Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome back to Eve's Sports Radio. There's no more July.
It is August the first, twenty twenty five. It's Friday.
It's chili outside. This is crazy. All I can tell
you is that you need a jacket. It is truly
cold so the Ohio Valley. It can change in a win.
(00:23):
But like always, we've got Shannon behind the glass. Appreciate
Shannon making it in. It is phone number five zero
two five seven seventy nine hundred. This is Sports Talk
seven ninety kr D. Of course I am the brand. Okay,
thank you, Shennon. I am, and we've got our two
(00:44):
co hosts, one the young fellow Anthony. Eve Anthony, welcome
to the show.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
How are you No, I'm always doing great.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
This morning.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
It is a little chili outside, but honestly not too mad,
I say, for the time being, just because it's been
so hot outside, so a little cool breeze was kind
of nice to have, especially in the morning. Late at night.
It's still gonna heat up throughout the day, so I
think it's a good mixed of weather that we're gonna
be getting for the next couple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
Then you're a meteorologist, I got you Okay, Well, appreciate
you sitting in with me today, Anthony. Let me introduce
the other gentleman, the elderly statesman, the oldest guy on
the show, mister George Williams. That's all I'm gonna say.
How you doing, Miss Williams. I was an introduction.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
Hey, any name, Jared don't matter to me, brother man.
You know I'm I'm a flexible kind of guy, you know.
But you did a great job. Let me say that
you did a great job today. And uh, you know,
calling me the elder statement, that's a that's a fantastic honah.
Some people would like to be called that is didn't.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Make it yet.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
So as long as I'm exactly as long as I'm trucking,
I got my help, I got my happiness. I don't
care how old I get. Okay, you know what I mean.
That's all. I'm looking for help and happiness in heaveness.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
Well, I'm gonna take your happiness. You can keep your health.
I'm taking that happiness. You too, are an opportunity and
I'm taking both of those, taking both of you, George,
I'm taking the air and opportunity and.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
Your happlits slick. You don't have to worry about that.
You can't take that.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Okay, with sticks and stones break my.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Bone back and talk about now that that somebody talk
about it like you and look at you, I'm gonna
be happy. But thank you for the out of Jared
that you're gonna be able to help me like that.
I really appreciate your effort. You know, mean to work
on that for me. Thank you.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Just work on it. I'm coming for it. That happiness
is gonna be mine, coming for it. Miss Williams he May.
I was wondering, do we have a gentleman calling in today?
Before I get to what we're gonna cover, is mister
Bill calling in today?
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Mister jail.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
I'll don'kay what time is he calling in? So Shannon,
no know what time is he calling in? George?
Speaker 3 (03:11):
Around seventy fifteen at.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Okay, great, so Shannon. We'll when someone comes, when mister
Bell calls him, we'll go to break. But before then,
Anthony's gonna have the national news. He's got quite a
bit and I want everyone in the city of Louisville
to know this. George, everyone knows I want a national
championship at the University of Louisvie nineteen eighty. The first one.
First one is always the best one. George, I don't
(03:38):
care what anybody says. Yes, I was on that team that.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
I'm glad you brought that up. I'm glad you brought
that up today.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Okay, I just want to make sure you have on that, George.
So that's one. But George, we all know, and you
know what. I'm proud of my ballad, Bruins, Bruin Nation, George.
Everyone is stealing my bruins. They're still in my bruins now.
The dark side has stolen one of my Bruins. Yes,
(04:07):
it took mister Snyder. They're still in my Bruins now, George.
I can't have this. I'm gonna have to get involved.
If people continue to come after my Bruins, I'm gonna
have to get involved.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
So that's all I say.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
So what I'm gonna do, George, I know, but I don't.
They're trying to steal from the greatness. I understand why
they want to about coming after the greatness. I've been
telling you that he's a basketball player, George basketball. Okay,
you know that, mister Quintin Snyder University of Louisville. Great, Yes,
(04:41):
mister basketball, just don't forget it, George. So Anthony, I'm
gonna throw it to you for national news before mister
Bell comes on. Tell us what we're gonna be talking
about today, Anthony.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
Well, we got a lot.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Obviously, we did have a Hall of Fame game last night.
If any of those watched those, football did finally take
off fours. So that was exciting. See might have been
the closest game on but just seeing some snaps and
seeing some players on the field was more than enough
that I needed to see to get a little bit
of excitements. Also as well, we do got a little
golf going on back and actually the home.
Speaker 5 (05:15):
City that I grew up in, the.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
Saidville Country Club, is hosting a tournament this weekend, win
them championship in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Mm hmm every year, and I've been to that tournament
numerous times. I've played Sedgefield, George, I have played that course.
I just want you to know that, George Williams.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
Yes, well, I like I like to say that.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
I want you to know that.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
Well, I want to say about that game, that's better.
You will own that course. And they let you play,
and we say that I think that's the better you
will on the course and they let you play.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
That might be a better description back then. That's a
better description, Georgia, I'm hitting pretty well. Now you're gonna
be surprised, Georgia. Are you coming out, Anthony can't make it?
Are you coming out to the Damien League Golf Classic
on the fourth on Monday? Are you coming out eleven
o'clock University of Golf Club.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
Great, I'm gonna try to make Are you gonna participate?
Speaker 1 (06:10):
I'm playing, George, I'm playing.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
I'm swinging. Yeah. I said you're gonna participate. You saying
you plan I'm saying, okay, Well that's different. Swinging clubs
almost swing.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
A lot of a lot of four left, a lot
of four right on that court. Everybody watch out.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
That's why I never follow you.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
You liable will being another fairway. You know, there's gonna
be a lot of people out the way. That driver
has been off the tee, a little wayward, a little left,
a little snap, hookie. It's getting dangerous for the folks
on the Everyone goes into the game.
Speaker 6 (06:53):
Wearing construction helmet.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
Everybody anywhere near the spots construction helmets will be from
it at the front gate.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
And everybody got jokes. Hold up, hold up, and how
come your description is a lot different than your dead
your dad always time he's getting better, he's going straight up.
And you just described on the golf course.
Speaker 7 (07:17):
You gotta you.
Speaker 6 (07:18):
Gotta paytent, you gott It's called it's called reading.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
Between the lines.
Speaker 8 (07:21):
So when I say he says he's played the window,
he said he's played. You don't ever ask him the
score of when he played that quarter. That's the difference
between reading between those lines. Then you start getting into
the details. And he was like, well, you know I
played the course, but it was it was help that day.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
It's gonna be it's not.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Gonna be a score.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
It's gonna be an explanation. We're just asking for numbers.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
You're gonna get a lot of words.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
That's the difference.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
We just need numbers.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
That's all. Thank you, Anthony.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Women their weight, that's personal. It's like asking women their weight.
That's personal. It's personal.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Everybody wants to know what a handscap. If you want
to ask me what's your handicap.
Speaker 7 (08:00):
You know what?
Speaker 2 (08:00):
And sometimes I have to company tell him I'm like,
my handicap is not that great. I'm probably like a
towny handicap right now. I'm gonna be honest, i shoot like.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
Low nineties to mid nineties.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
I'm about any handicap you give, when it, when it,
when it, when there's number of answers on that spreadsheet.
This isn't a fill in the blank. You're making a
whole new life.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
You're good today, George.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
If you ever bad.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
If he goes golfing comes.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Back and he doesn't say anything about golfing, just know
it wasn't the best round. I've learned that last year.
He's like, I'm gonna go, I'm gonna club, I'm gonna
go play nine.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
I'm like, okay.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
A couple of hours goes by, he comes back home,
kind of showers, then he eats, hasn't said anything about
golf yet. I'm like, cad can already I can already
predict how this round went because he plays good.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Who called my name?
Speaker 2 (08:55):
Who yelled my name out of a deep sleep to
go through a round by round, hold by whole breakdown every.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Sorrey life, every absolutely absolutely.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
I have no judge.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
Jared Jude, You're really this is just tickling you, George,
and I'm.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
Having the ball.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
Well, look, George, I have to interrupt both of you. Anthony,
We're coming back to the National news. But George, we
have a guest on, so we're gonna go to break.
It's already some fourteen. When we come back to George,
I'm gonna let you introduce mister Jerold Bell and talk
about what's and let him tell us what's going on.
So let's get to break, pay some bills and we
will come back with your guest. George William this is
(09:35):
E Sports Radio. We'll be back in a second with
Jerald Bell. Welcome back to EVE Sports Radio. August First.
I can't believe that. Twenty twenty five, Friday seven nineteen.
I'm gonna throw it to George. George, you told me
that you had a special guest. He is here on
EVE Sports Radio, so I'm gonna throw it to you
and let you take it from here.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
George, Thank you. Jed, Jed, I like to introduce you
to a fantastic promoter. He's been doing it for over
twenty years in the Louisville are and around the country.
He's bringed some of the best entertainment at a most
reasonable price. Jared. This weekend, he's having an event at
the Air Corps Amphitheater. He's gonna have two great nights,
(10:15):
the first and the second. Jared. Just let me give
you a list of some of the lineup that he's having.
He's having Booth, Victor Wooton Brothers there, He's having nine
g Brian Simpson, Nicole Nicholas Nicole and Lindsey Webson. That's
just a few of the people that's coming here, Jered.
And it's an affordable event. And Jared, I just like
to think he does a fantastic job. And Jery, I
(10:36):
like to also introduce you to today he's going by
the brand. We don't know who he'll be next week.
And it also and also the superstar to show mister
andthney E's he's taken over the brand's show in a
couple more years, so you know, I would like to
say the superstar mist and Andy EA's and who are
(10:58):
you today, Jared?
Speaker 1 (10:58):
The brand, I'm gonna be the person that's on George Williams.
I'm taking your happiness. How you doing, You're welcome to
the sports.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
That's kind of so we have that got hanging. I
got your back there, nobody gonna bother you. Okay.
Speaker 9 (11:13):
I feel I feel safe, I feel secure.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
Okay. Zero, Welcome to the show.
Speaker 9 (11:18):
Zero, thank you, thank you.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
You glad to be here, and I am good.
Speaker 9 (11:23):
I'm just happy to see this weather broke for us
to have a great weekend and a great concerts. You know,
we're bringing live music back to Louisville in a big
way and uh, we just need people to really support.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
That's going to be.
Speaker 9 (11:39):
Okay today on Suday, Yes, oh yeah, today we started seven,
So seven o'clock at Iroquois Amphitheater. We start with a
full lineup and that's gonna be like he was saying,
today is Nausee, Brian Simpson and Victor Wooten and the
Wooton Brothers. And for folks that don't know Victor Wootman
and the Wooton Brothers. He is the biggest bass player
(12:03):
in the world right now. He's probably one of the
top bass players for the world. So he tours internationally
and very very well known. Musicianship is just.
Speaker 5 (12:11):
Off the charts.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
So that's nigez My guyn geez my guye.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
He the best.
Speaker 9 (12:20):
Nigee is bad he's been around for a while and
you know, hasn't been in Louisville for a minute, so
we're looking forward to seeing him. And like I said,
tickets start at only sixty four fifty, so a very
good price for a ticket. And Iroquois Amphitheater by far
one of the best venues I think Enlouisble to see
a concert, so that, you know, just just beautiful. And
(12:43):
of course we've got that facility which is very accommodating.
And like I said, it's live music and people need
to appreciate live music today because it's just a dying
art and we need to really bring it back. And
this is the largest show of its kind in lloyd
Bill so for the whole region, this is the largest
jazz festival and it's nobody else that's got it. They're
(13:05):
trying to get it, but we're trying to keep it
right here in Lloydsville Derby City.
Speaker 3 (13:09):
Well, I thought that Brian Simpson and Lindsey Webster is
also some dynamics. You bring it there, Jerald. They are
fantastic artists. Oh they are.
Speaker 9 (13:19):
I mean you're talking now. Now you're on the Saturday
line up with Lindsay Webster. So if we talk August second, Saturday,
now Saturday. We started at six thirty a little bit
earlier because it's not a workday, so form doing the
workday unless you playing golf.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
That's work.
Speaker 9 (13:35):
But uh.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
I heard that comment about that golf game.
Speaker 9 (13:39):
But Saturday, Jerald, you get it.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
You can be a part of this, Jered. I don't. Hey,
I got enough to spread around. Enough, Chelsea, there's enough
to pass around.
Speaker 5 (13:56):
Ask the score.
Speaker 9 (13:57):
I did not ask the number.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
I was I was night.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
I just say game.
Speaker 3 (14:02):
I just left it open. Okay, okay, lead, I gave
you a break. Gerald's looking for wining. Gerald, take you
my own baby. Hold everybody in Louisville.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
I'll take you on. I want you to. But George,
I know it's so bad. Gerald. I hate to tell
George this is the truth. When my phone starts buzzy
and I look at it and somebody says, that's my man.
You know, a gentleman named mister mac Stephan Mac, he says, oh, yes, yes,
(14:43):
well he's just raving about you, Stephan. I want some
of your golf game. Also, he's my state farm in
trench Rip. But I don't he says, he's got a game, George,
But I might have to taste Stepan too. I think
I want some of him. But again or starting to day, Yes,
without a doubt. I'm not a day I bring the smoke.
I'm a coach Kilse. We are bringing back to the
(15:06):
university George, Okay.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
Again it would be a good today.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
What time do the gates I mean it's not the gates,
but what time does it open? What time do you
want people arriving at your event today?
Speaker 9 (15:19):
Okay, today, we want everybody to show up at six o'clock.
And uh, like I said, we need people everybody listening,
We need them to definitely support live music. Go out,
buy a ticket. If you haven't bought one already, get
a ticket, come check out the show. Help us to
make this thing what it is successful. And uh an
ongoing event. This is annual. So this is probably for
(15:40):
our Louisville Jazz Fest. This is a tenth one. Actually,
people don't even realize it's our tenth one. We've been
in a couple of other places, but we've landed at
Iroquois Amphitheater, which I think is the best place for
a live jazz festival. And we've been blessed every year,
oddly enough with great weather. So I think even somebody
up above saying, hey this, we need this to happen,
(16:00):
so let's put a little blessing on.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
It and let's keep it moving.
Speaker 9 (16:03):
But I need to make sure they know who's coming
on Saturday too, because Saturday's a big lineup for Louisville.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
It's gonna be like I said, it's huge.
Speaker 9 (16:11):
It's got Brian Colbertson as the lead. So Brian Colbertson,
everybody knows Brian, so that boy's name tears up. You know,
he brings thunder. And I've got something coming that people
aren't even aware of what because roy a Hair has
passed away, but we've got his band, Ubiquity Band coming
as they are gonna just be absolutely incredible with Mark
(16:35):
Adams and Ubiquity Band, and so that's gonna be something live.
And like you said, Lindsay Webster a great vocalist, I
mean known all over the world as one of the
great vocalists. So she's gonna be good. And Nicholas Cole
is a bad boy. So you know, four people on Saturday,
three on Friday, full of music, full of excitement and
(16:56):
like I said, the biggest value gonna have with eighty
two degrees and in the evening's dropping down in the seventies.
I mean, you can't get better with me, Sonny.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
You can't. Well, we appreciate it, George, Jeryl. I'm gonna
try to make it Saturday. I've got a car show
event tonight that I'm going to, but I'm gonna try
to get their Saturday, and I'll try to find you. Gerald.
I appreciate you going on the sports radio, George, close
it out for us. We're gonna go to break early,
Shannon so that we can get back on task after.
But we appreciate you coming on, George, take us.
Speaker 3 (17:26):
Out, and we appreciate Jerl. We'd like to appreciate you
coming on the show. And we look forward to you
bringing great jazz to Louisville, and we will see you there.
Speaker 9 (17:35):
Absolutely, we'll see you there, George. So we can get
these pictures going and let them see what we're gonna
do next year.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
Sound fantastic, my brother, have a great day. Thank you.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
Thanks, take care of Joel. Bring your clubes next year
with you Gerald talking that stuff. Bring your club You've
got them with me right now?
Speaker 3 (17:54):
Hey, Daryl Gerald, the most important thing, answer him, what's
the school? Without a doubt.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
We'll keep scoring, George Dollar Hold, Gerald got you.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
We'll talk y'all after the breaks.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
All right, welcome back to Sports Radio seven thirty one.
We're staying on task. I appreciate speaking with Gerald Brown.
Great job, George. Well, we're gonna bail Bell exactly, Bell
b E L. L. Craig. George, Yes, sir, Yes, So George,
here's the situation. I just want John Carney to know.
(18:31):
Of course, we all know he's saying Xavier Carney's galleries.
We know. Don't try to steal any more of my bruins, Trinity,
I understood. I told you all the Shamrocks. We're gonna
turn into ballad Nation. Don't look at any more of
my bruins anymore stealing, George, I'm gonna have to come
after the principals. Dan Marino was stolen and kidnapped. All
kidnap a principal if I have to. It's all I'm saying,
(18:53):
no more grabbing my ballid Nation. I'm just trying to
tell people it can happen. Hey and getting happy.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
So here's the deal.
Speaker 1 (19:02):
Congratulations, Quentin, Snyder. Anthony, did you have an opportunity to
talk to mister Snider in the last few days.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
I talked to him a few days ago. Yeah, I
saw where he had posted it on social media that
he was joining the coaching staff at Trinity.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
I told less friends anymore, got you exactly? You told him, right?
But Anthony, I've got to go to my clip and
then I'm gonna bring my card So Shatton, play the
clip please. You're all gonna get to hear my cardinals.
Go ahead, Channing, No, I couldn't hear it. It's playing, Okay,
(19:45):
that's fine. No, you just let me know when it's over.
As long as they can hear it's fine. Okay, great,
So guys, I just with George. I'm bringing the smoke.
My Cardinals are bringing the smoke. I just want all
the Cats to know coming for you. My Bruins are
bringing the smoke. I just want to let sant Xavier
(20:07):
and Trinity Central note bringing the smoke. I'm gonna pull
for Trinity because you're you're a kidnapp quitting Snyder, but
I'll get him back. Don't worry about that, George. I'm
working on bringing him back right now. To the nation.
So you just understand that I just.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
Got a hot loose flash. Bubba said, you've always been
cheering for Trinity.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
See Baba, I wouldn't gonna throw you in the middle
of it. Mama, you can get some of this smoke.
Oh so John's always in the middle. I'm just trying
to tell you and and George, here's the deal. I
was supposed to have a new floor in my laundry room. George.
The problem is, I gotta go by the show white
no no, blue and white no, blue and white no no,
San Xavier color no no. And I'm gonna get by
(20:54):
because there you go. George sick. He's something wrong with
the man, something wrong with you. I know.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
Just check it.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
So John Carney, do not post any more pictures of
Quentin Snyder in that shamrock. I don't need to see
it anymore. It's all I'm saying. But John can get
some to George. And he's like you, he's a putt
putt artist. He can get some too. I'm coach Kelsey.
I'm passing out to smoke. George. I'm passing out the smoke.
(21:26):
So here we go. Now, I've got to get to
this George, we have to. Yesterday my neighbor truly did
to the right of meet grand Conn made a prediction.
I'm gonna tell you and Anthony and get your alls right.
I just want to understand what you think of this prediction.
He says, Louisville makes college football playoffs. I said, that's
(21:47):
a possibility with their schedule this year, I can kind
of see that. And Louislle's basketball team reaches the final four.
I said, I don't think I see that. Not enough
interior play, but wept away and see it. Very good team,
very good team. I love Kelsey. Y'all know that, been
on the show. Great coach, great guy. But I don't
know if I see that, what do you think? What
(22:08):
is your prediction on that?
Speaker 3 (22:11):
Yeah? I also go ahead and.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
Okay, George, because people didn't get to hear no, No,
you're not hold up guys and Mike, you stay right
there playing Shannon. I want everybody here.
Speaker 10 (22:24):
What I do want to do is make sure that
when we get there and the selection committee is looking
at us, they know one thing. Louisville didn't duck the smoke.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
They induct the smoke.
Speaker 10 (22:40):
So that was our approach this year.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
And how it all plays out.
Speaker 10 (22:45):
I don't know, you know, Coach Prosser, my mentor, like
he was in my office right now we're talking scheduling.
He probably hit me upside the head and go, what
the crap are you doing? And maybe he's right, but
we're not ducking the smoke.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
We're not there. You go, and so thank you. That's
all I needed said. I just want everyone to know,
not duck in the smoke, George. So Mike's ready, Mike,
We're gonna come to you.
Speaker 9 (23:12):
Mike.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
What do you need?
Speaker 3 (23:13):
Mike, what do you need?
Speaker 1 (23:14):
You've been waiting for me with you?
Speaker 4 (23:15):
Well, Well, I wanted to call and say how much
of an honor it is to talk to Shannon the
dude just for a brief second, because I can't talk.
He's so famous, I can't talk to him on his
other shows. Then I wanted to call and talk to
you about your gunt, this golf thing, because I didn't
get all the information on it.
Speaker 7 (23:33):
And then you know, I don't know who your neighbor
is or what you know.
Speaker 4 (23:38):
He's not duck in the smoke. But somebody needs tell
that boy to exhale, because they ain't need to wander
him gonna happen.
Speaker 7 (23:48):
Tell him, George, Mike, I think you said it this.
I think you said it this, Mike, my man, come on,
brother to get some oxygen in the lungs.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
Well, Gret you told me, and honestly, Mike, George he
told me to say it on my show by his name.
I told him I was gonna do it. He did so, Mike,
I'm gonna tell you he probably here's your reply. So
here's the deal, Mike. The golf outing that you need
to know is money. It's at eleven o'clock at the
Cardinal Club.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
Can you make it? I will let you know.
Speaker 4 (24:33):
Give me I'm on my way to work, so let me.
Speaker 3 (24:36):
Okay, check with my ball.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
There you go. You let me know and make sure
that you do the proper thing. If you can, you'll
be the guy. If not, I've got a second place
person that's waiting. But you were first yesterday. I just
didn't get to you. So you checked and get back
with you.
Speaker 7 (24:53):
I said, give me an hour and I'll let you know.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
Okay, not a problem. Not a problem now, Mike.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
Now the last segment, do I now listen to the
last segment when Jerry told the guy. Man, this is
what really shocked me, though, Mike. He told the guy
that he would play him.
Speaker 7 (25:12):
A dollar a ho did, George, George, we both know
that's a lie, that man. I don't a dollar for
a hole. I got on a golf course, Thank you,
MANE so right. I didn't know, and you are almost
what the car when I heard that, that's the truth.
(25:35):
I didn't know what saw on anymore, Mike. He thought
it was on an afternoon show, didn't it.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
I don't mind that, because you are telling the truth.
That is, guys, I'm not gambling a dime. It costs
too much to get on the dang course.
Speaker 7 (25:51):
Mike, I'm gonna say I don't never. I don't never
played golf with Jerry before. And I've been bothering this
man for as long as I've been listening to the
show to play golf with him. Hey, I've listened no
long enough. I know Jerry ain't coming up off that robt.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
Why I thought you would trying to impressed the audience.
I didn't know what I was told, Hey.
Speaker 4 (26:15):
George, George, George, Jerry must have walked through the same smoke.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
As was in Okay in the com music. Mike, you
like that, George, you like that? Sobody, I'm gonna ask
you one question and you let me know. But here's
the one question. If one of the teams did make it,
would it be football? Basketball? Truthfully? Now which one the
(26:42):
football schedules?
Speaker 7 (26:44):
Come on, come on, can't take the schedule. You're playing football.
I'll give you that.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
There's got a chance if they Now here's the deal, Mike, George.
If they defeat Louisville, defeats Miami in week six and
they're six and oh, I'm telling people. I want to
hear people. Hear me today, they'll be ranked in the
top ten. One in the week seven they will be
But there you go again, See Mike. I can't Mike go.
(27:12):
You get off on Monday. I want to see you in.
I can't wait.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
You miss me.
Speaker 7 (27:18):
I haven't been able to.
Speaker 6 (27:18):
Call in in a while.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
Shannon, you better talk to you now because I might
have to finish him on Monday.
Speaker 3 (27:24):
But Mike, you let me know.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
I appreciate the call on Mike, and yes, you got
the spot and the until you tell me you don't.
Speaker 7 (27:32):
I here.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
Have a great time, have a great all right, buddy,
Thanks Mike.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
Great call.
Speaker 7 (27:40):
Have a great wag yet you so again, George, But just.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
In your comedian what you would answer anything your comedians today.
Speaker 3 (27:51):
But me and Ny both know, and Shannon knows that
when you came up with I'll play you a dollar
hol my brother. Yeah, I mean I sat on this bone, man.
I don't know, George, I didn't know what happened. I said,
that's Jerry was lying.
Speaker 9 (28:07):
I was lying.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
I just want to know you lying there.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
Everybody else, let's bring d I shouldn't even take this call,
but I'm going to.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
Yes Bland.
Speaker 6 (28:24):
Welcome to him, Eves the Great, Shannon the Dude. Good morning, George,
and good morning Jerry. Hope everybody's doing great today. Uh wonderful, George. George.
I had to call in because I heard Jerry mention
something about gambling a dollar.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
Yeah gee, George, old dollar.
Speaker 6 (28:45):
Yeah you know, George, Jerry would have to go somebody
would have to go to Low's or home depot by
a crowbar to prowl up in his wallet.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
If the dollars and just an awesome that's true.
Speaker 6 (28:57):
The main the main reason, George, I'm cro calling then,
is I heard that gentleman called, you know, on your
first segment about being a promoter. Well, you know what,
this is all going hand in hand, George, because you
know we do have the great world radio heavyweight Champion
of the World, Shannon the Dude, and maybe that gentleman
could figure out a date in the Young Center. Since
(29:19):
this winter we don't have an NBA team or no
other pro team to fill the seats, we should have
like a little match at the Young Center.
Speaker 3 (29:26):
George, what do you think? Well, I want to tell
you this. I didn't want to tell Jerry this next year,
we say this is an annual event. So what we're
going to do the opening that is going to be
Jerry and Keen. You know what I'm saying. They needed people.
I've taken care of all those problems, and I even
went and found him a promoter that doesn't got a
(29:49):
lot of experience.
Speaker 6 (29:51):
Well, but George, the only thing about it you mentioned
the word annual event. It would be a one time
event because Jerry would never be able to walk again.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
I'm telling them that I don't want to know that.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
That's what I'm Rocky's coming back, y'all better watch it.
Shannon might be in trouble. I'm just trying to tell you.
Speaker 6 (30:09):
Yeah, hey, George, you know the old wooden telephone posts
that you see along the street. Yes, Sir Shannon would
would squeeze Jerry and all the chriosol would come out
of that telephone pole.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
That's not nice, Blanded.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
What today?
Speaker 1 (30:34):
One question to see you bladed guy. George, get the
brief brand h. I think that you all are sick
in the head today. Friday's always are off the rail.
I want to excuse people. I just want to preference
it with this. I am not in charge of their
conversations or what they say. Do not charge, we do
(30:54):
not call it. That's all I can say. But I might.
Eleven am is tea time on Monday. We kick off
ed ee eleven there's food. You'll get a chance to
meet Damien, speak to him. But all those but eleven am.
Now here's the deal, George. We're gonna go to break,
but when we come back, we've got to talk about
(31:15):
this year's class going into the Hall of Fame. Jason
Osbourne some of the break wins. So when we come
back after break, we're gonna do that. This is the
Sports Radio one numbers five zero two, five nine hundred
we've got Anthony who's going to work, and we've got
George who's lost his ever beloved mind. This is the brand.
We'll talk to you in a second. Welcome back to
(31:38):
Evens Sports Radio seven forty eight. We have lost our mind.
Speaker 3 (31:42):
But it is Friday.
Speaker 1 (31:44):
Anthony, I know you're gone. I think Anthony Shennon is
Anthony gone. He's probably at work by now. So Anthony's
is out of here. I got Shannon, well we will.
We're gonna hold him for the last minute. And aw
so Ac you got a hol o. George. You and
I have to talk about a few of these people
going into the Kentucky Hall of Fame this year, and
(32:06):
there's some great ones. I'm going to call them all
out in a two or three day segment because I
don't want to miss any George, and I don't want
to blow over any. But first and foremost. First name
on the list is Nolan Barger from Takes Creek. Very
good friend of mine, very good friend of Richard Smith
and Donnie Satyer. He coached Vince Taylor. He coached great players.
(32:28):
He was a great coach. Twenty eight year career, had
great teams, never wanted but was always knocking on the door.
I mean well respected in the Lexington area. I'm happy
to see that Nolan Barker is going in without a doubt, George.
Then we slide down to Greg Buckner is going in
from University Heights. We all know Greg Buckner, George. Ten
(32:49):
year pro player, I mean, great player. I loved his game, Jridge.
It never you could not speed him up for anything.
He was always under control. People don't want to get
his due today, George. For some reason when we say
great players in Louisville, we don't give Greg Buckner his due,
but we should. I mean absolutely. Two times state championship
(33:10):
during his career at University Heights sweet sixteen and nineteen
ninety two, All A State tournament nineteen ninety one, I
mean George. Greg average twenty two points a game, nine rebounds,
and four assistant his senior season, first team All State honors.
Clemson University signed Greg basketball scholarship. Left Clemson in scoring
four years. I mean, George, he has a real deal.
Speaker 3 (33:31):
What do you know about him? Well, Jae, I watched
him play quite often, you know, I mean, I really
loved this game at Clemson. You know, It's funny how
sometime we I don't know if it's the media, the
senior area or what, but sometimes that we overlook some
fantastic ball players. Jer I don't know if you don't
have enough flash of what it is, but he was
a complete ballplayer. And you know, when you win championships there,
(33:53):
you know that pretty much kind of seals the deal
that you should kind of give recondized in your state,
you know, I mean that kind of separates you from
everybody else. And like I said, you say, you got
two of them, what more can you say?
Speaker 1 (34:04):
Yes? Do you hear me now? George? I'm sorry my phone?
Can you hear me now? Great? Yeah, you've got thank you. Yeah,
that was my fault. I took out one of my
ear plugs and it muted my phone. So that was
on me. Yes, the great Brett Barrow from North Harden
played with Robbie Valentine and the late great James Jedter
with my teammates at University of Louiso. He's I appreciate
(34:25):
he's on. Don't forget Phil Gromeyer. A lot of people
don't want to give him nineteen fifty two manual High School. George,
of course, went on to play in Kentucky. But he
was a really, really good player I've heard. I never
watched him, of course, George, but I heard a lot
about this gentleman. So Tobby Harrison has talked about. Yes,
another great player. George was nineteen fifty two, fifty one.
(34:49):
Come on, George, I was born in fifty nine.
Speaker 3 (34:51):
Oh, okay, okay, I thought you.
Speaker 6 (34:54):
I'm glad O.
Speaker 3 (34:56):
Good move on.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
Jason Osborne in Louisville Milton's nineteen ninety three mister Basketball.
George Sweet sixteen state tournaments of my finals. Come on, George,
anything and everything, Street and Smith All American, All American
Second Team nineteen ninety three, signed up University of Louisville.
George played overseas, And let me tell you why. George.
(35:20):
He was sitting in my office two days ago. He is.
He's Dwan Wheed's assistant coach at Simlons College of Kentucky.
So I've got another great Louisville Cardinal on the roster.
So yes, he'll be helping Dewan this year and Dwan
Wheed's first year as head coach at Simblons College up Kentucky.
So yes, I'm happy for Jason. We had a long,
(35:40):
great conversation, George, great young man, and we were speaking
about all the pluses in minus. He says is Jerry,
if I could redo it, I would do it quite
differently George than I did. But you talk about a
super talent. What do you know about Jason Osborne, George, what.
Speaker 3 (35:57):
He's like a second son? Him and Doug were like
best of Jared. I tell people this all the time.
I say, you know, the University of Louisville and the
University Kentucky, if they hadn't got those two guys together, Jared,
they didn't even have to look at each other to
pass the ball. They knew each other. I mean, it
was just like magic when you watch them play basketball,
both of them, Jason about six y nine handles like
(36:17):
a point guard, Darren hounding like a point guard. They
didn't have They whoever took it off the rim, it
was off and running, and whoever got it, they were
gonna finish it. And it was flash and dash, my brother,
I'm telling you, and I got to throw the wine
in there with him because they all three were together
up and beat it. Arry. I'm telling you, it was outstanding. Outstanding.
He's an outstanding ball player, and the most important thing,
(36:38):
he's a better human being than it ever will be
any of the other things I said about at basketball building,
and I think he well deserve it, and I'm so
proud of it, and I'm so proud of him getting
a chance to be your the wan's assistant coach. I've
been going over and watching them work with the young men,
and it's great to you know, you talk about a
j it's great to see young men come into becoming
men and doing great things and changing lives. Yeah, I'm
(37:00):
just honest.
Speaker 1 (37:02):
Yes, he works with Bozak Smith, another former Cardinal George
And if anyone needs office equipment, office equipment moved, that's
what Bozak Smith, who of course is also an official,
but he works with Bozak Smith. So if you ever
need anything, make sure you reach out to me so
that I can get that to them. But I'm so
happy for Jason ousb when I really am George, I
(37:22):
can't forget though. We got Kim May's meals from lock
Central High School nineteen ninety. George Lady Panther started since
the seventh grade. George just again a senior average forty
one point six points per game. I don't think you
can mess with the George. That's all I can tell you.
I don't think you're ready for that smoke. Of course,
it's basketball nineteen ninety George, Prey and All American, Street
(37:46):
and Smith All American went on to Eastern Kentucky University,
where she continued her career. So, George, we'll get to
the rest on Monday, but I just wanted to make
sure that we took our time out and brought in
the new inductee. He's to the Kentucky High School Basketball
Hall of Fame. Now, George, we got your man on
the line. Bring on a C. We gotta bring him
(38:06):
on AC. You got about a minute, can we help you?
Speaker 5 (38:11):
Thank you so much for taking mister Eves. I'm gonna
make it quick and simple for you. We should have
brother Anthony's grandma on the show. And you don't do
like you don't do things like that. But no, no,
here's the best idea. Why don't you write a book?
Mister I'm dead.
Speaker 1 (38:25):
You just talked about my mother a C. You talking about.
Speaker 3 (38:30):
That's my mother a C.
Speaker 5 (38:32):
Jesus right now?
Speaker 7 (38:35):
Yeah, I know.
Speaker 5 (38:39):
You sometime to help you, George, mister mister, I'm dead
I'm dead serious. Why don't you write a book like
mister Finebaum did and I'll buy a copy. I mean,
you can talk about the show, you can talk about.
Speaker 3 (38:59):
Your personal love.
Speaker 5 (39:03):
One more time.
Speaker 3 (39:03):
Please, I'll be the only copy sails though. A c.
Speaker 5 (39:08):
Well, do what you're gonna do.
Speaker 9 (39:10):
But let me tell you.
Speaker 7 (39:11):
I know you have to have football contact in four weeks.
Speaker 5 (39:16):
Yes, we are not gonna purchase. Yes you are, and
I'm not gonna purchase and say, you know I have
an idea. Scared all the people, all the all the people,
all the people in the contest. They are your chickens.
Speaker 1 (39:31):
Chicken Halla. Hey George, Oh guys, old George.
Speaker 7 (39:38):
Got back your mouth.
Speaker 1 (39:44):
George, keep my mouth your mouth each sports radio only.
Speaker 9 (39:52):
I love that.
Speaker 1 (39:53):
Boys, guys, God, we'll talk to your Monday.
Speaker 3 (39:55):
Bye bye
