because I'm Gladas Hutchison did not give
out aids if they were not iron period, point blank.

So we were going through it. So he said, I

So I went back and I reevaluated the stats. Okay, guys,
you know, if I'm right, I'm right. If I'm wrong,
I'm wrong. High school, we know there's no comparison. Honestly,
Randy Wydell's numbers were phenomenal. They're the best in the state. Okay,
and Jimmy dan Connor had a better team, played well, progressed.

But I still thought in high school I would have
gone with Randy. But Randy played his freshman year and
Alabama did not play varsity at Alabama. Jimmy dan Connor progressed,
you can only play three years of basketball.

At that time.

You had to sit at your freshman year, of course.
So Jimmy dan Connor did play eighty five games, average
eleven point four points a game, four rebounds, three point
one assist, got me. Shot fifty percent from the field,
sixty three point eight from the free throw line.

I'm not impressed with that free throw percentage, Jimmy Dan.
I think we need to get in the gym and
work on it. So scored one thousand and nine points
and had a tremendous college career. So I'm going to

his due. Met Jimmy numerous times. If people don't know,

Jimmy Dan insurance guy and did quite a bit of
junior Bridgeman's insurance. So yes, I do know Jimmy, and
I've known Jimmy and heard about Jimmy in almost my
entire life. I was born in fifty nine and I
was hearing about Jimmy dan connor in sixty eight, so
that's a long time guy.

So yes, I'm gonna give you your due, sir. He's
a dentist.

you all, because we're always getting enamored even with my guy,

of mine for forever, all the way back to the

brought players to Kentucky and all the above. And I
used to tell people Kentucky has always recruited. Well, the
dentist says to me yesterday that reminded me. I did
not remember, but he had to remind me that on
that team Kentucky Kevin Greevey left.

Oh how mister basketball, Jimmy Dan Connor, Kentucky's mister basketball.
Mike Flynn, Indiana's mister basketball, just said, everybody understands that
Kentucky has always recruited. We know that was it Off

I think he was thirty or thirty one. I think

he was nineteen thirty to nineteen seventy two and over
what was at University of Kentucky in that ballpark. Don't
hold me, but I think it was nineteen thirty, but
I know it was seventy two when he retired. And
Kentucky has always recruited, That's all I want people to know.
They've always brought in top flight players. So yes, Cale

did a great job. Yes he did, and we talk
about it more now. Recruiting used to be when they
got to your school, played freshman ball, improved, then people
got excited about them. But now you know, we're talking
about kids, honestly in the eighth grade. It's crazy. And
we're watching eighth grade aau talking about who's going to
be the next Louisville and Kentucky and Indiana basketball players.

So we know that we the fans have lost our minds.
But still I just wanted he reminded me, and I said,
I was going to remind people today that yes, Kentucky
has always recruited.

is in the college football playoffs. I said, okay, And
I said, okay, the basketball team plays in the final four.

This is what's gonna happen. I said, okay, great, you
sure you want me to positive you tell your Listen
said okay, I'm gonna do it now.

slid Georgia Tech in front of them, which kind of
surprised me.

But Georgia Tech did play well against.

Georgia the last game of the season, not the playoffs,
the last game of the season, the rivalry week they
played really well. They took Georgia to the end, so
I'm going to give them some credit for that. SEC
is a really good football conference. Eastern Kentucky is a
win for Louisville, period point blank. James Madison is a
win for louis Bowling Green is a win for Louisan.

Pittsburgh. The fourth game of the week is they win
for Louisville. They're ranked ninth preseason eighth. Excuse me. After
that is Virginia.

Okay, Virginia's ranked fourteenth fourteen to fifteenth preseason by the coaches.

was five and oh. And I told Grant at five
and oh, they're going to be ranked in the top twenty.

in the thick of things.

they've formatted. It gives us a lot to talk about.
It makes college really interesting, especially the stretch drive. Then

you have the last three games, Clemson at home. The
place will be Ruckus. It'll be Ruckus at eight and
one or nine, and oh, it'll be Ruckus.

But Louisville has a chance again if they could defeat Clemson.
I'm not saying they would.

I have them losing to Clemson, but they have put
themselves in a position and they should have put themselves
in a position to be knocking on the doors.

have a chance to defeat SMU in Dallas, and then
of course Kentucky at home, and I have Louisville defeating
Kentucky at home. So yes, Grant, Louisville has an opportunity

to put themselves in the College football playoffs. So I
just want to do a comparison. I want people to
think about this. I just went through Louisville schedule and
it's their schedule is nothing. Nothing you can do about
your schedule. You have to play your conference opponents. Let's
look at the University of Kentucky schedule. They've got Toledo,

Louisville would win that game.

They've got All.

Miss We'd have to think about that game, second game
of the year. I can't just jump up and down
and say that's a definite win for Louisville like I
can with the schedule with James Madison.

I'm not saying Louisville couldn't defeat them, but it's not
the same schedule. Eastern Michigan Louivian would win that game
South Carolina fourth game of the season.

I don't know how many people would pick Louiwood defeat
South Carolina, especially at South Carolina.

It's just a different level. Fifth game Kentucky has at Georgia.
So Grant, yes, I told you. We have spoke about
this for forever. Sometimes the conference you play in is
a benefit, especially now with the college football playoffs and
the expansion of the teams. You are correct, Grant, Louisville

does have a chance to play.

In the college football playoffs, a chance because of the
conference that they're in.

It's just not as competitive, period.

Miami defeating Louisville.

If Louisville can cut that down and beat one of
the opponents, they have a chance.

If they beat two of them and.

Not trip up with the other lesser opponents, and there
