Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to Eves Sports Radio. Yes, it is Friday.
Thank god, it's Friday, August the fifteenth, twenty twenty five.
Beautiful day outside. I hope everyone goes out, gets a
little son on their face, puts a smile on their face.
You're not fully addressed if you do not have a
smile on your face and have a wonderful day. Welcome
(00:22):
back to eve Sports Radio. Here's the deal. We understand
that the phone number is five zero two, five seventy
nine hundred. That is the number, five zero two, five
seventy nine hundred. We have got Rick behind the glass
and is working for Matt Jones today. So we've got Rick.
Welcome to sitting in. Rick, thank you, good to be here.
(00:43):
Jessy Early, absolutely no question, thank you, and of course
we'll have our little host. We're a minus A host today. Rick.
Do not expect my son to call in, OK, had to.
I had to put him on punishment, and I spanked
him and put him on punishment. He's got his nose
in the in the corner of the wall right now.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
So he's in time out today, right.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
I don't believe in time out. I believe in physical abuse.
And then go to the corner. I'm gonna get in
trouble for that. Rick, I didn't say that. George Williams
said that. George Williams home. Please, Hey George, you shouldn't
say those things on the radio.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
Hey man, I don't know what's gonna happen, but I
know your son's gonna be ready for you Monday. That's
all I can tell you. Brother, that wasn't a good
thing to say about him. You know, he gets he
gets personal.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
He is George, and he put his nose in the corner.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
George, that's Jerry. You must be hallucinating this morning. Okay,
we never know who you are. Who are you today?
Muhammad Ali? Jerry exactly?
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Al, that's all.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
But I wanted to say something to you, Jerry, and
I I always give you a hard time, but I
got to you. I mean, well, let me first of all,
let me say, are you still still back in the Ridds?
I know, I know you got the Cubs, the Reds,
the Dallas Cowboys, the Cleveland Browns and several other teams
that you support. Are you still supporting the Rigs now?
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Absolutely?
Speaker 3 (02:14):
And then you have and then you had the Chicago
Cubs and you had the New York I.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Had the Cubs when Madden was the manager, and they
won it. George, Yes, I just.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
And then you dropped him, and then you dropped him
and he went to another team, and then they went downhill.
But I gotta say that your rigs are if you
still back in the Red, you may not be back
in the Red. That's why they win it. I guess
that could be the reason. You know, man, I'm sure
you say nothing about him in a long time, but
they went in there. Now that you left them, you
notice that, George, don't you have to mention their name
and the Ridds the only chance and winning getting into
(02:44):
the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
I promise you. I promise you that. The middle of
the week last week, I brought up the Reds. I
told them I don't mention them because people say I
jinged them. But they had the same record as the Yankees.
I talked about it, George. They had record as Butcher's Yankees,
so I had to let people know. Now, the Yankees
are sixty four and fifty seven, but George, the Reds
(03:08):
have really improved. Sixty four and fifty eight.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
Y're only half a.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
Game behind the Yankee so people are gonna have to
give the Reds little credit. But you're right, George, I've
kept the Reds out of my mouth because it seems
like when I speak about them, they go down. So
I haven't on purpose, but I did do it last week.
I did.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
Well, I see, that's what we've been recommending Jerry for
a long time. If it came wants to win and
you want a team to win, as long as you
don't talk about them, they got side the title bother them.
Well that's about the Reds. There probably gonna go in
the three games.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
You wrote about, George, I didn't.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
They do Okay, Okay, you going back. I can take it, Yes, sir,
that's what he said.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
That that's the truth I said. I just want everyone
to know last week that the Reds and the Yankees
have the same record, and I'm gonna leave it alone
because I have people calling in telling me keep the
Reds out of my mind. So I've left them alone
for a reason.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
So you're you're gonna follow I.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
Don't understand, George. I do kind of know, so I've
left him alone.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
Continue Okay, I knew you hadn't talked about him, and
they were winning, and I knew that they wouldn't be
winning if you were talking about him, So I was.
I said, well, I got to get credit. But then
I thought again, I don't know if you're still supporting
that team or not, because you know you have a
lot of teams that you you will drop a team
in a minute. That's one thing I say about you
and come back to him if you will come.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
Back at the wind No, it's two game winning streak.
I followed the Reds. I just don't say anything about
them because if they start to lose, You'll kill me.
You will kill me.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
I'm not that I'm not that guy. Yeah, I don't
know why you would say that. I would. I would
always recognize your ability to pick teams and most of
them losers. But that's okay.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
Hey, Rick, just cancel the show. George Williams is now
he doesn't smoke anything, but I don't know what he's smoking. George,
what are you smoking?
Speaker 3 (05:03):
Come on, man, well, come on, beautiful thing happened yesterday day, Jerry.
I want to continue because I know once you start talking,
I won't get none other energy wise. But I'm gonna
say this now. Yes, Jair, I went to the West
End Girls' School. They cut the ribbon yesterday. You're talking
about a beautiful ceremony, Jerry. I mean those young men.
(05:25):
The principal got up and called four men young me
and I the stands, told them to come up at Jeri.
They did their pledge to their school and went their
school mentor her man and all the young men stood
up with ties and shirts on. Jerry, You're talking about
a moving moment. And then to see them little young
girls come up right and get ready to get their
school named into them after them, Jerry. They had the
(05:47):
little kid, the little ladies cut the ribbon yesterday, Jaiir,
which was very very cute, because you know, you usually
get the dignitaries. But Man, I just I just seen
some beautiful pictures. And like uh Paul said yesterday, when
you go in that school, you're gonna come out because
of the School of Smiles. And I see why. Now,
when you went out of that jail, you were so proud,
(06:07):
you know, I mean you were peacock proud and you
may not even had a child in that school. But
to see what those teachers have done with those young people, man,
and all of them are reading above. Uh, academic level.
All of them are doing Master for the academic level. Jair,
they if not had one kid that didn't graduate. They
went to the school it was and then Jared, the
school was built in the completely out of debt. It
was just a fantastic and moving moment.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
No. I saw it on television, George, and yes, females
now are being admitted to the West End Women's School.
So excellent, George. I'm glad you were there. I'm sure
you were in. It looked really, George, really touching.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
And I got to get credit, uh to continue the
tradition of the family. Missus Dawts DAWs Bridgeman was there
to represent and Uh, I thought it was fantastic that
she came out to represent. And you know, because Junia
was really behind that school a lot, and she's now
taking over the lead ings and she's doing it look
like a fantastic out for community as her husband once did.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
George, we all know that that was an inspiration of
Daryl Griffith. We know that Junior Bridgmand really backed it strongly.
I'm glad to hear I did not know that tidbit, George.
That's a great piece that she is now Junior's wife
starting to get back out into the community, and that's
really good to hear. And George, we haven't spoke. I
want people to understand that we have not spoke. But
I've got a clip of Daryl Griffith that we're going
(07:27):
to play after the break that you've got to listen to.
So it's kind of funny you segued into that. Now
here's what we got, George seven thirteen.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
Yes, sir, and I.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
Wanted everyone to know that there is no more you'll
hear the moment my commercials for the last time today
with a Bluegrass outing Her Vine, the originator, the father
of Andy Vine, Mike Vine, Jim Haynes, brother in law,
Sarah daughter have now officially sold which used to be
(07:59):
Bluegrass Automotive, which was now Louisville Audi Germaine Group. Ermain
Group out of Columbus has purchased Bluegrass OUTI. They're coming
into town. They're going to be a major player in
this city. I'm going to get the owner on my
show really soon. They're just going through all the changes
right now. I hope to hold them as a sponsor.
(08:22):
I don't think I'll have a problem doing that. But
I wanted everyone to know that it was sixty plus
years that her Vine built the Bluegrass Automotive label and
family run, and I mean family run. They were there
every day at work, Jim Haynes, Mike and Andy. And
it's a sad day, it really is to see a
(08:44):
family that built started from scratch. George Herb Vine was
a lot of money. I want people to understand that
his family didn't come from money, got an opportunity in
the car business selling cars, got an opportunity to get
a dealership, and sixty plus years later they have now
moved to the ship. But we all know that Porsche
range Rover, all the top end Maserati, Audi alphabro they
(09:06):
had everything. So I just wanted to say congratulations to
the Vine family. Sad day really is. And the best
of luck to the Germaine Group. Yes, my son and
daughter still work there. Frank is now manager for the
Germane Group. My daughter has always been the warranty manager
for the portion side. So best the luck to the
(09:28):
new owners. And I just want to give a round
applause to the Vine family what they've done for esports
radio and the community. So that's all so George, we're
going to go to break seven fifteen. When we come back,
we're going to hear the one and only Daryl Griffith
speaking about what a pro franchise does for a city. So, George,
(09:52):
they're going to get to hear a different perspective, not
minding yours. Then know where we stay in, George, but
you're going to get to hear Daryl speaking about it.
It really surprised. After the break is e Sports Radio
pH numbers five zero, two, five seven, one, seventy nine hundred.
We have the one and only bring you. We're gonna
talk about that basketball schedule. No rings in the future
for you, George. After the break, Welcome back to Eve's
(10:16):
Sports Radio. Get back in that corner. I didn't tell
you could get out of that corner yet, Anthony, Oh
excuse me, you'll try to hear that. I don't you
try to hear that, George.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
I can't well know what I'm gonna do with you, boy,
but just back in that corner.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
I get this, I get the switch out again. George.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
I'm glad we aren't going to the studio Jay when
people know where you located.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
Nick, George Williams said, Yet George Williams made those statements.
Address is forty three oh two. George, I'll give out
your dress, you know I will.
Speaker 3 (10:56):
Now, here's the deal I told you. Oh, I ain't
beating up on you. Don't get a confused. Hey, you
know what I always told you, Jack, first talk, first walk.
They come to my house. You know how they're going
to after this.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
That I told you told no question, George. I am
a snitch all that I didn't tell you. No, I'm
like the comedians. I'm snitching right away, George dal Griffin.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
They them get back in that come out so you
can come out of that corner yet and they knows
right in the crack of that corner, George, we all
understand after.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Corporal punishment at the George, I got spankings. I just
want people to know I got spanking. George deserve deserved them, George. No, George,
I'm gonna tell you what I'd rather take. The spanking
whatever you called it, the beating, I don't courage you
called it and said I can go back outside, and
they just said you got staying for three days out
(12:01):
to kill myself. Will you talk about George.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
Stay in the house, explaining and have to stay in
for a week there, Oh no, and just look out
the door and couldn't bad.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
You know, wouldn't have happened, George. I run away from home.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
George.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
I couldn't have done it. I could not have stayed that.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
I was part of the regiment.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
Jed.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
Now for me, I was you know, when you get
a whooping, you got a weekend dose too, buddy. I
got the windown and clean up the house a whole week.
That's what everything was in my house.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
That is cruel.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
That was my grandmother.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
You got thirty second adjustment, Like dare say, give me
a thirty second attitude adjustment and send me on my way.
That's all I needed. I turned out. It turned out okay, George.
So there's the deal. You're gonna hear Gris talking about
NBA franchises, George and what it does for cities. I
came across is yesterday. I had never heard this before.
(12:59):
I'm like, well, this is an interesting kidbit. I want
people to listen closely because I send it to Coach Beard,
who now lives in Phoenix. They'll be going a week
from today and they'll be in Phoenix. George, no more
in New York, No more New York. A week from today.
They leave a week from today. And I'm gonna tell
you all what he spoke about after. But Rick, do
me a favor. Let's play Daryl Griffith. That's where I
(13:21):
ever played with in my career.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
Then do you think the NBA was the the.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
City?
Speaker 5 (13:28):
The nucleus of the NBA is anytime you get a
protein is gonna be growth.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
Right.
Speaker 5 (13:33):
And when I went to Salt Lake City, their airport
was smaller than our old airport. It was there was
nothing out there. Now they got monorail systems. They get
ready to build an airport. They expand on that the new airport,
which is twice the size of hour, well three times
the sizes of all They get ready to build airport
compatable to Atlanta. And whereas we got one high rise
(13:55):
condo downtown, they got six.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
I mean, that city has grown unbelievable.
Speaker 5 (14:00):
And I told Mary Fisher he was going out there
to the conventional marriage. I said, come back and let
me know what you think. And I seen him at
the game. He said, girl, he said, blows me away.
If I tell all my former players, if they ain't Minnesota,
they said, you gotta go.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
Your mouth will drop. It's amazing.
Speaker 5 (14:14):
They tore down about two miles downtown, rebuilt them. They
got cheesecake factory downtown, they got Chiefcake Factory out.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
I mean, it's just I just it just blows me away.
Speaker 5 (14:23):
But the NBA, then is the core of that sort
of growth because it retains youth.
Speaker 6 (14:28):
That's what they always tell.
Speaker 5 (14:29):
Us, and that's the key people underestimate, and I think
this city does too. The entertainment value of the public.
It's so important, especially when you want to retain talent.
Where your talent goes to in Annapolis, Nashville, Cincinnati, Atlanta, Charlotte, guys.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
I just thought y'all should hear that different perspective now, George,
these are the facts. Of course, I've been fortunate enough
to where I travel extends and I do, and like
Geryl says, I've been to Salt Lake City numerous times,
probably ten times in the last ten years. George. It's
amazing the growth of Salt Lake City. And when I
(15:12):
went two years after Daryl, he was one hundred percent correct.
You could drive your car. You could drive your car
to the front, almost to the tirec it was so
close George, the airport was so small and park right
next to it, I mean right next to walking in.
There were none of this. All the scans that we
have you could just go through, George, get on your plate.
(15:33):
Not now, it's huge. The airport is truly a city
in itself. The growth of Salt Lake City is amazing,
and it is disappointing for people like Darrel. You all
got to hear him myself, Coach Beard. Phoenix was the
exact same way, George. In nineteen eighty two. The first
time I had ever flown into Phoenix was with the
(15:54):
Utah Jazz. I'd never gone to Phoenix for a college game,
and when we landed, I was like, hmmm, just like
stand fulfilled. Not now, George. I mean, it's a city
in itself, So our leaders do need to look at
what we've done here. You heard Daryl speak about Nashville, George,
which you know about. I don't have to tell you. Memphis,
(16:15):
which you know about. I don't have to tell you.
The growth of those cities is phenomenal. And George, Nashal
all they had was the Grand Ole Operate. Let's just
be honest. Come on, they got hockey, they got football,
Come on you all. So I'm still pushing our leaders
in this city. We need to do whatever we can
do to get a pro franchise in Louisville. I don't
(16:36):
care if we've got to start having public fundraisers like
the Pacers did to keep the Pacers. George, we have
to do everything to let the NBA know we will
do what we have to do to get a franchise here, because, George,
the cities are blowing by us. So your opinion, what
do you think about what Daryl said?
Speaker 3 (16:54):
I'm one hundred percent in favor of what he said.
I agree one hundred percent on what he said. Like
you said, just then, we don't even have to go
as far as you talk, go to Nashville. I mean,
you know, you used to go through Nashville and you
didn't see a high rise down there. They got more
more skyscrapers in Nashville than we got in the whole area, Jarry,
you go to in Annapolis, you go to Cincinnata. I mean,
(17:15):
we just like the little county team compared to those
those cities now, and we were bigger than both Nashville
and then as big as Nashville and then Annapolis and
now Jerry, we said so far behind them. It's I'm real,
not on anybody talk about how it would run sports.
Uh in Kentucky, Jared, they have they have it at
Nashville and Memphis, same state, a little bitty state, Thank you, Georgia.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
So Nashville Pro football and Memphis Pro Basketball. Tennessee. Now
we're talking about Tennessee like the Kentucky fans. We're talking
about Rocky Time. We're about Tennessee. Come on, guys, Kentucky.
We just got left left our leader.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
Jerry and Jerry. One thing I also said about the
people say, well, you couldn't fill up the stands, Well,
people couldn't get tickets. And you know how pro fans
support their team. They would come from Annapolis to watch
their places play here in Louisville, teams from Nashville, team
from Memphis. And then you think about all the form
of players that play on these teams from the universities
(18:12):
around here, from Indiana to Louisville to Kentucky. How the
fans would come to support them. And then you got
the fans that are just fans of pro sports. Those
arenas would be fool jered and you're talking about paying
for the Young Center. It probably be played fun by
Torre would probably be building a new Young Center in
probably five years. So what it does for the city
and the expansion and then the brain in the workforce
(18:33):
that it would bring into Jerr. You know, major corporations
come in behind these pro teams because they want to
get some of the money that they bring into the city.
You think of the money that they generate in taxes alone.
My god, it's unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
Ja.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
It's just so many valuable things that they do, in
my eyes, that would benefit Louisville in the surrounding areas.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
George, I mean, George Galla. Sometimes I have to give
you an eight plus. You just got a plus, Sun.
I just put the plus by your aid. George. When
we have Kentucky Fried Chicken, they don't want to be
Kentucky anymore. Come on, Louisville. We've got Hugh Man, David Jones,
William Cherry started that guys. My dad worked for them.
It's nineteen sixty eight, sixty nine. George, you understand me.
(19:13):
That doesn't want to stay in Louisville now, And we're
not going to say we need to do something that's
just the facts of the matter, the corporate dollars that
you spoke about. So I just want what I came
across that. We know that Mayor Craig Greenberg is the mayor.
Now Daryl was talking about Mayor Fisher. Yes, I knew
he was on the Council of the Mayors. I knew that,
(19:35):
and it was just interesting to hear Darryl speak about it.
It's just a fact. So, guys, no matter what. Louisville
again a plus, George, when you spoke about the fans,
if you go back, the Indiana Pacers were on street
corners asking for a dollar from citizens. They were I
understand they were. But if you look at the attendance
(19:59):
to the Pacers, the colonels, they were comparable. George, we
were in the same boat. We just didn't want to
step out on faith. Well, we see what the Pacers
have done finals cities on fire money. We see the
coach that moved from Baltimore. We see a city that
said yes to city that we've said that it said no.
That's why I'm critical, George. I'm critical of people that
(20:21):
said no. Leaders that we hired that said no, that
we don't George, the problem is this, the leaders in
Louisville don't want to say they ever said they were
duped or doped got me, George, So they're never going
to publicly say we made a mistake. That's all. That's all.
That's all, George Terry at point blank.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
You don't mean, Jerry, and I think that some of
the older money did not want these pro teams to
walk in here anything that I was going to say.
That rivalry between Kentucky Colonels and the inDuna places, I mean,
you just think about it. It's the same as the
Louisville Cardinals and the UK JR. I mean, unbelievable. And
that's especially when both of them had great teams and
(21:00):
they were fighting to get to the championship and they
had to go through each other every year with the
player every year, George, you get that championship, Jed. You know,
it was unbelievable. You know, I still remember the players playing, Jed.
You know what I mean, you know just how impactful
it was.
Speaker 1 (21:16):
My brother Larry and I went, we were at the
top of the rafters. You could go to Krogers, buy
something and get a dollar ticket. Because this is nineteen
seventy four seventy five, So don't say a dollar. We
could afford that. A dollar was some money then, but guys,
we could get in, we could support our team. The
fair grounds was packed. We got to call her. George.
Let's go to it. Welcome, Blending, how are you.
Speaker 6 (21:39):
Hey, Jerry? Good morning, Good morning Jerry to you and
my main man brother, George. Hope everybody's doing great.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
But always a pleasure, blending, Always a pleasure. Graduate of
your voice, my man, And you know, I know how
you feel about Jerry, and it's always good how you
treat him. I like that you do a quick, great
job of not showing you real emotions.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
That's why I didn't say anything. I didn't think.
Speaker 6 (22:00):
I know, mister Eaves couldn't make it today, George. So
we got Jerry.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
But I guess we'll.
Speaker 6 (22:07):
Get thurt of with you.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
We'll get through it. Hold up, Hold up, Blended, Hold up, George. Listeners,
did you get back in that corner. I didn't say
you can come out yet?
Speaker 6 (22:17):
Come on, No, I don't like calling like this this much,
you guys, but I'll make it very quick. It's very
interesting Jerry, with that tape he just played of Darryl
and you know what, I don't understand, you, guys. I'm
not the smartest person ever walked the earth, but I'm
(22:37):
I can.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
Add a little bit.
Speaker 6 (22:39):
But what I don't understand. We just honored a guy
Jerry told her, you of l and we're going to
do the same for rickets a matter of time. I
know we are.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
I don't.
Speaker 6 (22:49):
They did generational damage to this community money wise, and
yet we're honoring them. I don't understand because if you
go back in time, guys, and this ain't me pouncing
on them, you all go back in time and look
who screened Bloody Murder when there was a thought of
them happening to share the lease on that building with.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
An NBA team.
Speaker 6 (23:10):
You you just go back and look, and Rick told
all of this. Rick had a big news conference. You know, guys,
we don't.
Speaker 1 (23:16):
Need that and Tom and Tom.
Speaker 6 (23:20):
Right right, we don't need that here. But you know
it's really funny. You go back, you look right now,
you all they're not here anymore. They're gone, and we
have lost generational wealth from that team would have created
in this town and grew this town like crazy. I'm
not a big NBA fan, you too, but if you think.
(23:40):
But if you think they don't make money, the only
thing you gotta do is you go look at go
look at Oklahoma City, and go look at Memphis. Right now,
that's all you got in Nashville and Las Vegas will
have an NBA team. We'll never get one here now
because we don't.
Speaker 3 (23:56):
We don't have the money to pay one.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
Now, guys, And the fact we just what we're stating
in is facts. And I mean this because I researched
it a while back when the old Commissary's deceased. Now
David Stern publicly puts in the Post if Louisville doesn't understand,
and Rick Patina and Time Drew just don't want it,
they don't deserve it. When they were speaking about the
(24:18):
Charlotte Harty's coming here. It's in writing, guys. It's not
my fault. It's in writing. But again it'll be the
messenger's fault. I understand. It's just the facts, generational wealth
and damage. Well again, we can't never have that happen again.
That's why, George, I'm gonna beat it until I'm gone,
because we can't ever let people tell us those things.
We must educate ourselves and know what's good for Louisville period,
(24:42):
not what's pocket.
Speaker 3 (24:45):
Joe. You know one thing that a lot of people
and people are not looking at and just goes back
to the University of Louisville, Jared, Like when we used
to go out there and call for gym and there
will be pros from the Kernels, from the NBA, from everywhere.
Do you know what impact that had on making Louisville
an outstanding team the talent level. People talk about going
to camp, when you play against real experience, when you
(25:06):
play at different place, when you can play a pro
style and then you can come back to the college level.
It is so unbelievable how much faster the college I mean,
the pro game is. And to be out there every
day with those guys and they give you instructions if
they like it, they working with you and working on stuff.
Because look how much Bush did for us, you know,
just taking us under his wing, and they would have
did for these college bomb players at University of Rovero.
(25:29):
We were seeing twice as mid players now in the
pros that we do right now.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
George, let me explain. George said it, so go to
up second Blanding, great point, here's what George, I want
you to understand. When I went to Louisville nineteen seventy eight,
Rick Wilson got me former pro player was coming back.
But if you go back to seventy four and seventy five,
that was walking in playing against Junior Bridgeman, helping him
hone his skills. You had west Uns, butch Beard, dan Issel,
(25:57):
you had Louis Danfier. They were walking in Crawford GM
playing getting ready for their season. Article exactly. That's what
George is telling. So if you had that walking in
playing against mister Brown at Louisville and some of the
better players they've got there now got me Khalifa and
the group, they would be better. That's what George is saying.
(26:19):
It would have helped the University of Louisville because they
would have played against a very, very high level of talent.
Just George, just the fact. And you know it was
so funny, guys, how ironic this was because I watched
when you had Mayor Fisher speaking, you had Tom Jeers
the street. Okay, I've got no problem with it. Tom
(26:41):
did great things. But I want you all to understand
one thing again. It's on tape and Jerry's didn't do it.
I just listen. A reporter asked Mayor Craig Greenberg what
would he think about having an NBA team? With Tom
d just sit right next to him, he said, I'd
love to have one. Pushing for it. Yes, no, no,
not Fisher Greenberg. When they did the street George, this
(27:02):
is six weeks ago. Thomas sitting directly next to Greenberg,
and a reporter asked me of Greenberg, this is the
mayor right now today, what would you think of an
NBA franchise? He said, we'd love to have one. We've
got a pro arena and we're pushing to get one.
The person sitting right next to him said twenty years ago,
we in need that. We can do it without it. Guys,
(27:23):
that's just the facts. But no, late Blendon said, we'll
be honoring them till the day I die.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
I know it.
Speaker 1 (27:29):
We can forget it. It is what it is. But
the bottom line is Louisvio has not moved an inch,
and nobody wants to feel or hear the truth. That's
just the facts. So George Blend, it's already seven thirty six.
We're gonna get the breaksworts radio.
Speaker 3 (27:45):
You too. I have blended always a pleasure.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
Than it's worths radio. Anthony, get back in that corner, George,
getting that corner, I just see you could come out.
We'll talk to you all after Nay.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
Don't make me bust you up, Jereed, don't make me
bust you up. I ain't acting.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
We'll talk to you in a second. Welcome back to
the sports radio guys. Yes, it is Friday. That's all
that I know. I have allowed Anthony to leave the
corner now, George, so I'm not a bad parent anymore.
That's all, So welcome back to the show, George. Here's
the problem where we jump into your university Kentucky Wildcats.
(28:25):
I want people to understand one this is and this
is on the serious side. When that was transpiring and
the Charlotte Hernets were coming to Louisville, George, she and
I was the assistant coach, so I do know the deal.
I hate to tell people that it's like God put
me in position to he knew I was going to
have this show. But the minute that Tom, George and
(28:45):
Ry Patino said they didn't need this franchise here and
a few other city leaders. There should have been media people,
that's what our job is, screaming wholly to the top
of their lungs. You must be crazy and see George,
that didn't transpire. There was too much control, there was
too much bullying, there's too much refright, they're too big,
(29:05):
They're bigger than the City of Louisville. Well, God of
the City of Louislle is never going to recover. It's
never going to recover. We get on them all you want,
but the fact of the matter is decisions matter, and
people have to be held to their decisions. The media
is the problem because they weren't screaming so loudly that
you all knew what the city was losing so loudly.
(29:27):
That's what media is here for. That's why Jerry's is own.
If something like that happens Georgian and we're on, I
don't care who it is, I'd be talking about them
like they had a tail. If they were misleading people
the way that the city has been misled, that's why
just leave the town. You'll know. That's all, period, point blank.
There is more to it. In University Kentucky basketball, in
(29:51):
University of Louisville basketball, there's more to it. There just is.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
So Joe, you know something that's funny and it won't
be long. But I would talking to a friendly man
who lives in Nashville, and you know, one of the
thing and we were looking at little were taking pictures
from the Louisville side to the Kentucky side.
Speaker 1 (30:08):
You know.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
The first thing that they said, Louisville has no skyscrapers.
Why is Louisville so small? It says one skyscraper. Jet.
It is unreal how people look at stuff like that,
the highway innstructure coming into Nashville, it's unbelievable. Jet. But
to look at our skyline when you go to the
other side, you've got a hotel and the human of
Fields nothing. What the god for street? Skyscraper?
Speaker 1 (30:32):
That jet have empty? Don't be mad at your empty.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
You you go to the Great Line, you can see
our Louisville from standing in one spot on the Great Line.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
George boy again. But that's that's where we are. That's
what has happened.
Speaker 3 (30:49):
So don't be mad at Georgia.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
That's what they said, you know, that's what they said.
Jerry's did it. I know. So here's the problem. George ads,
since your cat cat brought up my reds, I'm gonna
bring up your cats. You've got a challenging. We know
the football team. We're not gonna go there anymore. We
know that that is a challenge, period. That is a
(31:14):
true that's a challenge. That's real. That's a real challenge.
That's why I always.
Speaker 3 (31:18):
Ever was a football school. Jat So I don't know
why we could.
Speaker 1 (31:22):
Okay, yeah, but no, you know why, George, because it pays. No,
they're never getting out of it. Okay, I'm telling you
if the k Tucky ever said there getting out of
the sec so they can campeep better, I blow the
place up there never leaving. That's a cash couch. Come on,
we left exactly. You're non confidence.
Speaker 3 (31:46):
Go ahead, j when he's gonna talk about my team,
what you guys say, go ahead, don't be scared.
Speaker 1 (31:49):
Now.
Speaker 3 (31:50):
What you gotta say.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
Exhibition and Reparena Purdue. That's a good game, Georgetown exhibition game.
Then you got University of Louisville on the eleven. George, November,
you come, you come to me, George, You come to
me in trouble.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
We know around beachy, So what's new?
Speaker 1 (32:09):
No, I've left the corner. My nose is not in
the corner anymore. George. Coach he's gonna do what he
has to do. Coach Ron took care of you last year.
Coach Kelsey this year, George, what do you do that?
Speaker 3 (32:24):
What coach Kelsey did last year? Since we bringing his name?
What did you last year?
Speaker 1 (32:28):
A dog for George?
Speaker 3 (32:29):
Do you want to talk about what the bank smoke
last year to get smoked? What happened the smoke they got?
Speaker 1 (32:35):
They lost, but they.
Speaker 3 (32:36):
Were not got smoke, so he got smoked.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
Smoke dogs.
Speaker 3 (32:40):
Okay, let's talk about it. So it's like we won't
do it again this year. I mean, it's the same
TOAs just just a year old and a lot worse.
Speaker 1 (32:48):
George. It's crazy, no, George, is that the young sinner?
You're going to be leaving crying? That's all? Well, George,
you got.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
Miss what I can say this to you, Jared, and
you will know what I'm talking about, and this is
where you will change your mind on what I'm saying.
You have been prepared for this all your life when
you were playing college ball. You were groomed for this
year when you were college playing college basketball, Jared, were
brained in. We're playing anybody and everybody early, but but
(33:17):
time the end of the season comes, you don't want
to where you go, you don't want us there. We
done played every style, every team, every kind of basketball.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
JA.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
So now when it comes down to we talk about style,
we don't even have to practice. All we do is
just line up and we're gonna bring thunder on the
same And we got players like George, you get what
you want to talk about, and you're not wasn't that
way you were good, j that where you were play
the basket and then of the year you're prepared to
(33:50):
play anybody. And then then when you're prepared to play anybody,
and we were, well, that's what.
Speaker 1 (33:58):
That's what.
Speaker 3 (34:01):
We're playing for, championship that we ain't playing with that
shit would be in the season. Seasons don't matter. It's
the ring you put on at the end of the season, Jared,
that's what we're playing for. End of the season rings. Okay, let's.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
See what you got. Let's what you got. Since you're
trying to take coach crumbs motto, I can't George, that's
coach crumbs.
Speaker 3 (34:19):
Now I would just say what you got I was
way see good, you imitated, Jared. When you see good,
you imitated, You don't have to go away.
Speaker 1 (34:30):
What's the best way of flattery, George, give me imitation?
You know. That's what George always Michigan State, Georgian.
Speaker 3 (34:38):
And that's what we're.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
Gonna take it and go ahead Michigan, Michigan State, George,
November eighteenth, Michigan State, November four Lowell and University, Maryland, Tennessee,
Tennessee Tech December second. You know, Carolina North Carolina Company.
(35:00):
Hubert David says he's turning.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
Yeah, Jack, go back again. What I want you to smile?
But talk about Okay, but I'm trying.
Speaker 1 (35:14):
I'm trying, George. It used to mean a lot, but
I'm okay. No, George, one down, get it out, get
it out. I'm not gonna roll over on Huber Davis
in one bed here. But better not do it again
or he'll be out of there. He'll be out of there. George.
One more? You like last year Gonzaga George in Nashville.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
That's a good game. That's gonna be a good with
that brother. We never know what they have, but they
usually just can't leave the West and win there in
the West.
Speaker 1 (35:39):
Yeah, they can't. You're right. The minute they leave, they
come out of smoke and they're done. North Carolina Central
December ninth. That's a win, George. You'll take care of Central.
December thirteen, Indiana, Indiana. George. They said they're coming for you.
It's a given, a lead, that's a given. We're not
(36:01):
talking about Jack Gibbons. You said that's a given.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
You look, you look at who we played before then,
and then you look at it and down and what
their schedule and players are like, I don't think they
really want to say such at that point. Jared, Now
we're getting mad for the SEC. That's what.
Speaker 1 (36:17):
No, no, no, George, you're missing the game.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
Oh no.
Speaker 1 (36:24):
St. John December twentieth, Saint John, CBS, Atlanta, Georgia.
Speaker 3 (36:31):
George.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
You got Rick Patino coming, says he wants his crown back. George,
think about that. When we go to break. We gotta
get to break, George. We gotta pay some bills I
have to. When we come back, I'm gonna George elaborate
about Saint John's. Eves Sports Radio will talk you all
in a minute. Welcome back to Eves Sports Radio and
(36:53):
George Williams, we don't have much time. The boogeyman, Rick
Patino's coming to take away your crown. What's gonna happen? George, Yeah,
it's like this, Jerr.
Speaker 3 (37:03):
It's like having a big brother, Mark the big little brother.
Always wanted to be big brother, Mark Post a little brother.
He knows Rick Patino. The one thing about Rick Patino
and I've been watching him for years, Jared is temperament.
The Patino would throw a big game. I remember when
Doug them playing SEC, took an an fine walk out
of the game because he got upset with him and
and and cost him an SEC championship. I watched him
(37:23):
last year he got upset with his star when his
star guard took him mad the game talked about he
couldn't play. Jed Rick Pottino's timperament would get him. And
Mark Polks knows him better and who wants to win
the game more than anybody on earth? That will be
Rick Patino. So Jeff Mark pok gets him down. Rick
Patino could be his own worst in and imploded and
will walk away with a game.
Speaker 1 (37:43):
George, Hey, plus, George, you done great joke today? Eight
plus eight plus I have nothing even here's the last one, though, George,
upset alert. Okay, upset alert coming to get you, Doug
Davenport and Belament's coming to get third. Take all.
Speaker 3 (38:02):
You didn't have to bring that one. That Jay, you
didn't have to bring that one. Nothing that could be dangerous.
You're gonna take you, man. You made boy, but you
made a mistake. Take your money a run.
Speaker 1 (38:13):
Don't talk about Scotty Son like that. I called Scotty
or I love him.
Speaker 3 (38:16):
I love that. I love Scotty my boys, man, But
take the money and run. Jerry Hope Hope may by
somebody the game is feeling good, and don't take nobody's
hard away from him. But hey, it ain't gonna be
a pretty picture.
Speaker 1 (38:27):
Jay, not gonna be a pretty picture.
Speaker 3 (38:30):
I ain't not gonna be a pretty picture, man, George.
Speaker 1 (38:33):
Doug Davenport said he's gonna cut his teeth into Kentucky Wildcats.
Speaker 3 (38:38):
Okay, you might need a Dennis, but I don't think
he'd be cutting teeth. Jay.
Speaker 1 (38:42):
Maybe give him do it, and George did. We don't
even talk about the conference schedule. We'll do that another day. George,
can't you believe it? It's over? George, the show is
done amazing.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
Let's go. Well, let's have a great weekend.
Speaker 1 (38:59):
Georgie. I want you to have a great weekend. I
want you to have a toothache or something. George. I
want you to call it on Monday, saying I was
hurting all weekend so I can go.
Speaker 3 (39:07):
Yes, you'll be looking for another mailbox, Jerry, that's what
I said my two verse year. You'll be looking for
another mailbox. Money you be coming, said George. You're not.
I lost another mailbox.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
I won't mention it, Jail, don't mention it, George e
Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (39:23):
I'll be carrying it down.
Speaker 1 (39:25):
See here you go. I'll give out your address, George.
We'll talk to you all on Monday. God willing love
you all. Bye bye
