Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome back to EVE Sports Radio. Yes, it is August
the eleventh, twenty twenty five, Monday, in the Louisville area.
If you did not know, I'm sure you do. Though
it's a work day, school day, of course. I saw
the school buses out early this morning, so again, be
extra careful. No driving around school signs. When the signs
(00:23):
are out, I just leave on time. More importantly, this
is EVE Sports Radio. Phone numbers five zero two five
one seventy nine hundred. That's five zero two five seven
one seventy nine. It's Sports Talk seven ninety KRD. I've
got Shannon behind the glass waiting to man the phones.
Of course, Shannon, we've got my two co hosts. Let's
(00:46):
start with the young fella, Anthony. Eve Anthony, welcome to
the show. How are you?
Speaker 2 (00:51):
You know?
Speaker 3 (00:51):
I'm doing great this morning?
Speaker 4 (00:52):
How about yourself?
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Ready? I'm locked and loaded. I'm sitting out front of
Commonwealth Dodge. I told everybody last time I was here,
you getting a little minor work done to the best
car I've ever bolt. I'm being honest, but it's a truck,
but it is phenomenal. I've got a t RX Dodge
truck one f seven hundred horsepower, even though I'm driving
this Daisy.
Speaker 5 (01:14):
But they came with the lug nuts, guys that have
the locks on them, and I got to nail in
one of my tires and I did not have the lugnut.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
To take the locks off. So I said, screw that.
I'm having them take off all four of the lugnuts
and some of the computer updates that all these new
cars have. They're going to do for me. So I'm
sitting out for the common of Dodge. But I told
you all between seven thirty and eight, I'm in the
studio absolutely excuse me in the showroom. Anybody show up early.
(01:48):
I'm giving them away cheap before Billy Hayes gets up
and knows it. I'm giving them away cheap before Chuck Kane,
the general manager, can find out. I'm giving them away cheap.
You better come and see me. That's awfuys. But anyway,
that's what we got in. That's where I am. Andy.
We're gonna bring the other guy on. I'm gonna try
to be civil. I saw him on Saturday. I try
(02:11):
to be civil there, but we almost fought there. I'm
gonna let him tell everyone what we were doing why,
But we almost fought again, and every time we see
each other it's almost pay per view. The one and
only George Williams. Bring you What's up?
Speaker 4 (02:24):
Bring you Hey?
Speaker 2 (02:26):
What's up? Uh? Anne? This is Sherry, my father tired
with the host of the show. My fault too, Miss,
you know what I mean. I would like to say
it was good Senior Saturday, but it wasn't. You were
kind of out of order. It was a It was
a great gathering going on. Everybody in there was acting
(02:47):
mantable and behaving themself except one young man who gets
up gets loud and rowdy in the building. You know
what I mean. We had a special guest all the
way from Cleveland. We had a uh yeah, the Simmons
professor like the Gregory did an award winning movie with
with Kenny Lawton as the producer and uh she's a
(03:08):
professor at the Simmons College and the movies called I
forgot to tell you about a Cleveland team that won
a championship. Jack, can you.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
Believe that you've.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
Been to tight in Cleveland for a long time now?
I haven't seen that, not a championship now since Jim Brown.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
You're right.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Brown, Oh, gosh, George, you remember the anthont he wasn't
even born, but Bernie Cosaar and the Browns against the Denver.
I hate the brown because I still hate them today.
I'm glad they don't play it well. I'm telling you,
I can't stand it Lay beating us, scrambling, beating us
at the last second, two years in a row by
(03:50):
ours fumbling the ball going into the end zone. George,
I remember the Browns, trust me, but I did not
know anything about the baseball team.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
I did not, no, no, And it was great and
it was wonderful. See that Kenny Laughton supported Simmons Professor
Gregy and helped her to get the movie off the ground.
And he's now and people who know Kenny Laughton played
for Cleveland. He now owned this movie production coming and
he helped Simmons produce this movie and Open Doors. And
(04:18):
I thought it was a fantastic thing that the students
and her got together and made an award winning movie.
Jay and I loved the point how she told the movie.
She discovered doing the movie by taking her church and
back to Cleveland and thought she wanted to give him
some history of Cleveland and found this information about the
Black Negro League and then turned it into a movie.
(04:41):
I thought that was really fantastic, and y'all did a
great job of putting it out and having it done.
I thought it was really done well.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
It was vn Pertty did an excellent job of handling that.
She's vice president of marketing for Simmons. She did a
tremendous job. Here's how funny I want Anthony. You're young,
but George and r we're about to die. We understand
it's just the cycle of life. But how close you are? Okay, George,
and this is the truth and me George has mister
(05:09):
Lufton and I take a picture together. After he speaks,
we take a picture, shake hands and induce ourselves. I'm like, yeah,
just thanks for coming all those things. He's like yes.
He goes back to his table. George, Okay, they start
a little auctioning to get things going. I make a
little donation. Well by the time he says, I'll sign
everybody who makes a donation on the bats. Okay, so
(05:32):
another lady and I made donations, other people did, and
Kenny signed our bats. Well, George, I go back with
my bat for Kenny to sign. After you had us
take the picture.
Speaker 4 (05:43):
Guys.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
He's like, this is crazy. I'm looking at him, like,
what's crazy? He said, do you know that I know
Julia Richmond. I said, oh god, the late great, that's
my man. He says, you're not gonna believe this yeary
he said, what he said? I went to East Chicago, Washington.
He said, I google you. Sorry you played for Louisville.
Junior came to my mind, he says. Then when you
(06:04):
said you're buying the bats, that's why I stood up
and said I'm signing them because I wanted to tell you.
He went to East Chicago, Washington, Georgie. How small is
this world where Junior Virginia's High school?
Speaker 2 (06:15):
Well, I'll tell you how even small it is. Jay.
He was in Cleveland when Derek was in Cleveland. I
knew Kenny Luston when Derek played for the Cleveland Cavaliers,
you know what I mean. So I had a relationship
with him. Ause So I told him that when I
went over into down and talk to him, you know
what I mean.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
You know, it is a very very small world, very
very small world. He said, I googled you. So you
went to Louisville. He says, and all that came to
my mind. I got to tell you that I went
to school where Junior Ridge went to school. Boy in
small World, George Small World. So anyway, we had a
great time, and thank you for mister Lufton coming in
promoting it, helping him put it on. It was a
(06:54):
great deal.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
So here's what I have to say this, but that
that shows you the class of people. You know, people
always talk about money, money, money, money, but he showed
you the human side of him because he could have
just stayed out of this totally.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
You know.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
Miss miss Gilbert told him that she was having our
time getting a movie off the ground and people wouldn't
answer the questions. I talked to him and he said, well,
let me tell you this. Since they won't answer question,
you telling the Kenny Lofton is behind this, and see
how many doors are open for you. And she said
she went back and started calling people and said door
it just started springing open. And you would take the
(07:29):
time out to go to support this movie and think
her idea was fantastic, You get behind it. I just
thought that was a great story on how all that transpired.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
An Emmy Award winning movie George.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
Yes, sir, I forgot to say that life Emmy Award winner.
Let's bring it up like it should be.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
Like it should be. No, So it was a great weekend,
and that's why I had to see Georgia almost strangled him.
But I let him slide, Anthony, I let him slide.
I just want you all to know. It was almost
the end of George Williams.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
But here's what we got.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
We're at seven thirteen, you all, We're gonna go straight
through to seven thirty because that's when they open. Here're
a common left dodge, and I can pull my truck in,
do everything I need to do, and then I can
get sitt S seated for the second half of the show.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
So anybody cares about your truck, man.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Yes they do. It's so here's.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
Small, but that's like tell you a little man.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
So Anthony, we're gonna throw it to you for the
national news so that we can start to get into
what transpired. I mean, and everything was going on this weekend. George.
Great golf. I know you didn't watch it, George, but
Anthony and I did. Great golf, great football.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
I was putting though, Jerry, I know you're a putting
there you go, so Anthony, we're throwing it to you.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
So we got a lot of national news obviously going
on from this past weekend. Obviously for those who were watching,
we had a lot of golf going on, had Little
League Softball Warp series going on too, and actually, yeah,
and we had Floyd Knobbs that was playing the Little
League Softball World Series.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Congratulations with Floyd Knobbs. Yep, congratulations. Didn't get it done, George,
but played well.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
I saw it.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
So now here's my question for all our listeners, George
and Anthony. Ricky Bobby said, if you're not first your.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
Last throwing a Little League software word series under the
bus like.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
That, Ricky Bobby said, George, if you're not first your last,
then he says it at the end of the movie.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
To his dad.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
His dad since said I was high, kind of lost
my mind today, George, I'm sorry. That's what Ricky Bobby said.
Speaker 4 (09:45):
That makes sense.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
Why you're at the dealership at six o'clock in the morning.
We don't even open to a second. You're that guy
when we pull up there, you're already there waiting.
Speaker 4 (09:56):
No one.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
We're not even open yet.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
I won't, Rickie Bobby, I'm playing on being the first
one in line. When you get old, you understand you're
still too young to know you're right.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
I'm waiting for no. And don't let her tell you
that last because I don't go with his theory.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
Let me just tell Louisville. If you're not first, your last.
That's what Ricky Bobby said. Tell his dad told him
at the end of the show, son, how was high?
They had to throw him out of.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
The career day.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
That's why I'm looking for John. Now, Jay, have you
ever seen George?
Speaker 1 (10:29):
Have you watched the movie? Ricky Bobby, have you seen
the movie? And what's the name of the movie?
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Boy? No?
Speaker 4 (10:35):
Now, water Boy?
Speaker 1 (10:36):
What's the name of it as Talladega Knights, Talladega Knights.
If George, you've gotta watch it. It's the funniest movie
in the world. I'm telling you, George, it's old, but
it is so funny. I mean, it's funny, but anyway,
so I'm gonna leave it alone. No, congratulations, Floyd K.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
Nobbs.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
George should not have said if you're not first year last.
I didn't, George, I didn't do it. That was Ricky Bobby,
thank you, Thank you, my friend. You're going any continue.
Speaker 3 (11:11):
No, of course, obviously, even with the golf term we
had going on. Yesterday, Justin Rose did beat.
Speaker 4 (11:15):
Out Jacob's song.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
Whole Sun Death Match, which was amazing to watch. If
you didn't watch that yesterday, you miss You missed a treat.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
You missed a treat. Oh, George, you missed exciting golf.
Golf's hard to be exciting, George, I understand. Oh my goodness,
it was just phenomenal. Yesterday Anthony talked about Fleetwood. That
poor man, George. He's one of the best golfers that
hasn't won a tournament. George, I'm telling he could have
won by now twenty. He could be in the conversation
(11:45):
as one of the greatest golfers of this era. George.
He chokes every time, I mean every time. I've never
seen something like it ever. Can play go ahead and
tell them.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
He was up to He was up two strokes going
into the final three holes.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
It was bogey.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
Parr Park kind of scraped away and he actually bogeyed
the last, so we see bogey too. Out of last three,
Part one, Part seventeen, Justin Rose BIRDI four out of
his last five minute holes in a row to miss
the game winning put by about honestly by about two
inches to go into the sudden.
Speaker 6 (12:19):
Deal with JJ Spond but Tommy I flee would had
it in his hands and let it go. Scotti Shuffler
actually finished min fifteen time second. But for those who
didn't know that he actually had a sub out his
caddy midway through his round. Ted Scott had to leave
for a family emergency, so he had a different caddy
for about the second half of his round going into Sunday.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
Crazy.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
I just wish the family, well, it was crazy, George. Yes,
with Scotty, of course, he's always right there. He's the
greatest golfer. And if you read your ESPN, if you
go Jersey, always bring up what happened to Louisville when
they talk about Scotty. I'm telling you always, Georgia, I.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
Got a quarter match. Quite a match we have and
he just said that, you know, can't tell listeners. You know,
I'm not really an avid golfer, But tell us how
much that means to lose your caddy between the first
half of the round in the last half. How much
does that mean? And what does the caddies actually do
for the golfers, George.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
Caddies are huge. They help read greens, George. They help
calm down golfers. They are the coaches, George. People don't
look at it that way, but they are the coaches
to the players, George. Sometimes they I'm reading the greens.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
What do you mean, Jerry? I mean, you know, you're
saying things that all people that don't know golfers would
not understand.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
Greens are not flat. They look like that on television,
but they've got subtle turns and slopes. Some have huge
turns and slopes, George. And you have to have help
reading the greens. A lot of players really refer to
their caddies to read the greens. Some do it themselves,
but most will ask a second opinion of their caddy, George.
(13:58):
Their caddies always are telling them what club selection. A
golfer Anthony hits his pitching wedge one hundred and sixty
yards and the holes one hundred and sixty five yards away,
but the green is sloping downwards, then he might tell
them to hit a nine iron so that if it
rolls back it's pinned high. Don't hit it five feet
(14:19):
short because it'll roll back off the green. There's a
lot of mathematics going on, George. They know exactly the
pin placement on the greens. I could talk about caddies legitimately, George,
all day. It's a great question. I mean, you could
so many things.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
Do you keep the same caddy at all golf tournaments
or do you get new gas caddies for every.
Speaker 4 (14:41):
Ninety of the time, George.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
They keep their caddies. Now there comes time to time
that golfers do fire their caddies.
Speaker 4 (14:48):
George.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
They do.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
But I mean, I just want to know, you play
in different tournaments in different places. Do the thing.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
They travel with you, George, They stay with you, they communicate,
they eat with you those four days. I mean, they're
your spouse. They're the most important piece to the player
other than the clubs, which they make sure they keep
their hands on, and the course. George, without a doubt,
they're huge, Okay, they're just they're really really important. Yeah, no,
(15:17):
really important, great question, Jor. Truly they're really important. So
Anthony JJ spawn hits a twenty five foot birdie putt.
We think that Justin's gonna choke. What does he do?
I mean, George, it was exciting, even though you can't
scream and yell until after they make the putts. It
was really pay per view, pay per view. So jj
(15:41):
spawn's pretty good to it. He had a great play.
Speaker 4 (15:43):
Well.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
The winner walk out with three many We've talked about money.
Three million dollars guys, just so we know when I
think walked out with three zero point six million dollars.
Just a little money, George, not much, just a little bit.
And Anthony received something to Joe, what are the caddies received?
And you remember, did they get ten percent of the purse?
Speaker 4 (16:06):
They don't know.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
It depends.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
So I even watched a video when Scotti Scheffler did
a breakdown. They're asking how much their caddies get paid out.
A lot of times percentages, they said, usually when they
if they win the tournament, they'll give them ten percent.
In some cases they placed anywhere from second, third, fourth,
or fifth. It can be anywhere from you know, four
percent all the way out to seven eight percent, just
depending on their contract that they have with their caddy.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
Gotcha, yes, yes, so George, three point six million to
the winner. Somebody walked away with three hundred plus thousand
dollars to be a caddy, George, not a.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
Bad day for I can live with that.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
You can live with that. Not a bad days for work.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
I mean, really, I got one last question. The caddies
ever turned into golfers?
Speaker 1 (16:50):
George. A lot of cavy caddies are golfers, very good golfers.
They just could not break through. I have not seen
a caddy go to the Pro Tour and win, but
I've seen them leave the pro Tour and turn into caddies.
Have you, Anthony, I'm not, George, I'm not that. Don't listeners,
don't go crazy on me. I'm not saying it's not happened.
I just don't know about it, Okay, George. But most
(17:13):
of the caddies have played in college, yes, yes, exactly,
and then they end up caddying for their friends or
their family members. George, end up sert caddy in for them,
and you have to trust your caddy. It's crazy. There's
a lot, just like we trusted coach Crumb at the end.
He was going to do the right thing, even all
(17:33):
the way. I want people to understand. You're talking about
nineteen eighty championship game. He had been in two final
fours Junior Bridgeman's team and Henry Bacon's team and George
Daryl Griffer will tell you now he pulls them a
coat tails. You had to shoot it. And know what
Daryl Griffin said, shoot at ball, Jerry, not preferred Dame ball, Jerry.
(17:54):
He did so, Darryl trusted coach. Is the same with
your caddy. Just that important, yep, just that important, Georgan.
So no, great question, great question. So now look we're
at seven twenty three, Anthony, you got anything else that
you're gonna hold the rest for tomorrow? You got anything
else you want to get out other than the football.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
You know we're going to get one thing goes to
get up before break. I know when we were talking
about a lot, but the preseason in the NFL, obviously
for the player from the Lions that got the game short,
he actually got into a bad tackle that actually calls
him out a seizure and going to Kardiak arrest and
was roster.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
No yes, noise.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
Preseason football and football alone is brutal. It's not the
same preseason like the NBA or the MLB. Avery the
player that moves their life in preseason football just trying
to make the team, not even on the.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
Team yet, George, did I sent it to you? Did
you see the clip, George of him on the ground seizure.
I don't know if anyone else got to watch it. God, guys,
football is brutal. That's why I tell everyone we're gonna
get in the second half of the show about how
Louis was going to break up its name engine like
this money when it comes to football, I tell people
(19:04):
all the time. I don't want to hear all that.
Football players every play get in their lives, definitely in
their careers. It's not for long, Anthony, George, you don't
probably heard, Georgie. You know what happened to Rondelle Moore? Anthony,
what happened to Randale?
Speaker 2 (19:21):
I was looking at that game?
Speaker 1 (19:23):
Mm hmmmm.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
Anthony A nice young man too. I like Ndale a
whole lot.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
Great young man. Tell them what happened to Rondale, Anthony.
This happened.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
I think it was a kick off for a punk return.
He was coming back and somebody said they did a
hit maneuver on him and it went for his left
me and as soon as he got hit, he immediately
went down and grabbed that left me. The reports of
them came up.
Speaker 6 (19:45):
With the exact injury is, but they're assuming an A
C O N N C L tear to his other
and he told anything is last season when he was
out with the Falcons, he tours a he on his other.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
Leed Georgia right now. We tell people all the time
football stands for not for long. And these guys Brady
playing twenty plus years and these guys playing longer. Dyck's
playing ten, twelve, fourteen, Aaron Rodgers eighteen. They're very normal guys.
That league is brutal. I tell people don't when they're
(20:23):
saying football players don't earn their They earn everything, y'all
praise they're hitting the kill every solitary play they're not playing.
I think guys, it was frightening George Church, that man
with the seizure was frightened. I don't know if people
say it was frightened yoll Lee.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
Well, you know, Jeed, two things I want to say
on that that that regard you know you, I give
you credit. You always tell your students when you coach,
and now to look at you coach them many a
day and you would always tell them this sports is
not an occupation, it's an application. So if you really
(21:01):
want to make it in life, you better have an
occupation in mind, because this may not last long. And Jered,
I'm gonna tell you one time I was playing and
I was checking the guy and he went down. I
went to sail about your headed, and he just started
trembling and kicking and stuff, and I didn't realize it
stopped me. He went to a CIJ Jared. That's got
to be one of the scary it things you'll see
(21:23):
when you're playing against a player and he does that. Man,
I mean, it totally streaked me out, you know what
I mean. I was like, whoa. I mean, I just
checked him and all of a sudden, damn, just that quick,
he went to a cijer you know. But he was
able to be saved, so you know, it all came
out well. But it is a fightening moment for everybody.
I mean, you just don't really know what's going on,
(21:43):
what to do, who the holler for? You know, It's
just it's totally scary to watch.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Mister Norris's body just shaking head to toe. Arms.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
Yeah, I was looking at the dawn on them up.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
He was like, oh, I just yesterday Saturday. It was
just I'm like, that's oh yeah, earn their college athletes,
they earn their money. It just is CTE is real.
It's not fake. And guys, those offensive linemen are running
into brick walls every play. They're running in each other,
smashing each other. Gosh, I love it. I love it.
(22:17):
But it's for real and everyone knows. Keep it in
Layman's terms, athletics is not a career. Please tell the
parents of all these superstar kids they think they have.
It's a vitamin pill on steroids, gives you a nice
jump on life. But it is not life. It's too short.
It's all there is to It is done for ninety
nine percent of people. It's done it twenty eight years old.
(22:39):
Ninety nine percent of the athletes, which is only two
percent of the entire world. George, not even two percent.
I'm lying. You understand what I'm saying, George. You gotta
find something to do. You're gonna find something to do
twenty eight.
Speaker 2 (22:53):
You know, and and they're gonna go through this. Now.
Everybody asks you all the time, how long will my
son play? We have my son play? And you know,
they always think I'm being sarcastic, Jail, And I always
you know, I always say this, King and son read God,
so that legbility will not be the thing that's gonna
carry them over. What is he planning on doing after
(23:14):
this game is over? And if he's not planning to
get an education, Jail, I'm planning to get himself a
vocation then he I mean, yeah, he's not gonna be
around pretty much long time, you know what I mean.
So it's like you just said, yeah, it's not something
that you better plan on being a lifetime career.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
No, no, exactly. And like you said, George, the trades
please parents. Hey there's brick layers, plumbers, electrician, come on, guys, drywall, roofing.
There's so many things where you can make a great living.
And we have gotten away from that. We need to
continue going back to the trade school things, mechanics. Right here,
(23:49):
guys are making all kind of seventy eight hour please.
Just college is the only way.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
Don't think what sports does. It just gives you the
capital to open up your business. That's what you gotta
think of it. I'm working for my capital. I'm not
going to the bank.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
So gods were at seven twenty nine and they should
be raising the door soon. Here's the all right, that's
not funny, George, And I'm glad you didn't Ricky Bobby
Talladega nights. If you're not first your last, I've got
(24:25):
people in their car saying it, George, you just haven't
seen the movie. Funniest can be. And I'm not high.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
Okay, yes you are.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
All the time. So when we come back, come back,
we're gonna talk a little bit about guys, the football games.
Of course you heard I just started my truck. We're
gonna talk about the football games. And I'm gonna read
Welcome back to Eve Sports Radio. When I am telling
you all that I am sitting at the coaches corner
(25:00):
at Kamon of Dodge. It's the manager station, George, and
truly on the front it says Coach's corner, so I said, well,
it's my seat. So since I'm sitting here in Kenny Blanton,
ceed he's the general manager the common lof Dodge, George.
The key drawers open, Anthony, you know what it is.
The key drawers open. That's all I know. Guys, come
(25:21):
on down. I'm selling them cheap.
Speaker 4 (25:23):
That's all there is to it.
Speaker 1 (25:25):
I need to paint my house. I need a few updates.
So come on down and get your dodge. I'm ready, George.
I can handle the whole deal. George. Hey, I'll sell wash.
Speaker 4 (25:36):
I can do it all.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
Excuse me, Jared, Anthony, what go get Dad help today?
Speaker 4 (25:42):
Please? We can't.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
We can't let it go no longer. And they please
get Dad help. That's all I can say. Go ahead.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
Yeah, they should have never allowed me in here, George.
Speaker 4 (25:53):
They allowed.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
By myself, George, by myself on a beautiful day. I
see the key, I see the cars. Guys. I can
write the contracts. That's all I'm telling you. Come on down.
You won't believe the savings you'll save today. But you
better be here before everyone gets here because we'll all
get locked up.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
Yeah, you'll be wearing the uniform. You'll be wearing.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
Tomb will be more like orange.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
You may not be able to do the radio show,
and let's had to come visit you exactly.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
So look here, guys, Anthony, you touched a little bit
on the football and we all know the excitement around
Shador Sanders. But there were a lot of people playing today, George.
I mean a lot of people I saw Tyler Shuck play,
University of Louisville's quarterback with the Saints. I saw Jack
Plumber play two years ago. That's the thing, George, I'm
(26:44):
gonna throw a question out at you and Anthony. Louisville
has been really successful these last two years. Coach Brown's
been really successful, guys, let's be that's the fact of
the matter. I think what nine and four, ten and
two has been his record the last two years. My
question to you is that does Louisville have the same
success with Miller mass George? Does he step in? Both
(27:06):
these guys are pro quarterbacks.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
Does he step in and do that?
Speaker 1 (27:09):
That's the only question.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
Well, you know, well Jared to be too. You know
we talk about this all the time. You know, I
don't believe in a player too he sets up across
those lines. Yeah, then that's when he can tell me.
You know, there's a whole lot of hype that comes
with a whole lot of different people. I don't believe
in hype. I believe in you know, how you respond
to the situation. And then I see him get on
(27:33):
that stiel j and play against competition. I won't judge
him about being good because a lot of people have
outstanding records and resumes, but when it comes time, when
it showtime, they don't show up.
Speaker 1 (27:44):
Oh, most don't show up, George. That's I'm glad you
said that.
Speaker 2 (27:46):
And that's why I judge of Maryland.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
Don't show up. So, I mean most don't show up.
That's just the real deal. So, and what do you
think does Miller Moss continue. They're calling coach Brown the
quarterback whisperer. The last two have been huge successes. We
know that Tyler's got a chance to start for the Saints.
Got me? So, Anthony, your opinion, does Miller Mall step in?
Speaker 3 (28:12):
It's fifty to fifty.
Speaker 4 (28:13):
I'm just not sold on.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
It's hard for me to be convinced on people that
bounce around from school to school every year. Now be like, oh,
he's a good play. If you'l so good, why didn't
he stay at his last school?
Speaker 1 (28:23):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (28:24):
I'm just like that.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
But but we can say that on the other two quarterbacks,
Tyler transfer Jack came from Purdue. We could say that, Anthony,
but I.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
Agree with you.
Speaker 3 (28:34):
But Tyler Shutt came as a grad transfer.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
It was his fifth year.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
Miller Makin is not he's not a grad transfer.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
Okay, good point, great point.
Speaker 4 (28:44):
No, I agree with that.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
I agree with you.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
Now.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
Guys, see, George don't even know his boy designed children.
He's gonna be a nickelback Wildcat three year starter for
the Cowboys. I watched him, and I didn't see him
until last night. In the replay, George, I was getting
for the show. It's ten forty five. I'm watching the
NFL channel. The Cowboys game was on. The Chargers were
kicking the mess out of him, but he played well. Hey, George,
(29:09):
you got a couple of Cats out there that are
playing well. I mean it was a I love football, guys,
Louisan and Kentucky. Both teams are represented. I mean, what
about the Bills. You got Maxwell Harriston and you got
Walker out there, both of them playing for the Bills. George,
cats are represented.
Speaker 4 (29:28):
Well, that's expected, Jay.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
No, it's not.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
And he sees something wrong with that one. But no,
both teams are doing really well this year. Yeah, really well.
But you know, you know, Jerry, what it really tells
you is that because you're on a certain team doesn't
tell you what kind of talent the bob player had.
Because the NFL looks at different things that we don't
look at as fans. You know, we talked, well, the
team was tell but they couldn't have been good, and
he's not one of the best, and the NFL goes
and drafts him in the third or second round and
(29:57):
knocks everything out. That's who I love, any guy who
wouldn't go somewhere. And that's the question I was gonna
ask you now, the looked like a fifth round draft
choice the other night that I have they made a mistake.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
Well, again, George, we were gonna talk about it on Monday.
On Friday, we just didn't get to it because the
college went.
Speaker 4 (30:17):
We didn't But though that's a big difference. You know,
we women speculate now, but we actually got to see
them the other night.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
Yes, and here's what I'm trying to tell you, George,
directly to your question. I wanted. I wish we would
have gotten to it on Friday, but everyone knows we
were going to talk to I was gonna tell people that, No,
I'm glad, George, I had to make the team. I
wasn't dryl Griffiths, I wasn't Derrick Anderson. I did not
have a make good contract George, I.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
Had to go and.
Speaker 1 (30:50):
Guys, most people, I want you everyone to understand. That's
why that first round is so much glamours and money
is but they usually have they guaranteed contract and teams
are gonna give them a chance. Chador had to play well. Yes,
on Friday or Saturday, he would have gotten cut. George.
He had to get it done. That's the difference I
(31:13):
want and George, No, he was not set up. We
listened to the tape of Riddick on Friday, saying with
Shador and Sanders set up. No, you all, pro sports
is about getting it done. It's not about making it cushy, cushy.
It is about getting it done, period, point blank. Now
did the young man do that? You know what, without
a doubt, without a doubt, Go ahead, George, and no,
(31:35):
I'm gonna hit Anthony.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
One of the things that I was even more impressed
with ja he wasn't out there with the starting line,
you know, no start string, and still performed like he
performed that started for me.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
Yes, yes, Bryce young was playing well. Let's throw it
to Anthony. Yes, Anthony, what did you think about Shador's
efforts against your team, the Panthers?
Speaker 3 (32:03):
I didn't get to see the game after in person.
I just saw the stats, but his stats were impressive
to savor, to say the least. I just know that
I knew that before even they played the game that
he wasn't the fifth round pick. I mean, I know
Louisville fans are gonna hate me, but the Dorre Sanders
is night and dig against Tyler Schuck in comparison to
skill wise.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
But it's true. Yes, it's the truth. Not close. I
don't care anybody say not close, not athletically, not close.
But I mean, George, here's my issue fourteen for twenty
three hunting thirty eight yards. He looked like he was
in control of the situation. Yes, he took a sack,
(32:47):
and he went back to that college days. Georgie ran
backwards about thirty yards one time before he got rid
of the ball. It's just not college and you just, honestly,
there's two guys that can do crazy things. He's not
that one, Josh Allen. The others Labar Jackson.
Speaker 4 (33:03):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
Those two guys can do freaky things with their legs.
The rest of you you have to play good, clean
quarterback football, which he did. George but he was polished.
He made the right players, He put the ball in
tight windows.
Speaker 4 (33:17):
He played well.
Speaker 1 (33:18):
There are a few other young guys that played well
also out there at the quarterback position, but there was
a spotlight on that kid. He had no reps with
the first team at all all year. There were no
starters out there with him. He played against starters, but
there were no starters. Bryce Young, starting quarterback for the
Panthers started, So did you door Sanders? He played? He
(33:40):
played very well. So now Cleveland is going to have
to make decisions with their rosters. And I guarantee you,
even if they let you or go wild, they you
do guys, someone would pick him up. There's no question
about that.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
So you don't have to wait and see.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
Like that. I always say, you're playing for other team.
Speaker 4 (33:58):
Now you just not playing. You're sitting in your resume.
I have to multiple teams, JA and I say, watching
him play, there are enough teams in the NFL that
hope the cut him.
Speaker 1 (34:10):
Absolutely Now they definitely do, no question about it. So great.
I'm just let football is back. We had what at
night man, We've got to get the break go ahead.
Jersey sent me hit make it quick, A seving forty four.
We gotta get the break and plays.
Speaker 4 (34:23):
I was just talking about his vicinity and the way
he passed last year. Jard for them to sit back,
and I just can't believe that the man went in
fifth round anyway, But that's another story for another day.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
Yeah, it is George. That's I I mean, I am
not an NFL scout. I love the NFL. Yes, I've
done basketball scouting, and yes we have taken players that
people would say hmm. One of them was Jamal mcglore, great,
Kentucky Wildcat.
Speaker 4 (34:48):
Great.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
I'm telling you all, guys from Canada, the best person
you'll ever run across. Had a mean street you wouldn't believe,
but I loved you. George. My team, my team saw
him in Indianapolis. About my Simmons team. We stayed overnight,
played Marian in Indianapolis and we were in the mall
together and next thing I know, George, I got a
bear hug. My players are looking with their eyes huge,
(35:12):
I mean a huge ground. I'm like, who is grabbed
me an indy? Small?
Speaker 4 (35:17):
Oh? My huge.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
I turned around as Jamal mcglore, we hugging and kiss him.
I mean hugging and kissing. I worked him out. He
was tubbe Smith said directly, Jerry. We didn't let him
shoot the seventeen foot, but he can. He was a
great player that everyone was like, you took Jamal mcglure.
Sometimes they don't know what you see and what you know,
but yes, and everybody knows after that what his career is.
(35:39):
Assistant coach now for Toronto doing super But people don't
know everything. When it comes to the draft, they don't break.
We'll get back.
Speaker 4 (35:48):
You gotta get the break.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
Eight. We gotta go to break. Shut it. Eastports Radio
Why five said, I know, George, I gotta play some bills.
Speaker 4 (35:58):
I don't like to, but I have to.
Speaker 1 (36:00):
Forty nine hundred. Welcome back to eve Swarts Radio. Can't
believe it, but the show is over. It is seven
point fifty two. I've got Anthony's George Williams on the
line with me. I'm a Commonwealth dodge. They have moved
me in the office because they're cleaning out the four
year and the lobby, so I had to leave the
(36:21):
coach's corner. I told you all, if you get here
on time, you got about eight minutes. I'm selling them cheap.
That's all I'm saying, just make sure you walk out
with the title and I signed it, because other than
that we might be going to jail. I'm selling them though.
It's that cheap, but I'm guarantee you without a doubt,
Billy Hayes that in mind. Billy, do you mind? See
he didn't say anything, George, Soill, We're good, Billy. You
(36:44):
should have smoke up. That's so you better call it show, Billy.
That's all I can tell you because I'm selling them cheap.
So guys, George, we'll have about two minutes. I'm going
to touch and get into what's in today's career journal.
People have a chance to read it. Navigating a new landscape, George,
that's what it says. University was investing its twenty point
(37:08):
five million in football, basketball programs, volleyball, and baseball. And
there's some slight explanations from Anthony director Josh Hurd. That's
done a remarkable job. I mean, bringing in Kelsey, letting
my boy Kenny go. He hired my man Kenny, gave
him again. In athletics, he gave him an opportunity. That's
(37:29):
all I ask. That mean you get it done in sports.
Sports is brutal. I've done it my entire life, and
you must. When you get your chance, you gotta get
it done. But George Shador played well. I'm just happy
because there was so much speculation that the kid couldn't play.
That was the deal, George. A lot of people just
didn't think he could play at all.
Speaker 4 (37:50):
In my opinion, they must have didn't watched Colorado or
Jackson State. I mean, Jay, I mean something that I
test got. You just got to the a test. Couldn't
listen to other people tell you what they're doing if
you wasn't the guy had to know what twenty five Well,
when the best percentage passes in the country, when the
top pack touchdown passing quarterbacks in the country, you know,
(38:13):
I don't know what you're looking at? What more you
want from your quarterback?
Speaker 1 (38:17):
Interest in common? George?
Speaker 2 (38:18):
I mean?
Speaker 4 (38:19):
And then what are the winners?
Speaker 1 (38:20):
Very yes, and pro programs. Here's the deal, though, guys,
it's so easy in America right now. We all want
to jump up and down on the race card. But guys,
we've got black quarterbacks everywhere everywhere. Guys, that's not that
used to be. When my brother played in nineteen sixty eight, yes,
that was an issue. But guys, we had black quarterbacks
everywhere now, I mean super Bowl champs. That's not what
(38:44):
was the issue with the kid, George? I mean it's
easy to say the race car. That's not. Come on, Georg,
they're black quarterbacks everywhere in this league. What was the issue?
Would you do? Or was it that truly his dad
had clout or they had some money? What was the issue? George?
It wasn't that he was black? What's the issue?
Speaker 4 (39:00):
Yeah? A lot of time here in America we can't.
We always want athlete to be confident and tell you
what he feels and what he thinks, and how he thinks,
and what highest game he reflects. You sees his game.
And when you go and you tell the truth to
the media, Jed, they find a way to roast you,
talk about your egis, talking about you don't respect that,
you don't respect that. You know so, Jed, he's the
(39:21):
one in one way another. If you want me to
tell you the truth, then they able to handle the truth.
If you can't take the truth, then don't ask me
those questions. The young man is a confident young man.
He believes in his game, and he spoke like he
felt and they didn't want to accept that. Jed. That's
the basically all you can say that he did George
in college.
Speaker 1 (39:37):
Here's the deal, George. You just shut the door on it. George,
great Inding. This is E Sports Radio, God Willing, will
be back tomorrow. Have a beautiful day. Let me tell
you something. You're not dressed fully if you don't have
a smile on your face. Let me say it one
more time. You're not dressed fully if you don't have
a smile on your face. E Sworts Radio. I love you,
Bye Bye.
